The worst meal I have had in years! How do you cook a filet medium rare and have it completely dried out, pink center and I could have put the thing in a vise and got no juice from it. The lobster had to be soaked in butter to have any taste and the texture was bad. Service was poor, the waitress served our party of 10 by herself one at a time de-shelling every lobster it took almost 10 minutes for everyone to get there meal. The waitress blamed the slow service on the cooks. When I asked if any of the desserts were made in house I was told they a came from "some place in Reading, Pa". I guess Oakmont Bakery or Moios Bakery in the Pittsburgh area aren't good enough. Save your money or spend the two hundred for two, with a bottle of wine, at Monterey Bay and get a good meal for your money.

My wife and I ate at The Nest for valentines. I haven't been this disappointed In a long time. The lobster tail was recommended by the waitress. My wife and I both ordered lobster tail. It was rubbery and tasteless. The waitress never returned for us to complain. The table was cleared and when we finally told the waitress and manager they did nothing. I ate only half, and my wife only took 1 bite. EXTREMELY OVERPRICED FOR THE PRODUCT!!! Save your money!

Sadly it seems like this place is going down hill and I blame the management. We've been going here for special occasions with a large group for years and always had a good experience. But after this past visit, we will probably find somewhere else. We had reservations for 13 at 6PM on a Saturday. Our group began arriving shortly before 6, but were told we had to wait until everyone was there until we could be seated. (The table was empty and set... so why did we have to wait? Never did before.) We all arrived by 6:10 and were seated.... looked over the menu... and ordered (drinks, appetizers, & meals all at the same time) around 6:30. Around this same time another large table was seated near us. We got our appetizers, soups, bead, and salads relatively quickly. (Note: Ask for the cheesy garlic bread instead of the regular bread, because the regular bread was cold, not room temperature-cold, like had been in the freezer cold... and let me tell you it isn't easy to spread cold butter on cold bread.) So... then we finish those items and we sit and wait and wait... around 7:50 we start wondering where our food is. Then a little later we start to see meals delivered to the table next to us (remember, they were seated at least 15 minutes after us.) So we ask for the manager to see where our food is and why the table that arrived after us was getting served before us. He was very rude, told us we weren't seated until after 6:30 and walks away in a huff. We finally got our meals around 8:10. Our waitress apologized and told us that the kitchen wasn't well staffed that night with only 2 guys cooking (2 cooks on a Saturday night with a full restaurant, most of which had to have had reservations??! Being busy that night surely wasn't a surprise to management. They should have staffed accordingly.) We were offered free dessert for our long wait... which was nice, i guess. But by then people needed to get home to their sitters, and we had a 1 yr old with us who was up way past her bed time. We didn't get out of there till 9. The food is pretty good... but pricey... so be prepared to pay $25+ per person. I've never had anything bad, but I've also had better things at other places at a cheaper price. Kim is a great waitress, ask for her if you go.

Amazing! Environment, service and food! All 5 stars! Bread was light and fluffy! My fiancé had the steak and colossal shrimp. I had the seafood trio. Delicious! The seafood bisque is beyond this world. Just go! Splurge! Our bill was $101 and that included two meals, a cup of the seafood bisque and a bottle of wine! So worth it! Cannot wait to go back!

Just a coupla girls looking to score some tail... Lobster Tail! This is not a mixed review - everything was great. Starting with the sweet white Sangria and escargot - two of my favorites. Friend had red wine and crab stuffed mushroom caps. The bread was a definite point of discussion. It was two large, blonde buns - or two very small loafs (for you pessimists) but it was weightless-- like cotton candy! So fabulous! House salad was colorful and fresh and actually quite large. Me: Seafood Trio. Friend: Crab Stuffed Lobster - both were very good, all of the seafood was tender and flavorful and portions were the perfect size. We both chose the twice baked potato and they were yummy. We split a cheesecake which was a large caramel covered piece of heaven served with a side of whipped cream and strawberries. For a rainy, chilly March night - this evening was perfect and more than satisfied our lobster needs. Oh yes, and we hung out and chatted long after our table was cleared and bills were paid, but they just kept refilling our water glasses while we enjoyed each other's company - GREAT EVENING!

I love The Nest! Whenever I am in the area, I come for the lobster...it is some of the best in the best in the U.S. Something that is unique to The Nest is the fried prawn appetizer. It is absolutely delicious! The food and service is always consistent. I have been coming here for over 20 years, and have never had food or service that is less this excellent. Ask for Kim as your server; she is the best!!

I looked over the other reviews prior to writing mine, like I normally do. Mostly out of curiosity. Its seems that most folks either love or hate The Nest. Me, I'd give it a 3.5...if there was one. My husband and I have visited The Nest on about 7 or 8 occasions over the past several years. I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal or bad service. I can't really say that it's been outstanding, either. So, to summarize: Pros: I prefer a booth, but the setup is cute and rather charming. The restaurant and bathrooms are clean. The food is usually very good. Salads are mixed greens, not just iceburg, which I can't stand. I usually get the stuffed shrimp with a twice baked potato. I've had the Seafood Trio and both are yummy. My husband usually gets the New York Strip or the Seafood Trio, and is always happy with his meal. That's not saying much though, because he'll eat pretty much anything. The service is always fine, never had an issue. Also, if you're going to get dessert, the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream is delicious! The cake is served warm and is not overly sweet, like say birthday cake would be. Cons: Price...can't get a meal and a non-alcoholic drink for under $25. It's a little pricey for the quantity of food you get. Meals are served with regular bread or garlic bread, but it's meh. Inconsistency...sometimes it's super busy and a reservation is definitely necessary. Other times, not so much. On our last visit (which was a week night at 6:30), there was only one other couple in the whole place, and they left about 5 minutes after we were seated. No one else came in the entire time, so we were literally the only people in the place for an hour or so, besides the two waitresses and the kitchen staff. It was a little awkward. Lastly, location....really, that's all I have to say about that.

Wow. I gave the Nest another try, and I am so glad I did! I recently came here with a group. Service was excellent and extremely professional. The wine list leaves a bit to be desired as far as quality goes, but still not bad. I ordered the stuffed mushroom caps for an appetizer. These were stuffed with their crab stuffing, which seems to consist of onions and carrots along with lump crab meat. Very good! Next I ordered the veal with crab. Again excellent option! The veal was slightly pan fried with a bit of what I believe to be cheese, and lump crab meat. This was sooooo delicious and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who doesn't have a problem eating veal. E Really everyone at our dinner table was impressed with the meal. People had lobsters, steak, shrimp, etc. All was great! I can't wait to come back.

I actually give this place a 3.5, I wish they had that option. I've never had good seafood in Pittsburgh for the 5 years that I've lived here. The Nest I would say is the best so far for seafood. Our table got a few appetizers including the crab cake, the sampler, seafood bisque, and cheesy bread. All were fine, but nothing special. My favorite was the seafood bisque. For an entree I got the 5oz lobster tail which was $25, a little much for a small amount of lobster. However, you do get two sides, I got the salad and green beans and they both were very good. Overall, it's not a bad place. It is a little overpriced and honestly whenever I go out to get seafood here I wish I was living back in Boston again with the real stuff.

Went here last night on a friend's recommendation and it was spectacular! We were in nearby Greensburg for a conference & we called to make reservations for 10. They were very accommodating, which pleased us all. Dana was our server an made terrific recommendations for our entrees since nobody had ever been before. She was spot on with everything she recommended. Most of the menu is seafood and steaks, but there are other entrees as well, but the seafood was the draw for all of us. The dish that a few of us got was the Seafood Platter. Consisted of a lobster tail, 3 giant scallops, 2 colossal shrimp & a crab cake on a bed of rice. Came with 2 sides, and It was so good, that the entire table went quiet!! Perfectly cooked, and no shortage of food! A couple of the guys got the surf & turf and said the steaks were very tender and flavorful. Everyone was extremely pleased with the meal. We were lucky enough to get a table by the window, and it was great. The rest of the set up of the restaurant was a little less to my liking. The tables were all in a row instead of broken up, so when you think you're in a private table, you really are not. That is my only negative. But the bar area was very nice and the bathroom was beautifully appointed, except for the large mirror facing the toilet! LOL That was a bit weird. If you're ever in this area, I would highly recommend taking the trip. The location doesn't look like much, as the area is kind of "depressed" but don't let that stop you. You won't be disappointed! And ask for Dana....she was awesome!

Great little non chain restaurant my grand dad used to take me to it. Really like the uniqueness and classic small town location. If you like seafood you wont be disappointed.

Best seafood and steaks around! Lobster tails are amazing! After reading some reviews I don't know how people can complain, if you want cheap seafood then go to red lobster. I have been to the Nest hundreds of times and never had a bad tail. Never. The Nest is always quality with reasonable prices. Management and wait staff aim to please. The Nest is a true Gem in Jeanette.

It has been a few years since I have been to The Nest. The staff was great and the food was very well prepared. Nothing really jumped off of the plate tp me as incredible and the only complaint that I had was the bartender was lackluster. I dined here during the Kentucky Derby and wanted a mint julep as a way of getting into the event. After a few minutes our waitress told us that the bar did not have the ingredients. That might have been the case, but its my understanding that a mint julep is made from water, bourbon, sugar, and mint leaf. Not exactly the hardest ingredients to find in a restaurant. I'm looking forward to my next visit because I did enjoy myself. The 3 is simply because nothing exactly stood out as fantastic or horrible and I tend to rate somewhat harshly and if I'm looking for seafood in the Pittsburgh area I'm more prone to go to Monterey Bay (although if I want seafood and am looking for lobster and crab I will definitely go to The Nest).
