Love Cali Tort! My food is always amazing and the service is always superb (they even know me by name) you won't regret eating here! The chips and salsa are amazing and the salsa is always made fresh. They have a wall of hot sauces and 100+ coke product drink choices! Whenever I'm at work this is where I eat on break!

The food was average. Liked the Monday night wheel special where you could win free food. The service was exceptional, and the brownies and cookies were very good.

First time in a California Tortilla after hearing about it for a while. Not really impressed. Considering the real, local & fresh Mexican we have in the area, this chain can't compete. Three dishes for our order, blackened chicken tacos, fish tacos & an Asian inspired shrimp bowl. Blackened chicken was dried out. Fish tacos were cooked properly but extremely bland. The shrimp bowl had about a dozen teeny, tiny shrimp on them smothered in a sticky/sweet sauce. All side orders were rice or rice and beans, which unfortunately again, dried out and needed a generous splash of hot sauce to add flavor and moisture. All portions seemed to have a scant amount of protein to 3-4x the veggies and rice. $30 for this adventure. In my opinion, overpriced for the value received. Just too many components missing the mark.

This was my first and unfortunately my last visit to california tortilla. I ordered two burritos and queso. Both burritos were equally bland and almost inedible. If my food was even a smidgen better I would definitely return. What the food lacked was made up in service. Our cashier was very patient and guided me with suggestions. The food took a bit long so they voluntarily threw in extra queso and chips. Maybe it was just an off night?, but unfortunately they did not win my patronage tonight.

I enjoy this place it's different tasting then your typical chipotle and qdouba. I like the blackened chicken option and they also have a cool wall of 75 hot sauces you can try, being a fan of hot sauce it's a cool place to eat. It does typically take a while to get the food though.

Became very ill after eating here. I noticed the restaurant was generally unclean and run down (walls dirty/worn) and lots of fly's that kept landing on my food. Within hours of eating here I was violently ill with food poisoning. I would not recommend eating here, and will never go back myself, that's for sure.

I've been to California Tortilla twice now. The food is good. It's located somewhere in between Chipotle and Taco Bell on the Mex-American fast food scale. Costs around $10 for a medium soda and a burrito bowl with toppings. This location seems to get dirtier and dirtier. The layout is terrible the tables are too close together! You can barely walk in the isles especially near the soda fountain and utensil area. It's a "cluster" especially if there are more than 10 people in the joint. The girl at the register Sunday afternoon had the personality of a paper doll. Wasn't very helpful or eager to answer questions. Also, there is no reason AT ALL for such a small establishment to use a microphone to call your name. Basically a wannabe Chipotle spot with less fresh food. I gave it three stars based completely on the awesome Hot Sauce wall. I like spicy things, what can I say?

Food is good for the price. Store is clean and staff are very friendly and helpful. Daughter loved the soda machine.

Very cool Mexican burrito, quesadilla and salad shop. My 2 year old loved her quesadilla, chips and brownie combo. I had a vegetarian option right on the menu that I liked "no meato". My wife ordered a Korean BBQ burrito and liked it except for the the extra heat after asking for no sarracha (either forgot or there was other heat in it ). That is the only reason for a loss of one star. They have a whole wall full of hot sauces and nice seating and designing throughout. I would come back whenever we were feeling Mexican but they don't have one of theses shops in New York yet. It was a peasant experience, not unique, but tasty and well executed.

Holy moly, guacamole! "CalTort" knocked my socks off. I am very used to Qdoba, or the better alternative Chipotle, but this new line is the bomb-diggity! 1. Cool soda machines. You can make over 100 different sodas. No joke. 2. The Wall of Flame. You can choose from over 75 different bottles of sauce, and bring them to your table, to spice up your meal just the way you want it. 3. FRESHNESS. There are veggies lining the whole (visible) kitchen, and you can watch them cut up everything just before it's served. 4. Rewards card. Why not? 5. COME TO PHILADELPHIA, PLEASE, CALTORT! We could really use you in Center CIty. Thank you. Overall - 5 stars for decor, taste, price, originality, and fun!

The burritos were okay here and portions were more than adequate. Even the prices and service were okay. Cleanliness was quite a problem, though, so much so that we decided it better to eat outdoors, which wasn't much better. Clearly, they've got to clean up their act.

Good food, accommodating w changes to order, and employees are very pleasant! We are local and love to come here because they make you feel welcome, food is good and quick. I love the southwest salad or fish tacos w slaw, etc. my kids love their monster burritos (bacon ranch I think). I'd give it a 5 but it is fast food:)

Hit or miss! I've worked across the street deom here foe over a year and when the Cajun chicken is hot and crispy (which is 50/50) with the huge assortment of sauces it's awesome. But it's isn't always and I've sent more than one back for being cold and dried out. They also take a long time to make your buritto they should heck out how the other burrito places do it so much more efficient. I still stop in from time to time for those sauces

Love their burritos! The staff is so very friendly and they cater well to you. My sister is allergic to peppers and they do everything possible to avoid getting her food near them. It can get a little cramped in there sometimes but it's a nice place to eat

For fast food style Tex mex it is good. Everything was fresh, hot and tasty. There was a good selection. This was my first time eating here. I got the chicken bacon ranch burrito and it was tasty, but too much rice for my taste. I just don't generally care for a lot of rice on a burrito so next time I go I will ask for less rice or half rice half beans if I can (it doesn't come with beans on it). We got the large chips and queso. When I first saw the big bowl of chips to what seemed like a small bowl of queso I thought it wouldn't be enough, but they were perfectly sized. My husband got the Bangkok shrimp and he enjoyed it. They have a wall of FLAME with over 75 hot sauces which is cool if you like to try different sauces. Good atmosphere, very clean store, friendly staff.

My favorite texicalifornian food chain. Interesting flavor profiles, large portions and a hot sauce enthusiast's paradise. The Wall of Flame contains 75 different types of bottled hot sauces you can sample/use. The first time I walked into CT = mind blown. The soda machine has an exuberant amount of sodas from which to choose. CT also has a loyalty rewards program. My favorite: Carnitas Verde taco added with the Wall of Flame's Busha Browne's Pukka hot pepper sauce (made with Scotch bonnet peppers)

1st time there and we will not go back. We thought about going there during grand opening a year and a half ago but the line was too long. We got a coupon and decided to try it. Walking in it appeared clean and bright, but then it was apparent it is a struggling franchise. The staff did not speak English very well and were not concerned about how slow they were, tables were dirty, 50+ soda machine was out of most options, and the diced lettuce in my salad was old and brown. There are plenty of other options nearby that are much better.

Not very good. Got the California screamin burrito and the chicken was dried out and hard.... Definitely ruined the burrito. Guacamole was okay, not as good as Chipotle. The menu is behind a wall, hard to read and disorginized.

This was my first time eating at California Tortilla. It seemed to be a popular local establishment. The food was good but the floor was sticky! Really sticky! The bathroom wasn't any better. On to the food-I had a chicken burrito. I ordered a small and it was huge! And good and fresh.

We where in town for a night and did not want to drive far. I had a bowl, was good but thought it was going to be more like a salad. He got a burrito, he enjoyed it. Got the queso, was ok but more like cheez wiz and tomatoes. Not a lot of spice

i love this restaurant chain, and it made my move to lancaster that much more bearable. this particular branch is not as consistent as the one in glen mills (sometimes the queso is too watery, etc.), but it's still good. i get the honey lime burrito (small) combo + chips & queso every time. FYI if you choose to be a little "healthier" than usual and go for a salad, the chicken is larger grilled chicken strips, and not the cubed type that comes in the burritos. if you've ever had real korean bbq street tacos (e.g. kogi truck in SoCal or even California Pizza Kitchen's kbbq tacos while they had them), don't bother getting them here. they will disappoint you. the flavor is off and it's too strong and sweet and it's just... not right. don't waste the calories/money on them.

I stumbled into this during a trip to Lancaster and was very pleased with my meal (Korean BBQ burrito & tortilla soup). Both were excellent. The wall of flame and soda variety are awesome features. The ability to try all those different hot sauces was really cool. I was so pleased with my meal I took a moment to mention it to the manager. After explaining that I didn't live close enough to return regularly I was really pleased when he told me there was a store in Newark, DE which is about 10 mins from home. I'll be going back again soon!

To be honest , I've really only eaten Chipoltle's burritos, which I love! This place was pretty gross compared to Chipotle. The sauce was way to overwhelming. It was beyond messy and had little chicken. The flavor was just off. Once was enough for me not to go back.

Burritos are small and the whole experience ends up being expensive if you get drink/chips. As others have noted, the space is small and cramped. The burritos themselves are, in my opinion, sub-par. I already mentioned that they're tiny, but the actual innards just taste bland and low quality. The taste is bolstered by the one feature that (occasionally) draws me to the eatery: the Wall of Flame. It's a ton of fun picking out various hot sauces to try. Each kind has a number rating (1-very mild, 10-uber hot!), highest rated locked away and requiring the patron to sign a release form to access. The chips (and it really is best to go with the queso, even though it is more expensive than the salsa) are delicious and help to dampen the disappointment of the burritos.

Great variety of food! The wall of flame and the Monday night wheel are my favorite things! Definitely one of my favorites

Cal Tort is one of my favorite spots for a quick bite! The food is SUPER FRESH, made on the spot for you. It isn't cheap but it is fresh and filling. Their drink machine alone is worth 5 stars not to mention their wall of flame! over 75 different hot sauces for the heat seeker in you!

Another alternative to Chipotle, Qdoba, etc, California Tortilla is new to Lancaster. Bright decor, helpful employees, computerized drink machine, and clean bathrooms were all pluses. On the negative, it felt a bit cramped for space, the CT burrito bowl and tacos weren't very filling (compared to Chipotle's equivalent), we didn't care too much for the food's taste, and it was slightly more expensive than Chipotle. (Can you tell by now we really love Chipotle? lol) My wife also ordered the turkey chili since she was still hungry after her tacos. I wanted to give 2.5 stars, but that's not an option. Nice place, but we're doubtful we'll go back. You should try it and see what you think. Might be more to your liking than it was for ours.

We got the no meato burrito, and it was huge and tasty. I loved the wall of hot sauces to sample. They also had a touch screen soda fountain that would add flavor to any coke product, my wife wasn't impressed with that aspect, i would go there just to drink from that. We both loved the food. This was her second trip and it was just as good as the first. We will definitely go there again and again an again.

I have been to this California Tortilla restaurant about a half-dozen times. Every time, the food has been fresh and delicious, and the service is excellent with friendly workers. I bring my kids here every so often, coming all the way from Reading (40 minutes away) because their food is so great. A great place if you want something better than fast food, but don't want to spend the time or money at a sit-down-and-order restaurant. Highly recommended!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
