My husband and I went for dinner at 6pm on a Saturday night. The parking lot was full due to a wedding reception but there was plenty of parking in the lot right next to the main lot. When I called and made reservations and asked about the dress code the woman sounded surprised that I even asked and said "Casual - please be comfortable and enjoy your meal." I was a little more dressed up but my husband wore dark jeans with dress shoes and a dress shirt and I think he was the most underdressed man there. Most of the older men were wearing jackets. The "best salad you'll ever have" was quite delicious as my appetizer. My husband was disappointed with his lobster bisque. I had the salmon as my entree and he had the veal and shrimp - both were delicious. For dessert I had the pecan pie w/vanilla ice cream (based on reviews on yelp) and he had the lemon tart. I rarely have something like pecan pie but it was - AMAZING - and I'm glad I ordered it. Overall the ambiance was nice - romantic. The service was OK - but not as good as I expected. The most annoying part was that we ordered glasses of wine to come with our entree - and they did not. Halfway through the meal I asked for the waitress - she passed by and sort of motioned "wine?" to which I nodded. By the time she brought it over I was done with my meal - and the worst part was that there was no apology whatsoever. I would definitely go to the Kimberton Inn again. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was quiet and romantic.

Good food and service. A nice setting in an old building. Went there for mom's day with the kids. Better for just couples, but kids certainly permitted. Gave it 4 stars as the price was a bit high, but no regrets on the quality.

Kimberton Inn! My experiences are as follows: A Magical Wedding Rehearsal Dinner Nights at the Restaurant for dinner Drinks at the Cozy Bar Takeout Any and all opportunities to eat there should be taken and as soon as possible! The food here is amazing. I mean....AH-MAY-ZING! I have yet to have something that I did not love...seafood, chicken, beef, I have loved it all! The atmosphere is so lovely that it makes you just want to camp out and eat every meal there. And the service is so wonderful, the servers are attentive and offer plenty of help and suggestions. Tips: reservations, Best Salad (a must!), and pecan pie. I never had pecan pie until the KI and it was not to sweet, not too heavy, just mouth-watering and delicious. So - to make what would be a long review short.....GO THERE!!!

Fabulous food, service friendly, but a bit slow. Traditional but food served perfectly. Served a Med well steak perfectly which us hard to do :). Bananas foster not traditional so would not order again! Good experience but probably not worth $250 for 4 :(

The service and the food here is fantastic. I truly appreciate freshly made meals!

Ya know, there's nothing better then going here then if someone else is paying for it. Friends took us out as a thank you- and they like this place as much as we do. It was during the week so the place was not overbooked and it was nice and quiet. We had a table in the corner just as I like it and the service was attentive as always. You usually don't know they are there and just go on talking. I had the lobster bisque, penne pasta with shrimp and the apple crisp with a dollop of vanilla ice cream. I have to say I WAS a tad disappointed in the the lack of flavoring in the lobster bisque. It was just not up to the Kimberton standards that I expect. Boo Hoo.... But the shrimp with pasta was mouth melting devine. I was in heaven. Yeah really. Sorry, I get that way sometimes. And the warm apple crisp, oh how happy I was that I did not order a chocolate dessert. Can you imagine? My husband had the crusted bass with balsamic reduction. The fish alone was good, but the reduction made it pop. My friend had the liver.................liver? who goes to a restaurant and orders liver? It was delicious. With bacon and onions and a potato mash. She also had an open lobster roll for an appetizer that also was mouth watering, but since they were paying for the meal I didn't want to put them to break the bank. Her husband had a steak with tiny shoe string potatoes that was huge. If I were a big meat eater I would have attacked it across the table. The atmosphere makes a big difference in the food here also. It is quiet, relaxing, and you can take your time. I don't come here often because it is a little pricey, but it really is special.

I really loved this historic old place. Went by myself while on a business trip. Had a lovely glass of wine, a malbec. The bread was warm and yummy. Had the "best salad you'll ever had" and it was very good, unique for sure, loved the match stick apples. For dinner had a crab cake and subbed mashed potatoes - only 'complaint' is the serving size of my potatoes was laughable. I would venture to guess it was less than 1/4 cup but I wasn't going hungry for sure. The crab cake was so yummy. For dessert had the pecan pie. It was disappointing, very flat in flavor and the crust was not flaky at all. Even with the sub-par dessert it still totally deserves 4 stars.

A group of 9 of us dined at the Kimberton Inn this past Sunday for brunch. Initially, I was a little concerned after they fumbled our reservation date/time (after receiving a call that morning inquiring where we were). Jeff, who turned out to be the owner and a fantastic host, was the one to call. He profusely apologized and said that he thought he had had it listed wrong in his book. Not only was he able to accommodate us at our preferred time, but we were able to increase the number in our party to include two late additions to the group. After arriving at the restaurant, we were immediately welcomed by a friendly hostess who said that our first party member was seated at the bar. We walked to the back, which was technically the front of the Inn back when it opened in the late 18th century. There we met Jeff, who recognized my voice from our phone call a few hours earlier. The bartender, whose name I unfortunately did not get, was a joy to speak with. I, being an avid student of history (especially early American history), began to inquire about our dining location and its founding in 1796. Jeff not only was a great host, but he took me out to the front of the property and explained how the small town of Kimberton would have appeared with the four corner buildings at the intersection of Kimberton and Hares Hill Roads. It was fascinating to hear and much appreciated. The fare is traditional American- and very well prepared. You can not beat the brunch on Sundays, for a mere $26 you get a three course (appetizer, entree, and dessert) meal, along with freshly squeezed orange juice, and all of the tantalizing good biscuits and sticky buns you can consume. I started my meal with a cup of lobster bisque- my favorite- laced with cream sherry. It was fantastic- I highly recommend it. My entree consisted of the classic eggs benedict, with home fries. I rounded it out with a piece of New York style cheesecake, topped with raspberries and accompanied with a raspberry sauce drizzled on the plate. I have to admit- I am a sort of cheesecake snob. The Inn hit this one out of the park- it literally melted in your mouth. The service was top notch- everyone was friendly, accommodating, and extremely attentive. My only concern was the amount of time between courses. Now I understand we were a party of 9, but we were there for close to 3 hours. I assume this is a kitchen issue, but an issue nonetheless. The ambiance of the dining area was splendid- feeling as though you were a guest at the Inn several hundred years ago. All in all, I highly recommend checking the Kimberton Inn out for an enjoyable brunch or dinner. I plan to return sometime in the near future.

I can't say enough about the Kimberton Inn. My husband and I held our entire wedding there (ceremony and reception) and it was wonderful from start to finish. Jeff and his staff are amazing, and work very hard to keep things running smoothly. Their wedding packages are very reasonable, especially when you think about what's included and when compared to other competitors in the area. We've been back multiple times for Thanksgiving dinners with our parents (both of which were outstanding) and most recently to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. As always the food was delicious and service was impeccable. I would highly recommend the Kimberton Inn for a special event, or for a nice night out.

My wife and I went there on a Tuesday for a birthday dinner. It was wonderful and romantic. The food was excellent - the cauliflower soup special was great, and the sirloin scallopini appetizer (also available as a dinner size) was yummy. For our entrees, we had a cobia and shrimp special, and their filet mignon. The fish was good, for sure, but the filet was the best one I've ever had. Desert was great too - a wide selection including 4 specials; my wife loved the handmade Belgian chocolate ice cream, and I loved the blueberry crisp with vanilla ice cream. The service was very good and helpful - a few moments where the server was elsewhere in the Inn (it was a slow night, but the upside was we had most of a beautiful room to ourselves). Nice music, not loud, which added to the ambiance. We're definitely going back soon.

Our visit to the Kimberton Inn was unexpected, but a pleasant one. The facility is beautiful, and has several nice dining rooms to accommodate their guests. We were seated in their main dining room, after having several glasses of wine at the bar. I had a luncheon portion hazelnut crusted chicken breast with mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy. The portion was just the right size, and was delivered by our server without a long wait. I enjoyed the dish. For dessert, I had warm apple crisp with vanilla ice cream. I think you'll enjoy your visit to Kimberton Inn if you find yourself passing through the little village of Kimberton, PA.

Please someone open a good restaurant in this area! It is a restaurant waste land here. No wonder this restaurant gets good reviews. There is no other decent place to go out in this neighborhood! I've had the crab cake once, and it was just passable. Will not get that again. Calamari salad was good idea, but not executed right. My son's pork chop was overly sweet. Everything seems so tired. I don't mean old food, just not fresh and creative. Even my son claimed that this place is not worth going back. So, there it is. They will not see us again.
(2)David M.
I had the crab cake and it was cold and not very good. It did not seem fresh but frozen. Wegmans pub has a the best crab cake. The bill came and we were double billed for some entrees that amounted to almost $100 over. No apology, free desert or any management apology. terrible, Better check you bill at this place!!!!!!! Not the quality for the price.

My wife and I are lucky enough to live local to this restaurant. Whenever she asks me where I want to go for "date night", my answer is always the same. Kimberton Inn. It is by no means a "cheap" restaurant, but the food is QUALITY and the service is unmatched in the area, by a long shot. We never feel "rushed" there. Last night we had a nice relaxing dinner for 2 on the patio (73* and no bugs) and we just enjoyed each other's company for 2 hours. No pressure to leave, not ignored by staff being outside... just a nice relaxing time. Their bar selection is top shelf. I am a Scotch drinker and can rarely find a HIGH quality Scotch at a restaurant in this area. The first time I asked for a "peaty / smokey Scotch like Lagavulin or Laphroaig 18 or Laphroaig 10", they said, to my delight, "we have all 3... which would you like". Usually, you're LUCKY if a bar has Laphroaig 10 (the least of the 3). They also have a Sunday Brunch (which we used to go to twice a month before we had a baby) which is a GREAT value for money. You get a 5 course meal for $25. A bit pricey for Breakfast, but if you think about the amount of food you get, it's actually a good deal. Jeff, the owner is a great guy who does not overlook the details and isn't afraid to pick up some empty plates to keep the place moving. He's not a busboy, but he's a great owner who makes sure the experience and service are top notch. When he's not there, Jay, the maitre d, does a wonderful job taking care of us. I can not recommend the Kimberton Inn highly enough.

The Kimberton Inn is the traditional, colonial-style Inn that has been around in Chester County for well over 200 years. This one is the standout and, overall, has the best food, best ambiance, and best staff of all of them. It's truly a dining experience, not just a meal. The menu offers a great selection of traditional fare done right. No passionfruit California-ized nonsense, just the best food available. Pricy, but well worth every penny. I'd highly recommend the Kimberton Inn to anyone looking for a great meal and great experience.

I had dinner with my mother here this evening, to celebrate my birthday. She was a previous diner; I had never been. I left very pleasantly surprised. The ambience was wonderful - multiple fireplaces, intimate seating arrangement, and an overall cozy inn atmosphere. Service was polite, informative, and unobtrusive (being in the industry myself, I'm very noticeable of the waitstaff). Cocktails were spot on. My mother loves KJ Chardonnay (which they only offer by the bottle but our waitress recommended the True Myth, a U.S. Chardonnay they offer by the glass). My mother agreed was very reminiscent of her beloved KJ. I started with the Fall Snap Dragon cocktail which was wonderfully tart and then finished my meal with a glass of their Argentinean Malbec (not my favorite I've ever had but it was decent). The food was marvelous - my mother chose the crab cake (huge portion size, lump crab meat, delicious!) and I chose the duck entree, both of which were cooked to perfection and we very much enjoyed. For dessert, I had a cafe mocha (one of the best I've ever had) as well as the dark chocolate mousse (which comes served in its own chocolate shell - a unique touch). It was rich and lush. My mother usually doesn't order dessert but she chose to splurge on the sundae - a choice she does not regret! Overall, a wonderful choice and I look forward to dining there again soon!

We had a party of 10 for brunch today at 11 AM. It was a 2 hour brunch but this isn't Applebee's. We were celebrating my mom's 71st birthday and it was our first time here. Food was wonderful, good value for your prix fixe price. We all got an appetizer, entrée and dessert including juice and coffee or tea. My 8 year old ordered from a children's brunch menu but also got 3 courses. Atmosphere is wonderful, fire places were lit. Service was very good, she was attentive but not annoying. We had so many different things - shrimp cocktail, bananas Kimberton, Caesar salad, bloody mary, crab cakes, salmon app, pork chops, pancakes, waffles, and desserts. No on had a bad thing to say. We will return.
(4)Donna B.
Excellent overall. Good menu. Interesting, excellent and very well priced wine list. Service professional. Servers do not ask "are you still working on that?" (Dining is a pleasure, not work.) Portions perfect (there's room for dessert) with nice presentation. Nothing like sitting by a fireplace on a chilly night, listening to live music coming from the bar. The bar, incidentally, is lively most evenings. Perfect for an intimate dinner, and a business event -- it has a good special events room. All that, and the Inn is a good citizen, a supporter of local nonprofits in many ways.
(5)Deirdre L.
It is what it is - An old inn, very lovely and you can feel the history. The service is quite good, but for the prices, the food was just ok.
(3)John S.
Great service everytime I've ever eaten here. Food is classic american continental done right. Downside not a lot changes on their menu. However it's reliable, tasty and the restaurant itself is beautiful. Can't go wrong on a special occasion but you best bring a full wallet.
(4)Tony H.
This is a beautiful restaurant! It's as classic as they get! So very colonial period decor but updated in areas that give it a fresh feel. The area around it makes this a wonderfully scenic restaurant for dining and of course weddings. The filet is in my opinion the choice meal. Very nicely prepared in that it's seared on the outside and rare to medium rare inside. It holds it's juiciness and flavor well. Asparagus and the baked potato male for a traditional meat meal! I hope to be back at Christmas. Every meal at the table was, by discussion, excellent. I didn't have wine to comment on that subject.
(4)Dave W.
Not bad; owner was less than thrilled to be there, but the servers were friendly enough. Food was good.
(2)Eric R.
Great brunch in a romantic setting. Nice to not have a buffet but instead a well varied menu. Service was slow but well paced. The orange juice was to die for though they treated it as if it was gold. Left feeling comfortable rather than the usual overstuffed after brunch. Will return for special occasions.
(4)Lexie O.
Ok meal. I had the Filet Mignon and it was cooked to perfection, however I have had better dishes. The lamb chops and breast were also tasty, but accompanied by a strange sauce. I would return to give it another shot only because of the proprietor- he is unbelievable!
(3)Jess D.
We arrived to celebrate a post-wedding brunch with an ever-changing number of family members, and the staff was very accommodating. (We did have two 6-person reservations, but our final number was closer to 15.) A flat fee for a three course meal with coffee/tea and orange juice was a pretty great deal; I only wish I had listened to our server's recommendations. I took her advice on the pork loin and it was amazing. I tried to branch out on the yogurt and berries and apple crisp and those were fine, but I found myself envious of the salmon and the chocolate torte at the table. Our water glasses never ran dry, but I could have used a coffee refill. I highly recommend the brunch! If you fill up before dessert, you are free to take it to go :)
(4)Jaime Lyn C.
My brother's wedding was held here and everything was PERFECT. The owner, Jeff, was everywhere- even mixing drinks- making sure every guest was taken care of. Definitely recommended for a wedding venue. Also a charming spot for date night. Food is wonderful, wine flows and service is the best...love this place.
(5)Sarah R.
This is a great place to venture out to for a special meal. It's a unique, historic spot with a beautiful, formal ambience. The food is superb and the service is that of an outstanding fine dining experience. The Sunday brunch was also an excellent deal with incredible courses. I'm more likely to go with family than I am with friends, but it's a tradition I enjoy for special occasions.
(4)Debbie D.
Planned a 50th wedding anniversary celebration for my in-laws and their adult kids and spouses. There were 8 of us in total. First, if I were reviewing the building only I would give it 5 starts. We were seated at a round table just inside one fo the rooms near the bar.Thought the noise would be a problem but it wasn't. In fact we could easily talk to one another and later there was piano music in the bar which was very nice. The food though...wish I could say we loved it. We all agree that is was over-priced and nothing special. I don't mind spending $$ for a very nice plate but I expect the flavors to be spot on and MEMORABLE. Nothing was memorable at this meal...I can't even remember what I had. Wish there was a reason that would want me to go back...because the atmospher and service where top notch.
(1)Debi N.
My wife and I went there for dinner. My wife had beef tenderloin with the add on lobster tail and I had the crab cake. The tenderloin which she said was good was very small and the lobster was served with no shell, there were two small strips of lobster meat sitting on her plate. Also 3/4 of her plate was covered with French fries. My crab cake was nice size and loaded with breading, I looked and only found a couple pieces of crab meat and with my crab bread cake I also got 4 steak fries. Dinner doesn't come with a salad so I ordered a blue cheese salad? When it was served my wife started laughing and said what is that? Super small with 4 gravel size pieces of blue cheese. Last time we went there, about 2 years ago, it was a disappointment so never again.
(1)Dave S.
I had an amazing Sunday brunch the other weekend with family and no one left unsatisfied. Each diner had a different item during the three-course meal, which changes with freshness & availability. I had the Bananas a la Kimberton & Vanilla French Toast. Members of the family had a delicious cheese omelet, perfectly made NE clam chowder, an Asian steak salad, scratch pancakes, & pork tenderloins. Make sure you call in for a reservation, as this is a VERY popular meal at the restaurant. I spotted an outdoor patio that was under construction and it looked nearly ready to accept seating.
(5)Clint W.
Our meals were extraordinary! The lamb chops are perhaps the best I ever had. The pecan pie was also divine. This place is pretty old school but that comes as a welcome change to all of the new wave and casual restaurants in Phoenixville. Just be sure to dress accordingly.
(5)Nina B.
My father in-law chose to have his birthday dinner at the Kimberton Inn. The place is beautiful, there's no denying that. As we walked in, I thought, "If this place is good, I'll bring visitors from out of town here if I want to impress them." I won't be doing that. My dinner was good. $30 lamb chops better be. The Caesar salad, however, was all dressing and a little lettuce on the side. The croutons were stale white bread. My husband's sun-dried tomato risotto was...in word: gross. It was not creamy like risotto should be, and these "sun-dried" tomatoes tasted like mushy diced tomatoes from a can. Everyone in our party had one bite and agreed. Perhaps worse than my husband's meal: our waitress never came back to check on us, so he was never given the chance to send it back. We told the busboy and he said, "Oh." To end on a good note, the cappuccino I had to wash down my bite of risotto was fantastic and smooth. It didn't even need sugar.
(2)Nancy C.
One of the best meals we've had in a while. This is a high end establishment with $$$$ food. Our appetizers, main dishes and deserts were excellent. By far the ambience, service and experience were at least 5 stars. Great place for a special occasion.
(5)Jessica M.
My boyfriend and I discovered this place because of a Living Social Deal. I was very impressed. The menu prices weren't as high as I expected. The service was great. I had the Hazelnut Crusted Chicken and loved every bite. We will definitely be back!
(4)Laura V.
I went for brunch today and it was one of my best dining experiences I've had in a long time. The staff was really friendly and the place is very clean. Candles on the tables, fireplaces going and a special treat from the Friday and Saturday night musician, after we begged for a Christmas song he indulged our request. The food was outstanding, we started out with complimentary cheese biscuits, cinnamon buns. The eggs benedict were cooked perfectly and they also accommodated my request for one pancake! Don't miss out out on their delicious Bloody Marys. The owner was working the room and making his way to every table. This is what most establishments. Hospitality is key but if you don't have an owner who is a leader you loose touch with the idea of why you opened to begin with. I will be back often!
(5)Kurt K.
The finest dining establishment in the area period. My family has been eating here on special occasions since I was a child. The service is impeccable and the food exquisite. Extensive wine list and very upscale bar scene. 5 stars all the way!
(5)Percy N.
Unlike the previous review which was for Brunch, this one is for dinner. Unfortunately, my dinner experience did not live up to the expectations I had gained from Brunch visits. The dishes were out of the 80s (not that there is anything wrong with that) and executed without finesse, making the end result just ordinary. I hope this was just an off day and will try it again to give them the benefit of the doubt.
(3)Cheryl K.
My husband and I love this place. We moved to central NJ in 2012 and we are still seeking a fine dining experience in NJ like The Kimberton Inn. The Inn is definitely unique-- the overall experience is understated but the kitchen, dining staff and management consistently perform at a high level. Excellent service. Great food. Expert cocktails. Charming interior. We can recommend the Inn for brunch, celebratory dinners (birthday, anniversary, etc), appetizers and wine at the bar or desserts and coffee. Thanks Jeff and staff for your attention to detail and high standards. Very much appreciated.
(5)Marcie L.
This is the wonderful place I chose for my wedding, and it couldn't have been more magical! Jeff is the best business owner I have ever met. He is so professional and truly cared that every detail was just what I wanted. From the planning stages to the moment I left the reception the night of, I felt completely cared for, with him always close by to make sure I was happy and unstressed. The food is heavenly, and the atmosphere is warm, cozy and romantic. We have now made it a tradition to go back every year on our anniversary.
(5)Bruce D.
Great food for a special occasion. Very helpful staff even though we brought 3 extra folks.
(5)Tracie F.
We have been going to the Kimberton Inn for years now. It has always been our choice for celebrating anniversaries, birthdays, promotions etc... However, on our latest evening out on 10/11/13, we had a less than perfect experience. The waitress took our drink orders and only one drink was delivered by another server. The next time she returned to our table, the waitress again asked if I would like to order a drink. The risotto was under cooked. The whole-fish special was not de-boned well. Desserts were served prior to receiving silverware to use for this course. The chocolate mousse was grainy. A glass of Port was ordered with dessert, but never arrived. The waitress asked to take our credit card prior to presenting the check. Fortunately we reviewed the check prior to paying, and sure enough the glass of Port was on the bill. When the waitress was confronted, she asked if the Port should be brought out and we declined. Not having the Port to accompany the dessert defeats the purpose of having the beverage. When the waitress asked the owner to remove the Port from the bill, she told him that we didn't want it anyway. Not a fine dining experience! We will not be returning.
(2)James H.
The food, grounds, service are outstanding and priced reasonably for such a place. However there were NO OBVIOUS HANDICAPPED PARKING PLACES OR ENTRANES.
(4)Kat S.
This place is so beautiful, historical, warm and laid back. I went around Christmas time and so the place was decorated in christmas garb, overflowing with large dramatic fresh poinsettias and naturally decorated trees. The service is impeccable and the food is traditional and delicious. The lobster bisque had a generous portion of actual lobster chunks and the "Best Salad" really is the best salad! It is on the pricey side, but now they've added an "everyday menu" that has more reasonable priced entrees. I order the beef tenderloin which came with fresh cut pommes frites and a delicious bernaise sauce. It was tender and flavorful and only $23...compared to $33 for the filet mignon. This is my new favorite place and I can't wait to go back!
(5)C L.
Best brunch in the Phoenixville/Kimberton area!! The atmosphere is historic and elegant without being too stuffy. The food is great and it's also a great deal!

The Kimberton Inn 610-933-8148 (visited May 12, 2010) NOTE: All my restaurant reviews are based on unsolicited and unannounced visits, and everything has been ordered and paid for just as any other customer would do. We will rate the food on creativity and taste, and we will rate the service on timeliness and professionalism. There are no bells, forks, or mmm's in these reviews. There will simply be "We would hurry back", or "We would not hurry back". We are blessed to live in an area with such rich culinary diversity, and it is even better when we can sample quality food in the warmth and charm of an old country inn. So it is that my frequent dining companion and I find ourselves on the well-traveled path to this classic destination. Now, Kimberton, PA, is not around the corner, but it's a relaxing journey that takes you through Valley Forge National Historical Park, and into the rolling hills of Chester County. Trust us, it's worth the trip and you will be rewarded with a consistent combination of creative food and superior service, all set in a cozy, warm yet elegant atmosphere. My frequent dining companion and I like to arrive early, and have a cocktail at the bar prior to dining (they have jazz at the bar on weekends). Here we can relax and catch up on the day before being escorted to our table. Knowing that we were heading to our favorite country inn, we ate an early breakfast, and a very light lunch, making room for what was to come. My frequent dining companion began her evening with an appetizer of Smoked Maine Salmon BLT ($9.50), a delightful combination of salmon, apple wood smoked bacon, micro greens, tomatoes and herb aioli on grilled sourdough bread. To my dismay I was told that we would not be sharing; an indication that it was just too good to part with even one bite. I chose the classic Shrimp Cocktail, and was rewarded with several jumbo shrimp, and the most wonderful cocktail sauce I have ever tasted. A little investigation revealed that the sauce is a blend of chili sauce, cilantro, lime juice, and horseradish. I'm thinking that I should tuck these ingredients away in my head and remember them the next time I make a Bloody Mary. We enjoy wine parings when we dine, and this evening we chose a Valpolicella Ripassa from Zenato. A Ripassa is a wine that is first fermented in the traditional way, then fermented a second time using the pomace (grapes, skins, etc. that are allowed to dry for 3-4 months), creating a wine with greater depth and complexity, virtually bursting with flavor. This wine is currently available by the glass or by the bottle, and is well worth a try. Although I would normally pare it with meat, I enjoy it so much I could not resist trying it with my spicy appetizer, and I was not disappointed. We each chose a Caesar Salad ($5.50) for our next course, a traditional combination of romaine lettuce and dressing. The portion was perfect, and we both enjoyed the delicate balance of flavors. If you are a salad lover though, don't miss Probably the Best Salad You'll Ever Have ($6.50), a delightful combination of red leaf lettuce and baby spinach, tossed with a sweet sesame-walnut dressing and topped with tart apples, toasted sunflower seeds, and aged Gouda cheese. Our entrees consisted of Naturally Raised Hazelnut Crusted Breast of Chicken ($24.00) for her, and Soft-Shell Crabs ($24.00) for me. Now before you ask, this is one of the only places where you can order chicken, and be thoroughly pleased. The dish consists of a good size breast of chicken with a crunchy hazelnut crust over mashed potatoes smothered with Kennett Square mushrooms in a delicate sauce. My soft-shell crabs were a special of the house that evening, and were worth waiting for. Delicately sautéed, they were melt-in-your-mouth perfect. Whether you choose a relaxing weeknight, or a busy weekend, know that the service will be perfect. The "dance" which is good service performs like a well-rehearsed symphony, and your every need will be addressed in a cheerful and timely manner. I'm always amazed at how flawless the service is, and how they can seamlessly accommodate a wedding reception, a full dining room, and a dinner in the wine cellar. Be sure to visit kimbertoninn.com , for more details, including their amazing wine dinner events. This is one restaurant that we will (and do) hurry back to visit.
