Good spot for sushi in Harrisburg. I always start with their wonton miso soup. Sashimi was fresh and black dragon roll was tasty. Too much sauce & mayo with special rolls. Service is uneven. Prices a tad on the high side.

The best sushi in town! Great staff, cosy little restaurant.

Simple, yet outstanding lunch experience. Sushi is outstanding, service is as well. Food is served quickly and tastefully. I see this as the best sushi location in Harrisburg. Prices are right. Two sushi rolls--salmon and spicy tuna, side salad, and miso soup...for $7.95. My choice for sushi in Harrisburg.

I work in the area and eat at Miso at least 3 times a week. If that doesn't tell you how good it is and how great the staff is I don't know what will!!!

Tried Miso Sushi and Grill for my first time last night, just got take-away. Really good sushi! Living in a much larger city for the past 11 years, I didn't expect to find such good sushi here in Harrisburg. But the quality was great, the fish and rolls I got were fresh, well prepared, and delicious. As I got take-away, I can't comment on the service, but the atmosphere was very clean, calm, and nice and I would love to eat here next time. Service was on the slow side for me, but it was Valentines night so I'll give it another shot. Great spot, I will definitely be back!

Not impressed. I went to Miso Sushi based on the great reviews. Sushi rice tasted "powdery". The miso soup tasted watered down. The pieces of seafood on my sushi were skimpy. Maybe my taste buds are different because I've eaten what I consider better tasting sushi in Hawaii.

Miso is a welcome addition to the Capitol area sushi scene. They have the freshest fish on the East Shore and quite possibly the best menu. The only other place that rivals Miso is Sapporo East on the Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg, but that's probably because they're owned by the same person. Both menus are much the same and very reasonably priced. Miso has a smaller selection of items but the quality of ingredients makes up for it. I have not had a bad piece of sushi or sashimi there yet. The service is always, and I mean always--no matter how busy or what time of day it is--quick and attentive. If you go there enough, they'll remember you by name, and not just, "Hey, how's it going, April?" but "How was your exam last week?" Howard is especially awesome. The kitchen is open to modifications, and always seem to send out complimentary items. A few times I've even gotten 10% off the bill. All of the rolls I've tried are good and sized generously. The sashimi is always absolutely fresh and the uni (sea urchin)--one of my favorites--is always super super fresh. There's something for everyone too. If you don't like raw stuff, they have a fair share of cooked items from rolls to teriyaki, but I would suggest going elsewhere if sushi in general isn't your thing. The lunch combos are a steal. If I could afford to go here every week I could. The ONLY problem I have with the place is that their parking lot is very small. They have about four spaces up front and a few more in the back, but thankfully the repair shop next door has a few open spots whenever I go because for dinner on a weekend the place is packed and the repair shop is closed by then.

We visited this restaurant during a recent visit to Hershey Park. Fantastic restaurant! The decor is simple, modern, and elegant. Lighting was a bit bright, but we were sitting right under a metallic piece of art that was illuminated by track lights. Sushi is fresh and delicious, and the rolls are beautifully constructed. Wasabi and soy sauce are both made in house. The teriyaki is light and flavorful, served on a simmering pewter plate. Friendly, attentive service, and prices that are more than fair. 4 adults dined until we could eat no more, and our total bill was $83 before tip. Note: No alcohol license, but you are welcome to BYOB (fortunately we happened to have a few bottles of wine in the car with us, they provided wine glasses and there was no corking charge) If you are looking for Japanese/sushi, you would be remiss to dine elsewhere! This place is a 'can't miss'.

Best sushi place in Harrisburg. Friendly service - they pay attention to details and always greet you with a smile. Thank goodness they're here...this Californian was getting desperate! Now if we could just get rid of these arcane PA liquor laws so they could serve saki and beer.

I recently moved to Florida, but before my move, I made it a point to eat at Miso at least once a week. Awesome sushi, great staff and a hidden little gem of a restoran (which it will not be for long). The sushi is fresh and comparable to better sushi places in Baltimore, to draw a parallel, and the presentation is that of upscale dining. My favorite is the chirashi (hot bowl), which has sashimi over rice, which is always top notch. For good sushi in a relaxed atmosphere, there is simply no better place to go in the area. Sapporo East is good, but is always packed, lacking a more quiet, private atmosphere. Mikado is also good, I have never been to Tokyo Diner, so I cannot speak to that, but Miso is the real deal. Highly suggested.

The food was great and staff is friendly however a bit hot as I think they were working on the airconditioner that day. Would go again in a heart beat. The volcano roll was excellent!!

This is my go-to place in the area for sushi. Now, I'll admit that I'm not very adventurous with sushi--I like Roch & Roll, Tropical Inferna, Mango Shrimp and a handful of others. For me, this place is fine. If you're a sushi snob...well, that's what the larger cities are for. Considering it's Central PA, then you take what you can get.

We have nothing but the highest praise for everyone. The service is top-shelf. Sushimi lovers rejoice-excellent, The Miso Roll and Tiger Roll are superb! The standard faire of appetizers are second-to-none! My wife and I highly recommend Miso!

The best avocado roll I have ever had in my entire life. There was so much avocado, and it was so perfectly ripe

I felt a little like I was a task that needed checked off the list..... everyone was just in a hurry. They were not rude, but not overly friendly, just focused. Tako salad very good, the seafood soup was super good, the roll was good enough to return and try another. I asked for one thing at a time and not to bring the next course until I was completely finished, but the message apparently never made it to the kitchen. The price was reasonable and I will be back.

I have been coming to Miso for almost 2 years. This is for me the best place in Harrisburg for Sushi. Their ambience is nice and cozy. There may be a wait if you go during peak hours so plan ahead. For appetizers, I will recommend the oven baked mussels. They use a special spicy sauce which is my favorite. The real stars on the menu are the chef's specialty rolls. Try the Chesapeake, Rainbow, Volcano, Angel hair or Caribbean. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any roll that you order.

  • Rachel F.

The food was delicious! I came here with my brother for lunch today. It was relatively busy, but we were seated right away. We started with the gyoza as an appetizer. It included six dumplings and was very tasty. For our sushi we decided to order the angel hair roll, the volcano roll, and the spicy California roll. The food came quickly and we enjoyed all three rolls. My favorite was the volcano roll. The salmon in it tasted extremely fresh. Miso sushi provides an enjoyable, casual atmosphere to enjoy sushi with friends and family. I can't wait to try more of their rolls.

The best, freshest sushi around in the area! Owned by the same family that runs Sapporo East on the west shore, I was thrilled when they opened a sushi bar in the Harrisburg area. I've since moved about 30 minutes outside the area, but still stop in about once a week for sushi. Their lunch specials can't be beat and come with complimentary miso soup and salad with ginger dressing. Parking is a bit cramped and you might have to wait for a seat if it's prime dinner time, but we've never waited more than 15 minutes. Staff is very friendly and sometimes provides samples of new rolls to try on the house! If it's your first time trying sushi they are more than happy to recommend some options anyone would enjoy. There are also a few tempura and hibachi options for those who might not be in a sushi mood. Shrimp tempura and vegetable tempura are two of my personal favorites.

I'm torn between giving either a one star or a two star review. I giving it a two star rating only because their prices are cheap. Only having one night in Harrisburg left me struggling to find a great place for dinner. I wasn't expecting 5 star Michelin quality but I was expecting better. Once I decided I was in the mood for sushi I took to YELP to help find my spot. I was surprised that I couldn't find any reviews for any of the sushi places in the area done by Elite Yelpers. Not that Elite reviews are the end all be all for Yelp reviews but typically these are people who dine out often/are foodies. Regardless, I saw these place had high reviews and took the plunge. The service was good but bordering on hovering. Within being sat at the sushi counter I was approached by three different waiters all within two minutes asking for my order. I had barely cracked up on the menu at that point. Sitting at the counter I noticed that some of the fish in the window looked really dry so I avoided those rolls. I ended up getting the Black Dragon, Volcano roll and the Angel Hair Roll. The only one that was even ok was the Black Dragon. I was starving by the time I got there and couldn't even eat the Angel Hair roll. Their house sauce just tasted rancid and I ended up not even eating that one. The Volcano roll's spicy crab was barely any better. I'm not sure what was in the spicy crab (maybe the spicy house sauce) but it had an odd flavor. All in all, I wish I would have skipped this place and hit up McDonald's instead.

We ordered what we thought was very little, but left with boxes of food. They even gave us a complimentary Spring Roll. Everything was good and the prices were reasonable. Notably, unlike most places, the water here was crisp and refreshing. I recommend this place to anyone who likes this type of cuisine. You'll be more than satisfied (except perhaps about the parking).

First time eating here today. First impressions are that this is a Sushi restaurant for people who do not know what good sushi looks or tastes like. Limited selection of fish. The fish was ok Presentation was not great. One of my rolls (Rainbow roll) was falling apart and was intended to have fish on the entire outside but pieces were missing fish. My hand roll was over spiced and lacking any fish flavor. Service was excellent. I'll give it another try, but it will be awhile and under slight protest. You only get one chance at a first impression.

So far, this is the best sushi I have had in Pennsylvania! Actually, the only ones I've had who give them a run for the money are in Framingham, Massachusetts and a couple of places I went to in Tokyo, Japan. The sushi is expertly made with the freshest and highest quality ingredients. The staff are all very attentive and friendly. One of the best kept secrets is the lunch listing on the back panel of the menu. There is a great selection, and the prices are very affordable for a lunch out! During peak times (lunch anyway) crowds fill the place (and the parking spots). I recommend trying to hit either a little early or a little late to miss the lunch crowd. Parking: the easiest spots are behind the building, those in the front are kind of difficult to pull out of into busy Jonestown Road. Resist the temptation to park in the vast parking lot at the tire place next door... They fend off trespassers vigorously See the photos of three meals from our visit today...

Stopped in at 8:15 pm on a Saturday. The parking lot was packed; a good sign indeed! We took open seats at the sushi bar. The servers were very attentive and multiple servers asked if we had any questions or needed anything. We ordered the angel hair roll and the Sapporo roll. Both were very good. Sapporo roll was fresh, light, and summery. The angel hair had a wonderful and flavorful sauce/glaze on it. We enjoyed both. The chef gave us a complimentary seaweed salad appetizer that was delicious. It had a really nice little spicy bite to it. Nice touch! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Miso if you are looking for good sushi at an incredibly reasonable price!

Spilt 5 specialty rolls for dinner. Miso, Black Sand, Orange Flamingo, Dragon and Caribbean. All were fresh, rolls were big. The Miso roll was my favorite. Fast service, good food, will make this a regular stop when in the area.

The thing I love about sushi is that you have to shove your mouth full of food and it's completely acceptable. And that's not a problem here because the sushi is top notch, possibly the best in the Harrisburg area. I've compared seaweed salad and this place has my favorite. My daughter and I sat at the sushi bar and were treated to half a flamingo role on the house. It was delicious. The angel hair roll is amazing, as well as the Chessapeake. Very friendly and accommodating staff.

Great place we visit often for lunch. Quick service and delicious food keep us coming back. House rolls and their seafood fried rice are the best!

If there is a better food value in Harrisburg, I don't know of it. After a hot bowl, gyoza and two rolls got cheesecake on the house! We Miso!

I've been here several times and the quality of food and service is always great. This last visit, though, we had 2 of the 4 rolls fall apart on us. My husband got the rock n roll- crab, calamari, and salmon wrapped and tempura fried. That was a delicious roll! He also got the sunrise roll- eel, shrimp, cucumber, avocado and egg. It was a yummy combination, but it was wrapped too loosely and fell apart--making it impossible to eat with chopsticks. I got the Caribbean roll- coconut shrimp and mango topped with spicy crab and avocado. Again, this was delicious, but the top & bottom separated with almost every bite. I had better luck with the Chesapeake roll- real crab, shrimp tempura with cucumber and avocado--fabulous! One thing I really like about this place is they specify on the menu which rolls have "crab stick" and which have real crab. The edamame here is perfect and there is salt on most of the beans. As a byob place, this is a nice choice for dining. It can be loud at times because it is a small place.

I waited too long to try Miso Sushi but I'm glad that I finally did! The tuna sushi was delicious, very fresh, as was the salmon and eel. Deluxe California roll was also tasty...along with the coconut shrimp, gyoza dumplings and (thankfully) the miso soup! Girlfriend ordered chicken teriyaki which was a huge portion and also quite yummy, the onions being a nice unexpected bonus. All in all quite the tasty meal and if you've been waiting to give them a try what better time than now?

I was just out with my Beautiful Wife at Miso's for our Anniversary make up date and it was GREAT! We had the Rock & Roll, and the Miso Roll and they were both Delicious. Our appetizers were The Seared Tuna Special, Gyoza and my wife had the Shrimp Wonton Soup. It was all FANTABULOUS! If you haven't been to Miso's its a Must. Good Eat'n's!

Some of the best sushi I've ever had (not just in the Harrisburg area). Anything with with their spicy tuna is amazing. Good lunch specials and rolls are a good size. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Glad I live so close to a place this good. I know people drive far out of their to come here and enjoy their great food.

I do love miso and I have come many many times in the past two years. Disclaimer though, I did get food poisoning a little over a year ago and it's highly likely it was from here. I mean...it was. But the fact that I keep coming back is a great sign. Fresh rolls. Good prices. Spicy tuna is solid. Miso roll is great. There's no bad roll. Seafood fried rice is huge! Seaweed salad is also really good. The service is always friendly and I like the bright decor.

This is really a busy place and it takes time to get a seat. The service is reasonably good but nothing exceptional. the staff is just so busy catering to the number of people at the place that there is hardly any time for a focus on good service. Now onto the food and here is where they shine. There are a lot of dishes related to sushi and other items which you won't find in other places in this area. There is a lot of flavor in their dishes which makes this my favorite sushi place especially when doing take out. Everything from the simple California roll to more elaborate dishes like Angel Hair Roll are not just rolled in without focusing on the flavor. the People who make the sushi know what they are doing and it shows when you eat. If anyone wants to get eat a variety of sushi dishes which are flavorful and don't mind waiting a little bit for seating then this is the place for you. It is in a busy area of Harrisburg as well so the parking is on the back which new customer's will not always be able to pick up.

When introduced to sushi a few years back, I wish I would have experienced it at Miso. Maybe my new love of sushi would have been sparked much earlier. I have yet to eat anything I haven't absolutely loved at Miso. I am a huge fan of Dragon rolls and Miso, by far, has the best one I have eaten at any sushi bar in Harrisburg. Everything from a simple California Roll to their inventive Caribbean Roll is fresh and always delicious. I typically get sushi to go since they are conveniently located close to my place of employment and I have never had to wait longer than my quoted time. However, they do get super busy for lunch and I have seen patrons waiting for tables when I am picking up my order. I, personally, have never had to wait for a table. As far as my dine-in experiences go, I have always had fantastic service. The servers are always attentive and are knowledgeable in regards to their menu. There have been several occasions where I wanted to alter a roll in some way, such as add cucumber or something, and they have always accommodated me. They're awesome! The atmosphere is very comfortable and the decor is simple, yet classy. It's a great place for a quick lunch date or a dinner for two and they are BYOB! I have yet to bring wine with me, but I don't believe they have a corkage fee. I would urge any sushi lover in the greater Harrisburg area try out Miso!

  • Kat C.

This is the best sushi around here. When my friends and I want sushi or if I have friends visiting from out of town who want sushi, we always come here. Staff is friendly and decent for the most part. The rolls are good. This place will satisfy your sushi craving. BYOB.

What Miso lacks in freshness, it makes up for with its large selection of specialty rolls :) Good sauces. But otherwise, nothing to write home about. Service is friendly and efficient. Seating is nice and comfy.

I've eaten at Miso several times since my original posting on 11/11/2014 and feel it's important to give Miso yet ANOTHER five-star rating. The food and service at Miso is just so superb, my wife and I keep returning a couple times a month and enjoy ourselves thoroughly. In fact, it has become our reward for a hard workweek. These guys go above-and-beyond the call of duty for their customers. Example #1: A few weeks ago, one of the staff brought us a complimentary house special roll since we're such loyal customers. Example #2: A few days before Christmas, I arrived on a Saturday to buy my wife a gift card, but as soon as I entered Miso, I realized they weren't open for business yet. I apologized and said I could wait in my car until opening time. The manager said, "If you're here, we're open. What can I do for you?" That is customer service par excellence. I calculated their present 4-star Yelp rating and it's inaccurate. It should be 4.5 stars. Of the last 35 reviews, 19 of them were 5 stars, 15 were 4 stars, and only ONE was 3-star. If you do the math, that makes it 4.51 stars. But in my book... Five stars all the way.

Portions are giant. Sushi is meant to be eaten mostly in one bite. Hope you have a big mouth. Edamame is perfectly salted. Waiter is very nice. I just noticed dirty dishes are not bused after they are done. Even when they came by to ask if we want anything else, they walk away without taking dirty plates away. Very strange. Place is airy and appears clean. Since there is no rating system in this town - not sure how well they meet grade. Come and try !

This is the pinnacle to what i expected in a sushi house. I used to work in Harrisburg and every Friday that i got paid i would make it a point to go here after work. The food is incredible never had a bad experience here, Hell they got me to actually enjoy miso soup and i HATE tofu the ginger salad was good and i would definitely recommend any of their sushi rolls. They get an A+ in my book.

  • Eric P.

The sushi was super fresh and really good, I got a few of the chef's special rolls and I wasn't disappointed. The service was super fast and extremely friendly. The rolls are a good size, not to small for the price and not overly huge, a perfect size for one person. This is a great place to stop in for a quick lunch.

I've been here once. I was on a sushi crave, and the place I normally go to was closed today. I was recommended here, and that's why I went. This restaurant looks a whole lot bigger from the outside than it really is. I had take-out. Staff is so friendly here! I had great service for the 15 minutes I waited. They had a decent variety of rolls and food options. I wasn't impressed with anything though, nothing stuck out to me as to why I definitely HAD to come here. They did seem just only slightly more expensive than my normal sushi bar. I did wish they would notify you that they put Caviar on all their rolls. Be aware. So, I had to suck it up and eat it because I had gotten 3 rolls.

My son, who is a picky eater and a chef, and I ordered a few rolls to go. After eating my son said "that was incredible!" and I agree with him. It's now 4 hours later and I am still very full. The best part is that I still have the wonderful flavors on my tongue. It's hard to get fresh sushi being this far from an ocean. Most of the sushi I've had in Harrisburg has been mediocre at best. Miso's sushi is excellent! It's fresh and flavorful. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

  • Quintin P.

A big round of applause to Miso's for being one of the best in Harrisburg for sushi. Hip and fun groups are attracted to this joint. Families are welcome as well, my family loved it here! People are friendly and service is on point. Top marks folks!

  • Jacqueline B.

House rolls are excellent. HUGE fishy centers, minimal rice. My only complaint would be that sometimes they are not cold enough. Know what I mean? I know they are not supposed to be COLD, but I think the fresh steamed rice just makes them a little too warm. I'm not a huge fan of specialty or cooked/fried rolls so I cant comment on those. I just love the simplicity of tuna rolls, salmon rolls. I did get takeout from here once and the price on their online menu does NOT reflect price increases over time. We ordered like 7 rolls and there was quite a price difference. I said something to the hostess but she just looked at me confused. Awesome food tho!!

I had a hard time deciding between 3 and 4 stars. The one waiter that was in the restaurant who seated us and checked up on us once was very kind and courteous. However, we had a different waitress for most of our meal. When we asked a simple question about the menu she looked at us as if we had 5 heads (and no, it wasn't a language issue). It took her 10 minutes before we even got menus and were able to order drinks (and it was lunch time - barely busy at all). Then she came back once during the course of our meal (no drinks left) to ask if we wanted our bill and still didn't offer any more drinks. We paid with cash and didn't need any money back and we waited 15 minutes for her to pick it up before we just started to leave. That's when she came by and gave us a suspicious look as if she thought we were leaving without paying and I said "the money is on the table". I just felt that the service was really sub-par... but then again, it was just this particular waitress who seemed QUITE grumpy! Hmm.. BUT the food was really great. Loved my sushi and my miso soup was delicious. We had a great meal otherwise. I will be back, but I sure hope I don't have that waitress again!

This restaurant is small, so if you are bringing a group, you need to call ahead. Sushi is fresh, service is good, but get there early if you go on the weekend, they can get busy with so few tables. Good prices, and BYOB, which is great if you like to pick your favorite sake to bring with you. (Like we do!). This is probably my favorite sushi restaurant in the Harrisburg area.

  • RJ V.

Fun place to bring a group of friends. Busy on the weekends so call ahead, come early or be prepared to wait a few minutes- most likely you won't wait long though. Everything we ordered was good. Service was quick. BYOB was nice. The reason this place gets a 4th star is they make you feel special and treat you to some freebies. I guess if you order a bunch they hook it up but even if it's just two of you they throw in something to top it off. Very nice touch, great customer service!

  • Jeff K.

I was here once and will go back again. I just don't think it is 5 star worthy. The service was good so let me start there. Everyone was attentive and did a great job. The food I felt was good, especially their seaweed salad. The rolls were really good, but they did not hold together well. That was a real bummer. Not sure if it was the kind I ordered or what. I will be giving them another chance so I will see how it goes and will post a follow-up review. I do like this place and they have the potential to be 5 stars if the rolls can stay together on my next visit.

I decided to come here based on the reviews and seeing it while driving by once or twice. We were greeted at the door and seated immediately. The salad and soup course came quickly and I had a nice tall glass of cold green tea which was freshly brewed. We had the spider appetizer which was tempura soft shell crab. The sushi was all very pleasing to the eye and tasted great. They used fresh real crab meat in the rolls and the urchin was the best I have ever had - it tasted like the ocean very rich and delectable. I also had a Chesapeake and volcano special rolls and my wife had the tiger roll and Caribbean roll everything was great and decently priced the only thing was the roll was not that tight so I had a couple fall apart on the way to my mouth -D'oh!

By far the best sushi in Harrisburg! Large variety of sushi to pick from and reasonably priced. Great service and nice (small) atmosphere. Also it is BYOB!

  • Sean Michael K.

The sushi and sashimi were fantastic, Prices reasonable for the quality and location. However, the service was sub-par (waiter) to downright rude ("hostess"). The hostess needs to find another job or find some emotional intelligence. The waiter was friendly, yet inattentive. Japanese green tea served in glass coffee mugs with tea bags.... Really???? If you're going to go "greasy spoon" with your green tea, then at least make it free with the meal. (this is the cultural equivence to serving instant coffee in packets and charging for "Starbucks") We brought our own wine, and then had to ask for it back twice after waiting 20 mins for the hostess to return with it. It was finally brought with the cork broken and mangled. No apology was offered or suggested (there was almost an "attitude" given that we *politely* asked for it back twice. Bottom line, there needs to be better training/hiring of customer service staff. I wasn't given the impression that I was being served and appreciated as a paying customer. I should have been. I'd try other places before returning to this one. 4 stars for food, 1 star for service. Overall I gave a 3 star rating.

  • Jojo G.

Not impressed. I ordered the ell rolls and Tokyo rolls. They are kind of flavorless, but not fishy. As an Asian gal, I personally don't like things too salty. But, seriously, their rolls are loose and flavorless. Compared to many other sushi place, the size of rolls are kind of bigger. However, holy crap, I feel not full at all after finishing two rolls . Turn out I figure out maybe cuz their rolls are not salty enough and really low calories. Overall, it is just an okay place. 3-4 stars.

I used Yelp to find a sushi restaurant as it's been quite some time since I've been. The previous reviewers all raved about Miso, and the restaurant definitely lived up to the hype. 'The decor is clean - no chirping wall clocks. There is a large flatscreen television over the chef, but I honestly don't remember so much as hearing it. I went with a few old standbys as well as trying the crispy crab spring rolls (which were phenomenal). Parking was interesting, and at first it looked like the restaurant would be too crowded to hold my little party of two. But they got us in and it didn't feel as though we were on top of anyone else. One of the definite selling points about Miso is that if you are taking things home, they will put them into plastic containers for you. Many of the other places in the area will just hand you a styrofoam stack. Another selling point is the fact that the sushi is just as amazing the next morning for breakfast!

Just had a private party for my beautiful girlfriend here on Saturday. Howard, the manager, did a wonderful job with making all of us happy. Great food. Great atmosphere. Excellent job, guys. Premier sushi spot in the area. Thank you.

Went for lunch today and had a great experience. Welcoming service and sushi is wonderful. Had 3 rolls and the cucumber salad and allow were delicious. Highly recommend

Good food and byob can't beat that. We got our sushi fast and was somewhat busy on a week night. Would defiantly go again.

Best sushi in the colonial park/lower Paxton area. Pleasant atmosphere in a converted old house = unique. Good service. I've eaten here half a dozen times before and carried out twice. I've never been unhappy with my food. Portions are satisfying. I love the wide variety of rolls offered and their soups and appetizers are very good. Try the gyoza. Yum yum!

We went here last week. We stopped in about 10 minutes before closing time and had totally prepared to take our food to go, but the host was so accommodating, he told us to stay and eat. I was pleasantly surprised by the selection and quality at Miso!! The salmon was amazing!! If we're ever in the area again we will return!

First time trying it with my family over the weekend. It was ok, the rolls were very neatly prepared but just the flavors weren't there. Maybe try them again next time.

Pieces of fish were larger than typical. Rice was nice. BYOB means no sake. Service good. Pleasant but not exceptional in any way.

Is ok but Sakana is way better. Rolls here are very loose and fall apart. They use a ground tuna in their spicy tuna rolls and not a chunk of tuna.

There are an awful lot of reviews for this little spot in such a short period time! I had to try it for myself, and I'll agree with most others this is a great place for sushi! I thought the pricing was average for the area, the servings were large, and the rolls were delicious! I tried their eel roll, volcano, and TNT. All were fresh and tasty, although some did come apart a little- but minor detail. The inside of the place is bright and fun, and the staff is extremely friendly. They even gave us a free roll and 10% off our check for no reason, just looking to please I guess as they get the place up and going. They succeeded!

Although we arrived fairly late, around 8:15 pm, there was only one table available. That is a good sign at a sushi restaurant. We were seated promptly and given our menus right away. I ordered one of the special appetizers listed on the chalk board: sea bass with avocado, cucumber and yuzu sauce. It was delicious. I followed that with a dragon roll and four individual kinds of sushi, for which I got two pieces each. The dragon roll came with a complimentary piece of shrimp sushi -- a welcome addition. Of the individual kinds of sushi, the white tuna and salmon were excellent, the eel good, but the squid disappointed. At its best, squid has a squeaky, chewy texture and a subtle sweetness. At Miso, it had the requisite chewy texture, but lacked any discernible flavor. My friend, who is not a fan of raw fish, had seafood fried rice, which she enjoyed very much. I tried it and also found it to be good. It was a bit underseasoned for my taste, but that was easily rectified with some soy sauce. Compared to sushi restaurants in large cities, there is certainly less to choose from. In particular, I missed seeing ikura (salmon roe) and mackerel among the individual sushi selections, and there could have been a greater variety of specialty rolls. Still, I think that most people will find things that they like here. A couple of previous reviewers remarked that the prices are high. I didn't find this to be true. The prices are lower than in many other Japanese restaurants, including some other ones in central PA. Service was fine. It was not exceptional, but wait staff (not always the same person) did check on us a couple of times during the meal, and we did not have to wait long to pay when we were done.

I have driven past this place a hundred times and never gave it a second thought. After friends suggested we go there for lunch, I left wondering why hadn't I been there sooner! I am a sushi fan, however, I usually stick to the basic rolls. I got the deluxe California roll (made with real crab instead of the stick) and the salmon avocado roll. Both were absolutely fresh and delicious. The waitress brought a house roll to the table, complements of the chef, and that was even more delicious than the two rolls I ordered! It had so much flavor. The staff was very friendly and very attentive. The only thing that keeps me from giving this place 5 stars is that my fiance's food didn't arrive until after the rest of the group had finished eating, and we had to remind the waitress, or else I don't think it ever would have come. All in all, it was a great experience and I will be going back to Miso!

  • Alex S.

If I could give this place a half star I would! The sushi fell apart...even the basic California rolls fell apart..The sauce is overly mayonnaised...Tasted bad... I bought 3 rolls for $26, which I really don't care about the price... But this place was awful!! Wasabi Bistro in Hershey is better than Miso...and Wasabi is just so so.. DO NOT EAT HERE!!! I ended up wasting $26 and threw my sushi in the trash... Now I'm hungry and I wasted $26.

Very well done sushi bar and restaurant. I had the sushi/sashimi special which was excellent. Their miso soup and salad come with the specials and were excellent. Service was very good. This is a BYOB facility.

Was in Harrisburg for a night and wanted to get some sushi. Expected something decent, but nothing as good as Miso. Blew away my expectations. The sushi is very original and has a lot of flavor. Get something with the house sauce. It looks like tomato sauce, but it's the spicy sushi sauce that's awesome. Having experienced hundreds of different sushi places, I can say this probably ranks in my top 5.

Really dismal. Bad service and mediocre to bad food. I ordered sushi rolls and the shrimp tempura dinner (because you can't get it as an appetizer, only as a dinner with a side of plain rice and a horrible salad with a giant blob of dressing on plain, sad-looking iceburg lettuce). The sushi was mediocre. The "tempura" shrimp was clearly just pre-made breaded shrimp out of the freezer section. The veggies seemed like they may have been actually battered there (as you are supposed to do with all tempura) but they were very greasy. It takes a lot to make me not want to eat tempura broccoli and squash, but this place did it. The service was terrible. The waitress spent most of her night ignoring me. I waited so long for my bill I debated just walking out. When the sushi makers got my order wrong (my spicy california rolls were not spicy) they said nothing, just slammed down about a half pound bowl of spicy mayo before I could even mention the mistake. Uh, no? This is not how you correct a problem like that. The ambiance is pure strip mall. If you want passable sushi rolls and are in the neighborhood, I say go for it.Keep expectations low and you'll be fine. But this place is clearly not the four star hometown miracle other reviewers say it is. Be warned.

This is a real nice sushi place. I had their shrimp tempura appetizer and liked it very much. It actually tastes much better than the more expensive one I got from Ann Arbor.

When traveling for work a good meal often can be the highlight of your day and this place sure was. After reading reviews on yelp I was sure to bookmark this place and gave it a try. I enjoyed their sashimi dinner along with the dragon roll (spicy tuna covered with eel). Everything tased extremely fresh and was very satisfying. I requested that the roll be made extra spicy and they didn't disappoint. They are byob so if you desire some sake or beer bring your own. For anyone traveling to the Harrisburg area and wanting some sushi this place is a safe bet.

Miso is so-so. First, I don't like to eat with the server hovering over me waiting to clear the table or worse yet... taking my plate away without asking me. Grrrrrr. I have only had sushi there and it is really just so-so. They make a lot of sushi with sauces over it. I've been eating sushi for decades and I have never seen that? Sushi is pretty tasteless. People rave about this place. Maybe they aren't used to good sushi. Not far is M Sushi and their sushi is perfect. I'll only go back if my group of friends insist. Yuck.

Got a hair in my food here. A big curly one. To top that off they posted two charges to my bank account. I would give this place zero stars but that is not an option.

My husband and best friend both adore the sushi here. They both rave about the freshness of the rolls. My husband likes to stop and get sushi to go occassionally. I'm not a sushi fan, but have really enjoyed their Jumbo Shrimp fried rice and chicken teriyaki. I love sitting in the big front window and watching the cars go by on Rt. 22. The staff was very accommodating as my husband likes his rolls a certain way. And they were great with refills on drinks - always important! I'm sure we will continue to visit both to dine in and pick up for take out.

Being from NY, did not expect anything special but OMG I was blown away. At least as good as any usual NY sushi bar! Definitely the best sushi I've found this side of the Delaware water gap! Beware though its BYOB so come "prepared" :)

As a lover of Sushi I tried this place, excited to have another sushi restaurant in the Harrisburg area. I travel for work extensively and eat sushi regularly throughout the US and I was hoping that we finally had a top-notch sushi joint around here...I WAS WRONG! We ordered take out and had the: - Pink Flamingo, the tuna tasted spoiled and overly fishy; - The Seared Tuna Roll, which was also very old and fishy tasting; - The Volcano Roll, had a taste of ammonia - which is a tell-tale sign of crab that has been sitting around WAY TOO long... - we also ordered a side of vegetable fried rice for $5, which was OK but IMHO over-priced for about a 1 cup serving. Needless to say I am writing this with, lets just say, an upset stomach...

First time at Miso was a great experience. Small but cute/trendy little place. It was busy but we were sat right away, service was great. The rolls were phenomenal. Obviously very fresh fish/veggies with some unique touches and savory sauces drizzled overtop.... mmm I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.... We ordered several "house rolls" ...from the top of my head I can remember the 'volcano', 'angel hair', and 'tnt', and all were superb. The menu has a lot of yummy sounding rolls to choose from...... Coming from sushi addicts- this is for sure the best sushi in the harrisburg area.... So glad we discovered it, will going back soon! (as far as i know there aren't any hibatchi tables, however we saw several entrees go by and they looked amazing too)

My husband and I went there for lunch shortly after they opened in January and we were totally blown away by how good it was. The interior of the place is on the small side but they make up for that with great service and amazing taste.

Superb sushi for anywhere, not just Harrisburg. Nowhere in the area comes close to the quality of food here. The house rolls are great and make sure to check out the specials board. Can get very busy on Friday and Saturday, so go early and BYOB. Ambience and service are great too.

Just went here with 20 of my closest friends for a sushi meetup, they were great with our large group even though the place is not large, staff was wonderful, very friendly, they even gave us some complementary rolls to try, Sushi was very good, nice size and nice price and everyone was happy with the service and food I shared the sushi deluxe plate, each was so big you had to take it in 2 bites, nice selection on the plate as well $16.95 For a funky roll try the Orange Flamingo roll $9.95, spicy and tasty! Central PA Sushi Meetup approved!

Food was fresh and that's the best thing I can say about it. 5 servers who couldn't give a crap about the only 2 people in the restaurant. We watched them hang out and chat while we had to ask for basic items like plates, straws, water, ice for our wine bottle. Also our roll was missing ingredients that we had to ask for that ss well. Our appetizer came out with our entree. They only checked on us when they wanted to give us the bill. We watched the sushi chefs play games on their phones and the staff stand around talk instead of serving us and making the dishes correctly, thats just plain BAD. We were so disappointed and we will not be going back.

This is really good sushi. The inside decor is fresh and inviting. The staff is also very nice. I sat at the sushi bar and got a look at the fish that was in the display window. It looked very fresh. I also got to check out the other people's food being made because I was at the bar-- everything looked really tasty Besides fresh ingredients, the secret to this great sushi is that they use warm rice. Most places use cold rice but warm rice contrasted with chilled fish compliments each other beautifully. It was quite a treat. The table over was raving about the ice cream but I was too stuffed, maybe next time. Update: Have been back numerous times since my initial review and I am bumping them up to 5 stars. Service is really great and the owner is really friendly too. The sushi chefs are very talented and they give complimentary rolls out all the time. Tony's Money Saving Tip: Best time to go is lunch just because of the lunch specials from 11:30am-2:30pm Monday thru Saturday. This is where you get the best bang for the buck and leave with a full stomach and full wallet. The specials also come with soup and salad. I try eating here less than once a week but I really can't help myself!

Last night was my first time at Miso. I am in a sushi meet up group, and some folks were raving about it, so of course I had to check it out!!! The location is mildly challenging to those who might not be familiar with the Colonial Park area of Harrisburg. It is in a house that has hosted several other businesses over the years... a bridal shop, Aztec ('99 location) and a carpeting/flooring store. None of that is evident now. Anyway... I digress. It is near Taco Bell, and if you have to turn left the best strategy is to go past (since you cannot turn left there) and turn at the light where the Metro bank is, turn into the Gilligan's lot, pass through it, Verizon, down past Taco Bell and turn right. Sounds complicated... it is not. There are about 4 spaces in front of the building, and a rather interesting (read... small, broken up, etc.) lot out back with a rear entrance as well. I was greeted warmly, and seated immediately. It is a small place, but they do well with the space they have both within the house and in a porch area that is glassed in. The menu has a nice variety, and I ordered the pink flamingo roll and the hot sushi bowl (appetizer size). The portions are HUGE, and the price is average for a roll. The rolls were constructed well, and the sauces were tasty, and the fish fresh. I recommend the place highly! I think I have a new favorite... Service was good, and my dining partner's rolls were also tasty, hung together well and I plan on trying new rolls my next visit. The decor is nice, and well executed for such a small place. If you have not tried it yet.... please do. If your experience is anything like the one I had last night, you will not be disappointed.

Good dinner here. Volcano roll was excellent, crab cake appetizer excellent - salmon melts in your mouth. Pink flamingo roll was good. Could have been spicier. My son had the shrimp tempura dinner which was just average. Good service, courteous and helpful staff. Nice decor with clean, modern bathrooms. Park in back and come in thru back door. Very reasonable with total bill of $57.00. Recommended. BYOB.

We tried Miso the other night with friends. I am a sushi novice so my husband I ordered the California roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, and the Tuna and Cream Cheese roll. We also got the Seafood wonton soup. The restaurant is small, but the service is excellent and no one seemed to be waiting too long for a table. The Seafood wonton soup took longer than the sushi. the Shrimp Tempura roll and California roll was very good; the Tuna roll my husband said was excellent. We also had Tempura ice cream for dessert which was yummy. The parking is limited, so I recommend carpooling if you are going with others. Update- I have come to this restaurant several more times and it is wonderful! Best sushi in the area. The only complaint is the small parking lot! My favorite is now the Angel Hair roll!

We visited Miso the other day and thought it was very delicious, I'm gonna give it 4 stars. They serve mostly (75% of the menu) Sushi, Sashimi and a few dishes like chicken hibachi, steak hibachi and seafood fried rice. Prices ranged from like 8 dollars to 39.95 for the sushi boat for two. I enjoyed the sushi, it's on par with their Sapporo East location. The service was great, both of our waitresses were super nice and they took the time to make sure we were OK, plus they even played with our small children. We tried the baked crab roll, 9 dollars, pretty decent. Will be back again. BYOB.

Gotta up this to 5 stars. Food still very good and while it is not the cheapest place around, it is reasonable and you get a lot of food. The staff has to be the friendliest around. They make you like a valued customer. Between the food and very friendly servers this is a 5 star place. Give them a try...

    (5)
  • David R.

Yep, I'm all on board! This place has excellent sushi based on my first few orders. The rolls I ordered during lunchtime were huge (could barely finish 2 rolls), the ones during dinner were normal sized. The sushi sampler ($16.95) was delicious, im going back for some sashimi next time. There is about 5 parking spots behind the restaurant in you like more private parking. Additionally, that side street leads out to Devonshire Road incase you need to travel East on 22.

Best Sushi in Town....We always come here and this place is always packed but we never waited too long for our table to be ready... Friendliest Staff and great service..reasonably priced...They always give us complimentary rolls which are all so good...I used to hate sushi but Miso made me craved for more....I highly recommend this place....

What a great little place! We were extremely impressed with our food, but like others have said, the service is a bit lacking. We had three servers throughout our meal, which was fine, but we prefer some continuity. Get the Maryland Spring Rolls - very good (not spicy). I had the Pink Flamingo roll (mildly spicy, very good!), and my husband had the Chicken Teriyaki. We also were treated to some salmon/cucumber rolls on the house! We'll definitely be returning!

Absolutely the best place in Harrisburg for Japanese cuisine! Attentive staff, clean restaurant and fresh food. I love, love, love the Angelhair Roll and the Rainbow Dragon. And you can't go wrong with a Deluxe California Roll (with real crab meat). Parking is limited, dining room is small and road is narrow -- you have to time your visit just right. The first few times that I visited, the waitress brought me a complimentary roll -- a great way to market their unique menu items and keep me coming back. My friends don't like sushi but love the teriyaki chicken and steak. Note: Miso does not do hibachi at your table. I hope (and expect from their growing popularity) that Miso will relocate to a larger building. Don't miss out on this excellent sushi spot!

Miso makes delicious sushi and reliably tasty Japanese dishes like teriyaki, noodles, and fried rice. I keep hoping that maybe they'll add more down-home Japanese cooking to expand their menu. Service is friendly and quick, and the atmosphere is pretty hip without being pretentious. We'll be back.

Best sushi place in Pennsylvania hands down. Me and my best friend are regulars and I love the Caribbean roll. Servers are very nice and actually attend the table regularly (unlike other chinese/japanese restaurants) cool atmosphere as well.

Passing through Harrisburg and wanted some sushi. There are quite a few choices in this part of town. We are glad we chose Miso! It was busy Friday night but we didn't have to wait more than a few minutes. Service was excellent and sushi and sashimi were even better. We wil be back again. Highly recommend.

This is my new favorite lunch spot for sushi. My only complaint might possibly be a lack of parking but that shouldn't hurt my rating on how good the food is. It's a very warm and comforting atmosphere. Very clean and no trace of "Fish Smell." The sushi came out quick which is very important on a lunch hour and was excellent! I will typically judge a place on their tuna as that is the most commonly ordered raw rolls people might order and Miso did not disappoint. Also if you are thinking about appetizers. To the vegans out there, their vegetable rolls are also great and very diverse.

I haven't been to all of sushi restaurants in the Harrisburg area but can say without a doubt that Miso is the best of the ones I've visited. I have not had a single bad item here and always look forward to their Pink Flamingo and Orange Flamingo rolls. Contrary to some of the other reviews, we have never had bad service. Along with the rolls above our other favorites are the Maryland Spring Roll and Gyoza.

Miso is the best sushi place in harrisburg hands down. Clean, modern, appealing atmosphere, great service, and very friendly staff. I have been here half a dozen times and loved it every time. We have been brought complimentary pieces of rolls made by the chef on several occasions, and every roll I have had here has been superb. Their Angel Hair roll is my favorite, but I have enjoyed every on I have tried. They all have delicious, fresh, vibrant tastes and colors, you can taste the freshness of the fish, and the spice and tang of their amazing sauces. Just to add to the list, they are BYOB! A MUST when you are looking for good sushi.

Rumor is Miso and Saporro East share the same owners. Tasty, fresh sushi and really excellent service. We had a group of 10 for a birthday and the entire wait staff was extremely accommodating. My only complaint is the rolls are not tightly wrapped, which is my only complaint about Saporro. Comfortable atmosphere.

We have been meaning to go here for quite some time now, and are sad to say we didn't go earlier. So far this is THE best sushi we have had in Central PA. I tend to get the "Sushi Deluxe" plate whenever I go to a Sushi bar, and so far all places have been several pieces of two to three types with a tuna roll. Luckily this place had all sorts on the "deluxe" plate along with a choice of a tune or California roll. The only reason I don't give it a five is the strange smell coming from the bathroom by the back entrance when we came in. We will be going again.

    (4)
  • Herb R.

Love this place! Probably the freshest sushi I've had in a long time, and the best I've had in the area. They'll make rolls that aren't on the menu, such as dynamite. I had 2 of the rolls come apart, but they were still good. I'll be back soon.

What you may not know is that Misu Sushi and Grill is a "clone" of Sapporo East restaurant in Mechanicsburg. Same owners, virtually the same menu, and same high quality service without high traffic of Mechanicsburg location, which is considered by many the best Sushi place in Harrisburg area. The owner of Sapporo East Henry is still spending most of his time in Misu, rolling sushi at the sushi bar, and saying "hi" to all new and old customers. We are happy we don't have to drive to Mechanicsburg, and have Misu practically next door. Great idea Henry, you are the best!

So...my boyfriend is such a trooper. I drag his "meat and potato" butt to so many places that I find on Yelp. Miso is no different. I am not a sushi expert by any means but I LOVE to try new things. So after reading the reviews I informed the BF that we would be going to Miso but during the lunch happy hour because that was when we would get the best deal. Holy cow. The sushi was amazing. The lunch specials are totally worth every penny. It was a great experience and I cannot wait to go again and try something different.

Rolled here with Lisa Star; the place had great service and pretty good sushi. I felt the quality was pretty good for a place not near a sea port, but some of the specialty rolls were a bit overpriced and not worth the bites. Coming from LA, PA, and NYC- i must admit I am a harsh critic, but these guys held their own for being in Harrisburg -- i'd definitely recommend trying it out!

Great modern atmosphere combined with good food. Had the grilled salmon roll & Chesapeake roll. They were good but not outstanding. Prices were slightly lower than other sushi places but less effort on presentation. It's BYOB. I'd return as the location is convenient.

Miso is a great place for sushi. It's possibly the best in the area. I'm a big fan of their specialty rolls (be sure to check out the daily specials posted on the white board near the cashier). I've also had the chicken and the steak teriyaki, but they are just okay. Do not opt for the fried rice, which has an additional cost, because it's really not worth it. The restaurant is clean and the staff are all very friendly.

Was in town and came back based on my previous experience. This time things were dramatically different. Ordered the sashimi combo (no octopus) and ikura sushi. Soup and salad came out at the same time which always makes me bananas. Does anyone understand pacing? Not 30 seconds later one of the sushi chefs comes around from the bar with my entree. I told him I had not even started my soup or salad and he makes a face while plopping my dinner down on top of the fish case. Now I know I have to eat quickly because the fish is laying out in the open. I finish my soup and salad and another person brings over my meal. I notice two things, one, they gave me octopus, and two, the ikura is bad. The eggs are all ruptured and it smells like shit. I tell them to take the ikura back and do not give me a substitue, I then tell the waitress I asked for no octopus and she takes it back. The entree returns a few seconds later with 3 more pieces of slamon, now I have 7. Hey, jackasses, how about switching it for something else? You know, maybe some yellowtail or mackeral? Obviously no one gives a damn in this place and the next time I am back in the Harrisburg area I will most certainly dine elsewhere.
