Bought a cheese pizza and pleasantly surprised at how delish it was. Omg I will dream about this pizza . And the best part the prices are cheap. So it get 5 stars because it's great and affordable!!

Good place to eat. Their cheesesteaks and pizza are delicious! Friendly staff who move fast. the only gripe I have is that they need a decorator real bad. They have been around plenty of time to get some decorations on those blank empty walls.

Great pizza with a perfect crust. Lots of seating and a good deal. Large pepperoni and 3 drinks for $17.

Really good pizza. Crust was crisp. Customer service was poor. Only had one piece of deep dish available. Then they wanted to charge for ice.

I really drove out of my way to get this pizza and it tasted like crap! My dependency on Yelp to find places when I'm on vacation filled me with a false sense of trust after visiting Mama's. With all the hype on this place I expected amazing pizza and even purchased not one but two pies! Pizza was bland and the crust tasted like cardboard. Everyone that says they are from New York must be from either Buffalo or the outskirts of NYC where people wish it was NYC but it's not. Seriously this pizza is nothing like NYC pizza, not even close! I eat pizza every single day, I kid you not, and this pizza spot was below average. While I didn't have their pasta dishes or heroes I can't confidently expect it to taste better when you have an epic fail on the basic pizza. Also I do live in the "outskirts" of NYC (about 100 miles; yea that's not NYC) but still work daily in NYC and eat pizza every day.

Very Flirtatious Ladies Men! Pizza is good but ladies be aware! Unreheated fresh pizza at $1.80/slice is a deal that can't be beat downtown, but it will be awhile before I come back here. I realize that pizza restaurant employees can be verbally flirtatious but I was not expecting this... I was in line paying for my slice last week and I handed the man cash. The guy said sweetly, "thank you my dear" and grabbed my hand as he gave me my change and took AWHILE to let go... It was very awkward... I guess he didn't see the ring on my finger.

You can't help but be snotty and judgmental about pizza when you're from the NYC region. And on my first night in PA we ordered pizza and got what we expected: weak not-as-good-as-frozen-from-the-supermarket. Two days later we were told about Mama's and I was skeptical from it's appearance and decor. Thankfully cranky kids kept me there instead of running for a place that wasn't lit with a 40 watt light bulb. Friendly staff and good prices. Definitely worth checking out.

Good food and nice people. Low price for food. If you want go to a good place in Harrisburg come here. Only complain credit card machine only a high min before using it.

When I first moved to Harrisburg I couldn't find decent pizza. Then I discovered Mama's Pizza on Market St. Their white pizza is to die for. It's the best I've ever had, anywhere. I've even taken friends there and got them addicted to the white pizza too. I'm not a meat eater but have heard wonderful things about the buffalo pizza. I do think the plain pizza is just average. The staff is always friendly and fast. My only complaint is the white pizza is too addicting!

Who would've thought that great pizza can be found in the 'burg? The slices here are great. When my co-workers and I relocated to Philly, some of them still talked about how fantastic Mama's Pizza was and how they missed it. Also, the guys who work behind the counter here are friendly and fast. I only wish they were open later. I've heard that their subs are also delicious, although I've never tried them.

I grew up in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area where pizza making is an art perfected by older Italian men who are, ahem, connected. I had an Italian uncle who made us the most amazing pizza on Sundays. Then I went to college in Chicago where the pizza is a whole different (and equally tasty) animal. (I'm trying to establish my pizza connoisseuriness here, okay? I know me some pizza!) I ordered a medium cheese pizza from Mama's yesterday and had it delivered to my office for lunch, to share with a co-worker. When I got downstairs to the security desk to pick it up, it was still piping hot. (and let me tell you-- the elevators in my building are SLOW!) When I opened the box, it looked the way pizza should. The cheese and sauce were mottled together, not that weird poxy spotted stuff that you get when pizza is baked in one of those conveyor belt ovens like they use at chain places. The aroma was a perfect blend of yeasty bread scent and tomato sauce. It was sliced neatly so that I didn't lose half my cheese when I pulled my slice out of the box-- always a nice perk. I folded it in half-- it's what us east coasters do. Then I took a bite- a good chunk of all three components. Cheese. Sauce. Crust. They're using a fantastic cheese blend there. It's not sharp but not bland either and there's a good amount of stretch. The sauce isn't overly sweet (a pet peeve of mine) and isn't overwhelmed by too much oregano. There was plenty of it there too, just the way I like it. The crust had a nice yeasty quality and was delicious. It was thicker than a traditional New York style pizza. There was no tip flop when I lifted the slice from the box-- it stood straight out on it's own but it had that amazing moist top that comes from having enough sauce. It was substantial; different from what I'm used to, but really, really good. I throughly enjoyed this pizza on it's own merits, as something different and unique. Among the best pizzas I've had in central PA.

My downtown go-to spot if I don't want the hugeness of Sandwich Man but want family-made awesomeness. Their bread is AMAZING!! I only ever order subs here because they are so amazing!!! You can't go wrong!

Warm thoughts of eating here with my grandmother while growing up. The place hasn't changed at all since then, and this is a good thing. Friendly counter help, and great lunch prices. Check out the celeb signatures on the wall while you wait for your slice.

I am lucky to be able to travel the world and eat some wonderful foods, one of my favorite being pizza. One of the bellhops from a hotel close by gave me this recommendation, and WAS he right on!! I ordered a meatlover's pizza to go (since I had some cold "beverages" waiting for me) and was kinda surprised at how dingy the place looked as I was passing by. I was definitely surprised and would probably not have eaten in or even noticed it (not that I'm high fashioned or anything since I was in shorts/t-shirt). Anyways, the guys behind the counter were very nice (could have been because there was only one customer in there). But, the guy knew right away that the pick-up order was for me. I asked him for an extra small box thinking that I'd be taking some along with me on my further journeys and he was more than courteous in giving it to me. When I got back to my room and ate the pizza.......HEAVEN! The pizza had ground hamburger, sausages, pepperoni, Canadian ham, etc. etc. and the cheese was fantastic! I don't know what blend they used, but it was unlike any "factory" cheese like dominos or pizza hut. I finished 3 huge slices and had 5 left over which I took with me on my travels. I shared it with my coworkers on the plane and they were happy with it too!! Their menu had strombolis, calzones and a bunch of other stuff; probably not as extensive as other places, but decent enough. And their prices were moderate. If you're in Harrisburg (downtown), I'd go here again for sure (maybe take out again though)!!!

I had to take a trip to Harrisburg for business. I lovvveee pizza and as a NY'er, you can assume that I've had some great pizza in my years. So I see a line out the door of Mama's pizza and I think to myself "That must be some great pizza" so i get on line to order some pizza. The place looks like something out of the 1980's but not in a good way. It looks dirty and greasy. The years of dust and grease can be found on everything. The menu looked like it wasn't cleaned since they got it. It was just a real turn off for me but I stayed on line because I thought the pizza would be great. I've been to greasy spoons before so i know that sometimes the decor means nothing. The people at this place were nice and pretty quick. I ordered 2 plain slices. The rule to seeing how good a pizza place is, is to try their plain cheese pizza first. I have to say, I was disappointed. The pizza wasn't horrible at all, it just wasn't great. It had a basic cheese/tomato sauce taste but nothing that made it stand out. I realized why the line was so long outside... it's because it was during lunch hour and there are not that many choices for different types of foods in the area, at least from what i can tell.

I love the owner and all the people who work here. They are super nice and the pizza ain't bad either. It's right down the street from me so I'll grab the occasional slice but I really like their whole pies. I especially like their special steak sandwich ... basically a cheesesteak with pepperoni sauteed right in it. The bread is fresh and I think it's baked on premises. Pricing is good as well. I only wish they did more delivery but what the hey ... I need to walk off the calories.

Loved this place!! The pizza was delicious, as ordered, and it's a great price for the amount you get! It was also delivered very quickly - under 35 minutes! We were staying in a hotel at the time, and they were nice enough to bring us paper plates and napkins!
