It's been a year since I've posted a review about Lochel's and I have to say they are truly amazing! The staff is always sweet to my daughter and they always call her by her first name which I love! Lochel's did my wedding cake back in September and it was amazingly good and beautiful. We did a three tier cake with buttercream icing, marble cake, and a chocolate fudge filling. Just this past week, my mom got me a birthday cake chocolate cake and chocolate icing. It was great! We love Lochel's and would definitely recommend it for your cake or cookie needs! Anything we've had has been awesome.

My family and I began purchasing baked goods from Lochel's 10 years ago and now it's our go to spot, no turning back. We have had beautiful birthday cakes, shower cakes, and more from Lochel's. Their butter cakes are the best, hands down. The cream filled powdered donuts are so soft and delicious. The pound cake is phenomenal, especially with raspberry. Yumm! The "icing on the cake" (pun intended) is the beautiful decorating that both decorators do. They are out of this world with their piping and fondant work. Awesome! Highly recommend Lochel's!

My toddler has serious issues with gluten so my birthday cake was gluten free this year. I could not tell it was gluten free. It just tasted like rich, moist, chocolate cake. It was phenomenal! I wish I could give more than 5 stars. This is my new go-to bakery!

This is a follow up even though it is a bit late. We called or stopped in after each issue that was listed in the original review. If the employees don't inform you when someone complains then it is not our problem. You hired them and they represent you. By the time you reached out, there was no reason for us to continue the dialogue. We hope that at this point you have resolved the issues you were having with your employees and they keep you better informed when customers are unhappy.

My husband and I were very impressed by the wedding cake that Lochel's Bakery created for us. Let me tell you (and I am not exaggerating when I say this): it was the best wedding cake I have ever tasted! Lochel's offers a lot of cake and icing flavor options. We chose a different cake flavor for each tier (pumpkin, chocolate chip, and chocolate). The bakery also did a phenomenal job with the wedding cake design. We will definitely return to Lochel's to get some cookies for Easter.

Our wedding reception was at the Centre Bridge Inn in New Hope and the cake was included with our reception site. We weren't sure what to expect, but when we got to see the cake we were blown away! We had found a picture online of a cake we liked, but we weren't sure they'd be able to replicate it. It looked EXACTLY like the picture and it was awesome! We had a buttercream cake with gold trim. It tasted just as good as it looked! We can't wait till our wedding anniversary to eat the rest! Thank you Lochel's!

This is just for customer service* I had called the bakery up this morning to see about ordering a specialty birthday cake for this Saturday. I chose this bakery due to its good yelp reviews and because the website gallery showed images of cakes that were unique and professionally decorated. I was looking for something more then just a pretty cake w/ flowers and a happy birthday message. When I spoke w/ a representative and I explained what I was looking for all she asked about was size, flavor and the message. Nothing about customization w/ design or color or special flavors. I said I was looking for something more elaborate- w/ a bird theme( I was thinking beautiful fondant song birds, botanicals images). She said " well we could draw a picture of a bird or print a photo onto the cake". With that response all I could imagine was some cheep looking cake no more special in appearance then a grocery store bakery. And since I would have a chance to preview the design I quickly hung up and called the Town Crier bakery in peddlers village and they were excited to suggest design ideas and describe what it would like to me over the phone. So while I can't say the cake will taste better, the Town Crier gets my positive yelp review and $$$$ because they actually seemed interested in working with me.

Lochel's did an absolutely amazing job on my wedding cake. From the initial tasting to the actual product delivery on my wedding day, everything was flawless. The chocolate chip cake is so good, and the frosting tasted great. I loved the beautiful, simple design Lochel's created for us. They also made a groom's cake for my husband, and it could not have been better! It was a Florida Gators theme, and I have no idea how they perfectly made the Gator design onto a cake. So cool! We've been going to Lochel's now for about five years. We're big fans of their fresh doughnuts and their yummy cupcakes. The best thing about Lochel's is that they don't merely keep the same flavors and items day-in/day-out. They change things up from season to season and it keeps us on our toes and it keeps our bellies happy. We've had custom cakes and cupcakes made here as well and they always deliver such great items that make all our party guests, friends and family members go "Wow!" Presently, they have two items in their stunning flavor rotation that we're all addicted to: Butter Cake Danish and Canoli Doughnuts. Good Lord...you have to drop everything now and go try one (or both) of these because they are amazing, melt-in-your-mouth treats that'll get you hooked, too. How unique and tasty! The customer service is great as well. Staff is helpful, eager to listen to your ideas and opinions, and ready to serve up the sugary gems that line the shelves. We're always greeted with a smile and we always feel welcome and at home when we go. The owners are also in there a lot and interact with customers...which is fantastic because we kind of feel like we're part of the family and not merely CUSTOMERS. P.S. I'm a baker myself and they are where I go when I don't have time or energy to make my own stuff for special occasions and/or holidays. Yep...they're that good that another baker will hit 'em up.

Our son bought the apple and walnut pie here and brought it to thanksgiving dinner. Can't say enough about how great it was. Absolutely fabulous. From the crust to the filling everything was delicious. Didn't know apple pie could be this good. Definitely recommend.

These guys know frosting. We've been here several times for cupcakes and they are out of this world. The rest of my crew is in love with the chocolate-cake, chocolate icing, but I'm a fan of the chocolate cake, white icing. The cakes are perfectly baked and the icing is like biting into a little slice of heaven. Light, fluffy, and delicious. Absolutely worth a go!

I've never actually been here. But people pick stuff up and bring it in to work. Cakes are really good. Donuts are AMAAAZING!!! They are so light and airy, with just the right amount of crispiness at the edges, not greasy at all. The cream filled are superb as are the cinnamon roll donuts.

Get fresh with me! Lochel's is a family owned bakery that has been around for years, they also have a cafe right across the street. We happened to stop by on the day they had just reopened after being closed for awhile, after the holidays. To that, I would assume freshly baked goods, which one would expect on a daily basis, but especially on a day after they had been closed for awhile. They do have a lot to choose from, cupcakes galore, cookies, candies, cakes, pies, Danish and much more. I'll admit that I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but hubs sure does enjoy it and he was pleased. I, on the other hand thought the Danish was chintzy on the fillings and even though buttery pastry, it was just too dry for me. The carrot cake was okay, but once again, way too dry and too much ginger? We ordered sticky buns with walnuts and raisins ( for me ) and some without, for Michael. They were loaded with cinnamon and okay, Fritz's are better, but even Fritz's does not compare to the bakery back home that I grew up with. Next time I am in Hatboro, I may check out some of their cupcakes, but I do believe I will pass on what I have tried thus far. They're just okay.

Lochel's makes the most delicious sweets and treats in town! The 16" tall beehive shaped lemon poundcake they made for my daughter's first birthday party was incredible in shape, decoration, and flavor! This is the only bakery I frequent.

I want to give a shout out to Kathleen Lochel from Lochel's Baker. I went to pick up the Chocolate Ganache Cake in Hatboro and the line was almost out the door. They do quite a business and while I was there, I picked up Christmas morning pastries and Christmas Dinner Petit fours. I'm going back in the morning for another party tomorrow evening. My guests "raved" about the Chocolate Ganache Cake with the chocolate custard inside.

Ohhh! Gooey Philadelpia Butter Cake. The is one of the last bakeries that off traditional Butter Cake. The top is slightly crunchy, with a gooey center. Yes it is aweful for you. I get maybe once a year, but Wow is it good!

Unbelieveable!!!! My wife and I moved to Hatboro over the summer and this place is DANGEROUS!!! All homemade pastries, cakes, breads, cupcakes, and cookies. For my wife's birthday party I got six different half dozen cupcakes and they were a huge success at the party. Some family took them home back to Ohio for their spouses! Definitely try the cupcakes and the cinnamon bread! They also have a restaurant across the street by the same name that takes that cinnamon bread and makes it into a mean French toast! Must stop in and try when you're near the area!

This is a tiny old-fashioned bakery that looks at first glance like it cropped up around World War II and hasn't changed all that much since then. However, if you look at the pastries, you'll find a number of not-so-old-fashioned offerings. One item here that just blew me away was a small pastry square with layers of pastry dough, filled with a sweet cheese filling and guava paste. Very inexpensive, and absolutely otherworldly! I bought two more right there! The place also sells donuts, cupcakes, and all sorts of cookies. Everything I've ever tried from here is very high-quality, but the guava cheese pastries are one of the best things I've ever tried anywhere. I'd recommend checking this place out if you're nearby. It's worlds ahead of any of the mass-produced baked goods you will find at any chain. My only complaint is that I wish there were more seating: this is mostly just a storefront, there's a very small table with three seats, and that's it.

My wedding cake came from Lochel's bakery. It had lemon curd in between the layers and butter-cream icing with a basket-weave design. It was simple yet divine. Looking forward to ordering a smaller cake for our first anniversary as the top was too good to freeze for an entire year.

We walked across the street to follow up our breakfast at Lochel's with dessert from Lochel's. I try and fit as much sugar into my day as possible ... We got some sort of chocolate peanut butter bar. Good. God. The peanut part was really creamy and peanut butter-y. The chocolate frosting was rich and slathered on with a heavy hand. Frosting should always be applied in this manner. Loved the look of their cupcakes too ... perhaps when I go back to Lochel's to try the grilled cheese we'll make the trek across the street again to sample a cupcake. Here's hoping ...

I randomly stopped by Lochel's to satisfy a sweet tooth craving and was unexpectedly surprised by how disappointed I was with my goodies. The bakery wasn't busy at all and the workers seemed to have cared less that we were waiting. Not good. The items looked pretty good. They seemed fresh with a very homemade look to them, but looks can be deceiving. We ordered a black and white and a slice of banana cake with cream cheese frosting. The latter was good - the cake was moist and the icing was just right. However, that black and white was absolutely disappointing. The cake was too dry and the icing was too thin. I admit I am completely biased when it comes to these "cookies." If you ever had the most glorious pleasure of tasting a black and white from Cheryl Ann's up in Boston, all others will fail - miserably. Prices were decent. I doubt I'd come back again. Given the abundant choices of other bakeries in the area, I imagine I can get better tasting goodies with better service.

There aren't many neighborhood bakery choices around anymore, so when you find one that's as good as Lochel's, you cherish it. Love their donuts and blueberry scones. They have the best carrot cake and strawberry shortcake around. Love the fact they have extended hours, as I can stop by on my way home from the office and pick up treats for my sweeties if I want to. Lochel's -- don't ever leave me!
