A wedding in a barn may sound like something found in a more rural part of the country, and between two cousins. This however was none of that. This was beautiful, classy, and fun. I attended the wedding for my cousin and her now husband here. Upon arriving on the site, we stood in awe of how gorgeous in was. The estate is absolutely breathtaking. It's the place where people dream to be wed. Luckily enough there wasn't a cloud in the sky, and the wedding occurred outdoors. A little hot, but no reason to worry. We were cooled off by delicious Moscow Mule slushies. The ceremony was really touching. The setting was perfect. It couldn't have gone better. We had cocktail hour outside. Soaking up some more sun, and plenty of libations. Some more of the Moscow Mules helped endure the sun. I always enjoy messing with the servers. They usually have to explain what they are serving when walking around with a not so obvious dish. I like to ask people with cocktail shrimp what it is, just to see their reaction. We then headed into the barn to get the party started. Dancing, drinks, and a fine meal, helped make this a special evening. The staff was working hard to accommodate everyone and to get them what they wanted. My only quarrel is they mixed up a food order, but we just accepted it. There was even an after party with pizza and s'mores next door. My sister let me up to her room at the inn to change. The rooms are amazing. Hot tub, tons of space. Seems like a great place to stay. Once the last shuttle came, it was time to go. Thank you, Barley Sheaf Farm. This is a dream place to get married.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in the ominously named (yet adorable styled) "No Place to Go" room this past weekend for my best friend's wedding. The room was warm and cozy, the balcony was adorable, the steam shower was a treat and the hospitality really stood out. I was feeling rather under the weather and everyone was offering me tea and lemon and I just felt so cared for. On top of all that, they did a great job tending to my friend who got married there. The staff was amazing, the grounds were beautiful and everything went perfectly. It was such a low-key, yet elegant wedding and I will never forget how warm and welcomed we felt during the weekend. To any prospective brides, this was an excellent venue that was beautiful, quaint, timeless and understated all at once. And to anyone thinking about booking a weekend getaway, it was a lovely, relaxing and beautiful place to unwind; you know, if butterflies, flowers and stars are your kind of thing.

I spent the weekend at the inn for an event and had a wonderful time. The service was first rate, the food was "out of this world" and the accommodations were amazing. The rooms are beautifully decorated with nice views of the countryside. You would be hard pressed to find a nicer inn to spend a special weekend or to celebrate a wedding.

Where do we begin? We had our wedding at the Inn At Barley Sheaf Farm on May 16, 2015. It was absolutely everything we had hoped and dreamed it would be! We were immediately drawn to the Barley Sheaf by its natural beauty, well-kept grounds, gorgeous historic Inn and Mark's (the owner) hospitality. He spent hours giving us a thorough tour and answering the myriad of questions we had about the prospective venue. Following our meeting, we went to visit another property in the area and made a special trip back to The Barley Sheaf before heading back to NYC knowing this was the place we wanted to have our wedding. We went out for a tasting and had multiple meetings with Joliene (the Inn's event coordinator) over the course of the year to make sure every detail of our wedding would be perfect. Joliene has extensive experience working in event planning and her dedication and organizational skills made our special weekend run flawlessly. She is a wealth of knowledge regarding local vendors and worked easily with our team (florist/decorator, officiant, musicians, photographer, hair stylists) throughout the weekend. We ended up renting out the Barley Sheaf for Friday (rehearsal dinner), Saturday (the outdoor wedding/cocktail hour and "barn" reception including a bonfire after party) and Sunday (farewell brunch). Joliene was there the entire weekend making sure everything ran smoothly. Mark and his wife Deena are unbelievable hosts and their passion and dedication to making our day perfect was incredible. They too were at the Barley Sheaf from Thursday evening as we put welcome bags together until Monday morning when they saw us off as we left for home. They have put attention and detail into every aspect of the Inn from hiring an amazing team (chefs, servers, bartenders, house matrons and cleaning ladies) to immaculately kept grounds, luxurious linens and high end products in each room. The food and chefs are exceptional and our guests raved about the quality of the food all weekend long. We cannot say enough positive things about this special haven in Buck's County. The unbelievable memories we have from this momentous time in our lives are a direct result of the amazing love Mark and Deena have for their craft. We sincerely recommend this as a potential wedding venue for those looking! Meaghen and Doug

My family held a 60th anniversary for my parents (love you mom and dad!) this weekend and the service at Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm was absolutely wonderful. From start to finish, Mark and Mona helped us plan the event and made sure everyone had an incredible time. They worked with us on the times, drinks, foods, everything. The Inn is magnificent, really a pretty location and the food was delicious. Unfortunately the weather didn't comply and we couldn't take advantage of the beautiful landscaping and grounds as much as we would have liked, but such is life. Not sure where to begin with the food, each dish we had was better than the last dish. The staff was never in the way, always available when we needed something. Thank you so much Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm, hopefully when MsD and I get to 60 years we can have as lovely an event.

My husband and I were married at the Inn way back in 1990. We rented the entire Inn for the weekend and had an amazing time with family and friends staying with us. We always said we would go back, but there was a change in ownership and it didn't have the same vibe. Throughout the years the inn was not open to the public for dinner, so what a pleasant surprise to find out a few months ago that the current owners have opened the inn for brunch and dinner. We have been to both and the food and the service were excellent. Byob for dinner, complimentary mimosas for brunch. Given the ambiance and the quality of the food we thought it was very reasonable and we will definitely be back!

Much like the rest of the reviewers, I was up here for a wedding; not my own, but a relatives. The Barley Sheaf was a great spot with great service, everyone had an amazing time and the event went off without a hitch. I guess there are three aspects to this place: lodging, rehearsal dinner, wedding, reception. Lodging. The rooms are named after plays written by a previous owner, George S. Kaufman--though that's neither here nor there, just a piece of trivia for you. The rooms are spacious and the temperature can easily be controlled. Some rooms come with a jacuzzi which is always fun, a fire place which is ALWAYS fun, and a balcony. Some other reviewers commented on being able to hear other rooms and I can attest that the walls are quite thin so I'd invest in headphones or ear plugs just in case. All the amenities are wonderful from bed to shower to tiny refrigerator full of tiny refrigerated items. There is also a swimming pool outside which someone said was spring fed; those who swam in it said it was awesome. They also have since been found to be immortal, so there's that too. Rehearsal dinner. Done buffet style this dinner was awesome, there isn't anything left to say about that. Good job. Actually, special recognition goes out to the bar tender for being super friendly . Wedding. The wedding was in a field next to the B&B, placed between two trees. The setup was idea, save for the angle of the sun which left the left side of the audience either blind or holding their program to shield their face, and rightfully so since the bride was an 11 out of 10. Overall, it was beautifully set up and executed. The reception. The cocktail hour lived up to it's name with two bar tenders whipping up everything from gin in a glass with a gin back to cosmos. The wedding party provided the booze so there were even some homemade specialties which won the day. In the farmhouse of the B&B is the function room which sat 16 or 17 tables, a bar (with an ice luge--yeah, my family knows how to party, what of it?), and a DJ. Thee food was delicious, not your typical wedding food with miniature carrots. The dance floor could be called cozy or small depending on your level of optimism, but when you're family it's all good. We danced our faces off, drank all the alcohols, and the BSF made it happen. Bottom Line: I can only hope that one of my weddings comes close to being as wonderful as this one was.

What can I say about my experience here? It was amazing. My fiancé proposed and then surprised me with a night away at this inn. From the minute we walked in, it was wonderful. Once they found out we were just engaged, they upgraded us to the honeymoon suite. They sent a bottle of wine up to our room as a congratulations gift. Our room was beautiful and our stay was wonderful. I couldn't have asked for anything more to make our engagement more perfect. We will be back.

Fancy, yet classic B&B Note: This is not the type of place I had ever imagined staying at - however some dear friends had a beautiful wedding here (from what I heard the staff was very helpful and accommodating). The B&B is a lovely set of beautiful old buildings with a small barn area where there are animals. The grounds are well kept and the buildings are clean and beautiful. The wedding took place in the field outside, near some large old trees. The rest was in a tent and the dining area of the B&B. Very nice feel - could walk wherever on the property. The menu was amazing - they offered a lot of vegetarian dishes. The waitstaff is attentive, helpful and the food was awesome. At breakfast, the spread was impressive, and you could order omelets and pancakes in addition to the cornucopia of food. The chefs were even willing to accommodate weird diets. The rooms were cozy, and intricate (ours was large and complete with fireplace, TV, coffee maker, Fridge, Jacuzzi, multi-jetted shower) and the beds were comfy. From what I saw of the suites, they were huge and ornate. Everyone we encountered was very nice, and it was truly a wonderful stay. Personally, I am not normally willing to pay this much per room per night - but as a romantic get away, or for people who are into this type of thing - this is a really nice place. Bonus: there were 2 vegan (and soy-free)-friendly restaurants within 20 miles (!!!).

I lived in the area for years and was not aware The Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm served dinner to the those who are not staying overnight or attending a large event. I was with a party of four; all appetizers, entrees and desserts were excellent as was the service. A very nice experience at a classic Bucks County property.

The Barley Sheaf is such a magical place. The grounds are pristine and the service impeccable. I celebrated my wedding at The Barley Sheaf on May 4th and everything truly turned out to be perfect. After viewing several B&B's in the area following our engagement, we knew the second we stepped foot onto the grounds that this was the place for our big event. Everyone, including the owners, was so warm and welcoming. The rooms are by far the nicest in the area offering such elegant charm and character. The day of our wedding, we had unpredicted rain in the morning making us a bit nervous as our ceremony was planned outdoors. The staff was immediately accommodating. They not only arranged seating for both outdoors and indoors as a back-up but stood outside with a blower drying the grass so they we can have our dream outdoor wedding. Our guests endlessly complemented the food provided that night. We opted for a split plate of short ribs and cod which both were phenomenal. Joliene, the events coordinator, was a huge help throughout the whole process as she fulfilled all of our last minute requests no matter how tedious. We can't thank her enough!! I have not one negative thing to say about the venue, staff or service as they provided a perfect wedding weekend. I look forward to spending many upcoming anniversaries at the Inn.

Yeah it's expensive, but the service blew my socks off. Like exquisite afternoon cookie snacks on the house. Rooms are really wonderful.

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend getaway recently and it turned out to be even better than we expected!! The Inn is a two minute drive to Peddler's Village and less than a 15 minute drive to New Hope. As soon as we walked in the door, we were greeted by Mona, who offered us champagne with a smile and gave us a tour of the Inn. She was incredibly nice and encouraged us to come down for free wine and cheese at four o'clock (a nice surprise!). We met the new owner who chatted with us for a bit and seemed really nice as well. Our room was very clean and charming and we even had a stocked fridge filled with water and soda that was complementary. The next day, we had breakfast the Inn which turned out to be included as well. The breakfast was really good and you could order as much as you wanted. Our server (wish I could remember her name!) was SO sweet! Breakfast even included free mimosas! What struck me the most was the pleasantness of the staff. It definitely made this place stand out (even if it's not particularly cheap) and we look forward to coming back! We also enjoyed all the little touches (wine, stocked fridge, breakfast) that were included!!

This inn has a really cool history (owned by the playwright George Kaufman) and has been visited by plenty of literary guests, including John Steinbeck. So I would definitely recommend it to any serious readers out there, or fans of American theatre or literature. Although we only spent one night there, we enjoyed a very delicious, set-course dinner with everything from white truffle soup to beef tenderloin and pumpkin-ginger ice cream. The breakfast was also delicious, with both a buffet and made-to-order specials (like our pistacio-pumpkin pancakes) and an open-air kitchen. The staff is really friendly, and we had a big room (suite really) in a former stable that dates back to the 1840s with a giant fireplace. A little out of the way, but an all-around great stay I would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Please do not let the photos on their website or the manager's promises fool you. This Inn may be ideal for a couple celebrating their Anniversary, birthday etc... for 1-2 nights...from the reviews I read from Mike and Amanda. BUT NOT IDEAL FOR A WEDDING!!! I will definitely write more details about the disappointments. AGAIN, DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE FOR A LARGE PARTY OR WEDDING!!! Unfortunately, the staff, property, food, rooms, etc...are not equipped or hold a level of etiquette or service for this kind of special day/event. I was a wedding guest and Was flabbergasted by a number of things! I am fortunate the accommodations were covered by the bride and groom. This was minor but worth mentioning...Was told there was Free wifi but I was not given a password if there was any and I had NO connection in the room.

This is my boyfriends account: I cant say enough about this wonderful experience. Stepping into this B&B was like stepping into a Chateau, so full of charm and warmth. Staff was amazing and completely accommodating. My first time here was with my boyfriend and his family for breakfast. The food was delicious and dinning room had picturesque views of the grounds. We were given a tour of each room in the Manor House plus the cottage and barn house. Each room had its unique style and decor which I absolutely loved. We were so taken by this place my boyfriend and I went back for a pre-Valentines day 6 course dinner with wine paring. I am a vegetarian and they we able to adjust the menu to fit my needs. An absolute must, I'm a picky girl from NYC and it totally won me over.

Absolute magical. Very old and gorgeous inside and out. Wine and cheese from 4-6. We stayed in the once in a life time suite. It's fabulous. There are also cottages and rooms in a separate building away from the inn. I think they all would be wonderful. The breakfast in the morning was very good too. We will be coming back here again.

Where do I start. I have such a hard time with leaving mediocre/average or poor reviews of businesses, especially local businesses in this economy. I am fair and honest and non-confrontational. I looked at some of the prior reviews and felt that some of the reviews left no longer apply to the Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm and feel like the staff/owners made efforts to improve previously stated negative/mediocre concerns in past reviews. I have stayed at many Select Registries (as this is one on the Select Registry list/website). Select Registry has consistently been our go-to for locating top notch, luxurious vacation lodging. I also love Conde Nast. In addition to inns or bed and breakfasts I have also the chance to stay at some very nice hotels. That being said, I feel like I have a good sampling base to go by when I go about my review for an inn that charged us $400/night (we stayed two nights and had dinner there, as well as breakfast both days) - dinner was extra and breakfast is included. We were there for New Year's Eve so it was a very busy night the second night we stayed there. More specifically, we stayed in the Bagger On Horseback Suite Pros: The Breakfast: as everyone previously stated, was amazing. The food was great and the service was top-notch. My only negative is breakfast was the same two days in a row on a weekend. It didn't leave much to experience the second day. The Staff: they were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful when it came for suggestions of local attractions and spots. This historical charm and decor. I liked the way they decorated and felt that the grounds were nicely maintained. CONS: The timing of the New Year's Eve Dinner - they gave us our toasting champagne glass and dessert at 10ish and when we finished said "you are free to go, if you want". I was expecting the dinner to be a celebration into the new year as I have experienced at other fine dinning establishments. Our room was not a $400/night room. It was okay. But the bed (as previously noted in other reviews) was terrible. I honestly had a better night sleep on the couch rather than the king size bed (I ditched my husband to be more comfortable and closer to the bathroom). The whirlpool tub is nice but in a terrible location and very dark - they should either consider dimmer switch lighting or electric candles or something. Plus at the end of the New Year's Eve dinner I wanted to take a bath (my husband has no interest so it's not "TMI") but there was no hot water. The other annoying thing about our suite, specifically, was the bathroom was on the first floor and the bedroom on the second floor - for a 5 month pregnant person who gets up and uses the bathroom several times a night, this was really super annoying and I feel it is worth mentioning on the website. Staff: the first night we did not get turndown service, I did not know that they did turn down service until the second night when they made up the bed and put cookies on the bed. At no point in our stay did they replenish the complimentary beverages in our fridge (I drank the sprite/root beer they had in their the first night), the did not replenish the toiletries either at turn-down or at any point during their daily housekeeping, they did not replace our towels. Nor do they give you two soaps so you need to wash your hands with the same soap you used in the shower. I feel like the staff should be consistent on turndown service (do it or don't do it but mention you are doing it - we didn't know they were going to do it and would have put away our laptop, camera, purse, etc).......and housekeeping should replenish towels, toiletries daily unless you specifically make it clear you are not doing that on a daily basis. NOW THE BEST/WORST PART The couple staying in the suite next to us.....well no wonder the girl was smoking a cigarette on her deck the next morning. 11:30 pm I hear squeaking bed and then "OH GOD! OH GOD! F*** YEAH...." then a variety of moans and words from the couple until 11:45. But it was in full on stereo, like we were in their room. Then 2:15am rolls around (I am thinking geez louise these people are animals!) - I honestly do not care what people do in their room, I would like it to remain that way. Especially at a $400/night place. So 2:15 rolls around and I get the same parade of words (my husband was completely asleep in a wine-induced sleep - I can't drink wine or I would have been in the same coma)....UGH seriously could they put up insulation or a sound machine in our room....then SERIOUSLY it goes on again at 4:30 am - but at this point I am laying downstairs on the couch and I can still hear it, despite being on a different floor. Then again we heard it before breakfast around 8:45 am. Fine, I don't care if you are all busy people. I personally, was looking to sleep in and sleep well all weekend. All in all, I was disappointed and would unlikely suggest anyone pay to stay here.

We got married 4 days before Thanksgiving and didn't want to go far from home for our honeymoon. We love New Hope and we saw the web site for Barley Sheaf and thought it looked like the perfect place. We stayed for three nights and had a great time! We stayed in the You Can't Take it With You Suite. It was amazing! The breakfast was out of this world and the spa service was great. We received an afternoon snack everyday which was also phenomenal. I would recommend Barley Sheaf to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area and we will definitely return for one of our anniversaries!

I looked at Barley Sheaf for an event next year. We set up a meeting with Lola, who said she was the owner. We toured the grounds and fell in love with the scenery. We decided we wanted to have our event there even though the price was high for us. We then continued to call them for 2-weeks straight trying to get them to send us over a written agreement. Finally a woman that we had never heard from before got back to us to let us know that the price we were given was incorrect, and was actually $50.00 more PER PERSON! This was such an outrageous jump in price for no reason. They would not honor the price we were given in writing. They were extremely unprofessional about the whole thing. The price increase made Barley Sheaf completely not affordable, and we had to walk away. We ended up booking with Holly Hedge Estate down the road from them, which was a MUCH cheaper price, and way better service. I would NOT suggest supporting this B&B, where there are tons of others in this are that are way better.

I actually did not end up staying at The Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm, but did have high hopes to. My husband and I had just gotten married (in June) and the next day we were going to the Lambertville/New Hope area and were hoping to spend the evening overnight at a nearby bed and breakfast. I love B&B's so much-they just have a charm that you simply cannot find in a hotel. This place looked perfect...I was so excited about the possibility of staying here. We called up and the woman who answered the phone was quite possibly one of the rudest people that we have ever spoken to at a B&B! I had checked the availability online before calling the inn and was thrilled when the site showed that there was an available room. We preferred to book over the phone versus on the internet so when my husband called he asked about availability (we know that the internet reservation systems for lodgings are not always accurate and up to date). When he began to talk about the rooms/rates the woman couldn't have cared any less to be dealing with him. She seemed bothered, in fact, by our phone call. She said that she had someone else on the other line and actually had the gall to tell him that he can look at everything on their website!!! That is fine if she was in the middle of something at that moment-we are not of an impatient nature. The correct thing would have been for her to politely tell us that she would call us back momentarily and ask for a number that we could be reached at, and that then she would be more than happy to assist us. I have a few favorite choice B&B's of all time and although not every single inn that we stay at turns out to be a wonderful place I don't really ever recall anyone running one being so rude and indifferent. That just shows that The Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm isn't the "full package"-that just because someone owns and runs a beautiful property doesn't mean that they care about their customers or potential ones, have manners, or the skill that it takes to be successful in this industry. From all of our stays at bed and breakfasts over the years my husband and I are insightful enough to know that the people who run these sort of establishments truly do "make the place". Although it killed me to stay at a hotel the evening after our wedding, in this case I was MORE THAN HAPPY TO support the hotel industry!

This historic location nestled in nature's greenery is such a beautiful place to stay and unwind, especially for a city gal like myself who is used to superchain hotel accommodations. The long driveway in to the Inn is lined with trees and led up to a peaceful tricking sound of water falling from the water fountain; this experience made me feel like I was a part of Thoreau's Walden. Upon checking in, I was pleasantly surprised by the upgraded appliances like the steam shower, whirlpool bath tub, and electronic fireplace paired with the historical furnishings in the room. The rooms came with a mini fridge stocked with waters and sodas & the bathroom included my favorite Bvlgari toiletries set and a great blow dryer (this makes a big difference for those who have long and heavy hair..!). I was fortunate enough to stay in the Manor House and experience both the You Can't Take it With You suite that had a cool Art Deco style to the room and the Dancing in the Dark suite that was more French European. When I first checked in, I spent some time really appreciating the historical/interesting objects in the rooms, like the typewriter that was in the You Can't Take it With You suite and the cool Italian Greyhound statue inside the Dancing in the Dark Suite. (I'll post some pictures up on Yelp) Overall, it was such a lovely and relaxing stay that I didn't want to leave!

Great experience! There was a little confusion concerning our room, but the owner went out of his way to remedy the situation. Their customer service more then exceeded my expectations. Barley Sheaf is a gorgeous property with amazing food and an attentive staff. I also love that they have a pet friendly suite. I would definitely stay here again and will recommend it to friends and family!

Just Married at this beautiful Inn: Everything was PERFECT! From the moment we walked into the 1740s Manor House and met with Deena, we knew this was THE place for our wedding. We wanted an elegant, chic, small, intimate wedding and the Inn at Barley Sheaf exceeded all our expectations. Deena walked us through luxuriously appointed sleeping rooms, each bearing a theatrical reference or the name of a play by the property's former resident, mid-century creative luminary George S. Kaufman. Beds are made up with the finest linens from Europe; plus fluffy feather beds and down comforters. We fell in love with "Stage Door," with its enclosed porch with a deep soaking tub and chaise. The gas fireplace ignites at the touch of a button and has a timer. There's a gorgeous, painted mural on the ceiling and tasteful art deco furnishings. The marble bathroom had a basket of Bulgari soaps. Nice! Our ceremony took place in the living room, in front of a roaring fire. The mild weather allowed us to take photos on the breathtaking grounds and against the exteriors of the house. Our party gathered in the sun-filled dining room for a delicious, elegant brunch. Every member of the staff was cheerful, friendly and attentive. Our guests raved about the food. I savored the smoked salmon appetizer. I was happy to find Numi green tea in the box, and they gave us our own teapots. The barbeque shrimp and grits had just the right balance of flavor and freshness. Our guests loved the place and we canceled plans to eat elsewhere on Sunday because our group could not get enough of this cozy, gorgeous inn. We eagerly look forward to returning to the Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm!
