Was in the area visiting with family and I was in the mood for some good barbeque. Heard about Dickey's so I gave it a try. DEFINITELY was pleased with the quantity and quality of food !! Tried a sampler plate with different meats and they all were great. Tried a variety of sides and I they were great too. The 'beans' had a nice kick that kept me going back for more. If you're in the area, definitely give the place a try.

I recently had lunch here and took advantage of the daily $8.99 special: pulled pork, 2 sides and a drink. The place is small and a bit cramped for space, but the staff is very friendly and helpful. I like the choice of BBQ sauces - original sauce was my favorite. The cole slaw was all right and the green beans with bacon was tasty. The sweet tea is very sweet, but probably as good as one can get north of the Mason-Dixon line. I can't wait to go back to try their beef brisket sandwich. Check it out!

Food was better than I expected. A little pricey for the portion you get, but the ribs were pretty tasty. The chicken was actually really good. Brisket was so so. None of the sides were memorable. Place was cramped and employees seemed a bit overwhelmed but they were all extremely nice and apologetic for the long wait. Free self serve ice cream was a nice added touch.

The food was very good and I was very pleased by the quality. However, the layout and seating of the restaurant was a bit challenging. As we were waiting in line to finish our order, a large family came into the restaurant and claimed four tables before they ordered. By the time we had our food there wasn't a table to sit at due to the few tables. This wasn't the restaurant's fault, but the limited seating made it more challenging. Maybe a few tables outside? I would go back for takeout and potentially to sit-down; just not during peak meal times. As you can tell... the food is good enough to have people lined out the door.

Dickey's Barbecue Pit is a great addition to Mechanicsburg. The chopped beef brisket melts in your mouth. The ribs are fall off the bone. The sauces are awesome, I like the sweet sauce the best. The sweet tea is definitely southern brewed.

Awesome food, friendly staff , and FREE ICE CREAM! Go for the westerner it's the best but they always have daily deals so you can try almost anything for cheap.

Awesome ribs & the fried okra is out of this world!! Love their daily lunch deals, it's a good way to sample the menu and taste a bit of everything ! Friendly staff and free drink refills! Love this place !

I hate to give the place a bad rep, but everyone there seemed so inexperienced, and that was hands down the worst pulled pork sandwich I've ever had. The Mac and cheese was ok but nothing special, and the potato salad was more like mashed potato salad. I was very disappointed especially since there are so many better BBQ places in the area. I won't be back.

I will say that I was skeptical going into this place because it is a chain that originated in Dallas. Dallas is far removed geographically and mentally from the BBQ homeland of Texas which is in the Hill Country. As far as Central PA BBQ goes, Dickeys is in the upper echelon simply by virtue of having more options than pulled pork. Make no mistake, that is not an endorsement. They do offer a full traditional BBQ menu with ribs, brisket, sausages, turkey and chicken. There is a sign on the counter claiming that they smoke all meats on site over hickory but I'm not sure I believe the claim. There are no visible wood piles or noticeable smoke aroma in or around the store. I ordered a 3 meat sampler with brisket, ribs and jalapeño cheddar sausage. I asked for the brisket moist and the server/ meat cutter seemed confused. Yet another bullet in the authentic TX BBQ joint image. The meats did not have a noticeable smoky flavor. On the positive side, the ribs although bland were moist and tender. The other meats were dry. The sausage was pretty spicy but was not very temperature hot or even warm. Portions were generous and I took about half the brisket and most of the sausage home. My dog isn't as picky as I am about BBQ. My advice is that if you find yourself in central PA and in serious need of some BBQ, make the drive to York and go to Mission BBQ rather than Dickeys.

The portions were good. That's about all I can say good. The sauces were too vinegary and just not good. The pulled pork and brisket was dry and not very flavorful. Will not be going back.

Ever since Doe & Jerry's closed shop, we've been vainly searching for a replacement BBQ joint. Dickey's may not match our memories of D&J, but it's as close as we've come since. That might sound like faint praise, but if you were lucky enough to have eaten at Doe & Jerry's, you'd know how sincerely complimentary that comparison is. It's a small end unit in a strip mall, so seating can be an issue. Ordering is done Chipotle-style, moving past the stations as you fill in your main dish and the sides. The wait can be considerable. It's all worth it in the end. We've had the brisket (chopped), the ribs, the pulled pork, and the sausage for our main courses, with beans, fries, and onion straws as sides. The sausage was good, the ribs were tasty, and the pork was decent, if a tad dry, but the brisket was superlative. The gentleman manning the carving stand carefully dressed a fresh brisket, slicing out the less savory fat in the middle, then painstakingly re-layering the cut with the smoky bits around the outside before preparing juicy cuts for the watching customers. He was friendly and took the time to explain the method to his apparent madness. Everyone rapturously devoured the brisket, but the fries were a hit with the kids too.

My first visit here and from the moment I walked in the door till I walked out, it was a great experience! The staff was very friendly and helpful! I ordered the full rack of ribs. They cut the ribs added extra sauce and when I sat down to eat them, they were fall off the bone ribs. Good flavor. The staff was taking care of customers consistently and cleaning as they were leaving and staying on top of keeping things stocked as well. I was even asked how I enjoyed the meal. The only minor issue I saw was in the men's bathroom the ceiling had some dust on it and the one wall was a little dirty, but overall the toilet and sink were clean, the paper towels and soap were stocked as well. I will definitely be back again!

We tried Dickeys last night, and enjoyed it very much. I had the brisket and the chicken, my husband had the pulled pork, I'd definitely recommend the brisket; however, the chicken was a little dry. The pulled pork was very good, as were the sauces you could chose from. As for sides, I had the potatoes and the beans. The beans were very good, the potatoes weren't anything to write home about. I definitely liked the size of the sodas for the money, and the fact they offer free self serve ice cream as a sweet treat after dinner was a nice surprise. We'll be back...my hubby wants to try the sausage!

Not bad for central PA. Not gonna make you forget about your favorite place below the Mason Dixon line though. BBQ ham was nice; Polish sausage was legit, with good snap and spice; beef brisket was alright. Not as much smokiness as I like, and a little under seasoned. I like when the brisket gets hit with another sprinkle of whatever rub they used. They use hickory to smoke, so I was just hoping it'd be more forward. The waffle fries were what you'd expect, but I didn't care for the potato salad. Tasted like it might have been Greek yogurt based? Not like the "Amish" style I'm used to around here. The BBQ sauce was good. Not overly sweet, which I liked. It also inexplicably came with a few pickle and white onion slices as if I was going to make a sandwich, plus a roll similar to what Texas Road House serves. The restaurant was small but lively, slightly more fast paced than you'd expect for slow cooking southern fair. But they were busy! Menu was a bit overwhelming for a first time visit. They're obviously big on larger orders and catering. While I did take-out, I noticed by the soda machine was a help-yourself soft serve ice cream machine. Whaaaaaatt? Gonna have to check that out next time. All and all, worth a visit. Not gonna put central PA on the map by any means, but hey, it's all we got so I'll be back.

Had the XL Family meal, The Brisket, the Turkey and the PULLED PORK... were all AMAZING! The sides were all good too. Fed a family of six (four teenage boys), and we had some leftover, although not much. That was my first time there, but will certainly not be my last. The owner and his staff were also very friendly. .. They earned each of my five stars.

3.5. We enjoyed the pulled pork. Having lived in Georgia where pulled pork is an institution, I would give Dickie's good marks. Thought the price was a little high for what we received and their ordering process is a bit slow resulting in a line to the door the whole while we ate. They could also spend a little of that money on a needed refresh of the decor. But in the end, the pork was good.

Great tasting BBQ! Had the Beef Brisket & Chicken breast both tasted great! Free Ice cream too!

Got hungry for bbq so I did a search. This place is the only one I found in the area. Which is ok cause it's really good. I got the beef brisket and pulled pork as did my wife. My kids got beef and ham plates. Kids eat free on Sunday with purchase of an adult meal. Everything is excellent. And free ice cream and soda refills. I just became a regular

Ate here for the first time today. Not bad at all and reasonably priced. Definitely not the best BBQ I've ever had even this far North, but pretty solid. Sides were good. I had the 2 meat plate with pulled pork and brisket along with fries and coleslaw. Got all 3 sauces to go with it. Spicy was by far the best; not too much heat but just right. Meats were tender and cooked right but IMO not enough smoke or seasoning. Service was pretty quick during busy lunch crowd. Will definitely be going back.

Not a bad deal. The daily specials are a plus, the fries are good but I wasn't too impressed with the beans. Souvenir cups are a nice touch as well.

Wow. Got to say this was some good BBQ. Had the pulled pork picnic meal. The texture and tast was really good. For a corperate company This is a real southern roadside BBQ experience. Its a small store with few seats. But the food... man. Really good BBQ. This place is child friendly. Sunday is free kids meals. They cater and the prices are good. The amount of food is a lot. The staff was super friendly and assisted when we asked. Definitely stop in, if your in the area. Impressed!

Ordered food by phone had me on speaker phone extremely inconsiderate we screamed at each other to place my order in. The food was awful and a small portion there was no meat to fall off the bone both ribs and chicken were quite dry. Finally, I became sick after eating this food nauseous with diarrhea and vomiting first and last time my family will eat from there still sick today running to the bathroom.
