Went here for lunch! Never heard of the place before. Had an awesome Black bean burger on a pretzel bun. The menu said "spicy black bean burger" so I was a little reluctant to try it...but I'm glad I did! It wasn't spicy at all. Very flavorful and I'd eat there again. I passed on dessert however I was VERY TEMPTED to try.

Healthy options that taste great and are fresh with a fun, funky kids menu to boot. So fun that I wanted to order of the kids menu had they not had a great limited time offer on a tasty sala with roasted red peppers, avocado, spinach and i added pesto. Super tasty dinner. My son had the rainbow mallow sandwich, rainbow bread, pb&j, marshmellows a fruit cup and for a buck you can add a second meal so he had the chicken sandwich on the yummy pretzel buns they have, rounded off with an ice cream sundae. The man had the steak club which he also enjoyed. Service is fast and friendly, was it not a bit steep in price I would have added another star, I think $30 is a bit excessiv for a sandwich, salad and kids meal since the portions are more lunch size. Overall still a fun chain in PA.

We love it! Portions are ample. Service is very good. I saw a complaint about price. Price is right. I mean, a quarter pounder meal cost just a little less $. Is there any comparison? Don't be ridiculous! Also, don't like the bread as described on the menu for a particular sandwich? They will happily substitute

I was not at this location, but the Rossmoyne one. Truthfully, the restaurant looked a bit dated, but the food was decent. I ordered the Flaming Chicken Wrap and was surprised at the quality of the food. I really appreciated the crunch of the tortilla strips in the wrap. I was travelling on business, so this was a restaurant choice of convenience, but I was pleasantly surprised by the food and the service.

This gem of a restaurant offers not just great food but an incredible staff! The restaurant manager has come around EVERYTIME we are in to make sure everything has been to our satisfaction. The waitstaff is friendly and quick! The food is delicious. VERY family friendly!!

This place was surprising to me. Based on appearances I wasn't sure how good it would be but I was pleasantly surprised! Their specialty soup was delicious!! I would definitely recommend ordering it if you go! I had a veggie wrap to go with it, which you have the option to build your own or order one from the menu. It was light and refreshing and it seems like everyone I was with enjoyed it too! The waiter was helpful and helped explain all our questions! Great place to go for a quick lunch!

Just had lunch here at Isaac's. Really nice restaurant atmosphere for a Deli. Can really relax and enjoy one of their many sandwiches to select from. My all time favorite is Hot Pastrami, but no where on the menu do they have Pastrami. Wonder if it is a New York thing. Ordered one of the Pretzel Sandwiches- Mallard-which had roast beef, bacon, melted cheddar with ikey's sauce (mayo) with a glass of water.

My favorite here is their spicy tomato bisque soup & chicken wrap or sandwich! Gives me the feeling of soul food!

This sit in sandwich shop is unlike anything I've eaten before! I would definitely travel from Carlisle to eat at this place again. Not only are there a large variety of sandwiches too choose from, but you can also customize your sandwiches any way you want. From the bread, to main meat or veggie, to all sorts of toppings and dressings. My sandwich included a soft and crispy kaiser roll. The breads are easy to hire into, and when toasted feel like heaven. This is by far my favorite sandwich restaurant. Kudos! :D

I wasn't sure what to expect here, but it was actually pretty good. I've honestly never been to a "sit down" deli before. It's also probably one of the few places I'd reccomend in Harrisburg--and I know we always send people from my work. Their sandwich bread was the best gluten-free item that I had all trip. I docked a star though because I asked my sandwich not to be served hot and it was. I didn't communicate to the server to fix it though, so I can't take off too many stars. He was also very attentive in re-filling our drinks and checking in with us. In the end, the roast beef with onion was still delicious! (And cheap).

I've always loved Isaac's. But especially now that they have gluten free bread. What a treat!!! We always stop here when we are traveling. Service is always good. And there is other shopping close by too.

my wife and i stopped in one afternoon for a early dinner. we had never been before but had heard good things. we were seated quickly but that was were the good service ended. the girl that sat us was not taking orders and she never told us who our server would be. we were left sitting and wondering when we would be waited on. there were a few empty booths around so am not sure if they were short handed, bit we continued to wait. as we were talking a different server rushes passed and practically threw a bowl of pickled vegetables at us. I guess that was suppose to hold us over. still not a word from anyone. no one bothered to say "hey, sorry we are short handed we will get to you" or anything. my wife and i began to feel very out of place. finally after a good twenty minutes my wife looked at me and said "we are leaving". well you know what they say "happy wife, happy life". we got up and walked out, and still not a word from any staff. we ended up somewhere else. we still have not had the opportunity to try the food, well we tasted the pickled vegetables...maybe they try a bread basket.

We love this place. Unique menu. Interesting starter dish. The best soup ever, Pepper Jack Tomato! Overall seems to be on the healthy side. Good prices. Catering (would have had them do my wedding if I was closer). The only negative thing I would have to say is that it is primarily a lunch type of place and lacks some warmth, if it had a warmer environment it would get 5 stars.

Isaac's is a staple in Central Pennsylvania, so although they don't use local ingredients (except the Utz chips which are made in PA) we felt we needed to check this place out. Unlike other sandwich shops which are self-serve order at the counter and seat yourself, Isaac's is full service. When we first walked in I was concerned over the service and food we would receive because all of the staff seemed to be about 18 and were all joking and talking to one another. However, the hostess immediately stopped talking the moment we came in and seated us and we soon learned that this cheerful young crowd took their jobs seriously. Our server Donavon was very pleasant and helpful. He took the time to check with the kitchen to see if any MSG was used in the food and returned to let us know that it was not. He also let us know that everything served there was made from scratch. We ordered a bowl of pepper jack tomato soup which came with one dirty and one clean spoon. Donavon was quick to replace it and very apologetic (hey, it happens). The soup was made with canned tomatoes, but still they managed to get a good flavor from it with a heat on the back that sneaks up on you. Overall it was nice. Their sandwiches are named for birds. We ordered the Cormorant which consists of a cranberry almond chicken salad and provolone cheese wrapped with copious amounts of shredded iceberg lettuce wrapped in a mild cheddar wrap, and a Firebird which is Buffalo grilled chicken on a pretzel bun with ranch, swiss, onion and spinach. We felt the cheese really clashed with the sweet chicken salad and the Buffalo chicken completely lacked flavor and spice. They could improve on the Cormorant simply by removing the cheese and changing the wrap, or adding chopped Granny Smith apples to the mix to give it some acid and balance it out. And the Firebird could be improved simply by blending ranch with Franks hot sauce and using that as the sauce on the sandwich. That being said, this place would still beat any of the national sandwich chains hands down, though the bill for two of us was over $30, so it is not without a price. We also cannot write this review without mentioning that this company does what they call "Community Night Fundraisers" where they raise over $100,000 a year for non-profit organizations across Central PA. So while they do not use local ingredients, they are finding ways to give back to their local communities and should be applauded for that.

Tried this place for the first time today. Had the pterodactyl, which is their Italian sub. It was delicious. Personally, I think this is the best sandwich place in the HBG area. Girlfriend'a Reuben was delicious as well.

Good quality, fresh and fun sandwhich options. I love that they provide the utz potato medley as a chip option. Typically I order take - out, but have eaten in before. They can get backed up at peak time making for a longer wait than I think necessary (staff extras during lunch!) My absolute favorite dessert ever comes from here - its a chocolate pudding cake - yum! It's creamy and cakey and not dry at all. It's a great one to share as it is too rich for just one person. I have 2 gripes about Isaac's though - the rainbow bread the kids get is almost always stale and they use tiny plastic disposable cups for all the condiments they serve. For eat-in I wish they use reusable cups. But that is a personal pet peeve and does not affect my rating! Edited to add: I forgot to mention how clean the place is. Even during lunch rush, the work areas in the back were clean and wiped down. The soda machine in the front was free of the typical nasty goop and the dining room area was free of crumbs, menus clean and wall and glass were wiped down and spotless. My kids even commented on how clean the restaurant was!

Isaac's Restaurant & Deli is a Central Pennsylvania staple. Around for years, this is the place for locals to go to for fresh and unique sandwiches, salads, soups and much, much more. When you arrive, you'll discover that all sandwiches are named after types of birds (following the theme of their flamingo mascot, Filbert), so you'll need to spend a minute or two reading the descriptions. I assure you, their menu has something for everyone, and you will find the perfect lunch in no time. Even my vegetarian friends have been very pleased by their extensive listing of veggie items. The food is fresh and made to order, so if you wish to make a substitution, it will be more than welcome by the friendly staff. Service is usually quick, even during a busy weekday lunch hour. There are also many locations throughout the Harrisburg area, so finding a location nearby is easy. I only have two gripes. First...the cost can, at times, be a little high compared to other lunch options. That being said, I believe It is well worth it for the quality of the food. My second gripe? I desperately miss their old peanut butter pie, which was sacrificed for a newer butterfinger version a couple years back.

This is my absolutely favorite restaurant when I come home to Carlisle. My girlfriends and I have visited this particular location of Isaac's over the last 5 years more than dozen times. Although they have changed their menu quite a few times over that period, the food remains the same. It's that type of place that you go to just for a decent sandwich. They have a large selection to choose from. My staple has always been their Bird of Paradise on their Pretzel dough bread. It's heavenly. I often crave it and wish they had a location down in Virginia. But alas, they do not. Also note worthy: their tortellini pasta salad and broccoli salad. Both are great sides or starters for your meal. And are great for carry-out for picnics.

Good chicken pot pie bread bowl. I found the waitress to be more interested in socializing with coworkers but had so-so service. I do enjoy the variety of their menu and mostly healthy food.
