My husband had been raving about this place ever since he took his entire cross country team there (42 girls) and they accommodated the whole team last minute. The food was good- chili more a soup than a thick chili, but OK, tuna melt a good grilled sandwich, Reuben also good. Took a slice of pecan pie and one of cherry home with us. OMG. Very good thing this place is 2 hours away from us. The cherry pie's crust tasted just like the one I remember from childhood- hmmm.... Crisco, perhaps? We love birds so we really enjoyed all of the feeders and bird pictures on the walls. Beautiful fall day- enjoyed riding up into the mountains after lunch.

Best breakfast place ever. Make sure to get a booth by the window. The sausage is made on site, top notch. Service is good. I always stop here at the start of a day long motorcycle ride.

After a recent fun Saturday morning of snow tubing with a large group of friends at Whitetail, we actually found Foot of the Mountain by browsing through other area restaurant listings on Yelp. I was definitely happy that we chose this place. The best way to describe the establishment is small, down-to-earth, with plenty of simple home cookin' at its finest. I loved the chicken tenders and sweet, crispy corn fritters. You will definitely find something to enjoy from their extensive menu of American comfort food at very affordable prices. The server was also very accommodating to our entire group, as we were promptly seated in the side dining room. I will definitely be back here the next time I'm in the area!

It was Mother's Day when we stopped for lunch and the after-church crowd really filled the place. They seemed to be regulars because the servers addressed everyone by name. It was that kind of place ... homestyle cooking. Dependable, Nothing spicy, nothing frou frou. Pie for dessert. Like having dinner at your grandmother's. Not my kind of place, but I'm in the minority, given the turnout last Sunday.

I give it 3.5 stars because it was very inexpensive, If "home cooking" is your thing you will like this place. We were here with a group of 7 and didn't have any problem getting quick service. The food was ok, service friendly. I'm more of an adventerous eater and found the food a bit bland for my liking. It reminded me of the dinners served at firehall fundraisers. If you're into that this is the place for you.

I was really looking forward to dinner at this place. I like comfort food and chose not to dine at a fancier place with a friend. It is a clean place, people are friendly. Menu looked interesting. Then the food arrived. I ordered the chicken livers, which were good but just a tad overcooked. But I enjoyed them. I chose mashed potatoes and cucumber and onion as sides. The mashies were INSTANT, not home made. How can you say that you are a comfort food restaurant and not not serve real mashies. That is a BIG no no. The cucumber and onions were sweet, probably something from a jar. Why sweet cucumbers? Pies were good but nothing special. I was disappointed in the Foot of the Mountain. They keep their prices down because they use cheaper produce or poor substitutes. Shame on them.

Hometown-type restaurant. Decent food and reasonable prices.

This is a wonderful, family friendly friendly restaurant located at "the foot of the mountain" in Mercersburg, PA. The corn firtters are to die for, and the fried chicken is like something my southern grandmother would have made. Delicious. Wonderful, friendly staff and a clean, comfy, retro atmosphere.
