Dingy. Dark. Stinky. Yuck.

The outdoor seating and spacious dining experience is a needed atmosphere in Lancaster. The food is good with healthy options for fit patrons. However, the staff rolls their eyes at you and are quite rude for a Sunday afternoon. The bar was not packed, but the bartenders would chat with one another and not attend to the patrons. It took ten minutes to get a check after I asked. I would suggest not eating here if you are in a rush or want to be treated like a human being.

Great place to hang out when the weather is nice. The inside is very nice as well, but the outside is the place to be. Great food, good drinks, good service. Can't really say anything bad about this place. If you haven't been, you probably should.

Nothing to brag about. Service was slow, and it wasn't very crowded. And the wings were very dried out. Cheese steak wasn't bad, but it didn't "wow" me. Don't get me wrong. It wasn't the worst place I've been to, but I don't think I would go out of my way to come back.

Went here for wing night with a group of friends. The entire restaurant was fairly empty, but I suppose this is understandable on a Tuesday night during a snowstorm. The wings themselves were amazing, fried just right and coated in an original sauce. If you are a spicy food aficionado like myself, opt for the suicide wings. They are very spicy, yet manage to be flavorful. My main issues with this place is that the food took entirely to long to come out and that when there wasn't money in the jukebox, there was no music.

I've read the reviews about this place and I will have to disagree on a few things. I've been coming here for many years and it has been for the most part, very pleasant. I will have to tell you that I have eaten at pretty much all the well known restaurants in Lancaster. When I lived there, I ate out pretty much everyday. Tobias now has a very nice outside patio. Very nice to sit outside and eat dinner. As far as the complaint about the place smelling a little funky and being dark. It is considered a little nicer of a restaurant so the lights will not be on full blast and I don't really think they are set too dark either. This place hands down has the best clams in town. They are large and 8/10 times very clean and taste awesome washed down with a beer or cocktail. The salads are very good and the wings are decent too. Sure they are a little more pricey but your not eating at a diner either. Down side... I just absolutely hate the trivia night. I don't know if they still do it or not but if they still do, find out the night and avoid it like the plague. The guy that does the trivia is so obnoxious. He cranks his volume so loud and if you dare to ask him to please turn it down, he turns it up higher. When I was unfortunate enough to be there the one night, the owner had to tell him to turn it down. The reason I know this guy has issues is that he has been fired from other bars for doing the exact same thing and people complained about him so much the owners got rid of him. OK, sorry, back to the food! Yes they do have frog legs! I would have to say that I would not recommend them. I have had a lot better frog legs elsewhere. They are not bad, they are just OK. I really cannot comment on happy hour specials because to be honest, I really do not pay attention to drink specials. I just order whatever I want to drink at the time. I hope this review helps clear some things up. It really is not a bad place to go with a date or a group of people.

one of our Favorite places to eat in Lancaster The Owners always make sure we are welcomed. Love the food its a nice mix of Bar Pub food and fine dining

Although I do believe that the food is very good, I have to agree with prior reviews that discuss service. Every time I have eaten at Tobias Frog the service has been almost nonexistent. The main concern that I have is that most of these times have been at times when the restaurant was not full. Therefore, if you are hungry for good food and have ALOT of time, go to the "Frog".

Tobias S. Frogg, or as my family refers to it, "The Frogg", is a nice local place somewhere between casual and fancy. It really is what you make of it. We go there about every other week and usually get sandwiches. They have a very good tenderloin tip sandwich. They have an extensive menu though, from more extravagant steaks and surf and turf meals, to sandwiches and salads. I'd say the food isn't the best you'll find but definitely adequate, but the range and the atmosphere is such that it is a good option for getting together with friends casually. They have a bar and a patio for when the weather is warmer and seems to be a decent hang-out for daters and socializers that are in their late 20s-late 30s. They have karaoke, raw bar and other features different days of the week.

If you're interested in trying amphibian, their signature frog legs are delicious. They are very well seasoned and perfectly fried, so while the texture was not to my liking they tasted quite good. Everything else we had was decent. The most mediocre thing I had was the fish tacos, which were par for the course and somewhat uninspired. The zucchini medallions came with a tasty dipping sauce and were just thick enough to still resemble an actual vegetable. The fries were tasty and well cooked, and their mac and cheese, which I only had a few bites of, was phenomenal. They use real cheese and it shows. It's so nice to have a non-processed mac and cheese when many establishments opt for something that obviously comes from a box. The restaurant itself is set up a bit weirdly, and I was sat in a back room with very little traffic and somewhat loud music. I can tell that when warm weather hits the place to go here is the patio, which seems to be a signature part of their identity. It's a bit expensive but this is an interesting place to check out.

Was at the frog this afternoon with a friend the service was very good and the food was great, thank you for service Joy.

Went here to meet up with some local friends while in town for the weekend. The service was very good, the waitress was very good about making sure we were taken care of without hovering. She even brought me a sample of their soup of the day to try before ordering, an unprecedented experience for me. I was not very hungry, so I just got the potato soup. It was different, and better than, any potato soup I've ever had before. I highly recommend it. My companions were likewise very satisfied with their food.
(5)Amanda S.
The food is somewhat pricey and not that great. It's mainly about the atmosphere outside, and that is that they seem to have going for them. The hostess was not very pleasant and service was just ok. If you want to enjoy their outside patio and have a few drinks then this is a good place to go.
(3)Noelle E.
Don't trust their servers or bartenders with a credit card charge will tell you one charge when you return home you see an extra amount taken. Buffalo shrimp are good though just bring cash.
(3)Bryan K.
Awesome food and service! The staff is great, never have to wait for anything! Tobias is a definite frequent stop for everyone.

This place is fantastic! I was sitting next to Rebecca f. and witnessed her "ordeal". Both bartenders did their best to make her happy but there was no satisfying her. She was being ridiculous. Very friendly bartenders and servers.

I've been coming here for years. The lunch specials are great. I truly appreciate the healthier options on the menu. The bar area is very light with lots of windows overlooking the great patio area. And outside you'll find sofas with firepits, bar with misters and a waterfall. Great place in warm weather.

Just ok. Nice place to go when it's not mobbed, nice atmosphere and good service. Went the other night when we were stricken with Cabin Fever--was a toss up but is right down the road, Had only been there once before with friends for drinks over a year ago. Didn't choose other places we like since figured they'd be crowded with sports fans, since there was abig game on. A bit overpriced... $9 for a dz wings is a little high--but they at least include celery and bleu cheese (unlike other places that bilk you by tacking on a buck or so for each). But $5 for a bottle of Corona's absolutely "a bit much." Also not sure what we ate, but my partner and I were both not feeling well the day after... All we had was a couple of bottled beers (aforementioned $5 Coronas) and an order of wings each, so can't blame it on the usual culprit of dirty beer taps... But our tummies know that something was "off"--either the bleu cheese, celery, or wings (or the oil they were cooked in?). Wings were ok--asked for "nice and crispy"--well some of them were, but others were not crispy at all. Ordered my favorite, teriyaki, which came very dry with barely a hint of teriyaki flavor. My companion's Buffalo style were better. Next time it'll be Lucky Dog or Mick's for us.

This place has a very nice outdoor experience. The service is good. We brought our 4 kids and the had a good time. The food was not great however. Not bad just a little bland. I still give it 4 stars because of the staff and the nice fun attitude.
(4)Barbi B.
I love this place! It's by far my favorite! I have never gotten a bad meal! The outdoor deck is an oasis. Including the waterfall. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I love the lobster bites, and know I should try something new every time, I keep going back to them. They have the juiciest garlic parmigiano wings around. When I'm craving wings, this is where I go. The price is perfect for what u get. If u want a great meal, relaxing atmosphere, and fun staff...come here!
(5)Alex W.
Great atmosphere outside today. Food was okay. Nothing to write home about. Had a chicken cheese steak that was very salty. Cheese on fries had been sitting there quite a bit as it was solid, not stringy. Would I go again? Doubtful unless dragged there by someone else. Just not impressed.

I had been to Frogg before, but always only eat inside during off times - never anything to really wow me. This time, however, we choose to eat outside...and I will definitely be returning. The patio is nicely done and it is not too loud there regardless of the sports games going on and the crowded bar areas. The food (I got the standard Fish and Chips while my mum got the Crab Salad) was wonderful. I am very picky about how fish and chips are done, but the fish was perfectly battered and fried. The fries, however, were just your typical fries. Nothing very memorable about them -- hell they didn't even have any seasoning or salt. The service was good - our waiter, Ben, was very attentive to our needs, however, he did tend to hover and come off a bit fake. But overall, as nice guy just doing his job and making the experience one I would repeat.

I've eaten here only once before, and for one, it was ok... But now that its 3 years later, I've eaten here again, and not much has improved. First thing I need to complain about, the seating. We had those tall tables and it was not enough for 8 people. Second, the seats themselves, hard and uncomfortable! I swear my butt still hurts. Parking, Where? The lot was full! I had to walk all the way from downtown just to get a parking space. Noise Level.... TOO! LOUD! How am I supposed to possibly have a conversation if I can't hear my relatives? The drink, was all right, but after a few minutes left an odd aftertaste. Last time I was here it tasted like the frogs swam in it and I had to resort to drinking water. Took a long time to get refills too. I had the Fettuccine Alfredo with a side of Fries... I'M LUCKY TO BE ALIVE! The pasta had WAY too much garlic in it. The fries were ok though. But me having a vampire side, that was just too much for me. All in all, if I were you guys, go somewhere else on a Friday Evening, its too crowded, the service really slows down and the place is too small...

Just okay. A lot of fried food. I don't get the attraction? In a heavy agricultural area I would expect more fresh food.
(3)Michael S.
This place is great for the local scene. It's the best bar and outside bar in town as far as I'm concerned. The bar specials are good and the restaurant itself is great. This is not an elegant restaurant so don't expect the finest dining experience Lancaster but the food is good and atmosphere great. It's a locals hangout not a fine dining experience. I give it a 5 compared to its competitors.
(5)Julie D.
Great place , great food, but having the cooks deliver the food freaks me out. I really don't want to see that.
(4)Andy W.
A nice, casual bar for some good dining. Summertime is an entirely different story. The Patio is definitely one of the best outdoor spots in the area.
(4)Russell F.
I've lived in Lancaster nine years and never been to Tobias S. Frog. The service was excellent. The food was good. The specials were well done. We enjoyed sitting outside. I would definitely go back again. it's what you would expect and nothing less. Compared to much of the local Lancaster competition TSF offered a good value on good food in a nice atmosphere.
(4)Jaan L.
Have always loved the Frog, try the frog legs or wings. Or if in a wild mood the foggy frog cool drink with dry ice.
(4)Kristin O.
The bar and outside area is awesome but the food is edible and not much more. Go elsewhere for dinner then stop by Tobias to enjoy beverages, the atmosphere and your friends.
(3)Chad W.
Great wings and salads. The outside is great to enjoy warm evenings out.

I've eaten here twice now and have not been satisfied with my food either time. This review is about our most recent visit. For one thing, their Caesar salad has italian dressing. That makes it a house salad, not a Caesar salad, as far as I'm concerned. The lettuce quality was good, and the croutons were good, but I did not order a salad with italian dressing. But apparently that's what they use. I then ordered a cup of the potato cheese soup. I figured that was a safe bet - potato cheese soup is always yummy. Wrong. It was thick, as if the potatoes had been pureed, and had a sour aftertaste to it. Before it arrived, I had considered ordering a bowl of it... once I tasted it, I was thankful for getting just a cup. And then the service... we came at an off time, so we were practically the only patrons there, save the people in the bar area. After bringing out our food, our waitress promptly forgot we were there. We waited about 20 minutes for her to come back (I had wanted another water, but gave up on that eventually), until we just got up and went to the bar area, where she was sitting, chatting with her co-workers. She apologized for forgetting about us (her words), but it's very unprofessional when your customers have to come find you to pay the bill so they can leave. I wish I could give this place a better review, because it looks like it has potential. But after this experience, I will not be back.

Go for the outdoor patio experience and the company you take with you and stick with beverages. The bartenders are swell, but the food is never good. Cheese fries needed scraped off the plate, a medium burger was well done and dry, build a burger is not a great deal, etc. If the food was worth it, this would get 5 stars.
(3)Patty L.
One of my favorite lunch destinations. $7.95 linch special changes every day, Sandwich, chips and your choice of one of their soups (creamy crab is awesome!) or salad. Always very tasty. Outdoor patio is awesome when the weather allows and the old building has a lot of character. Great casual dining, looking forward to the new menu they're planning and hoping that all of the old favorites remain.
(4)Joe L.
Very extensive menu, with reasonable prices. I have had the salads for lunch several times and they are generally good with the right amount of greens and vegetables. I tried the new tuna sandwich. The tuna portion was small and it was lost on a large bun with one small slice of tomato. The tuna was done ok. Staff is generally very friendly as well. The deck area is very nice.
(3)Christine B.
The indoor dining area is dark, dingy and does smell funky. That being said, the outdoor area is a good spot to get together with friends for drinks. The service is friendly and on top of drink orders. The food is mediocre. Keep in mind, one star was added to my review for proximity to our home which allows us to drink without abandon and stumble home without having to find a ride back to the minivan in the morning...an added bonus to those rare nights out sanz kids!
(3)Randy S.
Had a great Saturday night sitting by their waterfall. I had the steak and crab cake which was very good. They also had large sandwich menu and extensive drink menu. I would highly recommend this place.
