Always a good time. I love the chimichangas and margaritas, sure its not the most "authentic" but this is Meadville for Pete's sake everything that wants to survive in this town is Americanized a bit. I've never been disappointed and their take out is even better than the dine on.

Is this the best Mexican I've ever had? No. Was it okay? Yes. They didn't get lazy on the remodel, since this used to be a Ponderosa. It's all themed out and ready to serve up some chips and salsa. Speaking of which, the chips were awesome and freshly baked (or freshly heated up at least). The salsa on the other hand was very bland. Like, just throw some tomato's in a bowl and go bland. I was pretty bummed. But the guacamole was really great. It was the whipped kind, rather than chunky, but it actually had flavor. My chicken chimichanga was okay. Actually, it was served what I think was authentic, in a tightly rolled and toasted tortilla. The cheese sauce was good on top, but again, not incredible. Same with the rice, just okay. Totally fine place to go locally to get your Mexican fix. Just wish the salsa was better and it might go up a star!

Compadres is pretty good. It improved when they moved to their new location, but I had a bad experience when it was on Chestnut Street. I have enjoyed it ever since. I typically order the seafood quesadilla but their chips and salsa are pretty addicting too. Their margaritas are decent and large! Many times they offer 2 for 1 deals with margaritas, and it's really the only place I would order one from in Meadville. Their new location is huge so it's great for groups, birthday parties, and other kinds of celebrations. It's very easy to be social there and the staff is very helpful.

There are mixed reviews on this place but I LOVE mexican so I thought I woud give it a try. We eat mexican two or three times a week and either make it at home or go out ......heres my assessment......if you are all about QUANTITY and want lots of food and you value portikn size over quality them this is your place!!! If you value food QUALITY over portion size then you will be gravely dissapointed The chips and salsa -- chips taste like grease and salsa is clearly canned. Jalepeno poppers were so bad I had to send them back They were a processed cheese of some unrecognizable type ...just awful Main meal was 'good' by local standards and average by mine That being said, I sat at the bar and Lucha was fantastic Super friendly, happy employee who was focused on customer service Great bar area and super bartenders Good margaritas but definitely from a mix vs fresh squeezed lime The menu is very confusing to order from and could greatly benefit from an English as a primary language reviewer both for typos and readibility standpoint Overall for a small town, not bad, but definte room for improvement!!!

I love Compadres!! Margaritas are the best around and chips & salsa is always a hit. I love the taco salad-great coupons and specials if you are on a budget. Some of the staff looks a bit sketchy but they are always friendly and the service is great!!!

I ordered the grilled chicken nachos which rank as some of the best I've eaten. The portion was a bit small, but I filled my stomach up with the Dos Equis beer they have on tap. Excellent!

My wife is from Meadville so we make it back to the area a couple of times a year--Compadres is a smash hit with the locals and we almost always make a point to come out here when we visit. They have tasty food, good-sized portions, and good service. Definitely a better option than the other chain restaurants if you're traveling through on I-79. The new location is just West of the interstate, and has more seating and is more bright. One specific recommendation: The guacamole is made fresh at your table and mine was among the top tier I've ever had (and I am a big guacamole fan). Understand that the food is mostly Americanized Mexican (more Tex Mex than straight Mexican food), but it is done very well. If you need proof of the quality, just look at the crowded parking lot any night of the week.

Friendly service and hot food. They recently moved and are just West of I-79. Our Server Jill was great describing the desserts. Several staff members stopped by and checked on us.

Well I previously reviewed these guys almost a year ago and so I figured those meals were chicken. So I tried beef dish this time. Come on People! if it is in an Ortega taco shell with Ortega taco seasoning it ISN'T Authentic. I spent 10 years living in Phoenix Az and so far All of the "Authentic" mexican places I have been to here anywhere have been the biggest disappointment. Like usual You have to give it one star or they don't let you review. but definitely worthy of 0 (zero) stars. I think they should go back to drug running they probably did that better but then again that is probably why they moved to a bigger restaurant, more storage for the drugs. Worst pretend mexican food you can get if you live north go to taco bell it is closer and tastes the same.

We pass through this area a few times a year en route from Cassadega NY to Pittsburgh - this always ends up being about where we want to stop to eat. We asked some friends who have a place at Conneaut for a suggestion and they said to try this place. I ordered a seafood quesadilla dinner which consisted of 2 mediumish quesadillas with shrimp, scallops, fake crab, and cheese, as well as rice and beans. The cheese in the quesadilla seemed to be partly velveeta which I don't think is authentic by any stretch of the imagination but I'm not above eating velveeta so I can't complain with any real credibility. I'd have preferred all real cheese but heck it was also fake crab so... The rice and beans were standard and just fine. (They gave my daughter enough for a small village with her kid's quesadilla) My husband had enchiladas and his meal came with a TON of food. Kids had tacos, quesadilla, and mini corn dogs and there were no complaints. Between us all there was more than enough food to share with the toddler. Chips and salsa plentiful and tasty. I've lived in California and I've been to New Mexico so I know there is better out there but for random middle of the sticks PA I'd declare this pretty darn tasty. Easy for kids (everything on kid's menu is $5) We'll probably be back.

Rude Service. Ordered pickup and they refused to honor coupon. Prices were different than they had posted on the website. The guy just said, each location has different prices, there is nothing we can do. Food was missing from the order. Flavor of food was not that great, I found it rather bland for Mexican.

I ate dinner here once while passing through Meadville for a conference. The food is plentiful, tasty, fresh, and surprisingly authentic. My dinner consisted of six seafood enchiladas with green pico de gallo, with a side order of rice and salad. The filling was rich and flavorful; the enchiladas were made with corn tortillas and lots of queso fresco, and the pico de gallo was really good -- hot, with lots of onions and vinegar. Our waiter, who had a number of what looked like prison tattoos, addressed us several times in Spanish, which charmed my dining companions. Lots of Corona posters and colorful margarita drinks. Dinner for three was less than forty dollars, with tip, for a massive amount of food (no alcohol).

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
