Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Well, this place definitely reminds me of the Tex-Mex joints all over town back home. The place had decent size for big parties. I was told they have another location as well. I went for the recommended Chili Verde Burrito with beef, and it came out at the speed of fast food like. I believe it was just microwaved, and then they added veggies and cream on the side. Flavor was ok, and meat was quite dried on the inside. It was just a poorly prepared dish. I suppose El Rodeo was good for quick sit down lunch if you are in a hurry to get back to work. I guess it was definitely better fast food, but you paid twice as much.

I have been reluctant to try the food here since I moved from Cali two years ago. The Mexican food in Cali is awesome. What can I say? The Nachos Delux here are good but thats all I can say at this time. I should also note that the portion size of the Nachos Delux should keep me full for the rest of the night. LOL. Though I don't recommend going to sleep on a full stomach. He he he. More reviews on the way if I come back.

Good food. Bad service. I would have appreciated if someone would have refilled my glass of soda. Also my chips were stale. They should really fix that problem. Also the chairs were too hard. The food was okay. I like Mexican food so yeah.

Okay not the first time I have been here although it's been probably 2 yrs. the decor is ver colorful but the booths are a little tight for a person my size. Waitress was good didn't come back a whole lot. Menu while still large is shorter than I remember with less combos on it which makes it somewhat easier! Portions were good for the price. Now for the food critique! Most of the things I had on my plate were all soft corn flour tortillas with wrapped ground beef with sauce and a couple of different sauces. It was actually called their grande dinner but really couldn't tell the difference between one thing another except for the sauces! The Refried beans were received beans and the rice wasn't the best I ever had,y wife had the Chicken enchiladas they were nothing special either and if it wasn't for the chicken you would actually think we were having almost the same meal! Our appetizer was chili con queso two more flour tostada do covered with cheese sauce. While not over all terrible and really not that bad as far as flavor not the best we've had or even mediocre. We had better probably will have better by are disappointed because it wasn't as good as it once was. On the plus side the wife liked he Margurita.

Ordered Carnitas Mexicana. But, substituted pork with chicken. It was very good. The food did come out very fast, so I kept thinking how much of it was cooked after I placed the order. Went during lunch hour with colleagues. The speed of food serving made sure we reached back in time :) They serve chips and salsa on the house. Chips were warm and salsa was ok. Wish salsa was spicier.

Our last trip there resulted in greatly reduced portions for the same prices. My son's rice and beans cost $4 and consisted of about four bites of each. Even the carnitas was smaller.

I think 3 Stars is perfect for my first visit. Had the chicken enchilada plater with rice. 3 enchiladas and rice for $7.79, good God is that a deal. Did not feel like I ate a nerf football when I was done, very happy with the meal. Will be back for sure.. Adios amigos

This place was exactly what I wanted: inexpensive, tasty mexican food. We've been 3 times since moving to the area and have been pleased each time. The service is prompt and friendly.

Christmas Eve timing as written was until 8 pm but it is not true, the kitchen seems to close much earlier than 8 pm. Not good for last minute restaurant choice...

If you just want tacos, you should be ashamed of yourself. Nothing we have tried was disappointing.

This is not authentic mexican food at all. Its bland americanized garbage. I received solidified cheez whiz on a hard tortilla as an appetizer. Drinks are weak and expensive. Maybe this is central PA's version of mexican, but you are fooling yourselves. Try Tres Hermanos in Harrisburg if you want real mexican food.

This place drives me crazy. Ate there the first time and thought it was pretty decent Mexican food, but in the 5 times after, I will never eat here again. The food is ok. Absolutely nothing special, and everything tastes like its from a big chain. I'd suggest against getting any cocktails - got a few margaritas and they are really expensive for what you get. The real pisser is that the last 3 times we got this place, I got it to go. Literally every time, they seriously screwed the order up. The first time they completely left a meal out. I checked the bag, but a wrapped up thing of chips fooled me. I called and they didn't even say sorry. Would not give me my money back on my card, and said I had to come back. So. I left my hot food and the food for 2 friends and got back in the car. I got there, and they tried to give me the meal that they forgot the first time. I told them that was ridiculous and that they need to make a new hot one so at LEAST this one will be good when I get home. Nope. The time after they forgot the cheese app we ordered and the third time I caught them forgetting another entree. Thank God I actually opened every item and questioned everything. They were very embarrassed this time and made a new one of the missed meal. Just inexcusable that they could screw up that many times in a row. There are lots of other options for Mexican around, and many of them are really really good. Search Yelp and you will find em!

Pretty good, consistent Mexican fare with several Central PA locations.

I went here yesterday and ordered Nachos Santa Fe (my usual) and a margarita. The margarita was weak both in flavor and in tequila. The Nachos Santa Fe dish was horrendous. They were disgustingly dry. I had to order a side of cheese dip (another $3.50) to make them passable. I have never had such poor food from an El Rodeo before. The service was also very slow, despite it being around 4:50 pm. I love El Rodeo, but my "home" location is the one in Lemoyne. If you are going for Mexican food, go to the Lemoyne location. In case you're curious, they serve Coke products.

I've been living in the Harrisburg area for 21 years now. There never had been a satisfying place that served Tex-Mex or Mexican food. We went to El Rodeo a few times and never liked it. In March I was stuck in the San Antonio, TX area for almost two weeks. Several times I went to a place called Papa Gallos in Buleverde. I thought this place was great and friendly which it is. Then, on the way back home I stopped at El Torro in Palestine, TX. This was even a couple notches better. Then I made the bad mistake to stop at the City Cafe in downtown Chattanooga. Of all things I had to order fajitas. Given, the portions there are humongous. But after tasting a better choice of Tex-Mex fair I should have stuck with local cousine. Now, I am being told that El Sol is a real good place and all the reviews are just raving over it. And the new Burrito place in Mechanicsburg and West Shore Plaza are pretty good as well. But El Rodeo? Nah!

With 5 of these places in a 20 mile radius you can get your Mexican fix pretty much anytime. This location is in the Hampton center. Able to reach it from the Carlisle pike, or from behind at the Flagship cinemas. They have their Liqueur license so daiquiris are one of their specialties. I'm a fan of the Mango with sugar. Their food is always consistent. I order the Fajitas Texanas and each time the meat has a good flavor, the hotplate comes out sizzling and the wraps are fresh and warm. I've yet to have a bad meal here so I too will go 1 star higher.

The food is really priced well and always tastes great. We have dined here about a dozen times, and have not had any bad food or issues. The fajitas are excellent and a decent helping. There are some taco specials that are excellent also.

I'll go one star higher, El Rodeo is generally good, although I have experienced the bland factor. I was at this location for the first time yesterday and had a really good experience, Chips and salsa were tasty, as usual, and slightly warm. Bringing the salsa in a bottle to pour into the bowl was a nice touch. I ordered the Burrito Verde which had a nice seasoning ( while I am not a Heat crazed junkie, I am from California and often find PA Mexican food to be on the bland side.) Also the Burrito had a good deal of Meat, as opposed to the practice of heavy on the rice and beans. It was good enough that I seriously considered ordering it again to take home for dinner. Also ordered the Chocolate Lava Cake, which was OK but not great. ( Even the server thought that the Lava cake at Chili's was better than her offering ) Props for honesty. Generally I'm going to Colonial Park location which is good, but based on this meal, I'll have to make it back over to Mechanicsburg .
