Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

We happened upon JoJo's sort of by accident, but it was a very fortunate detour. We enjoyed some Pinot Grigio on the patio with our bruschetta and Stromboli. The atmosphere was laid back and lovely. A really nice experience!

pretty decent overall... they messed up the take out order slightly but the food was good. The sauce was one of the better I had. Very nice place, newly remodeled etc. Very large portion sizes for the dinners. Nice side salad. This place was very busy which is a good sign... If you are looking for a nice place to go that is more than just a pizza joint, this is a good choice. John the server was very nice and helpful..

We order salads from Jo-Jo's for lunch at work a few times per month, and they are always delicious! The chicken is tender and marinated with great seasonings! This is the only salad I've ever had where there was more meat than lettuce.

We are driving from Asheville,nc to Boston and decided to stay over night in Harrisburg . We were surprisingly pleased with Jo-Jo's. We are traveling with two golden retrievers and enjoyed sitting out on their patio sipping a delicious martini with a slice of mushroom pizza. My husband ordered chicken Parmesan, which was very good, and I had a piece of grilled salmon with sautéed spinach....everything was very good. The best thing about our pleasant experience was the wait staff. They were all delightful. What a lucky find! enjoy

Having practically grown up with JoJo's, this pains me to do. This place has gotten too expensive. They built a completely new building within the last year and it's pretty evident that extra overhead is getting passed to the customers. I actually went through some old menus I had from them and the price creep is plain as day. A cold italian sub, pretty much the stable of pizzeria subs everywhere, costs 6.59. That's totally unacceptable. The plus side of this is it caused me to try the place across the street, Angelo's. Long story short, I now see no reason to go back to JoJo's.

Careful when you order pick up. Their staff is incredible incompetent and has messed our family orders up multiple times. Tonight we ordered an eggplant panini for our vegetarian and ended up with a chicken. Unacceptable after we even asked how the eggplant was prepared. Make sure you check orders before you leave!!

Construction has finished, and I've been here twice since... both times were great.

This is a great place to eat - and they've recently torn down an aged location, and are building a new restaurant. Their pizza is very good, as are their subs(great rolls) and other offerings. However, my favorite is their special-grilled chicken salad with balsamic vinaigrette - they start with chopped romaine lettuce and add some red onions and carrots in good proportions. They grill some marinated chicken (good on its own) and small mushrooms and add that on top of the lettuce. To that, they add two slices of provolone cheese, that ends up melting over the hot chicken. Add the vinaigrette, and it becomes one of the best salads, actually meals, I've ever eaten. The salad is served with some good, chewy bread sticks - I guess made from the same dough as their great sub rolls. Check it out soon - actually in a few weeks when the new restaurant is completed (10302010)

Great local place! I really enjoyed my hot sub sandwich; the bread was excellent and as another reviewer said, that makes all the difference! Service was also really friendly!

This was cheap pizza, not only did they go cheapo w cheezo the dough even tasted cheap. They do have A big variety of lunch specials, n nice they had 2 slices w drink combo. But pack ur own cheezeo, yoyo.

First time visit for my Wife and I, although we live in the area; great service, cold beer, mixed drinks, sandwich, pizza and full dinner selections, clean and well lit atmosphere, reasonably priced; we'll be back! - diamond in the rough . . . . Jeff & Joann

In my quest to taste something different... something that makes me crave more... I thought I'd drive a little out of my way today to drop in on Jo Jo's Pizza. My cousin raves about the one she frequents and recently told me that the location near her in E.Ville offered spinach dip on their menu. I love spinach, so why not? First thing I noticed when I drove up was that they apparently are either building on to the restaurant or building a new restaurant. If I had to make a suggestion, I'd say build it new! The inside of this location was not what I was expecting. The dining area seemed to be used for storage. There was a piano and a jukebox, and a few video games, but other than that, it didn't look very welcoming to me. Once I grabbed a menu I realized that this location doesn't offer spinach dip, so instead I ordered a Caesar salad and some fried zucchini. This was the first time I'd ever seen fried zucchini on a pizzeria menu so I though, why not? While waiting for my food, I used their restrooms which in my opinion is an indication as to weather or not their kitchen is clean. Clean bathrooms, clean kitchen right? While walking through the door to where the restrooms were, I was totally grossed out by the fact that they stored their pizza boxes (not flat, but assembled) within the enclosed restroom hallway area. I guess just the thought of having an item that food will be served in that close to the bathrooms is what really sent a shiver down my spine! Not cool! Thankfully I wasn't getting pizza! (WHEW!) The bathroom was small. Not what I'd consider to be handicap accessible and it wasn't clean. The 'automated' open button, close button trash can was overflowing which leads me to believe that they didn't empty it in quite awhile. I arrived there at 1:30, they open at 11 am. Could a tall waist high trash can like that really accumulate that much garbage in one and a half hours? I took my order to go. The guy at the counter didn't seem as though he cared one way or the other. No smile or even a greeting when I walked in the door. Sorta like "ehh... what do you want" personality. Now for my review on the food. I got home and opened my salad to find that there were carrots on my Caesar salad, but no dressing whatsoever. Carrots on a Caesar salad was certainly a first for me. I had to make my own dressing at home, so I was slightly torqued off about the fact that none came with the salad itself. As for the fried zucchini ...it was nothing I'd go back for. Nothing was offered to dip it in and it was just plain old fried zucchini. Will I go back? Maybe if they build a new building with enough space to store their assembled pizza boxes, hire new staff and add something more exciting to the menu.

The best pizza in the lower paxton / west hanover area. we have always gone there as kids and it was always pretty great. the prices are standard and sometimes they have coupons in the clipper, patriot or central pa dining guide. their stromboli is the best in the area. the bad thing is their sodas are 1.75 and no free refills.

We ordered take out. A cheeseburger sub, pasta trio, calamari, and linguini and clams. Everything was exceptionally good. Was pleasantly surprised that the clams were fresh in the shell. It could have been a little more spicy for me but still flavorful. Calamari was tender. I was skeptical because it's usually hard to get decent seafood but they did a good job. Portions were pretty good we were pleased overall.

Large menu with tons of options. The specialty pizza slices are huge. The building itself is brand new and extremely clean. Large dining room, several TVs and some outdoor seating for when the weather's nice. They do deliver and have a large take-out business.

I'm going to stay neutral for now, I mean today, I mean as of this hour with respect to my opinion with this place. The place has 2 options - sit down pleasant decor with outside sitting restaurant and take out. My review is entirely about takeout food. We are going you this place since 2002 and what puzzles me the most is even after 13 years of being their "takeout" customer I'm hanging in the middle with my opinion on this place. This is largely because the place has a huge potential to surprise me, it's like playing bingo at the church .... Sometimes the food is exceptionally awesome, sometimes it's average and one time has to take it back because the order was totally messed up - hoagie was cold chicken. That was my experience from my most recent visit/takeout maybe 5-6 months back.

My wife and I WERE regulars here, we had several bad experiences mostly with bad wait staff. But the last time were in will be our last. I ordered chicken franchaise and my wife ordered a hoagie after an almost hour wait my chicken came out raw in the middle. Not just undercooked actually raw. After getting the waiters attention he took it back to the kitchen and said they are making a new one. The second plate came back 15 minutes later, obviously microwaved and still raw. After asking to speak to the manager I was told she is busy and cannot come over. As I got up to leave the waiter said here is your check (which included the raw chicken). I refused to pay for the chicken, paid for the hoagie (which made my wife sick) and went to the pizza place right across the street Angelo's which I still go too! JoJo's on 22nd will never have my business and I am still waiting for an apology from the owner. I DO NOT recommend this place at all!

Beautiful restaurant, spacious and comfortable, but, by far, the worst pizza I have ever had! The sauce was thin and flavorless, I think it could have been tomato juice, the cheese was sparce, and, despite the fact that this was a dine-in order, the pizza was barely warm when it arrived at the table. By the time we got to the second piece, the crust was soggy from this horrible sauce! I'm sure this place has to do something well, given that they were able to afford the nice building, I just don't know what it is. Given the choice between this and at home frozen, I'll take the frozen pizza

Pizza was tasty. Nice outdoor seating. Service was friendly and good. Salad was fresh. Would definitely come back.

Pizza was ok. Service was SLOOOOOW....and slow for no apparent reason. They weren't busy and had plenty of servers. Also, the amount of flies in the dining area was annoying and worrying. Cleanliness problem?

I have been going here for well over 10 years for pizza/sub's which have always been fresh and delicious. On a recent visit here, we waited over an hour for two pasta entrees and a kids meal. The restaurant was about halfway full, so I can't really figure out was took so long - I feel like they forgot about us. There were tables all around us that got seated after we did and were served before us. I think an hour wait for food at a pizza shop is not acceptable. I was very disappointed with this recent visit.
(2)Kristy Jo C.
The food and the waiters were good but the hostess made us feel like we were there ruining her night.
(3)Keagon D.
this place is ok the wings usually are too dry the door to the restaurant used to be really hard to push in and open, but they fixed that so +1 star there is a mirror along the entire right wall of the inside (facing the back from the entrace) you can stare at yourself while you eat the people in there are always really nice though
(3)Wade M.
I must reinforce the reviews that talk about the abnormally slow service. May have been the slowest service I've ever had on a not very busy night to get some average Italian cuisine. Definitely will not be coming back.
(2)Samuel S.
Best pizzeria in the area with usually good specials to back it up!!! They are always quick and have a friendly atmosphere. My recommendation is to always start with a plain slice to judge the quality properly before getting too fancy and theirs is awesome. The chicken parm is also stellar if you are not in the mood for pizza.

I placed a carryout order for an order of calamari and was told it would be 15 to 20 minutes. I arrived after fifteen minutes and received the tiniest amount of calamari for $9. Not only that, but it was lukewarm, chewy, and obviously frozen. It also smelled slightly off. My husband who will eat anything said that it was inedible. That money went straight into the trash. We have eaten there before, but were not entirely thrilled with their pizza, and after this experience, we will NOT be going back.

White pizza - Olive oil, basil, mozz and mushrooms. If I know what an authentic pizza tasted like I think this would be close to it. The simple ingredients made this one of the best pizzas I've ever tasted. My husband and daughter had calzones which they enjoyed. The loss of a star was due to the slow service. The waitress couldn't seem to keep up with the drinks at the table and we wouldn't see her for long stretches. If I were to go through Harrisburg, PA again, I would definitely revisit this restaurant.
