Lancaster's Old Country Buffet is devoid of any obvious problems. The place is clean, the staff adept at their job and friendly enough, and the restrooms aren't scary. But none of that can overcome how bland the food is. The homestyle emphasis on steak and potatoes is accompanied by standards like mac n cheese, bread rolls, soup, and a salad bar. They even offer some fish (scarily called "Fish fillet" without mentioning what KIND of fish), a taco bar, and desserts. And none of it really qualifies as "good". The taco bar falls under the category of "acceptable", but everything else is "meh" or worse. (By way of example, the pizza was limp and undercooked.) It's also not a buffet that features a lot of options. There are eight main bars: two for salad, one for tacos, a half-sized one for meat and potatoes, one for sides (think mac n cheese, etc), a half-sized one for other random things, a dessert bar, and a drink station. And for all of this expect to pay over $10 a person for dinner. Even the now-closed Cactus Willies had a better buffet selection for about the same price. Or go to one of the chinese buffets. Or, I dunno, get a microwavable dinner from Giant and pay a fraction of the price for food that tastes about the same.

Absolutely awful. I went there about 10 years ago (2004 or so) and I only remember one word to describe the place: "meh" I tried this place again and it cost $30 for 2 buffets and 2 drinks (I only asked for water but got charged for a drink anyways). The best food I had was "ok" and most of the food was bland or gross. I can pretty much eat anything and I had a hard time choking this food down. The chocolate milk smelled like bathroom cleaning chemicals and tasted just as bad. The "hot" food was cold and the staff ignored us for the most part. When I did ask the staff if they had more tortillas, they were pretty quick to get more, but they were cold. The cappuccino cups were grimy and one had food in it from a previous guest. I had to look at each cup before using it. The dessert was awful and even the ice cream tasted weird. I love ice cream and I had to waste it. I ended up leaving full but I didn't enjoy my time and could not believe I paid more than $3.99! Do not go on a weeknight shortly after dinner time, it is a ghost town there! How can this place still be in business?! If it is open in 2024 (I pray it is not!) then I might give it another try. I will stick to the nicer buffets in town and avoid this at all cost!

The staff are friendly and attentive. The decor needs updating. The facilities are clean, but look tired. The food is ok and will do if you're in a hurry, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

It took me three tries to pull a clean fork from the utensil pile and even more trips to the buffet to find something appealing to eat. The employees are as miserable as the customers. Old Country Buffet is a depressing atmosphere to eat an unappetizing meal.

I wish I could say that this was at least "meh". I've been to other OCBs before. I normally enjoy the corn chowder, but the bowl I ate here actually tasted sweet. The fried chicken was good, but everything else I ate was just to terribly bland. As if the taste wasn't bad enough, the "Mexican RIce" served at the taco bar was crunchy. Yes, crunchy. The coconut cake might have been decent if it wasn't stale. The staff seemed friendly enough, but the food was "C" or worse. I spent 45 minutes here, which is a record at a buffet for me.

Horrible! Food was not fresh, it was cold. The place was a MESS, and servers were just standing around talking & texting. Had to put out dirty dishes on the table beside ours. (They weren't even busy!) Will NOT go back! Waste of $$

I've eaten at HomeTown Buffet before but I can't recall eating at an Old Country Buffet. Both are owned by Buffets, Inc. along with Country Buffet, Ryan's Grill Buffet and Bakery, Fire Mountain and a few smaller stores like Granny's Buffet and Tahoe Joe's Famous Steakhouse. Essentially HomeTown and Old Country are the same. They serve your typical American food. There are many serving areas set up here. The first houses the Jell-O, cole slaw, potato salad, pasta salad, fruit salad and taco bar with hard corn tortillas, soft flour tortillas, meat, nacho cheese, sour cream, salsa, shredded cheddar and shredded lettuce. There was no beans. Next you'll find the salad bar with lettuce (which was in poor shape, I did not have any), peas, carrots, beets, hard boiled eggs, cauliflower, sunflower seeds, bacon bits, raisins, carrot salad and the dressings, Ranch, Thousand Island, blue cheese, Italian, etc. The first hot foods station has chicken noodle soup, chili, fried okra, French fries, fried fish and their sauces, BBQ, soy sauce, tarter sauce, cocktail sauce, horseradish sauce and mayonnaise. Next to that is a table with pizza, baked potatoes, brussel sprouts, hot dogs, grilled chicken and fried chicken. Past that you'll find the steamed fish, mashed potatoes, beef gravy, turkey gravy, green beans, corn, cornbread stuffing and sausage. The last serving table has dinner rolls, cornbread, orange chicken, spaghetti, meat sauce, macaroni & cheese, baked beans. In the dessert area you'll find oatmeal cookies, sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, fudge, rice krispie treats, peach cobbler, apple cobbler, hot fudge chocolate cake, chocolate cupcakes, brownies, bread pudding, cheesecake, cherry cheesecake, chocolate cheesecake, vanilla pudding, chocolate pudding, butterscotch pudding, Rocky Road pudding, carrot cake, chocolate cake, apple pie, vanilla and orange frozen yogurt, vanilla, chocolate and swirl soft serve ice cream, hot fudge sauce, chocolate syrup, strawberry syrup, butterscotch syrup, crushed Heath Bar, crushed Oreos, crushed peanut butter cups and chocolate chips. I must say that I was pretty disappointed with my experience here. Normally I have a least a decent meal at a Buffets, Inc establishment but there were several things that were wrong here. Starting with the food, most all of it was much much too salty. You might assume that a buffet and especially one serving mostly fried foods would be salty to begin with but a lot of the items were inedible because of how salty they were. I have a much more in-depth review on my personal blog.

I was at the Old Country buffet for lunch on a Saturday at 3pm the price was $7.29 they have a good selection of food. If you like to eat healthy that have good choices to pick from and if you just don't care that have does choices to. At 3:30 that start putting you dinner you can pick for that as well if you like there no restriction like a lot of other buffers. The drink is extra.

Just ok. Meh. Take it or leave it. Ho Hum. Nothing special about this place except its a buffet of unremarkable food thats not good or bad, just ok. Prices are reasonable and youre likely to find a bus load of retirees on any given day. Once I found a whole bunch there on a day that there was so much snow most people stayed home and the rest of us went to work. That was just weird. Credit cards accepted.

It's like every other Old Country Buffet in the world. Fair if your hungry and don't care what you eat.

Instant eggs. Frozen potatoes. Cheap pancakes and waffles. Only go here for breakfast if you're looking for quantity, not quality. Haven't even thought about this place for lunch or dinner after experiencing the breakfast buffet. If you can't do eggs and potatoes well, how good can the dinner food be?
