It claims to be the winner of Best Local Pizza, I beg to differ. Tried a slice of plain and pepperoni. Pretty much on par with bowling alley snack bar pizza. Doesn't live up to the expectations the decor implies. Restaurant is right out of casting central, pin ball machine, old kitschy pizza signs, neon beer signs, etc.

We are from Cleveland and found this place while on a vacation to Idlewild park in 2008. I consider myself a food connoisseur and credit my tongue for most of the success as well as my better than average cooking talent, so I am told. I know good food! I have had pizza from New York to Italy. I know the difference between fresh ingredients to frozen or canned toppings that become obvious on a mushy pizza. Genoa pizza is one of the best flavored pizzas I had ever and the secret is the dough and sauce. First, the sauce is sweet pasty and sticks to the cooked dough. This is important for this is the layer the cheese floats on. If the sauce doesn't dehydrate as it cooks (initial sauce consistency), you have cheese that slides off the pizza. Many pizza shops use a commercial sauce that has a high water content. This sauce is homemade. Secondly, the dough is properly kneaded and not tough. It's texture is that of chewy/crispy and holds firm enough without toppings sliding off. I have never had a pizza there which was undercooked. We order the mushroom and onion and a second of pepperoni and sausage. First, a mushroom and onion pizza is one of the most tricky pizzas to cook as it has a high moisture content so it needs to be cooked a tad longer so it's not so mushy. Many places use fresh mushrooms to avoid this problem. Gino's of course uses Dutch Pennsylvania mushrooms, though canned, Italians of NY and Chicago love these shroons and of course I expect them from a pizza shop is Pennsylvania! When cooked, they stay moist instead of shrivel up. Over the course of seven years bringing our families up here for the Amusement parks and skiing, we have eaten here about 8 times, so I can talk about consistency in flavor and service. First, the employees seem family oriented and always are considerate and kind. Even apologetic when innocent mistakes are made as humans do. Secondly, Genos is located in a very small slower paced town called Ligonier, so I do not expect a pace that I get in Chicago once I place my order. A 25 minute wait is acceptable once the order is placed. The atmosphere is cozy quaint with character. The staff are older and mature. Overall the pizza is a 8.5 /10 and service a 8/10. We plan on dining at Genos for many years to come and as each year comes to an end we wait patiently for our next dinning experience at Genos Pizza!

Love it!!! Great food and we left with some cash in the pocket!!!! We had the pizza, a couple salads, lasagna and rigatoni. All was very good and the staff was friendly. They have a 6 pack shop as well as a couple beers on tap to go along with it. Thanks

Wonderful food, super helpful and friendly staff and it's the kind of place you want to go to have a great pizza. They still use deck ovens which cook so much better than conveyors. They have beer and a great menu. It's not a big place but in my experience, the smaller places have always been the best.

The hours were much more convenient than the other pizza spots in town and the employees were pleasant, but other than that, nothing to write home about. Our pizza was filling, but not fully cooked and so the cheese and toppings were sliding off. The toppings were fresh (nothing frozen), but without a fully cooked pizza, they didn't make it special.

The pizza here is definitely some of THE BEST I have ever had! The crust was just right - crunchy but yet not overly done. Their sauce is clearly homemade. The cheese is fresh - perfectly melted and the toppings (we had pepperoni mushrooms and onions) were proportioned perfectly. We were a little skeptical upon seeing their menu - as it is a bit sparse. But we soon found out that with the pizza this place makes who would want anything else?! Cheap draft beer here as well if that's your drink of preference. Small place but BIG on quality and taste in their pizza!!

Honestly , this is the best pizza in all of PA. You walk in and you get that old typical mountain style small town restaurant. Every time I visit my grandmother I always order from here and take it my place in Pittsburgh. The sauce is very good and sweet . The cheese steak sub is to die for . Great place . Sadly it looks like their hitting a rough spot in business which is a shame but this pizza joint is excellent. Great for after a bike ride in Lynn run or after a intense session at seven springs. This is place is great!
