Someone told me this place was good! Went today and the 1st thing I noticed was how gaudy this diner was. Gold flowers, ugly floor. It was kind of dirty too. The tables had graffiti on them, and some of the staff was rude. To top it all off they have the NERVE to charge $3.25 for a what they call a "salad bar". They had about 5 items 3 dressings, and stale breads. I wouldn't come back here. So I am still looking for a decent diner in this area, and its safe to say BFD is not the diner I am looking for.

I cannot understand how anyone could serve such vile food and stay in business. Everything tastes like hospital cafeteria food. The chicken soup looked decent, but had an awful acrid taste to it. The slice of marble cake was so dry it had almost turned to dust. A patron at another table had ordered a chicken dinner, which came with what looked like a pot of glue. Seems like it was gravy. Most of his food was torn apart and left behind. Yuk! The service was pleasant, but that's about it.

We were craving Greek food today so not wanting to drive far in the rain we ended up at the Blue Fountain diner. After we were seated an arguement with eff words were screaming back and forth between a waitress and a family.Since they were leaving we unfortunately stayed. We ordered 2 Greek combos and a mediterranean wrap. Our food was terrible.Dry over, cooked moussaka, leather strips of gyro meat with a wilted gray salad bar.The owner reached behind my head to place a menu sign without acknowledging I was there.Rude! The waitress dropped part of hubby's meal and brought the lost part out as we were finishing and to top the afternoon off rain poured into the airconditioning vent and splattered water near our table.Gross!

This is our favorite breakfast spot in the area. There is a well sheltered non-smoking section (which you can't always find in diners) and friendly service. I've tried nearly everything on the breakfast menu and have always been pleased. I have not eaten here for lunch or dinner - but that's just diners are for breakfast in my book :)

I ate here once recently, after remembering liking the place when I was a kid. The food was disgusting. I have an iron stomach and can tolerate a lot of things, but this place is just gross. My chicken sandwich consisted of a frozen, obviously processed, chicken patty and some limp lettuce, while the veggies were so over cooked that an infant could safely eat them. I know that most restaurant food is, in fact, prepackaged and reheated, but even U.S. Foods makes stuff better than what this place serves.

Not a bad little diner. Prices are very reasonable. Service is quick and courteous.

I understand that the blue fountain is now under new ownership. However, I don't think I've ever had breakfast so poorly made at any dine as I experienced at the blue fountain. Everything was cold yet overcooked. Service very slow and when we order a glass of juice you get a half a glass of juice. . For many years the blue fountain was known for a fast hot and delicious breakfast however that is no longer the case. Do yourself a favor and go someplace else! I get the feeling the new owners have no idea how to run a restaurant. Very very disappointing!

Ok for a diner but we have had better. Menu options were solid and the service was friendly, if inconsistent.

The blue fountain is a gem for the seniors of the area, but not for young people. And, you know what? That's not a bad thing! Everyone has their own flavors and preferences and Blue Fountain just happens to cater to an older crowd. The food isn't wonderful for me, but they have good prices and free bread. I prefer Great American down the street, personally, but I support all locally owned businesses!

First time dining in. Specifically went to dine in because of the salad bar and the requirements to eat in to eat from it. Guess what? It's under construction. When my mother and I walked in I asked if we could look at the salad bar. The owner seemed annoyed and said it was under construction. We then looked at the special board which said Sunday, today is, Saturday. We asked if these were today's specials and annoyed again he said this was a typo. We were tired, hungry, just figured we would stay and give it a shot. We had a great server. The booth tables were nice. I got a chicken parm panini. It was very good but was not pressed. It came with matzoh ball soup that was delicious and perfectly seasoned. I attached a picture. Generous and tasty portion along with fries. My mother got a burger. She does not eat bread and asked for it to be served with lettuce as a bun and it was prepared perfectly. For dessert I attempted to use a Yelp check in offer for a free slice of any dessert. I was told I could only have jello, ice cream, or pudding. This is a place that advertises baking on premises. You can not have a slice of anything I was offered. I didn't want to deal with the owner that we saw coming in so I just passed. I'm giving this place three stars because of the horrible feeling you get when you come and go. You must pay at the register and deal with the owner. Honestly he sat with his friends at table next to us with his friends only getting up to greet and take money from customers. I think this guy really needs to be kept away from the door. If he wasn't there I would have upend this to 4 stars. He's lucky to have such great employees and cooks!

went here last weekend to meet up with some old friends, my meal was pancakes, sausage, oj and unsweetened ice tea, the waitress was a bit daffy, maybe too sleepy or not interested in job, there are new owners here and I never heard of a short stack of pancakes were only 2, not the normal 3, prices were lower than before but the quanity and quality has suffered

I been reading some of the Yelp reviews of late, about blue fountain Diner. And seen it is under new ownership. So this morning I desided to give it a try and see what has improved. Alot has. I notice the inside was done over. Looks nice, spotless, the seating is comfortable, the booths by the front window are perfect, Great view. The menu has a many breakfast choices to choose from. I Tryed the French toast. Was good. Had a buttery taste to them. And side of bacon, that had a crisp to it. Coffee was good. Just think the cups could have been a little bit bigger. Not big deal. When walking in make sure to look to the left you will see the specials of the day. I was happy with the seating, got taking a.s.a.p. The waitress was nice, very pleasant to speak with, the service was okay. I will be coming back hear again for Breakfast. I recommend this place if you want a good breakfast!!!

The diner is under new ownership and there have been lots of recent improvements: renovations, lighting, flat panel TVs playing the news, xfinity wifi available (not free, but you can log in with your xfinity user info). Luckily most of the wait staff are the familiar friendly faces. That brings me to the food - New breakfast specials! Today we tried the berry stuffed French toast (not too sweet), chicken fried steak with sausage gravy (savory and peppery) and a side of grits (smooth and buttery). All awesome and a refreshing break from the tried and true breakfast menu. They also had banana filled crepes and biscuits with sausage gravy (guess those will have to wait for the next Sunday breakfast visit). It's hard to embrace change, but as a regular counter guy I got to keep my favorite waitress Maureen, fresh ground and brewed coffee, and friendly attentive conversation. Then, like me, I recommend trying some of the new: news, wifi, and specials that have great flavors and the creativity of an eager new management team and kitchen chef.

My last review in 2011 was for the previous owners and was for an awful meal. When I saw there were new owners I decided to stop in for lunch today. It was well after lunch time and there were a modest number of people inside.I was greeted by a friendly waitress who seated me at one of her tables. I wasn't sure what I wanted and didn't want to order too much since I was unsure of the food. I decided on French onion soup since it was bitter cold outside and a diet soda with lemon & a glass of water. I often note that this seems to be a test of a decent server, since often they forget the water and/or lemon. No problems today. The soup came blazing hot with lots of crusty cheese. The soup was thicker and richer than most onion soups but with delicious flavor. When asked about the soup I complimented the server that often soup is served luke warm. I decided to have a sandwich and ordered a BLT which is another test of a diner. Often they are cold with a modest amount of bacon. There was a very generous amount of bacon on the nicely done sandwich. Although fried were not listed, very good batter fries were served along with delicious cole slaw and a pickle. I took most of this home. As I was eating my sandwich a server from a nearby table passed by and noticed I needed more soda. She asked what was in my glass & returned promptly with a refill. I've never had that happen in a diner & complimented her & at checkout I told her boss. It's time for folks to go back to the Blue Fountain & give it a try! I'll be back for other menu items in the near future.

Food was great and the service was excellent!!! Constantly checking on is and making sure our food was good or if we needed anything. I ordered the eggs Benedict and corned beef hash. I always order this dish for breakfast and these guys were just as good!

Stopped in for lunch. Was warned it wasn't the best diner around but we were very pleased with the food and the service. Try the French Onion soup...it's the real deal. This place was everything a diner should be. Will be back for sure.

Before moving away from the Levittown area, I grew up with this place. And when I am traveling back to the area, I always make a stop here. The food itself is typical diner food. There are a few good, unique items that can be a treat, but nothing that I would go for all the time. I like a classic club and iced tea for my meal. But the cheesecake is what I go for all the time. Still one of the best cheesecakes I have ever had. I like the old school look and feel, people that work there are always top notch in service.

Decent food in a standard "diner" building. Service is substandard. I had to ask for a refill of my coffee. Third cup is extra I think. Bathrooms are poorly maintained. The water temperature is scalding. No reason to come back.

I was refused entrance to this diner with my service dog unless I produced "papers" for the service dog. By ADA and DOJ federal law there are no "papers" required for a service dog. I tried to politely explain this to the manager who stood in front of the door and refused my entering until I gave papers. I decided to leave and returned to my car very shaken up. This manager came to my car, banged on my windshield and yelled to get off the property and he was calling 911. A complaint will be filed with the ADA. A very upsetting experience.

The OJ is watered down. The place mat had sugar on it , a clear indication that I was not the first person to sit there this morning. The coffee was OK. I stopped there because the sign said' under new management' ...I would avoid this place.

I love this place. Chocolate milk and creamed chipped beef for breakfast every time. Other breakfast options look great too but I wouldn't know because I get the same thing every time! Not the cheapest breakfast in town, but it's never disappointed.

  • Jeanne T.

Food ok messed up order several times. New owners are keeping up Lions and other charity givings from the previous owners that they didn't earn. This in my book is unacceptable

This was an average diner with average food. Place seemed like it could use a lil TLC. Waitress was nice but a lil scattered. Adding the bland salad bar to the meal was 5.55. Lemonade tasted like water. Kids enjoyed the food and my veggie burger was pretty good.

So I stopped into the diner for a quick bite while my car was at the dealer. It was a typical diner experience the food was good and I was impressed they had turkey sausage as an option on the menu. The waitress was nice and attentive. As far as diners go I probably will go back

Your basic classic New Jersey diner. Classic omlets or anything else diners serve. Service was attentive and the onions with potatos are a must.

This place is horrible. Waitress was rude and never checked on how we liked our food. My breakfast came with 2 pieces bacon, 2 pieces sausage and home firs. The waitress took it upon her self to give me three sausage instead because she thought I would like them better than bacon. The homefries were mushy and had raw onion on them. Then the waitress put everything on the check at al la carte prices! My meal was a special where it was all one price. Guess they were trying to make extra money that day. Ridiculous!

I got the chicken shish kabobs. It was dry chicken with no flavor on some rice pilaf with 2 tiny chunks of feta. The service was incredibly slow which seemed strange since the place was nearly empty. It is absolutely filthy. After eating I went into the restroom and was shocked at how dirty that was. It made me very nervous to think that the restaurant and restrooms were so dirty, I can only imagine the condition of the kitchen. It reminded me of one of those restaurant makeover shows where they go in the kitchen and shut the place down!

Food is great. Waitress was terrible! We went there for breakfast. Waitress stood 6' away looking at her phone and yelled "Do you want any drinks? ". Couldn't tell if she was speaking to us or not. Finally came over, took our order with a huge attitude problem. Food came, we ate. She came pronto with the check and made a grabbing motion for me to give her my plate. She needs to go!

This would get 3 stars for breakfast. It's cheap, the food comes quick, and the waitresses are nice and attentive, but they don't have cheddar cheese?!?! So they get docked a star. I wanted the sunrise omelet which comes with asparagus and cheddar. Luckily the waitress informed me that they don't actually have cheddar, they use cheese whiz. Now cheese whiz has its place, but not on my breakfast.

This is one of the worst diners I have ever been to in my entire life. The menu is pretty pathetic, the service staff can be rude, and the food is god-awful. I did not have just one bad experience here, but multiple--to the point where I never intend on ever going back. One time I went with friends and ordered just a milkshake. The idiot waitress brought me a tiny cup of milk. When I nicely said I had asked for a milkshake, she told me that's what it was, and then made me pay 3+ dollars for the mini-cup of milk, even when I suggested that it was not what I ordered and did not want it. I usually never get argumentative with any server, because they handle my food--but this place is ridiculous! Half the time they are out of the major ingredients to most things on their menu. Oh, and their Rubens are disgusting!! Go anywhere else in the area!!

I went here and had an open-faced turkey sandwich... the sort of thing a diner should be good at. Unfortunately, the gravy looked and tasted like Elmer's glue and I ended the night feeling sick to my stomach. I haven't been here since and nothing about it makes me want to change that. Oh yeah... it's kinda cheap.

Blue Fountain Diner: an icon diner for decades on US1 in Bucks County. Longtime owner "Gus" throws in the towel to sell the business and retire. Best wishes Gus, we'll miss you. So now it is the beginning of March 2014, the BFD has new owners; Charlie and Tuba. I have been a good, long-time customer of BFD, until just now. I was given a $30 gift certificate for Christmas. I used it last Friday, bringing the total down to $20.51, and again today. Tuba, a new 1/2 owner took the gift certificate away telling me it was now no good and to take cookies home with me instead. I was no mood to begin an argument over $6.00. It's not that 6 bucks will break my bank, it is the principle, and the good ethical way of running a business, why they have just lost me as a customer! If the new owners are willing to gamble losing long time customers, than I fear for the employees who work there! :( :( :(

  • Jon L.

The BFD is one of those great old diners scattered along American highways. Blue Fountain is a living monument to half-a-century of three a.m. philosophizing (over French toast and bacon, of course). In high school, I used to play with a band on Fridays at little venue a few miles past the BFD on Old Lincoln Highway. Worn out from repacking our van at the end of the night, we would always unwind over a gyro or an omelet or sometimes even a shrimp cocktail. The milkshakes are pretty good. But with a diner like this, it's hard to say if there's really anything good about the food and atmosphere of if, perhaps, its just nostalgia that keeps you going back.

had a fried flounder sandwich and cole slaw here for an early diner about 10 days ago. Admittedly it was cold out and I was starving. Food seemed fine to me and I got a lunch out of it Mon due to the large portion. Salad bar did not look great to me but boyfriend was all over it and I tasted his dolmados- lemony and nice! Chocolate cake I got for desert was fresh. We had a really friendly quick waitress but the place was not crowded at about 4:30 on a Sunday.

The breakfast here is fantastic with good coffee also. I have been in for dinner and late night food also which is very good. Their gyro's, burgers and fries are excellent. My service has always been excellent whether they were busy or not. The dinner specials are definitely something to look into but save room for dessert. Plenty of homemade specialties to make you want to say UMMMM.

It's been about eight months or so since I've last been to this place and about 3 years since I first went; these past two times will truly be my last times I go to the BFD. The first time I went to the BFD, the issue wasn't me but was an issue with my friend. He had a hair in his soup, so he tells the waitress. The waitress in her own words replies to my friend "why don't you just pick it out?" That sums up my first experience. I figure I would give this place another shot a couple of YEARS later and take my girlfriend. So, I went for the second time expecting good service and food after all these years. I did not get either. The waitress rolled her eyes and grunted after I placed my large order. The cream chipped beef honestly tasted like glue and the eggs were okay. They're eggs, how can they taste bad? If they're overcooked I guess. I really disliked this place which is why I wrote a decently long review of the BFD. Maybe it was just a coincidence I had crappy service? I figured the managers hiring the waitresses I had would have caught on to their inconsiderate acts. Nope. Haha! If you want good service, honestly, eat at the Great American Diner. It's on the same road as the BFD and is worth going there over the BFD, trust me.
