This place is the best and definitely good breakfast.... It is a huge place with lots of nice stuff... Polish pottery.... Christmas ornaments. It is an eating and buying place. Live it up,

A few tips that might help you at this most excellent restaurant, particularly if you stop for lunch on your trip on route 15 in eastern Pennsylvania: (1) You can order off the menu or have the buffet at any meal. Except on weekends, the lunch menu does not usually offer the broasted chicken, although you can find it on occasion - sometimes covered with barbecue sauce or honey sauce. On a weekday when would like the broasted chicken, order it off the menu. It will not take long to get the meal, and the chicken is worth it. (2) If you don't care for chicken or have had enough lately, try ordering something else from the menu. The BLT sandwich I had last week was one of the best I have had anywhere. (3) For breakfast the buffet is the best option - a good selection for the money. (4) Take time to check out the baked goods on the way out as snack or meal later.

Got dragged here unwittingly today, not knowing what it was. Apparently it's the original Cracker Barrel. So you've got: -The obligatory stroll through the old-timey crap store just to get seated -Pre-manufactured wholesomeness -Smack-you-across-the-face cliche country decor -Bland, bland, bland food, but mercifully easy to chew for their... -Geriatric customer base The Country Cupboard takes it a step further and makes their female waitstaff dress like old-order mennonites and the few male waitstaff wear barbershop quartet outfits. Still not enough charm? Our waitress spent our meal scratching her temple like a winning lottery ticket. Charm! Most in my party went to the buffet. I ordered off the menu, which apparently threw the kitchen staff a HUGE curveball since it took 20 minutes to get a generic, bland, cold turkey sandwich. Portions were small, but the atmosphere and food quality were such a turn-off, I opted out of dessert. So who knows? Maybe chocolate sheet cake could have saved the meal. Obviously places like this have their demographic. If you want cheap, mediocare, all-you-can-eat food with all the charm of a Ma & Pa Kettle set, come on in!

The food use to be really good at the buffets, but I feel it has gone down hill. The best feature the place has is its variety shops within the complex, which is a huge draw to the place. The full buffet is $19.99. I opted for the Soup, Salad, and Dessert buffer for 1/2 the cost, which I enjoyed slightly better. Their individual menu items were better, but I was disappointed in the food quality over the past years. I hope it gets better because right now I won't be back to dine only to shop. Plenty of parking.

Stopped by twice in 3 days, on our way down amd back to D.C. First stop- got a turkey wrap, chocolate chip whoopie pie, and a bag of homemade hard pretzels for the road. The turkey wrap was good. Nice chunks of tomato and the turkey was real sliced turkey breast not some weird rubbery cold cut meat. Chocolate chip whoopie pie was like a little pillow in a bag. Lovely! It was so soft and fluffy- the cake part reminded me of a mix between a really good chocolate chip pancake and a chocolate chip muffin top. YUM. Pretzels were great, but REALLY dry (obvi). Loved the burnt pieces... So good! Didn't sample any of the other goods nor did I buy any merchandise but I had a good time walking around and looking at all of the random brick-a-brack that they sell. Went back on Easter Sunday, around 1:30pm... Place was PACKED. We opted only to use the bathrooms and move right along. Would definitely stop back if I'm ever on a drive that way again.

I recently visited the Country Cupboard for the first time last Friday. I heard a lot of mixed reviews about the place but i am a optimistic person so i thought i would give it a go. When i got there i was impressed on what all they had to offer i enjoyed cracker barrel with its store but the country cupboard put them to shame i mean seriously i thought i was going to need a tram just to get around in the building. Well when i finally found the dinning room i was greeted by very friendly staff and got a seat right away even during dinner. The waiter was very friendly and courteous, and the food selection was good i opted for the buffet cause i mean come on one does not simply turn down a all you can eat journey. I thought that the price of 20 dollars was a little steep but it included drinks so i was not going to be that guy and down them for just the price. The food was good i absolutely loved the baked corn and the pumpkin and spice muffins but my only complaints was that there fried chicken tasted like a banquet pop in the oven chicken and i was not happy with the prime rib it was WELL DONE and being a fan of prime rib you know that there has to be a warm pink center. but all in all my experience was not the greatest but i would come back to eat at this place more for the shopping though then the eating.

Great place. Do shopping. Buffet is great and fresh food. Great Sweet and Sour dressing. They make it fresh. If you just go there to drink the sweet and Sour dressing, because it is sooo Good you wouldn't be the first. I have done it 3-4 times. They kick me out when i can't control myself and drink it off the salad bar. Just put it in a bowl and take it back to your seat. Just kidding, but really though it is good.

Locals rave about this place, but I think it's because few of them have ever left the area and experienced real dining. I've been to Country Cupboard a few times, and the quality of the food ranges from mediocre to decent. The food is kinda like something your grandma would make, providing that grandma never went to culinary school and was born with half of her taste buds missing. As far as the food goes, my rating would be "eh, it was okay I guess". The waitstaff was friendly however and the prices reasonable. The decor could use a little updating though.

Always the Best. Never disappointed. Always Super Clean. Nancy has the dining room under control. We stopped for dinner buffet. For price can't be beat. Fresh-all homemade-great variety-from soup to desserts. Ann our waitress again always pleasant. Attentive. And professional. Two complaints from "my manly" point. 100 feet from front door to dining room but takes wife 30 minutes to get there and hour from dining room out to car...... Coffee is The Best- but cups are to small for my finger Restrooms are always super clean. In fact whole complex is super clean. Great variety of anything and everything. To browse and take a break. But again if you let wife out be prepared to shop Always something new they need. Or they think "we" need. But not overpriced.

Love this place my all time favorite. I recommend this place to everyone!!! I visit my hometown often and this is one of my favorite stops. Love the food and the shopping!!!
(5)Chris F.
We drive from northern va to upstate New York frequently. This is a must stop in both directions. We get mac n cheese and sticky buns to go - on the counter side of the establishment. We don't do the "sit down" restaurant side because we want to keep rolling! Love this place!
(5)L W.
My husband and I eat here when we are in the area about every nine weeks and I come back for one thing over and over : the Mac and cheese! Good food, good service! I would definitely recommend this palace to anyone. Very family friendly.
(5)Barry K.
The restaurant food is decent nothing amazing what makes this place cool is the whole experience. It feels like you went back into time in a country store. They have tons of different things to buy in the store. Candy, ice cream, baked goods ect. It is a place if you are in the area you must visit. It really is so cool!
(3)Jason J.
Not great... Chicken was decent but the mashed potatoes and gravy were from a powder and the salad was lackluster. You're coming here to quickly fill up not for great food.

This is one of those spots that makes you feel like you are in the country, through and through. We have been here many times, but this time was for a very special occasion. We celebrated my grandmother's 87th birthday so there were nearly 30 of us at our table. The buffet was the option that a majority of us selected but it wasn't as good this time as I recall it had been in the past. The service for our table was broken down into multiple waitresses which simply made sense because of our large group. The attentiveness was pretty good considering. You can, however, tell which staff enjoys what they do...and which staff is there because they need the paycheck. The shopping after the meal was such a treat! We spent quite a bit but had several goodies to take back home with us. To top off our day, they happened to have a car show going on right there in the parking lot. The music was great, some of the cars were amazing, and the staff outside was courteous and enjoying the beautiful weather right along with us. I recommend this place...the food is usually better. The experience is just something you have to try for yourself.

This is my second time here, and it will probably be my last. It is extremely expensive for what you actually get. 13.49$ for a lunch buffet that is minimal and bland is too much. The best thing I ate today was the Macaroni and Cheese. When the best thing on your buffet is Mac and Cheese, you have issues. Even their desserts are mediocre at best. Nothing stood out, and that's sad. Save your money and go anywhere else but here.
(1)Christina B.
This is a very unique place. We visited for lunch and decided to have the lunch buffet. It was average food with a large selection. If you are looking for a place with lots of food selections you should visit. This will probably not be our last visit and service was good and friendly.

My 1st visit to this restaurant was great. I came for breakfast and ordered the breakfast buffet. The buffet was ok, not a big variety of items but the food tasted great. The service was exceptionally good. The waitress team seem very attentive to the customers. The home fries were awesome, creamed beef midiocre, smoked sausage was good. The restrooms in this place were very clean a smelt fresh. Unfortunately there's only one toilet stall. After eating i enjoyed the shopping area of confectionery delights and country decor. a large selection of outside decorations and fountains. There's a peaceful during area next to a manmade creek. I highly recommend eating here with your family and kids. Can't wait to try another meal here.

Went here on a Sunday with large group of family members. Some ordered from menu; several had buffet. I opted for buffet - reasonable price including coffee. Was quite disappointed with buffet choices - no omelets, just scrambled eggs that looked like they'd been sitting for quite a while. Bacon was good. Not a big selection of fruits and muffins - maybe because they were getting ready to switch to lunch buffet. Sticky buns were okay but I have had better. I got my fill but not satisfied with quality of food. And we practically had to chase down the waitress to get our coffee refills. Those who ordered from menu were satisfied, but nothing to write home about. Gift shops, etc. are impressive but so are prices. A tourist trap for sure. Might go again to give them one more chance.

Not impressed. It looks like a retirement home. Most of the food was just "meh", crab cakes were terrible. No decor.
(2)Chris F.
Awesome unique place! I've been here many many times! So much food to choose from! I think every time I go I think I eat about 6 trillion calories! I've always had great service and the buffet has always been well taken care of...no dried up crusty corners of food in the pans or empty pans either! Not to mention everything tastes great! Then after you're done eating (if you can walk) they have a huge shopping area full of cool stuff to look at!

Stopped by Country Cupboard for breakfast on a Sunday morning. It was about 9 a.m, so the Sunday crowd did not make it there yet. We were seated immediately and decided on the buffet. This is one of the best breakfast buffets I have ever had. They had a bacon, smoked sausage, two different types of quiche, sausage and chipped beef gravy, hash browns, sticky buns, muffins, etc. I could go on and on. Did I say it was very good? Great thing about this place is they have an awesome place to buy baked goods, other food items, and a nice shopping area. I think it would be worth your time to stop here.
(4)Joe P.
This place is set up to do some volume - large buffet and everything is as good as buffet fare is getting. I'm in my 40s and was the youngest person in the place by 20 years...it has the look, feel and decor of an upscale retirement home cafeteria. Know your audience. That said, if you're passing through and looking for a quick road stop as we were, it's perfect.

I have been to the buffet twice now (we live over an hour away or would go more often) and had a great experience both times. The reviews that pick about the food or that there are a few older people in the dining area, well, they are the people who find fault with most everything in life. The food and service has been excellent both times, the food appearing and tasting like homemade. Love love love the soft serve, which is real custard, not the ice milk kind. Plenty of desserts to choose from. I also love the all inclusive pricing, so you can have what you want to drink and the cost does not change. The first visit was on a Saturday shortly after the dining room opened, which was smart. On our way out, we saw the long line of people waiting to enter. The second visit was on a Friday and although the dining room was doing a brisk business, it is not as crowded as the Saturday visit. The entire building is neat and clean, even the restrooms. There is more than one restroom which is wonderful, no waiting. There are very nice shops in the same building. There are shops, including antique shops, in the town on the other side of the road. It is also close to Selinsgrove where we saw signs for a couple antique shops but did not get a chance to visit. Looking forward to a third visit!

This place is the real deal... go there and see for yourself... you will not regret it.

Great food and ample portions. It's like finding yourself at grandma's house with ALL the leftovers to yourself ! We come to this gem every trip this way
(5)Craig M.
This was my stop when I would drive from NJ to Penn State. Still to this date it is my favorite buffet. Peach Cobbler, Sweet and Sour Salad Dressing, Ham, Bisquits, great lemoade! Sure it can get crowded but it is worth it. Also, I love the gift shop. The pretzels, jams and bakery is enough by itself to warrant a stop!
(5)Sue W.
We stay here for Penn State football games and boy we love it! The hotel is clean and quiet and the food!! YUM! The first time I ate there I had broasted chicken, Mac & cheese and baked corn...it was like I was eating my Grandmothers cooking again! My family is from Lancaster County so it's like when I was a kid. They do a booming business and even if there is a line the most we waited was 20 minutes. They can seat over 400 people. Highly recommend!!!

I am from western NY, used to live in MD, live in VA now and stop at the CC when visiting relatives. It's good comfort food! I particularly like the broasted chicken sandwich.
(4)Matthew D.
The food is ok, nothing great. The service isn't too bad, but depends on when you get there. The gift store and other shopping is NOT cheap. If you have a big group, it's the easiest place to get seated, but I would not recommend this place.
(2)Jason Z.
I really enjoy the Country Cupboard. The food is great, the bakery is amazing, and the shopping is cool. Great atmosphere.

I was travelling for business and it was just me so I didn't do the buffet. This review is only for my experience at the bakery/take-out counter. I was just passing through and decided to get a quick lunch and some take out items. I had the beef veggie soup before and it was really good. I bought Chicken Pot Pie, Hamburg BBQ, Baked Limas, Beef Veg Soup - all in the large containers and a small container of Ham Salad that I wanted to eat as my lunch. I asked the cashier, Pat, if I could purchase 2 slices of bread so that I could make a quick sandwich with my ham salad and she said we don't just sell slices of bread. I just purchased over $30 worth of food and you can't accommodate a simple request for bread? I'm not sure if its cheapness or greed but I was incensed! I am obviously not someone begging for food considering the money I spent there. They could have easily charged me for 2 cookies and given me some bread instead if the money wasn't the issue. I'm thinking here some training for their staff on flexibility and the customer is not the enemy would be appropriate here. I wouldn't go back.

We went to Country Cupboard Lewisburg for lunch on Sunday. We had prime rib dinner buffet. It was disappointing. All the prime rib were 100% cooked, and chewy. For $17per person plus tax and tip, I ate more baked corn and sweet potato than anything else, not worth it. I don't think I will go there for a long long time.
(2)Christopher W.
Take what I write here with a grain of salt - I don't like this place. Still, it is such a popular destination, I think people should know what is here, and that there are better alternatives out there. Country Cupboard is a destination unto itself. What started as a restaurant and small store in the 70s has now turned into a little empire! There is a restaurant that has dining areas for the general populace as well as banquet rooms. The food is so-so - what you would expect from a place that is on a highway and cranks out food for hundreds. Breakfast is off the menu or a buffet. Lots of greasy things, and though it is rotated well, it is nothing to write home about (for that, check out Tin Pan Galley, in Watertown, NY!). In particular, the sticky buns (that I used to love as a kid, though I have no idea why now) are a heart-attack waiting to happen, and not particularly good. Once you are done eating, check out everything else that the Cupboard has to offer. There is a gift and craft show, a year-round Christmas store, and a greenhouse with plants, flowers, and lawn stuff. Now part of the "complex" is a Best Western hotel, which actually has the best rooms for a hotel in town (though some B&Bs, like Turkey Hill in Bloomsburg) are much nicer. If you have a big group for dinner, and want something standard, the Cupboard may work. For a banquet, it's probably OK. Folks staying in the area for an event at Bucknell or elsewhere may find the convenience of the restaurant good (though the hotel offers complimentary continental fare from the restaurant). I recommend staying away, unless left with no choice. I am continually amazed, however, how many people go back there time and time again. Then again, some folks love the Cracker Barrel, too, and go there, and I can't stand the place. Check out my other Lewisburg restaurant reviews for other options.

I have been going to the Country Cupboard for many years (visiting two or three times a year). Today we were in the area and stopped for lunch. The waiting line was quite long and moved quickly. Upon being seated we were greeted by the waitress who quickly brought our drinks, took our orders, and delivered our food. I have never been disappointed with anything I have ordered. If you are hungry, the buffet for either breakfast, lunch, or dinner is quite good. Besides the good home cooking, there is an onsite bakery so you will get fresh baked breads and rolls. With great service, great food and a pleasant atmosphere, what more could you ask for! If you are in Lewisburg, PA make sure you try it. It is great!
(5)Jerry W.
Nice place to eat. Went with a group of 15 on Friday night. Most of us had the seafood buffet. It was good wholesome comfort food. My only complaint would be that I like my food spicy and the food on the buffet isn't. Nothing some pepper and hot sauce can't solve.
