Food was plentiful. Didn't know it was a BYOB.

My wife and I heard about this place from some friends that live in Hellertown. We came across a Groupon for dinner and decided to buy it. I had the fried calamari salad, this is good if you like calamari because it was seemingly endless and they even threw in a little salad underneath it all. While I enjoyed the salad I NEED to tell you all about the fresh mozzarella pizza (basically a margharita pizza). Every once and a great while you eat something that you think is just so overwhelmingly delicious that you think you could eat it forever and your definition of delicious is reinvented. This pizza was one of those dishes. I will get it on all subsequent visits. I can't fault the service as the Groupon was about to expire so the resteraunt was full and they had some servers call out so they had only one server. Ouch. The owner was actually our server and he did as good a job as you could hope for while trying to do everything else. So no judgment there. We will be returning, happy to have discovered this spot!

I wish I could give this restaurant a better review but unfortunately their customer service is horrible. The restaurant itself is very cute, wonderful ambiance. The service was slow despite the restaurant only being half full. The bread took a good 20 minutes to come out and was cold. Food was good. Portions were large. I ordered penne with vodka sauce which was surprisingly flavorful despite lacking pancetta or prosciutto. Now the problem with this restaurant was the one employee who was packing up the leftovers. He managed to spill seafood pasta all down my friend's jacket and purse. The waitress wiped down the jacket with a table rag. Unfortunately the jacket still smelled like seafood but no apologies were offered. The night ended in a yelling match between us and the waitress. Who, might I add, at no point called the manager. Needless to say we will not be back.

From the warm greeting to the outdoor seating everything was perfect. Then we ordered the food, received some complimentary garlic bread and took our first bit that absolutely blew us away. Bring your appetite and be prepared to BMW a regular.

My husband and I are huge fans of Bella's which is great because it's only a few blocks from where we live. I love the soup and bruschetta. My husband has had the ziti and chicken parm and both are delicious. The prices and portions are great at lunch time!

We made reservations for a friend's birthday here. We are two married couples, both with 9 year old sons. So... a 6 person reservation. That's a decent booking for any restaurant... We got to the restaurant no more than 10 minutes late (it can happen with small kids) and found that the owner had given away our table! In the rare occasions that I have been a bit late (perhaps as much as 20 minutes) I have never had a reserved table taken away. The old man (owner?) was pretty argumentative about it being our fault for being late, that he couldn't hold on to the table forever. Apparently customer service means nothing to this gentleman. He told us to wait, then insisted we wait "out of the way" in this side area they have with benches. We had to wait for 10 minutes, and even then, the only way that we got a table was they had asked for another family to move to yet another table! Talk about making a customer feel guilty! Ok... now, the food. Once more, another restaurant who uses too much garlic and oil (greasy) on their garlic bread knots (sticks?). They were actually undercooked--raw dough. What happened to putting out a basket of good quality bread and rich butter before dinner? I'd rather had a decent bread than garlic knots that are pre-made and sitting out under hot lights getting greasy. We ordered the gnocchi bolognese which was delicious but I thought the gnocci was not fresh made--a bit heavy. My wife was going to order mussels until we smelled a batch going past us. Not fresh. My son had awful Alfredo (which he and my wife both love) which was broken... the sauce had separated and was grainy and watery. The desserts were not as good as they looked. The chocolate cheesecake was not great. There was a citrus tart that was dry. The service was unremarkable and a bit slow. They missed an appetizer we ordered and later on forgot about additional drink orders. Sorry, but when I can cook better than the restaurant I'm eating at, it's not worth coming back. Update: As you see, I've downgraded the rating to one star. We went back to this restaurant as my wife's insistence... she had a groupon coupon and it was on a night when we were to tired out to cook at home. First off, the awkward reaction as you walk in the front street entrance is sort of surprise by the staff in the bakery--which is where you have to walk through to get to the restaurant. You have to squeeze by the cafe/bakery customers as you try to get to the dining room. (Odd, because there is a street entrance right into the dining room--locked). Next, the old guy (I think the owner) asks if you have a reservation and puts on a puss when you say no. Actually, this time WITHOUT a reservation, we got seated right away in a booth. Go figure. The Bread: we opted for "plain"instead of the greasy garlic stuff. It was underdone--not raw, but presses flat when you try to butter it. They are using a low quality bread dough--like Pillsbury. Not enough protein. The salad had wilted greens--parmesan dressing was tasteless... not enough vinegar. Soup: Pasta fagiole tasted too intense--like tomato juice. Nut much flavor otherwise. The wait: About 18 minutes soup to when the entrees came. After about 15 minutes, when I called the waitress over to ask about the entrees, she said that she was "already yelling at" the kitchen. It would have been better service if she came over to say there was a delay, rather than making me hunt her down. The Chicken Parm: tasted odd and looked odd... for a minute or two, until I realized (and my wife conformed) that I got veal instead of chicken! I wasn't about to wait another 18 minutes, so I started eating it. The taste was OK, but the sauce left a greasy feeling on my lips and I noticed globs of fat floating in the sauce. The sauce was thick enough, but rather tasteless. The cheese seemed like a low grade pizza cheese rather than a better quality mozzarella, fontina or provolone. My wife had Pasta Forno. It was sort of stacked in the plate like lasagna but had large spaghetti-Os. These were more of a soup pasta. What was the chef thinking? The ingredients sounded good, pine nuts, raisens, etc... but the flavor was bland and a bit odd. She didn't finish it. My 9 year old son has a food palette and ordered the gnocchi Bolognese. He said it was sticky but the sauce tasted good. Later on I tried it--he was right. The sauce was OK, but the gnocchi had way too much flour in it, making it sticky on your teeth. Usually I like this dish and I'd take the leftovers home, but we left it on the table. I make my own killer gnochii, as my Italian Mom and Grandmother taught me, but this was an utter mistake. The chef should have never served it. Oh yea... and while we were there, they made another couple move because they fouled up another reservation. The old guy grabbed their drinks and said "follow me"! Two strikes and they're out for us!

Five of us had early dinner on a Sunday (6/7/15) at 3:00. The waitress seated 2 of us, which I liked instead of having to wait until all 5 of us were there. She brought us our soft drinks right away. The server was very nice, friendly but not overbearing. She told us she was new but we wouldn't have guessed it. We had soups, salads, & one hot appetizer, plus entrees. Everything was well paced and our meals all came out steaming hot! The food was very good. The only thing i didnt care for was the garlic rolls. They were very greasy in a large puddle of oil. Overall though we had a great experience. The servings were ridiculously big. Maybe smaller servings with lower pices could work!! :)

Terrible customer service and the food is of greasy and low quality. It's good if you're into Americanized Italian food, but beware that you are going to have to pay high prices for it. I definitely do not recommend going out of your way to eat here!

This is about as good as it gets for Italian food in the Lehigh Valley. It is old school Italian with huge portions that make for great leftovers. Everything I have had there has been excellent and I've tried many different things in the 10 or so times I've eaten there. The staff is very friendly and engaging. Prices are good, especially based on how much food you get. Nothing bad to say about this place at all!

My family and I just experienced Bella's for the first time last week and we all agreed we'll be going back! The food was fresh, delicious, and extremely plentiful. Their garlic knots are amazing! (You MUST love garlic) The service was excellent, but we were a little disappointed to learn it was a BYOB. The complimentary glass of wine with dinner, however, is consoling. The only negative that we found is the restaurant's busy location. We sat in the front room and traffic is not a view I enjoy while eating. Before you leave, you must try one of their desserts. We sampled three, although I claimed the tiramisu for myself. It was HEAVENLY; light, sweet, with that unmistakable coffee-cinnamon combination. I will order it every time I go- which will be as often as I can get to the area. Bella's is the best spot in Hellertown!

I love Bella's! Really excellent food, comfortable atmosphere, and somehow manages to strike a balance between a relaxed family environment that you also feel could be a special occasion restaurant. We've seen the service get better and better over time, and the food never disappoints. This is also a BYOB restaurant, so you can feel free to bring what you'd like to drink with you. Most importantly, again, the food is fantastic and you get sizable portions. My absolute favorites are their clams fra diavlo and eggplant parm. You won't be disappointed!

I attended a bridal shower at Bella's. All of the food is excellent. It's hard for traditional italian food to stand out, but it did. Their bread was fresh and came with this fresh chopped garlic tapenade which was all garlic yet not overwhelming. Also very good was what I am guessing was homemade italian dressing for our salad. It was full of grated cheese and herbs that really went well with greens. I only wish I lived closer so I could go for dinner one night.

Great food, prompt service, informative waitress and a smiling bus boy in a relaxed atmosphere made for a delightful evening. We ate at the outside patio and it was lovely. Dessert by their own bakery was amazing!

We used to really like this place, but no longer. They changed the menu and all of our favorite dishes are gone, including the osso bucco. The service was never great, but we were willing to overlook that, and I think it's slipped some more. They also either raised their prices or I just never paid that much attention, but they are too high for what you're getting and for the location. The place isn't bad, it's just that it's your run of the mill Italian place. We're looking for a new place to frequent now

My parents love this place and they're pretty picky. I've been waiting to try it and finally got my chance last week. Expect your eyes to roll back into your head from the deliciousness. Expect silence at the table because you will be in your own personal heaven. Best bruchetta and calamari (get the balsamic glaze one!) I've ever eaten ever. This place is fresh, quaint and authentic. You won't be disappointed. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

Fourth visit last evening to this nice byob. We were really impressed the first three visits, last nite was a small disappointment. I have has the same dish every time, veal and shrimp francais, and it wasn't as good as the first three times. My friends lasagna looked more like a bowl of soup, not a nice presentaion, but tasted good. Overall a decent value, and would reccomend anyone give it a try once. Friendly staff. Outdoor back patio was great on a warm october evening.

We had the opposite experience. Mediocre food and server with an attitude. All the other staff seemed very nice. Had no silverware and couldn't eat our entrees before they got cold because could we find no one to get silverware. They apologized profusely once we found someone. The decor is very nice, but we won't go back.

We were so excited to try out this new place. The interior is beautiful, the food awful. Ordered the calamari which was a big portion, lots of crumbles of breading and limp rubbery squid. Sauce was sugary sweet. Chicken parm was tough & swimming in overly sweet red sauce. Tortellini bolognaise was inedible. Overcooked pasta in greasy sweet sauce with chunks of unseasoned cheap ground beef and under cooked onions. The pizza with fresh mpzzarella gross , no flavor too much cheese that had absolutely no flavor. Service was great I was embarrassed for the owner when he stoped by. We didn't eat took all the food home and threw it out..

I've eaten at Bell's five times over the past year. It has been consistently excellent. As a Sicilian from Brooklyn, the Southern Italian/Sicilian fare served at Bella's is the food I grew up with. Since moving to the Lehigh Valley 15 years ago, I've found it difficult to find authentic Italian restaurants that satisfy my expectations. I had resigned myself to waiting for trips back home to Brooklyn or to "the City" to get back to my roots. The appetizers are very good; I've particularly enjoyed the bruschetta in the past. Last night my wife and I shared the bread bowl stuffed with crabmeat and roasted peppers in a pink sauce, baked with provolone cheese for an appetizer. For an entree, I had the rigatoni arriabatta and my wife had the calamari fra diavolo over linguini. Both were outstanding-the arrabinata was spicy but without overwhelming the flavor of the sausage, with its background of fennel. I've had the puttanesca and the spaghetti with pesto in the past; they've never been less than excellent. The portions are enormous; I think they could be scaled back without leaving anyone hungry. The desserts (from the next door cafe) were also first rate. I think we're lucky to have this unpretentious jewel in our backyard. I hope they do well. It's nice not to have to drive 90 miles to satisfy my craving for immigrant Italian standards.

My wife and I came across this great little italian restaurant after a night at the casino And boy are we glad we drove down main street cause the food at this place is excellent the portions are a very decent size and the quality of the food is definitely top notch My wife is very particular on how she likes her pasta (mushy) they had no problem with getting it the way she wanted it. The staff was very attentive and the owner also came over to make sure my wife was happy.Overall the only bad thing I can say is I can not find any coupons for this place but we will be visiting them anyways.

I came home ill from eating here. I was in my bathroom for 4 hours and only a Lomotil stopped the problem. My steak was swimming in a over a CUP of vinegar rather than a "reduction". My salad looked like it was made hours before (maybe the day before?) as the lettuce had already started to wilt and you could tell all the vegetables were in that same spot for a long time. My pasta was HARD (not al dente) and also must have sat for hours, with the sauce already poured on as it had separated - the thicker part of the sauce was on top and the watery liquid part was underneath the pasta. It must have been warmed in a microwave. It was hard and dry, except for the water at the bottom. My husband's steak was overcooked. Any meat would overcook with a bowl of hot liquid poured on top of it. Our steaks were totally lost in a sea of thin watery liquid and sliced vegetables. The abundance of liquid (and in my case vinegar) ruined the steak. The service was excellent though, and so was the garlic bread. The murals on the wall were a bit tacky, but other design elements were nice, like the exposed beams and high ceiling. But - they need another chef. I wouldn't chance eating here again - the cooking and storing of food is poor.

Got takeout this past Sunday and it was delectable. I placed an order of Clams Fra Diablo for my boyfriend and Gnocchi Bolognese but I requested that the make the saucy spicy. And boy did they delivery! Each dish came with a garden salad or upgrade to a antipasti salad for $1.50 - I opted for the latter. Again delicious. Back to the Clams dish; they were large clams and cooked perfectly. The spice index was high but extremely flavorful. Must visit.

The owner, Vinny, and his manager Vinny allowed our class reunion to take place in their restaurant! It is a warm and welcoming restaurant and I have to say, they could not have been more accommodating to us! The food was delicious and no request was left unanswered. They even welcomed us to stay in the adjacent ice cream shop/dessert lounge area to finish out our party after dinner! They definitely are real pros in the restaurant business! Kudos to the wait staff for their excellent work! We really love this place and will be back, for sure! If you haven't tried it, GO!!!

We have been here twice and will not go back. The food was not that good. Garlic was very over done. Chicken was very dry and hard to chew. They try and impress you with huge portions but we were looking for good food and we did not find it. It was nice that it was BYOB but overall we were very disappointed. Wait staff was a bit lackluster also.

We had dinner there Dec. 30th - I think they had been open a month at most. We arrived early, around 5:30, and were impressed with how attractive it is inside and that is was getting very busy as our stay went on. The menu is large & varied & sounds yummy. We both had a veal dish, veal parm and veal milanese. While neither of us thought it was the best quality of veal available, I enjoyed the milanese, especially the lemony dressing on the greens, but was disappointed it seemed to be the only veal dish that didn't come with a side of pasta....couldn't figure out why but I did taste my partner's pasta with red sauce and didn't care of the taste of the sauce. I'd give it another try though maybe meat sauce. A couple things were glaring to us - the ambiance, menu and clientele say upscale but the silverware comes wrapped in a flimsy paper napkin held together with sticky paper and the water and soft drinks are served in red plastic glasses. Both these things say casual pizza joint to me. If they have to use paper napkins rather than cloth, at least switch to better quality and please....lose the red plastic glasses! We'd love to see you succeed and continue to offer expanded good dining choices in Hellertown. \

For the price, local competition provides higher quality Italian food. Sauce was salty, clams marinara had broken clam shells in it,staff resembled keystone cops. Disappointing evening on many levels. :(

If your in the mood for good Italian Food, go to Bella's. My husband had stuffed shells, and oh boy they were stuffed. I had chicken with peppers, onions, and sundried tomatoes in a pink sauce. It is so good. Portion sizes are large, I always take home leftovers. Oh and don't forget the homemade rolls, that are drenched in butter and garlic. My husband and I always enjoy our meals there, I hope you enjoy it as well.

Food is bland. Quality of meat is low. I was looking to cater a large party and was told they are not a catering company after they showed me their specific menu named "catering menu". For better Italian food and service, head to Dimaio's a few mins away.

Used to be a great local spot to get creamy gelato in a variety of flavors. But now although they advertise "gelato is here" on the walkway in front of the entrance, the disappointing truth is that there are two choices, already scooped into a cup, sitting in the freezer in the back room. Two options. No more trying to decide on a flavor with your eyes. The decision is made for you. Not only that, the two scoops in a plastic cup will set you back $6.00. A rip off.

How did I not dine here before? I thought I'd been to all the "visit worthy" places relatively close to me. And yes, this place is definitely "visit worthy". Bella's FAR exceeded my litmus test of Italian restaurants. There is only one other restaurant that has ever done that (Yikes...I don't see that I ever reviewed them, dammit!) Usually you get some bagged frozen stuff that is just dropped in the fryer and tossed on a plate. Or somebody will show a little more ambition and cut a Polly O string cheese into 3 inch sections and roll it in their own bread crumbs and seasoning. But Bella? Very unique, very tasty. They were round patties, a little over 2 inches in diameter, with perfect seasoning. I could have cancelled my entree and ordered 3 more of the same, they were that good. It was a 5 star experience with the exception of my entree. I had the chicken parm over angel hair. The pasta was cooked just right (angel hair is SO easy to overcook), and the marinara was perfect. Great flavor, chunky, the right consistency, and didn't drain to leave a watery mess under my pasta. But the chicken itself? Uneven. The first 70% was good, but as I got to the other side of it, it was so tough, I had to be careful cutting with the knife, as I applied more and more pressure to it. And the flavor seemed to go downhill when I got to that tough portion. I think because the cut of chicken was thinner there, it became overcooked. Tsk tsk...that's why it's so important to have an even cut of meat! My dining partner couldn't eat all of his entree, which was spaghetti with Bolognese and meatballs. LOL ... the meatballs were almost the size of baseballs. He couldn't wait to call Mom and tell her it was the first time he'd ever dined out and had meatballs the size of hers. Such a large portion that a take home container was necessary. Oh...and the garlic bread. Hmmmm. I do like garlic, really I do. I always keep a large jar of grated garlic in my refrigerator (I stopped making my own long ago), and I use quite a bit of it when I cook. But this was too much for me. It wasn't so much bread with garlic as garlic with bread. In hindsight, maybe I should have just scraped off as much as possible. But really, my advice to this restaurant is to provide a basket of bread, and the garlic/oil separate. Let your patrons dip their bread if they want. At the very least, cut back on the garlic a bit. Ambience: it was busy but still kinda subdued. Overall, very nice, able to carry on a conversation without yelling over the din. The restaurant itself is nice, cloth napkins but not a stuffy atmosphere nor overly high prices. Service: Wow. Our waiter was excellent. Water glasses were refilled constantly. The appetizer arrived so fast, I thought that they had made a mistake with the wrong table. Good turnaround time on the entrees, too. So Bella's was sooo close to 5 stars, if it weren't for my sawing at my chicken parm and hoping that I don't break my knife. I would definitely return, though I'd ask for plain bread instead of garlic bread, and I'd probably order 2 servings of fried mozzarella. Oink.

Nice place, good service, they have gluten free options, which makes going here a joy. I had Penne with Vodka Sauce and shrimp which was delicious. The veal Marsala looked great too. A must try in Hellertown.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
