Wow......you'd think I would learn. The food was less than fair and the service couldn't suck more even if they lowered the scale of suck. If I could add negative stars. you bet your ass I would. I could have helped Sally Struthers feed 23 and a half African kids and felt better about myself. So I was wrong. It isn't only servers that are 3 days older than Christ that suck. Even the yoga pants wearing, airhead blondes with many decades of life ahead of them have been pulled into this swirl of shitty service.

Excellent breakfast food served. This place gets real busy during breakfast time and can get packed. We usually go for brunch b'coz the quantity and their portion size are so enormous that it is not humanly possible to have lunch after their breakfast. Love their coffee too. They serve great cheesecake and pastries too. This is located on Route 22 in Harrisburg near Super 8 hotel.

3 out of 4 were pretty happy with their meals and the 4th finished but wasn't anything to write home about. Looks better inside than out. Service was fine. We'd go back. 4 of us with drinks cost $44 without tip. It's definitely a solid 3.

I stopped here w/ my family on a road trip. It was relatively easy access from I-81. Service was poor - no place settings, had to go track down my waitress more than once, etc. The food was mediocre. The interior was dim and depressing.

I have to give this place the benefit of the doubt. Most every time I drive by it is always full. Yes, their parking lot is a small, but I'm pretty sure the volume speaks for itself. To be blunt: its a diner: cheaply priced homestyle meals. Every now and then they throw out a special that is a success, but most times its routine dishes like meatloaf, pot pie or croquettes. Their biggest strength is their breakfast. One of the best places in the area (with the exception of some of the buffets and brunches that have just recently surfaced). Still, I have yet to find better home fries! Typically I don't go to the same place frequently unless I am really impressed. The catch is that my dad practically lives here. When he isn't at home he's usually out grabbing a bite and so I have tried most everything they have to offer. Some of the dishes I recommend most are the Smothered Chicken, Chicken Corn Pie, Liver and Onions (order with extra crispy home fries!), and the Beef Heart over filling. These really stood out as winners in my book. Don't be afraid to try the white board specials either. If my dad were writing this he would recommend the meatloaf and beef tips over noodles, but we both agree on the Chicken Corn Pie. Whatever you get, just make sure it isn't the Chicken Cordon Bleu. They haven't quite mastered that one yet. The setting is quaint, but the radio is often a little too loud. Service is good and 9 times out of 10 you'll be satisfied you came. For my dad that number is more 11, but don't take my word for it.

Myself and a few coworkers ordered food from here today. I got a steak, with two onion rings, steak sauce, mashed potatoes with gravy and applesauce. My steak, which I ordered medium well, was paper thin and overdone. The mashed potatoes were bland and only tasted good with the minimal amount of old looking gravy on top. The flavor of the steak was good, but there was a lot of gristle and fat in it, which was not enjoyable. The onion rings were tiny, however the applesauce with cinnamon was the best part of my meal. For 15.99 I would never eat here again. Overpriced for the lack of quality and heart put into the food. My coworkers got breakfast meals and enjoyed their food much more than I did. Overall I'd say keep looking, this restaurant isn't making any best restaurant lists.

First time in, knew it was a risk based on previous reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised that my experience was on par with a good diner experience. Granted, I stopped in on an early (7am) weekday winter morning and so it wasn't busy. Maybe that's key. Anyhow, the service was friendly and fast. I had the spinach, egg, and feta breakfast wrap with a side of home fries loaded with onions. It was awesome. I'll be back.

Last week upon leaving the dentist, I had a numb lip, but I was starving. I decided to try somewhere new. I pass the Skyline Restaurant at least once a week driving down Route 22. Upon entering the lobby, a long line of senior citizens were waiting to check out. I gathered it either must be a favorite place for seniors or perhaps they had some sort of gathering there for lunch. I waited about 3 minutes before the cashier asked if I wanted to be seated and told me to just take a menu and seat myself. Being that I wanted mushy food and the other fact that my husband forbids me to make meatloaf at home, I again, chose the open faced meatloaf sandwich. This came on white bread with gravy and mashed potatoes also with gravy. One side order was included from a selection of vegetables or a cup of the soup of the day, which I chose. It was potatoe soup and it was delicious. It was very thick and flavorfull. I should have just gotten a whole bowl and some sort of deli sandwich. The open faced meatloaf was two large slices of meatloaf. The mashed potatoes were very creamy and the gravy was good, not a bitter beef gravy. I also got a Pepsi. The price of the open faced sandwich was approx. 7.25 ( I lost my notes). The soda was about $1.49. They offer about 7 beers and 7 liquor selections. A display case in the lobby showcases a wide variety of very appealing cakes and pies. I was so full I did not even dare ask about desert. The dining room has both tables of 4 and booths. The rear section has an area which appeared to hold a large table capable of seating about 12 to 15 people. The atmosphere was friendly but quiet. My waitress was friendly but appeared a bit rushed. It was 1:00 and they appeared to have just gotten over a lunch rush. I was very pleased with this restaurant and would frequent it again.

The skyline Diner is on the westbound side of rt 22 in harrisburg. I have had breakfast there a few times, its not bad. they had decent seafood and a few greek items. good for a quick lunch, prices are fare, not too bad, they have lots of desserts and cakes and take home items. this place has been remodeled after a fire in 2005, and now looks better than ever. accepts cash and credit, lots of parking.

Breakfast was pretty good. Just the toast was cold & not buttered, weird. We got some butter, but never saw the waitress again until she dropped off the check. The waitress had zero personality & never came back to the table to fill coffee or drinks. It is amazing how that can affect an experience.

I came here for breakfast today. I have been here before the remodel and don't remember liking or hating it. Its nice and clean inside and it looks like a full menu for lunch and dinner that I may attempt sometime. So one thing is I noticed there is not a children's menu for breakfast. The server told me I could order ala carte for my daughter. No biggie. But then I wanted to order her like 3 silver dollar pancakes and they didn't have that option so she got a full order. The pancakes came out cold and by the taste of them and their perfect circle shape I would almost bet that they were frozen pancakes. ICK. So I had the breakfast special. The home fries were crispy but terribly bland and greasy. No amount of salt or ketchup could save them. And the bacon, chewy and tasted like they had been frozen or kept in a fridge that needed cleaning. It was AWFUL. Sigh. I need to find a good breakfast place around here. This is so disappointing. I will go back to try lunch or dinner...maybe that's what they're good for. Never again for breakfast. What a waste.

I went there for the first time and I think it will be my last. It looked like an Italian restaurant but it more or less catered for the older generation. The server did not know her information (and she is in food service I wounder) and it took her long to soon stuff even how are food was. The food was OK but the sauce for a meatball sub was terrible. I was ready to get out of there when I at that sub. I don't know if there was a manger they did not say how was the food which to me it seems like they do not want to change. If you like medocer food by all means go but if you still have taste buds I would recommend Aarooga's instead.

Your basic diner. Cheap, friendly, and the food was OK. If I were driving through Pennsylvania and wanted lunch, I might go here again.

My wife and I headed over to Skyline yesterday for lunch. It's been a while since we last ate here. Food was good--I had the Texas burger and my wife had chile and a salad. We also had a piece of Boston creme pie which was delicious. Service is good and the interior looks very nice.

The hubby and i discovered the Skyline Family Restaurant tonight. We were just driving looking for somewhere different to eat and settled on here, hoping the food would be ok. it was more than ok! The decor and ambiance was great, except for the ac that was on and making me cold. It was very friendly. I had the Hot Turkey open faced sandwich and the hubby had the meatloaf. Both were excellent. The slices of turkey on my sandwich were not the razor thin pieces found elsewhere, they were nice and thick! The mashed potatoes were a perfect match for it! They tasted so much like home cooking! The applesauce was to die for! I then had a slice of the chocolate pie that was out of this world! We both had coffee to drink and it was a nice touch that they actually brought a carafe of coffee and left it at the table so you could refill it yourself! The service was good too. Our server was very nice, friendly, and efficient. We definitely plan on making a return trip!
