This place is fantastic! There are no rules in this place, what so ever. Here's my experience at Bull Run Tap House for a Saturday night at midnight-ish. Sorry that it's an extended review but I had such a good time here that I had to describe every detail from entrance to exit. Their 5'5 ,130 lbs max "bouncer" was ID'ing my friends and I hard. Relax kid, class isn't in session yet and my ID isn't fake. Yes, I am from out of state like most of your students probably. Walked in and looked around, you can wear whatever you'd like. Saw one guy in that patented "SUNS OUT, GUNS OUT" wife beater shirt, gym shorts, and flip flops. One woman dressed for a very nice classy night at the local dance club (there are none). And a group of kids who look like prom just got out (in the end of July). My friends and I walked in with just jeans and a shirt, we fit right in. Pretty nice beer selection, kinda cold but kinda warm. I grab a 2 Jameson and ginger ales, 1 vodka soda, and 2 draft beers; about 5 minutes total in wait time for a moderately packed bar, not bad (I've had worse in an empty bar). 2 rounds of drinks total came out pretty cheap; definitely A+ on this. Sat in their dining area to continue to people watch and to listen to DJ Cisco; no, he didn't play Thong Song or knew anything about networking. As my friends and I continued to laugh and people watch, a group of kids dropped a pint glass. SMASH and glass everywhere! They continue to stand there and scoot away the broken glass from underneath them to an area no one was standing: the main entrance way of the bar. No one came to clean up the glass or check on the kids. Someone was leaning over the hostess station, BAM! Another glass gets dropped; still no one came to clean up the glass or check the well being of the patrons. Guy who dropped the glass, laughs and walks away. After observing this and thinking it's acceptable behavior in this establishment, my friends and I decided to partake. We throw a Tom Collins glass across the dining area and watch the glass not break but bounce all over the room, no warning from employees or bouncers. Then we proceeded to throw a pint glass, GLASS EXPLOSION! Finally, security walks up to us....and apologizes to us. What?! Haha! We decided to call it a night and proceeded to put our chairs on top of the table while security was watching us, and not stopping us at all. In conclusion, probably the best bar on Market St. I can see why college kids love this place and this establishment operates the way they do. I'll see you next time Bull Run. Please don't change, I can't wait to find out what else I can get away with here. Stay classy.

I feel like the only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because 1. I didn't go to the bathroom and 2. I need to be at a place more than once to give it 5 stars because consistency = a star. Sorry. Anyway, we sat at the bar and we're promptly greeted by the kind bartender. The beer was reasonable but a touch warm. So the bartender promptly chills a couple glasses for us. I ordered a burger and she had a quasadea. Both came out fast, fresh and hot. My burger was a perfect medium rare and her quasadea was bulging with chicken. No dessert offered but I was stuffed. Really nice atmosphere, family friendly and probably fun at night! Recommended!!

Just like many of the establishments on market street I've been here many many times. This place is really only fun at night when you're looking to party and get cheap bud lights with your friends. If it's any other time of the day and you're hungry and want a decent meal on Lewisburg this is not the place you should go. The food sucks and it also takes forever to get it. It sucks how some of these bars lower their standards because they mainly serve college students...

Bull Run has great bar food. They do half price appetizers I believe between 4-6 which makes them really worth it. The reuben here is absolutely delicious and a lot of their appetizers, such as the beer cheese with pretzels and spinach and artichoke dip, are as well. The wait staff was good and attentive. The half price appetizers really made this place even better, but it is worth going to regardless.

Our group came in at 9 pm after an event at Bucknell. 6 of us ordered dinner and drinks. Two more if our group came in at 1005 and asked if they could still order food. Answer was no. On a sat night at 10 pm. Are you know kidding me???? We all left and went across the street where they welcomed us.

Good thing Bucknell is still on break. Otherwise I suspect it would be crowded and loud. Instead it was almost deserted. Typical college bar. TONS of beers, food is nothing to make a special trip for. Hotel recommended, as well as son's ex girlfriend. Perhaps she hates him..... Believe the Yelpers. Prime Rib was "not good at all", fish and chips were in the fryer a little long....

We didn't have any beer so my review is exclusively for the food. I found the wait staff to be friendly and attentive. The prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was nice enough. After the previous reviews I was concerned about the quality of the food so we kept our order simple. I dined with two other people and we all got the hamburgers. They offered all the toppings and had nice quality buns. The waitress asked for my fries to be cooked extra crispy and they were delivered just the way I like them. I also got a side salad which had all fresh ingredients. All in all it was a solid meal.

Just bad. Service friendly but with only 1/3 filled on a Saturday night, slow and unattentive. Nachos delivered with half jar of terrible salsa poured over the top resulting in soggy slop. Burgers obviously precooked as burned outside with cardboard dry inside. Tomatoes were mushy day old and our turkey BLT served with supermarket (low) quality turkey and no bacon (announced kitchen was out 1 minute before sandwich delivered). Really??? Clearly, this innkeeper has given up. Nice location in cute village but just really bad food.

Went here on the 4th of July for beers and burgers. Ordered the Bull Run burger medium. It was definitely more like medium-well, but pretty tasty. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We sat on the small patio that's right on the street. Nice place to enjoy the weather and people-watch.

This place used to be my favorite bar in town, so coming and discovering how bad the place is run these days was a huge disappointment. I hit this place twice over the holidays of 2012, and regret it both times. First off, the cooking has lost its touch. Their hot wings use to be delicious. Now, I'd recommend you just get a bag of microwavable wings or hit up the sheets down Rt. 15 a ways. Second, the men's bathroom is disgusting. No doors on the stall. No soap. No paper towels. How can someone wash their hands in this place? I hope there is an employee bathroom, because I shudder to think that the people who work there don't wash their hands before preparing food for my parents and loved ones. They have recently expanded their taps, however, the bar tenders are slow and service is generally poor. One time I waited 15 minutes for a drink, having placed my order, only to have the bartender ignore my order, and hurry out passing shots to college kids he is cool with. I didn't feel like paying good money to be ignored, so I ended up going across the street and having a great time. I recommend you do the same.

5 of us came in around 7pm on a Saturday night. There were apparently 10 or so college boys in front of us looking for a table. The place didn't look too busy but the hostess was nowhere in sight for about 5 minutes. The boys went to a table and we were greeted with a "are you all going to be separate checks?" The "hostess" was very unfriendly and I was ready to walk out but my family members wanted to stay. Our waiter Logan was the only nice thing about our experience, and the beer selection was nice. The food, though they tried to be very accommodating seeing as many of us wanted things not quite listed on the menu was quite unpalatable. The bathroom was falling apart and dingy. It is a typical college bar I guess? I think they are trying to be better with the alcohol selection, but the food is extremely under par.

Beer selection...thumbs up! Food selection...ugh. I guess it's a pub, but does it always have to be heavy or fried??! Can we please get some decent vegetables in Lewisburg?? I ordered a bowl of soup du jour and a small house salad with oil & vinegar dressing. The soup was a turkey vegetable and it was just ok... But the house salad...a mound of lettuce, couple slices of cucumber, and a few unripened cherry tomatoes...and for the dressing she brought out those bottles of red wine vinegar and oil like they use at Subway...really?? Please add some decent "lighter fare"...because we liked the atmosphere and the live music!

The food won't knock your socks off but everything tastes fine and there was a large selection of beer. The waitress was attentive and the area near the fireplace was calm and created a nice atmosphere for dining.

True to my son's word, this place was horribly run for service. He told me it took over an hour to get a burger and it was barely occupied. We had to try it as it is supposedly THE Bucknell bar. You'd do far better for service across the street. 6 of us arrived for a drink over Parents' Weekend to find a harried woman running the door. When we asked if we could find a tv to watch Bucknell's football game she let out a strained, way overworked sound of exasperation I can only call a groan. Don't forget the rolled eyes. And no. She had no idea on whether the game was on....some Bucknell bar! We were shown a table and noticed the waiters were also the bartenders. The place was 10% filled and they kept running behind the bar to get their own orders and then ran to each of their tables. This should have been a big weekend for them but was completely understaffed. They should have had 2 bartenders. ONE to know whether the Bucknell game was on TV and the other to find it possibly? No bartender and two waiters/bartenders just shrugged their shoulders about any game. After 10 minutes of waiting at the bar and table I ran across the street to find the game on and told the staff to hold an empty table. It took me about ten minutes to leave and get back and I was worried they'd have helped our party by my return however I was not disappointed. Our party was still waiting for drinks and we all left! I gave an extra star because part of this place is food which I didn't get to try. Well, neither did I get to try a beer but I figured they couldn't ruin that....if they ever brought one.

First lets start out with them as a "Tap House". They have a decent amount of beers on tap but thats about where it ends. I don't know many tap houses that serve their beer in warm glasses and if you get another beer...they reuse the same glass and garnish. I have been to many bars in my day but the bull run is turning into more of a dive bar. A buddy and I went into the bar to go grab some drinks and some food. They used to have a lot larger menu and better items But this has changed. We both ordered burgers that were overcooked. You could taste the charcoal burnt meat. I ordered a burger chicken fingers and that was the best part because I asked for them on the side. If I wanted a good beer I had down the street to the smiling chameleon.

I raised my review from 1 to 2 stars because shortly after posting the paragraph below the waiter brought the re-made nachos. They'd been baked in the oven, with real cheese and lovely cups of all the sides. They were excellent. It was not how they intended to make them normally...so I have little hope of getting them again but I appreciated the kindness and effort that went into trying to address our disappointment. What I posted originally.... While I never found this place stellar...on my latest visit today the food is worse than ever. I mean how Do you make bad nachos! Even with meat added They Are Totally cold...when asked abut This, Server Says This Is how They are Supposed to be. At least he offered to remake them. They don't heat them anymore he says. Quesadilla...with onions and peppers stolen from a cheesesteak it seems...is beer for college students their only priority?

The service at this establishment is abysmal. Went there on a Saturday afternoon for drinks and food, which I cannot comment on because we were ignored for twenty minutes at which point we left. Will be taking my business to one of the many other fine similar restaurants in the area.

  • Andrew P.

Lets be honest, the food is outright terrible. Some of the dishes which are impossible to mess up are fine (wings, nachos), but overall the quality of the food is extremely lacking. If this establishment was in any other town (especially nowhere near a college), it would be out of business a few months in. The only reason this place is still standing is because it has a monopoly in the small town of Lewisburg right next to Bucknell University. I do think their recent renovation helped in terms of ambiance, but if half the effort that was put into that was put into the food this review may of been different. The only great thing about this place are the bartenders Dave and Allen. Oh wait, they fired Dave. Bad move, he's a great guy and an awesome bartender. I guess now the only good thing about this place is Allen.

Picked this place from all the others on Yelp and we're glad we did! Logan, behind the bar, and Lauren, our waitress, had great suggestion on what to have from the tap and the food was delicious! We'll be going back!

Food is hit and miss. Bull Run Dip, however, is the best appetizer in the area. Service often unorganized and slow. They do not prepare well for Bucknell events. Wings, burgers, sandwiches. All fairly good. Have to pay extra for fries but worth it. Avoid the pretzel sandwich. Late night isn't bad but isn't great either. Avoid open mic nights unless you like rude comedy.

This place is a good sports bar but what makes it stand out is that there is top notch Live music. The owner books 4-5 nights a week.

Business location is quite good. Located right along Market Street in Lewisburg with available parking. From reading previous reviews this is a college bar and I can definately see that. I would concider our visit yesterday to be "off season" but there were still a decent amount of people there. Seating is open with tables and booths. However the booths are quite small. Service was quite good. The draft beer selection was ok with 6-8 beers on tap. The bottle selection is extensive, 2 full pages of craft beers. I was happy with the selection. The food menu was just about the right size but close to being too large. We shared 12 wings for the appetizer and really liked those. A decent selection of wing sause. They also had a interesting burger menu that we tried. I was happy with the over all experiance and would recomend Bull Run Inn.

I attended Bucknell from 2002-2006. During my senior year, I went to trivia night almost every tuesday night. I have been to a number of different trivia nights in NYC since, and Bull Run's is still one of my favorites. As for the food, most of the wing varieties are delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed the many nights I spent at Bull Run.

I'm not a fan of Bull Run Inn. Firstly, the food is not very good. It's greasy, bland, and underwhelming. Second - the bar. First and foremost, Bull Run is this college town's go-to bar. On a weeknight, the place gets pretty full. It's difficult to get a drink. Partially because of the crowd. Partially because the bartenders are really slow. On a weekend night, the place gets PACKED. On a busy Saturday night, don't even bother. You could stand at the bar for 30 mins without so much as a glance from any of the bartenders. I realize Lewisburg only has a handful of bars. But, if I had a choice, I'd much rather go to any other one before even considering Bull Run.

Fine dining its not, but Bull Run is a classic college joint. When I'm in town visiting my son at Bucknell we end up here at least once during the visit. Food is good pub grub. Wait staff are friendly and attentive. Crowd is mainly Bucknell students but there also is a mix of locals. When I was recently in town I was at Bull Run for trivia night followed by a hot wing eating contest. Definitely had a few laughs that night.

We've frequented this restaurant before and there has been a notable decline in service and food quality. Stopped in for lunch this time, was not overly crowded. We waited 50mins for our food to arrive. The wait staff was attentive. When it finally showed up, the food was luke warm and average at best. Majority of their draft beers were unavailable due to a problem with their system. I read in another review that someone experienced the same problem. Should have been repaired by now. If you enjoy slow service and below average food, this is the place for you. Will not waste my $ here again. Plenty of other establishments in town that care about their customers and the food they send out of their kitchens.

Pretty sure wings were raw and gave me food poisoning the next day. Great beer selection though.

Definitely a college bar. One of the lighter spots in town (that I've found). The chicken fajita was delicious and the service was fast and friendly. Great beer selection.

went on a Sunday night before an open house at Bucknell. Moslty got what we expected as it is a college place, the food was very tasty...but....BUT...the service was S-L-O-W. took 20 minutes or more just to get our drinks. how hard is water and a pitcher of beer?

    (3)
  • Beth R.

Typical college bar, featuring cheap pitchers and so-so food. They were packed this weekend bc of reunion, but to be honest, they don't have much competition. When I was an undergrad, we referred to this as "the bar" because there weren't any other places that students went. This was convenient, since I was in college during the era of no cell phones, so having only one bar made it really easy to guess where your friends might be on a given night.

Good burgers, wraps, sandwiches. Have eaten here twice, good bar food. Try the sweet potato fries! Service is good

I used to looooove coming here as a freshman from Bucknell because of their school spirit and delicious bull dip! However, one day I just experienced THE most awful of awful-est service!! And I stopped going for a year or so.. They recently switched ownership to one of the deans at the University and the service is a lot better but the food is not as great as I remember. It's still great to go and hang out and support local business and be enmeshed with all the school pride... I have yet to try their bar nights! Happy Hour!!! I will update when I do...

This establishment is aimed at the students, but we still go there every now and then. They are a bar but most of their square footage is restaurant style sitting and they serve a full menu of moderate quality food. Salads are piles of iceberg lettuce etc. It is a Pepsi establishment BTW. Quiz night is fun. Establishment is clean and well run. Also consider the tavern across the street or the bar area in the Lewisburg Hotel.
