This is my favorite restaurant in the area. I have never had a bad meal here. Everything is fresh, farm to table, food. Great wine selections and nice atmosphere.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. A delightful, not so hidden gem, in Downtown Leechburg. High end for an old steel town, we'll be back. oh...the desserts...worth the trip alone

Decent food. Great atmosphere. But... tuna was blackened but too salty. Salads were awesome and other foods were excellent. I love what has been done to the place. Hopefully, this can be the start of a new revitalized Leechburg. Ashley was friendly and helpful.

Huge portions, excellent service. The chef, Buzz picks his own mushrooms for a delicious wild mushroom soup. The only thing keeping my rating from five stars was a few bones in my walleye. Hands down best dining in the kiski area.

Food was different and delicious. Service was courteous and accommodating. And the band playing that night was great. A wonderful fine dining experience.

Love this place. Though a bit of a jaunt from the city, it's well worth it. the space is gorgeous, the food is always yummy and as much of it is as local as they can get. When they open the hotel, this will be a great friday or saturday trip as an overnight.

I visited Twisted Thistle recently when I took my best friend for lunch here before her wedding day. I've been to Leechburg a handful of times and I must say that I was impressed with this place. While it stands out as a great, small-town eatery, it holds its' own amongst restaurants in general. I had the crabcake sandwich. It was very good, but kind of loose and difficult to manage on the bun. The fries were great and the service was pretty good, too. All of the ingredients (I believe) are somewhat local and fresh. It's truly a gem in a place that could use it!

Wow the times sure have changed in Leechburg----growing up this location was Leo's and the smell of fish permeated the alley as all the high school kids walked to the head shop or local bakery. It used to be an old dated well-worn hotel---and all the locals would patronize the restaurant for the infamous fish sandwiches. WHAT A TRANSFORMATION!!! This has converted into a gorgeous space full of dim lighting, exposed brick walls, wood accents, and a chef's menu---I met up with some wonderful friends from back in the day for cocktails and we did have to sit in the table that was between the bar and restaurant area because the live music they had that night was just too loud to really enjoy and partake of any conversation. The service was friendly and efficient. I sampled several cocktails and had no complaints....which is pretty good considering i'm kind of a cocktail bitch with high expectations when it comes to my drinks...good job bartender!

Being local in the area, I'm so glad that we have such a delicious restaurant in the area! We've been here many times: for birthdays, Valentine's Day, a wedding dinner, and have visited for the live music and have never been disappointed. Service is always prompt, polite, and accommodating. We have even went with our little one: they have a nice kids menu. I really enjoy the salmon: it is done differently than other restaurants: somewhat fried with a teriyaki glaze. I really love the dragon noodles as well: I personally didn't care for it with the shrimp, but the veggie noodles are fabulous! Steaks are always good and the chicken and waffles can feed you for 2 days! Drinks are always good! Decent beer selection and deserts are an absolute must!!! Decor is rustic and so well done! Certainly do recommend this gem!

Love their food, atmosphere, and the help. Michael O'Shansky is one of the finest chefs in Pittsburgh and we have him in Leechburg. We love the place. As one of the former Chefs of 1844 this is now the first choice. Terry K.

What a great find! Right from the road, the remodeled building is enticing and cozy looking. The decor inside is really eclectic, but in a way that works well. We were greeted by the friendly hosted and shown to our table pretty quickly for a very busy Saturday night. All of the servers seemed very nice and accommodating, if a bit scattered at times. The food here is definitely the star though, and I'm sure the rest will be sorted out in time (after all, it hasn't been open very long at all). We ordered salads and a couple of appetizers (the salads were all delicious and the appetizers were tasty). For entrees, a highlight was the chicken and biscuits with tarragon cream sauce. A-MAZE-ING! Everyone enjoyed what they ordered, but it was agreed that the Asian-inspired dishes were a bit less successful than the creative American options. Deserts were all lovely and made in-house. I recommend the lemon cake! Prices were reasonable and the beer selection was interesting. One little hint to the manager - my pinot grigio was awfully room temperature, I probably would have ordered more if it had been chilled! All in all, a great place and definitely worth the drive from wherever in the area you may be!

Food is a step or two above most other places in the area. Have tried this place 5 times and for the most part the food was good. Steaks and short rib My problem has been with servers who sometimes seem to not know the menu and keep coming back to double check what you ordered and they forgot to write down. Have had a couple of wrong orders served to us because of this which we usually accept anyway. Once again I have been to this place and the food was fine but the service can be an issue.

Unfortunately, we went when the chef was working the restaurant's wedding venue. The food was so so and of the four of us, one dish had to be sent back and remade (Chicken was so tough, the knife couldn't cut through it). My steak was ok, but the cut potatoes served where so over cooked and dry, I couldn't eat them. Other dishes ordered were also unfinished. My advise: Ask if the chef is there. If not, go to Ponderosa and save a hundred bucks. Tastes about the same.

Best restaurant in the area. Gracious hostess, excellent waitress, simple but well planned menu. Superb house-made desserts. Clean, pleasant atmosphere. Enjoy a good lunch or dinner here.

A real find in Leechburg, the crab cakes were wonderful, better then Luna's and a better price. The restaurant is beautiful and the spacious, the staff is friendly and attentive. I will be coming here regularly.

I took my seven year old daughter here. She is a real foodie. We had the pig wings which were delicious. For entrees, I had the chicken and bisquits and she had the pasta off of the children's menu. The bread we got with the meal did not seem fresh and our service was extremely slow but the the ambiance is absolutely beautiful and unique. Our table was right next to a lit fireplace. I wouldn't mind going back sometime and trying one of the thai inspired offerings.

Driving thru we found this via Yelp. The food was creative and delicious! Everyone was pleased with their choices... Duck, crabcakes and shrooms. The service was excellent! We will definitely make a trip back.

Had another amazing meal at The Twisted Thistle! Charcuterie- Had the pick 6, the soprasetta was so gooood! My sister loved the Port Salut cheese. Crab cakes- moist, sweet, beautiful Chicken Marsala- marsala sauce was delicious, large portion, even the veggie side was great Butternut Squash Ravioli- was substituted for asparagus ravioli and my husband devoured it and cleaned the sauce on his plate with bread! I think the chef gets it! So lucky that this place is in my town!

The ambiance was nice. Sort of has an old rustic feel that gave a nice setting. The staff was pretty decent. This is what the group had Twisted thistle salad-nothing special. Spring mix, celery, sunflower seeds, raisins and the like. It sounded better than it was, but ok. Wild Mushrooms-was a special of the day. A mix of shrooms with bread. They had a seasoned olive oil that made the dish good. Soaking the bread in it before adding the shrooms made a nice mix of flavors. Coconut shrimp-very tasty. Large shrimp in a tempura coating and covered in a duck sauce with red chili. The only downside was that the coconut was a tad burned Filet-cooked very nicely at a medium rare and covered in a Gorgonzola sauce. I was very happy with it. Chicken and waffles-this was the main strike of the night. The breeding just fell off. When the chicken was lifted, the breaking under just peeled off. I wondered if the chicken was pre cooked and then breaded? This too was burned a bit. Their cooking oil may be too hot. In their defense, management was great. They apologized, didn't charge it in the bill (of course), and then offered a free dessert which was not necessary, but very appreciated. Walnut cake-very tasty. The icing was silky smooth and the cake was delicious. Overall, a decent experience. I think I'd go back, but for the prices and the food quality, I can think of other places I'd go first.

Recently tried this place for the first time. Amazing food and choices and extremely friendly staff. Try the chicken and biscuits! It's French style and made with a rich tarragon cream sauce. The biscuit is flakey and melts in your mouth. The Romano chicken was also unusually good. We had a taco appetizer that was out of this world like nothing you've ever tasted before! Lastly, excellent wine choices reasonably priced. I came in from Pgh and will definitely be back with friends despite the distance.
