Diabetics must resist their temptations when dining at Applebee's. Most of the items on Applebee's menu is either stuffed with sodium or sugar. You must be extra careful and pick low-sugar and low-sodium diet at Applebee's if you are diabetic.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for Diabetics:
If you are starting your meal with appetizers then make sure you skip the Classic Buffalo sauce, Honey BBQ sauce, and sweet Asian Chile sauce on your wings order. It is highly recommended to skip the appetizers if you are dining alone and instead build your appetizer keeping nutrition in check. Among the steaks, you must stay away from the Applebee's Riblets platter as well as Bourbon Street Steak at all costs. Shrimp 'N Parmesan Sirloin is also not recommended. Skip the sandwiches, wraps, and tacos as well. Desserts may be tempting but it is recommended to avoid them at Applebee's for their high sugar content. All the beverages except Iced Teas must be avoided as well to control your sugar intake.
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure
Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.
Food Suggestions for High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol
If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.
Food Suggestions to Maintain Cholesterol Level at Applebee's
Mixed feelings about this place. Food was ok, but they made a mistake on one order and it took forever to make a replacement. But the manager came over and apologized, so I guess it is ok? Don't go expecting the best service or food. It's good enough to be forgettable.

Guess I should have checked Yelp out before going here tonight. After feeling generally disappointed by so many chain restaurants for quite a while I decided to be a squeaky wheel. My Thai Shrimp Salad was missing several elements: 1. It was supposed to have a peanut sauce on it -- it was a no-show until I asked the server about it. 2. There was supposed to be fresh cilantro on top -- also not there. 3. Sliced almonds -- don't recall them either. Despite all of that, the salad was still pretty good (with the peanut sauce). It probably would have been amazing if prepared correctly according to the menu. My wife had fish and chips. She made it half way through before she hit a big patch of wet batter. I "think" the fish was cooked through but white fish like this is translucent when raw, so it was hard to judge. Is there such a thing as sushi and chips? Anyway, to the server's and manager's credit they took the fish and chips off the bill and gave the kids free ice cream. I'd say the kitchen needs to get in order. They have an AMAZING location and should have many good reviews but currently that is lacking.

Went in tonight - trick or treat night. Was seated by hostess. Sat and waited for 10 minutes....2 servers, 2 bidders and the hostess passed our table. No one stopped to ask if someone had taken drink orders or whatever. Hostess walks by us and sits patrons two tables down and the waitress comes right over . We left and the hostess acts as if we were leaving after eating. The restaurant was not busy . Went back in just to make sure she knew we left because no one came over to our table. "I apologize. She was in the back getting lettuce . I forgot to tell her". Really? She served others in her assignment. Applebees is not that great. Last time we visit this restaurant .

A trip to Applebees is usually the result of gift cards and not an innate desire for fresh, delicious food. We've come to expect salty, not great food from Applebees. We were pleasantly surprised that our waiter Hector came up to us with wit, humor, and was quite verbose right from the start of the experience. Someone would be wise to take serious note of how Hector handles customers. We overheard another waiter berating the host about where he was seating people (not professional at all). Hector's positive attitude and humor was a completely unexpected surprise this evening, and we commend him for doing the unexpected and giving us some laughter and great service!

Five stars relative to an Apple Bees and other chain restaurants. We arrived at 5:30 PM on a Thursday. Maybe the lack of a crowd was the reason for the good service? Anyway we ordered the 3 cheese penne. Son loved it along with the mozzarella sticks. Daughter and wifey liked the 4 cheese Mac and cheese. For me the ribs hit the spot.

It amazes me how packed this place is. Really packed. At 9pm. Line out the door! We only had a lot of drinks at the bar, but the service was awesome. People so friendly and the food that passed every 5 seconds looked great. Tried to stick around to see if a bus pulled up with the high school basketball team just as the manager was locking the door, but then decided to let them in, but nothing!

The hostess looked and said "you'll have to wait we are cleaning tables" finally got seated..restaurant was not busy. Took forever to get food, which by the time it got to us was cold. The waitress was sweet, but the rest of the staff had a lot of be desired. Won't go back there anytime soon.

We were stunned by the bad reviews that were left here long ago. It seemed that based on our recent experience here, they improved their methods of providing service to their hungry patrons. We came on a Saturday night at around 6pm. We expected to wait for a maximum of 15 minutes. If there was a longer waiting period, then we would have patronized another restaurant on US-30. However, when we walked in, we were immediately seated at a booth. After a 7-minute wait, our waitress came by and took our drink orders. Because we were all ready to order, she took our food orders as well. Everytime we go to Applebee's, we always share on the "2 For $20" deal. This is because the amount of food available with this offer was enough to share with three people, and of course to take home as leftovers too. I went to the restroom to wash my hands. Miraculously, as soon as I came out, our appetizer was right there! We've always loved Applebee's Mozzarella Sticks. These were delivered hot and fresh to our table, and the appearance never revealed the sign that they were frozen before. The coating was crispy with scattered seasoning and the inside was gooey with a lot of cheese. The marinara dipping sauce contained a lot of flavor, and was hot as well. Dipping those delicious sticks in the marinara sauce resulted in a very tasty combination. Oh yeah. As we were finishing up the Mozzarella Sticks, our two shareable entrees came out. The first one was the Oriental Chicken Salad. This consisted of lettuce mixed with carrot strips, crispy noodles, toasted almonds and fried chicken (grilled chicken option was available at an additional cost). Of course this was all mixed in with a light dressing. This appeared fresh and tasted delicious. Our other entree was the Three Cheese Chicken Penne. This was made up of penne pasta mixed with Alfredo sauce and grilled chicken. Various cheeses and mini tomato cubes were placed on top of the pasta. Of course we can't forget about the additional bread-stick. This tasted really good, and we ended up taking some of this home. Lastly, dessert. Almost every time we come to Applebee's, we order their mini dessert shooters. We ordered two Strawberry Cheesecake and one Chocolate Mousse dessert shooters. The Strawberry Cheesecake shooter was simply made up of a basic cheesecake with strawberry sauce and whipped cream. The other shooter contained Oreo cookie pieces on the bottom, a mound of chocolate mousse, and whipped cream on top. Both of those shooters were tasty, and much better than eating a big slice of cake for dessert. Our waitress had a pleasant attitude throughout our experience. The service was speedy at times, which was good. Overall, this was an excellent experience. We'll probably patronize this location again if we ever return to the Lancaster area.

Worst service EVER. Left w/out eating after 50 minutes. Will never return. Waited 10 minutes for a waiter; waited add'l 20 min for our cold appetizer to arrive. We brought it to the manager's attn & she returned w/ an equally cold appitizer stating it was extrememly hot. Eventually our waiter wandered by & we stated that we didn't want the appetizer. He asked if we wanted our meals, which had "just come up" to which we responded "yes." He walked by delivering a to-go box to a neighboring table; wandered back to the kitchen & we never saw him again. Ten minutes later we decided to leave...having only had our drinks. Pathetic experience. Giving ZERO STARS was not an option, so I put one.

About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. He walked by delivering a to-go box to a neighboring table; wandered back to the kitchen & we never saw him again. Ten minutes later we decided to leave...having only had our drinks. Pathetic experience. Giving ZERO STARS was not an option, so I put one.

Service was lacking, appetizer was not hot, and chips were stale. Food was unacceptable and bland. I won't go back.

Terrible dinner. Salad was sloppy, wilted. Restaurant was hot inside. Slop is all it was.
