my fiancé and I have eaten here at least a dozen times and have never had bad experience. for the sushi snobs out there im not going to argue, it is difficult to find amazing sushi in central pa. For now Sakura does the trick. For me the hidden gem on the menu is the duck salad. I order it every almost time I eat in.
(4)C Z.
Food is ok, but the online order service is really convenient

I went here for lunch and ordered the lunch special - miso soup with a spicy tuna roll and an alaskan roll. Miso soup was OK. Spicy tuna was not spicy - the sauce was kind of strange. Alaskan roll was OK. Unfortunately, I have had worse sushi, but I definitely have had much better sushi. There were other parties in there (on a Thursday for lunch) - so maybe it is the best sushi in Lancaster - sorry locals!! The lunch special was only $8 and the rolls were edible, so I was not mad I went, but I will not be back. Also, the service was very nice and quick.

I had a really good noodle meal and my fiance got 3 sushi rolls for us to share. I was pleasantly surprised by the portion of noodles, and it was very good. The sushi was good, but not great. Prices were reasonable. Service was quick and pleasant. Overall a very good experience.
(4)Audrey G.
I got the sushi/sashimi dinner with the green salad as my side plus the seaweed salad for delivery. The sushi/sashimi was fresh and delicious just smaller rolls than I expected. The ginger salad dressing was SO GOOD! Seaweed salad was ok. The delivery lady was great, very sweet and willing to run across the street to my address. Overall great experience!

Looking around the area for a place to eat a good meal on a recent Monday evening, we came upon this sushi house. As the only customers in the place, we sat at the sushi bar (more people filtered in after a while). Music seemed intrusively loud. After a while, I asked politely for the volume to be lowered. I received a simple apology and the volume was lowered promptly and without fuss. Kumamoto oysters (served as "shooters") - excellent Unfiltered sake - very nice Miso soup - delicious and satisfying Various sushi and sashimi - tasty and fresh Their "Signature" roll - delightful. Service was good.

Very good dinner tonight. Had the sushi & sashimi combo, million dollar roll which was amazing, and a dynamite roll. My co-workers who are from Texas loved it and said it was legit. I've also eatin other things on the menu and have never had a bad meal. Pricing is great, 3 of us...less than $100.
(5)Lisa E.
Great sushi at an even better price. There's no need to leave the city for sushi with this place downtown! I went here on a date, and was a great place to order things to share. We had a great time chatting with our server about the various rolls and drink specials. Next time I want to order something besides sushi - the stuff coming from the kitchen looked quite delicious.
(5)Ashley A.
So happy to see a decent place in downtown Lancaster whenever I come to visit and need my sushi fix. There is a wide range of rolls, nice full bar, good wine and the service is great! The menu also has a pretty wide range of Asian dishes, which is good for all those who are not sushi eaters. I even had the Udon noodle soup. Not bad but nothing to rave about and the reason I didn't give Sakura 5 stars. See you again soon....
(4)Maria C.
Simple place, small in room size. Couple booths, few tables, and a sushi bar. The food was pretty good, the sushi was average not bad at all some verity. Their shining dishes for us had to be the beef and shrimp hibachi and the mandarin duck. Delicious! One of the few places that is Luckily open on Christmas and New Years! Pretty good, attentive service.
(4)Drew M.
Visit this location about once a month. Wait staff is always friendly and attentive. Service suffers a tad though when the restaurant is busy or you're in a large group. Food is priced reasonably and their "special" roll is usually very good. Fantastic lunch deal!
(4)Chris B.
Awesome place, food and service are both excellent. Have eaten here many times, I don't eat Sushi but I understand it's very good from people that have had it with me.

When grandmothers offer to let parents go out for dinner, you go. Our attempt to find a table at Annie Bailey's was unsuccessful, so we wandered downtown, comtemplating heading back out of town to Rice and Noodles. However, we stumbled across Sakura and made a night of it. First of all, on a Saturday night this place rapidly filled up by 8 PM. We were lucky enough to grab a table w/o reservations, but that's not generally the case after 8. Make reservations on weekends. Service was very good. Our server had to come back to confirm an order, but she kept the glasses filled and food was ready in a timely fashion. Ambience was likewise pretty solid. Dim lighting, quiet music, upscale settings. As for the food, appetizers were good...seaweed salad and spring rolls, both $5. For entrees, I poured over the menu- overwhelming- and picked the tri-fun...shrimp, chicken, and steak with mixed veggies in a brown sauce. The server said "great choice"....which got my hopes up...but, I have to give it an "ehhh" rating. Not the most flavorful meal. I wouldn't quite call it a frozen-dinner offering, but it was just plain. My wife, on the other hand, picked a winner...pinapple curry shrimp. I never tasted anything so sweet with such a unexpected kick. Really good. Both were in the $15 range. I hate to lay waste to a resturaunt for a ho-hum meal, but I suppose the meal was my choice, so hence my problem...or is it? Shouldn't every menu offering be a homerun? I guess, when it is all boiled down, that if I'm not jumping outta my pants to return, then I'm not hooked. I'm not hooked.

Sushi is smaller than what I'm used to at some other places but it's very good. Staff is friendly! The food is consistent and delicious. My favorite is the general tso's shrimp. Love having them downtown, it's a nice quick walk from our house

If you're into small portions and paying top dollar for "good" fish, this is your place! I'm sorry, that came off sarcasm but I meant it in a literal sense. I've been all over the country as well as Japan, and have been fortunate to try some of the best and worst sushi ever made. This is not the worst sushi, but it certainly is not the best. My service was sub-par. In between his texting, and finally taking my order, he refused to comprehend the word "nigiri" and kept correcting me to use the word sushi to describe my pair of salmon and yellow tail on rice. If it's not sashimi, it's nigiri. But apparently he didn't like that and made me feel like I was stupid. Hmmmm.... none the less, I ordered "sushi" and a "sushi roll". The roll was $12 and was about the size of a hotdog! This was hands down the most money I've ever spent on a salmon roll with rice paper, spicy mayo and rice. If it had toro in it, I might understand... but that should've been $8 tops. The nigiri... sorry... "Sushi" was sliced super thin. About half the width of a pencil. The yellow tail was delicious and the salmon lean with little fatty content (which was a bummer). Being so close to the ocean, I'm surprised the fish quality wasn't better. I'm from Kentucky and we have sushi places that have incredibly fresh fish. It seems strange to me this place is highly rated with such poor service, quality of fish and portion sizes. I will say the atmosphere and decor is nice! They have a great sake selection, plenty of rolls and a slightly above average fish selection. Unfortunately, I wouldn't pay this much money for such small rolls and thinly sliced "sushi" where the rice outweighs the fish 4 to 1. If you want sake and a mini bar, come hang out. If you want sushi... this is worth missing.
(2)Rich S.
I suppose if you must eat sushi in Lancaster this is a decent choice. The staff was excellent and attentive. The presentation was exciting and vibrant. The sushi was ok in quality but I suppose they are trying to keep the price down. I personally would rather pay more for that amazing deep red tuna than settle for the dull brown.
(3)Keith W.
I really wanted to like this place. I came in when they had just recently opened, and was underwhelmed by my sushi. But, hey.. They were new, so I figured I'd try it again after they had time to work the bugs out. This time I decided to do delivery. Yeah.. it was a waste. The sushi was bland and unimpressive, just like last time, not to mention the rolls being unusually small. In taste, it was comparable to grocery store sushi, with the exception being that the rice was at least fresh, and had not become gummy. The wasabi was clearly recently made from powder, and not well, as part of it was dried out and reverting to powder, the pickled ginger was dried, as if it had been sitting on the top of an uncovered pile for an extended time. But, I thought, it's asian fusion -- perhaps the pad thai would be good! No. It was not well flavored, surprisingly dry, and, worst of all, despite being a regular order, was startlingly 'hot' -- I've never encountered a Pad Thai that spicy. Overall, the decor is lovely, the delivery slow, and the food underwhelming. I'll rate it slightly better than grocery store sushi, and not as good as Airport sushi (BWI & O'Hare, being my experience.) The pad thai, however, was just sad. I'm not giving them a 1, because, in this area (Amish country), many people may not have the experience to realize just how poorly made this food is; if you don't know any better, you might enjoy it. I've eaten sushi from Miami to Seattle and various points in-between; if you just want to try something 'different', the food isn't bad... But if you are looking for good sushi, and have the experience to recognize it when you taste it... Try somewhere else.

This is not a bad spot at all. Decent fish, good service, and nice prices. In my small and feeble (or snobby West Coast) mind, I assume that any smaller town away from the ocean will have low quality fish. I stuck with nigiri instead of fancy-fun rolls and I was satisfied with my meal here.
(3)Ryan S.
Was at a conference in Lancaster. Compared to other sushi places I have eaten, I thought this was very reasonable price and good. I just needed a snack and got an Alaskan roll for $5
(4)Christine F.
Had lunch with friends today. The sushi was fabulous, great ambiance, friend staff. My friend had pad thai that had no flavor. I totally recommend the Dancing Tuna (my favorite), the Osaka (also good) and California roll. I will definitely go back for sushi when I'm in town.
(4)Trevor S.
I've had nothing but good experiences at Sakura. The staff are very friendly. The oyster shots are delicious. I've eaten a lot of sushi and I'm not claiming to be an authority on sushi, but I've had some great rolls here. I was a little disappointed with a dragon roll I got once, but other than that its been good. I recommend this place to anyone who wants good sushi in Lancaster.
(4)Jeff R.
After a horrible experience at Sukhothai, these folks save my afternoon. Good food, prompt service and reasonable price. Only negative was it was lunch and the place was very dark.
(4)Michelle S.
The sushi was beautifully crafted and tasted even better. If we had not gone there after a day of beer consumption I would have had more space to try other things. I cannot wait to go back and try more of their artfully executed culinary delights.
(4)Diana B.
Stopped by the other day for lunch with my friend, and it was great! The restaurant is a little small, but it wasn't crowded, so we were all set. We both shared two different types of sushi and they were both great, but my Garden Dragon (I believe that's the name) sushi was delicious. Will be coming back!
(4)Katherine E.
Always fresh! Waitstaff very nice and professional. Second time I've been here and will keep coming back.
(5)Jed W.
What a fantastic place to go with a family. The sushi was delicious, especially the sashimi. But more than that the staff was kind, welcoming and wonderful with my 2 and 4 year old daughters. The kids menu provided enormous portions of really good food with rice included for seven dollars. The shrimp lo mein and hibachi chicken were big hits. I would go back in a heartbeat, with or without my kids.

Gonna say right now, This restaurant has some pretty nice sushi but the service is really quite awful. A group of friends and I called to make a reservation for Sakura after the convention, the lady on the phone told me that since it's full they didn't know unless we go down physically and check. Now that is bizarre, but since we were hungry and because this Sushi is lauded as "the best in Lancaster" we did so. It was so cold outside but we dropped by and As expected it was packed. but not many people were waiting, so I asked them for a time estimate and they said 20 minutes. Because we were yelled at for "keeping the door open" we decided to warm up elsewhere and told them we'd be back and if they needed a name. They waved us away and said "Come back in 20 minutes!" We came back 17 minutes later and there was still no open tables, we decided to wait. Myself and my sister inside and the rest of my group of 5 waited outside in the cold. Another 10 minutes pass and Then a large group we havent seen before was seated before us and I went to inquire. The Waitress yelled at me that they were waiting for 10 Minutes and that they wont seat us unless our whole group was here. And shocked and appalled I retorted that we waited for 20 minutes and my friends were OUTSIDE in the COLD. And HAVE BEEN for 10 minutes. The Lady looked furious, pointed at me accusingly and said "FINE, then THEY wait". Not wanting to deprive this other group (of which its no fault of theirs) I replied that you should let them have it but let my other friends wait inside before they catch something but the Lady once again just yelled at us to get inside or no one gets a seat. We quickly went in. Safe to say she likely chose NOT to be our waittress. The Waitress we did get was polite and nice but not very efficient. We ate the food, enjoyed it, but my younger sis and I were still shaking from being yelled at by a Waitress/Host? who treated us like garbage. Why they dont take names for wait times is an anomoly, Heck even fastfood restaurants give you a number. That Lady is in luck though, The waitress that replaced her was much nicer and the food was better than average. Which is good or else things would have been ugly. Service is deffinitely not a forte and being yelled at was not what I wanted with my slightly overpriced sushi.

I've gotten to eat here for the last few years while attending Zenkaikon at the Lancaster County Convention Center. This year I doubled up and ate here twice. Sakura is not a large restaurant but does have a decent amount of seating, if you have a group call ahead as during dinner I saw people who could not be seated. I was seated quickly for dinner and went with sushi. Picked three rolls that included Eel Avocado Roll, TNT Roll, and Fire Crunchy Roll. Eel Avocado was good as expected and the Fire Crunchy Roll had a unique flavor thanks to the Shrimp tempura. The TNT Roll was underwhelming as it was fried a little harder than I would have cared for. I stopped eating the outside of the roll at the end. Service was good for how busy Sakura was. The next day for lunch I intended to get some Issei Noodle, but they already had a 25 minute wait. Sakura was not busy at the time and went with more sushi. Waitress was lovely and saved me some money as two of the rolls I ordered are part of the Lunch special. Went with the Boston Roll, Philadelphia Roll, and Mexican Roll. Spring Roll that came with lunch was average. Boston Roll was almost a salad in a sushi roll, making it quite interesting. Philadelphia Roll was full of cream cheese and fish as expected. Mexican Roll has an interesting non spicy flavor that's hard to describe but was good. Over the years this place has really grown on me and I enjoy the sushi. Service has also gotten better and it was time to give Sakura a full five star review.
(5)Virginia Y.
This review is solely on delivery. The food came in about 45 mins. Not too shabby I suppose. I had the sakura roll and snow white roll. The sushi was really mediocre and incredibly overpriced for the quality I'm getting, the total was nearly 30 dollars for 2 rolls... The sakura roll was served with orange not lemon, there was barely any avocado and I didn't taste the wasabi mayo. The snow white roll wasn't wrapped in soybean paper, it was just regular seaweed. I think I'd stick to wasabi from now on when it comes to sushi.. atleast it's cheaper and the quality is about the same.

Great restaurant! Lovely atmosphere, reasonable prices, and AMAZING FOOD! Our waitress was wonderful, she kept our glasses filled and talked us through our first sushi-eating experience (which was fresh and great, though we learned we are not sushi people). The soup was amazing, and the spring rolls were fantastic as well. We also ordered some lo mein and general tso's chicken, and both were by far the best we have ever had. They were also very accommodating of a gluten intolerance that we had and made sure to double-- and even triple-- check with the chef that there was no gluten whatsoever in the meal. $75 for drinks and 5 meals. Overall, a strong 4.5/5. We will definitely be returning for seconds! (Same review on Google)

The biggest highlight of our trip to Sakura was how nice the staff was. They are very attentive to your table and provide a very warm and welcoming service. The sushi is fresh enough and tasty, and their entrees were very satisfying as well. I had a dish with honey glazed prawns and caramelized walnuts (always opt for the brown rice, it tastes better). The atmosphere is very standard but intimate, you get fried crisps with a sweet and sour dip for the table, and they have a full bar available also (Enjoyed a Saporro with my meal). I would definitely recommend Sakura as a great place for dinner or lunch when you're in the always eclectic downtown Lancaster.
(4)Victoria Z.
Three people ate all agreeing on a three star rating. Ambiance ok, the red lights were neat but it was very dim and hard to read the menus and freezing when the door opens. Chicken habachi, basil duck and the green curry were all excellent. The wine must have been kept in the back alley, our bottle was brought out to us freezing. Not good. As for the service, they tried. There was a language barrier but when they tried to make up for it they came off as pretty aggressive. Given the above, decent prices and a decent downtown restaurant.
(3)Austin A.
I've had enough experience with sushi to tell the good from the bad, and Sakura's is phenomenal. I frequent this place for Sushi, but have tried some other items from their chinese menu and everything I've had was excellent. I suppose the freshness of their ingredients isn't surprising, given the abundance of flawless locally grown produce and meat. Their prices are very good, particularly now that they've revamped their lunch specials. Service is great, though the food can take a bit to get to the table--a small snag I can only attribute to the place being at capacity most of the times I've been there. The place itself is beautiful; it's a bit dark, but there's light exactly where you need it. I'd consider the decor to be trendy without being pretentious. Definitely one of the best looking Asian fusion/sushi bars I've been to. Sakura has been and remains the standard to which I compare every sushi bar I go to. Thus far, none have surpassed it. p.s. They're BYOB.
(5)Joe G.
This is a nice restaurant. The menu can be a bit confusing with Chinese, Japanese and Thai cuisine all together. The sushi was 3 out of 5 - standard. If you want good but basic this is your place. I would recommend for lunch, better bang for your buck.
(3)Jack B.
In town on business from Philly and stopped in for dinner. I got the garden dragon and sweetheart rolls. Both were excellent. Awesome service too. I'll be back

If u must spend money, put gas in the car n drive to Gincyma House to get ur sushi fix. Service o.k. Very nice lady. Phish was dry, warm, and obviously not fresh. Tempura items were the highest level of gross(was fried in cold and old oil) gressy and undercooked. My rolls were fine; think philly and some form of cali. Roll. Yet the other person dining was to afraid to eat more then 2 pieces of each roll, cuz didn't have that sushi crunch to it and tasted like it was old phish.

We ordered 5 rolls and all were fantastic! Oyster special was also excellent. This place is top notch.

Lunch specials were decent but the sushi was only mediocre. TNT roll I will not get here again. Atmosphere is decent and I will try it again some time, but would prefer some of the other sushi places in and around Lancaster.

Had the mango salad and Sakura roll - both extremely satisfying and delicious. Kudos on the loose leaf green tea, too - that's how green tea is supposed to taste! Excellent service as well.

After a horrible experience at Sukhothai, these folks save my afternoon. Good food, prompt service and reasonable price. Only negative was it was lunch and the place was very dark.

I LOVE good sushi. Think fresh, mouth popping, eye opening, orgasmic delight. I did not find good sushi here. Perhaps it was a slow night. Maybe they were cleaning out the old fish. Doesn't matter, when it comes to sushi, it had better be on point. The rolls: Crazy Girl Roll - Tp. calamari, avocado, asparagus inside; topped with spicy salmon, nuta sauce and momiji sauce. Out of Control Roll - tuna, yellowtail, salmon, avocado inside; topped with tuna and salmon, nuta sauce, spicy mayo and eel sauce. Spider Roll - soft shell crab, cucumber, avocado, lettuce inside; caviar and eel sauce outside. The Crazy Girl and Out of Control rolls were each drowning in sauce, seemingly attempting to hide the "not so fresh" fish taste. The Spider roll, again, just not fresh. It's clear from the reviews that others have enjoyed many a fine meal here. Alas, my first visit will be my last to Sakura.

from the moment we entered we received attentive service. the restaurant was not very full for 7pm on a weeknight but we enjoyed the quick service which was great. husband ordered gyoza to start and then golden phoenix and spicy yellowtail sushi rolls. i had a california roll, shrimp tempura and TNT roll. husband reports that all of the raw fish in his rolls was exceptionally fresh tasting and he enjoyed everything, as did i. sushi was nicely presented on the plate and the atmosphere was relaxing. we used a $25 gift certificate from restaurant.com and the server knew what it was and how to handle -- and the service did not suffer for it, like i have encountered at some other businesses. only weird thing/slight criticism is the charge for doing BYOB. they have their own bar which makes me question why they would allow byob at all, but they also charge a $10 cork fee for wine and $1/beer fee if you byob. these fees seem really out of place in lancaster and i've never encountered that type of thing except at really fine dining. we'll definitely be back to try other kinds of sushi and we'll also be armed with another restaurant.com coupon!

Seem to always have fresh Kumamoto oysters, which we love. They are normally served as shooters, but just ask for them on the half shell if you prefer. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Service is excellent. Wine selection has greatly improved and now is very good, especially for a sushi place. Discovered you can park in the loading zone in front when picking up take-out. We've tried most all the sushi places in Lancaster, and like this the best. Some are larger. One is fancier. But the food is the best here, and the staff the friendliest.

I was just at Sakura last night for sushi, and it was amazing!!!! They always have amazing sushi, never have had anything bad and it's nice to with someone to who doesn't like sushi because they have thai, hibachi, and other meals too. One of my favorite places to go in the city! Service is great, and fast. I highly recommend!!
(5)Sara L.
I love Sakura. I really do. The spicy roll combo is perfect if you're requiring an entire mountain of sushi. "Asian Fusion" means if you're not in a sushi mood, there's always pad thai or hibachi. I dine here quite often and there's always something new and different to try. The only thing keeping me from 5 stars is that service is hit or miss sometimes. Portion sizes and presentation seem to fluctuate. I have been brought the wrong dish on occasion, special requests can go unhonored. The atmosphere is perfect, except for the odd choices in stations on satellite radio that always cuts in and out and can be kind of annoying. Regardless, everything tastes great, and that's really all I care about.

It's 3:30pm on a Monday and it's a holiday AND I'm craving for Japanese Food! So, early dinner at Sakura sounds interesting. We've been walking through several closed stores and sitting in a nice cool restaurant was the next best thing to do with my honey. Started off with the Agedashi Tofu which was great! Crunchy and the sauce was a perfect complement. We are both James Bond fans and the 007 Roll had to be tried. Eel, salmon, cucumber cream cheese, mango topped with smoked salmon and lime and topped with spicy mayo and eel sauce. It tasted as yummy as it sounds. I love eel, so I chose the Fire Dragon Roll, eel, avocado wrapped around shrimp tempura with masago on top. I did not share! Hahaha, ok, I lied, I gave my sweetie one piece! Then when we were done, we figured we wanted the Fancy Salmon Roll, salmon wrapped around tuna, white fish and cucumber with masago on top. What I liked about Sakura is that the amount of rice to filling is just right. Not too much rice. The sauces are added to complement the roll, not to overpower or cover up bad fish flavors. It's there if you like it. The wait staff was very friendly and took care of us. Well, we were the only ones eating at the time. But she was naturally friendly, I think. All in all. Great end to the long weekend and an excellent satisfaction to my Japanese Food craving!

Oh Lancaster, I feel so sorry for you. If this restaurant manages to get a 4.5 star average, then these must be the same people who believe McDonald's has great burgers. I am a huge sushi fan, and to be honest, I devour it at least once a week, which I'd like to say adds to my credibility as a decent sushi critic. I ordered all special rolls: 007, Godzilla, fire dragon, dynamite, shrimp tempura, jalapeño roll, and tiger roll. I could write an essay on how bad each roll was, but I will limit myself to key points. Fish to rice ratio is horrible, and the fish that I managed to find deep inside was not fresh. The crab was imitation. The jalapeño roll had a piece of jalapeño that was extremely small and carried no heat. The shrimp tempura was all tempura batter (might as well just call it a panko roll). Five stars for the sweet lady who served us. Another star for the cool (but deceiving) sushi names. Minus five for making me eat rotten fish. Sorry Millersville and F&M students, this is why I left Lancaster after HS and went to college in Philadelphia.

The food was amazing. I had the basil tofu and it was fresh, flavorful and delicious. The drawback was the service. Our meal took over an hour and a half on a Sunday evening. I was originally going to give this place 5 stars but the service dragged it down...

In summary: The only sushi place in downtown Lancaster! Double bonus - they have free delivery! Amazing! So, as sushi options are kind of (well more like severely limited) in the Lancaster area I was a little weary of trying out the only sushi joint in downtown Lancaster. They have no competition so how hard would they have to try? With there website is currently down and having only three reviews on yelp I was little weary of this place. However, once again, my assumptions were wrong. Sakura is a tiny and quaint restaurant located in the heart of downtown Lancaster. The service is friendly and the food is delicious. I go here for lunch during the work week. They have really cheap lunch specials (think a meal, plus a salad or soup, plus rice for around $7.50, or two sushi rolls plus a salad or soup for around $6.50). The food is almost always ready when they say it is, if not, they seat you down and offer you water and speak very nicely to you. The restaurant is BYOB, so take advantage of this lovely restuarant for a nice and cheap date!

Great place for tasty sushi with a great atmosphere. Looking for a meal with my friend the other night, I chose to go to Sakura because of two reasons. A) They were still open at 8. B) They have great sushi. We both got two rolls and shared them between us. They have a great selection of rolls from cooked rolls, for those with a little less experience with the Japanese delicacy, to great rolls for those who enjoy the fully raw experience :) The atmosphere is really great, low lights, great place to sit and talk. The service is great, however I would say that it would benefit you to listen closely because some of the service has strong Japanese accents. (Which makes it far more authentic.) One downside is the fact that soft drinks do not have free refills, but I usually just get water anyways so it doesn't really sway my opinion much.

Just having back surgery two weeks ago, i needed to get out of the house. My friend Kevin and I had been talking and sushi came up. I'm not allowed to ride in a car,so we remembered Sakura, which is right around the corner from my apartment. I had been there prolly 2 years ago. I was having a Friday night movie night alone and was craving sushi. So i got some sushi and came home and watched Finding Nemo.....yes....thats messed up...funny,but messed up....So anyway,we went online and picked out what we wanted and then proceeded to walk down the street to pick it up. Two Kevin's....$72.00 worth of sushi...the sushi didn't stand a chance!!! I was extremely impressed with the remodel of Sakura. Very chic and beautiful, but not overly obnoxious. The sushi was really good! My only complaint was the sushi wasn't rolled really tight. I noticed when we picked it up, they had a younger man rolling at the sushi bar. He's young and ya gotta start somewhere i guess. Other than the slightly sloppy construction of the sushi, i had no other complaints. The fish to rice ratio was on point. I had 2 spicy salmon rolls....decent heat, good flavor,i also had 2 Philadelphia rolls...again good ratio between salmon to cream cheese.I also had gotten the Valentine roll which was good, but the one at another sushi restaurant i go to makes the best one. I definitely would like to go back and have the dine in experience.....take a nice bottle of Torrantes ( Argentinian wine with a nice acidity i think will compliment the sushi) and grub on some sushi

Just visited Lancaster and had dinner here. Craving sushi & they delivered. Attentive wait staff. Our sushi was fresh. Amazing Tuna Roll lived up to its name. I personally loved the salmon roll. It was pretty enough to take a pic with my phone. Lo Mein was good and husband enjoyed General Tsao's Delight. I'd go back. Don't understand the bad reviews on this place...maybe a different sushi chef late 2010, early 2011. They also have take-out.

I come to Lancaster for work twice a month and this is the only place we have literally visited every single visit. The sushi is fresh, the service is fast and cnsistent and the atmosphere is fine. It's clean and comfortable. If you don't like sushi the sautees (stirfries) are great, esp the Chili Basil sauce. Recommended the snow white and out of controll rolls. Love sakura.

my husband and i were staying in intercourse last weekend and couldn't stomach another butter-soaked "home cooked" meal. it was kind of late (8ish) and everything was closed anyway, so we decided to drive into lancaster, joking that some japanese would really hit the spot. as soon as we arrived in downtown, we were amazed to find a japanese place that was still open and looked pretty darn good. the menu has everything from japanese to chinese to thai, which is usually a bad sign. we both ordered japanese so i can't vouch for the other stuff one way or the other. the service was more than pleasant (a bit slow, but we were in no rush and the waiter kept coming out and apologizing) and the food was great. fresh fish, good tofu and veggies, great salad, good soup. average prices. no complaints at all. solid 4-star food, plus a star for being open when we needed it. thanks sakura!
(5)Sammy P.
Service was good even on a crowded night. My sushi was warm but still pretty good, especially for Lancaster. My friends orders were delicious.
(3)Jamie T.
Since our first delivery experience with Sakura, BF and I have had delivery several times as well as eaten in twice. I am changing my review and bumping Sakura up to 4 stars. The way I see it... If it was good enough for me to eat there 5 or more times, and the food is consistently good and service consistently good, than it is definitely NOT 3 star material.
(4)Larry M.
Went there on a quiet Thursday night. Place has upscale decor, but is actually a lot cheaper than Blue Pacific or Tokyo Diner. Particulary enjoyed the salmon and tuna sushi. A great addiition to the restaurants in downtown Lancaster.
(4)T L.
Very delicious, definitely worth the money! Also, if you can, sign up with restaurant.com since Sakura offers coupons too! Very good deal!

I don't recommend ordering food for delivery from Sakura, and absolutely do not use their online ordering service--it's not reliable. (The website faxes the order to the restaurant, but Sakura's fax machine wasn't working when we ordered. Heaven knows where your credit card info ends up.) After calling the restaurant to check on our order one hour later and discovering it was never received, we re-placed our order on the phone and were told it would be about 20 minutes. It was just over an hour before it arrived. The delivery girl (and her driver/boyfriend?) claimed they had some other stops to make before delivering our dinner, and thus, our hot food was sadly cold. When we called to complain, we were told the order should have come directly to us, and we were promised a discount on the bill, but that didn't happen. That being said, the food was tasty. We had sashimi, sushi (nigiri and maki), an avocado salad, crab rangoon, and miso soup. I was strongly tempted to order one of their Thai curries or soups, but that will have to wait for a visit to the restaurant--if I ever feel up to risking more poor service.

(4)Brandon H.
Undoubtedly the best sushi in the area. Everything else is spectacular as well... Pad Thai, lo mein (a little spicy though - ask them to tone it down a little), sashimi, and hibachi. Order the edamame and some sake to start. If ordering sushi and it is crowded, be patient and receive quality. I recommend Million Dollar roll. Go there more than once and owners sure to remember you, your name, and ask updates on anything you discussed previous visit. Makes for great experiences.

My roommate had ordered from this restaurant previously and really really loved the food, the quality, and the value for the prices. But this review is about the delivery experience..... Coming from a house full of people who have ALL worked in the service industry, this was a pretty ridiculous experience. When the delivery man arrived, he called my roommate's phone and asked him to come down 2 flights of stairs to get his own food because he had "other deliveries" to make that night. This guy complained about the distance of our apartment from the restaurant; though we obviously felt bad our housing isn't our fault. He said he would complain to his boss and refrain from delivering to our complex again... unless we could "hook him up" monetarily. Yes, he asked for his own tips before my friend even had a chance to pull out his wallet. My friend tipped this guy over 20% (which I personally would not have done at that point). He looked at it smugly, and basically scoffed at my friend. Either this guy was too dull to calculate percentages, or he expected a Rolex for being such a saintly messenger of food. After that charming exchange, my roommate heads back up the stairs and bumps into one of our neighbors. But the Sakura delivery guy decided to literally interrupt their conversation, because somehow he magically has enough time to buy a cigarette off of our neighbor, despite his alleged "other deliveries" begging his prompt attention. So you tell me..... exactly how important would you feel, as a customer, to be spoken to that way by a high school dropout lazy motherfucker pushing 30, who prefers to spend his barely-earned tips on cigarettes, while on the clock? 1 star for this place. Fuck your sushi.
(1)Brad K.
It's a popular place for downtown workers. The food is good and the prices are fair. They have a decent menu selections offering both Chinese and Japanese foods to choose from. They have a bar and serve take out. Decorated tastefully but a little small for large groups. Friendly service people.

I used to love this place ALOT but the quality has been going down steadily, lunch delivery is NOT FAST. Don't order lunch unless you're going into the restaurant. My favorite roll keeps getting sloppier and sloppier. My advice, try a competitor.

Best in town! A must is the peppered tuna appetizer maybe the best sushi I've ever had.

This is a nice restaurant. The menu can be a bit confusing with Chinese, Japanese and Thai cuisine all together. The sushi was 3 out of 5 - standard. If you want good but basic this is your place. I would recommend for lunch, better bang for your buck.

(2)Jenn R.
We ordered 5 rolls and all were fantastic! Oyster special was also excellent. This place is top notch.

Some of the best sushi my girlfriend and I have had recently!

(5)Brandon H.

(5)Gary S.
Nice atmosphere, central location and friendly service. Of course the most important part was the SUSHI...survey says OUTSTANDING!
(4)Brad K.
It's a popular place for downtown workers. The food is good and the prices are fair. They have a decent menu selections offering both Chinese and Japanese foods to choose from. They have a bar and serve take out. Decorated tastefully but a little small for large groups. Friendly service people.
(3)Andrew T.
Fantastic sushi chef! Superb management and great service! Having lived in San Jose CA near Japantown this place serves up a great fair! Try .. "The Hulk".
(5)Bethany B.
I used to love this place ALOT but the quality has been going down steadily, lunch delivery is NOT FAST. Don't order lunch unless you're going into the restaurant. My favorite roll keeps getting sloppier and sloppier. My advice, try a competitor.
(2)P K.
This review is based on the lunch menu. Priced right, excellent food, good service. Very much injoyed my lunch at Sakura. My fiance also enjoyed his lunch. We'll definitely go back.
(5)Jonathan M.
Best in town! A must is the peppered tuna appetizer maybe the best sushi I've ever had.
(5)Jennifer S.
(4)Tony S.

(3)Jon L.

(2)Eric R.
(5)Chris B.
Awesome place, food and service are both excellent. Have eaten here many times, I don't eat Sushi but I understand it's very good from people that have had it with me.
(5)Thai D.
(4)Leah L.
Had the mango salad and Sakura roll - both extremely satisfying and delicious. Kudos on the loose leaf green tea, too - that's how green tea is supposed to taste! Excellent service as well.
(4)Laura J.
Crappy drinks... "Meh" sushi... Strange service...
(3)Michelle S.
The sushi was beautifully crafted and tasted even better. If we had not gone there after a day of beer consumption I would have had more space to try other things. I cannot wait to go back and try more of their artfully executed culinary delights.
(4)Zachary Z.
my fiancé and I have eaten here at least a dozen times and have never had bad experience. for the sushi snobs out there im not going to argue, it is difficult to find amazing sushi in central pa. For now Sakura does the trick. For me the hidden gem on the menu is the duck salad. I order it every almost time I eat in.
(4)C Z.
Food is ok, but the online order service is really convenient
(3)Jason K.
Lunch specials were decent but the sushi was only mediocre. TNT roll I will not get here again. Atmosphere is decent and I will try it again some time, but would prefer some of the other sushi places in and around Lancaster.

(4)Justin K.

(4)John F.
(5)Courtney B.
(5)A G.

(5)Liz T.
The food was amazing. I had the basil tofu and it was fresh, flavorful and delicious. The drawback was the service. Our meal took over an hour and a half on a Sunday evening. I was originally going to give this place 5 stars but the service dragged it down...
(4)Amy P.
