I think this is the best Asian place on the Mainline after Margaret Cho's, at least in terms of food (Margaret's is a much more formal place and big; this is a small establishment and casual). The only disappointment we had was that the online menu is much more extensive than what they actually offer, and the actual menu is heavy on a fried things, which are not my favorite. We ordered a papaya shrimp salad, which was good. Shrimp was fresh, flavor was not overwhelming (sometimes cooks put too much vinegar or other strong ingredients int the sauce, but this was well balanced), and the mango and vegetables were fresh. We ordered the pad Thai, which was surprisingly good. I always think of pad Thai as an Americanized dish and too sweet, but my husband likes it. This one was on the much less sweet side, so you could actually taste the other flavors. Their tofu is really good, again fresh, with a lovely nutty flavor. The noodles were not stick together and were not drowned in sauce, all pluses in my book. Last we order the Penang curry, which was light, not too spicy, so other flavors came through, and really well blended (there were no pools of grease in the sauce as it settled, which is unusual). The vegetables were great, they were not mushy the way that frozen veggies are, so I am inclined to think they use fresh ones. I was also Impressed by their rice. It is the white sticky kind, but not heavy. It still had fluff and texture. In short, these people know what they are doing and care enough to use fresh ingredients. The wait staff is friendly, relaxed, and attentive. They are nice to children. The place is small and might feel cramped when crowded, but they took care to stagger the seating when we were there, so we felt comfortable. . We were there on a Thursday night and the service was not slow by our standards, but others seemed a bit put out. On a busy night, you might find that the wait is a bit long. They also sell jewelry (go figure), so if you need a new necklace, take a look. Overall, really positive experience. We will be back to try more. NB - they have an online ordering system, but it doesn't work. Everyone who ordered online had to wait 20 minutes for their food. For take out, call in. $15 min for credit cards. BYOB.

This neighborhood Thai restaurant is a gem! The best Tom Kha soup in Delco for sure! The Pad Thai is also delicious! It's a tiny restaurant but the decor is exotic enough to make you feel as if you could be in the far east. The staff is attentive and service is fast. Parking can be a bit tricky on the street but there is ample parking around the corner at the Oakmont parking lot. A must-try if you're looking for good Thai food in Delco.

The food was really good and the server was very friendly. My only crit is that I like my Thai food spicy and they were a bit confused about my request for some sort of hot sauce to add in...said they had never heard of Sriracha!

We've been frequenting Sukho Thai since it first opened, and we've watched it morph from a small, sleepy BYOB family restaurant into a bustling attraction on Havertown's boho strip of Eagle Road, replete with a yoga studio, Buddhist meditation center, and Kangaroo U. (you can't make this up) -- a kid's party mill with inflatable slides and climbing walls. It's been some time since my wife and I visited Sukho Thai. The menu has changed and a number of our old favorites are now gone (including a Thai barbecue chicken that was superb). But the new menu is quite reliable and the food fresh, pleasingly prepared, and served with care and attention. Sukho Thai's soups are delicious, but do note that if you want them served at slightly higher than American grade spice/heat levels you'll have to ask. My wife's Tom Yum was on the low end of the seasoning scale, but the lemongrass was tangy enough to make up for the lack of kick. My Tom Ka was perfect -- the coconut milk broth was balanced, and neither too viscous or too thin (always a challenge when making Tom Ka). There was just enough galangal to make the flavor interesting, and the mushrooms were plump and moist. In the absence of my once-usual serving of Thai barbecue chicken I ordered a plate of Rad Nar, sometimes (and unfortunately) transliterated as "Rat Na." Rad Nar is a thick rice noodle with the consistency of a good, slightly chewy dumpling. The proper way to serve Rad Nar is with meat or seafood (usually chicken, pork or shrimp) and a hearty sauce made with stock, sweet soy, fish sauce, pepper and sugar. Sukho Thai's Rad Nar noodles were ideal -- very thick, moist, and just springy enough to keep your teeth busy. What sets their sauce apart from others that I've had is the black bean base, which gives the dish a savory and rather unusual flavor. My wife's meal was quite good, too -- a solidly seasoned melange of seafood, vegetables, lemongrass and noodles. For dessert we tried a fried banana and jasmine rice spring roll served with an aromatic, sweet and tangy mango sauce -- the perfect ending to a fine meal. Be forewarned that weekend nights are quite busy past six o'clock and the restaurant fills quickly. The wait staff becomes less and less responsive as the tables become increasingly populated, so try to arrive a little earlier (say 5:30 or so) if you'd like to get your check in a timely fashion. But the table service was careful and attentive.

Had the Tulip Dumpling, Chicken Pad Thai and Pineapple Fried Rice w/Veggies. Very good food and well priced.

My husband and I are new to Thai food. We saw that Sukhothai was open on Eagle Road and decided to give it a try. We ordered the Chicken Pad Thai, Panang Curry & Chicken Skewers. For a first experience, I thought that these dishes were amazing. The food was fresh, and the portions were large. Since the first time we got take-out, we have ordered from this spot about 5 or 6 times. Definitely in our take-out rotation.

i've been to kaffir twice now. the first time i had one of the curries, which was delicious. i was so happy to find such good thai food in havertown. on my second visit, i ordered the pad see ew, which was very mediocre. this is my go-to thai dish, so i've tried it in many different restaurants, and the kaffir thai version seemed very americanized. it's a cute place with good service and it's local. i'll probably go back from time to time but stick to the curries.

Super Friendly service, excellant food, Owner even made us a special dessert. Highly, Highly recommend.

Great! Today was my first time eating at this place. This is probably one of the best Thai restaurant you can find in the town. First, even though the restaurant is small, it is enough to enjoy the meal with peaceful music and many cultural displays. Second, the owner is really kind, really willing to serve you. Third and lastly, the food is delicious. I had the lunch special, the roll came out as soon as it was done cooking. It was hot but very delicious. Soup was also delicious. The foods comes out on pretty glass plates. I had red curry as my main dish, you've got to try it! But one thing I have to mention is that these foods are generally salty. But overall it was wonderful.
(5)Antonio L.
Delicious food, great service with a very charming atmosphere. The red curry was fantastic and they owner was super great!
(5)Lucy D.
The food was delicious, but it was really loud. I came here with a small group, including my 65+ yr-old parents, and we could barely hear each other over the din of Saturday night chatter and laughter. It definitely seems like a place with devoted regulars. I'd go back for sure, but with a younger group that didn't mind the noise level.
(4)Bo B.
Great Thai food and BYOB. Service is a little off - so I guess it is authentic! Never been dissapointed - food is always fresh. Prices are a tad higher than comparable restaurants but it is BYOB.
(4)Stephen S.
Went here recently. My companion and I were blown away by the food and the service. The drunken noodles with shrimp were the best. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, as were all the vegetables, which came out crisp but not raw. The server could not have been more attentive and accomodating. Will be back next time I want Thai food as this is THE best I know.
(5)Dirk D.
the food was tastless, i ordered the springroll which was meh, the rad nar tasted like chicken brocolli from a chinese restarant and the noodles were overdone. i like that it delivers but the food wasnt tasty.
(2)Elizabeth A.
I saw this place a year ago and have been meaning to try it out but never had the chance. When I just heard that they deliver I finally was able to try it. My husband and I ordered last weekend and were very impressed. The wait for the food was average for delivery - about 35 minutes. I ordered Tom Yum soup with shrimp which was way too lemony for me. I couldn't even eat one bite. I also ordered the Rad Nar with shrimp which was pretty good. My husband had the traditional Pad Thai with chicken and was very impressed. The menu looks awesome and I can't wait to order and try out some more dishes.
(3)Christian V.
Best Thai spot I have found in the mid Del Co area. Very pleasantly surprised.
(4)Suz R.
Went here for pick up. The shrimp pad Thai was good, but I didn't expect to pay $14.73 for a medium styro-foam container of pad Thai to go...
(3)S R.
Excellent food! Eating here is a great experience overall. This was the first time we visited Kaffir Thai Cusine and we are definitely coming back. The portion sizes are very generous and we loved everything we ate. We tried the curry puffs, thai dumplings, tulip dumplings, shrimp in blanket, the Thai ravioli soup, the pad thai, and the pad see ew. All are recommended - everything was very fresh and tasty. The Thai tea was excellent as well. The owner and staff are very friendly and the food is well priced. This is an excellent restaurant to try.

Very good Thai. Very friendly staff and owner. Fast service. Good price point. Delivery. Family owns Chiangmai in Conshohocken, PA. Highly recommend (both).
(5)Bamsel F.
I love the food here. The Evil Jungle Princess is absolutely delicious, but then again, everything is. It is such a nice change from the usual pizza and burger places around the area. The owner is also super nice and accommodating, I'll definitely be going back!
(5)Gwen G.
I really love this little BYOB and agree with all the reviews. I love the duck special which they always have. Crispy and hardly any fat and deliciously served in yummy orange or plum sauce with jasmine rice. Their traditional thai fair is great too. Definitely, try it out!
(4)Carlo Anthony S.
Awesome little Thai restaurant. It's very unassuming as you first walk in but the dishes start coming out and you are very happy. It's great when food makes you happy even before you take a bite. We had the Chicken spring rolls, Thai sausage (new favorite ), Crispy Duck with curry sauce( bit spicy) but very tasty , and a noodle dish can't remember the name but again was good. It took me 3 years to find a place in Havertown that I would recommend. This is a unpretentious , great vibe, good service and a comfortable affordable place ( 3 appetizers, 2 entrees, 1 dessert and 2 Thai Iced teas - $62.00).
(4)Christina T.
Excellent. Great atmosphere. 5star lemongrass soup. Drunken noodles with shrimp were amazing- so tasty. Love this place.
(5)Natasha W.
This is our favourite local Thai place. Food is great. Service is good. Reasonable pricing. Love the crispy duck pad thai.

My family and I decided to dine here this past Saturday. I am so happy we did! he food is FANTASTIC!!! We ordered the tulip dumplings, the fish soup, the papaya salad (my favorite!) and the tofu triangles.... ALL WERE DELISH!! We then had the duck Pad Thai & The Evil Jungle Princess with shrimp for entrees... All wonderful! We will DEFINITELY be back! It is under new ownership as of a few months ago. We met the owners, VERY nice & personable.... The family owns 2 other Thai restaurants & they are the real deal.. the atmosphere is pleasant with decor from Thailand... I am so happy that SUKHOTHAI is close by..... this is a MUST if you like Thai food! My husband and son enjoyed the meal as well!! This is an EXCELLENT restaurant!!! Fresh ingredients and delicious preparation! The prices are very reaonable as well!! Thank you for being here!

Havertown isn't exactly a dining hotspot, but we do have some choice spots. In a location which almost seems doomed, this newer little thai joint has survived. It's an adorable little tiny spot, there can't be more than 20-25 seats available in this place. They don't have a very extensive menu, which isn't a bad thing. They have the standard thai fare. I tried the pad thai (which isn't something I normally eat) and the spicy noodle (which is normally drunken noodles in other spots) and loved them both. It's totally family run and the service is just fine. The food came out freakishly fast. I have many thai choices in my area, but honestly, I prefer this underdog!

Looking for a local adventure, we sought out new Thai restaurants. Originally went for Pa Pa in Bala, but based on Yelpers' reviews, we passed and instead tried Sukhotai and glad we did. We had a wide variety of dishes (six eating family style). Great atmosphere (except for the corny music, which fades into the background), delicious and fresh food well presented, pleasant service, and very reasonably priced. Will definitely go back.

Sukhothai has been under new ownership since April and it's a real jewel of a place not to be missed! I've been there with my wife, family, and with many friends. Everyone has been HIGHLY impressed with the variety and quality of food. The owners name is Weena who was formerly the head cook at a Thai restaurant in Conshochocken. I've known her for years and she's one of a kind. If you want something special or cooked to a certain specification, she'll do everything in her power to accomodate you! The menu is just a starting point for a tasty journey to the land of Thai food! One of my favorites is duck, either chu-chee or tutti-fruity. The sauces on each dish are what sets this dish apart from all others. From appitizers to dessert, you'll leave Sukhothai with a smile on your face. A real plus is the fact it's a BYOB. There are a great number of craft beers that pair nicely with whatever type of food you desire. Tonight, I had a yummy summer wheat ale that went perfectly with my entree. I can't say enough positive things about this place, the owner, or the food. If you like being considered 'family,' this is most definately the place to go.

Best Kept Secret Near the Mainline. Everyone talks about Nais Cuisine, this is the restaurant to frequent. Fresh is the best word to describe the success of their cooking. I love Thai food and the only local place to go was the one on Lancaster in Ardmore. This place is much better. They have a great menu and the chef is fantastic. The family that runs the place is friendly and sweet. The y are still a BYOB! They also have take-out for busy weeks. I'm sure this place won't stay a secret.
(5)Tres T.
I'm Thai and I have to say, this restaurant may look authentic in terms of decor but the food is not on par with some other restaurants in the area. We ordered the curry puffs and spring rolls. Both were not fresh and the curry puff's outer shell was dark, almost burnt. Typically a curry puff is light and fluffy on the outside, hence the puff. The spring roll was very dry on the inside, quite honestly it did not taste fresh at all. I also ordered a thai iced tea and it was very watered down. For my entree I stuck to something safe--Rad Nar noodles. Being that we didn't enjoy the appetizers, I'm glad I got an entree that is difficult to mess up. The food here is decent but can not pass as fresh Thai in my book so I won't be going back.

saw the sign posted today: sukhothai now does delivery!! oh man...this could get dangerous.....

Went back here on Saturday, 7/25 with my daughter. We ordered pretty much the same thing as last time and were not disappointed. Food and service were great.

Just terrible in every way. This place has the ambiance of a dungeon. As soon as we entered we were struck by the smell of marijuana. It was so dim that we used the lights on our phones to see the menu. The menu left us with a few questions... the waiter seemed beyond nervous that he didn't know the answers. When he went to the back to ask the chef, we could hear him being screamed at for asking! No wonder he looked scared! Apparently every item has fish sauce in it, including the items in the "vegetarian" section of the menu. It is rare to leave a restaurant before the drinks are even served.
(1)Marisa W.
The service is AMAZING, whenever I call the lady takes the time to explain the different types of noodles ..ect. Last time I called and picked up my order the lady behind the counter was so nice, totally made my experience here twenty times better. The food is very good here, one of the best Thai places Ive been to in Havertown. Spring rolls are are great , crunchy and dipping sauce is awesome. I've had spicy house noodles they were amazing and not too spicy. Their vegetarian Mussaman Curry, tofu triangle was great as well. If i lived closer I would order from this place more often.

One of the best Thai food places along the Mainline that gets extra points for their easy online ordering. I have always been a big believer that, for the most part, the best food is in the small hole-in-the-wall eateries. My faith was rewarded at Kaffir Thai Cuisine in Havertown. The location is very small and quaint along Eagle Road (parking can be a bit of a hassle). The interior is well decorated but is typical of what you'd see in a Thai food place. I ordered my meal via Yelp's EAT24 app for pickup and was very impressed by the whole experience. Kaffir is one of the few places you can order online, really convenient for stealthy office orders. I ordered the classics - Pad Thai ($12.95), Drunken Noodle ($12.95) and Thai Iced Tea ($2.50). The Drunken Noodles were in the higher percentile of Drunken Noodles I've had, with soft flat noodles, lots of spice, and plenty of vegetables. The real star of the meal was the Pad Thai. My most common complaint with Pad Thai is that it lacks the flavor of other items on the menu (especially the Drunken Noodles). This Pad Thai was different - the stir-fried thin rice noodles provided a perfect base for the tofu, egg, bean sprouts, scallions and ground peanuts, and the dish was actually a little spiced to complement those flavors. Huge bonus points for the Thai Iced Tea, which was not only sweet and delicious, but came with a sealed top to prevent spillage if you're picking it up to go. As an avid take-out person who likes to order the specialty drinks as well as food, this innovation was clutch. Overall, I was very impressed with Kaffir Thai Cuisine, and it may easily become my go-to Thai place in the area. Great food, fast service, an excellent online ordering system, those sealed Thai Iced Tea cups - I can't find many complaints.

Three stars equal A-OK and that's perfect for these BYOB folks. Over the years the lovely wife and I have been here many times. It's so close to our home so we can walk to it. Almost five years ago I reviewed them and gave them three stars and I'm sticking with it. The atmosphere here is a little odd. The décor itself is typical Thai. Trust me; you've seen it a thousand times. The first odd thing is that it's too dark. Make sure you have your flashlight app ready so you can see the menu. The second odd thing is the background music is most often classic rock. On our last visit WMGK was playing. I love classic rock but Peter Frampton with my Drunken Noodles is just too weird! The servers here are typical young kids. The service itself is three stars but if you have questions about the food it can be a hit or miss proposition. So what about the food? The word that comes to mind is TYPICAL. You'll find exactly what you expect on the menu. All the Thai staples are there. The portion sizes are normal and in some cases quite large. Prices are also typical. Drunken Noodles with your choice of protein will set you back $12.95. When my wife and I look back on our many visits, we can't think of a serious miss on the food. We walk out stuffed but not raving about any particular dish. Three stars is perfect for them.

We have tried delivery here twice. The first time it took about 1.5 hours. When the food arrived it was good/OK, not very warm by then. We figured it was just the first time / fluke etc. We recently ordered again and the same thing happened, it took about 1.5 hours to get the food, it was luke warm and this time they forgot the white rice (or you have to order separately, I can't remember, it doesn't come with it). We had to call the restaurant and check up on the food, and it still took about 20 mins after that. I ordered the crispy duck pad thai and it was chewy by the time it arrived, like a chicken nugget. At $17 for that entree, delivered luke warm and chewy, this place is permanently off our thai delivery list and we will be looking for another good delivery spot. Apart from issues with the delivery, I think the food is just "OK" and its overpriced. The pad thai is nothing great, no extra limes or peanut, this time it was greasy likely from the non-crispy duck. My husband gets curry dishes (~$12-$14 each) and those are alright. I think it's overpriced for what it is and we will be trying other places from now on, they lost our business with the slow delivery and luke warm foods.
(2)Joe B.
I've only ordered delivery, so I can't comment on the actual restaurant experience. Delivery took almost an hour and a half. Food was somehow still warm, but the noodle dish I ordered (drunken noodle) had congealed into a single block. The chicken that was in the noodles also had chips of bone in it. The spicy shrimp dish was decent, but the portions overall were fairly small. Try someplace else.

Will update later but I've been having a heck of a time trying to eat at this place. The website is down (looks like the domain registry expired) and the hours posted on yelp are not accurate. Looks like they are only open for dinner and closed on Monday. Will update after I try to use my amazon local deal before it expires. Wish me luck! :)
(3)Sherry J.
I ordered the delivery online and had waited for over 30 minutes. Since no one had called me or notified me of anything, I called the restaurant. However, they told me that the delivery man had not picked up my food yet!! The guys on the phone suggetsed me canceling the order, which they could have done so 30 minutes ago. Bad experience.
(1)Matt R.
I had take out from here one night. Food was terrible. Way over cooked. Also while I was waiting I could here the sounds of a microwave in the back. Not good. No kitchen should have a microwave.
(2)Denise W.
Awesome food, excellent service. Very happy with this restaurant. Coconut chicken soup and Panang Curry. The others in our group had lemon grass soup . Mussaman curry, Green curry, and Seafood Lover. All were very happy with their dishes.

So, I went to eat here in Friday night. First thing I noticed is that there were space heaters everywhere, no big usually. However, the front one was not turned on and despite having a total of 4 of them (one off), the place was freezing! I couldn't take my coat off and my boyfriend who usually runs quite hot was frigid by the end of our meal. We started our meal with some appetizers which were quite good, the tulip dumplings and the curry pockets. Both hot and tasty. We get to some of our issues by the main course. My boyfriend ordered the pineapple fried rice, however the rice was bereft of any pineapple. Another of our dining party ordered the panang curry, the sauce itself was fine, but the chicken was merely thrown in and was itself tasteless and a but rubbery. My dish was fine, I had the chu chee duck. The veggies in all the dishes were pretty sparse, I'm used to curries being loaded with veg. We also had to wait for rice for the panang curry and it was cold by time it got to the table because it was forgotten twice. This place seems to do a booming delivery/grub hub service. They had two delivery guys running, but at the same time there seemed to be some issues with puck up service and the orders being wrong. I also noted many people calling to check their orders because it had been a long time since their order was placed. I don't know if they're just not prepared for a busy Friday night? The waitress was running the phone ordering, plus waitressing, and making sure pickup was taken care of. One problem, she was very new. Even to waitressing it seemed. I have no issues when someone is new, but it seemed a bit harsh to leave someone new on a very, very busy day. Overall, alright food, maybe when it's not packed with delivery/take out orders as the restaurant itself was pretty empty, but don't really want to go back.

Sad place... I know when my wife and I moved from the city to the 'burbs we weren't going to get the quality of restaurants that we were accustomed to, but we were still hopeful that we could find a few decent places. After reading the reviews, we were excited to try this place. Maybe our high expectations set us up for disappointment, but I was anything but impressed with this restaurant. The food was of average quality at best, the decor/ambiance was atrocious, and the presentation left a lot to be desired. The only reason I gave two stars instead of one was because it seemed like a little family owned business and the server was kind. Go into it with low expectations and you might be satisfied. It resembles a lot of restaurants in the area - satisfied with being just OK. Make the effort to drive the 10 miles in to the city for a better meal.
(2)Alex M.
Pretty sure I was "yummmm"ing throughout my entire meal here. I ordered the dinner special.. you get a choice of soup, appetizer, and entree. Got the lemongrass soup (amazing!), dumplings (amazing!), and red curry (amazing!). Also got to try the tulip dumplings which were... oh, you know. Service was great.. atmosphere was cozy... I'll definitely be back!
(5)Joey M.
I was VERY excited to have Thai food since I haven't had any since moving from Chicago. I found Kaffir on Yelp when I was out and about...It had gotten great reviews. They even boast the Yelp sticker on the door :) The place is small but quaint. I was able to place my take-out order quickly I ordered the Pad Thai (12.95) and tulip dumplings (6.95). So overall I paid ~$21 for a takeout meal for myself only...Was not thrilled about that but I thought "if the food is good...it is totally worth it". Well unfortunately, I don't think the food was worth the price... The tulip dumplings were a conglomerate of what tasted like dried chopped chicken with crab meat which tasted kinda fishy The pad thai was just about average in my book. And it came with a lemon not a lime (pet peeve of mine). I think I will attempt to find another Thai restaurant before returning to this one
(3)James K.
We went here on a weekday evening for dinner and this place lived up to its high regard. A little pricey but the specials put it within reason. The vegetables are very fresh, cooked perfect, and the sauté was extremely tasty. So far the best restaurant I have come across in Havertown, hopefully more restaurants of this caliper will follow suit. I will be here on the reg.
(5)Jessica N.
Moving to Havertown from Center City means having to readjust to what is available beyond chains and Chinese food. Luckily there are places like Kaffir Thai that keep it interesting enough so that I don't have to consider Applebees Car Side to Go. My experiences here have all been take-out. I have three children. One is a baby. Two are picky. If the place is an "intimate" size, we are all better off if I take my food and go. The tulip dumplings are delicious. My husband and I keep note of whose turn it is to eat the extra. I have graduated from standard Pad Thai to more of the chicken curry dishes, and my husband sticks with the drunken noodles. We both enjoy it very much and will continue to order take out after the kids have gone to sleep.
(4)Christopher M.
Could've been an off night, but I wasn't thrilled with the food. We got delivery from GrubHub, no problem (arrived earlier than estimated). Chicken Satay was dry and seemed like it had been on the stick for a while and then deep-fried to re-heat for us. The accompanying peanut sauce was fine. The dumpling tasted good but chewy, and the sauce a bit too sweet. The best was probably the Drunken Noodles w/ Beef which was good (needed a tablespoon of water and reheat considering time in transit for delivery). The Fried Rice w/ Chicken was decent (I've had much better) but it had disturbing pockets of a fishy taste which couldn't be localized to any one ingredient. From other reviews, it sounds like they're trying. I might order again though but probably only if I'm desperate for Thai in this area.
(2)Jason B.
Food was great but the Chef did not read my instructions on my delivery order. I had written in all caps no bean sprouts in the Pad Thai and mild for the Drunken Noodles and neither were followed. Lots of bean sprouts in the Pad Thai and the Drunken Noodles were very spicy.
(3)Teresa S.
Decided to order in on Valentine's day and knowing how crazy it gets I placed my order with GrubHub at 5:30, estimated delivery for 7:00. At 7:30 when nothing had been delivered I called them and they said that one of the drivers must have it and to give them 30 minutes more. 30 minutes and no food later, I called again and they realized that it hadn't printed and they hadn't prepared the order, told me they would prepare it then and then send it out. Long story short it was finally delivery at 9:15!!! Food was fine but not spectacular especially after a 2+ hour wait
(1)Nate B.
Based on other reviews, it appears that most Main Liners just don't know good Asian (in this case Thai) food.
(2)Alli C.
Had the coconut soup and pork and bamboo dumplings- so good. I'll be making many trips in the near future just for the soup alone (amazing). My bf and I both had the pad thai and it was great. Quaint, and cozy atmosphere with hot, yummy food that helped us keep up warm and happy on a cold night. Great job Kaffir!
(5)Lindsay V.
We ordered from here the other day and I was slightly annoyed. Their dinner specials are only for a couple hours a day and only from Monday through Thursday. Delivery is also sporadic. For these reasons, I'm not sure if we'll be ordering from here again. We tried ordering from there twice and both times it was a hassle. Don't get me wrong -- service is very friendly. I just don't think the way they execute things is very smooth. The food itself was decent. I got the tulip dumplings (delicious!) and the pad thai with chicken (a bit bland, but it was okay). M got the drunken noodles with chicken and he said it was pretty good. They just really need to keep their specials consistent.

We went here for the first time tonight. At 6:45 on a Friday night only half the tables were filled. We were seated at a table for two near the rear. The curry puffs were both spicy and sweet. The panang chicken was very spicy compared to our usual Thai spot but quite good. The crispy duck pad Thai was spicy, but the duck itself was flavorless. The noodles were cut short which for me is a no-no. We ordered the mango sticky rice for dessert; the mango was a bit tired but the rice was fine. Service was polite but somewhat perfunctory. I would come back but parking is always a challenge in this neighborhood. Good meal, but not a fabulous experience.

We've gotten takeout twice now from Kaffir Thai and have been amazed both times! This time I had the Panang Curry w/ Shrimp & my wife ordered the Mussaman Curry w/ chicken. We also split an order of Chicken Satay. Everything was great. My only suggestion would be to cut the tails off the shrimp before putting them into the curry. We will definitely be back! Thanks for a wonderful meal!

I love Thai. So a week into our new life here in PA, I said...we need to find good Thai. Our local friends said, nope there's none around here. I said, well that's not what Yelp says. So we tried Kaffir. Yelpers weren't wrong. It's really good, not the best Thai I've ever had but solid. Curry is good. Hub loves the eggplant with chicken. Just the right type of 'medium' spice. Sweet tasting rice. Love the tulip dumplings...are those really Thai?? Wish they had more of a curry selection, like Pumpkin which is the bomb. Also where is the roti at these places? Eating Thai without having that sweet thin bread for sauce dipping is just not right. Bonus points for being able to get a thai iced tea to go. And that they have online ordering and their friendly staff calls you to confirm your order. This place is part of our weekly repertoire.

Location was very cold. Food was somewhat greasy ( golden rings). I was not impressed overall. Cheap night out but there are better places to eat for the price.

We've been going to Kaffir for a few months now and have not been disappointed once! The food is fresh and delicious! The wait staff are incredibly friendly - always smiling and pleasant! The food comes fast and the water is refilled often. Last night, my brother (a very picky eater) joined us for dinner there and he's never had Thai food before. He ordered the Chicken Pad Thai (my fav) but wasn't crazy about the sauce. When the owner found out it was his first time, she offered to make him a whole new dinner - free of charge! She wanted him to love Thai as much as we do! She spoke with him for a minute or two about his general food likes & dislikes and came back 5 minutes later with some pineapple rice and chicken skewers. He enjoyed it very much and we were all very impressed with that level of customer service! It's not their fault that he didn't like the Pad Thai (since I know it's amazing), but, still they went above and beyond to make him happy. That kind of service is nearly impossible to find! I have always spoken highly of Kaffir, but, they've now FAR exceeded any expectations I could have had. Give this place a try and, not only will you will NOT regret it, you'll be there several times a month!!! It's truly a local gem!

Great addition to the Havertown scene. Three visits were all good. Food and service were excellent. The owner and staff were helpful in getting the right degree of spice.

The service was great, the food was great and the people were very friendly. The prices are also very reasonable for a college student, you can get a meal for between 10-20 dollars. I had the drunken noodle dish and a Thai Iced tea, mmmm

Yum, really good. The noodles were great, pad thai. The crispy duck, I did not dig too much. Also, the service was a bit rough, they brought out the two girls orders after everyone else was almost finished. Still the food was very good.

Hands down the best Thai food I've had in years and years. Fresh, perfectly prepared dishes, not to mention the service is top notch.

Great food. The coconut soup was incredible. We really enjoyed everything and will definitely be back.

Delicious food, lovingly prepared at reasonable prices.

Awesome Thai food at all time. After all the high profile places I have been, it is nice to come down to a nice cosy & comfy place like the Kaffir. "Easy Good Food" is a new quote I have for this small wonder. Love the Tulip appetizer. Friendly service. On top of it all, they have Happy Hours Entree!!! Can't get better than that!!!!

This place has always served freshly prepared, healthy, quality Thai! I have met the owner on several occasions and she is extremely friendly! Service here has always been spot-on, and I have not once had a complaint aside from that I wish they could deliver more frequently.

I've yet to dine at this restaurant, but my Husband and I have had take out! It was great! We had the Penang Curry and I had this dish with Duck. (I forget what it was called!) 5 stars for some good, spicy Thai food in the suburbs!

Kaffir is one our staple restaurants to go to in Havertown. A great BYOB with good food. Its starting to get crowded, even on weekdays, so you might want to call ahead to save a table, or go before/after the dinner rush. Staff is very friendly. Always recommend Kaffir to others looking for a good lunch or dinner spot in Htown.

Amazing Thai food, everything I have eaten here was delicious, especially the evil jungle princess. My favorite spot to go in Havertown!
(5)Ethan T.
I only had the takeout here but it was pretty good. The pad Thai was excellent and I enjoyed the rest of the food. It is pretty expensive compared to Banana Leaf or the other Thai restaurants I've been to but it seems to be more of a Havertown business thing. Eh. What can you do.

I am not a full blown vegetarian but I do prefer vegetables most of the time. Kaffir thai has a great selection of vegetarian dishes and they serve it with great taste. Its pad thai is great. The taste is a perfect balance between sweet but flavorful. I do not know how anyone could dislike their chicken satay either. The marinated chicken is grilled to perfection and served with a great peanut sauce. This restaurant is a gem hidden in the heart of havertown. It is also absurd that anyone could see the chef smoking while cooking and "ash falling" because I know the owners very well and the chef has only smoked outside and they are HUGE on cleanliness! Maybe others have seen a ghost cooking, I can vouch that nothing of that sort of occurrence is true!

LOVED this place. It's nice to see that this part of Eagle road is getting great new businesses. I live a few blocks away so me and a friend rode our bikes over. I had the drunken noodles with chicken - everything was so fresh. Tons of fresh veggies (green beans, carrots, etc) and real chicken breast. Nothing was overcooked, the sauce was perfect and the presentation was beautiful. Love the scarves on the tables as tablecloths. Not expensive at all for the quality and portions you get. Can't wait to go back- they have a bunch of dishes you don't commonly see on a Thai restaurant's menu.

Very tasty food and reasonably priced. Drafty near door in dinner. We have gone back again and were equally pleased. In our permanent rotation now!

Please note the restaurant has changed it's name to Kaffir Thai Cusine. Same owners, same location. They have also added a very nice $8.95 lunch special with soup, appetizer and entree. Very generous portions and delicious.

Ordered take out from here last night because we felt like trying something different and were very pleased with this local treat. For under $40 the wife and I enjoyed a very satisfying meal. I just took the time to look up the actual numbers and names of the dishes we ordered so fellow yelpers can easily order the same. You are welcome. Ordered #1 Tulip Dumplings -Steamed chicken, shrimp and crab meat wrapped in a tulip shape and served with sesame sauce. Looked like they were out of a magazine picture. They were cute little delicious meat treats. #4 Crispy Rolls- Lightly marinated glass noodles and julienne vegetables, deep fried until crispy golden brown and served with sweet and sour sauce. They tasted homemade and were pretty good considering they lacked meat. #9 The Papaya Salad- Julienned green papaya, roasted ground peanut and cherry tomatoes tossed in spicy lime dressing served with grilled shrimp. Mmmmm was fresh, colorful, and tasty. #37 Pad Thai Crispy Duck. Stir-fried thin noodles topped with crispy duck with tofu, egg, bean sprouts, scallions and ground peanuts in traditional seasoning. Outstanding. The best tasting Pad Thai i've ever had. The noodles and flavor were to die for. The symphony of vegetables, noodles, sauce, and proteins was spectacular. The duck was good but not the star of the show every ingredient was a team player and they all did their job well. I can't wait to try other Pad Thai combos and ask them to make them spicy. The more i write about this place the fonder the memory. I might go again right now...

Kaffir Thai is the first place I've had Thai Food at. I absolutely LOVE EVERYTHING. From their delicious entrees of seafood, their soups, and salads. Because of this place, I can't find myself eating any other type of food. All I've been eating is Thai Food and I just can't get enough. Anybody who disagrees is crazy! Of course no business is perfect. You'll have a few from the bunch that won't like the food as much as others but that's why you should come out and try it yourself! The service is really friendly and the cook will work with you if you have any allergies to certain ingredients. They'll even make a special dish for you! I recommend coming to eat at this place. Scratch all the negative reviews

Great local Thai, extremely friendly staff and owners. Tulip dumplings are light and tasty, and their house spicy noodles with red curry was awesome.

Excellent! Food, service...all excellent! Eat in or take out....definitely eat in once to experience the ambiance and the prompt, hospitable service.

I cannot believe this place has almost 5 stars. This should have no more than 3, at best. I got their Drunken Noodle last night and it was just, "meh." The only reason it gets two stars instead of one is because one star is reserved (IMO) for places that are plain disgusting. I could've made it at home myself...and for far less than $12.95! Outrageous. My husband got the green curry which was okay. For me and my husband to order 2 vegetarian meals, it shouldn't have been that much ($26!!). I'm pretty sure the waitress charged us full price for the meat options rather than taking two seconds to think and charge us the vegetarian option price. Anyway, the food was mediocre. It wasn't as greasy as your standard Chinese take-out, but it was about as flavorful, that's for sure. The curry was overwhelmed by the coconut flavor and my drunken noodle had more spice than flavor. The vegetables in it were weird and some were not fully cooked - others were overcooked (how is that possible??). I was extremely disappointed by this place! I will not go back here again. What a waste!

This was my first time having Thai food. It was delicious! The food was very flavorful. I tried a little bit of everything. The chef/owner greeted us and was very accommodating!

I chose to have dinner here after seeing all of the positive yelp reviews, and I have to say I was a liiiittle bit disappointed, but it was still pretty good. The papaya salad does not have papaya in it like we hoped, but maybe that's normal? It's more like a cole slaw. The tulip dumplings were really good. The chicken pad thai was okay. The mango sticky rice was good, but I prefer it without sesame seeds. I don't plan on coming back here until I've exhausted all of the other thai options in the area and still haven't found anything I like that much.

My favorite lunch place! $8.95 and you get soup, appetizer, and entree. How can you possibly beat that? The owner is an incredible person - so pleasant and kind. The food is delicious and artfully prepared and presented. This restaurant is in Havertown, and sadly a lot of folks who live here are afraid to venture away from greasy cheesesteaks and pizza; hence, the huge selections of shops like these. I would encourage them to step outside their comfort zone and give authentic Thai food a chance. It's not weird, it's not Chinese food. It's just nutritious, yummy good-for-you cuisine!

Why didn't we go here sooner? Excellent food prepared to order, good service, good prices, tasteful decor. This BYOB is a nice addition to the growing restaurant scene in Havertown. Will definitely be back.
