Enjoyed the restaurant but I'm expecting more. Food is ok but could be better. The beer was expensive $6.25 for a draft. Nice town but not much selection in the way of restaurants ..

I enjoy the Inn. My wife and I had met with them to do our wedding there, and we were set to do so but an extremely good catering deal came up so we had to back out. Homemade french onion soup was really good, the reuben was good. They have an alright beer selection, and they have a local beer on tap from my favorite local brewery (Endless Brewing). They've remodeled the exterior, and the interior is very nice.

Went for dinner after chocolate and wine festival, food was mediocre. We ordered speedie chicken wings to start and they were rubbery, not extra crispy like we requested. We also started with a crab and spinach quesadilla, the crab meat must have been out of a can had the quality of cat food. For entree I had chicken marsala it was just awful, very little mushrooms & the sauce wasn't done correctly. My side was vegetables they were bland. My boyfriend ordered shrimp scampi, the portion of shrimp was generous but the sauce was terrible it tasted sour. Overall bad experience. Waitress was friendly. The atmosphere is nice but we won't be returning for another dinner.

The hawg wings are still good as is the beer selection. I can't say the same for the other food I've tried here. Most recently, we were served sandwiches on burned bread with overcooked, dry, tasteless meats. Fries were unpleasantly crisp. Food is overpriced for the quality.

I'm posting this here because the Montrose Hotel and the Montrose House-Inn are two establishments run by the same folks. It appears that the Hotel is sort of an overflow spot for guests the Inn can't accommodate. Staying at the Montrose Hotel was a lovely, pleasant, easy experience. Until they charged me. I was in Montrose for the weekend for a wedding. I'd never been in that area of PA before. When I called the hotel a couple weeks before the wedding, I was quoted $95/night as the rate for wedding guests (the bride had already blocked a bunch of rooms in this hotel and signed me up for one -- I just wanted to know what I should expect to pay.) I arrived very late at night and had to call Gretchen's cell phone to figure out where my room was, etc. She was lovely and helpful. It should be noted that at no point during the weekend did I see anyone at the front desk at the Montrose Hotel (although I understand the office for both hotels is at the nearby Montrose Inn) The next day I called Gretchen again to arrange payment. She again quoted me $95/night and took my credit card number. That evening I returned to my room from the wedding to find a bill under my door to the tune of $119/night. I was staying 2 nights. Yes, they charged me $48 more than they had ever quoted me (on two occasions). I don't have an extra $50 to spend! I barely made it to this wedding as it is! I called Gretchen to ask for clarification and she called me back (leaving a message -- I missed the call) to tell me that her quote was mistaken and that everyone at the wedding was being charged $119/night. I think this is shady and I called back today to tell her so. I left a message. If anyone from this hotel gets back to me to make it right, I will gladly post a positive review because otherwise the experience was fine.

After multiple attempts the restaurant can deliver a decent meal. Let me explain my opening. A co-worker and I ate at the Montrose house for lunch while we were working in Montrose and we were very disappointed. Montrose is not a town for foodies, or anyone who wants a good meal. We had a very difficult time finding a quality restaurant the entire time we were there. Montrose House ranked as the 2nd worst we tried. Both of us had to request multiple times to have our food cooked correctly or bring missing ingredients to the table. I had the pulled pork sandwich which was very try and tasteless. The sweet potato fries that I ordered with it were incredibly burnt and the cook should be fired for allowing that to be served. Luckily the waitress brought more sauce for the sandwich and replaced my sweet potato fries with regular fries after multiple requests. The food I ended with was actually ok, but nothing to brag about. At the end of the day avoid eating at restaurants in Montrose, PA at all costs. If you have to eat in Montrose, choose the VFW......that is sad just writing that.

very good food, they have awesome "hawg wings" that are pork instead of chicken and are very very good. great beer selection, including Guiness on draft. they had very good burgers, caesar salad, etc., it's kind of a sandwich/burger, etc. place but what they do, they do very well. very friendly service, nice staff. the decor is much nicer than you might think when you drive by, it's styled like an English pub inside - not many windows (cozy), dark wood, etc. - it's actually very nice and homey. it would be even better in the winter. all in all, a nice casual place to grab a bite and a very good beer.
