Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

The buffalo chicken cheesesteak is phenomenal!
(4)Nate D.
I tried Ray's for the first time today. I had a buffalo chicken cheesesteak with blue cheese. It was incredible. The roll was very fresh, service was reasonable (about 10 minutes for takeout). This place is very busy at lunch time. I would definitely recommend calling ahead if you are getting your order to-go. This place won best the Reader's Choice awards in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008. What more can I say?
(5)Ted C.
Totally awesome cheesteaks!!! They are LARGE too. We mistakenly ordered two large and came to find that each was enough to feed 2-3 people. They each measured 17 inches long!
(5)Mark A.
I am a native Philadelphian who found out about this place because my mom moved near here. There are a lot of GREAT cheese steak joints in the Philly area (and NOT a lot of even good ones elsewhere, sigh!)...but IMHO Ray's cheese steak hoagies (with provolone and lotsa hot peppers and mayo) are the absolute BEST anywhere, bar none. I have some difficulty understanding how these folks stay in business...their cheesesteaks are not only fabulous but also just plain enormous! Another reviewer pointed out that this place won first prize for the last 7 out of 8 years running...this does not surprise me at all, Philadelphians know a great thing, especially when they taste it.
(5)Dan S.
Ray's makes really good cheese steaks. The pizza, stromboli's, etc are decent - but not great. I've never eaten in the restaurant, always just take out. They usually have things ready within 20 minutes for pickup. My wife ordered the corn beef special, and said it was surprisingly good.
(4)Ange E.
I have been going to Ray's for years and I don't think I will ever go back, not because of the food, but because of the customer service. Whoever they recruit to work here have attitude problems and very unorganized. This business needs some more positive people working in this establishment and some organization. The steaks are great but the people are fake!
(1)Scott H.
I wanted to like Ray's since they sponsored my baseball team back in the day. I ordered cheesesteaks a few times. The first was no good, but I thought it could have been a fluke. By the third one, I concluded their cheesesteaks are weak and the rolls aren't hearty.
(2)heather b.
Ray's really is one of the absolute best places to get cheese steaks in the area. I love Geno's, but I'd probably almost always choose Ray's. They have a great variety of food & it's all just as amazing as the cheese steaks.
(5)Mike R.
With all due respect to Tony Luke's, Geno's, etc, Ray's has the best cheese steaks in the Delaware Valley (blasphemy!). I am serious! Every time I visit my parents, I make the pilgrimage to get a fat chicken cheese steak. They also have "large", which would probably take 2 drunk college kids to finish at 2am.... huge.
(5)Al R.
Best cheesesteaks in the greater Philly area, large, stuffed with meat and cheese, always on a great roll and the price is outstanding. Hoagies are also much better than just about anywhere else with the same outstanding value for the price. Pizza is average but the value for the money is as good as the sandwiches. If you order take out, be prepared to wait a few minutes, even if you call in the order ahead, because this place is a mob scene on busy nights. But the staff is efficient and not unfriendly. Eat in service is efficient and fast but you come here for the food not the atmosphere.
(4)Gracie N.
The Philly cheesesteak is absolutely the best in all of Philly hands down! I have yet to try other items other than the cheesesteak and pizza. I also want to give this place 5 stars because I left my debit card on the counter by mistake and walked off to CVS and the cook who heard me say I was going to CVS personally came and handed the card to me at the pharmacy. Great sandwhichs and honesty served: best of both worlds! BTW, their serving portions are huge so be prepared!
(5)Wallee W.
I'm going to put this in CAPS and up front because it's the central point in this review: RAY'S HAS THE BEST CHEESESTEAK IN ALL OF PHILLY. BOOM. Seriously, I will argue that their steaks are better than Pat's and Geno's (tastier and with 100% less indigestion), better than Tony Luke's, better than Jim's (on South St), better than any other steak I've had in the city. When we have friends or family come visit, when they want a good cheesesteak, we drive here. Period. Bonus points: Their pizza and subs are pretty good too. But don't get those dude, get a steak. Seriously.
(5)Bob L.
Ordered a white pizza, it was terrible. Rubbery cheap tasting cheese on a sorry exuse for a crust. Wife ordered the cheesesteak, not nearly as good as Vinny's Pizza in hatfield. People rating this place need to get out more often, worst food we had in a long time.
(2)David L.
Pizza's good, but the cheesesteaks are simply amazing. They give the "best of Philly" a run for their money and easily beat out some of the traditional contenders for that title. Admittedly, a Pat's or Gino's steak has an allure and a style all its own, but to be frank, these are just as good in a different way. Real american cheese melted into the core of a pile of succulent thin-sliced steak or chicken, wrapped in one of the best steak rolls I've ever found (luckily I also know exactly where those come from) makes for an amazing steak, every time. The restaurant itself is unprepossessing, just a normal pizza joint; a dozen tables, rock-hard chairs, scratched-up metal plates, and bottles of condiments in little caddies... but that facade happens to hide one of the Philadelphia region's hidden gems. If, for some reason, you ever find yourself near Lansdale, Ray's is well worth a detour to pick up a steak on the run; it'll only take fifteen minutes from the time you call or walk in the door.
(5)Debbie Y.
Let me preface this review by saying that I've never been to Ray's and I've never even been to Philly. BUT a good friend from Philly did bring me back a vacuum sealed and frozen Philly cheesesteak from Ray's! I was so excited to try a real Philly cheesesteak sandwich from Philly and so here I was ... indulging in a one quarter piece of an 18-inch long microwave heated sandwich. I am not a big meat eater, but I made an exception for this unique experience. The meat and cheese was so rich and just melts in your mouth after every bite. The onions and tomato sauce was a great complement to its creamy opposition. The bread was not great due to the vacuum sealing, freezing, and reheating process, but I really didn't care. Everything else in the sandwich was so tasty that bread or no bread really didn't matter. I gotta say, I think I am forever ruined on Philly cheesesteaks anywhere outside of Philly LOL! I guess I gotta go to Philly myself one day and visit Ray's on my own.
(5)Stephen W.
Was in town on vacation and had to have my ray's cheese steak. Always amazing!
(5)Amy H.
Great cheesesteaks in the area, BUT the service is poor Takeout attitude makes me feel as if I am inconveniencing them. Packaging soup is a major challenge for them since the container explodes in a paper bag in my car. If the food weren't so good, I would never go back. I get takeout since the hard fastfood seating is awful. Go for the steaks and take them home!
(4)William R.
I used to drive a route from Trevose to Quakertown and hit Rays pretty frequently. In all of my visits I can't remember being disappointed. Cheesesteaks are great, chicken cheesesteaks are even better and the buffalo chicken cheesesteaks, well, they almost had me licking the wax paper, the plastic basket and table for remnants of that delicious masterpiece. It's in strip mall that's fairly convenient to the turnpike and 309. Its got plenty of parking and enough room on the side by the drug store, that you can easily hide a truck. ;-)

Was out in Lansdale for a free concert in the park and needed to grab some food so we reached out to Yelp for recommendations and were happy to find Rays. This spot has won "Best Cheesesteak" something like the last 25 years in a row and there's a reason why. Lean beef. Nice roll. Delicious house made peppers. Fried onions. Provolone cheese. My girlfriend loved the sandwich and the bite I took was great. I tried their personal size pizza with half pepperoni. It was a good pie. Fresh made crust. Tomatoey tasting sauce( not sweet which I dislike). Gooey Cheese. It's clean. Friendly staff that takes pride in what they do. Easy to find in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Wished we lived closer by so we could go there again. Highly recommend it.
(4)Mark J.
Dining Date July 1, 2015 for lunch. Ray's is a go-to place for great cheese steaks in Lansdale. Loaded with meat with any topping you want. Staff is friendly and fast. Best cheese steaks outside of Philly.
(4)Barb M.
Worst wings ever. Sandwiches we're disappointed most of the reviews said how good his place is. The fries were greasy. Don't think we will go there again
(1)Lee B.
We have been going here for years and every time we visit the Cheese steaks are always the Bomb ! The staff are always friendly I love you cheese steaks
(5)K A.
We are from out of town. The delivery driver delivered our family sized order to our hotel with a smile on his face. He was super friendly. The food was great. Garlic cheese bread and the cheesesteak with mozzarella are a must!
(5)Jim R.
I've been coming to Ray's for sometime now. If you like your cheesesteaks loaded up this is the place to be. The best experience I have is bringing friends here that only feel the city is where you can get the good stuff. They always leave with plans to come back soon.
(5)Nick D.
Very good cheesesteak! Loaded inside! Back home from Florida this past week and was too busy to run to Philly for a cheesesteak, Rays filled the bill with a quality sandwich I'll be back!
(5)Stephen B.
Sandwiches are thrown together. Pizza is most definitely frozen dough and tastes like the box it came in. 0/5 . If you're doing pizza do franks in Lansdale for sure.
(1)Neen P.
My husband and I just moved to the area from Philly, so our cheesesteak standards are high. After looking at the reviews on yelp we decided to give rays a try, and boy and I glad we did! We weren't sure if they delivered to our area so I called my order in. When I went to pick it up I asked if they delivered to us. I explained my husband has cancer and tends to order delivery when I am working. He plugged in our address and overrode the system because we are right outside the delivery area. That's aces in my book and that reason alone would lead me to recommend them...but on to the food... Hubs got a pepperoni cheesesteak with pickles. No sauce no onions. The meat was perfectly chopped and cooked and the sandwich stuffed to the gills! He said its one of the best steaks he has ever had! Thanks for helping to make my philly guy happy!
(4)J W.
Got a tip to go here from a coworker. Got some cheesesteaks and a hoagie. Steaks were great, almost as good as Pudges in Blue Bell. Hoagie was good as well. Wait was about 20 mins on a Friday.
(5)Jen K.
All I can say is "holy cow." Ordered delivery and it was fast. The wings have amazing flavor, the cheesesteak was BRIMMING with meat, the pizza was delicious. So glad to have found my new favorite pizza place!
(5)Jason L.
Moved to area and found this spot on yelp. After reading all the good reviews about their steaks, wife and I had to stop in. Walked in, girl at the counter greeted us with "you eating here or takeout?" Told her we're eating in and sat ourselves down and waited for the waitress. Wife ordered a small buffalo cheese steak and I ordered a cheese steak with fried onion and hot peppers, fries and a drink. Food came out and I see red sauce on my steak. I shouldve said something since I didnt request it but whatever, I was hungry. Steak was average at best. Being from Philly, Johns Roast Pork, Jims and Delasandros are at the top of my list of steaks. Pudges is the best in the lansdale area. One thing that really bothered me was that the girl at the counter started to cleaning the rug mat which was in front of the counter. I wouldnt have minded if she wasnt kicking the dirt toward our table. Wife and I are were like wtf. Me being a nice person, i didnt say anything but i found that really annoying but its common sense to not clean the floors/rugs while PEOPLE ARE STILL EATING! Doubt I'll be back and I wont recommend this spot either.
(1)Robert B.
We called our order in using the Yelp application. We ordered a large half pepperoni half mushroom pizza and had it ready for pick up. I arrived 15 minutes later and the pizza was ready and waiting. The total for the pizza was $16 and change, and I paid and was in and out in less than five minutes. The pizza was delicious. The pepperoni was nice and crisp but not too hard. The mushroom were cooked perfectly! The cheese was melted but not burning the roof of your mouth. And the sauce had a lot of flavor but not too much sauce on the pizza, which I like. The crust was crisp and the inside was nice and chewy, but not soggy. Also there was not a lot of grease on the pizza. Great pizza from a business I would go to again. I recommend their food.
(4)Jon M.
Ray's was delicious for a small, local pizza place. I had a cheese steak with sauce, onions, and mushrooms with a side of cheddar cheese fries. The cheese steak was one of the best I've eaten outside of the City of Philadelphia (Jim's and Pat's are my top favorites). Meat was perfectly chopped in the Philly cheese steak style. Perfect amount of toppings. Everything was very fresh too. The fries were also real tasty. My only complaint was that the food was a tad salty. I found myself going for my drink (Coke products) more than usual. The atmosphere is typical for a local pizzeria: wooden tables with chairs, tile floor, TV on in the background. There were an extraordinary amount of flies inside the restaurant which was kinda gross. Wait staff was attentive and the food came out pretty fast (about 15 minutes from order time to food at the table) and was piping hot. I give Ray's 4 stars for good food, excellent service, and freshness. The only reason they lost a star was the saltiness and the amount of flies inside the restaurant.
(4)Jim D.
I don't understand all the positive reviews. I went out of my way to try this place and: 1) pizza is mediocre at best, 2) was fly infested, & 3) the counter is for "take out/pick up" only, yet after "dining"'they tell you to pay at the counter? I'm confused... The one thing I will give it was that the hostess/waitress was very polite and accommodating.
(1)Nicole T.
Mediocre at best.. Ordered a buffalo chicken cheesesteak, wasn't very good- soggy. Staff was pretty nice though
(2)Emily C.
Friendly servers, good food, very clean and something for everybody.
(4)Angie K.
There's a reason for everyone pointing out the cheesesteaks here. Ray's has the best cheesesteak out of all others I've tried in Philly...by a long shot. Not even close. A steak at $8 may seem steep at first glance, but get one at Jim's or Tony Luke's and you'll understand. The taste is unparalleled. Call ahead because this place is always packed.
(5)Erica W.
ATTENTION! This place is not good! I really wanted to like it! Went there twice. Had the steaks, fries, and pizza. The food is not quality. Fries are tasteless and not crispy. Pizza is a disaster. Crust is lackluster. Sauce is nonexistent and dull cheese is scarce and somehow it's still greasy. I don't understand why everyone likes their cheesesteaks. They are no good. Being from the Philadelphia area and having a chef in my family I know good pizza and steaks and this is extremely disappointing. There are so many amazing places in this area to get these things. The wait time is also longer than normal and the service is fair. Pick any other now!
(1)Jake C.
Small place in a strip mall. Pizza and wings are good. But the cheesesteak was the least favorite. The cheesesteak was still very good, but I've had better.
(4)Gerald F.
The best. Can't say more. I have learned to love the RAYSteak. It is sweet, juicy, BIG, and always flavorful. Just stand outside at 10 AM and you'll agree. But, the steak tastes as good as it smells. NEVER any grissel, fat, burnt pieces, or dry chunks. This place rocks for food. A gold standard in my humble opinion. But hey, only been eating the best steak sandwiches in philly for over 50 years.
(5)T S.
Good steaks. Ok pizza. Ok salads. Not so great burger. Good club sandwiches and turkey hoagies. Get the chicken parm meal - it's tasty and a great value! Salad and garlic bread come with. Folks are always friendly and efficient.
(4)Derek H.
Best buffalo chicken cheesesteaks I have ever had. You can get a ten-inch at such a good price, and well worth it as well. The sauce. The cheese. The bread. The steak. It is all perfection. I would eat one every day if I could. Only downfall, be prepared to spend a few dollars more on a beverage or a side if you're ordering take out and paying with a card; minimum $10 purchase to use credit/debit card.
(5)Teresa H.
This review is for pizza and fries only. The two stars are for the cheese fries...yum! The pizza however, not good at all! I hear this is a great place for a steak and it just may be! Just grab pizza somewhere else! This place is also a bit pricy.
(2)Sony R.
My chicken was raw. Bloody raw. It was completely uncooked. Never having anything from here again. That's a definite health hazard. Watch out for the chicken here..
(1)Dave W.
Forget about Pat's or Gino's. Jim's is pretty good, Ishkabibbles ain't half shabby and you may even settle for one of Italian Delight's steaks... but if you really want a cheesesteak that will make you thankful you mother birthed you... you need to go to Ray's! The bread is fresh, the cheese pleasantly potent and most importantly the meat is seasoned just right and cooked to perfection. In conclusion, put down that cheese-FAKE...Do the right thing and make the right choice...go to Ray's!
(5)B L.
Great pizza and menu items!!! But in my own opinion the cheesesteaks are below standard. The service here is great and the workers do there best to ensure you have a great experience. Can get a tad crowded and with limited space it might take a minute to get a table. To add on the takeout customers are always standing over tables if it's crowded. Needless to say though this place is a good eatery aside from some minor flaws.
(3)Beeg R.
Good food. Good service. My little one loves the spaghetti and meatball. Usually kid's pasta isn't that great at restaurants, but at Ray's, it isdelicious. The meatball is moist and not dry. Of course, you must try the cheese steak. It is nearly as good as Sonny's and Pat's in Philly. Wings are juicy. But be careful in getting the insane version; it is made with ghost peppers. I haven't found truly spicy wings anywhere else, but these are SPICY!!! Italian wedding soup is delicious too. Please note that if you want to SIT DOWN, do NOT order from the counter. It can be confusing and there is a sign by the door letting you know about that, but that sign is always facing the wrong way. Just sit down and the waitress will come over.
(5)Brandon M.
Ray's is known for their cheesesteaks, but their pizza is good as well. It was surprisingly filling, and it's not clear why it is, but the taste is solid and it reheats extremely well if you've got leftovers. Good pizza.
(4)J J.
Today, my brother and sister-in-law attempted to order cheese steaks. Unfortunately, someone who appeared to be the employee's adolescent daughter kept uttering, "KONICHIWA" (multiple times) within earshot. Yes, they are Asian, but are not Japanese. This made them so uncomfortable, they cancelled their order and left the restaurant. I recommend the owners to maintain a more respectful dining environment and respect your customers regardless of race and culture. I'm not supporting this business and would suggest the owner of Ray's to teach some hard lessons about diversity and basic rules of etiquette.
(1)Justin F.
Terrible Sicilian, horrid service, asinine rules. After a long day and night of traveling with kids, we stopped at Rays because it was on our way home. I ordered some slices of Sicilian for me & my daughters (5 & 3). I got a bottle of juice from the fridge and when I asked for two cups with lids I was told I would have to pay FULL SODA PRICE for each paper cup. Really? The woman coldly told me "Those are the rules" (cue crying thirsty toddlers). I informed her that that is the most ridiculous rule I've ever heard. I could see charging $0.25 or something but how could Ray be so greedy? 28 seconds later we have cranberry juice on our clothes (more crying). When we bit into our Sicilian it was like nothing I've ever tasted. Imagine a giant, soggy, oily crouton covered in yellow wax and you'll almost get a picture of how bad this pizza is. My kids couldn't even take more than a couple of bites - after begging for pizza for 50 miles. They may have good steaks, as others have said, but I will never find out since wild horses couldn't drag me back to Ray's Pizza. Oh, and If anyone owns a restaurant supply store go see Ray, since he clearly has no idea how much he should be paying for paper cups, lids, or straws.
(1)Frank S.
Excellent cheese steaks that are huge &'loaded with meat.
(4)Angela K.
Good Pizza! My husband and I were pleasantly surprised! We've been regulars ever since. Our favorite is the white pizza. The crust is pretty close to perfect. Their classic cheese pizza is excellent too. My husband shared it with coworkers for lunch recently and everyone was raving.
(4)mike y.
Not the best cheesesteak but the best in the area
(4)Jeff B.
My hometown cheesesteak and honestly if it wasn't this good I wouldn't give it 5 stars. I've had most of them. Pudge's, Delasandro's, John's, Jim's, Pat's & Geno's and this one still stays up there. Good roll, good meat and decent service. Why is this the only place in the world i still order Sprite? "Plain Cheesesteak w/ a Large Sprite" everytime....
(5)Gary P.
I live in Tennessee and when I visit the area, I always bring a cooler to Ray's and stock it with cheesesteaks to bring back to my friends who NEED to know what a great cheesesteak tastes like. Much better than Pat's and Gino's. So much meat! And cheese!
(5)Todd O.
Really good cheesesteaks right in the heart of Lansdale. Whenever I'm up North I head to Rays and grab a steak. I honestly think its one of the best around.
(4)Esther O.
Disappointed. WORST SERVICE EVER. Was first time here. Didn't know that you had to be waited on to have a seat at a table. So we went to counter to order. ( like most pizza places). Then when they call us to give us just a part of our food order-- they tell us to take our food and leave. (??? Wth) wouldn't let us eat there just cause we ordered at counter. Fine, whatever. Then the old lady at counter told us we could wait at a table atleast till food order was completed, so we waited. A MINUTE later she goes and gets some guy to come over and tell us to leave again! seriously?? unbelievable. So we left. Didn't even take our food. Lost our appetite. Never going there ever. Don't go there unless you want terrible service and a lame atmosphere. First negative review, but I had to write it cause she really was out of line.
(1)Jose R.
I really don't understand when some of these reviews compare there steaks as good as Tony Luke's ,Pats and Gino's That is a total Joke .Ray's Steaks are just plain ok .
(3)maureen h.
Rays has the best cheese steak in the area. Its packed with meat.
(5)
