Focus on the food people!!!! Yes the ambiance is not ideal and the decor is dated but that should not overshadow the perfectly cooked and seasoned food that Nais consistently delivers. Amazing filet. The trout special is delicious. For appetizers try the trout mousse and the escargot. Love this place!

Great, reliable BYOB restaurant with outstanding, reasonably priced menus selections. I had to feed five important guests on short notice on Friday, one with a birthday! We called Nais Cuisine, got a quiet table and fabulous service. Two guests ordered the duck and loved it. I got the filet and my son got the sirloin. Both dishes were incredible--better than 21 Club in NYC! We brought hi end Champagne and beer and had a blast. I brought a small birthday cake from the Bakery House, which the wait staff cheerfully and nicely served--even though the dessert selections at Nais Cuisine are incredible! I will return, and so will my guests!!!
We came here for Valentine's Day. The staff were very friendly. We were seated in the back. They lit a candle on the table and had a flower with a heart in it on the table which was nice. We ordered Lobster Bisque for an appetizer, which was very good. We also were given hot, fresh rolls with butter that were very delicious! Our soup came out in a timely manner. However we then waited... And waited... And waited for our main course. My husband ordered the trout which he really liked (and continued to compliment when he was eating the leftovers the next day). I ordered the red wine duck and was very disappointed. Perhaps it was the way it was cooked since it was still partially on the bone that I didn't like. The skin was very crispy (almost hard) and the duck was dried out. There wasn't enough sauce to help with the duck being dried out. The meals came with a side of potatoes and vegetables (carrots and green beans). The side dish was very tasty. Overall, it was a nice ambiance and friendly staff. Most of the food was good. We would go back again, I'll just choose a different dish. There were plenty of options that sounded delicious to choose from!

My late wife and I went there since the place opened--- it essentially is the same, old tables, old chairs, a bit dark, and now 30 years later with expanded dining facility. Absolutely the finest rack of lamb in the area, having eaten lamb in more places that I want to admit across the world--- it remains among the best that I've ever had, New York City, London, Paris, or Sydney, it ranks with any of them. The Caesar salad is great, and oysters on the bed of spinach with vermouth sauce rivals anything you could have. It is a great little joint. 30 years ago and today

Eating here for 20 plus years. Easy parking, BYOB bring great wines, friendly good service. Always order Duck with orange sauce and oyster appetizer in curry sauce. Both consistently excellent. Best duck anywhere at a bargain price. Ambiance fair but the food and service easily make up for it.

What an absolute joke. This place was so incredibly poor I could not handle it. Got there at 8. Had reservations. Got seated and it took literally 20 minutes until we got our wine opened or got bread. On top of that, the service was worse in terms of absolutely showing no care for our presence in their restaurant. Got the lobster bisque which was cold (probably because it sat for 20 minutes as we waited for our waitress). My girlfriend enjoyed her French onion soup. We then waited for another 25 minutes and not one person stopped to check on us. I felt like a fool. Then some young kid resetting tables was just dropping all the silverware at one time to reset tables. Right next to us. We asked him to please be quieter. He listened to us but he cleanly didn't hear us. I could keep going on but I am just tired of writing about a place that I should not care about. We walked out and I threw a twenty on the table to cover the soups, but I already feel like I should not have even done that. What a poor place. I won't go back. I have better places where I can waste my time and money. Thanks nais for an incredibly horrible experience!

Don't let the small number of reviews fool you! This is a very good BYOB, romantic restaurant. Let's start outside and work our way in. Nais is very easy to find and there is a great parking lot directly across the street. What a pleasure not to fight the parking battle. 25¢ for 30 minutes. Two bucks for dinner, not bad! The outside of the restaurant is very plain. I think it may scare away some folks. I've uploaded a picture to prepare you. The inside entry is also unremarkable. Hang in there, it gets better! Inside is just fine. It's a little dark with lots of candlelight. A great place for a romantic dinner. Tip - Big groups are usually seated in the back but there are also some tables for two back there. Savvy diners (Yelpers) avoid potential noise issues and ask to be seated near the front. Regarding the food; other reviewers have mentioned the steak and duck for good reason. They are both consistently very good. There are plenty of other choices. Check out Evalina's pictures as they are a great representation of the food. If you are looking for dinner out in the western suburbs, you should give Nais a try.

Waited 30 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. Another 15 minutes at the table with no sign of a waitress. No bread, no water, no glasses for our wine. Walked out, and no one even noticed we had left! Never tasted the food, and will never return.

I went here recently with a group of friends. I was very disappointed. First of all we got there at 7:45 on a Saturday night and honestly it felt like they were getting ready to close and they were not happy to see us. We were seaed in a dark corner by the front door. Secondly, the decor was outdated 10 years ago, now it is just sad, all that mauve, please update. Lastly the food was very mediocre. The stuffed mushrooms were only partially cooked and had some bland liquid just floating on the plate. The shrimp dish I ordered had artichoke hearts that were the canned kind that are in a brine and made dish taste just sour. I had eaten here several years ago and at that time the food was good at that time. What a disappointment.

This was our destination for Mother's Day and it definitely delivered. The French Cuisine with a little bit of Asian Fusion flair really helper to make it stand out. And since solid BYOBs are pretty hard to come by in Suburbia it was good to know that here existed. The service was pretty spot on without being obtrusive. And overall the entrees were pretty reasonably priced. $18 bought me a good sized portion of shrimp and scallops with mushrooms and artichoke hearts in a champagne cream sauce. And if that wasn't enough they even included a side of escalloped potatoes with squash and zucchini. While the seafood entrees were pretty delectable it was pretty hard to choose because the meat entrees featured steak, rack of lamb, and duck prepared in a variety of ways. For an appetizer we also treated ourselves to some portebello mushrooms that were stuffed with miniature crab cakes, which were amazing as they sound. and dessert hooked up plenty of decadent treats like a triple chocolate mousse cake. When it comes to BYOBs I've definitely been to better. But Nais Cuisine definitely stands out as one of the better restaurants that I've been too in suburbia.

First time at this place and enjoyed a nice dinner. From the outside you may have reservations, but the people are super nice, and the food was quite good. The French Onion soup was rich, loaded with onions, and topped with a lot of cheese on top. It also came to the table, piping hot, the way soup should be served. The escargot in spinach was good. I would have preffered more garlic in the dish, but it was still a nice way to start the meal. The rack of lamb for $30 is crazy. 8 chops coated with a mild mustard rub. Where in MainLine can you go and get a true rack of lamb for $30??? It was prepared as ordered, medium, and it came with a nice size portion of fresh veggies. The duck with raspberry sauce was a full half duck coated with a nice rich sauce. The skin was crisp as I asked for, and it also came with a plate of veggies. The service was very good and they have plenty of parking across the street from the restaurant. The lighting inside could use a little updating, but overall I would tell anyone to try this place. They take all credit cards, and byo.

Slow. Beyond slow. It should not take 45 minutes to bring soup or a simple plate of spring mix. Entrees arrived more than an hour and a half after we ordered. When someone is hungry and can't even eat bread while waiting, this is a dealbreaker. When the food FINALLY arrived, it was decent but not astounding. The side vegetables consisted of approximately 2 tablespoons of rice and some zucchini drenched in butter. The duck was tasty, the sauce was jamlike, but not worth that kind of wait. Our server was helpful about pointing out the gluten-free menu items. Maybe it was an off night, but I wasn't pleased.

My wife and I have coming to Nais Cuisine for the past 20 years and never had a poor meal. For a BYOB with reasonable prices this eating establishment is outstanding. I usually have a steak or duck and occasionally have the salmon and never disappointed. My spouse generally enjoyes the talipia, onion soup or ceasar salad. The service we experience is always good.

What a great little french/oriental place! I went here with my family one night to celebrate a birthday. Its nothing over the top but very intimate and lots of candle light. The entrance is uninspiring but once we sat down I was in love with the place. I started out with a mixed green salad and for my main entree I chose the Thai Shrimp. The shrimp were cooked so perfectly and the sauce was just right...a little sweet a little spicy. A few other people got the roasted duck (which apparantly they are known for) and raved about it. I can't wait to go back!!

A hidden gem inside a nondescript exterior. I ate at Nais with a few co-workers last spring as a part of the dining out for aids night. It's a great Asian/French fusion B.Y.O.B Our meals were superb. Yummy and tasty appetizers crab stuffed mushrooms and an oyster special. For my meal I had the perfectly cooked sea bass special. Both the shrimp dish and ravioli, which my friends had were excellent. I will go back.

Maybe it was having an off night...restaurants sometimes do just that... Nais Cuisine is tucked in a side street in Havertown and you would never know it was there because there is nothing that really separates it from any of the other businesses in that general area..nothing distinctive to draw you in from the outside. I went there with my parents and some family friends to celebrate my mom's birthday last week. I didn't pick the place so I was a little hesitant on going because of my lack of knowledge of it. I wanted it to be special for my mom but it didn't turn out that way unfortunately. The waitress was cold and not very inviting. She started to recite the specials by telling us that there was no salmon, veal or sirloin available from the menu that evening. My mom had her heart set on veal so that left her chicken, lamb or duck...ugh! But more importantly, back to the service.- we were nestled in the back room which was kind of dark and dingy. There were only 2 tables that were full (ours and another table of 6). You would think that the restaurant was full and she was the only waitress that night. We hardly saw her. We would have to call for her and ask for more bread or a spoon or whatever we needed.. (BTW- props to the water boy--he kept us thoroughly hydrated that evening). We placed our order and then the waitress came back a minute later to tell us that they were out of chicken (a family friend has ordered it). So that left duck and lamb. Double ugh! The food was average if you like lamb or duck. The surroundings are quite worn and outdated and if there was background music playing (I think there was), it could have been louder. I have to disagree with Steven B on this one but he's my friend and we go way back so I know he will understand... :) Sorry Mom, I'll make sure you go to a better restaurant next year for your birthday.

First time visit to have dinner with friends that have been before. The menu was good and had a decent variety of basic French and Oriental influenced offerings. Reasonably priced, good portions and tasty. Only dissapointment was dessert which was so-so. BYOB is a plus and service was good. All-in-all, a place to go back to for a casual non-pretentious nite out.

We were looking for something new and different. Nais Cuisine failed to impress on all accounts. The food wasn't bad, but given the prices, I would have expected more than canned, bottled and frozen. After all, I can do that at home. My wife ordered the Belgian endive salad which came with what was clearly a bottled dressing. I had a duck dish which was not only over-cooked, but came garnished with canned mandarin orange segments. My wife's trout was stuffed with what appeared to be frozen spinach. (The 15-year-old had nothing to complain about, but he's 15 and eats anything that isn't nailed down.) When I spend nearly $100 for 3 people to eat, I expect fresh ingredients, properly prepared, not something I could have thrown together at home.

I went here due to a recommendation from a co-worker and it was good, not memorable though. There was only one waitress working that night, apparently they were short-handed, and it took fifteen minutes for my mom and I to be seated. We had second thoughts about ordering since seating took so long when the restaurant was half empty, but the waitress assured us the food would be out on time; she was right. We split the escargo with spinach and cheese, which was very good. For entrees we both had a different type of roasted duck, mine was with red wine and hers was with raspberry sauce. The skin was crispy and perfectly cooked and I enjoyed the duck, but some parts were overcooked. The scalloped potatoes that came with it were a good pairing and were taasty. However, we got a small amount of vegetables given the size of the half duck. I liked the meal and would like to try the place again, but only on a night where there is more than one server because she was hurrying all over the place to serve every table. She did a good job, but you can't have one waitress working the entire restaurant.

This is a great neighborhood gem. Our service is always impeccable, and the food cannot be beat for the price. While it may not look like much from the outside, I can assure you that the tasty food is all that matters. Plus, it's BYO.

I've been going to Nais for 20 years usually once a year on average. It's a fantastic neighborhood restaurant. The black lobster ravioli in a champagne sauce is my favorite app. The french Onion soup is also very good. I've never had a bad meal here. The vegetables are also cooked perfectly. Low key nothing amazing inside or out with the decor. A way above average BYOB. The menu hasn't really changed in 20 years so I don't go as often as I used to. I like trying something different.

I have a mixed review. It's wonderful to have a nice restaurant in walking vicinity, and, for the most part, I've always had good food at Nais Cuisine. But I've been there frequently in the past 12 months, and each time it was more disappointing than the last! One of my main complaints is how they are consistently out of something. For example, they serve a wonderful dessert called Marjolaine, but the last two times I have been there, both on a Saturday night, rather early, they had none! My other main complaint concerns their "specials." I don't know when I was there last that one of the specials wasn't trout with crabmeat and whatever. I had it once, and it was very good. But if it's offered every single time, it's NOT SPECIAL. It's ordinary and boring. The service has always been spotty. My party of five last night had to ask for water and bread refills more than once! If we're going to spend $140 before tip, we want it to be the way it used to be there -- something to rave about -- and it's just not anymore.

Just ate here Sunday of Labor Day Weekend. Family dinner for my twin boys 18th birthday, 4 teenagers and 3 adults. We had not been here since before the boys were born - it used to be a favorite date place of ours. I can safely say that Nais is as excellent as ever. We sat in the front by the window which makes me feel like we are in a city BYOB. I prefer that to the larger room in back. We had different appetizers but there were rave reviews for the black lobster ravioli, the trout mousse, and the angel hair pasta. Two of us had the soft shell special, one had lamb curry, one had the steak, one had the salmon, one had the Thai shrimp and one had shrimp and scallops. All dishes were pronounced excellent! The truffle desserts, chocolate mousse, Creme brûlée, and carrot cake finished the evening. Extremely attentive service, (but not intrusive) appropriate waiting time, and affordable prices. I highly recommend Nais as a still-reliable neighborhood favorite with high-quality food! Can't go wrong.

After reading previous reviews I was excited to give this place a try. It is true, the décor is dated to say the least, but who cares? I am there to eat, so if the food delivers, it is all good. We called in advance to see if we needed to reserve a table and reception said they could get us in "no later than 7:30," but when we arrived the place was maybe 1/8 full. Plenty of room, so I have no idea why there was reluctance to book us a little later. Still, not a big deal at all. My girlfriend and I shared a ravioli appetizer and then both had curry dishes. There is no other way to say it. The food was awful. I don't know if it was an "off night," but the sauce on the ravioli was exceptionally sweet. It tasted terrible. The ingredients in the curry were adequately cooked, but the flavor was atrocious. It was practically inedible, just sour and bland at the same time. I am by no means a picky eater or a big foodie. I do appreciate good flavors and eat out enough to have a decent idea of what is good and what is not. This place was truly disgusting. I would not recommend it at all, which is too bad considering there are not a lot of places in Havertown, and I really prefer to support local places whenever possible.

Food was very very good. The duck especially. Only downside is the poor lighting. Oh yes - the soups were cold when they arrived at the table.

The best place to eat in Havertown. You wouldn't know it from the outside, or the decor, but the food and service is top notch. My family eats there all the time. The duck is fantastic! BYOB!
