I had the Shrimp Diablo. It was the most incredible painfully heat intensive experience I have ever LOVED...!!! Tears were flowing from my eyes, it was so good. Ghost Peppers maybe? I don't know. They would not tell me. One thing for sure, I can't wait for the next time. Well worth my 5 Stars review.

Another dinner out in Western PA and another place with really good food that left me wanting for service. At the suggestions of very good local friends we ate here as two families. Food-wise I have no complaints - from the enchiladas to the burritos, to even the quesadillas ordered everything was plentiful and tasty. But for the second time consecutive, the wait service was lacking. I prefer a glass with my beer that I waited for quite some time, my wife and her old high school friend had to wait on refills to their drinks, and even the adult kids waited for seconds on water of all things. Not sure was is going on here with service in this part of the country, but I'm beginning to see a trend I hope changes.

Ok. I read all the reviews and have to be honest. This place was poor. Cleanliness and service was sub-par. If you have a choice, bypass this place and go elsewhere. I might give them a pass if they would have provided friendly, premium service, but it just didn't happen. Good luck!

I was very disappointed. My husband and I went for lunch. I ordered a chicken taco salad and when it was brought to me there was raw chicken in my salad. When I showed the waiter they argued with me that it was a tomato. I had no tomatoes in my Salad and it was defiantly raw chicken.

I love this place great food excellent friendly service and affordable prices. I've never had a bad visit here and have been a regular since the first day they opened. They have a bar for those who r looking for that which has descent drink prices. Plenty of dining room area so u can bring a group and a kids menu for the little ones. My fav meal here starts every time with the queso fundido with chorizo then either fajita nachos which are excellent chimichangas. The burritos r also great here. The burrito California and the the burritos Mexicanos r my favorite 2 choices. Whatever u order I'm sure u will b happy u stopped

I have eaten twice at this restaurant in the space of a couple of weeks. The first time, I was unimpressed with the service but the food was plentiful and tasty. Last evening was the second and perhaps last time that I will be dining at their fine establishment. The waiter had a grim look on his face when he got to our table. He took our order in a "Hurry up already" manner so if I had any questions about something on the menu, I stifled it. When he came out with our dinner, the waiter unceremoniously slung the plates down and hurried off. We began the meal with chips and spinach dip. The spinach dip consisted of cooked spinach in a yellow sauce without any kind of spicy flavor. No small plates were provided to portion ourselves out the chips and to catch the food that didn't make it to our mouths. We ordered chicken quesadillas and were sorely disappointed. We were served cubes of cooked chicken inside nearly burnt soft taco shells. No other ingredients were included and there were no sides like re-fried beans or rice. It was dry and bland and even Taco Bell has done better than this. We needed more napkins but our waiter had already disappeared. At the end of the meal, I asked for a "to go" box so I could take my leftovers home. I scraped my remaining quesadilla into the box and included the rest of the spinach dip. It was an awkward task because our set of silverware lacked spoons. All in all, it was an unpleasant experience. Who wants to eat at a restaurant where you feel like you're an inconvenience to the wait staff.

Everytime, I'm in town I Def make an effort to eat here...I was a fan of their Chicken Fajitas Dinner portion. After today's visit, I'm disappointed. The chicken tasted old and the entire dish was dry and seemed reheated or something off. It wasn't fresh... And the service was not great. The waiter slammed and slid my hot plate over and then the bean and rice plate...Something happened to this place. The entire meal tasted a few days old. I don't care to pay for leftovers.

I tried it based on the reviews on here, but I wish I had gone to Taco Bell. That's my go-to place for sub-par white-washed Mexican food. The menu selection was not so good, the chips and salsa were ok, the prices are high for quality and quantity of food, and idk where the cheese was. I think because they charge $1.50-$3.00 for a side of cheese, they can just skip it on the recipes to make more $. I had a quesadilla with no cheese. They should call it a "dilla" since the queso was nowhere to be found. Same goes with the burrito. No cheese. The rice was well seasoned, but had random bits of canned mixed veggies in it for no reason. I have been to Mexico and have lived in Texas, this is Tex-Mex but the worst I've ever had. Sorry fans! Do your Caucasian taste buds a favor, go to Rey Azteca instead. Worth the drive.

Always get the lunch fajitas or soft tacos. Love it everytime. Very good. I don't much appreciate paying 1.50 for sour cream though, I feel it rather arrogant to charge for something that is so intricate to the culture of food, but oh well. service isn't all that great, but they are nice people. I honestly attribute that to a culture gap as well.

Half way thru dinner we get our check even tho I was planning on ordering desert. Food was mediocre and service was limited and poor. I felt like I was being rushed out.

the food is great the drinks are good the only complaint i have is that i do not speak spanish so looking at the menu is overwhelming they need pictures to go along with the menu if they did i know i would try different things but i don't like to keep asking "whats this"

Just like the reviewer before me, I really really didn't want to like this place--not only am I a fan of their primary competitor, I like the owners a lot...but, I've decided to be grateful, enjoy both, and hope that our small town can support two good Mexi joints. Tres Amigos is easy to get to, the food is awesome, the margaritas are excellent...it's an unpretentious place where you can go with a family, but it's nice enough for a little romance.

I dunno. Perhaps it was too hyped up by other people, but I wasn't incredibly impressed. My husband really liked his steak burrito, but the only thing I really enjoyed were the free chips and salsa. That's why it gets 3 stars instead of 2. A few friends raved about their margaritas, but warned me that they were strong. However, while my margarita was tasty, I don't think there was an ounce of tequila in it. Very very disappointed. Then again, I was amazed that happy hour put the margaritas at $3 each, so...whatever. It's still a good deal, even if I just got a smoothie. I'll give it another shot, maybe. I went to IUP and have since moved to Pittsburgh. My husband's family is from there, but we only wind up eating out a few times a year when visiting. I will probably be more likely to feel nostalgic for Coney wings or Culpepper's spinach artichoke dip and head downtown instead.

I guess I just don't get it, or maybe I have bad taste. The bathrooms aren't clean. The food is kinda bland. Had to wait to get our check, then pay. The server didn't write anything down, but checked back four times with our table to double check our orders.

Average service. Seemed to be out of all the drinks we wanted. Food mediocre. We expected a lot better from what we've read in previous reviews.

This is darn good Mexican food. FRESH, Fresh Fresh !! Our shrimp was cooked perfectly, the salsa was fresh, the chips were warm and crispy and the service was real good. The food did not taste at all like chain pre made garbage, you could tell all the vegetables were fresh and food was not covered in cheese and sauces. They were very accommodating with the few changes we made to our order. Will definitely be back to try some of the other things on the menu.

Coming from Los Angeles, my standards for Mexican food are high. And this restaurant certainly is up to standard. If you're looking for quality good at a good price--and enjoy a good margarita-- then this is the place. It's the real thing, folks. One of the best restaurants in Indiana for sure.

The food here is consistently good and service is exceptional. The steak fajitas are my go to. The lunch specials are especially reasonable. My one complaint would be the older woman waitress. I've only had her twice and on both occasions she was terribly rude. On the one occasion she took my fiancé and our two friends orders and not mine. I spoke up as she was walking away to inform her and she actually rolled her eyes and acted annoyed.

Meh. They got 2/4 orders wrong and, although attentive, I feel like we were being rushed. I ate the chilequiles with chicken, even though I ordered beef. The chicken was very tender and the sauce was tasty. I ended up eating it with the chips on the table because I'm used to eating it with crispy tortillas and the tortillas that came with the meal were soggy. Th Mexican rice was some if the best I've had at a restaurant, but the guacamole was terribly bland. Thw fajitas were pretty tasty and even though it was different from what I'm used to, my mom's chicken mole was pretty decent. They messed up my brothers tacos though. I mean, how hard of an order are soft tacos to get right? The server even knew they were wrong and brought them anyhow. Not terrible, but I guess there's a reason I never liked Mexican food until I moved out of the area.

Tres Amigos was pretty good, in my opinion. It is very similar to another Mexican restaurant in Indiana called Cosumel, yet different at the same time. The atmosphere in Tres Amigos is much more upbeat and "fun"; with music playing in the background, lights dimmed as you walk in, and a friendly waitstaff. I ordered a combination platter which consisted of two items from the list of options (taco, burrito, quesadilla, enchilada, chalupa, tamale, chile poblano, or a beef and cheese tostada). The two things that I chose were the enchilada and the tamale. The combination platter came with rice and beans (I got double rice because I'm not too fond of refried beans). The rice was very flavorful and had a bit of spice to it. The enchilada and tamale were both very delicious and cooked perfectly in their traditional sauces. I was very pleased with the specialty drinks on the menu as well. I ordered the horni margarita (typical margarita with a splash of orange juice), and although it was a tad too strong for my taste, it was very tasty. Our waiter checked on us a little bit too often, but being a waitress myself I understand that you must do what you're told; a.k.a. if your manager tells you to check on your tables every two minutes, you must do so. The prices were very fair and were appropriate for the portions that you receive and the quality of the food. I would recommend Tres Amigos to anybody in the Indiana area. P.S. to the waiter that carried FIVE steaming hot dinner plates on his arm at one time: you are the ultimate server.

The food is good, though the service can be somewhat slow. I sometimes have special requests that they are quick to accommodate, which is always nice. The atmosphere is the same as most Mexican restaurants in America - so no surprises there. Overall, a great place to get your Mexican fix!

What a great find! A large and varied menu with some items I have never seen before, delicious well-seasoned food, generous portions, attentive service, very reasonable prices and free chips accompanied by salsa that has a nice cilantro snap!

My sister and I stopped in for lunch and were very pleased. The service is excellent. The servers were attentive and our food came out very quickly. They give you free chips and salsa but I recommend also getting the cheese sauce, it's very tasty. We both got the chicken fajitas and the plates were plentiful and the food was delicious! Oh and it's cheap too! I look forward to going back to try more from their menu.

what a great mexican place! Possibly the best restaurant in town, their service is by far superior to any restaurant i have ever been to. A team of waiters is at your service and they get you anything they want. their prices are way, way way too good for the amount of food you get and it's hot and delicious. My one qualm is that their vegetarian offerings are slim (like one or two items on the menu) and i'm pretty sure they cook their rice with meat. but i just don't eat it, and focus on the other heaping items on my plate. delicious! Some of their waiters don't speak very good english, but talk slowly and they understand what you are saying. The guacamole is amazing, and everything is hot and fast and delicious! They also have a full bar and their margaritas aren't an arm and leg, although they are strong. but good! i love this place!

Nothing usual about this Mexican restaurant. The restaurant is clean. The service is very good. The food is good.

Quick service. We've never waited longer than 10 minutes for our meals. The food is very good. The staff isn't personable. They just take your order and fill drinks while barely speaking.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
