Great food BUT - Terrible because of the manager Scott! He should be fired immediately. After ordering three shots for my friends it tasted watered down. Asked for the manager and Scott came out and said there were no other bottles to compare. Then after saying there is another bar down stairs he miraculously came up with a bottle. When we laughed because the colors were far off he said to not come back again. As a manager I want them to fix a problem, not say don't come back because they made a mistake. The servers told us the manager Scott is terrible and they were right. It's unfortunate he ruined such a great spot for us.

Fantastic wings! I had my doubts about this place but we sat on the back patio and it was an awesome place and our waitress was very kind and helpful. Only compliant is the inside bar downstairs stinks like a urinal. I hope they can fix that.

No complaints! Caught their Monday burger special $6.50 for just about any burger on the menu. We were impressed with the burgers, they were cooked well, and very tasty. We also loved our fries with Old Bay!

Comfy, usual PJs. Had dinner with 7 adults and 3 little ones. Food is good enough. 3 stars for being unremarkable.

For this area, this place is really good casual, homey, and very affordable. 4 of us were seated quickly we had reservations for friday night at 530. I had the California burger with a few personal tweaks. They got it right and our server Tammy was very friendly and honest when we asked about suggestions off the menu. She always checked on our meals making sure we were good. My wife had the salmon and loved it. My mom had the prime rib and it was average. Ask the wait staff what they recommend! Tammy was very patient with my mom who couldn't make up her mind on what to drink let alone eat lol!

Our server Erin was fantastic. Nachos and wings were good. The food came fairly quickly but as others have mentioned, the steaks that were ordered, NY Strip, were a lil overcooked, hence tough, and definitely NOT seasoned AT ALL, which was very disappointing. But overall good experience so we will be back! To the chef..Salt is your friend!!

Our food was just like and PJ's we ever ate at so no problem there. Our waitress was one of the worst we ever had. She only came by to take our order and give us our check. While refilling other customers and checking up on them my family never received a refill or an inquiry of our food. After sitting and waiting for our check for a long while after we finished we left with the host sitting at the bar and yelling have a good night while playing in his phone. Sorry we won't be back I can spend my money in better places.

Perfect...just what the Dr. Ordered. Was traveling for work and just wanted something to eat and a beer or two. Read the reviews here and made a beeline to Platz's, took a seat at the bar, had a burger, a few beers and chatted with some nice folks. Nice people, good food and friendly service.

We eat at the bar Monday, and some Saturday and Sunday evenings.. You can't beat the regular customers and the bartenders here. The food good also but the atmosphere is incredible.

Service was great! The waitress was very kind! Our food came out extremely quick and Dinner was delicious ! And the peanut butter pie with whipped cream and chocolate was amazing! They even turned on the tv an turned it up for us so we could watch our favorite show and enjoy dinner! I would deff refer this place to anyone looking for a quality meal and great service with a smile "rocky" was great!

Great wings and decently priced. Upstairs reeked a bit of clam chowder but wasn't so off putting that we didn't enjoy our meal. Wings were crispy and tangy, and the beer cheese pretzel bites were very tasty. Will definitely be making repeat visits to explore the menu further.

Great Thursday night special 8 oz prime rib done perfectly with baked potato or fries and salad or soup. Salad was crisp & fresh, blue cheese dressing really good. Had fresh horseradish plus a creamy one too. Had to wait at front to be acknowledged for 10 mins, but place warm & comfortable. Upstairs is a covered outdoor eating area. Waitress was not overly friendly, others were as they walked by, so made up for ours. About 3 blocks from country Inn & Suites, they said food was great & they weren't wrong. Mon night special is burger & fries for 6.50. A good deal too. Many burgers were served at nearby tables, huge & good looking.

To start the staff was great and friendly! Now, the food and beer selection was lacking. I had the loaded zitty hard to mess up. I should have stayed in and made a lean cuisine and put a slice of cheese on top of it (defiantly would have tasted better)! Beer wise I guess I'm not that big on Bud and such. Not really a pub! The building was nice! Good luck to all that enter.

Sad really. Evidently a big party upstairs so maybe that's why everything was subpar... Salad was beyond limp. The lettuce wilted. Even the croutons were soggy, where they stuck on fork tines and I had to hand yank them off as I wasn't putting mushy croutons in my mouth. When offered fresh ground pepper I said yes and was given the oversize pepper shaker on the edge of my table. As soon as I touched it, I realized how many other sticky hands had been there before me. Yuck. The prime rib was tender, but without flavor. The horseradish sauce very liquid and again without any flavor or desired bite. The bread was cold, and again without merit. The baked potato was the highlight.... but it was prime rib night and price was right. But $13 (no drinks, desert or tip in that figure) at a pizza place would have been a better investment. The waitress was attentive but only showed up when I had food in my mouth and could only nod. Just sad really.
(2)Cory D.
I am a pretty smart guy however when walking into the place, I wasn't sure where to go! So I left! I sat at the bar and nothing was said! However I always give a place a second time/chance!
(5)Anne Z.
Food was overpriced, greasy and salty. Waitress was lazy and forgot about us. We sat there for 30 min waiting for the check. I'm 99% sure my whiskey sour only had sour mix and lacked any whiskey. The water tasted foul and made my niece sick! What a waste of time and money. To make it worse, it was my birthday so to have such a crap meal on a special day really added the suck to this sucky restaurant.
(2)Ashley B.
After a terrible experience down the road at another restaurant, we were greeted by the manager at the front door. Server was attentive and quick. Food was delicious. Everyone was happy!
(4)Dennis Y.
We were looking for a great burger and beer after completing the Black Bear Triathlon and PJs fit the bill perfectly, We sat outside wh was awesome. The food and service were great.
(4)Keith B.
Stopped in on a Friday night to watch the hockey playoffs. Sat at the bar and had drinks. Atmosphere was nice. The next day we came to watch the Kentucky Derby. Mint Juleps special and Mexican beer. Juleps were good. I had the bacon blue burger with the old bay fries. Outstanding! My love had the chili. We really like this place. Will be back.
(5)Brit D.
This place is just plain old great. Food is simple and delicious. If you go here you absolutely have to try the buffalo shrimp and wings. They are the only place that I know of that does the buffalo shrimp. So good!
(5)Terry M.
Pjs is haunted you can smell the ghost and in the boys bathroom somebody went in and came out and said who did it because the lights turned off but nobody did it! But my mom works there so I have to like pjs and because she is the best bar tender so pjs is ausome!

If you're a local, you'll always call it "Platz's"... In my humble opinion, this place fell down for a while... food, service and value took a dip as it transitioned to this new concept, but i'm thrilled to say they've found their footing and "Platz's is back baby!!!" Don't get me wrong, this is not fine dining, but it's really good, tasty food prepared well, served by a friendly staff, and the value is back in the menu... Their burgers and wings are some of the very best you'll find in the area... and they carry a nice selection of beers including their own private labeled brew that's really quite good!!! They have nightly food & beer specials that are incredible values... a half price wing night, a $5 burger night, etc... We were most recently there on a Thursday evening and they had a "Prime Rib Special"... A nice portion of Prime Rib, served with a salad, bread basket and baked potato for $9.99, and it was really good!!! A pint of their PJ's beer was on special for $2.50!!! My wife and i had salads, and nice prime rib platters with baked potatoes, and a couple of pints of craft brew, and got out of there for $30 including the 18% tip... that's a value that's hard to beat!!! Their outside patio has a really nice ambience with a bar and fireplace and they often have entertainment out there... I now forgive you guys for what you did to one of my favorite places, and i'm happy to say "you've won me back!!!" good job!!!

What a great find after a full day of Skiing at Blue Mt. There were very few options for dining around the ski resort and we were cold, tired, and had a long drive back to South Jersey! We asked some locals where to stop and they suggested we try PJ's. We are familiar with the name since we have been to the Cherry Hill, Washington Twp, and the original in Haddon Twp, so we called over and made a reservation for 8. We arrived....parking not so great so we dropped our 84 yr old mom and kids at the door and then hubby parked the car. We were immediately seated band was playing in the bar area and waitress was super helpful and enthusiastic! Everyone had great drinks brought promptly and the fried clams were really good! The vegetable soup warmed us all up and then we were promptly served our meals.. Burgers, salads, wraps, crab cakes, and grilled chicken were all a big hit! The caramel salted cake on the special menu was exceptional! I would defnately return to this location in the future...the only complaint I would have is we were in a back corner because of the size of our party and it was very cold. It was a very cold day and we could have just been chilled to the bones from skiing!

We came to Jim Thorpe for white water rafting. After our rafting excursion, we were ready to have dinner. We chose PJ Whelihan's and below is what we discovered... Pros: Nearby our hotel, Country Inns and suites. The decor is intriguing They have good beer specials. They have parking and outdoor seating but book early for outdoor seating. CONS: They served cold coffee and forgot to brink cream even after we asked to have some brought to our table. Philly cheesesteak nachos were extremely salty Fries tasted like they we're re-fried. The attentiveness of the service staff was not up to par. All in all, this is a quick semi-decent meal worth it's value.

I completely get why people like this place. If you want wings and a Miller Lite, this is your spot. The kid's spaghetti and meatballs was good. Portion sizes are reasonable. Prices are fair. The service is great. The atmosphere (other than horrid pop music) was lively biut not too loud. The problem arises if you want a vegetable (sides are fries, mashed potato or rice) or anything other than meat. Everything is pure why-America-is-so-fat. i had broiled pure crab crabcakes - they really were all crab and the flavor was great except they were swimming in butter - why? The cocktail sauce was lime katsup. And the beer selection is awful. So, go for it if you want good bar food at a good price with outstanding service. Otherwise stear clear.

good food ,, quick service.. will stop by next trip to the WOOD's

Come on platz you charge for bleu cheese and celery and can't split an order of 25 wings and 25 shrimp with different sauces. This is getting a little ridiculous with not let the customer order what they want when we are a paying customer. How hard is it to mix shrimp and chicken seperTely. This is the last time I visit this restaurant. I thought when I came back to pa we only charged extra for being an idiot. Well at this place can I charge u for ur stupid sop's. Thanks for everything and making it a quick decision of never coming back here.
(1)Mongrul H.
I'm throwing my hat into the ring of "Platz's rocks" You can't go wrong here. If your staying at the Country Inn right off of the toll road (or anywhere else nearby) , you should not miss the opportunity to go to Platz's. (you could walk...but don't, unless you want to get run over) Great service, friendly, good grub. What else do you need?? Why 3 stars? I only got carry-out, so I'll have to go back for the real deal. (ok, I'm being picky....I can't honestly rate with carry out) You have to experience this place. It's great. I'll be back and will update.

Over the years, I used to love Platz's for a good steak or the prime rib or some good appetizers. However, they have a new menu and I believe new management with PJ Wellhans. The food is just not very good. Everything seems pre-made like the frozen, pre-made food you can buy at Sam's Warehouse. It's edible and passable but I buy this stuff at Sam's. It's not what I want at a restaurant. A hamburger and a beer is the only safe item worth ordering. Everything else is overpriced and just not very good quality. Curiously, the place seems busier than ever. I don't get it.
(1)Jason K.
we come here once a year on vacation.. it will always be Platz's Restaurant in our mind: the servers, staff & food, regardless of name change, is consistently awesome.. love the boneless buffalo nuggets (signature sauce, personally) and their signature baked ziti special! excellent service & food!

Came here for lunch with a few friends. It wasn't crowded at all, and we were seated right away. The server was friendly, and she greeted us right away and took our drink order, then the meal order afterward. A moment or two goes by, and salad is served, along with bread. Not too bad. The salads were ok. Nothing to write home about, but not bad either. The meals came out soon after. I ordered a bison burger. It was so-so at best. I had good bison before, but I don't think this was it. There wasn't any real flavor, and the worst part was that my bun was soggy after a while. Meanwhile, one my friends got scallops, so I decided to taste one, and it was good. This was my first time here, so maybe my expectations on the burger were too high. The prices weren't too bad. And we got good service. I just left wanting a little more.

The PJs in south jersey are much better. Service was not that good. The building is cool. Old bar feel but the location is strange. It's multi level and there is a nice back deck for outdoor seating. I guess it was mostly the service that wasn't great
(3)Augie B.
Two stars is a gift simply because the food was OK. Waited five minutes at the hostess station just to get seated and there wasn't twenty people in the place. Waitress wasn't friendly and service was poor and slow. Looked liked the regulars are smart enough to eat at the bar

Hot and Honey Wings. Enough said!

It hurts to give this restaurant two stars. I adore the old building, the vintage decorations and the old, ornate bar on the second floor. I used to frequent this restaurant for the food and the atmosphere. I live two hours away, so obviously I thought it was delicious enough just to road trip for dinner. Those were the days when the restaurant was still under the Platz's name. Now that Pj whelihan's took over, everything has gone downhill. It went from the homey, local chill spot, to an over crowded, run of the mill chain restaurant. The staff overlooked me while I waited to get seated, the waitress brought our food and never came back, and I had to park all the way at the back of the lot. I didn't even know there was parking back there! Sadly, I don't think I'll be coming here anymore...unless the old owners suddenly decide they want to take over and ::poof!:: make everything all better.

Well I am new to town here, and I am exploring what the Lehigh Valley has to offer me. One of the first places we went to was Platz's. I must say, I was impressed. We rolled in on a Monday and it was $3 22oz Copper Lager night. Me being a beer guy, never hearing of said Copper Lager, I had no option but to try this beverage hopping for a good ending.....it was good. Moving on to the food. The web site boasts wicked wings, my fiance and I being the wing lovers we are...... we didn't get the wings. I know, what was I thinking. But we ate a ton of wings before we moved, so we were not in the mood. So we both went with parm meals. Me Chicken Parm, her Veal Parm. Both meals were great! I was really impressed with the food. Being new to town, and having my own favorite places back home, I was skeptical. But that all melted away. The only complaint I had was the garlic bread was a little hard. But that was the way they make it, just not how I like it. Other than that the meal was great, good service, and pretty cheap! Getting out of there for $35 with tip, was pretty dang good. The price was right, the food was great and the ambiance was pretty good too. We will be back again to try the wings. Platz's gets The Meepers Seal of Approval! I wanted to update this review really quick. I have stopped in here for dinner on several occasions, and brought visiting friends in. Pltaz'z has yet to disappoint. In fact, I think we are going to dinner here again this week.

This is a sister restaurant of PJ Weilihans, a regional chain of places in southeastern PA and souther NJ......they have pretty much same menu (and same Copper Lager) as the chain. The food is pretty good and very reasonable for what you get. I had the cheese steak for $5.99 and could barely finish it......wings are excellent, but go on a Tuesday because it's 1/2 price. Essentially.....the menu is filled with "pub" style food (go figure) but at a pretty fair price as mentioned. Service was on the slow side for a Monday night.......but there seemed to be a fair amount of people...they probably weren't expecting the turnout of customers (not really a good excuse though). All in all.....I'd go back in a heartbeat if I were up that way. Enjoyable for sure.

Now it is called PJ Wheelahan's at Platz's. This is an unfortunate downgrade. Before being bought by PJ Wheelahan's, Platz's would have been 4 stars. I have to go with my gut, literally, on this one. The menu has been streamlined into a one page bar menu. The quality has taken a hit as well. If you go, you have to get into the mind set that you are ordering off of a bar menu. What do you order at a bar? A burger and wings. That is what they do well here now. Don't stray too far from that rule and you will do fine. (The less fancy, the better)
(2)Randall G.
Have eaten here several times.. food is always good. Good place for dinner when we are camping @ The Woods campground and don't feel like making dinner.
(4)Darius P.
Good food, lousy service! We sat on the patio and it was pretty busy. 15 minutes after being seated we stopped a waitress and asked if we could place our drink orders. Prior to that, she did not once even acknowledge our presence during the many times she passed our table. We placed our food order when we ordered our drinks (6:30pm). The appetizers came out about 1/2 hour later. When we got them, people started walking out because they weren't getting service. It took about 2 hours after our appetizers to get our food. I finally asked the manager about our food and it came out 20 minutes later. To add insult to injury they started cleaning up and stacking chairs just when we started eating. We sat down at 6:30 and did not get out until 9:15. It's a shame the service was so bad because the food was pretty good (or maybe we thought it was because we were starving). The manager comped us a round of what we were drinking: iced-tea.
(2)David R.
Decent food for the family. Prices are not too bad but their salad plates are always too cold.
(3)Dan H.
Very nice home town pub. We had the famous chicken wings and the fried shrimp tossed in the wing sauce. The wings were meaty and very well done but the shrimp had a lot of breading which was unnecessary. I would love to go back again for a luncheon entree!
(3)Y S.
Excellent wings and burgers. Some of the best I've ever had. The service is also friendly, attentive and fast. I highly recommend this place if you're in the area. You won't be disappointed!
(4)Glenn T.
A great place to meet friends and celebrate special ocasions. large bar, friendly service and great food. the decor is unusual and has tidbits of everything in it. The wings are great as well as anything on the menu. My parents live nearby and it is a frequent stopping place for me. It is also a great place to meet before seeing a show at Penn's Peak.
(4)Angela R.
Never again!! We used to go to Platz's all the time and the food was excellent. About 2 weeks ago we decided to go and try it out since it is now PJ 's. The food was terrible as well as the service. They screwed up our order and the waitress was extremely rude. Thinking it might have just been an off day this weekend we ordered wings for take-out, they were nothing like they used to be. Being a large order of 50+ wings I asked for a pint of bleu cheese, I get in the car to realize they gave 2 small containers(not even enough to put on a small salad) I went back in to tell them and the hostess replied that is what you ordered(obviously she didn't finish high school because there is a big difference between a pint and 2 little 2 ounce containers). So she went and got me the pint I originally asked for then charged me for it in addition to charging me for the small containers I didn't order. This place has definately went to the dogs. No even worse I wouldn't feed my dog their food.
