Best Chinese restaurant that I've ever ate in! My wife and I have been going there regularly for many years and everything that we've ever tried is always excellent! The proprietors are very friendly and knowledgeable, and the wait staff are extremely accommodating !

They have the best Chinese cook in town! The sautéed stir fry chicken and green beans is my favorite.

This is a great Chinese spot that reminds me of home...where there is good Chinese everywhere. Their soups are amazing especially their vegetable ones. It was so good I got a large to take home and bring to work. I will definitely be going here again.

I have searched, but there is no one that can even come close to the superior flavor for the Chinese food at Hong Kong Gardens. Hot and Sour soup made to order, outrageous! Sizzling platters are fantastic and no skimping on serving sizes. Always enough to enjoy the next day. Family owned and delighting foodies for over 30 years! Way to go Steve and Susan!!!

Beautiful atmosphere and very friendly wait staff. U can tell they truly love what they do! The food came quick, which was great for a lunch service. I got the orange beef, and it was done perfectly and so tender. I'm so glad this place is 2 minutes from me!

Best Chinese food in Lancaster. I always make sure to get takeout from here when I'm visiting family in the area. They do great standards -- beef and broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, General Tso, wonton soup, fried rice, etc. Portions are excellent. And the place is nice enough inside for a very pleasant sitdown dinner.

I've been eating here since I was old enough to have solid food and this is the best Chinese food in town! Family owned and they always take extra care with their regular customers ( yea extra spring rolls!) never once disappointed and that is hard to say for many restaurants in Lancaster. This place is more than just dinner it's tradition!

You will not find better Chinese food in Lancaster Co. I no longer live nearby, but regularly drive to Lancaster Co. to enjoy lunch or dinner here. I highly recommend Imperial Shrimp (slightly crispy shrimp with cashews in a brown garlic sauce sweetened with maraschino cherry juice and cherries), Lemon Chicken -- the sauce is fabulous!, Tai Chang Chicken (tender chicken infused with ginger flavor) and their incredible hot & sour soup, which has a thick and flavorful broth with large pieces of meat and tofu, mushrooms, etc. Dine at Hong Kong Garden. You won't be disappointed.

Hands down the best Take-out Chinese place in this area! One of the best values in the area, particularly for lunch.. Though the massive portions at dinner make it excellent as well. The people are extremely friendly and remember you.. And actually what you eat.. After a few visits. Food wise, I'm not insanely adventurous, but I think they go the extra mile even on the "traditional" foods. For instance, with beef lo mien, they marinade the beef in something tasty that makes the whole meal better. It also includes sprouts which are always nice. It didn't contain any, what I would call "roughage" or crappy vegetables not prepared to a level worth eating either.. Just tastiness and an empty plate at the end (of two meals because there's a bunch!) I've eaten here mainly for lunch and it's a great value deal. Huge portions plus soup and free iced or hot tea for like 8 bucks. Combine that with friendly service and you have the best Chinese restaurant in Lancaster county!

I had take out. And all three dinners were excellent. Very friendly and from what I could see very clean.

Meh. What they lack in quality they make up for in quantity. Soup tasted like vegetables floating in water, but the Veg Delight is pretty tasty. I ordered it extra spicy, but it had NO heat at all. I hope they just overlooked it on the order slip, and didn't actually think that passed for extra spicy. It's close to my house and is better than other local Chinese (i.e. Yang's and Tony Wang's).

By far the best Chinese food I have ever eaten. The service is equally as good as their food. I'm saddened by the fact that I've moved across the country and now live in Los Angeles. Every time I come home to Pennsylvania, this is one stop I make! I'd love for them to open up a restaurant in Burbank. Nothing out west comes close!

I always treat my boyfriend by taking him here for a dinner every so often. The staff is always so nice, the location is incredibly clean, and the food is great. I'm not a huge fan of Chinese, but this is the place I go to when I feel like it.

One of my 'must stop' places on Lancaster. Been coming here for more than 10 years, and the Ginger Scallion Shrimp and their Hot and Sour soup ROCK. Say hello to Susan and Steve when you are here!

Food was a little bland and was not impressed with the waitstaff using utility carts to serve food but overall the experience wasn't bad. Although not impressed by my first experience I wil be giving it another try. Also the link to the restaurant's menu on Yelp is incorrect. They no longer serve duck and do not have a dinner for two.

A decent Chinese place with good food, and you get quite a bit of it. A Co-Worker and I went here for lunch in search of Chinese food. I got the chow mein with was very tasty but incredibly hot. I don't know how they did it but I'm pretty sure I burnt myself a few times when eating it... The atmosphere is nice, there is a fairly ornate doorway but other than that it is a typical Chinese restaurant. I would recommend this place if your in the area but don't drive out of your way to eat here. Its good but nothing terribly special. Typical chinese.

There are a few things about this place that keep drawing me back. The decor is dated but this is one of the things I admire. The dining room is one big open area with tables, booths and larger tables that each feature a lazy susan. They are usually busy during lunch and tends to a mature crowd. The wait staff are efficient and professional and have been staples at this restaurant for a long time. You can tell this place has been here for years and that they have a loyal customer base. The wait staff recognize the loyals and are on a first name basis with some of them. Mostly everything on their lunch menu is under $10 and is served with fried rice. There are many dishes to choose from including typical Chinese dishes you would expect to find but also with a few unique dishes. Fried noodles and hot tea are complementary. Both duck sauce and hot mustard are made available at each table. The meals are nicely portioned and leaves you with a full, satisfied stomach. The dishes are prepared well too. I have not had something there that I have not liked. Servers utilize carts to serve customers which is another old school characteristic that I enjoy. All in all, this is a restaurant that I have always had a positive experience at. Management is friendly, staff is efficient and professional, the restaurant has a preserved dated look, the food is prepared well, portions are nice, and prices are affordable. I recommend this restaurant for all these reasons.

Wow! I haven't had great chinese food since 2001. Hong Kong Gardens hit a homerun for me and my family!

Hong Kong Gardens is definitely on my "best places in the world to eat list." You think I'm kidding? Have been eating their Hot & Sour Soup since they opened their doors [sometime around 1980]. Grew up in Lancaster, PA and served in the US Air Force all over the world. Have eaten Hot & Sour soup in 5 different countries, Tacoma, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, San Antonio, Phoenix, Charlotte, Honolulu and several smaller US towns in between. None make their Hot & Sour soup better than Hong Kong Gardens. So three cheers and salutes to the chefs here! I've only ever ordered the soup. You all can knock yourself out on the rest of the menu.

Really good chinese. The place has the decor, feel and service of a nice restaurant but the prices are normal and reasonable. We didn't have to wait to be seated for dinner. Food tasted fresh and portions were large. We took home leftovers. I really liked that I didn't have to drink a gallon of water during the night like it happens to me after having chinese at some other places. Will be back to get our chinese food fix.

Oh my goodness... I was here on Saturday night with my girlfriend and we had the best experience! The waiter was extremely nice, the atmosphere was welcoming and friendly, and the service was fast. The eggrolls were hot and extremely fresh. The portion sizes were incredibly large. We also tried the fried dumplings for appetizers and they were cooked very well. We ordered two dinners but we could have easily gotten away with one dish. VERY impressed. We will be returning to this restaurant.

Best Chinese place I've ever been to! I can't believe I've lived in Lancaster for 30 years and I didn't know about this place. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is excellent. The man at the front that walks you back is very friendly and welcoming. Portions are absolutely gigantic and the dinners include dessert and soup and an egg roll! Starting with my soup, it was a freshly made wonton soup with great flavor and ingredients. The egg roll was easily the best I had ever had, I'm not a big fan of egg rolls but I ate the entire thing. There were real whole shrimp inside it. I ordered Mongolian beef, and the beef was so tender it melted in my mouth. Pretty much every other Chinese restaurant I've been to, the beef is always rubbery. Not here! You can tell they use the freshest highest quality ingredients they can find. Our server was extremely attentive and even asked me if the food was spiced to my liking. Amazing place, I will be back for sure! I can't go anywhere else for Chinese now. It's been there since 1980 and there's no question why. Great food and great service go a long way! Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Excellent food and very reasonably priced. Unlike some Chinese restaurants which focus on delivery or takeout, this place has ample seating in a cozy environment. The staff are very friendly and service is prompt. This is an ideal place for a nice family meal. They also accommodate large groups which can be nice. We recommend it to anyone!

This place is outstanding. It's like an old traditional Chinese restaurant you'd find in a big city in their Chinatown. Food is authentic and amazing. The hot and sour soup is a must. All food is freshly prepared and to order. Have not tried take out but it seems they have a thriving take out business. We chose to eat there bc of how far we love, but the place is a super clean more upscale Chinese restaurant.

We have eaten there numerous times in the past and it was very good, last night it was horrible. We had very poor service; they forgot our appetizers, drinks, silverware and gave us the wrong food. There were carts of dirty dishes left sitting in the dining area one right beside our table. The food was bland, room temperature and did not get any better on their second attempt to prep it. The sauces were all thin and tasteless and the protions were no where as large as they have been. The staff were all young and preoccupied with their smart phones, they seemed less interested in customer service then what is acceptable. 4 months ago I would have recommeded this resturant to anyone after last night I would tell them save their money and go to a local "strip mall" chinese take out the food would be better.

The better Chinese food in Lancaster pa.. Large portions and very good food. They have a lot of local food awards. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for more then just typical take out Chinese. I recommend reservations since they are so popular.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
