My friend was having a retirement breakfast here. Got a nice omelet and home fries, as i learned are basically hash browns. In the end plenty of good food. They have a decent selection of meals. I've only had the breakfest, can't comment on other meals. Small mom &pop style diner with a tight, but comfortable seating area. They don't take credit cards but there is a ATM in the entrance ($1.75 surcharge).

This is one of my favorite places in the area. I've been to 230 at least a dozen times in the last 5 years. Staff is super friendly and the food is always good. They only accept cash to keep their prices down which is okay by this Yelper. Deserts are made fresh everyday and the raspberry pie available in the summer time is not only made fresh, but the bakers pick their own berries. I'll continue to be a repeat customer.

I like this place! it's always a bit busy/full on a saturday morning waiting ever so slightly for a space to open up. they have basic breakfasts with a special on the board. they are well priced, nice and clean. you couldnt ask for anything more! they are cozier and more... 'homey' than a diner. a warm atmosphere. i was impressed and excited when i saw their creme brule french toast as a special!! i couldnt decide between that and the apple stuffed french toast. i order the fr toast in addt to my regular breakfast and i was glad because the creme brule version only came with one thick slice. it was divine!! custardy and covered in syrup!! the special was only $3.50 so i thought it was a fair price, but definitely not all that i wanted my breakfast to consist of! I have yet to try there dinner specials, but i'm sure they're amazing too! this is a great little local spot to check out!! :o)

We were meeting a friend half way and needed a place to meet for breakfast. We found the 230 Cafe. It was close to the Harrisburg Airport and about half way for our friend. The people were very nice and the food was fantastic. The best part was when the waitress brought out our daughters pancakes that were made in the shape of Mickey Mouse. That tittle extra attention to detail was very much appreciated. We had a great breakfast and we may have a new halfway stop off on our way to State College in the future. To the staff of the 230 Cafe I just want to say thanks for the hospitality!

My husband and I went in for supper last night. We've been for breakfast before and LOVED it!! Our waitress was perfect last night, as was the food. However, there was a small table in the back near where we sat that had a group of 3 "regulars". They made us VERY uncomfortable by staring at us throughout our entire meal. Right before we left, the waitress asked if we would like dessert. We declined because we were too full from the delicious food we just ate. The lady at the "regulars" table made a comment about my t-shirt regarding us declining dessert. I heard one of the waitresses call her Vicky. She is VERY BAD for your business!! I would hesitate to return in large part to her and her friends making us feel so unwelcome.

Hometown favorite with flair from the 1960's The location is right on the Main Street or Route 230. Highspire's only living legend of having spawned some 50 years of serving hometown food. The loyalty of the customers shines as you walk into the dining area, I have been told anytime you walk in the door seating is always limited. You have to check out the Pipeliner for breakfast if your mighty hungry, try the small order if your appetite is a bit less. Oh and those scrumptious desserts, made right in the kitchen by staff that take that extra dash of pizzazz to touch your taste buds. If you walk away hungry it is your own fault all of the servings are more then enough for a hungry man or woman. Parking is around the side on Ann Street and behind the restaurant with ample spaces including employees. Seating in the dining area is facing route 230 so lots of action can be observed during business hours from about 6 am to 7 pm, 7 days a week! Ask anyone in the restaurant about the history of the place as it seems the previous 2nd owner, a wife and husband were not making much money when the husband went to work for the Alaska Pipeline. After 4 years of working on the pipeline a few recipes and names of the operations have made their way to Highspire's 230 CAFÉ menu.

They used to serve breakfast all day right? I have been here and used to really like the cheap bites. Well we went there for lunch today and I had the cod and fry basket... the fish even had foreign bits stuck in the batter from whatever old piece of this or that was stuck in the grease. Dirty grease fries as well. Sadly no one in my family (grand parents love diners) enjoyed any of their food. Even the specials (tried the italian wedding soup) were just tasteless. Our waitress seemed as though she didn't want to be there more than we found ourselves wanting to leave. Over all just pretty disappointing because the Brownstone not too far away runs circles around this place. Are there different owners to the ones that hosted the "pipeliner"?

We came for dinner this time and were equally impressed. They have ridicuously cheap dinners. The grilled chicken sandwhich with chips is $4.95 and a decent size with good flavor. The liver is only $6.95 and a good size as well, and good but not as good as Brownstone Cafe's. We had those 2 entrees plus a kids meal for under $20. Not bad! They are also displaying a Wednesday special for filet mignon at $12.95. Cheapest I've ever seen.

We unintentionally stopped in here this weekend because we were actually attempting to try a different restaurant (which has apparently closed). It was around 2:00 when we arrived. The place was crowded and there were only three open tables. We picked one and the server appeared in just a short while to hand us our menus (she asked if we wanted breakfast or lunch). We looked at both menus. We all opted for lunch even through the breakfast menu and breakfast specials looked amazing (cinnamon bread french toast, etc.) I ordered a buffalo chicken salad which arrived with fresh greens, tomatoes, and large pieces of sliced chicken breast covered with a spicy (but not hot) sauce. I had celery and blue cheese on the side. Hubby opted for the bullafo chicken wrap. Both kids ordered the kid's hot dog meal with included a large, sliced open and grilled dog on a nice bun with chips on the side and they opted for the creamy cucumber salad which was a little sweet and included onions. My only complaint about all of the food that we ordered was that the cucumbers in their salads were a little on the rubbery side (but that often happens with that type of salad). The portions were very good sized. The prices were decent. The food was good quality. Nothing sexy, but very good. Here's why I give them 5 stars. In general, they'd earn about a 4. But they get a special bonus point because we arrived at 2:00. We didn't know they closed at 2:00. They graciously sat us, served, us and waited patiently until we were ready to leave. Only one other table was there at the time we left. They could have rudely mentioned that they were closing in a few seconds. However, they were so nice and polite. Even asking if we cared for dessert (when they knew that would prolong our visit). We didn't know that they had closed right about the time we had arrived. We OPEN sign was on and we didn't see anything else. So, three cheers for a place that actually has polite and professional personnel. I will definitely return to this restaurant. Everything about it was good and the service was top notch. It's a small diner atmosphere. I can't wait to come here for breakfast.
