Fenz is a welcome addition to Lancaster. The food above average, the drinks tasty and decor excellent. We love the outdoor section upstairs. We've been here probably about 5-6 times in the past few months. However, the last time we were here, the bartender made some disparaging remarks about a large party that was finishing a birthday dinner upstairs...and ordering a few more drinks than he thought was necessary. It seemed a little odd to us, and slightly unprofessional, especially since the party was a group of pretty well behaved people mostly in their 40s, and weren't disturbing anyone. We'll keep coming back for dinner, but probably go elsewhere if we want to have more than 1 drink.

DATE: 02/20/09 ATMOSPHERE: Posh, contemporary, upscale, interesting, colorful. PROS: Superb service. Knowledgeable staff. Could use a few more vegetarian options but the staff is more than willing to accomidate and I was told they will be expanding their veggie menu soon. Delicious, exciting, new American cuisine with some twisted classics thrown in. Obviously owned and managed by people who are always striving for excellence. CONS: Drinks were a little small and I've had better...not bad but not stellar. Several tables too close to the front door that was drafty and cold. No major complaints. WILL I GO BACK? Yes. UPDATE: Recently visited Fenz again on December 23rd and they now have an entire vegetarian and vegan-friendly menu available! This new menu consists of 8-12 specialty items that the chefs can prepare for anyone who asks so if you are veggie, be sure to ask about it! Big props to Fenz for being so progressive and vegetarian-freindly!

Fenz is an excellent place for a drink in Lancaster. Perfect for either a date night or a low key evening with friends. This is one of the few "upper scale" drinking places in Lancaster city, so take advantage! I have yet to have a full sit down dinner at Fenz, so my review is only for the snacks, drinks, and atmosphere. Generally it is crowded from after work into the late evening. The cocktails are amazing and not over priced as you may think! (around $7.00 average) The atmosphere is chic and modern but also cozy at the same time. Think dim lights, warm colors, and comfortable couches, and cushioned chairs. People are wearing anything from casual to dressy attire. You HAVE to try the pickle fries and the chocolate mouse, TO DIE FOR!

We made the return trip to Fenz in Lancaster last Friday, having dined there for our anniversary two years ago. Why did we wait so long in between? This place is six-star good. Everyone was friendly and warm, from beginning to end. Service was efficient and solicitous. The carpaccio appetizer was probably the high point of my meal, not because the rest was not good, but because it was so fantastic! Cream of asparagus soup and bouillabaisse were both delicious, and dessert sampler contained the most amazing salted caramel chocolate mousse I have ever tasted. (Not to self: next time skip the sampler and get the mousse!) My dining companions were very happy with their house Caesar salad, fillet and cheesecake, and stuffed breast of veal. Lancaster is such a fabulous restaurant town, how are we ever going to explore all the possibilities when Fenz catches us just as we are entering? Great restaurant experience!

We have only lived in Lancaster for a few months and although we have driven by this place several times we had not heard about it. We were going out with some friends that heard a lot about this place so Fenz it was with a party of 6. We were escorted upstairs to the bar to have a few drinks before being sat (we had a 6 o'clock reservation). Their sangria's were fabulous! I was looking around to what others were wearing and it really did seem like a casual atmosphere, a couple of the other patrons were dress up to the whole nine but you really do not need a cocktail dress or a tie at this place! After about 15 minutes at the bar we were sat at our table which was really close to the bar. We were all a little surprised at our seats to be honest. You look around and all the seats for the tables and bars were cushioned with this nice fabric to them as well. It looked like we were the only table upstairs with clear plastic lawn chairs with no cushion at all. I am sure this was done from a designer stand point but the chairs while they looked nice and decorative were not comfortable at all. I kept looking over at the other customers all relaxed sitting back in their nice cushioned seats while all of us were repositioning every few minutes. Now on to the food! One of the couples with us ordered the ahi tuna appetizer with a wasabi sauce and they loved it. Myself and the other couple ordered the portabella mushroom with mozzarella appetizer that had a roasted tomato coulis and while it was okay to me the mushroom lacked seasoning and it was almost like the dishes were in the window for a bit because the mozzarella was not even stringy or hot but the sauce was delicious. My husband and one of the other guests ordered the Caesar salad. The one guest asked for extra dressing when ordering and they forgot that. My husband LOVES Caesar salad and eats it all the time and this one sadly lacked flavor. What I did like is they added time in between the food delivery so we were able to talk for a good 15 minutes before our entrees came out. 2 of the guests ordered the Ravioli and both of them loved their dish. My husband ordered the sea scallops and had no complaints either! The other 3 of us had the fillet special and I was really disappointed to be honest. The mushroom sauce on top of my fillet was cool not warm but cool, the asparagus and my vegetable fritters were warm though. I could tell the fillet was waiting for a while in the window on the other sides. I ordered my steak medium and it was defiantly medium well. I hate having to chew and chew my steak due to the overcooking which was most likely due to sitting in the window. I will say the steak was seasoned very well but it was just overdone and that was the real let down for me. For dessert 1 couple along with ourselves got the tiramisu which was actually from a local chocolatier and while it was in an interesting oval shape encased in dark chocolate it was very good just not like a tradition tiramisu. The other couple had a sampler which had 3 different desserts and they loved it. It was defiantly a hit or miss with it on our experience. I am defiantly glad we tried it and maybe I will go back in the future but it was a bit disappointing for me this time.

We went here for the first time earlier this week. For a mid-week evening it was happening. Good thing we had a reservation! The ambiance is great. And the food we had was great--fresh, creative and well plated. Everything tasted great. The service was attentive. I'm only giving 3 stars because my fine dining experience requires one more element...equally fabulous and creative cocktails. I don't know if the server was off or what but the cocktails weren't just mediocre...they were bad. While I'm sure there are some folk that might consider them acceptable...in a town with the sort of top drawer cocktail options you can get pretty much in the same block as this place...I don't know that I'd come back unless I was certain this was improved substantially.

I can't say enough about Fenz! We visited on Valentine's Day. Started our dinner with the best deviled eggs I've ever eaten. Our Party had the seared tuna, short ribs, tilefish and I have the meatloaf. Yes, meatloaf And Mac and cheese for Valentine's Day. It was fantastic! It was a snowy and windy night so it was perfect! We also had the beet salad and they spilt it for us, no extra charge. For dessert, I had the limoncello parfait which I would go back for. Can't wait to go back! Special shout out to our waiter/bar tender Dustin who was the BEST!!! The place is really decorated nicely and Is very comfortable .

First time eating here, and I loved it! We sat upstairs, the atmosphere was lovely and warm. We ordered a bunch of appetizers- deviled eggs, tuna, and bruschetta, all of which were very tasty; my only complaint overall is that the deviled egg serving only had 3 halves, and that seemed strange to me, I think it should have 4 halves (2 whole eggs), but that's just my opinion. I ordered the quinoa/farro salad and added grilled salmon to it... The salad was excellent! Flavorful, interesting, filling! I highly recommend it! I also ordered the cheese board, flight of 5; excellent variety of cheeses, with toasts and fig preserves, we had fun taste testing everything. Great service, very attentive, everyone seemed happy with all of their food.

FENZ fried pickles appetizer is the only good food item I've tried on their menu to date. I've given this place three tries and it has never delivered. My last meal was served on the cold side with no flavor, like it was sitting too long waiting to be served at the table, granted it was a vegetarian dish but it lacked any sort of character.

Love the hip, trendy feel in this restaurant. They even have a cute little rooftop deck area. I sampled several of the appetizers and they were all fantastic. My main course was great too. Great mixed drinks and wine menu. Fair prices!

I rarely write a bad review however, when we walked in received a cold hello from an old guy at the hostess. We asked for a table for 3 and he just walked away with menus didn't say a word so we assumed that was our seat. He disappeared, I put my purse down and went to ladies room and returned with no service present yet. We sat at the table for counted 15 minutes and had not a single person approach us so we got up and left totally unnoticed. Perhaps it was a bad night for Fenz but we went to John Jeffries and had great service & food!

One of the coolest restaurants I've been too. The wait staff was top notch, very well trained and the food was excellent. The ambience of the restaurant was very intimate, but with the bar so close to our table, we heard a lot of loud people there. We did wait a little longer for our food, but it was worth the wait! Definitely will come back again.

Enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and service! First, I really enjoyed sitting on the outdoor patio. The view of the property across the street wasn't the best, but you could see the ballpark which was nice. Ordered the meatloaf with Mac and cheese. It must have been an off night for the meatloaf, which I found limp flavorless and a bit depressing. The Mac and cheese on the other hand was one of the best I've ever had (sorry mom!) and I wish I'd taken some home for later. Great service too!

Fenz Restaurant was one of the only restaurant's that was open during the late night hours in the Lancaster area. My wife and I order the Fried Pickles, Spinach & Beet Salad, Julie's Meatloaf, & Steamed Mussels. The ambiance made it feel like you were in a hip lounge with multiple bars and TVs showing the football games. My reviews per dish is as follows: Fried Pickles - 5***** Spinach & Beet Salad - 3*** Julie's Meatloaf - 3*** Steamed Mussels - 3*** The staff service was 3.5*** Have fun eating!

Not only is this one of my favorite restaurants in Lancaster, this may be one of my favorite in the continental USA. The food is creative, yet guaranteed to be delicious. Some favorites are the olive platter, the pickle fries, the meatloaf, the Kobe burger, and any of the small plates. Even the simple Caesar salad tastes innovative and interesting. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Needed to find a place that was open for an early dinner, and this was very close to Mean Cup. As in pretty much next door close. I walked in, and it was empty except for a manager type, but then again, it was a bit after 4 (even my grandparents didn't eat this early, but I knew I'd be going nonstop until after 8 and then had a drive to make). Can't say the man who greeted me was exactly warm. I was offered a choice of the downstairs bar or the upstairs bar. Perhaps if I'd asked for a table I might have gotten one, but the bar was fine; I was in a hurry anyway. I was seated, and the bartender took care of me. Super nice, great to talk to, very good server--made up for the manager/maitre d's demeanor. No complaints there. I was having a bit of a burger craving, and he recommended their Fenz Burger. I ordered it medium rare with blue cheese and swapped out the fries for asparagus. Took a little while, but I'd given myself plenty of time. The burger was, as they say, A-OK, and for $14, I expect a little better than OK. It was more medium, and while I had originally sworn off any condiments--thinking that the blue cheese and whatever they naturally did to it would be enough--it really wasn't. So I got some ketchup. I also should have pulled off some of the raw red onion, which was a bit overwhelming. I mentioned to the maitre d' that some caramelized onions would have been great on it. I didn't get the impression he was overly enthused by my suggestion, though I said something as well to the bartender, who told me the staff plays around with the burgers after hours, and that since caramelized onions are in some of their other setups, they could easily swap those in next time. Good to know, though too late to help me this time. The asparagus were OK, though the problem with cooking asparagus of fairly uneven size is that you can get a fairly uneven cook. And they did. Deviled egg was likewise OK. My friend's neighbor makes a rock star version of deviled eggs, and this wasn't quite as good as his. In any case, the bottom line: pleasant environment, one great server (the bartender), one coulda been nicer guy (the manager/maitre d'), and food that was A-OK but not super special.

Went here for restaurant week in Lancaster. This place, the waitstaff runs like a well oiled machine. Everything is perfectly timed, no table had a dirty plate left on it for more then a few moments. Food is delivered hot and tasty. Drinks are made just the way you want them. Nice selection of deserts. Can't wait for the summer to arrive to be able to try their deck area.

This restaurant is hands down the best restaurant in Lancaster. Their food is superb! Love love love the beet salad. Burgers are great! Truffle fries- you can't stop eating them! Seasonal specials are so interesting and delightful. Atmosphere is beautiful and they outdo themselves at Christmas. You must not miss this culinary delight!!

I ordered the $20 fried chicken. The chicken took over 30 minutes to come out. It was burnt and one of the pieces hadn't been dabbed off or let to drip dry so it was covered in grease. The bartender was nice enough to comp me for my beer because of the wait. The person I was with got the spare ribs and he loved them. I should call Gordon Ramsay on this place. How do you charge $20 for fried chicken, ruin it, then serve it? Love that chicken at Popeyes!

Decided to give this place a second chance after being like 'eh' a few years ago. Last night was first chance wife and I were able to get out since having our son four months ago. It was phenomenal. We had the pickle fries, mussels in white wine sauce, and both the hanger steak with cornbread puree and chimichuri sauce. Great flavors and cooked perfectly. James was a great waiter. Only thing I could say would be that I understand it is moreso a martini bar, but they could carry more than three beers (Bells two hearted ale was great, only other choices are/were Yuengling and Stella). Also was hoping there would be a white fish on the menu. I would recommend sticking to steaks or fish here though for entree... had paella time before and wife the meatloaf with neither of us impressed that time. All in all solid choice, but a lot of local competition.

I've been here a few times but the last time we were here, I was less than impressed. I like how you get a choice of 3 rolls but neither the buttermilk biscuit nor the pumpernickel roll was good in my opinion. Both were on the dry side, and the pumpernickel one was super strong and the biscuit had hardly any flavor, except almost too sour. The food was also fair. We shared a farro salad as a first course, which we thought was going to be mainly greens and farro and other items mixed in, but instead the main ingredient was farro. It was a good salad, just heavy with the other entrees we ordered. We also got the dressing on the side, which probably would have been way to heavily dressed if we hadn't. It was a thick dressing but good. One entree we ordered was the pasta bolognese. This was extremely salty, but the pasta was perfectly cooked. The other dish we ordered was the meatloaf, which was too homogenous, bready, and as a result many bites were mushy. There were a few crisper bites on the ends. It was a very big, generous portion. The green beans were cooked nicely and not too oily. The macaroni and cheese it came with was very good but also very rich. I think it'd be nice if this place changed up its menu once in awhile.

Doubt I'll come back here. This was another business dinner, and I was embarrassed that I suggested Fenz, although the last time was OK. This time the fried pickles were over-fried to the point of having no flavor. Our entrees were quite delicious, we had the chicken, the Bolognese, and the rockfish special. Unfortunately there was an hour wait between the salad and the main course. James (who started out great) disappeared off the face of the earth. I apologized to my guests, and got up to find him, just as the entrees were being delivered. He mumbled something about a large party, but did not make it clear if the kitchen was behind, or that he was over-burdened. We decided not to continue with the dessert course etc., as we didn't know how long it would take. Really put a damper on a fine day and evening.

Nice atmosphere at this restaurant. Upstairs is more fun than downstairs". It's a bar, and it can get crowded. Food is fine, but the menu is nothing special.

Not a fan. Been there a few times and like any other bad habit; afterwards I say, "why did I do that?" The last straw for me was recently I was there with a friend ordering martinis and the bartender took it upon himself to upcharge the drinks with premium vodka. When we went to pay the bill he only gave us the 2 summary copies of the receipt. It wasn't until I asked for the detailed receipt that I learned he was dinging us an extra $1.50 per drink with premium vodka. Slim Shady at your service.....

This restaurant gets an extra star just for being open for dinner at 9:45.....not too many places around Lancaster serve food that late. The decor here is very chic and the service was also quite attentive. The food was ok....not AMAZING....but quite good. Def try the pickled fries....they're very tasty. I read quite a few reviews that mentioned that that meatloaf was delicious....but I thought it was just ok.....perhaps it's better to stick to the "basic" things on the menu. Great place to grab a drink and chill with your friends.

Our second visit, and last... The two guys at the door should really decide if they want to be in the business, be happy toward your customers; as a restaurant service to the public, you are required to have a good night, every night; your faces and demeanor told me what kind of night you were having and I was not interested in joining your grumpy mood! Fenz should also choose if the upstairs bar is a bar or a restaurant - the crowd around the bar is unsuitable for dining, especially at a table next to the bar, and the noise is overwhelming - we could not hear our server or ourselves... The lobster bisque was delicious but only lukewarm, spoils the experience... The scallop special was overpriced and undercooked...its lobster risotto had no flavor...and if one scallop out of three is one-half the size, you should probably not serve it... Four cups of cappuccino after dinner served cold, cold...sent them back... As for our departure, the checked coats didn't get a ticket but you insisted that you "sent one up" to us. Don't tell me what you think you did or didn't do, direct your annoyance to your staff, or whoever you think you gave the ticket to, to "send it up"... In closing, I will applaud the grilled filet - it was extremely tasteful and prepared perfectly.

Fantastic atmosphere and wonderful atmosphere. Steve is a fantastic bartender who is personable and knowledgable. The scallops were fantastic as well as the corn risotto. The zucchini and quinoa succotash was less than fantastic but still ok. Will definitely be back here in a very near future.

From France, having dinner with friends from the area. We did found the place really nice and both food and service was great. Only exception was the noise : Was just impossible to have a good conversation. Maybe better not to be on first floor. The ravioli I had as appetizer were very tasty and the Filet I got following was just great! Chocolate mousse was Ok but I'm sorry to say that this is not loaded enough with dark chocolate. Chocolat is really not in my standard : too much sugar. we recommand it, even with the noise problem.

Great place. Food is very good and reasonably priced. I recommend heading upstairs and eating at the bar, the bartenders are excellent and there is usually a pretty interesting crowd. Only one TV but not a bad place to watch a game if its not too crowded.
Once again, Fenz has wowed me. Great service by Christine, the bartender, and fantastic food. We shared the cheese ensemble which was provided by the local Savory Gourmet. Nice touch having the descriptions accompany the cheese so we know what we're having. I had the quinoa fritters over the corn and edamame ragout. Such a nice vegetarian option! Fresh and delicious! The desserts were also great, chocolate three way and a warm ricotta cake. We will be back for more local fare!

Since moving up here about a year ago, this is one of my favorite places I've found. Really good service and a cool vibe in the small bar area upstairs. The pickle fries are a must have, and I've ordered the meatloaf a couple of times and loved it. Meatloaf will always be an underrated entree in my book and Fenz version is phenomenal. It has lots of wild mushrooms and a really rich gravy. Give it a shot, you'll thank me.

The waiter was great until the host and the owner kept glaring at us to leave and free up the table we were sitting at. It's one thing for them to tell my coworkers and I that the table is reserved for dine in only and it's another to sit us and we order two rounds of drinks and appetizers and left before 7:30pm. They never told us that it was reserved for dine in only. We would have ever asked for a table if that was the case. That put a damper on our evening after our holiday party. I will not go back there ever again. The waiter was very apologetic and said that is not the case at all and said that they sat us and should honor the table rather than making us feel like we were taking up space. It was such snobby move on their part, like we were not worth their time or the fact that we were the only multicultural people there. It was very shameful on their part to make us feel like we didn't belong.

Went there on a recommendation of a friend. My husband had the burger he said it was delicious. I liked their presentation. I had potato leek soup which was delicious and the chopped salad ( I like the chopped salad at the Bulls Head in Lititz more). The drinks were good and the service was excellent. Will return.

We enjoyed our evening and our meal. Would recommend that you ask to sit upstairs. Our expectations for the upcoming meal were lowered when, prior to ordering, our drink order was served. My partner's a an attractively presented summer cocktail. Mine, a can of beer placed on the table sans glass. Come on!

Went there on 6/21 - Friday night. Food was excellent and service was the same. I had the meatloaf with snap peas and mac & cheese. The mac and cheese was excellent with the bread crumbs on top. We sat upstairs - the upstairs was extremely comfortable and chairs were relaxing to sit at! Thanks!

My husband and I went here for our third anniversary this weekend. At 35 weeks pregnant, I was looking for a place that was low key but upscale. We walked in and were immediately greeted and seated (LOVE the old school charm of having my chair pulled out for me!) The service was friendly and the food selection was varied without being too exotic (you know the type) and the portions were HUGE. My 6'4" husband was even full! We made a reservation, and I would suggest doing the same as the seating is limited. As we were sitting there, my husband mentioned it was hard to believe we were still sitting in Lancaster County and not somewhere like Philly or NYC. We will CERTAINLY be back again!

Fenz has been my favorite go-to restaurant for over 3 years. I try other places but always come back. They have great waiters and staff....accommodating and knowledgeable. The outdoor patio is nice in the summer and I prefer upstairs for dining....downstairs is a little more formal. Great wines, and the best lamb chops ever! Nice for romantic dinners as well as a night out with the girls.

We celebrated my daughter's birthday dinner this week at Fenz. There were four of us and we each had something different. I had the Watermelon Gazpacho, yummie and the Tuna entree, my sister had the Jumbo Shrimp entree, my granddaughter had the Meatloaf w/ Mac and Cheese. The birthday girl had Crab and Corn Chowder, Beet Salad w/ Scallops. All meals were very good but too salty for our tastes, even the rolls were salted. I have read reviews on this site and others about people receiving arrogant service at Fenz and want to report we did not have this experience. The hostess was friendly on our arrival and departure, the waiter was cute, helpful and very friendly. He picked up on some of our jokes and contributed to the humor. It was a very enjoyable evening.

This was my second visit to Fenz. The first time, about a year ago, the food, service and atmosphere was spectacular. There were ten in our party during that visit and I believe everyone ordered something different. Every person raved about the food. Last evening my husband and I dined at Fenz. We were seated at a table downstairs in a quite corner, which was nice. However, for whatever reason, my chair was not one of the nice upholstered chairs that everyone in the dining room had. My chair was a cheap plastic outdoor chair that was cold and uncomfortable. Sorry, if this seems petty, but if I'm paying over $100 for dinner the least you could do is give me a decent chair. The drinks were good, as usual. My husband ordered the filet which was cooked to perfection. I ordered the halibut special which was mediocre. I wouldn't recommend it but I wouldn't say it was the worst thing I've eaten either. The highlight of the meal was the spinach and beet salad. It was incredible. I could make a meal out of three of those! At the end of the day, I would say that, yes, we'll probably go back again sometime. But, my favorite restaurant on a similar scale remains The Belvedere.

I'm in Lancaster on business, and the major thing my coworkers had raved about were the great restaurants. Night one was Fenz. The atmosphere, as mentioned, is very modern and colorful. However there was still something a little bit generic feeling - like a "fancy" hotel restaurant. Not sure. It was cute, though. They had several unique, designer touches that made the place stand out. Our waiter was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful (and maybe just a little bit arrogant). He was able to explain, in detail, about virtually any menu item and knew some answers when my male coworkers asked about the Port at the end of the night. Everyone was really pleased with their dishes. One coworker had a steak special with lobster risotto, and he was thrilled. Another had the ravioli with butter sauce - she seemed to really enjoy it. Scallops were somewhere on the table too. Not a big red meat or seafood eater myself, I had a rice and beans curry dish off their vegetarian menu (you have to ask for it separate). It was okay, just a little bland, but such is often the case with vegetarian dishes. I had the tomato soup for an appetizer and found it to be really hearty and delicious - enough to warm me up, for sure - but just couldn't finish it. The peanut butter pie at the end of the night was amazing. So rich and so good. "I'm not going to have any" turned into probably half the slice. The only strike against them was that they cleared one person's plate while the rest of us were eating. That's a big pet peeve. Overall, not too shabby Fenz. Lancaster is growing on me.

Love the look of this place. Very romantic, but a good place to go with friends as well. Can get noisy on busy nights. Very good staff, but it changes rather frequently. Well run operation, very good menu. I've been pleased with all the dinners Iv'e had there. Prices a high, but in line with other places of this caliber. Good bar selection, nice wine list. My biggest problem is with the upstairs bar. Good service can be spotty at times.

The hostess at the door was very warm and charming you could tell she loves her job. The atmosphere is very laid back and quiet. The food was okay. I ordered the scallops and I thought they were supposed to be seared but to my dismay they were not. They almost tasted boiled. The meatloaf however was light and perfect. I would go here again...ordering something other than scallops.

The food was OK but I expected better. I found the green onions in my dish to be very chewy. I also found my fish unevenly cooked. Sections were dry while others were perfect. The cheese offering was great along with the wine. I also didn't like you could see back into the server's prep area from the table we sat at.... I'll probably give them a second try sometime.

I used to take every out of town visitor to Fenz and declared it my favorite place, but on the last three occasions I have gone there, they have disappointed me immensely. Although I have been there numerous times for traditional dinner, I work in the entertainment industry and am usually not out of work until later in the evening. Although Fenz publicizes itself as a "late night" establishment, I have found this to be untrue. On one occasion, I went by myself around 9 at night. I sat at the bar, and although the bartender assured me that they would be open for quite some time, two servers were complaining loudly nearby about a two top making a reservation for 9:30 and how that meant they would "never get out of there". The next time, I brought a friend with me who had never been before. I bought a $50 bottle of wine and some food and although the server, again, assured me that they were open for late night, he asked if he could send the cook home, and proceeded to stack all of the chairs on the tables surrounding us. He also took the food off of our table before we were finished. It was only about 10 o'clock when we were asked to pay. The final straw was about two weeks ago when a friend and I walked in the door around 9:45. We were met by a man who told us that the kitchen had closed 15 minutes ago. I questioned him as to their advertised "late night" status and he did not have an answer. I was astounded that he did not offer anything... I'm sure there was something on the menu that didn't require the kitchen to be open. And at that point, I would have been happy with just a cocktail. So although the fried pickles are great and the blueberry pizza is amazing, I will never go back to Fenz. I had guests in town this past weekend and where I normally would have taken them to Fenz, we went downtown instead.

We went here the other night for dinner. Make sure you know you can park in back. We were driving around the front parking lot forever looking for a spot to park. The staff was courteous. I liked the atmosphere. Laid back and trendy. I got the portobella mushroom appetizer, it was very good! For dinner, I got the filet. The mushrooms on top were cold, but the steak was cooked perfectly and was delicious. There were vegetable fritters on the side that I also enjoyed! My tiramisu desert was done by a local chocolatier and was in a chocolate shell. The chocolate was delicious, but unfortunately I didn't get a lot of tiramisu flavor, mostly chocolate. The shell overpowered the dessert. I recommend the Sangria, if you like a light fruity drink! It was very good! I will definately go back, because after we had ordered we saw some fried pickles, that were on the bar menu, that I definately have to try next time.

Wow, what a hip and happening place right here in little Lancaster. The only reason I don't give Fenz 5 stars is the price/quality of the food. Just a bit high priced given the quality if the food to be completely honest. I have dined all over America in some of the finest restaurants and this is a good one, not perfect, but good. Decor is great, atmosphere is great, service is great, drinks are great and the food is good. I'll definitely be back...
Absolutely horrible! They have gotten horrible over the past few months. I don't know if there was a change in ownership or what. The food is flavorless and horrible presentation. If you are not dressed in a million dollar outfit they do not treat you with respect the entire evening. John J Jeffries will soon be getting twice as much business.

What am I missing? For a place that is consistently rated 4 stars on yelp I'm very let down. From the moment we walked in the door we were treated like we weren't wanted. The man at the door looked at his table chart for 2 minutes, making a lot of noises and using his yellow highlighter before he finally decided we did indeed deserve a table. Should we have been grateful? The lobster rolls were made with frozen lobster. The entrees were swimming in oil with no seasoning. The music was very late 80's club techno. Everything was just bad. I don't understand how this place is rated so highly. Someone explain what I'm missing please.

We had driven by this interesting building on our way to the Ethiopian restaurant and thought it might be a nightclub. But on Yelp, we found out that Fenz has a separate vegetarian menu, many items of which are vegan -- we got right on the phone to make a reservation! This is very progressive for a city such as Lancaster which has no vegetarian restaurants. I found out from the owner that she is a holistic health counselor who appreciates healthy choices. I'd love to see this part of their business promoted more, because we are opting less often to go to places where we have to have dishes customized, when funds are limited. And our non-veg friends like to sample quality vegan dishes too for their health and for weight control. More of this please, Fenz, because people are indeed on the lookout for upscale vegan and are willing to pay for it. Consider giving the veg menu out to everyone and see what happens. The veg underground spreads a good word quickly! Fenz is in a beautifully-restored architecturally-cool historic brick building with a varied history. The decor is very hip with interesting art and great colors. I can't wait to go back for their happy hour, where drinks and bar food are all half-price, and I look forward to visiting the patio. Superb service. The owner took our coats as soon as we walked in, and our waiter was very friendly and elegant and enthusiastic about our menu choices. It's nice when your alternative diet gets a little love. Btw, I feel vegans should be sure to tip well, because they might not order the big ticket items omnivores might, and we want good servers to work in places that offer more choices. Luckily, we jack up our bill with drinks. I had a Curry Lo Mein, crispy slabs of tofu cooked perfectly. BF had an amazing Asian Stir Fry with delicate rice noodles and an incredible chili soy sauce that we wish we could replicate, nice heat too. For an appetizer, we shared the pickle fries, different and delicious, but a huge portion. I don't understand complaints about portion size. Very nice wine list too, and reasonable by-the-glass prices of mostly $7-8. No White Zinfandel or Yellowtail, thank you! We will be back with friends!

It was great service, good atmosphere, ok food, horrible prices. For what I paid I was expecting to get JJJ quality food but it was just ok. I'd rather spend my money on a restaurant that will wow me. But for a cocktail hour I would go back and order something light with a drink or two

Good experience on our first visit to Fenz. We had drinks and food at the bar last night and the service was great. Food and drinks were quite tasty. The blueberry pizza and spinach/beet salad were tasty! My only negative comment of Fenz was the lack of a drink menu. We will definitely go again when we are in the Lancaster area.

I come to FENZ often. They have two large bars, plenty of seating and an outdoor terrace. I've enjoyed everything I've ordered - try the shoe string fries with truffle oil and lemon cake! They are always mixing up new, and creative cocktails and have a large selection of wines. The price is moderate and dress is sophisticated casual. Plus they provide off-street parking! FENZ is a must if you are visiting Lancaster!

I echo a lot of the sentiments written here by others. The decor here is trendy and upscale. The atmosphere is charming and inviting. The menu is full of the kinds of things you would expect to see in this price range. Lots of seasonal and fresh fare with a focus on the exotic. The food was quite good, as was our table service. The table service was great, but we had a bad taste in our mouth from the hostess. Despite having reservations, she insisted we eat our entire dinner at the bar (on stools!), even though I had mentioned that this was a special birthday dinner when I booked it.

I travel to Lancaster from San Francisco (one of the great restaurant cities in the US) and I think Fenz rates right up there as one of the best restaurants in Lancaster. It's attractive, comfortable, upscale, and the food is good quality. The service is OK but not great, although I had a great experience one night when I ate at the bar (upstairs) with Joe tending the bar. I would recommend Fenz to anyone coming to Lancaster.

This place has been open about a year, opened by a guy who knows the restaurant biz inside out, as the manager of one of Lancaster's top restaurants for 20 years. This is a very nice, kinda upscale place. Kinda modern decor, cool lighting, hip place, that also has meatloaf and mashed potatoes on the menu!!! The menu is short. I like that -- a few things that are good. The owner, Bob, takes your dining experience, personally. This is his first place; well anticipated by the Lancaster restaurant community. JESSE S. review is very accurate. Reservations recommended. Upstairs bar is a good spot.

Ill give it 3 stars for decor and friendliness since I didnt actually eat there.. ---------- FOOD: It wasnt open for dinner yet, so I didnt get to eat. SERVICE: I did speak with a guy doing papers at the bar and he was very friendly. DECOR: They have an outdoor deck on the top of the building, and a restaurant on the other 2 floors. Its very modern feeling, and definitely a "night" place. They dont open until 4pm tuesday -saturday. ---------- FINAL THOUGHTS: Being more of a lunch person, I might not get to eat here for awhile. But when it is on my list..

This is a decent date spot for a slightly fancier dinner than most Lancaster restaurants provide. The food and service were excellent with the exception of having to wait for a table to be cleared despite arriving at the time of our reservation.

The atmosphere and decor are the best in Lancaster! Super trendy and chic. I love the pickle fries on the bar menu (the best I've ever had). They always serve seasonal and fresh specials. Their meat and seafood dishes are incredible. Definitely order the pot roast, they elevate this dish to beyond delicious.

It's not the best, but it's good. We've been here twice, and it hasn't been outstanding. Our food has come out "warm" both times. I think the place looks and feels nicer than the food they serve.

Fenz is a hip restaurant in an old brick warehouse in Lancaster. The restaurant has 2 level as well as a small outdoor searing area. The menu was creative and our dishes were excellently prepared and delicious. My wife's salmon had a perfect crust while the inside was tender and moist. My pork dish was tender with just enough spice to make it unique, without over powering the flavor. The staff was very friendly, courteous and attentive. The restaurant and its bar started to fill up comfortably around 8p on this summer Saturday evening. Definitely consider giving Fenz a try if you are looking for a great meal in Lancaster.

This is by far the best place for a drink and dining! My favorite place in Lancaster PA. A few must haves: the spicy bloody mary, key lime martini, blueberry pizza, Julie's meatloaf. I have had things here that I usually would never eat and all of them have been outstanding. If you see a bad review of this place - well, I won't say it because I am certain that you can't please everyone all the time but you can certainly try and they go out of their way to make you welcome and feel at home.

Review is for latenight: You know what, for LANCASTER, this place is pretty poppin'. Let's be honest, is there anything else REMOTELY close to this kind of place in Lancaster? NOPE! It's cute, they play good music and the crowd was mixed. I had fun the one time I went.

Love the hip, trendy feel in this restaurant. They even have a cute little rooftop deck area. I sampled several of the appetizers and they were all fantastic. My main course was great too. Great mixed drinks and wine menu. Fair prices!

It's not the best, but it's good. We've been here twice, and it hasn't been outstanding. Our food has come out "warm" both times. I think the place looks and feels nicer than the food they serve.

It was great service, good atmosphere, ok food, horrible prices. For what I paid I was expecting to get JJJ quality food but it was just ok. I'd rather spend my money on a restaurant that will wow me. But for a cocktail hour I would go back and order something light with a drink or two

Review is for latenight: You know what, for LANCASTER, this place is pretty poppin'. Let's be honest, is there anything else REMOTELY close to this kind of place in Lancaster? NOPE! It's cute, they play good music and the crowd was mixed. I had fun the one time I went.

Love the hip, trendy feel in this restaurant. They even have a cute little rooftop deck area. I sampled several of the appetizers and they were all fantastic. My main course was great too. Great mixed drinks and wine menu. Fair prices!

I love the martinis here. Their bar bites are great. Atmosphere is nice. No complaints here.

Went with friends for dinner. Classy environment. The food is really nice. When it comes to dessert, women always have another stomach:)

(5)Daphne M.
(5)Jeff M.

(4)R M.

(1)Jon L.
Amazing food. Great service. Nice atmosphere. Good choice for one of those fancier date nights or a group celebration. My wife and I enjoy every course, every time.
(5)Tom H.
Nice atmosphere at this restaurant. Upstairs is more fun than downstairs". It's a bar, and it can get crowded. Food is fine, but the menu is nothing special.
(4)Kevin B.
(2)Olga T.
(4)Jim B.
(1)Jason K.
(5)Fabrice L.
(4)Paul B.
Great place. Food is very good and reasonably priced. I recommend heading upstairs and eating at the bar, the bartenders are excellent and there is usually a pretty interesting crowd. Only one TV but not a bad place to watch a game if its not too crowded.
(4)Britt L.
This place has phenomenal food! The pumpkin ravioli dish was outstanding as was the beet salad. The pumpkin creme brûlée with pumpkin bread pudding was also pretty fabulous! Yummy fall menu for sure and several vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options.
(5)Amy B.
(5)Kyle S.
(4)M L.
(1)Maureen L.
(4)James P.
Come on!
(4)Charles Z.
Thanks!
(5)Libbie G.
(5)Kelly I.
(5)Beth B.
A simply stylish and delicious dining experience!

(3)Bron M.

Wow sorry it took so long to get here. Skip and his crew were flawless with our group of 11 on Saturday night

(3)Steve P.
(4)Jessica B.
(4)Rick W.
(3)PeggyOlivia S.
(2)Stacey K.
(3)Mason H.
(4)Chuck W.
I'd heard good things about Fenz and was looking forward to eating there. The establishment itself and the overall vibe is positive. Very stylish yet friendly and cozy. The food, however, left much to be desired. Drinks were adequate, but the paella was run of the mill, with the clams and mussels were so overcooked that they were dry, and the edges of the shells were burned. The shrimp had a slightly off taste, and the rice was clumped in spots. Edible but I wouldn't recommend it or order it again. My wife's filet, ordered medium rare, was also overcooked and not particularly flavorful. On the plus side, the creme brûlée was excellent and the coffee very good. The server was friendly but less than fully attentive. I might try it again, but I was far from impressed.
(2)S M.
(1)Zoey M.
(1)Kimba Z.
(4)Dan P.
It was great service, good atmosphere, ok food, horrible prices. For what I paid I was expecting to get JJJ quality food but it was just ok. I'd rather spend my money on a restaurant that will wow me. But for a cocktail hour I would go back and order something light with a drink or two
(3)Lisa E.
Delicious food cooked to order, organized friendly wait staff ..great drinks. Don't forget to order the fried pickles..one of the best in Lancaster.
(5)Tiffany I.
(4)Victoria M.
(5)Michael W.
(4)Matthew T.
Overall a very cool place with simple and pleasing decor. The service was excellent, drinks were good, appetizers were excellent.
(4)Rick B.
(4)Rick H.
(4)george a.
(3)Brett B.

Fenz is a nice place for dinner or just drinks. My husband and I went here,in Nov.We both loved the food. We had pickle fries for appetizers- the pickles were cut real thin ,panko breaded and deep fried-AMAZING! I had a roasted beet salad with fried blue cheese served on a bed of greens and steak frites, while my husband had a chopped salad and toasted chicken breast with roasted veggies.Several of our friends recommened the mac n cheese,so we got a small side of it.For dessert we split the chocolate mousse which was served with fresh berries. For drinks -I got the sangria and my husband had a few beers. The service was amazing and the ambience was nice. We will certainly be going back here, when we find a sitter.

Overall a very cool place with simple and pleasing decor. The service was excellent, drinks were good, appetizers were excellent.

Delicious food cooked to order, organized friendly wait staff ..great drinks. Don't forget to order the fried pickles..one of the best in Lancaster.

(4)Jessica B.
(4)Rick W.

This is also the reason reservations are highly recommended. The salads we had were good. I had a Caesars and I've found they are either good or bad, there's usually not an in between. For dessert, the Apple Tart was very good. The presentation of the food was very well done. Service: Excellent. Food: Excellent. Atmosphere: Excellent. Recommended!

(2)S M.

(3)Brett B.
This is a decent date spot for a slightly fancier dinner than most Lancaster restaurants provide. The food and service were excellent with the exception of having to wait for a table to be cleared despite arriving at the time of our reservation.
(3)Rick H.
(4)Kyle S.
(4)M L.
(1)Maureen L.
(4)James P.
Come on!
(4)Charles Z.

A simply stylish and delicious dining experience!

Wow sorry it took so long to get here. Skip and his crew were flawless with our group of 11 on Saturday night

Went with friends for dinner. Classy environment. The food is really nice. When it comes to dessert, women always have another stomach:)

I love the martinis here. Their bar bites are great. Atmosphere is nice. No complaints here.

Amazing food. Great service. Nice atmosphere. Good choice for one of those fancier date nights or a group celebration. My wife and I enjoy every course, every time.

Nice atmosphere at this restaurant. Upstairs is more fun than downstairs". It's a bar, and it can get crowded. Food is fine, but the menu is nothing special.

Love the hip, trendy feel in this restaurant. They even have a cute little rooftop deck area. I sampled several of the appetizers and they were all fantastic. My main course was great too. Great mixed drinks and wine menu. Fair prices!

(4)Britt L.
This place has phenomenal food! The pumpkin ravioli dish was outstanding as was the beet salad. The pumpkin creme brûlée with pumpkin bread pudding was also pretty fabulous! Yummy fall menu for sure and several vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options.

It's not the best, but it's good. We've been here twice, and it hasn't been outstanding. Our food has come out "warm" both times. I think the place looks and feels nicer than the food they serve.
