Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

This a good restaurant. The chicken or veal parmigiano is old school and delicious. Pasta in vodka sauce is good. The giant ravioli is a little weird too much pasta in proportion to the filling for my taste. The salad with all the fruit and nuts is fabulous. When you get tired of Peter 's and The Fork this restaurant is fun and delicious. We have had good service most of the time. There was one grouchy inattentive woman but I haven't seen her there the last few times. Beautiful restoration of Zaloom House. Better than Tre Alberi which is okay.

Attemped to go here at 6:30pm on a Wednesday - closed! We called and no answer. The answering machine clearly stated the hours they were, supposedly, open. Not worth driving to see if they are actually open, chose Apple Valley instead...see my review for that!

love this restaurant!! Every time I have been there the food is EXCELLENT!! The pan fried ravioli is terrific. One large ravioli was surprising and not heavy! Their signature salad is so yummy! The mix between sweet and savory was so good. Salad with fresh fruit, olives and grape tomatoes and all surrounded by long strips of cucumber! The presentation was very cool. My sister had their pork loin and said it was the best she had ever had. My husband and I are foodies and this place is terrific!!! Please try this place! It is BYOB, which is fine

Okay people of Yelp, not sure what I'm missing here. Maybe because we went to The Grotto at lunch?? I can see how complaints about slow service might come up, but really the service wasn't THAT slow for us. Our meals (lamb sliders and turkey on naan) were very good. My only request would have been water with our meals. Drinks were good, service was friendly. And the iPad bill is the way of the future. It's popping up everywhere. If you don't want to give 20% (which c'mon, is pretty standard), then you don't have to. You can always give cash too. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

Pasta. We were looking for a place to get pasta other then a pizzeria. Grotto fulfilled our search. All three of our pasta dishes were good. Only problem was our youngest who chose chicken fingers. Hey Grotto, don't over cook/char the fingers. Dish should not have been platted and served.

Mediocre food, some entrees small portion. Overpriced. Go somewhere else! Nicely decorated. Short on outdoor Scenery. Good wait staff

This is a restaurant with a very interesting and ambitious menu that doesn't deliver and alas a waitstaff that doesn't serve. We (party of five) were here during the music festival and arrived for 7:30 reservations. We got our order in by 7:50 and waited and waited and waited. First a long wait for the appetizers and then an even longer wait for the entrees which didn't start to arrive until 9:40!!! We were kept uninformed with no explanation as to what was (not) happening other than a perfunctory "coming out 'soon'" now and again. There was clearly a bottleneck in their kitchen and I can't blame waitstaff for that, but I can for them not being honest with us. When we complained about the delay, the waitress said (I kid you not), "other tables waited two hours also". Now for the food, Three of us had the duck confit in a crepe as a starter. We have made duck confit and also enjoyed it in restaurants many times both as a separate dish and as part of a chef's creation. This was the most tasteless recipe I've ever had. Meat was tender and otherwise OK, but nearly devoid of taste, as if it had been steamed rather than prepared as a confit. It was wrapped in a crepe that was drizzled with a sauce that neither complemented nor suffused the dish. Would be better served in an old folks home rather than in a place of fine dining. Now for the main dishes. When they finally arrived they too were a mixed bag. My lamb was excellent but all the other dishes in our large party were subpar. A gnocchi alfreddo came with a brown sauce (e.g. not an al freddo which has cream, butter, garlic, parsley and cheese (usually parmesan)). A short ribs dish was bland, etc. We believe the cook was skipping steps to try to keep up with the crowd (which he clearly didn't do anyway). Needless to say, we won't be back.

I was there with another couple in the early part of the summer. It was a HOT & MUGGY day. Upon arriving, I asked if the A/C was on. I was told it was, and they were lowering the temperature. My advice is fire your HVAC contractor! It was so hot and uncomfortable in there we considered leaving after less than stellar apps were served. In hindsight, that would have been the best decision. The entrees were terrible and nowhere near restaurant quality. I was excited to try a Mediterranian restaurant so close to home, but I was highly disappointed.

I was very impressed with this restaurant. The quality of the food was extremely high class and I remember remarking that they could charge a lot more than what they do. We ate there for lunch on a beautiful spring day. Great place to eat after a day visitng Grey Towers.

Do not go here. The Mac and cheese was very good but it ended there. We had spaghetti and meatballs which were more like golf balls. Golf balls may have been softer. We also had a 12 oz rib eye that looked like it was 5oz and cost $42. TGI Fridays has better steaks. The worst part was the server handed me a tablet to sign my check. While standing behind me I had to hit a button that automatically added a 20% tip so fast that I had no other option. A rip off and that check experience was horrendous.

I love this place. GREAT food. The vegetarian selection is the best. You can get $30.00 worth of food for $15.00 from poconosavers.com . I've used the coupon twice with different friends and they both really enjoyed it. Looking forward to my next visit.

I was impressed! I am new to the area, and wanted to bring some out of town guests to a nice place to show off my new hometown. Because the farmer's market is held at the Grotto, I was somewhat familiar with them, but had not been there to eat. This was a good choice for us. The food was excellent: we shared one of the appetizer plates (Spain), then I had the salmon, and my companions had the chicken piccata and the Egyptian beef. We were all quite pleased with our dinners. The prices were not cheap, but reasonable for the quality of the food we had, no doubt about it. Our server was attentive and friendly without being intrusive or fakey--the perfect blend of helpful but not "in your face." My only complaint was the seating. We were there on a warm weekday evening. The hostess asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. We chose outside, and she brought us to the sunniest spot on the porch. Given that this was our first time there, we did not know there might be tables on the shadier front of the building, and she did not offer that option. Next time, I will know better, and there will be a next time. I really like this place!

I am extremely disappointed in our visit. From the start there were issues. From thinking we had 4 guests when we said 5. Trying to sit 5 ppl at a 2 person table. All orders where put in at same time. My entree finally came when everyone was done and boxed up their food. It was the second worst chicken franchise I have had in my life, and I order it anywhere it is offered. The rice it was served with was not 100% cooked and flavorless. The vegetable melody it was served with was tasteless and limp, like it sat in hot water all day long. Sent the whole plate back and got refunded after asking for one. My onion soup was fantastic and my husband decided to order it as well. His was different tasting and extremely salty. He got duck crepes which he liked and the hummus mix. They could have given him more pita bread for the hummus because he had a lot leftover and nothing to put it on. Their kids Mac and cheese is Alfredo, which my daughter hated. She would have never ordered Alfredo to begin with. Their kids grilled cheese is on a nontraditional bread and has 2 different cheese, it was good. My other child ordered the kids chicken fingers which she ordered with ranch. It was served to her with ketchup. 10 minutes later I find a food runner to get some ranch. Another 10 minutes later and she comes out to say they don't have any. Well, she wouldn't have ordered it then if you had no ranch. This place has massive potential. They don't seem to have a good leader and the staff was very quiet and anxious too. Made us uncomfortable.

One of the worst restaurants. I ordered linguini with red clam sauce. The clams were from a can. What the f---

MORE than a grain of salt. The food at The Grotto was inedible. This was the first time the four of us visited this restaurant. From the street the restaurant, in a restored Victorian house looked very inviting. We were seated promptly at 7:30, which was fine, and the hostess took our bottles of wine for uncorking. 15 minutes went by and we finally got our wine. The slow service foreshadowed the disaster that WAS dinner. The unimpressive bread came long after we ordered appetizers and entrees. Every dish we ordered, when it DID arrive, we had wished it never came. (calamari (with TONS of salt), house special ravioli stuffed with cheese and spinach (with TONS of salt in the sauce), overdone eggplant parm (served with same sauce) cooked and served as hard as hockey pucks and Mac "n" Cheese, that was threatened to be removed from the "comfort food" category. The collection of check was no better, as it had the inevitable inclusion of all that was sent back. Which, after a loud retort from one of my fellow diners, was quietly removed. We will never go back. Do not dine here.

I have been wanting to try this place since it opened. Finally got there for lunch. The restaurant was empty, but, WHAT a BEAUTIFUL place! The menu was different and interesting. Not cheap, but not really overpriced either. My daughter ordered the French Dip which came with homemade sweet potato fries. It was delicious! I ordered the puff pastry appetizer which came with a beautiful salad... it was arranged as a work of art... gorgeous! the waitress warned me that it was an appetizer and not an entree, but I ended up bringing alot of it home... it was definitely large enough for an entree. The service was good, and I got a regular paper check (not the Ipad bill that other Yelpers mentioned.). I was very happy with my experience here, and will happily return!

The Grotto recently opened in downtown Milford to some buzz but little knowledge from the locals. While there for the summer, we stopped in for a fancy dinner out of the house. The concept is interesting, a kind of smorgasbord of European cuisine. A plate from France, some apps from Greece, the Moroccan entree. It's interesting but honestly a bit confused. The restaurant is in a converted house and is charming in it's decor. Unfortunately, the acoustics of the main dining room are such that you can clearly hear the tables next to you but hear no one at your table. Service was inattentive but friendly. With only 4 tables sat and two servers it should have been better. The chef is competent but with so many dishes on the menu and only him in the kitchen, food came out sporadically with half the table watching the other half eat. My mother's food came out last when many of us were already done eating. Hire a line cook! There is a vegetarian/vegan menu (with a wealth of interesting options), as well as a gluten free menu. However, you must know to ask for them as the server will not offer. I'm glad we did inquire past asking "what is vegetarian on the menu", as a table next to us overheard and would have appreciated that information as well. I'm giving The Grotto 3 stars because the concept is interesting and it had recently opened. However, I don't think I will go back. It's too expensive for very little. I also don't like restaurants that use iPhones to run credit cards. That makes me very nervous.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem in Milford, PA. The food was great compared to anything I've had in this area. The service was great and the chef made a point to come to our table and ask how everything was. Their flourless chocolate torte was to die for.

The food was terrific. My wife had the lamb. It was cooked perfectly. I had the veal francese and it was tender and very tasty. The service was excellent. It was nice that the chef came out to greet us and checked to be sure everything was ok. This is a BYOB restaurant which is terrific. Overall a great experience!

Worst meal I ever paid for...had to go to the Water Wheel right after experiencing this culinary catastrophe, to cleanse my palette.

The Grotto has an unbelievably ambitious, over conceptualized menu that it's destined to fail from the start. Every course is broken down into Mediterranean countries each of which has its own unique dish representing it for the course. While this provides lots of options, they aren't good options at all. I honestly don't think I've had a saltier meal in my life. I'm pretty sure the Caesar salad is the highlight of the menu, which is saying something.... You're much better off going to the Water Mill, the Fauchere or even the pizza place across the street.

This was probably the worst meal of the past couple of years. A very pretty place, so we couldn't wait to get to it, not to mention we were starving. You would think all that would make any restaurant acceptable, but not here. Even the bread & olive oil were lousy. The onion soup had the same wrong bread in it, which turned it into a strange porridge. The Paella was anything but a paella. More like a soup. The Morocco Lamb chop was the worst lamb chop I ever had, accompanied by strange cold couscous and disconnected mint yogurt. We are Mediterranean folks, so this was not a cultural misunderstanding. It really sucked. The mixed grill wasn't just chewy, it was downright hard. We ended up canceling whatever we could, and had another dinner elsewhere. This is the worst review I've written, because it's the worst restaurant I've experienced since I started writing reviews. Keep walking.

08/09 had a 7:30 reservation arrived at 7:18 and stood at the hostess stand for 5 mins and 4 out of 5 people that walked by us said not one word to us... Hostess got back to the stand and sat us out side which was a beautiful evening and great night .... It was another 5 mins before our waitress greeted us... They did open our wine right away and gave us waters... She greeted us gave us specials and ordered our appetizer... We weren't ready to order our entrees and asked for 2 mins... We Didn't see our waitress for another 15 mins and finally ordered our entrees ... 40 mins after ordering our appetizer we hadn't received it yet and never saw our waitress again after ordering our entrees... By this time it was 8:15 no app no entree no waitress so we grabbed the hostess and told her of this and said sorry we are leaving and getting food else where ... She could have cared less they were losing business ... Don't recommend eating here... Growing up in this town I want business to thrive but this is unacceptable
