Wow, wow, wow! If I could pick this place up and move it to VA, I'd be 400lbs. Stopped in here for a breakfast twice last week. The first time I ordered the egg sandwich with broccoli rabe and cheese. AJ suggested sharp provolone and I went with it. Delicious!! The next time I had to order the same thing. I wanted to try something different but couldn't since I'd been dreaming of that sandwich for days. The place is packed on weekends so expect to wait. But it is worth it. AJ will grab a loaf and slice the bread in front of you while you wait- yes- that fresh. There is coffee in front and lots of Italian delicacies to tempt you while you you wait, salivating, for your order.

The strip of shops on Brookline Blvd in Havertown is super convenient and the options are terrific! If you can't get street parking, there is a metered parking lot on the street. Which is great because you will want to get into Centrella's for meatballs and cutlets! They are a little on the expensive side but the meatballs and cutlets are top notch. They also have fresh bread delivered from Liscio's daily. In addition they have a full deli counter, make sandwiches to order, catering options, as well as a nice shop offering all of your Italian favorites. Heck, you can even buy a lottery ticket there. The service is very good for the most part. I find the staff pleasant and eager to assist. There was one instance where we were picking up a tray of meatballs for a party we were hosting and I grabbed an extra container of sauce. The woman behind the counter politely informed me that the tray came with plenty of sauce and I could do without it. Great to do business with honesty and integrity!

Really good Italian Deli with a full line of lunchmeat, hot sandwiches and frozen pasta entrees. I usually pick up some pasta and ready made meatballs. Loads of other stuff available and it's all quality food.

YES! Another place in Havertown to get a delicious hoagie. The Italian was as good as it gets. We also tried a chicken parm hoagie which was awesome. This is huge, bc we are VERY picky about chicken cutlets, because my mother-in-law makes the BEST. The highlight was the John's 9th Street Special. OMG. Imported capicolla, Genoa salami, extra sharp provolone, roasted peppers, imported soppresatta, prosciutto. Can you say heaven? And BTW, I didn't eat 3 hoagies....we cut them up and shared. Their website looks modern and I love the layout: centrellasdeli.com There are a lot of other sandwiches I want to try, which we will definitely be doing during football season. Way to go, Centrella's!

Great little deli/market. The deli meats/cheeses are very good. They have a good selection of quality goods. They also have a pretty good selection of frozen pastas and sauces. Although a little on the greasy side, their chicken cutlets are still pretty good. Great option for a quick sandwich.

I love to patronize local businesses and this is a great example. A family owned Italian deli. Stop in to grab one of the greatest hoagies around and just wander the store for a few minutes. I think you'll be impressed. The next time you're in grab some meatballs to go. Amazing! Don't worry about parking. There is a great cheap public lot across the street.

Whenever I am in town I cannot help but stop in for a delicious sub. The 9th street special is to die for and the to go meat balls are stocked in my freezer at all times. I highly recommend everything on the menu!!

This place is great! I had gotten a hoagie for my Husband, and he immediately asked me where it was from. Being that he's from South Philly, he knows when he's getting a good hoagie :). Oh, and they're so nice!

I love this cozy little Italian market/eatery. We stopped by on our way through and it did not disappoint. The meatball subs lived up to the hype. Loved the chewy rolls and toasted cheese on the inside. We picked up dough balls, marinara sauce, and fresh mozzarella to make pizza at home. They sliced us off fresh pepperoni shipped from Italy. My only gripe is the location! We live in Virginia and it's two hours away. Maybe they want to franchise in Arlington...

Walk in and smell the Italian. My favorite place for a hoagie and anything pasta related. A classic Italian deli. Enjoy!

Centrella's is the best. One of the few places you can still find un-enriched pasta (from Italy) in a variety of shapes, which comes out so much better. Delicious hoagies. Italian sweet. Great deals on extra sharp provolone and Reggiano too. They are worth the trip.

Originally from Southwest Philadelphia, where they slaughtered, plucked, prepared, seasoned, AND, Roasted Fresh Chickens. You could smell Centrella's, up and down Woodland Avenue. Chickens their main business. Kids would sneak a look at the slitting of the, still, live, chicken throats; chased out of the store with a decapitated head or two thrown their way; it was a Rite of Passing. That was over 50 years ago. Times, the neighborhood, and the way of doing business changed. Now, more deli, more grocery, with packaged goods to sell, Chicken Cages gone, the smell of chickens before and after slaughter not missed, no chicken heads? Always looking for Old World Pasta, Sandwiches with that something special, San Maranzano Tomatoes, Roast Beef w/au jus, Old Italian Deli Fare, all here; Testa's Bakery ( a few doors away) the reason why i was in the neighborhood, when the store's name caught me by surprise. I found out this was "THE" Southwest Philly Centrella's, I almost cried! I have to come back and i did, for awhile. It was closer than the Italian Market for some hard to get things that i did not want to surf the net for. After a while..... i noticed missing Centrella faces and quality of service, after reading a few reviews; i know why. Old Style, Italian Style, Ethnic Style Deli's are going by the way side, is this Centrella's, too? It is going in that direction. If they don't realize their faults and correct them soon...... As the smell of Centrella's chickens waiting to be slaughtered disappeared, so will Centrella's A pickle barrel does not a Deli make!

John and crew make excellent hoagies and homemade red sauces (gravies). And one of the last places still offering true Philly pretzels. A bit pricy, but quality is worth it.

This is one of the standby places in havertown and the last of a dying breed. A true Italian deli. John Centrella and his wife own and operate a wonderful Italian market in havertown right on brookline blvd. This place has everything you could want, cookies, chickens, pastas, REAL Stromboli, roast beef, meatballs, hoagies, steaks etc. The food here is amazing and it is again the real deal, the ONE drawback to this whole thing....the price. They are pricey but the argument could be made you get what you pay for? This place has some of the best hoagies in the area, the chickens are great, the meatballs and roast beef are not to be missed. Again in a world of walmarts and large retailers its nice to go and have the little guy help you.

If you know/care about good quality hoagies and Italian sandwiches Centrella's makes the best in the entire area and better than 90% of places in the city as well. Aside from great sandwiches they sell great Italian cold cuts and antipasti. Also have a nice selection of reasonably priced prepared Italian-American dishes and grocery items. Granted most of the grocery items you can find at the supermarket but considering that their prices are reasonable I don't mind shopping here for things I could buy at the market. The people who work here are very friendly and helpful as well. There's a few table to sit and eat as well. Try their linguine with clam sauce, it's amazing.
