About Taco Bell
Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.
The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.
Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

My coworkers and I frequent here for lunch! The restaurant is small with limited seating, but a nice outdoor area to eat in good weather. My favorite are the quesadillas. Always crisp with just the right amount of fillings. The staff is always pleasant and we have never had a long wait time, even during the busy lunch hours!

I'm not a flowery writer like some of the people on Yelp, but I can honestly say the tacos and other foods here are some of the best I have ever had! The staff is always nice and pleasant. The restaurant is very clean and there is always festive music playing. They will even change the TV channel if they know you want to watch something. I live I the other side of the county and it is well worth the drive. Taco King rules all!

I don't write reviews. This needs to be said. The cook has an attitude problem. When I told him I didn't ask for tomatoes on my taco he said to me, "what do you want me to do about it?" He needs to check his attitude at the door. Picked the tomatoes off with a fork and the manager didn't even offer to comp my tacos. Never eating here again and I'm telling anyone I know to never eat here either.
(1)Daniel G.
If you know what to order, the food here is very good. For example, upon my last visit I ordered 1 of every taco. They were good, but I now know which specific tacos are the absolute best (Shrimp and Tilapia). Additionally, I have tried their pizza which turned out to be disappointing. Sample the menu and find what you like.

Was looking for a quick bite that is not Chipotle (always my fall back), and I stumble upon this place. Honestly, kinda wish I had just fallen back to my comfort zone in this one. This place is not bad, but it's not great either. There is no specialty to this shop, but they get the job done giving the lunch break time constraint. But honestly, even Chipotle got more options to go with their tacos (not that I get that whenever I go, always a burrito bowl guy).
(2)David J.
We have eaten at Taco King many times and have never been disappointed in food taste or portion size. Sometimes the food may be warm rather than hot but it still tastes great. We recommend the steak quesadillas and the fish tacos. The wings are pretty good as well.
(4)Sarah G.
I've been working down the street from Taco King for two years now and for some reason I never tried it until today... which is insanity because I love Mexican food. I grabbed take-out during my lunch break and Boss Mike and Michael were super friendly. The chicken tacos were PHENOMENAL!! They were served with fresh limes, delicious salsa verde, some kind of a chipotle sauce, goat cheese (YES!) and of course all the other classic taco toppings. Thumbs up Taco King... I'll be back... hasta luego.
(4)Cecelia K.
Great place to eat authentic tacos. I am Mexican and from California and I am very particular with my Mexican food. They have great tacos, I would say that's their specialty! You can't beat the price and the cooks/ owners are both from Mexico! Go try this place you will enjoy it!
(5)LaDonna U.
Truly delicious tacos and salsas. The Mexican pizza was surprisingly good too. I actually live the rice and beans the most, but we haven't tried everything yet :)
(4)Finn A.
Great quesadillas, tacos and pizza . If there is a down side to this one , it is very cold in the winter as the heat is not set to the comfort of the guests .
(4)Erik G.
above average tacos by central pennsylvania standards. i recommend the al pastor, which is fried up kinda crispy. the chorizo is great too. their crazy nachos--i think they're the chips al mexicano or something like that--they're worth every penny.
(4)Joe P.
Being from TX and So. Cal. I have a lot of experience with MX food. This place is far from fancy but they do serve the best tacos in the area. I usually get carne asada. They are served Baja style, soft corn tortillas, meat, onions, cilantro and a lime. The meat is usually tender and tasty. Note the 4 stars are based on this being located in Harrisburg. If they were in TX or CA I would only give them 2 stars. No chips and salsa are served which is a key part of the MX experience.
(4)Jeff K.
I don't live far from Taco King and have gone numerous times for both lunch and dinner. It's nice to have an authentic taqueria practically in my back yard! The tacos, taco salad, quesadillas, burritos and fajitas are all very good. There are a lot of choices for meat fillings, including chicken, beef, pork and shrimp. For the more adventurous, they also have tongue, which I haven't tried yet, but plan to. I especially like the carne asada and the al pastor pork. There is a a nice selection of beverages in the cooler, including several Latin American fruit sodas and other Mexican drinks, as well as more standard American fare. Decor is -- well, there isn't any. That's not really the fault of the owners, as I doubt anyone could do better with this hole-in-the-wall. There were previously several other food establishments at this location. None were any nicer inside than Taco King. The good food will make you forget the plain surroundings, or you can just order for take out. The owners are from Mexico City and are very accommodating and helpful.
(4)Dan R.
Decent mexican dood in the heart of colonial park. If youve been to brother joe's pizza you'll recognize the staff there. Fair selection of menu items as well as a small amount of dry mexican goods.
(4)Miriah T.
I came for the tacos. I was craving simple tacos, and stumbled on this place. They are just the way I like them 2 corn tortillas, grilled meat, onion and cilantro, with a squeeze of lime. Taco King definitely satisfied that craving. The al pastor was different and my boyfriend and I both like it quite a bit. The specials are also great! I got lamb tacos the other day and they might be the best tacos I have had. Definitely worth the trip and very reasonably priced.
(4)D P.
Great traditional Mexican fare. Take out and delivery. You can even grab a few groceries you can't get at Giant or Karns.
(5)Shannon M.
My husband and I tried this place because of the other Yelp reviews shortly after relocating to Harrisburg, PA. Being originally from San Diego and knowing "real" Mexican food, we we longing for some carne asada tacos after living in the South for several years and being deprived of such. Well let me tell you, we found them at Taco King! The place is small, tables are plastic and decor is typical of Mexican taquerias in Southern Cali. We were home! We ordered carne asada tacos, a fish taco and a chicken taco. Home runs, all 3. Corn tortillas, well seasoned carne and chicken, cilantro and onion, just the way they are supposed to be! Husband enjoyed the fish taco as well. We will definitely return.
(4)Kristina G.
I've been dying to try this place and I got to today. It was okay. Nothing to really report either way. The menu is small which is fine. They have various tacos, quesadillas, Mexican pizzas, and a few other Mexican specialities. The atmosphere is like a Mexican pizza shop. I got a carne Asada taco and a chicken taco. It was served with scallions and lime on 2 small corn tortillas. The chicken and the beef were pretty much the same meat they use down the road at their other store, brother joes. It didn't have any seasoning. But wasn't bad. I also got chips and salsa which was fresh but not remarkable. The prices are pretty reasonable. Overall I'd return but I don't think it's something I'm gonna crave.
(3)J R.
This place is pretty good. It has a base menu of most mexican staples and not really a taco only joint. Seems to be a bit more authentic than many other places and definitely not a taco bell type place. Everything was made to order. Also has great hot wings and very reasonable prices. Do not expect a menu with hundreds of items. I believe their menu is on facebook. Started up two brothers who have many many years experience in the restaurant business. Very friendly service and good food. Its in the old Derf's Pizza place across from the Uhaul center on 22.
(5)Greg G.
Authentic Mexican, good price, and real fast if you want to take to go! Great little place and right off the highway.
(5)Betsy H.
We had tacos and quesadillas - both very good! Very reasonably priced. Really nice employees. Of course you aren't going for the atmosphere, but when you need a Mexican fix this is an authentic place to go to!
(4)Brad W.
Was very surprised! Kind of one of those hole-in-the-wall places but the Taco's were outstanding. Chorizo Nachos were excellent too. Service was good and prices reasonable. Dining room is fairly small, but there is a small outdoor sitting area. This is pretty authentic Mexican food (at least for the area).
(4)Paul K.
Great food! There were 7 of us, (none of us were hungry). Each of us wanted more because it was so good. Just had tacos, al pastor, beef, pork, and fish - all were awesome! Did have to wait a little for food (they were hammered due to recent win for best tacos in area). But well worth the wait. Owners were super nice! Will definitely be going back! Will be supporting this local business from now on.
(5)Al P.
I've only been in once. I need another couple of visits to really form an opinion. I'll be back. Liked what I had. Would like a ice in a glass for the soda. I don't like the bottle thing.
(4)Small Town G.
Had the carnita, al pastor, and chicken tacos. Served with cilantro and onion. Hot sauce is also available. No salsa appears to be available. Nice friendly service. Also some Mexican grocery items and bakery goods are available as well. Stopped in a second time for the torta (Mexican sandwich). Wasn't impressed with the quantity for the price which was over $7 with tax. Meat was not plentiful nor flavorful, sauce was not very good. It just tasted too much like a regular sub! Have to knock off a star for this.

I was excited to see an authentic taqueria had opened on Jonestown Rd. I have been traveling to lower Derry St for the last several years to get good tacos and Mexican specialties. Located in the former Derf's pizzeria, this casual restaurant is great for a delicious, inexpensive lunch or dinner. I have been here several times and tried a good variety of items on the menu. The tacos of course are what everyone wants to know about. Served on 2 grilled corn tortillas, they offer steak, pork, chorizo, al pastor, tongue, shrimp and chicken. Priced from $1.75-$1.99 they are quite a tasty bargain. Served traditionally with onions, cilantro and lime, or with cheese, lettuce, tomato and sour cream for only $.25 more. The steak and al pastor are fantastic, grilled to order on a flat top, they come out crisp and hot. I love the combination of pork and bits of pineapple. They offer a green chile and tomatilla sauce that is spicy and delicious, and a red chile sauce that is a bit milder. Freshly fried and crisp tortilla chips and salsa or a thin guacamole are $2.99, $.25 more for the guacamole. A generous basket perfect for 1 person. The burritos are large and come stuffed with your choice of all the meats available for tacos, plus beans and rice, onions and cilantro. A perfect meal at $6.75, it was large but not overwhelming. The meats that are offered are delicious, you can taste the time and care that was taken to cook them. Quesadillas and fresh made tamales round out the menu. They also offer traditional soups like posole, (large corn hominy) and menudo (cow tripe). I have not had either so I can not comment. All in all it is a great treat to have authentic Mexican food in the suburbs of Harrisburg.
