I thought this place is a lil hidden rustic gem. I had amazing crab legs here that were big, tasty, and fresh. I also liked their sides. I would def go back here for the all you can eat crab legs, friendly service, and romantic atmosphere. It wasn't cheap-( we went on a night with crab special like $25 a person), but it's great for a special occasion.

I ordered Thanksgiving dinner from the Log Cabin this year. I planned the meal with Linda via phone calls and email from across the country. She had everything ready exactly as described for my family to pick up and enjoy at home. My mother said the food was excellent and she plans to do this every year now. I have also dined at the restaurant n several occasions while in town, and the food and service have been excellent every time.

First, it's disappointing that Yelp is so under-utilized for Lancaster establishments. We live in the area and eat out often. There are some excellent restaurants in the area - Maison and The Belvedere are both outstanding. Since reopening The Log Cabin is now among our favorites. The service, presentation and food are simply outstanding. My 14 year old foodie daughter has requested that we go back for her birthday dinner this weekend and we are more than happy with her choice. Out of the way? So what...fire up the GPS and enjoy a ride through the beautiful countryside.

As far as fine dinning goes in Lancaster Pa. they should get 5 stars, I don't give out 5 stars very often. Last night New Year Eve had 8:30 reservation, they were very busy and running late, was ok met a nice man named Jim, we shared a table in the bar area. When seated our server was spot on. Our food was excellent, My wife and I have no complaints about anything. Yes we will be back again and again.

Wow this is a mess! My Brother and I took our parents to dinner at the Log Cabin for their 50th wedding anniversary hoping to enjoy a celebratory meal as we had done there in the past. The place smells old and musty (perhaps time to invest in new carpet)...so over powering that I was ready to leave and go elsewhere, now I REALLY wish we had. The server was not personable and seemed new, eh that I can live with. My father was served a piece of "ripe" steak and my sister in in-law's steak was under cooked, fouled steak in unaccpetable. When my Father raised the issue with the steak the waiter took it away, offered another selection, and said he would get Linda who I assume is the manager. The steak was removed from the check but it still had an overall impact on the meal...I am sure many of you have been there. Linda never stopped by the table and honestly it is best she didn't if the phone call she just gave me was any indication of what would have been experienced in person. After she read my Father's review on another site she reached out to me trying to locate him. Instead of apologizing for a ruined meal she was more concerned with her name being mentioned in his review and that she felt it was a personal attack on the restaurant. That was not the case...he was giving an honest account of his experience. I suggest that Linda and the rest of the Log Cabin staff take a look at themselves and address their short comings before reaching out to customers. Not only did I have to experience the disappointment of a special meal ruined my work day was interrupted with an aggravating phone call form someone that is unwilling to take any responsibility...wow just wow!

I had been here a few times under the previous owners and loved the setting. When I found out the restaurant had re-opened and had been remodeled, I was very excited to go give them a try. The restaurant is more beautiful than ever. I loved the scalop appetizer. The salmon was also very nice ( although a little dry on the ends), but it was seasoned well and the sides of corn risotto and vegetables were delicious. The service was on point, paced appropriately and very attentive. Water glasses were always full. The wait staff could be a little more friendly though. They lose a star because the dessert selection was ok. No real chocolate dessert. The only chocolate dessert was chocolate mousse that was so tiny and more appropriately served at a diner than a fine restaurant. They also had no espresso or cappuccino, which is always disappointing. Maybe it's because I am from Jersey where most restaurants (fine or otherwise) serve espresso beverages, but in my book an evening is never complete unless there is espresso.

Poor food. Very rude owner at our Christmas party that made us stop our entertainment only to put overhead Christmas music on. Will never return and I will recommend you don't either!
(1)Karen R.
Every year my grandmother and I come back here bc she wont eat anywhere else. This time around my veal scalopini needed salt and pepper. It wasnt very tender either, she loved her trout. I just expected it to be a lot better than it was. I really use to love this place. Not anymore.

The place is very quiet and exclusive in some sense. We were the only customers. Food was good. And as already known by yelp $$$ ratings, the place is expensive.

We stayed at the Twin Pine Manor Bed and Breakfast and this restaurant was highly recommended. First, the distance from the inn to the restaurant may have been easier to get to in the daylight hours but in the dark it was a bit challenging. We actually thought we had made a wrong turn because the location seemed to be in the middle of a residential block. In any event once we arrived the setting was nothing but charming. It was a bit slow for a Friday night but I guess most people in the area have dinner before 9pm. Next, with regard to the food - appetizer, escargot, was tasty! The linguine with crab in butter sauce- not so much!! I NEVER add salt to food already prepared and served and this time I had to add LOTS of salt to get some kind of flavorful taste from the dish. The afterthought was that I should have just asked for some fresh grated cheese to help add to the missing flavor. Side note - I heard the salmon was good, moist and tasty, although the rice was a bit too buttery and mushy. Lastly, I'm not a dessert person, so I didn't order dessert, but there appeared to be a nice assortment of desserts on the platter that Michael (our server) brought to the table. Would I return? Ehhh...Maybe. Oh, and the restroom was spotless!! So a star just for this!!

It's hard to say this, because my experience wasn't all that bad. I can't really point out any flaws in the execution of the food that I could see. I suppose that if I have to sum it up...it seems displaced in time. Walking in I see some strange combination of hunting lodge and historical reenactment building. Inside are oil portraits that make me feel that I'm at a museum. But the decor notwithstanding, I'll get to the heart of it: The food...while correctly prepared, seasoned and served doesn't really give the place an identity. It's as is someone set up the beginnings of an American Bistro in the middle of a cabin and then walked away. The dishes didn't tell me anything new...which is fine, except for the fact that they are priced as such. I would have even loved some throwback dishes to the early 20th century, or late 19th, and I think that would have given a unique character. In short, the food is decent, but not as memorable as they eyes of the portrait watching me eat.

Opted to go to Log Cabin for a romantic dinner when we were visitng the area. It's sort of in the middle of no where but we had a great experience. It's a dressy environment so no schlumpy clothes! Our waitress was very friendly and the service was great all around. I had the pork chop which was delicious and cooked well. It came with some delicious sides - a baked potato, green beans (my fave). We also got bread for the table - still warm and very good! My bf got the crab cakes and judging by his clean plate it was great! This seems to be one of the few dressy places for dinner in the area and I'd definitely recommend it!

Wonderful getaway dinner spot for a romantic night even for gays. I would give five stars but a disappointing end is NO ESPRESSO! Owners, Please make the investment.

First time back after the reopen. This was a big let down. Went on Feb 14 and to start the service was very slow for a half empty restrauant took forever to get drinks and ordered our meals. House salad was ok the ny strip was close to the worst steak ever. My wife had the sea bass and again ok. Sides of baked potatoes and string beans were cold. Very sad this was the place in Lancaster county for steak in the past now it is below averge with a great name of the past. Glad to see it reopen but with the service and food quality it won't be around long. Save your time and money and just go to a wedding to get the same food
(2)Bill M.
Have eaten at the Log Cabin many times 20 years ago but hadn't been back since they reopened. Service, wine list and food were all very good and the Log Cabin is probably the best steakhouse in Lancaster which is a vast wasteland for a good steak. Prices are big city levels and $5 for additional mushrooms or onions on a $36 steak is over the top. Would expect outdoor patio eating in warm weather will be the place to be and will return in the spring to try it out.

I recently visited the Log Cabin for a friend's birthday celebration and was very impressed. I had the vegetable panache, and also tried the duck, and everything was delicious. On a side note, I'm not sure why people think it is acceptable to wear jeans and shorts in a fine dining establishment. Is it really that hard to put on something nice?

Where'd the bar go? The lounge/bar area was cozy but the former bar made this place special. We were at the restaurant with two other couples, our regular dining party. We've all been here before under the former owner. First time back for wife and me. Absent was the old service excellence. None of the waitstaff smiled - not even a crack. Except for a waiter in the bar who joked about the cocktail I ordered - Hendricks Gibson. He related it to Jimmy Hendrix and his Gibson guitar. Clever. We shared appetizers - cheese board, calamari was fair and bland, roasted red beets that I swear were out of a can. I had the lamb chops and they were ok. Wife had salmon on capellini and she said it was very good. A few filets were reported to be good. Sea bass excellent. But baked potatoes were not hot. Wine list is one page and we had two excellent reds - one was the malbec and the other was the cabernet-caymus vineyards. Maybe it was an off-night for the restaurant but I felt no warmth. And since there were 6 of us (only 6), they took the initiative to include the gratuity in the check! I want to rate this 3 stars-A OK, but it wasn't.

I had not been to the Log Cabin in years so I was excited to have thanksgiving dinner with my family there. My mom had thanksgiving dinner there under the old management years ago as well, so she too was excited for this special meal. They didnot have a pre fixe menu which is fine; I understand that some people want something other than turkey and mashed potatoes for thanksgiving dinner. But I thinkthey should have gone with a pre fixe menu because our meal took about 2.5 hours before it was all said and done. The restaurant was not full by any means, only a few large groups for the holiday. If they were short-staffed, it would have been in their favor to have fewer options available. Our appetizers came after a reasonable amount of time but then our salads came 10-15 minutes after completely finishing our appetizers. Then our server waited until the last person finished their entire salad to start clearing and bringing our entrees which in turn was another 15 minutes. The plates were very hot which I assumed to be from sitting under heat lamps (I used to work in the biz). I just could not believe how long each course took to arrive. We all agreed that the food was quite good (minus he fact that my salmon was served quinoa instead of pasta like the menu stated and was way too buttery). I just would have liked to have the service sped up a bit. I lose my appetite if I have to sit for that long.
(2)Alison A.
I'm giving it 3 stars because their grey goose cosmos are the best I've ever had but their food is mediocre at best, and I've dined here more than 3 times and each food experience was not so stellar. Definitely way over priced for canned crab with avocado appetizer and the salmon I had was so greasy and overdone. The duck I've had in the past was decent, if you want a GREAT fine dining experience, go to John J Jefferies.
(3)Alicia D.
My dad took me and my boyfriend to the Log Cabin for my birthday dinner. It was all divine! We tried the Filet Minon, Veal, Scallops and Crab Cakes...all were excellent. They even do a sweet mashed potato which is mashed potatoes and mashed sweet potatoes mixed together, I don't like sweet potatoes but it was such a delicate mix, they were very good. I could have used more veggies with the meal but what I had was perfectly cooked. The only downsides are that it is pretty dark and the service was a little slow (and they were not busy). I would definitely go back...would just need my tax return to do it :)
(4)joseph w.
Great atmosphere, superb service and disappointing food. Rib eye tasted like a so-so sirloin, dessert was nothing special. Next time I make special plans for guests, I will look elsewhere.

Over a covered bridge and then up the big hill, we arrived at the log cabin. they stuck the six of us in this really cozy room upstairs - extremely quiet except for some spoiled toddler across the way - one of them yuppy toddlers. All service was very professional and the waiter was informed and his presence gave our little room a serene equanimity. my sister in law didn't like her appetizer of calamari because she just couldn't get over that it iwas squid. Squid served in a bowl too, never saw that before but man, it was the best darn squid i ever had. My chilean sea bass was beyond great. My wife's crab cakes really good, Other's had filet mignon, chicken breast with mushrooms - all fabulous. My brother in law's NY strip was tasty but tough. I had piece and had to chew for like 5 minutes. His jaws were aching. he shoulda sent it back but he's a pastor out west and just too nice of a guy. Coffee was just okay. It was fresh but they need to up the ante on the quality. Nice spacious bathroom upstairs so you didn't have to traipse all over the place. Had an unusual painting of some naked people on the wall - kinda like Leroy Nieman doing nudes. Plus, i like the toilet paper holder - one them free standing ones you can move around - I like being able to adjust things to my needs in the bathroom. Gotta little cold in our room for my wife so i had to take my shirt off (i had two shirts on) and give it to her. Fortunately for all concerned, her legs weren't cold. but really just a wonderful place, with a myriad of rooms, excellent service and great food - would love return soon as long as my brother in law- the non pastor one - pays again. But maybe the pastor could pay next time. we'll let him pray before the meal so he can then put it on the church's tab and call it an outreach ministry.

Have been dining at the Log Cabin since the early 60's. This gem was the best steakhouse west of Philadelphia for many years until it closed and the owner retired a number of years ago. That was a sad day. The good news is that the cabin has reopened under new ownership and I can say emphatically that the Log Cabin is succeeding in maintaining the reputation of its predecessors. I recently hosted a wedding rehearsal dinner for our son for 64 invited guests. In spite of the rather large crowd, the staff exceeded our expectations. The meals were outstanding and the service was first rate. Thank you all for a very memorable evening.

Just had to cancel reservations for me, my 87 year old father and 86 year old mother due to torrential rain. Instead of "thanks for calling" or "come see us another time" the woman who answered the phone hung up on me in mid sentence. Wow.
(1)Brian M.
Shocked that this exists, in the middle of a residential neighborhood, not really near anything. But the experience was good! A bit pricey and my porterhouse was over salted, but my wife's scallops were devine. Definitely going back.
(4)Adam C.
Very pricey but very worth it. Excellent service and great food. A very nice place for a special occasion. Had scallops, steak, lambchops, chicken all out of site.

I went here for a work dinner last week and all aspects were great. The drive in has to be one of the coolest parts, where else do you take a windy back road, turn on to a residential street and find a cozy restaurant at the end? Very unique, and it allow for awesome views once inside. The building was very old and interesting, each room was decorated differently. The tavern/bar area was a great place to have a drink before dinner. They had a great selection of wine and specialty cocktails. We had almost every appetizer on the menu and they were all delicious. Specifically the trout, the crab, the shrimp and the cheese plate. Even the bread they bake in house was awesome. For dinner I had a crab linguini - great flavor and a very hearty portion. This isn't a place where they charge a fortune for bite size portions. We were a table of 8 and everyone else was raving about their meals also. Very attentive service all night. Never an empty glass. We had an assortment of desserts also - must try their PB ball! I will definitely be back. This is a great hidden gem for the Lancaster area.

By far, one the of the best restaurants in Lancaster County. A little out of the way, but so worth it. The decor, as you guessed it, is that of log cabin home. A very large home with an amazing patio to dine on. They have great rooms that seat 8-12 comfortably to afford you a little privacy. The food is amazing, and although the service is a little slow, it makes you pause, reflect, and engage the company you keep. Great location for a romantic dinner for two!

Poor food. Very rude owner at our Christmas party that made us stop our entertainment only to put overhead Christmas music on. Will never return and I will recommend you don't either!
