Time was, it was difficult to find a spot in the Lyndon parking. You probably had to wait to get a seat. Not so much anymore. I had breakfast there, this morning, at 7:45. I parked right by the front door and was nearly alone in my section. Here's the problem. It's the food. It's terrible. It's a diner and, a diner that at one time had amazing food. Good food. But for the last few years I think it's been on a decline. Breakfast. Hashbrowns that were barely cooked and tasted metallic. My guess is, the grill is clean. The eggs were dry and lifeless as though they had been scrambled and cooked sometime earlier. The breakfast sausage...it tasted like bad bologna. Bad. It tasted nothing like breakfast nor the pretty darn good sausage Lyndon used to serve. But my toast was just about perfect. I'd complain about $2.29 for a small diet soda but that's pretty typical. The sad part was, I was treating myself to a breakfast and it turned out to be a waste of money and time. Oh, and that wonderful bakery counter under the cash register. Lyndon has got so much of my money that way. I bought a half dozen cookies which, in the past, have been just fantastic. This time, they were dry, and I mean, suck all the moisture from my body and from the bodies of other humans near me dry. Tasteless. So, my last trip to Lyndon and I want to strongly suggest you do not make the same mistake I did. Go somewhere, anywhere, else.

Food is great, not greasy at all. Exactly what you need when you have a hangover. The line looks intimidating but the wait is not long at all. Staff is super friendly and the food comes out quick. Love it.

One of my favorite times for breakfast is late at night after leaving the bar. We had just left Loxley's and stopped at the Lyndon for some grub. The interior is your typical diner decor and was very clean. We were seated as soon as we walked in and our server came right over for our drink orders. I had been craving a chocolate milk shake so I had to order one. It was very good and thick. For my breakfast I tried the Sampler. It was just under $9 and came with the following: Two large pancakes Bacon Sausage Two Eggs Home Fries Toast I thought $9 was a bargain for the amount of food in the sampler and it was very good. My girlfriend had a pork roll sandwich that was stuffed with multiple pieces of pork roll. The Lyndon has great service, good food at reasonable prices. We will be back.

Food is good , and thankfully I've never experienced a wait. In fact it was slow enough on a weekday night that a gaggle of the employees were chilling in the booth behind us ! Too loud. Raunchy conversation, loud enough that I couldn't have a conversation over my meal with my wife and 14 yr old daughter . Slightly awkward hearing the gals having "girltalk" about guys and stuff while I'm paying to not have to cook and enjoy dinner with my 2 gals. Im no Puritan but I don't really need all that business with my dinner and daughter.

Hands down, best French Toast in Lancaster. They also serve alcohol and, the mimosa was great with the breakfast I had
(5)Lana A.
Lyndon City Line Diner is as popular as ever and still a bit above average, but not nearly as excellent, flavor wise, as it used to be. Service was brusque and inattentive. We received no drink refills of any kind, even coffee. A disappointing visit overall.
(3)Sarah K.
Came here for their breakfast special. 2 pancakes, 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 eggs, 2 toast, and home fries for a good price. They also have burgers which are a favorite of mine. Service is friendly and fast.
(5)Terry F.
The breakfast we had was awesome and the price were very reasonable the service was very good as well especially considering how busy they were. Much better than the higher priced Red Caboose Motel and Restaurant where we stayed the weekend in Strasburg!

Hands down, this is one of the best diners I've ever been to and had breakfast at. It is certainly the best diner I've been to in the vast state of Pennsylvania! This place was, wow! Just wow! I ordered one of those breakfast platters the diners always have - two of this, two of that, etc - and there is no way I could finish it. The french toast was so big and filling, and it was absolutely delicious. They also had the most holy of breakfast foods, PORK ROLL (aka Taylor Ham). This was the first time I'd seen pork roll at a diner outside of NJ, so I knew I had to get it. Win! Score! I'd go back again and again. The only drawback was the huge crowd on a Saturday morning... But that's to be expected!

DO NOT ORDER MEATLOAF!! My hubby ordered it and it looked like cat food! He attempted to taste it and almost threw up. The manager was at least kind enough to not charge us for the meal though. But take caution when looking at the menu. Honestly you're better off eating out of the trashcans... Besides the horrible run in with the meatloaf., on the bright side... Their breakfast is pretty good and cheap Gave 2 stars because of not being charged for the load or would have given one star. Our waitress was pretty nice.. Our son liked her and he doesn't like people too much lol..

Visit Lancaster County several times a year and always stop at the Lyndon at least once, maybe more.Food is fantastic and great service! Never a complaint. Going back this weekend as a matter of fact!

Service was a little off, but the food was worth the wait. *Bet they are always hiring window washers!
(4)Brandon H.
Everything a classic diner should be. You get to page through the novel of menu options, then receive gigantic portions. Usually get breakfast (Irish breakfast usually) here no matter what time of day it is, but their vegetable beef soup is killer.
(4)Nat L.
I've only been here for breakfast, but they don't disappoint. Large portions for $6-$9. Great "go to" breakfast spot. I'm sure their lunch and dinner are good too.
(4)Celeste M.
Traditional American diner. Service is fast and friendly with a relaxed atmosphere. A great place for get togethers, and family time. The serving are HUGE. I didn't have a chance to try their tasty looking desserts. I will be returning

Lyndon is our Go To Place for a good breakfast, whether it be 8AM or 8PM, it's consistant . . .consistantly good. The sausage is to die for, and if it can be obtained any place else, we haven't found it! I don't like my waffles pale and always order mine "well done." and that's the way I get them. The only thing I have problems with, and it's not only Lyndon but anytime I order eggs, is this. If my main man and I both order eggs, he orders his over easy and I emphatically order mine over medium, close to hard because I can't stand that runny stuff. I always get eggs the way HE ordered his. It should take at least a minute to a minute and a half longer to cook mine. Solution? I don't order eggs when I go out ~ There are too many other goodies that will satisfy me just as well. With that said, we've never had a server that was not friendly or helpful. They've always greeted us with a smile and a pleasantry or else we've greeted them first with a smile and a pleasntry. We don't know what kind of day they may have had before they got to our table and we all have bad days. I give everybody the benefit of the doubt. (This is in response to the reviews mentioning the server who wasn't speaking ~ perhaps there was a situation that needed her at home, and she needed the $$ from work, we don't know what somebody is experiencing.) Over all, we love this place, and they have a big following or regulars. Try it ~ you'll like it!
(5)Laura S.
The food was delicious. We were impressed by the speed with which it was delivered to us, the quantity, and the taste. Unfortunately, that was not enough to make the experience a positive one, nor is it enough to make us return. Our server was Robin, a surly woman who has obviously been working the business for a while. We were greeted sans smile with "Drinks." When she returned to take our order, there was no speaking, but instead she stood over us, staring, pen to pad. There was no "thank you for joining us," no "can I help you with anything," not even an introduction of who she was -- we found out her name only when we recieved our check and saw it printed at the top. What added insult to injury is that when we brought up our concerns to the cashier and she brought the manager over, the manager never once looked at us or spoke to us, despite being across the counter. She whispered something in the cashier's ear, then turned and walked away. Apparently, it was "take $2 off their meal"... which wasn't what we were looking for. Manners?? Apology?? Customer Service?? Not present here.

This place has a huge menu, they give you large portions and the food is good. I was in there recently with a friend, and we had a fairly new waitress, her name was Bobby Jo, she was very nice and pleasant, always had a smile. Service was great. This was my second time at the Diner but I know I will definitely be back. Keep up the good work Bobby Jo. Helen, Narvon, PA

I'm normally itching to get to the Lyndon diner for their hashbrowns and coffee... As a vegetarian there aren't usually tons of options that diners have for me but the Lyndon has a vegetable dinner with lots of yummy choices to choose from. They also offer pasta dishes, a spinach dip, delicious grilled cheese, and now...an amazing veggie burger. I highly recommend checking this place out if you're a vegetarian!! However...recently I had a pretty horrible experience there. I'm only writing this because I was really disappointed as this was supposed to be a special day, my boyfriend's birthday. We had the unfortunate experience of ending up with a waitress named Robin S...which we found out upon getting our receipt. We'd worried if we had somehow come off as rude to her that she was treating us so horribly...in that she slammed out food down, never refilled our drinks or asked if we needed anything (we did), or spoke more than 2 words to us the entire time. If she would have come back at any point maybe I could have communicated that my food was still cold in the middle instead of suffering through eating it... It was a very miserable visit because of her obvious annoyance at having to do her job and serve us. We had planned on ordering cake to celebrate the special day...but just ended up leaving asap. It's a shame because spending $25 to go out to eat isn't something I get to do too often, even though that probably doesn't sound like much to some people. I just always hope that when I do spend money that it's a good experience...which is what the Lyndon should be. I think they need to reevaluate her, especially given the fact that I see at least one other negative review of her on this site.

I discovered this diner by pure accident this weekend and have eaten EVERY SINGLE meal here. Not all the items are a home run, but most are pretty good. I love the fried chicken, chicken parmigiana, and the pot roast sandwich. Tomorrow I'm trying the omelette! I can't wait.
(4)Ryan P.
I miss the Lydon diner! I lived out in Lancaster for about three years and this diner was my go to spot. Nothing like picking up a morning paper, grabbing a cup of coffee and having one of their omelets. The next time I'm back in Lancaster I will certainly being stopping here.
(5)Katherine M.
This place is open 24 hours, clean, and had a really good menu. I was really intrigued by the dessert case, but didn't indulge. My breakfast was quite good - eggs were yummy, hashbrowns were too. Good, solid diner food with a lot of options. Definitely a place to come if you are looking for diner food and hungry. I wouldn't say it's the best diner I've ever been to, but it's up there.
(4)Josh S.
Stopped in here for ol times sake.I used to stop in here during visits with my lady while she was away at college. Fast forward 10 years... Still the same as I remember it. Awesome pancakes good coffee and great service... Plus they serve excellent cheesecake. Nice to see some things never change.I look forward to stopping in again someday.

Such a classic greasy spoon diner! For a brunch lover like me, this was heaven. I was with a group of seven and we were a little daunted by the line of folks waiting for a table at first, but they do a fast turn over here and we only waited ten or fifteen minutes. Big portions, good value, friendly service, everything cooked the way it should be (if you ask for an egg over easy boy will it be eeeeaaasy). Coffee was decent, maybe Seattle has spoiled me in this regard.
(4)Brenda A.
Disgusting. I ordered the fried chicken basket. What I got was flavorless chicken strips breaded with something that smelled like dirty feet. The only thing edible was my tiny container (about 3 bites) of cole slaw. I sat with an empty drink glass for at least 20 minutes before the waitress bothered to come check. This used to be the go to diner in Lancaster. I will not be back.
(1)Rob H.
We always make this a breakfast must go to diner. Have never had a bad breakfast and always more than enough food (I'm called Big Rob for a reason). In my opinion I'd go here every time for breakfast!! Can't speak for lunch or dinner food but based on breakfast I'd bet it's pretty good. And they have a full liquor license.
(5)John K.
Awesome place to eat if you are ever in Lancaster Pa. We stopped in late one evening while driving through. We decided to try this retro 50s style diner on a chance, mostly because the parking lot was still 65% full even on a Tuesday night. I had a stuffed salmon dinner with creamed spinach, a fresh salad, and a side of onion rings. My wife ordered Chicken Francaise, baked apples, and a side cup of chili. Dinner was also served with large, fluffy dinner rolls and pumpkin spice bread. Everything was fresh & delicious! The hot foods were hot, cold foods cold, with our entrees being cooked perfectly, not over or under done. The serving portions were really generous. If not for being on the road, we'd probably have saved half for tomorrow's lunch. Prices were modest, dinners were about $13 each. Definitely worth a stop if you're hungry and need an excellent, filling meal!
(5)Emily C.
Terrible experience! Waited for 30 minutes after we ordered (with two hungry little kids) before our waitress finally came over to tell us someone else took our food! Their compensation was not to charge us for 2 cups of coffee. Big deal. Thats nothing when you have kids that just want to eat. We left and will NEVER be eating there again.
(1)T L.
Always a great place to hang out with friends and family! Great service due to BO! He's one of the reason why we would ever come back, very nice person!! Food is great when Bo take cares of us!
(5)Austin A.
The food is terrible, and the prices are outrageous. Even if the food was of a higher caliber, the prices would still be obscene. It doesn't help that the place is a cesspool of hipsters and high school scenester kids; seriously, you can't go in there without feeling like you've just crashed a 30 seconds to Mars listening party. Diner coffee is notoriously nothing special, but the Lyndon's coffee tastes like the pot was sitting in a sink of greasy brown dishwater. Avoid at all costs. If you're looking for a good diner with a less irritating atmosphere, try the Neptune.
(1)Edwin H.
This place is to diners what Port-a-Potty's are to Operating Rooms. Or try this, as far as the east is from the west. Seriously, once you get past the facade, you see, there are no diner traits except the table and chairs. Limited menu for a diner. Rather rigid in how they run it. And, does anybody care that you're there. We never found that to be the case. Fast food, yes. Out of a Box, yes, tasty, right in line with any other fast food joint you'd go too. Good reasons to go, uh...say if, EVERY other restaurant on the face of the earth was destroyed somehow.
(1)Melissa K.
I think the diner is eh.. okay. It is not smoke free yet and I DO NOT like that. The wait for the food is kind of long. I have been there on multiple occasions- twice with large party (25 people) and then with a party of four, and both times the service is slow. I don't think the prices are all that great either. The cream chipped beef was good. The paintings in the large room are festive. I only go when I have to.
(2)MoCe C.
Lyndon egg beni special was good, and they did cook my hash browns extra. As this is 1 of two options my work will pay for. I am the rare endangered patron That has gambled with my life n tried various items. I have learned to only order breakfest. There isnt a happy ending in this story but I can say I'm still on the right side of the grass. But the knock out punch is the service is top notch slow. And a Tad pricey for sysco $h!t. Stay away unless their paying You to eat there.
(1)george a.
I enjoy going here mostly because they serve breakfast all day which is really good. Portion sizes are pretty big and the service is generally prompt. On the down side, they are usually pretty packed especially on weekends starting friday about lunch time. One trick is to sit in the smoking section. Theres usually seats open, but the price is that you will go home smelling like smoke. Located on manheim pike (rt 72) across from autohaus.
(3)Joshua K.
Your typical diner. Service can be different depending on when you there. Overall good service though. Food is good. I don't like the huge menu.
(3)Robyn A.
I will NEVER come here again! Please remind me!
(1)Jennifer K.
Great menu with large variety of food choices & reasonable prices. LOVE the hummus platter!
(4)Nat Z.
I know this is supposed to be the hopping place to eat in Lancaster's suburbs, but I've never had great experiences here. I've been here a few times, mostly for breakfast. One time the food and the service was fine, but another time the service was abominable, the food awful and overpriced. We spent $11 on coffee and some food item. I think it involved waffles with chemicaly fruit matter on the top. Methinks not, because I'd rather eat at a real diner rather than a plasticky one between a highway and a strip mall, overpriced and full of weird suburban teenagers. There are about a dozen places I'd recommend over this that are closer to the city.
(1)John C.
Average to incredibly terrible food. Service below normal standards. I tried to make a few suggestions and was totally shut down by the owner. He is incredibly rude and does a disservice to his customers by thinking he knows everything and really looks down his nose at fellow food service professionals (I spent 27 years in the business doing everything in both front-of-the-house and back, including management. I also have culinary school training.) Maybe he's been in the business too long and now is too set in his ways to even consider change.
(1)Elaine F.
Great American style diner. Serving breakfast 24hrs. Still packed with ppl after midnight.
(5)Sue W.
Have only eaten here for breakfast but the quality, variety & quantity of the food can't be beat. Great service & fairly reasonable prices. You won't be able to walk by the pastry case without wanting to buy one of each.
(5)Steven H.
Fantastic! Went on a Sunday around 11:00AM. Basically, walked in, got a booth and c offee, ordered breakfast, my wife ordered lunch, granddaughter ordered breakfast. Food came pretty quick, good and hot, and tasty. This place is on the top of my favorite eating places.
(5)Ashley Z.
came here for the first time last sunday...arrived around 11 am and had about a 10 minute wait. coffee was really good as was the customer service. i had a bacon egg and cheese sandwich that was one of the best i've ever had - large, lots of bacon, good amount of cheese, and the bagel was fresh. also had the hashbrown casserole which was hashbrowns, cheese, and onions - loved it. DH had pancakes, toast, hashbrowns, eggs, and sausage and loved it all. we will more than likely go back here!
(4)Anthony D.
I hate this place. My wife and son like it but I can't stand it. The service is always slow and the always seem to screw something up. I haven't been here when something wasn't brought to the table or made wrong. Portions are big but the hassle just isn't worth it. I don't understand the allure but there is often a line (especially at breakfast). Don't waste your time unless you want to be frustrated. The portions are big so I guess they have that going for them.
(1)Chris P.
HUGE portions ... doesn't matter what you order! lol Pancakes are delicious... We stopped on a Sunday morning for Breakfast and all 10 of us were satisfied and FULL! Service was a tad slow , but they were very busy... Highly recommend this place!
(4)Laura J.
When I'm in town, this is where I go for breakfast at 1:00am. My boyfriend also loves their huge portions and home made chili.
(5)Def V.
Nice New York style diner in Lancaster ; Pa..Not to bad
(4)Sarah H.
Good food. Clean restaurant. Friendly staff.
(5)Dylan M.
I used to come here all the time with friends. Never before 11pm unless it happened to be really early in the morning after a late night, and I've almost exclusively stuck to the breakfast. At first, I loved the place. But, after being in Pittsburgh for a while and coming back, I've realized that the food is just your average diner food. As said before by another reviewer, "Nothing to write home about." That being said, the prices are alright, the staff is fine for a diner, and you can come here at 3 in the morning to get whatever breakfast you please. It's a nice place to end up at to cap off a night.
(3)Roger M.
It's a diner, and delivers exactly what you would and should expect.
(5)Carrie M.
I have been here more than once, but my last experience will make me think not twice, but three times about ever going back. Last Sunday night, our party of two was treatly so hapharzardly that I couldnt believe it. It all seemed ok when we sat down, about 8pm. The restaurant was slow, with one of the waitresses sitting in the booth next to us chatting with what I assume were regulars, and Im ok with that. As a server of 10 years, I get it, and appreciate that. Once we decided what we were to order, our waitress took it down, but then told me that my order of cream corn ( which she just mentioned as a special) was "odd". Im ok with that too. Heres where the problem came in. Our food came out (cold) with the side dishes on the wrong plates. Still not so bad. Our waitress walks up to oru table, and mentions she is leaving, and quote" the heavy set girl will now be taking care of you." While a strange statement, after about 25 minutes, said girl was no where to be found. Mind you, at this point there is one other table in the entire establishment. Finally, I walk over to the hostess stand and ask if our server could please come to our table. Literally, and this made me laugh, she asked me where we were sitting. Well, since there is only one other table, how about you look to your left. When said waitress ( who was the guilty party chatting away with her regulars earlier) sashays up to our table and says "do you need something" I about blew a fuse. Look, Ive been in the business, I know it sucks when its slow. But some customer service would have been nice. When paying the check, the hostess asked if everything was ok, and we blatantly said no. It will be a long time, if ever, before I return.
(1)Lori J.
The food was good, the service was better than average. I didn't have to ask for a drink it just showed up when mine was empty. I had the banana foster pancakes and everyone had some, it was very tasty and huge portions! Worth trying.
(4)Susan H.
For an out of towner, a fine enough diner stop. Clean, efficient, decent food. IRISH owned!! (for once not a GREEK diner! hey, my husband is Greek, I'm Irish. This is a big deal in our house) The plain cheesecake is quite good, especially on the way back to your hotel after a few drinks out! We stopped back for breakfast and we were satisfied. Seated promptly even though the place was packed. The food was fine and our server was efficient.
(3)Justin K.
You're typical diner. There are no thrills at this diner. Nothing special to write home to mom about. However, the food is always tasty and is typically fast. Don't expect anything to great. And stay away from things that you couldn't get at any other diner. With that said. Enjoy!
(3)Kim N.
Came here for lunch with bf and his friends. A bit of a wait, but wasn't too bad. It's a diner, so it moves pretty quickly. 15 - 20 minutes after arrival, we were seated. We got our drinks fairly soon after placing our order. The food, however, took a whiles longer and our waitress apologized, saying that the kitchen was backed up. Bf and I split an order of the jalapeno cheese fries, which were okay. I ordered the Lyndon version of eggs benedict, which had bacon, spinach, diced tomatoes, with a poached egg on a toasted english muffin. Quite good, although a tad bit too much hollandaise sauce. Bf got the greek omelet and enjoyed it. Despite the line of people, we were never rushed to finish or to pay the check.
