Ok so if I was grading them just on service it be 1 star, if I was grading them just on food it be 4. When we walked in we literally were standing between 4 guests who were mid argument while the young and sweet hostess was crying. It appears the wait was significantly longer then they were told, still though the hostess didn't deserve to be yelled at. At that point she walks away crying and we are just standing there stunned as to what we just walked into. Another girl then comes up front visibly frazzled and saying our table would be ready soon ( we had a reservation) she then proceeds to almost complain about how busy the restaurant was. I found it interesting that a manager didn't come to address the issue. We were seated rather quickly which was good because the front of the place was like a meat locker soo cold I wouldn't have eaten there if we weren't put in the back of the place. Once we sat down we ordered drinks, I ordered a strawberry margarita only to find out that this tequila bar doesn't serve flavored margaritas, I just stuck with water. We ordered an appetizer- it never came out , the waitress delivered our entries a good 30 mins later and when I asked her about it she said ya it will be out soon??? I said forget it... The point of the appetizer is to come out first. Again no manager to smooth the issue. I just felt like the only person who was on top of the game was the young man with dark hair who served our chips and filled our waters. Everyone else seemed rather young and inexperienced to be working in a busy trendy restaurant on a Saturday night ( the hostess was only 16 and our waitress couldn't have been much older). The food however was fantastic and fairly inexpensive which makes it worth the poor service!

Some of the other Yelpers on here are clearly out of their minds, because this place is FANTASTIC. The food is very authentic Tex-Mex (with a pleasant emphasis on the Mex) and the drinks are superb - especially the house margarita on the rocks.

I haven't had the food here yet, but their margaritas are great. I was mostly impressed with the atmosphere and service. I've been to most other bars on State St. but this bar has one of the better atmospheres and nicer crowds in Media. I went with an old friend on a Friday night and even though they were pretty busy they didn't crank up the music obnoxiously loud, which I hate, and the bartenders were very friendly. This will definitely be one of my go-to bars when I'm out in Media.

We went for an earlyish Saturday dinner. The frozen margaritas were very good, as were the free homemade tortilla chips. My mahi mahi was ok, but seemed more like a lunch serving size (at $18 it should have been bigger), and the tropical salsa the menu said it should have come with was nowhere to be found. There was some sweet sauce swirled on the plate...but it didn't qualify as salsa in my cookbook. The queso fundo (melted cheese...really, how hard could that be) was burned on top and not melted underneath. Yuk. Maybe it was rushed, because it replaced the "ceviche" that we returned to the kitchen. I had read the other yelper's review, and specifically asked the waitress if the shrimp was a real ceviche (cooked by marinating in lemon, lime juice). She asked the manager and said it was- bottomline, it wasn't, and there was no papaya, despite the menu description. So i would go back for the margaritas and free chips and salsa, especially at happy hour (4-6). But that's about it.

This place is truly a disgrace and really has no place amongst other Media restaurants. The food is ok at best. The burrito was totally bone dry, their salsa is quite tasteless but spicy, their guacamole is not spicy at all, and the fajitas do not come with lettuce, tomatoes or cheese. We called ahead of time and they told us that we do not need to have reservations. When we came they told us they were super full because of reservations! Are you serious!?! But that was a lie because we could be seated right away and there was never a time when we did not see an empty table around us, rightly so because this place should always be empty. Service is nothing to write home about, we had to ask the waitress 2 x for everything and they will gladly let you sit there with empty water glasses for a long time, but the girl seemed to be a bit overworked and she tried to be nice. The worst was when a person from our party ordered a mojito. It took a long time to arrive and arrived after a reminder and well after we had finished our food. The mojito was disgusting. We all tried it (5 of us) and we all agreed it was terrible. The thing had no sugar in it! We didn't even return it just asked that sugar be added. Not only did they not add sugar but a bartender or someone came out to reprimand us and tell us we were fools. We thought he came out to apologize for not putting any sugar into but instead he says that this is how it is made and that he wants Americans to stop drinking sugar (yeah good luck with that). He claimed there was sugar there, and when I asked him what kind he went off on a tangent "educating" me about refined and non-refined sugar (yes I know these things) and telling me that nowhere in the US, would I find a mojito with raw sugar, which is BS. Our friends were from Europe, but I'm American and have been living in America for most of my life and some idiot has taken it up to educate me about America, well congratulations, it was reflected in your tip, and it is guaranteed that you won't have us as return customers. We're local, and go to Media to eat often.

Very poor quality for simple Mexican food. Was highly disappointed with several dishes including very tough piece of steak. No bargain here and atmosphere was crowded, noisy and cramped. Not an enjoyable dining expense, will not be going back.

Was very good! Enchiladas and the Mahi Mahi over the beans, rice and mango salsa was awesome!

I wrote one of the early reviews of this place and I was very happy with my first meal. Oh well... We have been back 4 or 5 times and it is very inconstant never coming close to our first vist. We now go out of town for our Tex Mex unfortunately .

Service: good Food: Bland. I had the steak burrito. Mexican rice with a layer of beans rolled with barely there steak pieces. Sour cream and cheese need to be ordered separately, and I think you need to pay extra for them. The chips were thick and came with 3 different types of salsas. The margarita was just meh. I'm not the mexican food expert, but I've had mexican food all over the US and Mexico. And I know one thing... Mexican food is not, and should not, be bland. I think they are charging too much for the quality of food they are serving.

Perfectly executed bland food. There is no other way to describe it. My fish tacos were perfectly cooked but they just had no flavor. The small bottle of "hot" sauce on the table wasn't going to help. If they could just add some flavor, it would be great. After all, the hard part is not overcooking the meat or fish!

I really wanted this to be great--I'm from AZ and love Mexican food. Unfortunately, it was just "okay." The waitress was great and we were seated quickly even though we didn't have a reservation (6:30 on a Saturday evening). The appetizer (melted queso with poblano peppers) was okay. We thought it had chorizo in it, but it was extra and we didn't realize (and the waitress didn't ask us if we wanted it). The same dish at Dos Gringos up the street was tastier. The chips had NO salt. The salsa tasted like ketchup. Would be good with something zippier. The margaritas here were really good. The enchiladas my husband had were just okay. He asked for them spicy and they were not at all. My fajitas were okay (not wonderful). It came with sour cream, pico and guac (no cheese). The best thing we had was the churros with melted chocolate (yum). Overall...okay. Good service. Good alcohol. Okay food.

Rude host and hostess. They save the more comfortable tables for favorite customers. We had a reservation and were seated in the back room near the bathroom. When we requested to sit in a booth, we were told that it was reserved for parties of 3 or more. When we left , there were empty booths, as well as parties of 2 seated. The food was sub-par, but the waitress was super nice and attentive.

Had a bad closing on my new house today. My agent Jason Gizzi and also good friend could see how frustrated I was and im sure he was also. As soon as we left the real state office we hit the first hip spot in Media. We stopped by the newest Mexican grill/bar. Margaritas were pretty good. I ordered a tortilla soup hmm.. Not impressed at. Jason got tacos for the prize I didnt think it was good. I would go back for the drinks not the food.

The drinks were watered down and overpriced ($30 for three and a half drinks) which was part of the reason why we asked the waitress for an explanation of why the pitcher could not serve even four full drinks. The service was terrible with a waitress who gossiped with her fellow workers and later followed us into State Street to complain about her tip (along with another waitress). After receiving an explanation for her tip, the two waitresses called our dinner party inappropriate names followed by a strong suggestion to never visit the restaurant again. The only reason why this place gets one star is due to decent meals although they were overpriced as well.

If I was going to go to a bar for a nice frozen margarita, this is the place I would go. It has a nice looking bar and a lot of good tequila. However, I went there for dinner. The chips and salsa at the beginning were very good. Fresh chips. Good spicy sauce. The frozen margarita was good (asked for salt but the glass was so full, it melted the salt... that can be a good thing, and was). My caesar salad was as basic as possible. Cut lettuce on a taco shell (replacing the croutons) but only 1/2 of the lettuce had dressing on it. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough dressing on the one-half to coat the other half... I got more dressing. The ceviche wasn't that great. Based on an earlier review, we specifically asked if the shrimp was cooked. The server asked the kitchen and was told it was only "cooked" in the lime... we got the ceviche... if it wasn't cooked, the halved (lengthwise) shrimp was pretty stiff, as if it had been cooked. Now I understand, shrimp is different than fish, there's more bacteria so you need to "lightly" saute the shrimp to kill the bacteria on the outside. However, it probably isn't a good idea to split the shrimp lengthwise before you saute them. They would probably be more tender if they were kept whole. We ended up sending it back for another appetizer. My chicken burrito was very good (that's how they got a two!). However, I ordered it with guacamole ($1 extra) and the guac came out on the plate, not in the burrito (OK, maybe that's just a personal preference, you tell me what you think). Would they have added the peppers that way? The fish was a little lackluster. Either the salsa had little flavor or the salsa was overpowered by the fish. Either way, it wasn't the best designed combination. But, that could have just been that particular night. I don't think we will give them another chance. Let us know what you think.

After reading some less than stellar reviews, my husband and I decided to try this place for ourselves and we were not sorry we did. Apparently, since hiring a new chef, there have been some great tasting meals at Diego's which we were happy to experience. The shrimp ceviche salad appetizer was fresh and tasty. We also tried the tamales and that was also good. My mahi with mango salsa was flavorful and moist. My husband had the short rib special and was happy with that as well. Dessert was an authentic Mexican tres leche cake so moist it melted in the mouth! I would definitely recommend eating here in this cozy setting.

Diego's was on our go-to list for a while. We went once and found the experience very average. But, after seeing their unprofessional manner on Facebook, there's just no way we'll go back..It's one thing to convey clarity and customer service, but passive aggressively attacking customers, whether they were ignorant or not, is simply not a successful approach for any business in the service industry. Reputation is paramount in food service, and while some may enjoy a fleeting victory for barking back at a rude patron, it's still barking nonetheless. As tacky (and at times phony) as the program Restaurant Stakeout is on The Food Network, I'd suggest tuning in to learn about William Jack Degel's philosophy on customer service in the restaurant world. It may help Diego's achieve a more positive reputation down the road.

Since I could not do three and a half stars, I rounded up. My hubby and I were driving by to find parking near here, so we could go to our favorite Indian food restaurant, which is on the same block as Diego's. I have been trying to find some decent local Mexican food, since we live in Secane, and I had only found two places that were a bit farther than I like to drive unless meeting friends(One in Conchohocken and one in Manayunk). I had a Mahi Mahi with fruit salsa dish, and hubby had a HUGE burrito, and tortilla soup. Diego's is good, but I tend to agree that the food is not as spicy as one would think a Mexican dish would be. However, that is easily solved by asking the waitress for pico de gallo, green chile sauce or red chile sauce ( I am in love with the green) . Other than that, the drinks were good, the prices were decent, and the atmosphere for the most part was right on the money (With the exception of the music being up a bit too loud). I'd definitely go here again :)

This is truly an all around awesome restaurant - great food in authentic mexican style, fantastic drinks loaded with alcohol, and top notch bartenders and servers. My friends and I are very happy repeat customers. All our meals have been cooked to perfection and it's impossible to stop ordering the drinks because they're so good. Definitely ask for a bartender's choice drink, you're guaranteed to love it. Diego's has a vibrant bar atmosphere and I love how all age groups are represented (don't bring kids to this place please!). I have to give a special shout out for the servers, who are terrific. I was there the night Plaid Shorts and his group stiffed the server with a couple pennies tip. Hopefully they don't return because this place is way too good to put up with that behavior. But if you do return, leave your pennies and the Plaid Shorts at home

I am beyond shocked to see this place only has three stars on Yelp. I really expected to see four at the minimum if not five. We had a completely different experience here than the people who left negative reviews. We found the portions to be huge, the service excellent, the décor beautiful and the prices incredibly reasonable. I don't who thinks $10 for three tacos is "steep." Perhaps that person is used to Taco Bell or something. I mean, how much cheaper do you want them to be? Someone else on here called the mohitos "disgusting." I thought it was the best I have ever tasted. Yes, it is not overly sweet, but I do not like overly sweet drinks. If you're looking for super sugary, syrupy drinks, maybe the mohito isn't for you, but I thought it was awesome and totally perfect. The wild mushroom quesadilla was 100% mind blowing; best I've ever had. My pork mole was the best mole sauce I've ever tasted. It was neither thin nor bitter, which can often be the case at Mexican places. The tres leche cake was out of this world. Even the coffee was fantastic and rich. Overall it was outstanding. Our server was fantastic and incredibly friendly. Her name is Willow. You'll be lucky if you get her. She was wonderful. One of things I liked best about the experience was that the staff works in a team. I hate it when I go to a place and ask for something from one of the staff, and they look at me as if they are shocked I would ask such a thing, and say "uhm... I'll get your server." I hate that. Here, it was totally different. All of the waitstaff helped each other and everyone was smiling. I got the feeling they were enjoying their jobs. It was a fantastic evening and I can't wait to go back and try everything else on the menu. Oh, and it's a must for tequila fans; they have a huge selection. We got out of there for like $77 soup to nuts and that's with ordering the most expensive entrées, drinks, two apps, dessert and coffee.I have already invited several Media friends to come with us next time and we're planning on it in the near future.

Sadly, we couldn't have asked for a more disappointing dinner tonight at Diego's. The food was bland and uninspired. Every dish our table ordered was mediocre. We won't be back anytime soon.

went on Saturday before the Roots Ramble started and damn good meal. it's as authentic mexican food you can get outside a real tacorilla and not the typical americanized crap out there. if you expecting lots of nonsense with your food like a taco bell does this might not be the place for you. the steak for the tacos are chopped fine and not stripped so you need to order down in temp. the free salsa is very mellow so you will need to add some hot sauce that is on the table. the Queso Fundido was unreal. the Margaritas are made fresh with freshly squeezed limes and a whole mess of tequila. way better than Dos Gringos

I went out for my birthday in Media and someone told me there was a tequila bar around the corner, so I thought why not? I'll keep this as short as possible. The service was sub par. The bartenders were rude to every person in my group and the actual service was absurdly slow. The margarita I got was all sour mix, which the bar tenders blamed the taste on the use of "fresh lime". I don't think so. I've had a lot of ritas in my days and this was by far the worst I've ever had. My boyfriend went to order a shot of tequila and instead of asking which kind he'd like, they just spun around and poured from a bottle without saying a word. They are a TEQUILA bar! They have dozens of options and didn't even ask which kind he would like! I'll be steering clear of this place any time I go out in Media. Bottom line - awful drinks and terrible service.

Bad, just bad! Not good service or drinks, food was OK. Hostess was also the bartender... what's up with that? Margaritas served in the wrong glasses. I ordered straight up and was it was served as a half full rocks glass. Food was dry. No condiments for either entree. First and last visit, no one cared about anything. Would never go there again.

Some friends and I wandered in to this place while on a mini bar crawl. I really liked the decor, and the bartender was very friendly. Their drink specials are good too. If, I can recall, it was $2 for a Stella during happy hour. The margarita's are scratch made several varieties. I was pretty unimpressed with the food. The chicken and beef tacos were bland. Ditto to the enchilada my friend tried. $9 for two tacos is a tad ridiculous when they arent great. My only other note is that they could use a foyer. In the winter, cold breezes blow through the bar area.

Not sure what the people below me are so cranky about... Service was fine, although I was there at a relatively quiet time. The "Diego's Nachos" were delicious and the burritos (I got a steak burrito) were enormous and delicious. Meal prep time was average and service was fine. However, like I said above, it was a quiet time to I can't be a good judge. I give five stars because for my experience, the service was good and friendly, the prices were reasonable, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this place.

Just had a cocktail called "The last word." A wonderful drink. Follwed by Ocho Blanco and a hop devil. Very tasty. Ceviche and taquitos, wonderful. So if you want to hang with friends and have a great time with good food and drink, come on in and enjoy.

Describing this place as 'meh' is generous. Mexican food is a cuisine known for its bright flavors and seasoning and, with its bastardization of classics (i.e. watery ketchup-tasting salsa, soggy, chewy nachos, and bland chicken enchiladas), Diego's fails in the food department. I usually don't drink but the blackberry-basil margarita was definitely the savior of this less-than-stellar meal. A return visit is definitely not in the cards.

$8 for about 4 scoops of guacamole???? Yep that is what it is. Salsa in a 2 ounce sample cup?? Yep this place has that too. Bland tasteless chicken? Bingo! These things can only equal one thing..the trifecta of mediocrity ..at best! Was so excited to find this place in my town of Media. Unfortunately, I give it a 2 out of 10 and will never eat there again unless they change guacamole prices or sizes and add some flavoring to the chicken!

I'd really like to give Diego's 2.5 stars, but since that's not possible, I had to round down. Sorry! Whoever designed this restaurant did a really great job. The space is well used and the tables aren't on top of each other, which is nice. The bar area is really beautiful too. Good job, designer(s)! Service here is one of the best I've had in Media, so no complaints there. Whatever you're doing, keep doing it! Okay now for the food/drinks. There is a daily happy hour from 4-6 but the happy hour prices are only applicable when you're sitting at the bar. Seriously, what's up with Media? I know Azie across the street does the same thing but, conveniently for them, only has bar seating for like 10 people. Complete ripoff if you ask me, which is why I usually stick to hanging out in the city. We had the mango and pomegranate margaritas to start, which were pretty good but a little weak with the tequila. The complimentary chips and salsa weren't bad - I saw some complaints about the salsa on Yelp and I agree it was watery, but the flavors were pretty solid. The guacamole was pretty okay, so I'd suggest that for an appetizer. For our entrees, my mom ordered a salad (not even worth mentioning), my sister got the chicken quesadilla, and I ordered the chorizo burrito. All of us agreed that the entrees were good (I can't get over how much that salad looked like a pile of bland rabbit food to me), but there was nothing that really made them stand out. I would probably go back here again for the happy hour (AT THE BAR), but not for dinner. As a sidebar menu comment: We didn't order the fajitas because they were priced at $19, but I saw an order go by the table and wasn't impressed. $19? You've got to be kidding me. How is this one of the most expensive things on the menu? And while I'm at it, there is outdoor seating for like 5 people. Not even kidding. You can barely call it outdoor seating...it's more like a waiting area.

I wanted to like this place. I have been a handful of times, twice with a friend, and twice with my husband and 9 year old son. It's a cute place, and a lively bar crowd. But after my last visit, I had to write up a review. We were there on a Friday night to celebrate my birthday. We received the "house made" tortilla chips in a bowl, most of which were smashed to small pieces. The chips were okay tasting, but would have been significantly better if they had not been the scraps from the bottom of the bag. The salsa here changes it seems each time I go. This time, it was slightly chunky and tasted okay. My issue with the salsa is that they give you the equivalent of a jello shot worth of salsa to share between the entire party. Not enough, even if it is free. For my entrée, I ordered the chicken quesadilla. This is what prompted me to write the review. The quesadilla was large and the tortillas were okay. But the chicken and the cheese inside were absolutely awful. The chicken had absolutely no seasoning. I couldn't figure out how they could have possibly made it so bland. I couldn't have cooked chicken this poorly had I tried, and trust me, I'm no gourmet chef. The cheese in the quesadilla appeared to be some type of white Mexican cheese, but just like the chicken, it had absolutely no flavor. None. For about $12, including the extra cost for the fairly bland quacamole, I expect a lot more. I make chicken quesadillas at home and they are far better than what I got at Diego's. And again, I am no chef. I seriously cannot figure out how they managed to make it the most bland thing I have ever tasted. Even the toppings of salsa, shredded lettuce, and guacamole couldn't redeem it. I had 2 bites and was finished. When the waitress saw that I barely touched it, she asked me how everything was, seeming to "get it" that I didn't care for it. I hate confrontation so I just said, "Fine" and left it at that. As I said at the top, I wanted to like this place and gave it several chances, but unfortunately that was my last visit. Media needs a decent Mexican restaurant badly.

I wanted to dislike this place because it had replaced my forever favorite coffee shop but i couldn't. The food was really good on a busy saturday night in October when we popped in at 9pm for dinner. Fresh guacamole and chips. Good, reasonably priced cocktails. A nice addition to the west side of Media

Stopped in Diego's for a quick lunch yesterday... My mom and I thought it was great - our server was friendly and attentive, the food came out quickly, and we liked the decor/ambience. The guacamole was freshly made just the way I like it (chunky with onions, tomatoes, cilantro and lime juice) but I wasn't overly fond of the chips they served with it, although they were homemade so I give them kudos for that. I've been wanting to try Huevos Rancheros for a while now, so as soon as I saw them on the menu, I decided to go for it. My mom ordered them as well. We really enjoyed them, although never having had them before, we didn't have anything to compare them to. I would definitely order them again, but I think a sprinkle of cilantro would put them over the top!

This is a pretty new spot in Media and a nice addition! Ive spent time at both the bar portion and the restaurant portion and both have been fairly good! The food is very good! its really good traditional Mexican food and specials that not every place has, like plantains (unless I haven't been going to the right places). each time I've been here I haven't had anything that wasn't delicious, however I have to say it is a bit pricey. The bar is great and the bartenders always are fun and talkative. They have a great selection of tequilas and a few Mexican beers our of the norm. The place itself has a neat atmosphere as well! It was a great place to hang with friends and not feel like you are at a local bar!

Man, Diego's has really lost its glimmer for me. I've been back about 4-5 times since my initial review and this place doesn't do it for me anymore. During my first few visits, the service was excellent and the bartenders were friendly. Now, the service is hit or miss at best and the relationship that the bartenders have with some of their regulars is just annoying at this point. Last night wasn't the first time that a group of friends and I have decided to go elsewhere due to the noise level created by not just a group at the bar, but the bartenders joining in themselves. It will be the last though. I don't think I'll be back. The quality of the drinks have suffered, as have the size of the glasses they use, while prices remain the same. It doesn't make sense, and neither does the degeneration this place has had over the last few months.

Great place. Good atmosphere. The bar top is the best I have ever seen, especially with the open wood tequila shelves behind it. Nachos are fresh made, not those store bought crap everywhere else. Tacos are perfect portions and I walk away full but nor stuffed. That's a plus in my book.

Great food, Great tequila, great service. After a little over a month of being open, I'd say they are on their way to something awesome. Dan, our bartender knew tons of info on tequila (and all the other liquor they had). The lovely tatted barmaid concocted a "bartender's choice" beverage - with tequila, of course. The other servers seemed friendly. Everyone was making friends at the bar. Good feeling all around. As far as food is concerned: definitely a different kind of salsa. Nice and mellow - little bit of smokiness to it. Fresh chips (had to add salt), nice and crunchy. Home made for sure. Enchilladas are the way to go. REAL CHICKEN!!! Same goes for the chicken burrito. Not the shredded stuff, mind you, but great cubed chicken breast. It may seem pricey, but you pay for what you get! Jicama Salad was fresh and light. And of course the margarita was stellar. Tart and boozy. Just how I like it. Love the everyday siesta happy hour. 4 to 6. EVERYDAY. Even weekends! Let's just say, I am new to town and just found a place to become a regular.

I've been here several times now and have had great experiences each time. The servers and bartenders have all been really friendly and attentive, the food is awesome and the drinks have been excellent 99% of the time. The chicken quesadilla is possibly my favorite. The food and drinks are a little pricey, but not bad enough to keep me away.

I came to Diego's on a Wednesday night for a liquid dessert, and it was great! Our drinks were amazingly delicious, and the bartender, Miller, was awesome! Obvs I can't speak to the food, but I would definitely pop back in here for drinks again... I'm one of those people who even at 29 still needs to take time to think about what to drink, but Miller just whipped something up for me and it was super yummy!

Very friendly staff, especially the bartenders. Try the Bartender's Choice! I ended up with an egg in my drink and felt like Rocky. The food is flavorful with good portion size and presentation. I have been here a few times with friends and it's always an awesome experience.

My favorite spot in Media to get a drink and meet people. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. The decor is unique and exciting. It is visually appealing while maintaining a classic hometown feel (and Cortez the knight is an excellent bouncer). The food, while tasty, is a bit overpriced. Otherwise, a perfect evening out.

State street has some good food and drinks all up and down it but this place is kind of the sore thumb of it all. They are trying to fit in and offer the higher the middle class like atmosphere, since the location calls for it, but the food and drinks lack alot to be considered equal to other restaurants on the street. My mojito was basically water, my girlfriends drink was told to us from the waitress to be "from a bag" so nothing is really fresh made at the tequila bar like most would expect it to be. I ordered the mahi mahi with tropical salsa beans and rice, it came out cooked to a crisp tasting like charcoal and covered in shredded mango, not in anyways was it tropical salsa. It was a big disappointment for a $22 dish. You definitely don't get what you pay for here like you do at other places on state street.

I hate to give such a low rating because our experience there was pretty great. Everything was perfect until the food came. Our waitress Caitlin was fantastic. She was always there when we needed her and not to the point where it was annoying. The drink selection was great and the margaritas were delicious. We were reluctant to order food because the prices are extremely steep but because everything was going well so far, we decided to order anyway. I ordered fajitas and my sister ordered tacos. When the food arrived, we were surprised by the portion size...it's a lot of food! We each took one bite and almost spit the food out. It was awful. We couldn't tell if the chicken was undercooked or had been stored in the freezer too long. I didn't even want to take a second bite. We didn't want to complain so we struggled to make it look like we were enjoying it. I ate around the chicken and it wasn't bad but I was pretty annoyed when the $80 bill came for such an awful meal. I understand the price for the portion size, but when you can get better food at Taco Bell, the price is absolutely ridiculous.

As a 20-year area resident, I am very pleased to see Media growing restaurant-wise and the more ethnic and diverse eateries, the better. Unfortunately, Diego's misses the mark significantly when it comes to the food. The space, formerly occupied by the Coffee Club, has been recast as a bar and restaurant. The space is narrow and deep, but I think the owner has done a good job working within these confines. Service was attentive and the drinks were good (albeit a bit pricy for anything other than beer). However, it is the quality of the food that casts the longest shadow and in this department, Diego's gets a D. The menu is relatively small (a single place mat sheet), with just a couple of appetizers, a handful of salads and traditional offerings. I agree with another reviewer who commented that the "dip" that came with the complementary chips was odd and seemed like a combination of marinara sauce and mayonnaise. In any event, it didn't have the freshness of a salsa or pica de gaillo (and in my opinion, lacked the proper texture as a chip accompaniment) and after one taste, it sat on our table untouched. On a positive note, we ordered the guacamole as an appetizer and found it delicious. Unfortunately, this was the only positive amongst the food we ordered. One of my dining companions ordered the ceviche as an appetizer, but it proved to not really be ceviche at all (that is, if you define "ceviche" as seafood that has been chemically "cooked" in citrus juices). The dish was somewhat of a chopped salad with some lettuce, onions, jicama and sliced shrimp. The dressing did have some citrus acidity, but it seemed to all of us who tasted that the shrimp had been boiled and dressed rather than allowed to marinate. It wasn't terrible but I guess if that is the best that can be said for a dish, then it really can't be recommended. Among the other lows of the evening: shrimp tacos with a miserly amount of small shrimp, fish tacos with greasy tilapia that looked like it had fallen apart and separated from its breading, and a (supposed) roast pork burrito that was loaded with slimy-textured rice and beans and nearly devoid of meat. Which brings me to another point and major misstep: the tacos and burritos are served unaccompanied by any cheese, salsa, jalapenos or other complementing condiment. The menu notes a separate and distinct upcharge for each of these items: e.g. jalapenos are an extra $.50, cheese an extra $1, etc. It is pretty ridiculous to go to a mid-scale Mexican restaurant and be nickel and dimed for some of the very touches that make Mexican food distinctive. I am not a huge fan of Dos Gringos-- Media's other Mexican eatery-- but the food there is well better than Diego's and you can bring your own tequila and beer and make a nice (if not extraordinary) meal out of it. I would not recommend Diego's to anyone planning on having a meal there.

First time going was for happy hour, and I was impressed! Ambiance is great, love that the front opens like a garage door giving it an open feel. Margaritas were awesome! Didn't try the food, but I will be back to try it!

I've been here a few times, and each time it's been "OK". The food here is good, but a tad overpriced. The drinks are good, but again, a little overpriced. The service is hit or miss, sometimes they are very understaffed. One issue I always notice is that it's HOT in there. During the winter it's not too bad, but if you go in the summer, be prepared to sweat!

Diego's is alright, nothing on their menu seemed to impress me at all and their prices seems a little high for "so-so" food. Also I swore that one of the bartenders was hitting on my boyfriend, it was very uncomfortable.

Margarita al Fresca!!! The only thing that beats it... the bartenders choice. I have NEVER been disappointed with any drink I've been served. And I'm super picky. Guacamole is amazing, made fresh daily served in VERY generous portions. We always run out of chips before we run out of guacamole! Everything I've ever had here is great and I'm a regular. I highly recommend the roast pork empanadas, delicious.

I wanted to like this place much more than I actually did. They didn't have much to offer as far as variety of margaritas: frozen lemon, iced lemon, and a chipotle honey. The frozen lemon was pretty good. The food was portioned right and fried fish burrito was very fresh but again not much of variety and was a little over priced. The happy hour specials looked good including $2.50 corona bottles. I'll come back but probably to try the tequilas. Overall a good meal but I've definitely been to some better cantina/tequila bars.

If you want great Mexican food (and/or a good night out), do not go here!! The food is bad. The drinks are bad. And the service is worse. If you like to spend money on pretentious bartenders, then this may be your place. Super overpriced. I've searched high and low for good Mexican in Delco. Sadly, still looking.

Never in my entire life have I experienced a host so rude and insulting. Sorry our children were such a bother, dude, but you have a children's menu, which call me crazy, typically means you will accommodate children. And as much as we wish that kids age 4, 3, 1, and 4 months were little soldiers of obedience, sometimes it doesn't happen. The baby cried, the four year old was grumpy when she was hungry. The host walked by our table and dropped passive aggressive... no straight up aggressive... comments. Oh and PS, the salsa was frozen. Blah!

It was Cinco de Mayo and in the spirit of the holiday, my friend and I decided to grab Mexican for lunch. We expected them to be busy for lunch, but they only had one server working...really? We waited about 5 minutes to be seated and our server came over fairly quickly with homemade tortilla chips with red salsa and hotter green salsa. We also ordered margaritas; she got a regular frozen margarita while I got the pomegranate with sugar on the rim. The drinks were definitely on point, but a tad overpriced ($10) although her frozen one was only $6. Even in Old City, I never paid over $7 for a drink! It took about 30 minutes after we placed our order to receive our food (2 chicken quesadillas) By the time we received them, we were pretty full from the chips and salsa! The only other thing is that I asked for extra sour cream and got one cup on the side (when it was supposed to come with it anyway) and was charged $1 extra. The quesadillas were great, but I feel they were a tad overpriced as well. I may go back some time, but won't go out of my way to go since we were there for about an hour and a half to get two quesadillas and some drinks! Our server was great though I don't understand why they only had one on Cinco de Mayo especially when they had a full bar and about 8 tables of people.

5 star service from Shana (sp?) and Kaitlyn (sp?) but 2 star food. Absolutely DRY al pastor burrito - but I was too full from scarfing down over-salted chips to eat much anyway. Took over 1/2 home. Drinks were good - the pineapple cilantro Marg being the best of the lot. Considering it was "Dining Under the Stars" (we had a prime table in the front of the house near the open window) it could have been worse. I really want to give them higher marksand Ionly come here a few times per year - and the service is great but the food needs work.

With a surprisingly robust amount of Mexican food places in Delaware County, Media has a lot to live up to in the highly competitive dining dollars on State Street. For my experience at Diego's, there were a lot of great things to like about it, but a few key misses kept if from being a five star review. Atmosphere - Directly off of State Street, Diego's is nestled neatly tucked away up toward the courthouse. The main entrance opens fully in the summer and allows for some al fresco style seating for those wanting to eat outside. Inside, a generous dining area awaited my diner and I as we sat down for dinner. Booths are pretty comfortable with a tacky tabletop, good for keeping food on the table. Our table also was right near a skylight, which was great for the ability to see and enjoy our food. Waitstaff - Our waitress was prompt at bringing us chips and dips, our drink orders, and even our entrees. When my one guest did not like her drink, she happily replaced it with a different kind at no charge. Good personality and able to keep a complicated food order in her head. Pleasant and bringing the check as well. Food - Okay, so we got food and drinks here, and I must say, if we didn't get drinks, it might have been a better review. We started with some chips which some were over fried a bit and more chewy then crunchy. It did however, come with fresh chunky salsa and salsa verde, both of which made them taste better. For our entrees, I went with the three taco platter, where all three were outstanding (chicken, pork, and tilapia [fish]). All really good, but the upcharge for the lettuce and pico is a bit much? My other diner got a great burrito. Burrito was super meaty and had a great mix of rice, guac, and other stuff. We also split some guacamole with our chips as well, and while good, not really a chunky guac, more of a creamy, smooth texture. Our drinks here were just not good, sorry, can't really defend these at all. I tried the house Hard Cider, which was watery and pretty bland, no crispness or taste other then sugar. My other diner got the house sangrias, which the watermelon one was awful, really sweet almost sugary, the blueberry one she replaced it with was a bit better, but again, super sweet and had the lower end red wine aftertaste it was used with. Intangibles - Not sure if they have A/C here, but even with the front open, being seated near the back only allowed us to use ceiling fans. On a humid day, it just circulates humid air which makes you more hot. Pretty pricey for two diners ($50 for 2), but factor in we did get drinks as well. If you're going, use the lot on Orange Street after 6:00pm for free parking, three tier lot down the block fills up rather quick. Overall - Definitely worth another try here next time, just might skip the alcohol. If you're going in the summer, be prepared for a bit of heat on a hot day, but for the great food and taste, worth the trip out. Good for lunch or dinner, but if you're going for drinks, still to things you already know and drink here.

I've been to this restaurant twice, once for dinner in 2014 and just recently for lunch. Overall, things seemed slightly overpriced (ie. $8 for a tiny bowl of guacamole and chips!) underwhelming. It seems like a great bar, but I'll probably opt to go to Dos Gringos instead for Mexican food in Media Borough. For the dinner I had, I got enchiladas with mole sauce; there was really nothing to them taste-wise. Also, my order of Platanos was by far the least impressive example fried bananas/plantain that I've ever had. I tried the Carne and the Mahi Mahi as well. The fish was pretty bland, however the side of re-fried beans was above average. The Carne was well spiced and pretty tasty, but the meat was very chewy/fatty. For my most recent lunch, I had the enchiladas again but with green and some tortilla soup. Both were pretty bland. The enchiladas were made with dark-meat chicken-- the first time I had enchiladas like this, I did not like it at all. The refried beans, this time, were very dry. There are two Mexican restaurants in Media, and both opened within the past two years. I'd highly recommend Dos Gringos, which is a BYOB/T, over Diego's. I've gotten very impressive meals at Dos Gringos with some of the best service I've ever experienced while dining in Media. That being said, I'm sure Diego's will hold it's own in being a great drinks/happy hour spot in the borough (they do have Dos Equis Amber on tap!)

Just stopped in to check it out. Surprisingly nice place. Very comfortable. Friendly staff. Well stocked bar with an exceptional variety of tequilas. I ordered their house margarita which I must say was absolutely delicious! Overall, I really like this place and I can't wait to visit again.

Have been here a few times for drinks. The house margaritas are mediocre and small. The trio of tacos is ok, but what's with the al a carte charge for lettuce and such? And the worst part... $8 for a small side of guacamole! $8.00!! And it's not that great. They could do so much better.

Went here for lunch one Saturday, first they started us off with some chips and salsa. This was some hot salsa that I could not stop eating. I had to keep washing it down with pints of cervaza. I had the 24 hour marinated pork tacos with onions, cilantro and pineapples. They were delicious. The wife had chicken fajitas, they 2 were also good as I sampled one of hers. This place will be perused again as we had a great experience with the service the food and being able to eat outside on their patio. Next time we will try them for dinner.

Wow; where is the owner or manager? If I owned this restaurant I would be furious over the lack of concern by the waitstaff. We walked in the first time and no one greeted us. Left and ate somewhere else and came back for a margarita. We sat at a table for 20 minutes while at least 5 employees did not acknowledge our presence. Finally we asked if we were going to get service and got a flippant answer. I used the bathroom; no toilet paper, dirty, etc. and what I believe to be a male employee, was going to the bathroom with the door open in the men's room. Such a shame.

Decided to try Diego's for takeout only, because Yelpers told me service sucked, and that the bar crowd is a bunch of wanna-be hipster-posers, and I listen to warnings such as these. Fine. I called to order. I could hear in the background that they were busy so I asked the waitress if she was sure they could handle a takeout order (I am sensitive to stuff like this because I waitressed for 5 years in my 20s). She said it was not a problem but that it would be a 45 minute wait. Fine. My husband arrived 40 mins later to pick up our order. Someone brought it half-way out and sat it next to the Margarita machine. My husband sat there LOOKING AT OUR ORDER, WAVING HIS HANDS IN THE AIR AT THE BARTENDER and NO ONE HELPED HIM. This went on for 30--yes, THIRTY--MINUTES. If this had been me, I would have walked out. Or, I would have waited for them to give me the order, dumped it on the floor, and then walked out. My poor husband is a REALLY nice person, and frankly, it was one of those situations where he had waited so freaking long, and was so freaking hungry, that he just wanted his food. Our total was $41 and change. We had graciously tried a number of menu items since it was our first time there. I had asked for a side of guac as well. My husband made sure to ask about the side. The bags were tied so he couldn't see in. They assured him it was there (it wasn't). The place was packed with sloppy drunk idiots so my husband didn't argue and left. When he got home, our meals were LEAKING OUT OF THEIR CONTAINERS. It was DISGUSTING. Half the food was lost out the container into the bag. The rest? Completely COLD since it sat for a half hour beside a margarita freezing machine! The taste? There was no taste. So how can I describe it? Cardboard? Sawdust? It was all dried out, cold, and was worse than public school cafeteria food. Absolutely nasty. I called Diego's as soon as my husband got home and told them about the cold food, the missing side (that my husband went out of his way to make sure they included, and they lied about it), and the fact that it all leaked out of the containers into the bag, a feat that no takeout I have ever gotten has managed to do except crappy Diego's (and this includes SOUP from Wawa--yes, Wawa does a better job than a $41 takeout place). The manager, Shanna, didn't get around to calling back until 2 days later. She was kind of apologetic but mostly defensive--a sign that I am not their first, or even tenth issue, why else be defensive? I think Shanna went to the Mall Restaurant Management School, because the way she talked to me is like how I would expect to be talked to at Chuck-E-Cheese's. She either took me for an idiot, or was so much of one herself that she couldn't fathom non-idiot speak well enough to rise above. She'd say she was sorry, then point out that they were so busy like it was an excuse. Then she'd say she wanted to comp us a drink, and when I told her I am in my 30's and married, and hanging with dirty 20-year-olds at a bar is not my thing, she seemed to not understand why I didn't think Diego's was as cool as she did (even though she sounded as old as 45-50). I told her we just wanted a refund for the side they charged for that they never gave us, and a courtesy credit for the food that leaked out of our containers, and the fact that it was all cold after a 70-minute wait (I left the disgusting taste out of it because she was defensive enough as it was). To me, it was more than warranted to be offered a partial refund. To me, I should not have had to ASK after I described what I did. Shanna's reply? She claimed our side was only $1 (though we were never given an itemized receipt), and she said it like I was in the wrong to dare ask her to refund $1 even if they charged me for something I didn't get, because it was only $1. Seriously? She was arguing me? (Mall Mgmt School tactics) I think she and I were on different planets because when I pay $41+ for takeout, and I am a new customer, who was made to wait 70 MINUTES, and half my food spilled out, and the other half was cold because it sat beside a cooling machine instead of a heat lamp, to me, that is the main issue. To me, that is a HUGE issue. The fact that they charged me for a missed side is only further embarrassment for THEM, not me. But the bottom line is, any decent restaurant would be appalled by such shoddy service, and would have comped someone for it, no questions asked. The fact that Shanna was NOT appalled, is bizarre. The fact that Diego's has Shanna using such judgement as ambassador for the establishment, tells me about the level of class they are capable of rendering. In the end, Shanna showed all of the professionalism and fairness she could muster by refunding me $4 off my $41 meal. $4 back for a 70-minute wait, leaky/cold/gross food, and a missing side. So classy, Diego's. And this is why Diego's SUCKS!

Mexican food is mine and my husbands favorite cuisine. The atmosphere in diego's is on par, as is the drink selection. The nachos were awesome! But the two stars goes for the entrees which were just missing something, and simply pretty bland and overpriced for the quality. I ordered enchiladas in red sauce and my husband ordered some time of fried stuffed pepper on the special section of the menu.

Nothing offensive about lunch at this place, it's just that of four entrees 3 were mediocre and one suffered from old avacados. Maybe it just not a lunch place

Found this place on yelp glad we did. We were a large party coming for a late lunch. The service was okay. We got our drinks pretty fast we were a party of 8 and most got mixed drinks. The food wasn't too bad. Most of the table got the wings and everyone liked them. I got the tamiles they were good but they were hard to start since the were still wrapped and the ties were to tight to slip off, I had to use a pocket knife to cut the ties. Some got tacos and said they were tasty. Although it was said that the chicken was dry and had a canned chicken taste. But all together the meal was good and we would go back.

I was excited to eat here, but, unfortunately, was underwhelmed. I came with my family for lunch, party of 4. We got guacamole for an appetizer, and I ordered the al pastor tacos. The guacamole was pretty good. After that, it was downhill. The food took FOREVER to come out. We were sort of in a rush, had to catch a plane right after lunch. There were not that many people in there. The meat in my tacos was very very dry. It was supposed to have pineapple mixed in, but there was barely any in there. Good thing we saved some guacamole to make it less dry. There are so many other options in media, I probably will not be back here.

Great selection of tequila. Best margaritas around. Nachos are tasty but the rest of the food I've had, left something to be desired.

The staff was lovely. The parking was a pain (we were here during dining under the stars. aka no parking on the street the tables are outside) Miller knows his tequila, and the food is great. You would think during happy hour you would get less like most places, but this is not the case. Great food, nice margaritas (you can actually taste Mexico in them)! All in all unless I have an issue with them in the future I see this being my go to tequila bar in (PA).

I read the reviews that said this place was hit or miss. Well my experience this past Saturday night was a definite hit. The food was fresh and interesting and the waitress was friendly and helpful. My wife and I are always looking for that next level Mexican place and, at least on our first visit, this place passed the test. When we sat down, the waitress brought us chips and salsa. If the chips aren't made in house, they sure tasted like it. They were warm and crunchy. The salsa was a tangy brown mole style concoction which was great - smoky and spicy. Then we split a Diego's chopped salad which had fresh lettuce, bacon, cucumbers, and cactus bits. I don't think I've ever had cactus before but it was good. It had kind of a sour taste that, as the waitress pointed out, was a nice balance to the sweet, salty bacon. We also ordered a guacamole app. It was guac with chips, queso fresco, and some other bits. It was good but totally unnecessary as we'd eaten a bowl and a half of chips before we even ordered. But the guacamole was very fresh. My wife was trying to decide between fajitas and some other dish and asked the waitress for guidance. This happens a lot and usually it's just a matter of what you're in the mood for. Some servers will say, "it depends what you're in the mood for". While this is an honest response, it's not ever what the person asking the question is looking for. At Diego's the waitress responded quickly and definitively, "get the fajitas". The fajitas turned out to be very good with nice pieces of chicken that were tender and juicy (as opposed to dry and stiff, which is a concern with fajitas) and the vegetables were fresh, colorful and cooked just past crunchy but short of limp which is perfect. Ideally, in this situation, the waitress is familiar with the kitchen and advises you to order the dish that she knows the kitchen will do well. I think that's what happened here. But even if she was mentally flipping a coin, her certainty and decisiveness are really the most important element in the exchange. It gave us the feeling that the waitress cares about our experience and knows what she's talking about. She really was great (wish I'd gotten her name). We asked her some questions about how long the place had been open, etc. and she had all the answers and the patience to deliver thoughtful responses. I had a lamb special with a red wine reduction, side of chorizo and potato hash (see picture). It was very good. I wasn't sure this was the right place to order such a thing but when I told the waitress I was strongly considering the lamb special she gave me a confident nod and backed it up with testimony. She said that they had it as a special last weekend too and every plate came back totally empty, a good sign for sure. It was very good and not at all what I expected to eat when I made the reservation. It was tender and tasty. It had enough distinct flavor to let you know that it was lamb and not beef but it wasn't gamey. It was like a mini rack of lamb and red wine reduction instead of traditional mint jelly (which I'm not a huge fan of so that worked out for me). Lastly, the drinks...They had two special margaritas. I had one and my wife had the other. For her, a mango strawberry deal and I had the blackberry basil one. Hers got high marks and I loved mine. It was outside the normal realm of margaritas that I've encountered. The flavors were a great combination. Round one had a nice booze to juice ratio while the booze clearly won round two which is fine with me. Some final thoughts: The bill was about $95 before tip ($30 in drinks) but the menus are paper placemats. Didn't seem to fit. The place may be caught between mid to upscale cantina and good time tequila bar. As we were leaving around 8:30, the bar was getting full with people in their 20's looking for stiff drinks. That's not an easy course to navigate and I wish them well. We'll be back soon con mucho gusto. Hopefully we have a similar experience next time.

We came here before a show at the Media Theater and will not return. Our server, Kevin, was very nice and helpful but the kitchen staff was atrocious. Our orders took forever, even though there were very few other diners, and were often incorrect. I ordered the guacamole which was delicious and the spicy tofu and grilled vegetable fajitas. The spicy tofu was awesome but I didn't get grilled veggies so I can't rate them. My boyfriend ordered the chicken tortilla soup which he said was bland and a chicken, a sausage and a veggie taco. He received a chicken taco with a huge bone in it, a sausage taco, and a beef taco. He said the tacos were bland, as well, and when he asked for a veggie taco without mushrooms, he was given a taco filled with lettuce, cabbage and mushrooms, barely sauteed. He had even told the waiter about the mushrooms in front of the "chef" who looked right at my boyfriend. For our trouble, we were supposed to get free dessert but instead of asking what we wanted, we just got free churros. I had two bites but didn't really want them and that was a waste. We don't live in the area but even if we did, I don't think we would give this place a second try. The prices were expensive for a place that serves their salsa in mini plastic to-go containers and uses hard red plastic glasses for water. Considering there are a million other places to try within a two foot radius, I am surprised that this place is still in business.

I rarely write Yelp reviews because much of what I would write has already been said. However, to see Diego's receive 3 stars feels out of whack to me. I am a long time Media resident and frequent the restaurants in the area. While, not the quality of Philly or the Main Line, I love the convenience and down home vibe. We haven't been to Diego's in over a year and wanted to give it another whirl. My advice is don't bother. Our dishes tasted like they could have come from the freezer of the supermarket. The food was not even mediocre. Save yourself the time and money and go to Dos Gringos although it is a BYOB.

Had celebratory lunch today for fellow employee transfering out west. Being someone who grew up in the southwest US can be a bit picky about Mexican food joints particularly in the eastern PA food market. Found Diego's to have very nice servers, the food was good and priced right, and we had excellent chips and salsas. Located in downtown Media, the area is a eclectic tourist destination my family enjoys visiting. Use the community parking garage off of Olive Street as the community may have heavy vehicle traffic on city streets. Will be back with family soon. Salud!

It literally took us at least 25 minutes to order r drinks there were at least 7 tables opened I ask the waitresses a if we could sit and she said yeah y not all the reserved seats were done for the night she said go to the hostess stand and tell that I would be serving us but the hostess were so rude said those table were reserved we were there for three hours and none of those tables were setted will never go back the only thing positive was the waitress and the two bartender

So I was down in Media doing some Courthouse stuff. Don't worry; I'm not a felon or anything. Everyone knows that all Yelp Elites are pure and sweet and innocent! :-) It was with some trepidation that I stopped in for lunch as the reviews here have been decidedly mixed. I sat at the bar about 11:40 and was greeted by bartender Vanessa. She's been working here since August and throughout my meal she was friendly, efficient, and informative. Speaking of informative, as we discussed the menu she mentioned that there had been a new chef/cook in place for about six weeks. I decided to go with the CHORIZO TACOS which here come as three for $9.50. For this price your tacos would be filled with meat, onion, and cilantro. Or, for an extra $2 you could get them Rancheros style. Pico de gallo, queso fresco, lettuce and crema would be added. Many folks would call these Americanized tacos. I went with it so my three tacos were going to set me back $11.50. They were out quickly and this was very decent three star food. There was plenty of filling and the chorizo was spicy. The other fillings were nice and fresh. My soft tacos were "singles" but I much prefer it when they are doubled. The cost is insignificant to the restaurant and they are much easier to eat. To wash them down I asked for a house margarita. This turned out to be a MARGARITA FRESCA which is an upscale version and goes for $8. It was properly potent and delicious but a couple of bucks too expensive for a lunchtime drink. Before I forget, my meal came with complementary house-made tortilla chips and spicy salsa. The chips were just OK but the salsa was very good as long as you like a little kick. I enjoyed the atmosphere and I'd return in a heartbeat for a solid three star meal and a decent drink. Note that I was slightly annoyed that there was no Wi-Fi here. Their Happy Hour sounds great so I may give that a try.

This is my goto Mexican restaurant in Media. The atmosphere is nothing special but it's cozy. The drinks are pricey but pretty good. I've had the queso fundido, pork empanadas, chicken enchiladas, and chicken quesadillas. All were decent. The desserts are really good too.

Great spot and went on a nice night where we could sit outside. Only complaint is I dont like authentic corn soft shells but wouldnt fault them for that, just a preference. We've been several times and will come back several more.

This place is hit or miss. I lived in Media for two years and went there a handful of times. Lunch time is awful. The food takes FOREVER. There is usually like one person working as both the bartender and the waitress. Expect to be there for a minimum of an hour for a quesadilla. It's insane. I was also told that they don't do sour cream with a quesadilla which is BS because I had it there before. Dinner time tends to be way better staffed and therefore better service. Food is always good but not astounding. Overall it's just meh.

The tequila list is impressive. Great service. I'll be back for sure. I went for dinner on a Friday night, and the bar was very busy. We were told there was a 30-45 minute wait, but were seated in about 20. Chips and salsa come standard like many Mexican spots. Salsa was good, and has a little kick to it. Chips were good. I ordered the steak fajitas. Steak was cooked perfectly and peppers were excellent. They could give you a few more tortillas though, 3 is not nearly enough for the mound of 'fajitas' they serve. Condiments are kept on the table although I did not need them. The staff was friendly. The place is clean. It's a little smaller than I expected. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant. I will be back again if I am in the area.

Gotta say the first time I came everything was good! Got seated quickly, drinks quickly followed us being seated. Apps not to long after, dinner right on cue with the rest of the flow of things! Waitress was top notch and took good care of us! Made sure we always had full drinks! (That's huge on my list)! Overall decent meal, service good experience! Fast forward a few months! WOW was I at the same place I don't think so! The place was fairly busy it's small so there are a few tables and booths in the front and middle of the place and a few tables in the back! We enter the place and were greeted by the hostess not bad. We were told is would be about a 15 minute wait to be seated we said fine there were a few open spots at the bar we would grab a drink or two! There was a special board when you walk in with a few drinks and food specials! We sat at the bar and asked for the drink special, I don't remember what it was sorry! But we were told we don't have that anymore? (Well maybe you need to remove it MAYBE). So I ask if they have any kind of ciders, again was told we ain't got to ciders! I got my standard Ketel One an ginger ale! My lady got some margarita drink. So after about 15 minutes the hostess came and told us or seat was ready, I asked the bartender if he could just move the drinks to our food tab? Guess what ( we don't do that type of thing here)! Ok thanks, so we walked past the middle of the restaurant mind you there are like 5 to 7 booths I believe and only one was occupied odd I thought! I did notice 4 waitresses on that night. So we were seated at the back table by the back door with a huge I mean huge plant behind one of the chairs! Table as small very small, I was like no way all those booths open. So I proceed to the nice hostess and kindly asked if we could move to an open booth if available or we don't mind sitting at the bar and waiting for a booth to open! I was told I would be waiting for a half an hour for a booth! I was like why they are open. She said it would be a half and hour wait. Or you could sit at this table and she pointed to the table right behind the hostess stand smack dab in the middle of the bar! The look I gave her must have let her know she was out of her mind! I said I'll deal with it! They bring out nachos and chips I post a picture and somebody please tell me what's wrong with the picture I post! From there it just went totally down hill! I don't feel the need to post anymore about this place! Sad cause the first time was good that really saved me from giving a zero star if it was available! I usually don't give reviews after one or two times. I like to go like 4 before I give a review because we all have bad days! But I was pissed so guess what i broke my own rule!!!

Excellent food and service! We stopped in for late lunch on Saturday and all 4 of us loved our meals. I am picky about salsa and absolutely loved the salsa they served with their crispy chips. I had the mushroom quesadilla and thought it was just delicious. We will definately be back!

Pay attention here, or simply move on: Another taco money pit where freshness was ignored. Good: Service and location. Fried apps. Bad: Value My experience: Taco beef was fatty. Side of guacamole had a jalapeno in it, is that standard? I like peppers, but I know not everyone does. Fish taco was so so, nothing special. Drinks not worth the price. Margarita's should be fresh if they start to approach stadium prices. Empanadas were the only good thing I ordered, but man it's tough to mess up fried food.

Well, the margaritas were good and so was our server. We came in on a rainy Thursday and sat at the bar. The chips and salsa were delicious. We had the plantain appetizer which was interesting. My friend had the tortilla soup and he thought it was off, he couldn't quite figure out why though. We both had burritos. I had the spicy tofu and it was not spicy at all. My friend had the pork and there was no pork. The burritos were dry with lots of red onion inside. Wanted to love this place, but just didn't.

Decent food and drinks but had to wait a crazy long time to even be noticed by the maître d/bartender/waiter/possibly cook? They need more staff pronto.

$19 for steak fajitas that included 6 small pieces of steak, and then tons of onions and peppers. No rice or black beans, although there were some other tiny sides. There was nothing special about the fajitas, I could have been at any cheap Mexican restaurant and would have expected about the same. Verdict: very poor value, and nothing special.

The margaritas were good enough for $10. My pork tacos were under-seasoned and not very warm. My friends Al Pastor tacos contained 2 pieces of pineapple and didn't taste different than my pork ones.

I dream about the queso fundido with chorizo when I'm not in Philly. Melted cheese and sausage spooned onto a warm flour tortilla (or right in your mouth, whatever) is my idea of delicious. The servers here are really friendly and attentive and won't let you feel neglected . This place isn't a taqueria, so don't expect two corn tortillas or radish slices or limes with your tacos, so with that said - just order it. I had the shrimp tacos rancheros style - shrimp was nicely seasoned and I loved all the "rancheros" toppings.

Went here for the first time tonight for dinner with my Mom. It had its ups and downs. Chips and salsa are served...which is always a bright spot of going to a Mexican/Spanish restaurant. They were pretty good. The chips tasted possibly stale. We had nachos as an appetizer...added guacamole. Both the nachos and the guac were good. My mom ordered a flavor of the month margarita...peach/mango and I ordered a chambord margarita. They both tasted like straight up tequila. If John Taffer from bar rescue visited this place, he would tell the bartender that more alcohol does not mean you'll have a better drink. I was charged $3 extra for Chambord but it looked like I barely got an eye droppers worth of Chambord. My Mom wouldn't drink hers and it got thrown away. I eventually finished mine once it got watered down. We both got the veggie burrito and got it "rancheros" style. It was good. I would try the enchiladas the next time. We liked the look of the place. It was very warm, though. The further back you went, the hotter it got. We were both sweating by the end and couldn't wait to put the air on in the car! The bathrooms are single stalls so it was constantly busy. It smelled like bleach which to me, is a sign of cleanliness. Everything was automatic...the sink, the soap, the paper towel dispenser. We were sitting all the way at the back of the restaurant by the door (and a plant). During our appetizer, I saw a very speedy ant spending across the table toward me. This grossed me out but it's summer and shit happens so I continued without making a scene. One was then on my Mom's arm and another one again on the table a few minutes later. We moved to the table across from us and notified the waitress. The manager came over to apologize. She seemed very friendly and sincerely sorry and let us know that she was going to get the exterminator in to take a look. She sent over complimentary churros which were AMAZING! However, when we were finished dessert and waiting for the check, there was another ant on the new table. We went to the hostess stand to ask for our check. At this point, I think we should have received a discount off of the check because it was pretty pricey which was fine on a regular day but considering the ant situation and the fact that my Mom didn't even drink her margarita...I think more should have been done. Nevertheless, it seemed like a nice place and the food was pretty good. Unfortunately, sometimes ants get unruly in the summer. Hopefully this was an isolated incident and will be taken care of. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. I will probably try it out again...when it's cooler out...and I definitely won't want to be seated in that back room!

Frozen margaritas are where it's at! Also, they make a delicious Sazerac. I'm not a huge fan of whiskey, especially rye, but this is perfectly citrusy and sugary to balance out the dry rye taste. Miller, the bartender will also put on a little show when you order one too, which is fun. The food here is not my favorite. I tend to go to the other Mexican joint up the street for Mexican food, but you can definitely get a good cocktail here.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
