Was going here at least once a week for a few months, recently changed locations but if you go, enjoy the delicious thanksgiving sandwich box lunch with a side of chips and an applespice upcake!

If yoiu have not been to Dixie Picnic then you just need to go! Everyone needs a little picnic in their lives and well we happliy stumbled onto this one afternoon ` Tracy is awesome and she also had a site in OC until the landlord did funny stuff and well not after two seasons we await to hear what will happen but until then we have this location to get our grub on ! They serve breakfast until 11:00 and you must try the sausage and gravy with her homemede biscuits ~ oh yeah baby! They have sandwiches and great chicken salad all kinds of great homemade food that are her families recipes. Homemade lemonade ( they squeeeze the lemons ) BUT you have to get the UPCAKE it is her Aunt Bertha's cupcake iced upside-down they are to die for !

Never been to this location.. I went to the one in Ocean City when they were there... Their service was worth stopping alone.. The food was consistantly good... Hopefully this type of service to customers rubs off on all restaurant owners.

I loce Dixie Picnic. I grew up in Virginia, went to college in Tennessee. Their Virginia Ham is delicious, nice and salty. Their burgers and sweet potatoe fries are so good, and I love their macaroni and cheese. It's one of my favorite places for breakfast, and their boxed lunches remind me of the boxed lunches growning up, even better! My birthday is coming up, and this is the place I have picked to go with my family to celebrate. I can't wait to tast the shrimp and grits!

Wonderful for lunch, I have the Fried Shrimp Po' Boy with their amazing potato salad. I have also tried the Georgia barbeque sandwich with coleslaw it was excellent. I haven't tried breakfast yet but I am told it is also very good and I have no reason to believe otherwise. What can I say about the upcakes, you just have to try them to believe them.

The upcakes will never let you down...waiting for them to offer real Southern Fried Chicken on the menu!

The biscuits and gravy are as good as any that I've ever eaten

Pork bbq sandwich was little too saucy for my liking...the roll was the best part...I just prefer "drier" pork and sauce on the side. Potato salad was delicious. I didn't get an "upcake" they looked good in the case though.

Great quiet find in Malvern. Simple lunch time choices. I love that you can choose a meal and it comes with a dessert, which is a choice of one of their specialty upcakes (upside down cupcakes)!!!

  • Lori M.

I had someone bring me back an upcake from here and it was yummy!

This place is too freakin cute. I hope it becomes insanely popular, not because I feel like waiting in long lines, but because the owner of this down-home eatery seems genuinely sweet. Everyone, in fact, was super friendly here. But on to the food - it is SPECTACULAR. I want to dive into a pool of their potato salad. I wish I could eat their deviled eggs and upcakes every single day!! But I can't. So I appreciate the southern-style home-made food every once in awhile as a savory treat. It's kinda pricey, but worth it for the quality and those fresh baked rolls and bread. Go for the boxed lunch your first visit - you won't be sorry!!

I've been to Dixie Picnic several times for breakfast and lunch. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious, I absolutely love the homemade jam (comes with the toast) and the creative lunches. The upcakes are a must, much better than any cupcakes I've ever had. I've tried some of the other desserts as well and they are out of this world (I recommend the sticky buns). I also liked the atmosphere of the restaurant, they just renovated the place and it looks great, it's very cute and homey (love the blue shutters!) I've been to other restaurants in the area and Dixie Picnic is my favorite by far. Overall, the food is excellent, the service is great, and the place is comfortable. It's definitely worth checking it out.

My mother and I had breakfast at Dixie Picnic yesterday. The owner, who was also taking order and running the counter, was extremely pleasant and helpful. It's a family owned and run business and I like that. The place was cute and clean ( which a big deal to me, who wants to see food on the floor while you eat?) Our food arrived quickly and was hot! I love biscuits and these were perfect with that yummy salty buttery top that I love. The sausage gravy was full of meat and very good. We also had bacon, which was cooked to perfection and home fries. The potatoes had just a bit of some spice that I just can't place. I could have done without the mystery spice ( maybe nutmeg) but they were still delicious. Mom had coffee, which she loved and she is a very picky coffee drinker. I had iced tea and it was very good. We were sorry that we didn't get an upcake for the trip to Lambertville, NJ, but I'm sure we will be going back! :o) Good job, Dixie Picnic....can't wait to try your boxed lunch!

This place has the best breakfast and it's super cheap! Definitely get the homefries...they're delicious with onions and they're not dried-out like many other places...no need for ketchup. The sticky buns are hands down the most amazing I've ever had. So gooey and sweet...get 'em grilled. The upcakes are surprisingly delicious. I've had chocolate with vanilla cake and coconut with chocolate cake...both fluffy, moist, and flavorful. I can't wait to stop in for dinner or lunch soon.

Dixie Picnic is fantastic! We had lunch here (salad, green tea, chicken wrap) and brought sticky buns home. Our lunch was fresh and delicious, and the sticky buns were the best ever! The atmosphere is adorable, and the people who work there are very friendly and helpful.

Excellent food. Fresh and consistent. The taste and freshness of the food is worth the price. The place is small, so I recommend that you get their a little early if you want a seat for lunch.

Awesome place. Unfortunately, I never went there the first six months they were open because for some reason I thought they were a catering company (due to the name.) But once I went, I've been back many times. Great service, fantastic food. The prices a bit on the high side, but I don't mind paying for quality and that's what they deliver. You can also get things there you will not see anywhere else, like muffalettas, upcakes, homemade bread for the sandwiches. Just added breakfast - also fantastic!!

Dixie picnic is one of my most favorite restaurant ever. I would hope it that is saying a lot because I've been around the world. I first found out about Dixie picnic when they had a stand in the King of Prussia Mall. They have these marvelous little things called up cakes. I can't get enough. They really taste like your grandmother made them. You can taste each and every ingredient. That in my opinion is why this is one of the best little restaurants. All of their food is really made with care and dedication. I've never had a bad meal here, I've never had bad service here, this is why it gets 5 stars from me. I seldom get to come here because it's so far from my place. If you chance upon this area I assure you if you visit here for a meal you will not be disappointed. I'm drooling just thinking about it. I mean anybody can make a sandwich right? But the sandwiches here somehow are better then you think they could ever be.

I think what I love the most about this place is the concept. Great idea to offer fresh, from scratch foods at a great value. I had the Nutty Chicken Salad box (chicken salad with grapes and pecans), one deviled egg, potato salad, and my choice of an "Upcake" (I choose a carrot upcake). All of this comes in one box or serving platter. I had trouble finishing it all so it is definitely a good value! Now the food itself left a bit to be desired which really disappointed me. The chicken salad could have used a bit more of the pecans and grapes which is what sold me on the sandwich in the first place. It probably could have used the addition of onion as well, it was just a bit blah. I also felt similarly about the potato salad, needed salt or something. However the Upcake was so delicious and best part of my meal! The decor inside was a bit run down but it didn't mean much to me as I had my meal to go. All in all 3 stars, I would go back to try something different.

La orange French toast, sticky bun French toast with cinnamon butter and it's all made in house with loving care. This place is housed in a very small, unobvious almost hidden away in the strip mall storefront. Looking for it is well worth the effort. They also serve tea in a tea pot to the table. This is always a huge plus to me.

  • John L.

Service was very friendly and extremely fast. Maybe too fast, because the turkey panini wasn't really hot. The outside was grilled but the insides were cool. Nice place, though. I'll definitely go back.

  • Melanie R.

I've been here a couple of times for the lunch box and very much liked the food here. It is much better than fast food and the prices are very reasonable. I've also tried the my oh my omelette and I must say that it was delicious. Someone here said that the food was not fresh. Mine was. Service was also good. One thing I'd do if I were them is to decor up the place a bit. True, it's a picnic type restaurant but it's certainly not a fast food joint. I don't want to feel like I'm not in a nice place. So a bit more color and I think you'd have more happy customers.

Good things can happen even in the middle of a snowstorm, and I survived to write about it. The drive from Carlisle to Bucks was getting worse by the mile as snow and then sleet fell and made road conditions difficult. With the speed limit reduced to 45 MPH, and my head beginning to pound, it was time for a break. I was thinking comfort food, but when I drove into Malvern and my first choice (Pho) was closed on this Sunday, I found Dixie Picnic just around the corner, and seeing good Yelp reviews, I went in. It might not be my normal comfy meal, but it certainly was someone's, and I was about to find out who's. The space was bright and cheerful even on a dank dark afternoon. I arrived around 1:30, and they were closing at 2. No sweat. The owner welcomed me and told me to sit and relax. He handed me the menu after explaining the general lay of the land with breakfasts, sandwiches, BBQ, and Box Lunches. Everything done in house and from scratch. Home brewed Iced Tea, too. I went with the Georgia BBQ Pork Sandwich on a fresh roll. It came with a choice of a side dish - Pasta Pesto, thank you. While I waited, I listened to the oral history of this Southern family and the old photos on the walls took meaning and personality. Lunch arrived. A huge heaping load of heavily sauced shredded pork that required a fork to consume because to pick up the sandwich was to risk a major lap spill. It was that BIG. The first bite had me sucking in my breath as the deeply sweet and tangy mix attacked my tongue and olfactory center. WOW! This was going to required time and patience as I adjusted to its wonderful flavor. It had just the right amount of vinegar to provide a sharp retort to the molasses-like thick sweetness. It was soft and tender and an easy chew. I found myself enjoying it immensely. Meanwhile, the staff was beginning to close up, but I was assured that I could remain. Good thing, because the other hot items were the Upcakes sitting seductively in the front display. These were upside down cupcakes covered on all sides in thick creamy icing. The variety of flavors had their own menu and were seasonal. Here, while the cake base was homemade and excellent, the real story was unabashedly the multicolored toppings. I decided on the Blood Orange Icing on Devil's Food Cake. The icing was about a quarter inch think all around, save for the bottom (Actually, the top of this bottom's up creation). It was a soft cream, rather than a hard shell, and gave itself up freely. While sweet, it was not overly so, and settled nicely on the tongue for a lasting taste sensation. The chocolate cake was super moist and almost gooey. I loved it. Whoever thought this one up deserves a place in the Cupcake Hall of Fame. Thanks to everyone associated with Dixie Picnic over the generations for your love of cooking and taking care of people. You all certainly took great care of me, and introduced me to new possibilities in comfort food. Gratitude and respect.

This was not the best lunch I've ever had. For one, they forgot my order. We had a group of ten or so order lunches from the office and then we sent one from the group to go get them, pay, and bring the lunches back. Unfortunately, they forgot mine. They did at least deliver it to our office for free, but by the time my Beer Battered Po'Boy arrived, it was soggy, mushy, and gross. Did I eat it? Yes... I was hungry. Did I enjoy it. Not even. The Upcake that I ordered was dry, crumpling, and sad. Will pass on this the next time the group wants to order from here.

I would really love a place like this near where I live. This is a lovely breakfast/lunch place in the middle of a strip mall. I ordered the box lunch with a shrimp salad sandwich and a fruit cup. May goodness the sandwich was delicious! Lots of meaty shrimp and nice crispy bread. The fruit cup was also good. It was a nice combination of lots of nice fruits. It was also pretty large too. The deviled egg was awesome! I don't think I've ever had a deviled egg that was as good as this one. It was perfectly seasoned and was just so good. The last part was the upcake. I got the carrot cake upcake and it was very good! Nice and dense cake with a creamy frosting. My only complaint is that I'd like to see the cake have some sort of filing inside of it, like some frosting in the middle since the cake is just to big and dense. Again, I really wish we had a place like this in my areas. We just don't have many good inexpensive breakfast/lunch places.

Good food, the service was great, very nice folks. Ordered the New England clam chowder it had lots of potato chunks I also ordered "upcake" with iced coffee. The upcake was good, I would like to try other favors. I got the vanilla bean with chocolate cake, it was pretty simple. Overall cute place will be back next time I need to got to the PennDOT.

Not sure ordering ahead saves anytime because they want you to stand in the same line for pick up. Today I asked the woman where I should pick up my take out and she pointed to a counter but when I returned to where she previously directed me, the man making sandwiches very rudely directed me to the ordering counter. Not sure I will be back.

What a find! Got off the turnpike traveling home from our shore vacation to have breakfast here ... Liked it so much we ordered box lunches for the road ! Excellent bread , sausage and eggs , friendly owners on hand , great variety with homemade touches of bread and strawberry jam.

Great service, great food, affordable pricing, what more can I say. I had the shrimp salad and the sandwich tasted fresh and light. Why was good and so was the potato salad. I'll definitely be back.

I have now eating here twice and although I wouldn't call the sweet tea,TRULY, southern sweet tea, the food, menu, and atmosphere are terrific. Definitely worth the money.

Very nice little place with great chicken salad and cupcakes or should I say upcakes. We were very pleased with our meal.

First time here but it was highly recommended. I had the thanksgiving lunch box and was thoroughly impressed. Everything was very fresh especially the turkey and bread. The portion was also quite generous between the side of pasta salad and the upcake (salted caramel icing on a Devils food cake...wow!).

VERY crowded at lunch time on a week day. Ordering over the phone is as chaotic as the flocks of people going in to eat. The food was very good, and is definitely made with some gourmet panache. Takeout comes in a box. At first sight, I was not impressed. The box looked small, which meant not much food, but I was surprised as how filling it was for the portion size. That said, the portions are still a lot smaller than other places, for the price. For route 30 in Malvern, I guess this is somewhat standard, but as far as the greater area goes, I would not select Dixie Picnic as a winner for value at all. If you want a "picnic" taste, they definitely accomplish that, and satisfy. I can't speak for how "Dixie" it is, since I am not versed in Southern cuisine the way I am on other types of food, but I can say it was tasty + fattening, which seem to be the cornerstones of food from the South. The upcakes are a lot like poundcake in a misshapen cupcake tin. My husband dabbled in the kitchen the day after we had our first upcake, and the poundcake he made tasted much like the yellow upcake we'd had. The day I got my meal the guy taking my order tried to dissuade me from choosing chocolate frosting for some reason. When I tasted the frosting it was bad. It was way way way too sweet, like the new guy dumped the whole bag of powdered sugar in by accident, and it had a horribly saccharin-y aftertaste. I was able to separate the yuckiness of the frosting from the upcake, and identified that, with different frosting, I could enjoy it a lot more easily. From the looks of them, the Sally Lunn rolls promised disappointment, but they were actually very good. My sandwich had an entire section of onion in it, which was bizarre to me... not sure if that's a southern thing or a kitchen oops. I just picked it apart, but it was the most onion anyone ever served me on a sandwich. The Yukon Gold potato salad was also extremely tasty, however, the condiment cup it comes in is quite small. Had they replaced my deviled egg with a pickle I'd have been a lot happier, but I get it that the deviled egg is part of the Picnic, while my pickle would be more NY deli. I am attaching photos to show the size of the boxed lunch with a plastic fork beside it for size reference. All in all a tasty meal. I would return to get the good flavors again, but not for value pricewise.

Excellent! Best BLT ever, fresh bread, thick and firm, great bacon & turkey ratio. Owner is beyond friendly. We didn't have the Upcakes, but you could tell they were delicious. Will deff be back! Had started at The Bacon Press across the parking lot and the service and wait of 45 min for two omelets was ridiculous. We walked out. Glad we found Dixie Picnic!

I've been wanting to try this place out for sometime now, finally had the time today. Clean, great friendly service and awesome food make me wish I'd made time sooner. Tried Bette's box lunch, choice of sand which, deviled egg, choice of side and one of their famous "up cakes", all for $8.99. Guess there's a reason there isn't a Subway within 10 miles of this place, they wouldn't stand a chance against the quality and value of food here. I got the Thanksgiving sand which which was awesome.

  • Matthew G.

A lunch place that proves you don't have to completely sacrifice convenience and quickness for a relatively high-quality lunch at a moderate price. Mystifies me why people will go over to the McDonald's across Route 30 for around the same price for lunch. Great place to take people given the wide range of salads, sandwiches, and high-quality sides. Even enough options to satisfy one of my vegan coworkers who generally is a quite the production (and general p@in in a$$) to take out for lunch. Also have those great Upcakes too for desert in at least a dozen flavors daily! Never had anything that I haven't liked here but my favorites are either the Thanksigiving Sandwich or the Nutty Chicken Salad Sandwich. Only down sides are that it can get really crowded Wed-Friday at lunch between Noon-1, seating is somewhat limited (hard to seat more than a party of 4), and it can be really hard to hear your name when they call your name to pickup your meal at the counter.

  • Acelyn B.

The box lunch is a great idea! Sandwich, side, deviled egg, and dessert for $8.99. Bang for your buck. Turkey on rye, sun chips, and chocolate on yellow cake for me. Generous portion of turkey on my sandwich. Fresh and good turkey. The "upcake" was actually a little drier than I expected, but the chocolate frosting was verryyy good. I wish I had paid more attention to the list of upcakes because there was a mocha one! Darn it! I actually originally wanted strawberry, but they ran out. Boo. I guess they're that popular.

  • Tim T.

Wow. What a gem of a place. It's like a 3 course meal for under 10 bucks if you get the lunch box. I really liked their thanksgiving sandwich. Cupcakes are just a tad bit on the sweet/sugary side, so parents beware of how much your kid eats or they'll be bouncing off the wall. However, being that the cupcake was part of the lunch box, I can't complain much. Also, for people complaining about the decor, if you want a expensive fine dining atmosphere, go spend $150 at Morton's steakhouse. What would you expect from a place with the name picnic in it?

My Co-Worker and I have established a routine of dinning out at least once a week. We fluctuate on who pays/where we dine however been stuck in pizza rut for the past few weeks. We decided to step out of our box and head further down Lancaster Ave to Lincoln Shopping Center. First up Dixie Picnic! We came in before the lunch rush (around 11:30 - Thank God - This place gets packed!). I had the Turkey Harvest Panini with a side of potato salad. Perfect portion for the price! All the ingredients: Roast Turkey, Sliced Applies, Cheddar and Marble Rye was so fresh and that maple mayo (I am not a huge mayo fan) I could eat on the side (well not really but it was that good!!). What I didn't try was this "upcake" everyone is raving out about and BREAKFAST!! For these two reasons and this lunch experience you definitely got this chick coming back!!

  • Courtney A.

I have to say after my first visit to this place, the reviews don't do it justice. The food was homemade and delicious. It was just like food you'd find at a picnic - hence the name. I ordered the Virginia Ham Sandwich lunch box special. It came with a side of potato salad, a deviled egg and an "upcake". Holy crap, was that upcake to die for. They have tons of different flavors to choose from that all sounded so good - I ordered the mocha and was not disappointed!!! Def recommend checking this place out for lunch. Just make sure to get there earlier rather than later because once they run out of upcakes, they're out for the day!

Dixie Picnic is just wonderful across the board. I usually go for their boxes lunches because I am NOT going to go without their potato salad, devilled egg and yes their irresistible upcakes-yes..I've actually found a place that pays as much attention to their side dishes as they do to their main course. Every sandwich that I've tried has been yummy too. I've heard their soups are amazing and I have had their muffaleta sandwiches (ample for even the smallest portion) and barbecue sandwich-but as they only come with one side and when I come here, I TREAT myself with ALL the trimmings. It is a small, cozy place with hospitable friendly people. Be sure to look for the sun on the front of their store front..they are a small business and don't try to look like a chain restaurant. You will be glad you came by!

As a west chester transplant (both work and living) I'm always trying to find new spots close to my office for lunch. I typically don't have a lot of time, so the speed of service at Dixie was great. I went in, ordered my box lunch and was back to work quickly. First and foremost, the chicken salad is one of the best I've ever had. This is a must get. Applesauce was okay and same with the deviled egg. The egg was a little too salty, but that's just my opinion. I got the key lime upcake. It wasn't terrible but the icing was just a little too sweet for me. Next time I'll definitely try the strawberry or vanilla! All in all, I'll be back. The price (under $10) couldn't be beat for the amount of food I got! Let alone how good everything was. This is definitely a future go-to lunch spot for me!

  • Heidi T.

The lunch box is a good deal, but a few of there stand- alone menu items are good as well. One of my favorites is the pulled pork sandwich. I also like their cookies. Come around Thanksgiving and Christmas and take in the smell of pies and cookies baking!

Horrible experience. Rude staff. Slow service overpriced. No flexibility in ordering charged 1.50 extra for dressing the portions are extremely small, the food was not fresh and I had to throw it out this is the second time I tried their food thinking it was a one time bad order but this was worse I would not recommend eating here

First time at Dixie Picnic for brunch. This cozy place is in a shopping center in Malvern/Frazer off rt 30. Their specialty is the "upside down" cake which is just an upside down cupcake with your choice of icing. Food: 3 Stars. We tried several items of their large menu including the shrimp salad box lunch which included the shrimp salad sandwich, deviled egg, pasta salad, and upside down cake, the Al Fresco eggs benedict over an english muffin and pork loin. And we also had the southern sticky bun french toast. The pork loin tasted a little funny. We had peanut butter icing on the upside down cake and the breading was moist, very tasty. The sticky bun french toast was very sweet and had too much cinnamon butter with it. The iced tea was also very sweet. Service: 3 Stars. The seating is seat yourself. You order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. The employees were very friendly and helpful when ordering. Decor: 3 Stars. There didn't really seem to be a theme to the place, it was pretty generic overall. Some table sets were wicker while others were regular wood. Nothing really stood out.

Average/good food. Nothing too special, but people seem to love them. The upcakes are awesome though. If not for them I probably woudln't really ever come here.

This is a great place for an affordable meal. I will just be taking mine a la carte in the future. Eating in-house I got to much of a feel for the stress of a busy lunch. This weekend I was waiting on my box and had to endure a woman's screaming coming from the kitchen towards the man on the register. He disappeared several times only to reappear agitated and flushed. More shouting ensued. It sounded like someone must have been making mistakes with the food because she was incessant. When I did finally get my box I was happy with everything but the turkey. I know it is cooked in house but several days must have gone by between the cooking and the serving of this bird. In the past my turkey was much juicier and tender. Upcakes are delicious, as was the applesauce. My two star review is based purely on the atmosphere of the Ramsay like kitchen when I was just going out for a relaxing lunch.

My coworkers and I came here for lunch the other day. The lunch box is definitely worth it. For less than ten bucks, it comes with a decent size sandwich, a side and an upcake. I got the roast beef sandwich on Sally Lunn bread (a sweet cake-like bread) and a pistachio upcake. The upcake is a cupcake that has frosting with every bite! Worth going for lunch!

  • Jessica M.

I really liked this place. My co-worker and I both got the box lunch with chicken salad sandwiches. It was a big lunch once you factor in the sides and the upcake. I think we'll split the boxed lunch next time, but order a second upcake of course! I thought the chicken salad was great. The upcake was great as well. I only went this one time, but I'll definitely be back.

Awesome Awesome stuff! Can't go wrong with anything here. They make everything literally even the bread! I usually get the thanksgiving sandwich. The flavors are totally on point. The Smithfield ham is good. A tad salty but it's described as that so I'm ok with it. Their soups are awesome too. The upcakes are All amazing! And those jams they make! Woooooowwww! Get a biscuit with strawberry jam. Literally was like having a fresh picked strawberry on a biscuit. The service and staff are top notch too! Stop in and you won't!be disappointed!

Just finished up the box lunch special - with a Thanksgiving Sandwich, Deviled Egg, Fresh Fruit Salad & a S'mores Upcake. Wow! From start to finish, this lunch blew me away. To start, the bread is incredible - makes such a huge difference (I believe it's all made in-house). And the s'mores upcake - with chocolate on the inside & graham crackers/marshmallows on the outside and up the sides - fantastic! Lots of other things looked great on the menu - but, I'm going to have a hard time straying from this combination!

Dixie Picnic is the perfect lunch spot. Being from Florida, it is nice to have finally found a spot that has a little southern flare. The food was delicious and very fresh. I had the turkey harvest panini which tasted amazing. My fiancé had the turkey thanksgiving sandwich. Those upcakes are adorable and delicious! This place is perfect. We are thinking about using them for our wedding!

I tried them once back in Ocean City and now have had them at their new location on the Main Line. They are really good. My suggestion: get a lunch box. That way, you get the good stuff, their deviled egg and an upcake. Their sides are all really good. The upcakes are delicious. I especially enjoyed the pistachio upcake I had when I was their recently. Bottom line: get a lunch box and you're going to have a great dessert.

This place is great and the people are friendly! If you're in the area and you happen to be hungry this is gonna hit the spot. The boxed lunches are they way to go. I had the thanksgiving sandwich and it was amazing. Can't wait to go back and try the pulled pork!...oh yea and the apple sauce is like the best I've ever had.

After two recent trips here for lunch, I'm sold. Their "Box Lunch" is a great value. For under $10 you get a sandwich, a side, a deviled egg (a surprising, but welcomed addition) and the "upcake". Aside from value, the menu has a nice variety of sandwiches that break the mold from the typical Philly style lunch menu (hoagies, Italian-whatever, cheesesteaks, etc). Service is quick and friendly. This will become a regular lunch time destination for me.

Dixie Picnic is an attractive little restaurant in Frazer. They are probably best known for their 'upcakes' (upside down cupcakes with frosting around the whole thing)-but make no mistake, their food is not playing second fiddle to these delicious desserts! I've been here twice. The interior decor is nice. They have wicker benches at some of the tables. That and all the homemade food really add to the home style feel. Also, the box lunches (as previous reviewers have mentioned) get you a sandwich, side, deviled egg, and upcake of your choosing...a great deal at $9. The first time I had a cold so all I got was their Italian wedding soup. I was impressed at the quality of the soup. My only gripes were 1) the "bowl" was kind of small and 2) the soup was not quite hot enough. Easy to get over these as the flavor of the soup was outstanding. There were generous helpings of tender meatballs and the broth had just the right amount of saltiness. Today I visited again and felt well enough to tackle their Thanksgiving sandwich (TS). There aren't too many places I've seen with this sandwich on the menu. Cappriotti's is probably the most famous in this area with their 'Bobbie' and they set the bar pretty darn high. Dixie Picnic had their work cut out for them to even compete. They not only competed, they may have won outright! However, this is not an apples-to-apples comparison... Capp's Bobbie is served on a classic, long hoagie roll. DP's TS is served on a homemade roll that is soft, thick, and slightly sweet. The Bobbie uses pulled/shredded turkey, the TS serving up plenty of thickly sliced turkey. Both places use mayo, some cranberry sauce (with real cranberries), and stuffing. I'd need a few more TS's to make the final call, but I think I like their stuffing better than Capp's. I think if I had to choose between the two, I'd probably pick DP's TS because of the soft bread and sliced turkey...but you absolutely can't go wrong with either. I'm not that big a cupcake fan but I did try a piece of their pumpkin spice upcake after my first visit and it was really good. I'll definitely be back to try their other offerings...but they've made it really hard to stray from the TS. Well done, Dixie Picnic!

You will not be disappointed! We've been to Dixie Picnic about ten times since moving to West Chester. Great (5 star) breakfast and lunches. Very consistent. We've tried a lot of different items and they have all been delicious. The people who work there care about their product and customer service.

I'm still in love with Dixie! Today I had a lunch special - grilled cheese on multigrain with tomato soup - F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S. It was gooey cheesy goodness and a perfect lunch for a Winter's day. To finish I had the banana pudding which is always wonderful. The staff is always friendly and go out of their way to greet me by name and remember my order.

I can't believe I only gave this place 4 stars when I reviewed them last. What was I thinking? Based on the experience I just had with them this past week where we had a team lunch there for 12, I have to say that their service is absolutely top notch. It helped that we called the order in advance, but when we got there the food was ready for us right away. And in our group of 12, not only was everyone impressed, they started buying extra food just to take home to their family. Well, more specifically they started buying upcakes. I will say this without hesitation. Previous reviews have mentioned the upcakes, so you know what they are about. I will tell you that these cakes are as good as any gourmet cupcake place around, and maybe better than most. Really, these cakes are on par with some of the finest out there (if you get the right flavor that is, I will say that some flavors are better than others). You won't go wrong with the carrot cake, the peanut butter and chocolate, or the strawberry and vanilla. My standard box lunch order... Thanksgiving sandwich, potato salad, deviled egg, and carrot cake upcake... order that and you'll thank me later. I swear I had one this week, and I think it was even better tasting than I remember it in the past. I left there in bliss. In the past, I've also enjoyed their chili and pulled pork. And the staff has always been attentive and professional. As I just mentioned, they are perfect for a team lunch if you work nearby. In an area where there are a lot of ordinary places to eat, this place really stands out. They care about the quality of their food more than most places, and it shows.

I'm usually a little skeptical about low-key places, but Dixie Picnic is a pleasant surprise hidden in the Lincoln Shopping Center on the edges of the Main Line. Clean, simple and casual make for a great experience when you're surrounded by delicious food and friendly service. Shrimp and grits were spicy and filling, while the Georgia pork sandwich on brioche was amazing. Potato salad was definitely one of the best I've had, though I wasn't so keen on the sweet pickle that topped off the side. They also carry Honest Tea and Joe's Half and Half drinks, though I'd highly recommend the fresh sweetened lemonade if you're thirsty. Took home the pistachio, mocha, peanut butter and vanilla yellow cake upcakes, and were extremely happy with all of them (roommate-cat fervently concurs).

What a psycho nightmare. Do yourself a favor and don't even waste your time here. My husband and I went in for breakfast this Sunday. We ordered at the counter.. eggs for him and a bagel with smoked salmon for me. Total $28 Pricey for self serve but we did not even think about it. We filled our own drinks at the fountain and grabbed a seat. When my lox and bagel were put in front of me I was shocked. There was literally less than 2 ounces of salmon on the plate. I put it in the bagel and it did not even cover the entire bottom half of the bagel. I immediately brought it up to the counter and politely asked the waitress for either more salmon or something different. She pulled the owner Tracey aside and then all hell broke loose. The owner then proceeded to tell me in a very loud voice "this is our serving size". I said that it was a small portion for a $10 sandwich. She proceeded to yell saying that she could no longer use the food--I think her head was spinning by this point and her eyes were popping out of her head. She tossed my food into the bus pan or trash behind the counter. I was speechless. I told her that I am a repeat customer and that I did not appreciate her attitude. I walked back to my seat to tell my husband I was leaving and psycho owner lady walked back to us slammed the $10 down and I left. ( I took the $10 it was NOT given to my husband as comment states below!!!)I have never been treated so poorly at any restaurant EVER. She was RUDE completely unprofessional and on top of it could have cared less about customer satisfaction. All I wanted was some salmon with my bagel. All she cared about was her crappy $2 worth of lox. She lost a customer and I am sure is a member of some satanic clan. I have never seen someone so crazed with such an attitude. Do not bother going there. I ended up next door at Mesa a Mexican place that was fabulous, with a huge plate of fish tacos and rice and chips for $7. The man there was so nice and pleasant- suggesting different platters I could have kissed him he was so sweet. And after leaving Dixie Hell I was starving and miserable. Thankfully the fish tacos made me forget all about that pathetic salmon on a bagel and the witch's attitude as well. *******Comment below----- from Dixie Picnic is inaccurate and I would like to add that I initially refused my money back at the counter because in her frenzy she could not get the register opened I wanted to get the Heck out of there! I took the refund at the table--she slammed it down in front of ME (as stated) NOT my husband, nor did anyone speak to him or he to anyone there. We got a harrasing phone call (on my husbands work issued cell phone BTW---so they tracked us down--nice huh?...) today stating that if I did not remove this comment from Yelp-- Mr. Dixie Picnic would have to take other costly to-me measures to protect his business and his employees. Implying that some legal actions would be taken. A sincere apology would have done the trick--but I never did get that---(no apology was ever offerred--he only offerred his attitute which he obviously shares with his wife). I told him that Customer satisfaction is not a priority. Poor customer service and now implying costly threats. NICE! The only reason I was contacted....(harrased via telephone) was NOT to offer me an apology for the rude, horrible attitute- but to ask me to remove this review.- His exact words were " What can we do in order for you to remove this review"........because as I stated-- their concern is for themselves! Harm done.....treated like crap. Unless Yelp decides to honor the request of the owner (which he mentioned that he did request that) to remove this review, My HONEST REVIEW STAYS! **I apologize for jokingly implying that the owner Tracey is a follower of SATAN. It was innapropriate and only used as a humorous comparison to her behavior. When I asked that they do not contact my husband again on his work cell--The owner refused- stating he would be calling my husband again. It is time for Dixie Picnic to take this energy and devote it to customer satisfaction and treating people with courtesy and respect. This review is MY FAIR OPINION-- not a threat or in any way an unfair or undeserved review. Dixie Picnic DO NOT CONTACT ME via telephone AGAIN!

My husband and I we're in town for a conference and we had breakfast here. The food was delicious, biscuits soft and butter with a slight crunch on the outside. The coffee was good and self serve. I hate waiting for coffee in the morning. If you are in the area I would recommend it.

I was a fan of Dixie Picnic when they were open in Ocean City, NJ, and I was excited to check it out now that they had moved to a slightly closer location, in Malvern. I went on a Thursday for dinner and ordered a chicken salad box lunch. I was quite hungry so rather than read the menu, I zeroed in on the items marked in yellow as patron favorites. The deviled egg was fantastic. I just wish there were more of them because I inhaled mine. My chicken salad "fan favorite" sandwich was delightful: a fresh tasting salad with chicken, grapes and pecans in a light dressing on a whole grain bread. I ordered the potato salad as my side and it was tasty and reminiscent of the egg as it had bits of hard boiled egg in it and was sprinkled generously with paprika. I finished off my meal with a lemon "upcake" which is a little cake covered on all sides (except the very bottom) with icing. An upcake of your choosing included in all box lunches. On their own, the upcakes are $2, which isn't too bad. My meal was around $10 total and a fantastic deal. I left very satisfied! I don't make it out to these suburbs often, but next time I'm in the area, I'll definitely come back to Dixie Picnic!

My office just moved to Malvern, so I've been exploring lunch options lately. Dixie Kitchen is by far the best I've tried yet! I got one of their signature lunch boxes- I chose a chicken salad sandwich with a potato salad side, a deviled egg and a chocolate salted caramel upcake. I was pleasantly surprised at the portions and size of the sandwich- just right! In fact, I had my sides to snack on later. I walked in to pick it up and knew I had chosen the right place- it smelled heavenly! My lunch was perfect; I highly recommend.

If you find yourself in the land of culinary slim pickings, otherwise known as Frazer, head straight for Dixie Picnic, an oasis serving southern style foods. I have been here for breakfast and lunch. The country Virginia ham with fresh biscuits were fabulous with an over-easy egg I ordered on the side. The lunch box combos are terrific - my pecan chicken salad had a generous amount of pecans, served on healthy oat bread. The deviled egg was perfect as was the "upcake" it comes with. Homemade lemonade is delicious. Prices may seem a bit on the high side on your first visit, but once you taste the good and quality of the ingredients, it will seem like a bargain.

We went there for brunch with a couple of friends. They highly recommended the food, especially the sticky bun. It's a small space but very welcoming. It was hard to choose between a lot of delicious items. I got breakfast burrito and we all shared one sticky bun. I really enjoyed what I got and the sticky bun is dangerously delicious. It's big enough to share among at least 4 people. I also saw their selection of "upcake." It's basically a cupcake but with icing top down. I would love to go back there to try other things out. They all seem to be fairly priced which is a huge plus.

Yesterday I went to lunch at Dixie Picnic as I have heard many wonderful things about this place. It was my first time here and I look forward to returning soon! I had a Nutty Chicken Salad sandwich on multi-grain bread. Both the chicken salad and the bread were extremely high quality, fresh and one of the best I have ever had! The desserts there looked equally appealing and I plan on trying them next time. I had a fountain soda and the refill was free, which is a nice perk. The staff were very friendly and customer service oriented. The prices were very reasonable as well. I'd highly recommend Dixie Picnic as a lunch option for both quality and service!

Really bad customer service. .. dont have a clue. Care to your clientele or you will lose business. Go to any of the diners down the street. There are three close and one within walking distance. Not my money but you can have my review. Go somewhere else to dine.

First off, Dixie Picnic is delicious. We frequent this establishment all the time. I highly recommend the food and would've ALWAYS said wonderful things about the service-until today. I have never heard an owner chastise her employee like I did today. The owner complained to the very nice young girl about our order, AND she did it so loudly that we heard her. She was complaining the whole time we were there about how she didn't do this and she didn't do that- I don't really know. All I know is that one should NEVER complain at work, especially when it comes to being so loud that your customers hear you. It made us feel VERY uncomfortable, and sadly, you will lose the nicest employees that you have.

Dixie Picnic is in the Lincoln Court strip mall. I had no problem parking in the ample parking lot when I was there. On this visit, I had the BBQ pork sandwich with coleslaw. I think Dixie Picnic does try to add a little something to their food to give it a bit of zing. The coleslaw was not like ordinary coleslaw that you might find at a diner. The pulled pork was adequately spiced up too. That said, I also have to point out that you'll be paying upscale cafe prices for not that much food. If portions were a bit larger, it would be perfect. Service was pretty good. It's a small shop with the same people doing the cooking and working the cash register, so you may have to ring the bell for service sometimes.

The first time I experienced Dixie Picnic was that my office got them to cater a lunch for a large meeting. Dixie Picnic is very popular for their "Bette's Boxed Lunches" in these little 7x7 inch box there is a sandwich, a side salad, a deviled egg and most importantly an upcake. These boxed lunches are a great idea if you want something to take on the road, have a little picnic, or just to take back to work. The boxed lunches allow you to choose a sandwich (cold not a hot sandwich) a side salad (my favorite is the pasta salad) and the upcake. These upcakes are probably a staple to the success of this place. They offer a boatload of flavors, and they are always just as good as the last time you enjoyed it. Also to try to figure out how to recreate these upcakes is mind boggling, everyone seems to have theories, but each theory cannot be proven. These things are absolutely delicious. They offer sandwiches that range from regular every day to unique creations. For example the Thanksgiving sandwich is exactly what it sounds like, and it is available all year. I never heard anything bad about their sandwiches, and they have hot options like a pork bbq which is very good. Why they only get a 4 star, the breads that the sandwiches are on can crumble and not hold their consistency. It gets annoying if your bread quits before you are done your sandwich. Another thing I am not a big fan of is that the boxed lunches should include the hot sandwiches as well. I know that they don't store as easily, however this would be a great option for the patrons that enjoy their other sandwiches. Lastly, the past couple of times the roast been was chewy and stringy, this was not something that I enjoyed. As a matter of fact the first time I enjoyed the RB sandwich the beef was fantastic, I hope that these experiences were just a coincidence, however if it happens again I will probably not order that sandwich any longer. To wrap it up, Dixie Picnic really does provide you with a great value lunch. You will make others around you very jealous, I promise. If you want to add an extra upcake they will run you about $2.50. These things are worth every penny. The menu has something for everyone as well, so give it a try.

One of our very favorite places for breakfast or lunch. For breakfast, the Southern Sticky French toast is addictive. For lunch, a box lunch with your choice of "upcake" is a must. Everything is freshly prepared and delicious!

This is one of the great local places that's worth going out of your way for... I eat here at least once a week for lunch and usually more frequently. Box lunches are outstanding - from the Smithfield ham, shrimp salad, chicken salad, and more. A variety of bread choices made on site - in fact, everything seems to be homemade. You get a sandwich, an upcake (a cupcake frosted on three sides instead of one), a great deviled egg, and a side all in the mix. Both the potato and pasta salad get great reviews from everyone as a side but I go potato salad. The muffuletta sandwich is great, the sweet potato fries are outstanding, and co-workers rave about the pulled pork (with or without brie). Breakfasts are definitely worth a visit too. The Smithfield ham on a scratch made flaky biscuit with melted cheddar is out of this world and the cinnamon bun is very good too. The staff is extremely friendly, portions are good, and there are always specials (and new and different upcakes) like fried cod po' boys and other great stuff to try every week. Only downside, it's a tough place to enjoy if you're on a diet. This place embraces southern food and all the good (unhealthy!) ingredients that go with it.

This place has great food for a decent price. Somehow it really does manage to have a picnic atmosphere even during the bitter cold of winter. The staff is very friendly, the burgers are juicy, but the pulled pork sandwich is a bit salty. 'nuff said.

Stunningly delicious food and good atmosphere and staff. Favorites include Thanksgiving Sandwich box lunch. They also serve breakfast which is awesome. You must try the Southern sticky bun french toast which is so good I order it every time and dream about it often. The upcakes (my favorite is chocolate malt) are always moist and far better than the gourmet cupcake stores. Dean and Tracey, the owners, are always manning the store, and ensure a great experience.

I'd driven by this inconspicuous place a handful of times, but never really knew what to make of it. I decided to stop in for lunch, and glad I did. When you walk in, you will see a display cases filled with their "upcakes". Awesome little cakes, which I tried resisting, but ultimately got two to go (strawberry and Chocolate on chocolate)...yum!!!! Also the cashier remembered my name the second time I went up to order my cakes which was very sweet:) Anyway, I could not decide between the goat cheese praline salad or the grilled chicken pesto wrap.... However, I ended up getting one of their specials for the day: Hippity Jalepeño Burger. It was fantastic!!! I'm a fan of spicy food, so the jalepeños and pepper jack cheese really hit the spot. I got mine with fries, but they have other side options like sweet potato fries, pasta salad, fruit salad, etc. Since you order at the counter, and the food is brought out to you, I don't think there's an expectation for tips, but I certainly would have, if i'd been carrying cash (you can't tip on the card)

First off, you *MUST* go here! The food is excellent and very high quality. Check out the menu at dixiepicnic.com/menu.html . Most of you know that there are few reasonably-priced restaurants on the Main Line that have good quality food - but the Dixie Picnic is certainly one of them. You can tell that they take pride in the quality of the food. And the prices are very reasonable for the food that you get. Most of us had the French Toast A L'orange - probably the best french toast I have ever had. My son had the veggie sandwich box lunch - with the upcake of course - and it was also excellent. The owner and the staff were super friendly and the place was clean and bright. We like to avoid the red meat and chicken and Dixie Picnic has many choices for us. I am sick and tired of finding high-priced restaurants on the Main Line where the food is substandard and they are riding mainly on their name - or the fact that the pickings are slim as far as restaurants. So to find the Dixie Picnic was so satisfying to me. Our $$$ will be heading West to Malvern from now on instead of East to those substandard places. The Dixie Picnic will be on the top of the list for breakfast and lunch from now on.

Grab the whole family and head to Dixie Picnic for fresh, tasty homemade food and superior service! My family and I go to Dixie Picnic frequently, mostly for the breakfast menu, but we eat lunch there sometimes, too. The food is always delicious. We all love the southern sticky french toast. It is sweet and yummy! My older son always enjoys the breakfast sammich. From the lunch menu, try the ribs or shrimp and grits. Also, as you check out, grab a few boxes of lava salt caramels that are next to the register. Homemade and heavenly!

You have to get a box lunch here. It comes with a sandwich, upcake, chips or pasta/potato salad, and a deviled egg. All for $8.99! Try the Thanksgiving with the pesto pasta salad and coconut on yellow cake. It's soo good. Okay, so maybe its not the House of Cupcakes quality, but for the price? Unsurpassed. Service is also great.

Deviled eggs! Smithfield ham! And of course, upcakes. Dixie Picnic is one of my favorite restaurants in the area, and always the place I pick to have lunch with the husband since he works nearby. Love, love, love their "box" lunch meals. I've only tried two types of sandwiches so far, because both were so good I haven't wanted to stray much. Smithfield ham is definitely an experience - paper-thin slices, very salty - but once you get addicted to it it's hard to move on. The chicken salad sandwich is also INCREDIBLE (and I am picky about chicken salad). The lunches also come with a deviled egg, which is what won me over initially, and a side of potato salad, coleslaw, etc. Potato salad is really good. And last but not least, an upcake! So moist. Some of the best cupcakes I've ever tried. I've never had a disappointing flavor. We've had other things here, and have never been disappointed. Dixie Picnic also ran the tea cart at the Devon Horse Show and all the food there was as amazing as you'd expect. (I wish they'd bring some of it to the store, in particular the scones.) Just writing this review is making my mouth water!

Sadly the entire review that Heather F wrote is an accurate account of what we experienced at Dixie Picnic. They are rude, do not care about customer satisfaction and contacted us.....( they left a voicemail message and my wife returned call) only in order to have us remove the yelp review. Then he threatened us if we did not comply. The Eggs Benedict- were average and I did NOT ENJOY them as my wife left because she was made to feel so uncomfortable! Clearly Dixie Picnic should have done everything to make us happy customers from the start. This has nothing to do with a small portion of salmon-rather how we were treated. In no way are we on a mission to destroy any local business. They are on a solo mission themselves. For Breakfast--do yourself a favor and go to Classic Diner Where the servings are HUGE and the Hospitality Superb!

Went there today for lunch. I got the Grilled Chicken Pesto Wrap, which was not bad. But our table was messy before we sat down (I cleaned it), and the side I got, a "fruit salad" would have been better labeled a "small fruit cup". The staff was friendly and asked more than once if we had everything we needed. Kind of unfortunate it's in a big shopping center -- the ambiance by the window was to look out over a sea of cars.

My.favorite.place .on.the.planet. PERIOD. THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've eaten here several times and tried many different things, including the upcakes (which are hands-down, fantastic, moist, and delicious everytime!!), sandwiches, salads, soups, and vegetarian chili--I would recommend EVERYTHING here!!! The shrimp and grits are my fav and I don't even like grits. BUT I LOVE THEM HERE!!!!!! I used to go into their store in Ocean City and cannot even begin to tell you how happy I am that I found them in the Malvern area. I don't know why some previous comments (not naming names...salmon bagel person cough cough) have been so negative, but this place is FABULOUS. Go. Now. Do not wait any longer. Go. Eat the vegi sandwich...it's delish! And the employees are awesome--I've met the owner, numerous times, and she is so friendly, helpful and sweet!!! :) When I can't make up my mind (which is a good thing!!) she always makes good suggestions and helps answer any questions. Anywho, back to my rave about Dixie Picnic...go try them, NOW :) You won't be disappointed. Southern comfort food at it's best!!!

Dixie Picnic is a sit-down restaurant serving tasty, traditional American fare. We found the service to be capable and friendly. The dining room is clean and inviting. The food is freshly prepared and yummy. I suppose the "Upcake" desserts are a star attraction, and I did enjoy them, but I think the meals stand out even more. I especially recommend the "Thanksgiving" sandwich (basically a "bobby": turkey, stuffing, mayonnaise and cranberry sauce on fresh bread), the Muffuletta Sandwich and the macaroni-and-cheese.

Had dinner there tonight with a friend. I had the beer battered cod po boy on special with sweet potato fries and she had the chicken pot pie on special. I loved the sandwich topped with lettuce and tomato and an amazing lime aoli. Yummy. Home chicken pot pie must have been good she devoured the whole thing. Definitely will be going back Got some upcakes to take home. Nummy!!!!

Went here because I wanted to try the "upcakes." They have a ton of different flavors to drool over. They give you a good amount of food and the sandwiches are pretty decent but nothing too impressive. Everything is very you-could-make-it-at-home-yourself-and-pack-your-own-picnic-basket. I tried the pistachio upcake... I was kind of disappointed because the icing tasted like it was from a can. Pillsbury? Duncan Hines? Not sure... but it was toasted almond icing on a yellow cake. The upcakes would be sooo much better if they had whipped icing.

One of my most favorite restaurants. Food is homemade and everything is delicious! Staff is friendly too!

Good sandwiches but better #burgers. #Desserts are interesting and the people are nice. $10 would be enough for lunch if you do not have dessert. Try it.

Repeat after me, in spellbound robot voice: "Must...have...Thanksgiving...Sandwich" This place is so earnest and unassuming, you have to love it. The food is excellent, too. All homemade, with great attention to detail all the way down to thoughtfully pairing particular homemade breads with particular sandwiches (Sally Lund roll with Thanksgiving sandwich, for instance). The food has an unmistakable southern accent and someone has also hit the 'flavah boost' button on everything they serve. You are sure to find at least one item on the menu that you will crave (beyond the Upcakes, which shamefully indulge our sweet tooth). Dixie Picnic offers a bunch of nice touches that others miss but you can't always put your finger on, from the attentive friendly staff, to warm coffee mugs, all the way down to the box lunch accouterments like deviled eggs and Upcakes. We have had many of their delicious sandwiches, soups, breakfasts and entrees. Dixie Picnic is worth seeking out and is firmly established on our list of regular stops. Definitely a standout.

YAY to newly extended hours! And please come back to the West Chester restaurant festival so I can vote for best cUpcake again! I continue to dream of the strawberry upcake, and the frosting on the red velvet is A-MA-ZING.

Just had lunch at Dixie Picnic with some friends and it was great. I ordered the muffaletta and it was darn near perfect. A very tasty olive relish smothered over a nice layer of meat and cheese on the traditional muffaletta loaf. The loaf itself was light and flavorful with a great just-slightly-chewy texture. I could have handled it being toasted a little more, but that's picking nits. One friend ordered the crab cakes and the other ordered the chili and conrbread, and both were very satisfied with their lunches as well. On the way out the door I grabbed a piece of the Key Lime pie and it was really good as well. Light texture with a healthy amount of lime zest and a moist graham cracker crust. A little bit sweet for my personal tastes (I like my fruit desserts on the tart side), but I would order it again. Will definitely be going back for breakfast and lunch.

I have been there twice. The home fries are nice & crispy on the outside. They have a delicious jam they serve w/breakfast. I would like a few jars for home. I spent more on upcakes to take home, than I did for breakfast. All was great.I needed to know to order at the counter.

This is one of my favorite places in Malvern. In the past, it was hard to get in there because of their hours (closed early during the week, not open on Sundays). Now that they've changed their hours, it's a little easier to get in there. I am seriously addicted to their upcakes. They are so moist and yummy, I've bought them to bring to family events (they never last long). Great flavors and fun specialty upcakes available for holidays (I took some down to Alabama with me and they lasted just fine). As far as their food goes, I can speak to the old menu - we haven't made it in since they redid the kitchen and expanded their menu. I love their breakfast, great ham and cornbread breakfast sandwich as well as breakfast burritos. I'm looking forward to going back just writing about it ;-)

Great little place tucked into a nondescript shopping center. Best lunch in Malvern. The staff is friendly, the food is uniformly excellent and freshly prepared. On that note -- it's not fast food. Be prepared to wait for your lunch. There's always a line because it's getting more and more popular but they're not compromising the food or the service as they grow. The nutty chicken salad sandwich is hands down the best sandwich I've ever eaten. The devilled eggs, the "upcakes", the seasonal specials, the homemade salt caramels they sell at the register -- it's all great!

I agree with some of the comments of the other reviewers, but seriously... Dixie Picnic is one of those places you kinda dream of... I just went today and had the Georgia bbq w/ potato salad that had a sweet pickle on top, and washed it down with fresh brewed iced tea! nice even for being like 23 degrees out... My wife had the bette box with chicken salad, slaw, it was yumms. Im a stickler for good Potato salad, this was really good. I talked to one of the owners. He was really nice. I found this place by accident actually. I had been meaning to eat at Dixie when it was down at the shore, but it was closed then. The upcakes are stinkin awesome, we had the sour cherry, and also the strawberry. So great... Cant wait to go back, they are getting ready to redo the kitchen and add all the stuff from the original menu. Go there..

We have been going here every Saturday or Sunday morning for brunch for a while. Great food but with smallish portions IMO on some of the dishes such as the biscuits and gravy, french toast, and side dishes with the box lunches. But I've liked everything I have tried, though I do have my favorites - Thanksgiving sandwich, cheese grits, french toast.

Both times I've gotten take out here I haven't gotten what I requested... but I didn't feel like driving back, waiting, or dealing with it. Twice is two many... and it's not cheap. I didn't feel the food was particularly tasty either. They always seem stressed out in there... and it's not a nice atmosphere. Not particularly fast when you need to get in and out -- at lunch.
