Surprisingly Delicious in Hershey: I had dinner there tonight on an Open Table reservation. I was seated almost immediately in a cute little alcove with a table for two - lovely and quiet and away from all the noise of the bar and the diners with small children. I had the grilled salmon with spinach risotto and it was delicious. The salmon was perfectly cooked, the risotto was perfectly cooked and the sundried tomato butter on top of it was melting as the dish was served. The wine list includes some house wines as well as some "premium" wines by the glass. My server was attentive but not intrusive and made no mistakes with my special requests. The price was reasonable and there was very little delay between the time I was seated and the arrival of my salad after I gave my order. All good! I will definitely return to Piazza Sorrento the next time I go to Hershey.

I loved this restaurant before I went gluten free (the grilled gnocchi should be tried if you haven't already!) but since going gluten free it is still one of my favorites. The selection is amazing and everything is delicious. They are very sensitive to food allergies and label all the dishes. The old world pizza, eggplant involtini and crab dip should be on your list to try!

This restaurant is beautifully decorated and would be a fun place to take a date for a romantic dinner. The service was friendly, and the food was delicious. I had the chicken marsala with risotto. The risotto was sooo creamy and the chicken was tender and served with a delicious marsala and mushroom sauce. The only thing I didn't love was the creme brulee, which wasn't sweet enough for my taste, but overall I had a great experience and will definitely be back the next time I'm in town!

First time ever in this joint. Place seems very cossy. Sitting at the bar. Waitress is on top of everything. Very polite, asking if I needed anything. Calamari was lightly breaded, very nice. Sauce was slightly spicy which is ok by me. Meatball appetizer is delicious. Garlic bread is a perfect compliment. Meat sauce is hearty small bits of tomato. Again, my waitress is very, very polite, catering to my every need. One of the best waitresses I've ever encountered. For dinner, I had the woodsman pizza. Good combination of olives, mushrooms, pepperoni and roasted peppers. In short, the pizza was a lock, loved it. Laura was my waitress. Highly recommended.

Recently went, and my wife had the GF lasagna and said the sauce was very acidic, but this is the first thing she hasn't liked...maybe just a bad night. The GF tiramasu and creme brulee were outstanding, and our server, who we've had numerous times, was great as always.

If you think your pasta should be so mushy you eat it with a spoon like pudding this is the place for you. You almost don't notice the bathroom door is broken and doesn't lock because you are numb from the lack of heat in it. Overall Subway next door is a better choice.

My wife and me were here on my wife's bday and we just saw the reviews and thot of trying.. My wife ordered the grilled gnocchi and she fell in love with it.. That was the first time we ate a gnocchi and we ate gnocchi in other places after that and nothing matched this.. The service was brilliant and the waiting time was minimum. Will definitely revisit if we come to Harrisburg again!

Food is excellent, service is excellent!! My only complaint is that they don't deliver to Hershey medical center, which is right across the street. They would definitely get some business.

Wonderful place - great food and has a gluten free menu! Service was spot on and everyone very friendly. This restaurant is across from the Hershey Hospital and is in a strip mall. At first glance, you think it is a carry-out pizza place. You would be so wrong - do yourself a favor and go!

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the restaurant. We had 8 o'clock reservations and arrived 10 minutes early and were seated right at 8. The wait staff was friendly and attentive throughout the night. We ordered two appetizers (Mushroom & Spinach Arancini and Garlic Shrimp) and both were very good and priced right for the amount of food. For dinner the girlfriend ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese and I ordered the Lobster Ravioli. Both were very excellent and the homemade pasta was a plus. We each had wine with dinner and their selection is very nice and broad for those who wish to have wine with dinner. The atmosphere was nice, perfect for both a family or a couple on a date night. We will definitely be returning, and inviting friends to join us.

Good Italian. Not fabulous, but meets expectations. I wouldn't really recommend for take out. Pizza or subs are the way to go here.

"Great little Italian restaurant in Hershey. All I have tried here is good. Service has been excellent and friendly. You can't go wrong here... a little piece of Italy in The Hershey!"

I really liked it. Had the butternut squash special that had figs and walnuts in the sauce...so good. Entrees came with salad and bread. The wine list was also pretty good with a descent selection. Was stuffed when I left. Great Italian food.

I "yelp'd" gluten free while vacationing in Hershey. Sorrento popped up so we decided to try it. I was blown away by how extensive their gf menu was. They even had gf tiramisu! Thx Sorrento for filling my now very happy belly :).

I love this place. Good food, good happy hour, good service, and they recently openned an outdoor patio! One side of the place is Mr. Sorrento's, which is a pizza and sub place. The other side is Piazza Sorrento's, a nice sit-down Italian restaurant. My friends and I go often for the happy hr specials - $2 pints, $3 22oz drafts - and good beers like Sam Adams and Troegs, not this bud lite happy hour stuff. Some of my friends tried some of the fancier cocktails and weren't overly impressed. The grilled gnocchi is fantastic, and the parmesean peppercorn dressing is delish. Two thumbs up!

After going here once for lunch and once for dinner, I am pretty sure that it is a new favorite in my book. The staff was very courteous, the service was fast, and the food was outstanding (LOVE their pizza!!!) Plus, the prices are reasonable for the tasty Italian dishes that they serve up- a fancier restaurant feel in a very casual, relaxed environment. A great place to meet up with friends or a business partner, in a convenient location right along route 322.

As someone with celiac disease and a recent transplant from the west coast, I am SO thankful to have found Piazza Sorrento. Not only can I eat safely (they are GIG approved), their food is AMAZING. That is all there is to it. Amazing.

Spent three days in Hershey over Easter weekend. This was the best restaurant we visited by far. The food was delicious and the service was AWESOME! Our server, Laura, was so great with our 4 and 1 year old daughters. Everything was prompt and we felt very taken care off. The grilled gnocchi was delicious. We went to other restaurants in the area that were highly over-rated and expensive. The price was right here and we would recommend it to anyone staying at the Hershey Lodge (it's right behind it) over any of the overcrowded, overpriced restaurants there whose food was questionable at best. And the same goes for several other restaurants in town. We thank Piazza Sorrento for making the last night of our vacation memorable and tasty!

Very good Italian restaurant. well worth the drive from Lancaster. Owner asked if everything was OK, so I told him the pecorino cheese in the pear salad had no taste, and the sliced pears were green. Veal saltimboca was wonderful. Tender, with plenty of tasty prosciutto. Wide selection of wines, moderately priced. Knowledgeable, and helpful service. We'll return.

Tried the restaurant for the first time last night. All I could taste in the alfredo sauce was garlic and my husband's gnocchi was very overcooked. All in all, it's yet another highly overpriced place in Hershey for mediocre to less than mediocre food.

I was looking forward to eating some great Italian foods and with many good reviews, we gave this place a try. The restaurant was half empty, but we were told there was a 15 mins. wait. Our waitress was nice and friendly. Onto the food, the calamari were tiny rings with barely any coating on it for crunch, it was tender and the sauce was very thick, like tomato paste, tasted below average. The margherita pizza had a nice thin crust, but the toppings had no taste. The seafood soup was deep in flavor with lots of meaty clams. Dinner rolls were crusty and chewy inside, which we enjoyed. Lobster ravioli were supper salty which over powered the lobster. Papperdelle was cook al dente (liked), but the sauce was very thick and tart (not good). We decided to cut our losses and skip deserts. The decor could use an update and the tables are just to close to each other, there was barely any space for the wait staff to move. The bathroom really needs work, the faucet is old the sink drain was all rusty. It was really hot and there was a portable fan inside the bathroom.

I was not impressed at all. The hostess didn't have basic social skills. Like hi how many in your party. She just stood there looking at us. That however was much better than the server we had. She was loud obnoxious and she also had low social skills. She walked up to our table and loudly asked if we wanted something to wet our whistle. That doesn't sound upscale to me. I felt like I was in a truck stop! The food was very good. Though the service is so bad I will probably not return or recommend this place to anyone. Sorry Pete

The food was not as good as I had anticipated from the yelp ratings of the restaurant and friends who have recommended the restaurant. The rolls were the best part of the meal. Regardless of the average food, the main problem was that the customer service was absolutely terrible. There were no accommodations made for our party when requested and zero empathy from the staff. Having worked in a restaurant before, I completely understand how tough of a job customer service is, but there was no excuse for the treatment we received from the manager. I would not recommend Piazza Sorrento if looking for Italian food while in Hershey.

Picked this based on yelp reviews and was not disappointed. Not much on atmosphere, but food is great. Also liked that you get a choice of small or large portions- we were visiting and didn't want to have leftovers.

Horrible. Offensive. Went to this excuse for a restaurant today, 11-21-14, at 8pm. Arrived at the door and was greeted by the hostess. We told her we were 3 for the restaurant. She said, "just a minute." Then she went into the dining room. She returned a few minutes later. She then stared at the computer screen. Then she left and came back with the manager. The two of them stared at the computer together. Then the hostess went back to the dining room. When she returned the manager and hostess mumbles to each other about closed section and mentioned a server by name. Sorry can't remember the name. At this point we had been waiting about 5 minutes and are expecting the hostess to take us to our table. Then the manager looks up and abruptly says, "twenty minutes." No explanation. No apology. There were tables available. This is ridiculous. They acted as if they were about to seat us. There were open tables. Then to expect us to wait 20 minutes. What awful customer service. I will never spend a dime in the restaurant again. Btw this was my second time there. The first time we had takeout and my toasted meatball sandwich had cold meatballs. The bread was warm but the meatballs were cold. Never again.

I'm in the process of moving to the area and looked for a quick place to eat with my mom. The outside looked appealing so we stopped in. Walking inside the atmosphere and decor is gorgeous and well done as well as inviting. We were greeted by a nice host and there is a "pizza" side and a "restaurant" side. For time purposes we chose the quick pizza side. The service was prompt and the pizza was amazing! I am definitely going back to try the restaurant side!

Very friendly. Nice to have a special gluten free menu. Had their white (sauce) with mushroom, green pepper onion with added garlic and prosciutto and it was awesome. My daughter raved about her spaghetti and meatballs and my friend loved their shrimp lobster ravioli. Prego! Close to Hershey Park.

My family and I visited this place for dinner when visiting Hershey Park. We had arrived a day early to do some shopping at the local Tangers Outlet and then decided to do Italian for dinner. Very good food and service. Here is what we ordered and my take: I had Tour of Italy: Very good. Better than Ive had before. Cheese and sauce and pasta were all very delicious and the portions were very generous My wife had the lobster ravioli: I had some and it was above average but I guess not enough lobster lol My mom had the clams with white wine sauce. Was about average. The kids had plain old mac and cheese with fries and spaghetti and meatball. Were good as they finished all! We also had 2 appz: a shrimp thing I forgot and a mussels with red sauce. Both were good but the mussels honestly were not as good as Bonefish Grille's Josephine style. Hey the taste is in the mouth of the beholder no? Our server was Robyn and she was very good. Recited the day's specials and soups etc. We enjoyed our dinner so much that we did take out for dinner two days later when were at Hershey Park. Piazza Sorrento had a full dinner menu with the works and a take out menu with mainly pizzas and subs. We did subs and they were very good. My brother in law and sister in law went to pick up the food and we ate just outside HP on a nice bench enjoying our food and the scenery. Will definitely be back again when we visit HP.

This place has superb authentic Italian flavors, great service and a welcoming atmosphere. Beer is reasonably priced too. A gluten intolerant friend of ours introduced us to this place and they do a great job catering for this dietary requirement.

delicious high end pizza shop. Dine in only allows personal size pizzas 10" but they are hearty pizzas for the size. somewhat expensive, specialty 10" pizzas around $12

I love italian food and this is my favorite place for italian food in the Harrisburg/Hershey area. The house wines for $6.50 a glass are very drinkable- the Pinot Noir is better than most I've had at much higher price points. The food is great with homemade soups, pastas and risotto, and the service is always attentive.

I can only say WOW. This is a great find in Hershey. Food is to die for if you love REAL food. Pasta and pizza fresh made. Desserts that just make you want more and more. Will be back again on our next visit.

Excellent food! Fresh pasta! Even better service! We found this place after the RV show in Hershey. (Thanks Yelp!) they quickly seated our party of 10 and the service was prompt all night. We would all go back again without hesitation!

I was excited to try this place because I heard good things and its hard to find authentic Italian. I was a little disappointed. First of all they sat us in the Florida room which felt more like Alaska than Florida. It was COLLLD. The server was very good about adjusting it because he said we weren't the only ones freezing. But then others would adjust it again and we were on and off freezing for the entire meal. We started with drinks and appetizers. We tried the meatballs and the Prosciutto Mozzarella Crostini. They were both really good. The meatballs were smaller than I pictured and it came with 3 and some extra sauce and garlic bread. The crostini was delish but it was heavy on the sage butter and one crostini in and I was finished because of the oversaturation. The fresh bread was great! Came out warm and with butter or oil to dip. For our entrees my husband got the penne with sausage and peppers and onions. He said it was just okay. Nothing to write home about either way. I ordered the pappardelle with bolognase sauce. It was SUPER salty. The noodles were homemade but I couldn't stomach the amount of salt in the dish. The other members of my table agreed. Here's where things took another star down. I was so excited that a lot of their entrees came in half size portions. Since we had all of the appetizers this was a great option. I ordered from here and this is exactly how it was pictured in the menu. Choice of pappardelle, spaghetti, fettuccini, penne, rigatoni, or thin linguini with Marinara sauce. Substitute Bolognese for 1.50 Small 10.5 / Full 13.5 So I got the SMALL pappardelle with bolognese. Should have been $12 My bill came out and they charged me 17. I mentioned it to the waiter and he said it doesn't come in a small size. He adjusted the bill and made it out like they were doing me a favor. I wanted to show him that I wasn't off my rocker. and I showed him the menu. I don't think he got it. Turns out there's an entree Pappardelle Bolognese (House Specialty) Pappardelle pasta and our own homemade meat sauce, Bolognese style 17 And he just thought that's what I wanted. I even asked him when I was ordering the differences in size and I told him I wanted a small and he didn't say anything then... shady. Anyway he did adjust my bill. I went home rather thirsty from salt and a little sour that I was made to feel like my bill adjustment was my fault so I don't think I'll be rushing back. Oh the dishes come with soup or salad which is a plus :-)

3.5 Stars Food was really good but overpriced IMO. $54 tab for 2 people with one glass wine and one beer. Ordered a second but never got delivered. $18 for 2 small pieces sausage over pasta and $20 for chicken Marsala prolly 4 oz. over a huge bed of rice. Very noisy as they have too many tables crammed into the area.

We recently moved to Hershey and gave this place a try. Only have ever gotten their pizza but it's the best around. A little pricey though. The atmosphere is nice and not what you'd expect from a "pizza joint". Great bar too! I would highly recommend to anyone that loves Italian food.

My fiance and I were staying near by in the town of Palmyra at a B&B named 1825 Inn, Valentine weekend. I found this restaurant using Yelp!! which by the way has never steered me wrong... LOVE IT!!! the staff were very friendly and helpful. Have to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to Milton our server!!! he was awesome. Their personal pizza, homemade pasta and Italian classic club was made to perfection.

I really would love to give this visit higher stars but sadly I can't. We have previously eaten lunch there and thought the food was excellent and were excited to try again for dinner. We were fortunate to get a last minute reservation through open-table for 8 pm on Saturday night. Glad we had the reservation as the place was packed with few groups waiting. We were seated right away...and the promptness ends there. Our waitress must have been new...I can only hope she was new and will improve as I don't think I have experienced such poor service before. Slow in getting drink orders (family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 kids 10 and 13) we had beer/soft drinks on order and that took 15 minutes to arrive. Sensing it was going to be slower than usual we adjusted our orders to eliminate the appetizers and go straight for the entree. But unfortunately she didn't want to take our order after dropping off the drinks - we had to wait another 10 minutes. It was 8:30 by the time she took our orders! The food was average to poor. I ordered a salad and papperdelle with bolognese. Normally excellent and would have been but for it arriving at the table tepid. The shrimp risotto featured undercooked rice, onions and shrimp and was not in the least bit creamy. The crab cakes were excellent, but sadly served tepid again. The last meal was the chicken strips for the kids meal which were served piping hot. The owner came by to check on us and we expressed our disappointment over the risotto and the temperature of the other dishes (not the strips though!) She offered to remake the risotto but by that point it was a little after 9 and we were done. When the waitress came back several minutes later to check on us, she offered dessert on the house to make up for the meals (nice offer) and we took her up on it. After another 20 minutes for the desserts, a flustered looking waitress appeared at the table to tell us they are all out of vanilla ice cream for the chocolate lava cake, but if we really wanted it she could run next door to get some. Before we could decline, my son said yes and off she sprinted. Literally. So I took advantage of this break to stretch my legs. I kind of wish I hadn't. The restroom clearly showed that this restaurant had been slammed. Overflowing trash bins in the stall and overflowing trash bins by the sinks. But what bothered me was the employee who was taking a break just tossed her used paper towel into the overflowing bin instead of tidying up. Back to the table to catch our out of breath waitress delivering our desserts. They looked great, especially as she used the dessert plates to shove the dinner plates out of the way to make room for the desserts. Yep..all the plates were on the table..bread plates, salad plates, soup bowl and 4 large entree dishes and now 4 desserts. The lovely aroma of garlic mingled so nicely with my creme brulee. And again the owner stopped by to check on us. I felt compelled to let her know that the waitress ran next door to get the ice cream...not one of the 2 hostesses standing by, nor any of the busboys (who didn't actually bus) but our waitress. She laughed and said she would speak to her. I also commented on all the dishes left at the table and again received a warm smile and promise to talk to the waitress. However, she did not pick up a single dish. So my final review on this is the food can be excellent and the desserts are amazing, the service is a critical component of the whole meal and in this case was terrible.

We've been here quite a few times for drinks and dinner. The appetizers we've tried have been very good and the pasta as well. I like that they have the option of ordering the half portion of pasta, since most pasta entrees everywhere are pretty huge. The old world pizza is really good too and we've had it quite a few times. Bartenders are always very nice and chatty which we like. Overall, nice place to go for dinner and drinks.

I've been here a few times over the past 3 1/2 years and I've always had a great meal. Most recently, I got a large Old Fashioned pie that had 4 cheeses and a really great pizza sauce. It was fantastic and I'm definitely going to get another pie before I move out of the area in June, it's that good. I remember the dinners being very good as well and it's super conveniently located right across the street for the Hershey Med Center. Definitely a great place!

This would be that typical take your partner for a nice dinner Resturant. I wasn't expecting it to be very formal and classy and kind if wished I looked it up ahead of time. The food is on the pricey side but is good. Our waiter was very friendly and served to our needs. This place is known for their pizza's, even though I had pasta. I would recommend this place if you got money and want to have a nice formal dinner with your lady.

My wife and I came here for a nice dinner while staying at a nearby hotel. The food was very good. My wife had the Grilled Gnocchi and I had the Italian Sampler. Both dishes were excellent; I especially liked their red sauce. It was one of the best sauces I've had at a restaurant. The only negative I found was we felt rushed. Our server was nice and efficient, though almost too efficient. Our food came out before my wife finished her salad, which I didn't appreciate. We were trying to enjoy a glass of wine and a relaxed dinner, while they were thinking "next"! The restaurant was nice as long as you sit on the right side of restaurant as the left side serves pizza. There's a small but nice bar in the center hall, that looked like a nice place to sit during the week with a glass of wine and share a pizza. The rush aside, I'd recommend this place for some good Italian food if you're in the area. I can't imagine there are that many to choose from.

We have tried this restaurant three times and we are finished and will never go again. They have a gluten free menu which includes pizza. It was terrible and it wan't even the crust! Hardly any sauce and the worst tasting cheese and toppings. Vegetarian that included a few mushrooms and some onions? This is Vegetarian pizza? Oh, we paid extra for the veggie pizza. :( I have also tried their regular menu and both are so incredibly over priced... it is a sin. How do you charge 17.00 for pasta with red sauce and a tiny salad? This isn't an upscale place mind you... it's a neighborhood restaurant that is terrible. How does one screw up Italian food, really? My husband ordered eggplant parm and it was so tough he couldn't even cut it with a regular knife. We asked for a steak knife and the server said they didn't have any, okay... now what. Honestly, the service is okay, maybe even good, but that just doesn't cut it (excuse pun) when it comes to food and price. I don't have grand illusions but give me a break. Fix the darn men and get better cooks.

I'm a big fan of this place. It's a place with great service and you can always expect something different on the menu. If you see something you don't recognize, try it. I have been happy every time I gave something a try. Authentic italian food

Was staying at the Hershey lodge and this place is basically next door. Great find. I had the chicken parm (which I always get) and my wife had the lobster ravioli. She said it was the best lobster ravioli she ever had. When I come back to Hershey I a definitely coming back to this restaurant as well.

Visited here on a Saturday night with my husband and some friends at our friends' suggestion. My husband had one of the specials that night - two crab cakes. He verified that it was real crab when he found a shell, but overall, he said they were good. I had their small plate of spaghetti and meatballs and enjoyed it. You could definitely tell that the pasta was homemade! Our friends both had the three cheese ravioli; they said it is one of their favorite dishes there. They had their 18-month old with them and our server brought her some crayons to keep her entertained. I don't usually order desert, but when I saw that they had cannoli, I had to order one. It was pretty good; not the best I have ever had, but not the worst either. The food was good, but the restaurant itself was very noisy and dark. We didn't find it romantic, just dark. We plan to return and I look forward to trying some of their other pasta dishes.

Making an electronic reservation is extremely easy and efficient. It appears to be a very popular restaurant and so reservations are a must. The noise level was more than the four of us enjoyed. The waiter was knowledgeable and the salad (balsamic vinegar with blue cheese crumbles) was top shelf. The house wine was quite good and moderately priced. For the main course, each of the four of us ordered a dish that we had eaten in other restaurants. For example, I ordered clams and linguine white. The four of us all agreed that we had had better food preparation in a few other restaurants, but the main course was quite enjoyable for all of us. I did notice that only one of the four completed their entire meal.

My husband and I ate here on Valentines Day weekend, so reservations were a must (thank you Open Table). The server was friendly and knowledgeable, reminding us that all the pastas are made in-house. There is even a gluten-free menu! There was an extensive wine list as well as a full bar. I enjoyed an excellent chicken marsala over risotto with asparagus while my husband liked his Italian sampler of chicken parmesan, lasagna, and fettucini Alfredo. The salads were a bit lame, but the choice of dressings was impressive. The restaurant is small, so seating is tight and the atmosphere is a little loud, but pretty much what you would expect from an Italian restaurant. The location was most surprising - in a little strip mall, sharing a parking lot with a gas station!

After a day of riding roller coasters at Hershey, we had worked up a pretty big appetite, and what better way to fill a hungry tummy than Italian food? This place is set away a bit from the main touristy area of Hershey, and we were seated quickly in their sun room area. Despite it being FREEZING cold in there, it was a nice little room. I ordered the grilled gnocchi and the boyfriend ordered the sampler plate, which consisted of chicken parm, lasagna, and fettuccine alfredo. The grilled gnocchi were really, really good and the texture was perfect, although I could have done with less "other stuff" in the dish. There was way too much sausage for the number of gnocchi on the plate, and I should have ordered it without peas. I hate peas and figured I could just pick around them, but with the amount of sauce and other stuff on this plate, it was near impossible in practice. I was still a huge fan of the gnocchi... just wish they had been more plentiful than the other components of the dish. The boyfriend seemed to like his plate well enough, though he said it was nothing out of the ordinary. Overall, a quick and pleasant meal, though I wouldn't put this at the top of my Italian dining experience list.

They were out of a lot of the dishes that people described liking on here so I was disappointed that I could not try the grilled gnocchi. Other than that it was a positive experience. We definitely had leftovers that tasted even better the next day, unlike what another person described. Enjoyed the food and the wait staff and will return!

Terrible service. Food was even worse. Stay away from the "pizza shop." Order was mangled. No seating.

Looking for a pizza place They have Italian dishes to the right and pizza to the left We ordered a large pizza and they made it the way we have it back home even though it wasn't on the menu Very friendly staff Good place for pizza and the other side was very busy.

Fist time visit and glad we picked it. Aftwr reading online reviews, we narrowed our choices and were very pleased with the final choice. Excellent Italian cuisine...freshly made to order! The waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. Over all great experience. A family of five all left with full bellies and more than satisfied! We would definitely go back!

Went with a party of six including two small children. All of the restaurants near Hershey park were packed so I used yelp to find this cute restaurant a little ways from Hershey and make a reservation online (other restaurants were full or didn't take reservations). We were seated quickly, wait staff was attentive but not overly so and the selection of food was good enough for everyone to find what they wanted. Pasta is made fresh on the premises and the warm bread was great. Ambience is nice; casual for families but could stretch to a low key date. Will be back next time we are in Hershey SMS don't want to deal with all the crowds

Staying in the area and searched Yelp for highest rated Italian food. Have to say that I was quite impressed with my order. I did get take-out, and it was ready for pickup within 10-15 minutes. The eggplant appetizer, amazing! I wish I would have ordered the large. Their marinara sauce is very fresh, a bit on the sweet side, had I eaten in I would have added a bit of hot pepper. I also ordered the small ravioli which was also very good. I really wanted the gnocchi but they no longer offer it for take out (bummer). I would definitely go back, prices are good, I feel like I got a ton of food for $19.

Came here for lunch with my boyfriend. Never again. Ordered the meatball appetizer and they came out cold. The Fettuchini Alfredo with chicken includes chicken the same grade and taste of that found at subway restaurants, my ravioli tastes like it has cream cheese inside...our waiter just brought a bread basket to the table...at the end of the meal? Don't eat here.

First time at Piazza Sorrento. Found it via opentable when I was looking for a place to seat a large party on a Saturday evening. Parking is excellent, food was great, service was great. Pizza, Veal Parm, etc...everything was great and we'd definitely go back again next time we're in the area. The rest room though was a disappointment but hey the food was good!

Highly recommend for families visiting Hershey. We easily got a reservation for 7 people. Delicious bruschetta. Calamari app could have been more well done. Loved my Shrimp and Artichoke dinner. My husband was a little disappointed with his Shrimp Risotto but everyone else in the group was very happy with their choices. The little homemade ravioli for kids were amazing.

Stopped by here after a day at the Lancaster outlets. Saw it and decided to stop. They were busy at 7:30 pm, so we sat at the bar and got service immediately. Scott, our bartender, has great customer service. He allowed us to sample 2 wines before choosing 1 and alerted us to it being cheaper if we got a bottle. We declined, but appreciated the head's up. I loved my appetizer: eggplant involintini (small rollitini). My mate enjoyed the bacon, mozzerella crostini. For dinner, he liked his half portion of lasagna and I the buffalo chicken pizza (with extra hot sauce). Another person helping in the bar was happy to find out the brand of hot sauce for us promptly. Great service here!

Hands down, the best italian, EVER. All the pasta is made in the restaurant and the difference is amazing. Unsurprisingly, the place gets full a lot - go early.

You know how you go to a restaurant and GF options are presented as a GF "menu?" This place has a 2-page true GF menu, which includes entrees complete with sauces, a variety of desserts, and even appetizers! The soups were both GF and one was a pasta soup that the non-GF patrons were eating unaware! That should make a statement for the food right there! In addition to the superb food and variety of options, I could eat with peace of mind. When I called, they provided confident and intelligent answers to my food preparation questions. They even volunteered information, such as knowing to boil the GF pastas separately. (Seems like common sense, but if you are GF, you realize people sometimes lose a bit of sense when attempting GF! Not this place!!!) When the GF dishes arrive at the table, there are even paper tags laid on the plate to certify to you once again that the chef understood your need for GF and was cognizant of that fact during preparation. It was so nice not to have those doubts lingering in the back of my mind. Oh! And you know how we normally get to sit and watch the non-GF eat their Italian bread dipped in olive oil and herbs? Not this time! My daughter and I were offered GF rolls too! This was the first time in a very long time that I felt like a normal person eating a meal out!

My wife and I went here last week for dinner. While the ambiance was very nice, the food was slightly less desirable. I ordered a simple chicken dish, which the 20 dollar price tag seemed a bit high for. My wife got the butternut squash ravioli. Her dish was far superior to mine. The ravioli was great and the fig sauce was very tasty. Mine on the other hand was a huge let down! When my meal arrived, I was shocked to see it. I thought perhaps the waitress brought out the wrong dish. It was a TINY chicken breast SLICE, a pile of sticky over-cooked pasta, and a few slivers of mushroom. On top of that, there was a thin slice of dried out prosciutto. The dish tasted OK, nothing more. 20 bucks is an outrageous price for what I got though. Italian food is some of the cheapest to produce. If I don't leave an Italian restaurant with leftovers, I don't go back. Especially when it's twenty dollar plates! Our bill topped 50 dollars and all we had were entrees, no appetizers. She had a beer and I got a water. I don't mind paying higher prices if the quality and portion size warrant it. This simply didn't. I left the restaurant with my stomach and wallet empty. I would not recommend this place to anyone who's hungry.

This was an awesome family owned Italian restaurant. ALL the food is made fresh daily including the pasta. The wine was excellent and the glass was generously filled. A wide variety of deserts, all made fresh by the owner. Both the husband and the wife came around to each table separately making sure you are enjoying the food and just small talk. Our server Ryan was always making sure we had what we needed. He even gave us updates on how long until our meals were ready, not that we waited that long. I highly recommend making reservations! They use Open Table online. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Went with a party of 8. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. I had the grilled gnocci and my wife had the shrimp and scallop scampi -- both were great. This is a local place, where the owner comes by at the end of the meal to make sure everything was okay. They clearly take a lot of pride in their operation, and it shows. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Hershey

YUM YUM YUM. everything was delish...bacon wrapped scallops appetizer yum! Get some extra bread for the sauce...entrees all great. Lobster ravioli, penne vodka and grilled gnocchi all very tasty. Even the seafood chowder soup was good. Highly recommended. Eat well...live well...

  • Pat B.

Sorry Pete

Spectacular! My partner and stepson are both Italian so any Italian restaurant we've gone to has been reviewed play at best. But this place got their 5-star approval! All pastas are made fresh, the wine selection is excellent, and the service was better than I've experienced in years! Rolls are complimentary and freshly baked. Prices are good considering the portions and the quality. And they are very kid friendly. We ordered the grilled gnocchi, Nanno Vincenzo sausage and peppers with penne, and the pappardelle bolognese. We also had the caprese salads. We shared with each other and and couldn't decide on a favorite. A must try! If we lived close we would be regulars!

When I lived in the Harrisburg area, Piazza Sorrento became my favorite Italian restaurant in the area. Having grown up in Chicago, and being Italian, I was quite spoiled when it came to Italian food. Then I moved to Harrisburg. And finding good Italian restaurants in the area was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Then a new friend told me about Piazza Sorrento. I went there for dinner that night. And came back every weekend from that point until I moved back to Chicago almost three years later. Recently, I returned to Hershey to visit and dropped in on my old stomping ground. As usual, those friendly faces greeted me and provided great service. And on July 18, 2015, I tried an entree I never had before: Nonno Vincenzo's Sausage and Peppers, which was two juicy Italian sausage links (choice of sweet or hot) with bell peppers and onions in marinara over penne pasta. I chose the sweet sausage. It was excellent, and I couldn't finish it. During my time in Harrisburg over the years, I found I had a list of favorites at Piazza Sorrento: Grilled Gnocchi (my ultimate favorite), Veal Parmesan, Tuscan Sausage Cannelloni (discontinued in 2013, boo!), and the Butternut Squash Ravioli with Frangelico Sauce (seasonal). All were delicious at worst and sinful at best. The complimentary dinner rolls given with each meal are always warm and tasty and should be dipped in olive oil for best taste. For those of you who like wine with your meal, the menu lists possible pairings for each entree. If you follow that, you can't go wrong. And the service! I cannot stress enough how good it is. I have gotten to know the owners, Pete and Anna Maria, and they warm, outgoing restaurateurs who get out on the restaurant floor to greet patrons and make them feel welcome and their patronage appreciated. The staff - from the hostesses, the waitstaff, the bartenders, and the staff on the pizza/sandwich shop side of the restaurant - are also always smiling and welcoming. And if you have room for dessert, Anna Maria bakes a lot of those decadent pleasures in her own kitchen, and I'm hooked on both her Red Velvet Cake and Triple Chocolate Cake with Peanut Butter Icing. If they were any better, they would be illegal! It's for all these reasons that Piazza Sorrento is my favorite restaurant in the Harrisburg/Hershey area.

Two restaurants in one place. Different menus, and somewhat limited menu for both. We decided on the pasta restaurant, but they luckily offer pizza as one of the few common menu items. The kids ordered pasta and the meatball was good. It came before the rest of the meal, so I thought it might be a good sign for our meals. Not so. I ordered the bolognese. They pride themselves on the pasta made on-site - they tell you that as you are seated. The noodles were about four times as wide as linguini or fettuccini. They plopped it in the middle of the bowl and didn't really mix it with the sauce, so in the middle, you get a wound up ball of dough and no sauce. When you mix your sauce and noodles if you have been calculating and rationing your sauce properly, you'll soon find that the noodles stick together, and then it turns into a wide stack of noodle dough to chew on. Not appetizing, although the sauce was ok (not great). My wife had the margarita pizza. I felt sorry for her. Dough slightly undercooked. Cheese not melted that great, tomatoes weren't cooked all the way through, and the largest basil leaves I've ever seen on a pizza. Even through all that, she said it had no flavor. She left most of it uneaten. If you decide to go, a round of kids' spaghetti and meatballs might be your best bet.

This wasn't as great as I had expected. We had a reservation, were seated properly, service was very nice and efficient. What I really am obsessed with are the yeast rolls. Oh My. So so so good. I went after the waitress (once she had cleaned up the table) to retrieve the 2 rolls left and grabbed the butter and they made a fantastic breakfast nr 1 the next day. Unbelievable. 10 stars. Pasta was good, my hubs liked the pork chops (which were called pork ribs for some reason), me not so much. Homemade ravioli was really nice and kids loved pasta as well. Apparently all the desserts are homemade, didnt get to these. I almost want to give them 4 stars but both hubs and I were very disappointed with the wine pairings, seemed kind of tasteless and watery. But you know I will go back to get some more rolls.

The reviews seem all over the place on Piazza Sorrento. It is a nice Italian restaurant. We are visiting for Hershey Factory and found Piazza Sorrento. It is a nicely appointed restaurant. Not cold or sterile as other reviewers have mentioned. The wait staff was prompt and courteous. The complimentary bread and butter was good. The main dishes come with either soup or salad. I had the tagliatelle with meat sauce. Was it the best meat sauce I ever had? No but certainly passable. My wife ordered Alfredo sauce pasta with vegetables and it was fine. It's not New York or Philly Italian but certainly a pleasnt dining experience. We were seated in an open dining room. I saw the green curtain area on the other side of the restaurant.mseems like they seat you on the open side unless you have a large party or if there is overflow.

Highly recommend making a reservation for the fine dining side. We ate on the pizza side since we didn't make reservations and it was an hour wait. Awesome pizza!! We had the white pizza, 12 inch and it fed 4 comfortably! The small calzones were huge and the smell was incredible!!! Will be going back!!!

Went there for lunch today. I'm not a local, but I feel bad for all the local people that are praising this place. First, the hostess and the waitress both sold the "everything is homemade" angle. That's wonderful and they even have GF options as well, however, homemade does not equal tasty or satisfying. I ordered Chicken Fettucini Alfredo and my co-worker ordered Chicken Parmesean. Both were not good. I mean not good as in so unappealing that we lied to the waitress about being full so we didn't have to have a conversation about how bad it was. Bottom line, I'd rather eat at Olive Garden than here and I'm not a fan of chains and super chains. To the people that praise this place: venture out and try some other places, your taste buds will thank you.

My family and I came on a Friday evening around 8. Super crowded , and as we just wanted a few quick slices before 'previewing' Hershey we headed back towards the pickup counter. Ordered our slices. And waited. And waited. 20 min later- I inquired and I think somehow completely forgot ( 2 people working at the counter and 3 others served after us). They were apologetic- but then the pizza was mediocre too. Hopefully ,a fluke but I wouldn't try again.

Piazza Sorrento is absolutely my favorite, favorite restaurant in Hershey!! Even now I'm down to the South, every time I go back to Pennsylvania I will go for Piazza and order their Lobster Ravioli. This place is owned by a couple from Italy, and their recipes are truly unique and authentic. It's good for lunch because of lower price, fewer customers, and smaller portion. Service used to be really good, but lately I felt the service had become slower. Definitely go for Lobster Ravioli, my favorite dish with shrimp and creamy sauce. Also, don't forget to ask their freshly baked bread with olive oil!! Their daily soup is pretty good, if they have clam/seafood soup on the day, pleeeeeeease ask for that! Their desserts are just amazing. Even you are super full, you just can't run away from them. Piazza Sorrento has become one of the reasons that I just can't leave Hershey, Pennsylvania. It's such an appealing place where you put all your emotions, enjoying their gourmet treatments and the joy you could ever experience.

Was just in the other day for a Valentine's Day weekend dinner and chose Piazza Sorrento based on the rave reviews from both Yelp & Trip Advisor. I also love the story of the family and how they transplanted here from Sicily; Sicilians make great food :) Anyway, the food was good: fried ravioli appetizer is excellent, and I love how most meals are listed with a suggested wine pairing. I ordered the original pizza and it was very good. Hailing from NY, I know excellent pizza, and while I wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had, it is definitely worth getting. The bread they give you on the table seems to be made of pizza dough, and is delicious! Of course I over indulged on the bread and didn't have room for dessert, but they looked fantastic. Our server, Austin, was personable & accommodating. He also gave great advice in terms of what to order, etc. *******My only complaint was the atmosphere. I am not sure how they set up the space: there are curtains dividing portions of the room, and it is VERY noisy. Unfortunately, though no fault of the restaurant, we were seated next to two very obnoxiously loud tables. It was to the point that we had to literally shout for Austin to hear us order our meals. I know that the dinner would have been much more enjoyable had the patrons in the room been as respectful of the surrounding tables as the restaurant would expect.

I ordered ahead for takeout and was excited to try, as I've heard they have fantastic food. I placed an order for an Italian sub with lettuce, tomato, and oil/vinegar to pick up on my way to work tonight, and I'm so disappointed. The picture of their subs on their website looked absolutely amazing. As I've mentioned in previous reviews, I'm from North Jersey, so I'm a little snooty about my subs. The sub was ready when I arrived, the restaurant was packed, and the place seemed clean and buzzing with energy. Stafff were friendly enough. Price was what I'd expect to pay for a sub. Let's get to the sub. I knew as soon as I opened it that I was not going to like it. The meat was sliced thick, which I can't stand. I don't like to feel like I'm chewing on a tongue. The bread was fantastic though. And the girl that took my order either forgot I said no onions or thought I said extra onions because this sub was PACKED WITH ONIONS. Overall, I'd probably go back to try the restaurant, but it's not high on my "to try" list.

Since our son received treatment for leukemia for 6+ years at Hershey Med, Mr. Sorrento's has been a staple in our lives. Spending time in the children's hospital? Order out to Mr. Sorrento's, please. Waking up from a spinal tap? Asking for Mr. Sorrento's. Hungry after a long day at clinic? Only asking for Mr. Sorrento's. It's not just that the boy loves their pizza; it is a really good establishment. Pizza has always been excellent, and the sandwiches can haul the mail also. I really like the fact that there is a fancy side and a "pizza joint" side...with kids, informal will do just fine! Place an order at the window, and sit and wait for them to yell. Works for me, but the other side does fill up. Personal preference. Solid eatery in Hershey. No disappointments here.

You have to stop here! Amazing selection of food from sandwiches to pastas to pizzas. The prices are surprisingly low. Everything is homemade right down to the noodles. I had the house special lasagna and it was the best lasagna I have ever had. Wait staff was very friendly and knew the menu extremely well. The food came out quickly. The restaurant was extremely clean and had a nice atmosphere. Our waitress brought a dessert platter and explained what each item was. Dessert was a bit pricey compared to the food but don't skip it, the cheese cake is amazing. I would love to come back here soon.

I've been here about 4 times. It's a nice looking place inside in terms of it's weird location by the gas station. After the last visit, I'm probably not going to go back. The pizza was OK - not amazing. I can probably make better pizza at home. The reason I'm going to skip it as an option is because I didn't like the way the guy behind the counter was looking at me and my husband when we were placing our order. It was rather odd and I don't seem to recall experiencing this type of behavior anywhere else. In my previous visit, a different guy behind the counter was flirting with the two girls in front of me for an excessively long time before bothering to look at some of the rest of us waiting in line. They should try to be a bit more professional with their customer service if they want more solid business. Also, if there aren't a ton of people in your restaurant, you could at least acknowledge people walking in and say thank you when they leave.

Incredible! We came to Hershey for 2012 Farm Aid, and had dinner here the night before. My husband had the Vincenzo sausage and pepper dish. I had the Tuscan sausage cannelloni. Wow! I actually am not a big fan of sausage, but this stuff was amazing! Great service, phenomenal food! I hope to come up with another reason to come to Hershey just so we can eat here again!!!

As a Celiac, Sorrento's is my favorite date night spot. The classy interior is always nice, service is great and the gluten free menu is HUGE. Seriously, it takes me forever to decide because there's so much to choose from. I love the dessert selection as well. And they have gluten free dinner rolls! If you're gluten free, you absolutely have to try this place. If you're not up for a fancy dining experience, half the building is still the pizza and sub shop Sorrentos started out as. Their gluten free subs are amazing (the bread is always fresh and awesome), and they have carry out gluten free pizza options as well. Basically, you have two restaurants in one! I can't recommend it highly enough.

What a wonderful find. This is the real deal. We were at a conference at Hershey Lodge and decided to venture out. The service was friendly and welcoming.started with a tasty Caesar salad and hot rolls made from their pizza dough. I had the grilled gnocchi and my friend had the fish special. The gnocchi was the best I've ever had - a nice sauce with spinach sausage and peppers-delicious. Will have to come back to try some of the other house specialties...and save room for dessert - you won't be disappointed! The owner came out and chatted with us as well. All around a nice experience and authentic Italian cooking.

Went based in location and reviews Sat right away but was busy and took a While to get service Ordered all at once and the bread was good Ordered kids spaghetti and small ravioli for kids Kids portion spaghetti was good sized but raviolis was small I got the veal on a recommendation For 21$ I expected more The veal was overdone and the pasta tasted like it was recently reheated in hot water And was not fully drained My plate was running with water ;( The food was lacking any flavor And the sauce and past was about as bland as I have had in a long time After that we were told they were sold out of two of the three deserts we wanted My oldest got the chocolate lava and loved it Was high point of the who mean Seems more like a Local hangout then an out of town recommendation

Tasty gluten free pizza! They actually have a full gluten free menu and the staff is knowledgeable about their food! I had the gf meat lovers pizza which was amazing and my family had pasta. Everyone was quite happy with their meals.

This was our 2nd visit to the restaurant. We came last year when we were in the area for a lacrosse tournament. Lacrosse brought us back to the area again today. We are from long island, ny...so we know Italian food. We had the meatballs and precutte (spelling?)and mozzarella appitizers, fettuccine alfredo and spicy crab with linguine for dinner. All of it was excellent! We highly recommended this place.

  • Sierra H.

Wow, what an awesome place to eat. Everything tasted so good and was fresh. Most menu items are made fresh from scratch, if I'm ever in the area again I will make my way back here for sure. Super friendly staff as well!

Pizza us pretty good. The lunch specials have nice selection and pretty cheap. But for dinner, it is a little bit more expensive. I personally think Costco and Sam's pizza are more tasty than Here.

For an authentic Italian meal, Piazza Sorrento is the place! Great food and service. Fairly affordable prices. Nice atmosphere. It's very hard to find a great Italian restaurant in this area, so this place is a gem! Highly recommended!

The food is good and the bartenders and waitstaff are fine. The owner does not talk to customers or thank them for coming in. That bothers me, so we have not been back lately. We were going there often for a while, but decided to start going elsewhere.

Horrible.

Excellent food! Fresh pasta! Even better service! We found this place after the RV show in Hershey. (Thanks Yelp!) they quickly seated our party of 10 and the service was prompt all night. We would all go back again without hesitation!

  • Jacob G.

They were out of a lot of the dishes that people described liking on here so I was disappointed that I could not try the grilled gnocchi. Other than that it was a positive experience. We definitely had leftovers that tasted even better the next day, unlike what another person described. Enjoyed the food and the wait staff and will return!

Fist time visit and glad we picked it. Aftwr reading online reviews, we narrowed our choices and were very pleased with the final choice. Excellent Italian cuisine...freshly made to order!

Authentic - spot on - excellent food and excellent service. Must order the crab dip and the lobster ravioli.

Excellent in all categories - appetizers, pastas, wine, and service. The chicken parmigiana was amazing and of course due to great sauce. The seafood pastas all sounded delicious and mine was exceptional. Wish we lived closer!

The food is good and the bartenders and waitstaff are fine. The owner does not talk to customers or thank them for coming in. That bothers me, so we have not been back lately. We were going there often for a while, but decided to start going elsewhere.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
