Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Yikes! When we first walked in the restaurant reminded us of a nice mexican restaurant we used to frequent in Phoenix AZ. We were seated at a booth where the seats were not wiped off and there was food from the previous diners. The waiter brought us menus that were ridiculously large and gave us 30 seconds to decide. He kept checking back with us way too often. Its one thing to be attentive to your tables but its another to be annoying and pop in every 2 minutes. I ordered the enchiladas supremas which is a sampler of 4 types of enchiladas. The cheese enchilada tasted like velveeta. The beef enchilada was flavorless and looked like low grade dog food. The chicken was tender but lacked flavor and the bean enchilada was ok. Their rice looks like chinese fried rice with carrots and peas instead of traditional spanish rice which has a light tomato sauce. No one enjoyed that meal and it felt wrong to have to pay for such terrible food.

Terrible experience and almost laughable! At first glance, it looked great! We asked for a table vs a booth and we were led up a flight of stairs to a table on the balcony. It looked like we were in the back alley of the restaurant. A serving station was next to us and behind us, chairs stacked on top of each other. There was one lone chair, where our waiter sat and rested. Our table was wet and looked dirty so we mentioned it to the waiter and asked if he could dry the table. He promptly got the wet, dirty, rag that was sitting on the serving station and re-wiped the table down, making it even wetter. Now for the food.....We ordered the beef nachos but they didn't have any cheese on them and had one half of a sliced tomato wedge, a teaspoon of sour cream, with tons of lettuce. None of us had plates so while we were calling the waiter over to ask him for some plates, another server came up with our main entrees. We tried to explain to the person who brought our entrees that we had just gotten our appetizer and were not ready for our meal but the language barrier was too great. He just smiled and walked off. Thankfully my daughter's friend speaks Spanish and she was able to communicate with our waiter. The waiter said that that chef is not very good (no kidding) and he would frequently send the entrees out before the appetizer. I got the chicken fajitas and to me it tasted like pepper steak from a Chinese restaurant. The chicken, or at least I think it was chicken, was brown and cut into thin, tiny, chunks. The peppers and onions were so cooked down that they had no crunch. My hubby ordered the carnitas which were supposed to come with flour tortillas but he didn't get any. By that point, we'd given up. Even so, the pork was fairly good. Never again!!! The restaurant was dirty, the service was terrible, the food was horrible!!!

The Mexican people who live in this neighborhood should go to this place and ask them to stop using their country's name in their title. If I could give this place less than one star I would. All the fried food smelled and tasted of burnt oil and was very greasy. The chicken tacos were so far from authentic they could of called them a chicken wrap, and a bad chicken wrap at that. Thankfully I was not very hungry and didn't eat that much but my wife who did not eat lunch ate most of her food and is paying the price for it. We got this "food" as take out and ate in our hotel witch is across the street. If you are staying in this area just go to Ruby Tuesdays.

The food is always delicious. A great variety and friendly staff. A fun atmosphere. We love it there. The chorizo is off the hook!!!
(4)Ron M.
Claim to fame is that they make the guacamole at your table. Its good.
(3)Esq. H.
I'm not of Mexican descent, so I can't speak to the food's authenticity but this was good! I played it safe with the Chicken Nachos and Chicken Fajitas and they were delicious - the chicken was well seasoned. They aren't scared to feed you like some places. The portions are large and the margarita pitchers are strong! We went on a Saturday night, plenty of people but not crowded to the point where you have to wait for a table. If anything at all go and get a pitcher from this place!!
(4)Debbilicious P.
Love the salsa and chips Everything is good try the fajitas Make sure you ask for extra guacamole
(5)Daniel T.
Meh. I've eaten a lot of Mexican food in my life. It's my favorite food and I make it a point to check out local spots whenever I'm out of town. The place looks great inside. Was very impressed with the layout. Salsa was runny, very liquidy. Bar was dirty, which is where I sat. The stuff behind the bar looked run down. I ordered the fajitas tejanas, and the shrimp just wasn't right. It was almost clear. Basically this place is ok. Good atmosphere and close to the mall if you happen to want some Mexican food while shopping.

We got here and were told it would be a 10-minute wait, but that turned into 35-40 minutes instead. Fortunately, unlike others, we found spots at the bar, however, it took nearly the entire wait to get our margaritas, which weren't all that stellar, and the bartender was clearly overwhelmed and snapping at the waitresses. When we were finally seated, the waitress was extremely friendly and helpful, as was a waiter who gave me drink suggestions after finding out I wasn't thrilled about my drink, and our food came out quickly. Fortunately, in spite of everything, it was absolutely delicious. I would certainly go back, but hopefully the wait won't be so long, not only for drinks but to be seated. Otherwise, it was a great experience and I recommend at least giving it a try!

This was a 9pm choice in the middle of a road trip. The food itself was good, but the portions are small, served on smaller plates. A little disappointed to see that the first basket of chips and salsa were complimentary...with a $12 purchase. Refills cost extra. Not that I'll ever be in the area again, but I doubt I'd be back.
(3)Matt W.
My wife and I absolutely love this place! She is a vegetarian with a gluten allergy and Fiesta Mexico has lots of options for her!
(5)Milly V.
Great mexican food!! Loved the sangria. The place looks like a mexican rancho. The tables and chairs are made out of wood. Light are dimmed and in they have mariachi music playing. The waiters provide great service.
(3)Julia P.
Everything was fresh and the service was great. Really enjoyed the fresh guacamole that they make for you right at the table! It was an average to good experience and I would definitely go back if invited by a friend.
(3)Steve D.
After reading mixed reviews I was skeptical but it was close to my hotel and it was what I was in the mood for. I sat at the bar an hour before closing. Even though they were a bit unorganized they definitely were focused on making sure I was taken taken care of. Not very busy but staffing levels were adequate. Juana waited on me and was a friendly order taker. No suggestions but friendly. Chips and salsa = B- not enough salsa, good taste but chips were a bit underdone. Carne Asada = A- meat was great, good portion, the reason it is not an A+ is the beans and the lettuce with guacamole could have been a bit nicer presentation and quality. The side of tortillas were not as warm as they should have been. House Margaritas were good. Overall it was a nice meal. Not super authentic Mexican food but a hard working crew with a decent atmosphere. I will return...

Good food, good value, good drinks a fun and affordable place to eat..la Parilla is a fajita meal for two
(4)Heather P.
Okay. Not The greatest of joints but DEFINITELY got the job done:)! Night away with the hubby in Hershey. Wanted dinner before the bears game. Got take out. Went to the bar and ordered. Long wait but long story short...margaritas were good, guac and chips decent. Taco salad w chick banging! Waitress said she would would get shrimp tacos or taco salad if she was getting a meal. Left alone at bar in between drinks, not personable until older friendlier server came along. He was awesome! If your not high maintenance and don't need authentic Mexican, it's good.
(3)Manda G.
Delicious food and very friendly service. In town for work and was recommended by a coworker since its next to my hotel. Ordered enchiladas and the sampler appetizer. All were delish. Particularly loves the very meaty chicken enchiladas and the quesadillas that came in the sampler. The extra friendly service also added to overall experience.

Second time here first was october 2013 and recent was December 12 2014 Seated right away time was around 1600 one dislike was that they just pack everybody in one location trying to save room or Something I can't stand being seating in the middle and we had the only table with these high rise chairs uncomfortable. Salsa was decent I can make better at home small cups also can't stand that giving me a small ass cup ment for an 6 year old. Food came out quick that was surprising food was good I've had a lot worse from Mexican places. I guess this is considered good for pa. A tad overpriced. The guy was slow on my refills bathrooms were nice. Restaurant looked clean i would eat there again

I've passed by this place several times while here on business and tonight I was finally able to try it. I was seated promptly and the chips and salsa arrived quickly. The chips seemed freshly made--as opposed to from a bag--but the salsa was very thin and had no spice. The waiter was very slow in coming by to take my drink order. By the time he finally came back to take my dinner order, I was out of chips, salsa, and beverage. Very slow service. I ordered the crab chimichangas to try something different. The menu said it was crab meat in either a soft or deep fried shell. I chose one of each. The dish was delivered suspiciously fast. The server (not my waiter) brought the plate out with a glove, I suppose indicating that it was hot. The food wasn't. It was warm. I thought from the menu description that it was crab meat...it was more like a crab cake. It was very much like the puréed crab stuffing that you find in those crab shells from Costco/Sam's. I think that the plan was to have the deep frying of the chimichanga cook the stuffing to firm it up. Well, since I had one "soft" or not fried, it was undercooked. The chimichangas were supposed to be covered in "cheese sauce" but we're not. They did have guacamole which was good. So, for $15 for two chimichangas filled with puréed crab stuffing, it was not very impressing. Coupled with the poor service, this was a very unsatisfying experience. I'll be looking for another local Mexican place.

Dining experience: 03/28/2014 4:22 p.m. First, I have been here in the past and it is okay, but El Rodeo is superior in food and service. I think good service begins at the door. The host who seated us did not welcome my kids and I, sat us and then literally threw the menus on the table, nothing said, and he walked away. This tone sets for a horrible dining experience. The food was brought out by the kitchen and we were not asked if we needed anything (Ketchup for my daughters fries). The server did not follow up for several minutes and drink refills and anything we wanted we had to ask for. I am not used to this because other places we go, we never have to ask. The only positive experience I can say is that it is clean and the chips and salsa were good.

We went here on a Saturday night and everything was great! The service was perfect zero delays. I ordered the Patron margarita and it was one of the best I've had. The Grand Mariner was floating on top and the drink was slightly strong (this is a good thing) but not over done, this margarita was excellent! The do put chips & salsa out as soon as you get to the table. I don't think the chips are made there but the salsa was definitely fresh, not hot, the heat was done so everyone can tolerate it. I ordered the tri taco platter (1 chicken, 1 pork & 1 steak taco) the hot sauce it came with was definitely extra hot, exactly what I wanted and paired perfectly with my margarita. The platter came with rice and re fried beans but I got black beans instead and they weren't mushy just the way I like them. The menu had a huge selection and the kids menu had everything from tacos, pizza, Mac n cheese & fries. Had a reasonable draft selection too. My boyfriend took me here. He said this place can get real busy and sometimes things don't go smoothly but, I wanted to go despite the mixed yelp reviews. Glad I did. I will be going back.

I'm still here...and created this account just to review this restaurant. One star because I had to choose, otherwise, I give it ZERO STARS. We are from out of town, MA, and although we read the first couple of reviews, I suggest you keep reading a bit more to make up your mind. This place is DISGUSTING for a lack of a better word. I truly feel sorry for anyone who thinks this is authentic Mexican cuisine. We are avid travelers and enjoy ethnic foods, this restaurant shouldn't even open it's doors. For starters, I sent back their "pre-mixed signature" margarita as it had an odd aftertaste, it tasted old, my husband also had a taste and agreed. The guacamole cart service was ok, nothing spectacular - it lacked flavor; fresh cilantro, lime and more salt goes a long way. We ordered the Fajitas for Two plate and steak was old, hard, over cooked and lacked flavor. Also ordered a shrimp plate - lacked flavor and I'm not sure shrimp was fresh. Sorry, I don't have pictures of food ordered bc we asked for bill and wanted out ASAP. Pros - Server, Marlen A, was attentive Cons - everything. Waste of money. Save yourself the money and aggravation - go elsewhere!

Food was ok... Service was way below par. I had a frozen margarita that was horrible!! I'd probably find another place to go honestly.
(2)Shannon P.
We decided to try fiesta Mexico because many people have recommended it in the area. I've ranked this 4 stars because this is the quality of food you expect at these type of Mexican places. The salsa had zesty flavor and were served with chips. My partner and I order the lunch special of chicken enchilada and burrito. I like my Mexican saucy, and the enchilada was drier than I expected. Overall, the items had a good overall taste but needed more sauce. We would return again after trying others in the area. Next time, we would try the made to order guacamole. This filled my Mexican craving!
(4)Tim K.
Good food. Space. And mariachi band that was a nice touch after a great day at Hershey park. Home made guacamole and solid taco trio.
(3)Donna H.
We always get the same thing when we eat there. We love the trio tacos meal but we always get them with steak. (they have 3 in the meal as chicken, ground beef and steak.) We just prefer the steak for all 3 as the chicken really has no taste. They use a kind of cheese on a lot of there food which I dislike immensely. Is it casa? Not sure but it is liquid-ie. I have asked several times why they don't use shredded cheddar cheese. So we take our own cheese when we go. I fill a small baggie with our cheese and we're happy.
(4)Bill K.
Slooow service, fatty meats, and watch your credit card. I got charged twice for someone else's dinner. Sure, I'd expect this in Mexico but didn't need this level of authenticity .
(1)Nikki K.
I had a horrible experience. I was in Harrisburg and we wanted some Mexican food so we stopped by. We were disappointed. 1. When we got to our table the wait staff took 10 minutes to recognize us. We tried to get their attention 3 times. 2. The salsa tasted like it was out of a can. No heat. When we asked for hot salsa we were told they didn't have any. When we asked again they said they only had hot sauce. 3. We ordered the guacamole - it was disgusting. No flavor. Just mashed up avocados. It cost $3.99 (total rip off!) 4. It took 45 minutes for our food to come out. People who had reached later than us were eating before us. 5. I ordered fajitas with chicken and they brought me fajitas with chicken and steak. The food isn't that good and the service sucks. The cost of food is horrendous. This place is not worth the trip, PERIOD!
(1)Viki H.
Meh. The food is bland, the service is ok, but pretty mediocre. Definitely not something to write home about. Even the chips and salsa isn't great. Definitely my third and final visit here.
(1)Leslie W.
Desperate for an icy margarita and mexican deliciousness, we ventured here on a Saturday night. The parking lot was packed--I took that as a good sign. I ordered a watermelon margarita. I couldn't hide my disappointment when our waitress placed a glass of ice cubes suspended in pink liquid. I thought for sure it would be blended. I asked her if I had to specify a frozen margarita. She answered: "It would be too bitter if we blended it." Hmmm. Still hopeful, we tried not to choke on the cubes as we waited for our meals. I ordered the Chicken Chilaquiles. The chicken was bland as was the enchilada sauce that coated the chips. I didn't even finish my meal. The chile con queso was decent, but not enough to make me want to return. It's too bad, because the decor is cute and the location is convenient.

REALLY SICK FOR DAYS! My mom brother sister and I went here for lunch on the weekend. I woke up the next day sick and stuck in bed for two days coughing and throwing up. I thought it was the cold weather, but after talking to the rest of my family I later found out they got sick as well. Throughly disappointed and angry this establishment charged me money to give me one of the worst bugs I have had in years. Thanks for nothing fiesta Mexico, would have been safer eating at McD's.This got me so mad I actually signed up for yelp and wasted ten min of my life to steer everyone away from your so called restaurant. Deemed UNSAFE to eat!
(1)C'Anne W.
Didn't expect much based on reviews. Very pleasantly surprised. Recommend cheese enchiladas, beef enchiladas, mixed fajitas and steak soft tacos. Margarita mas fina was perfecto. Girls loved the virgin strawberry and raspberry margaritas. Plus our waiter, Fernando, was attentive and funny. Wish they were closer to home!
(4)L L.
We saw this place from the highway and decided to stop by. The staff was good and the food was okay. We saw the Yelp review that they make the guacamole at your table... we ordered that but was just handed a small plate of it without any fanfare. It was expensive and was just average. Not worth it.
(2)Christine B.
Good cheap "Mexican" food. They have everything you could think of in terms of Mexican dishes. The chips were tasty as was the salsa. I had vegetarian enchiladas, with spinach, and they were quite good, and super filling. The rice was very tasty. Others raved about the tacos. Watch out for the spicy salsa because apparently it's really spicy.
(3)Sara L.
I had very low expectations for this place. I'm not a fan of El Rodeo, and I thought this would just be more of the same, especially because of that font on the sign... I was proven wrong! Very fun atmosphere. Tastes very fresh. Authentic... They'll make your guac tableside! One of the better Mexican establishments in Central PA!
(4)K C.
Best place in Harrisburg for some tex-mex. I recently moved from Texas and haven't found a better place for tacos and margaritas.
(4)Ash M.
If I could sum up the food at Fiesta Mexico in two words, they would be: Greasy and Unauthentic. If you want something authentic, head over to Tres Hermanos.... However, they have made-to-order guacamole, and the atmosphere is also pretty fun and lively. There is always a crowd in the evenings, and it's a nice place to meet up with friends. Decor is super festive (hence the word "Fiesta" in the name) but be wary of the leather scoop chairs...they are oddly non-ergonomic.
(3)Joseph C.
Has a quick dinner here on 3/16/2013 and I would return. The salsa was fresh as another reviewed commented and good, they bring you more if you just ask. I had the taco trio and it was good. I would return. The ambiance is nice as its a pretty big location with interior windows and you bring that outdoors indoors type finish with soon roofs inside. Not exceptional but nice.
(4)Nicholas R.
First time I was here it was pretty busy. I walked in and the decor was nice, the place looked clean, and everyone was friendly. My friends and I sat up on the balcony area and we could see almost the whole dining room which was cool. We order the guacamole which WAS made at our table side and wasn't that bad. I had the steak quesadillas and ate all of them cause they were awesome! The food was great, but a little pricey. On the other hand I didn't mind paying it at all from my overall experience. Great place to eat! Will come back.
(4)Matthee W.
We stopped off the interstate and came into this restaurant completely blind, and were pleasantly surprised. As far as typical Mexican places, this one is certainly above the typical "cheap Mexican" restaurant. Decor, service, etc. The staff was hospitable, and the service was quick. It took five minutes (or less) to have my fajitas and my guest's combination dinner on the table. Prices were fair, and overall a positive experience!
(4)Erin B.
Driving from NY to Pittsburgh we were looking for some place near the hotel to have a quick dinner and found Fiesta Mexico on Yelp. (Thanks Yelpers!) We loved it. Big menu, huge drinks, nice staff, and the food is good. My two immediate tests for any Mexican restaurant are: 1) Is the salsa fresh? Check! Nice, fresh salsa. Spicy without burning your face off. 2) Are the margaritas good? Check! Good thing I ordered the small version of the house margarita. It was the size equivalent of a small bucket. And tasty! I suspect there is some Midori in there. They even made a custom margarita with no sour mix for my boyfriend that was incredible. I had enchiladas supremas, my favorite, and I was not disappointed. Boyfriend had the Tres Tacos thingy and raved about the carnitas (he is a New Yorker and doesn't rave easily). Service was a a little slowish considering they were at about 25% capacity but very friendly and helpful. We will definitely go again when we are back in the area.
(4)Leen W.
CHECK YOUR BILL GUYS!!!!! 3 of us my husband, my daughter and myself we went for lunch on our marriage anniversary. Our Bill for 3 of us was close to 55$. .... The waitress added 15$ graduity to the bill.... i.e. 25% WHAT A RIP OFF!! Since when does for party of 3 1) Do they add gratuity to the bill? 2) and during Lunch time And then there is an area again which says Tip ... so if you don't look carefully you'll end up paying them more Tip that your bill actually is.... My husband sent the waitress back and asked her to remove the 25% gratuity included in the bill
(1)Jacqueline B.
This used to be my FAVORITE Mexican food joint. We dine here 3-4 times a month. The last 3 times we have been here the service has been TERRIBLE!!! And the food has been served cold twice. Not warm, COLD. The last straw was on Friday night I called to make a 7:00 reservation, which was accepted, as reservations have always been. When we get there, the hostess tells me they dont take reservations. I showed her the phone number I called on my phone and she argued that someone else must have answered the phone and didnt know any better. I told her I made reservations many times in the past. Rather than say, I'm sorry ma'am we'll work on getting you a table, she copped an attitude with me, literally told me I was wrong, and to sit and wait. I wanted to leave, but she said wait there is a table open. She then preceeds to RUN through the damn restaurant and up the stairs. Seriously, we were walking at a brisk pace behind her and could not keep up. She threw our menus on the table and walked away. I attempted to complain about her to our waitress. She didnt care. Hell, I had to ask her twice for utensils. The food came out hot this time, but got cool as I had to sit waiting for her to come around to ask if it was ok. I reminded her that I needed utensils and she said sorry, it was the hostesses fault because she was supposed to put them there. Ridiculous. This place lost a loyal customer...

Stopped in because I really like Mexican food and driving past it everyday, thought it'd be a good idea. Hostess was hard to understand, waited at the bar (bartender was really slow) and young girl as our waitress that seemed like she had never waitressed before (could be true). Chips/salsa were fresh and I had 2 bowls of them. The food kinda came out thrown together and I could hardly tell the difference between anything. It was SO hot that there was no taste. The atmosphere is alright, but the booths sit WAY too far back from the table, plus I could barely hear everyone in the conversation at the table. Meh.
(2)Vishal S.
So okay I have read all the reviews here for Fiesta Mexico - more good than bad. I agree with some but fortunately for me did not have to go through the bad experiences that lot of people have had here. I have driven past this restaurants many times now and finally decided to give it a try for dinner last night (Wednesday). We got there around 9 Pm (late for H'burg) and were seated immediately. First impression - liked the interiors - huge open space, good decoration and lots of tables! There were a few tables occupied - like 10 or so. We were seated in a huge booth and handed menus - books more like it! I agree the menu is huge and confusing and as someone said - many combination of the same dishes. Our waiter took our drink order and left us to decide on the main course. The margarita was good (Chamboard margarita). Our server brought us chips and salsa right away but my request for hot salsa took 3 reminders and 25 minutes to show up. Take away 1 star for that. Service in general was sub-par :( We ordered Shrimp Chimichanga and Chicken and Steak fajita for main course. Quantity is good - will make big eaters happy! I wanted extra spicy and you bet it was!! Food was well cooked and flavorful - not bland that other users have reported. Overall - would try this place again and s is definitely better than other more expensive Tex-Mex places in Harrisburg. Have yet t try El Rodeo so cannot compare to that yet...

It's a shame, really. The food is pretty good here, but the service is terrible. Been here four or five times, and every time, the waiter or kitchen somehow forgot one of our meals. Once, we were served our meals and still had no silverware to eat with, and had to ask, then wait ten minutes while our food got cold. The last time I went, which was the last straw, I got up and went behind the bar to get myself a refill because the waiter never returned.
(1)V C.
First time I came here, I waited ten minutes before getting water, salsa and chips, and my order taken. I was mad, but so hungry I didn't want to go to another place. The waitress was apologetic, and got my food to me in less than 5 minutes after ordering. I'm glad I stayed! I had been really disappointed in El Rodeo, and noticed this was like the same place. However, I guess it really depends what you order. I got the Chile Rellenos (cheese) and LOVED them. It's more TexMex, which is what I was looking for; but it was the best Tex-Mex I've found in this area. The salsa was fresh and homemade, with plenty of cilantro and spices. The tortillas were thin and looked store-bought, but still pretty tasty. I ate half my plate and saved the rest for later, so it made a pretty cheap and delicious 2 meals.
(4)John H.
Food's good, service was good. Will eat here again
(4)Gina E.
FYI as I read everyone's post: El Rodeo (all of them) and Fiesta Mexico are the same (same owners, same wait staff, same utility, same cooks, they cover for the other restaurants when needed). The food can be good to mediocre depending on what you order. I order the steak w/ rice, refried beens and corn tortillas, pretty good. The tacos not so good, plus they sell a lot of "tex mex" iteams which aren't authentic Mexican. Tex Mex= most of the things made with ground beef. But I guess they sell that stuff, because that is what many Americans know as Mexican food.
(2)Maz W.
We eat dinner here whenever we visit Hershey Park. Usually satisfying, though a bit greasy. I recommend the chicken fajitas with cheese. Their drinks are pretty good as well.
(3)Crystal D.
Delicious food and great service! Steak fajitas and fried rice incredible!
(5)John W.
Picante means hot! I already knew that. But during a recent Fiesta Mexico trip, I ordered the Fajitas Picantes. The server asked if I wanted the sliced jalepenos AND the hot sauce. More is better, right? I said yes. And that combination results in a very spicy dish. As in. "please senor, may I have an extra few napkins for my suddenly dripping nose." And I like spicy food. It was good and delivered on the "picantes" label. Others at the table had Fajitas Texanas, Carnitas, and Chicken Quesadilla Rellena. All of us liked our choices Chips and salsa always seem to be good - chips are thick corn chips, my preference would be for a slightly thinner chip. Overall opinion of Fiesta Mexico: pretty reliable mexican food. I'm sure there is more "genuine" mexican or "gourmet" mexican choices out there. While this is more typical "americanized mexican," it is good and enjoyable. We've eaten at Fiesta Mexico about 10 times.

We come here a lot and always have a good experience. We try to go when they have live entertainment as well. The decor is excellent and looks like authentic Mexican (as far as I can tell from movies and tv,) and on a recent visit in October they had it decorated for Halloween (or Day of the Dead,) and it looked great. The food is good (as everyone else said, it's the same stuff you'd get at El Rodeo) and the menu is HUGE! Whether that's good or bad is up to you. The only thing that I was ever disappointed in was once I got fajita's and something about them was 'off'. Since then I always end up getting the Grande meal, which has a nice selection of everything from Tacos to Burritos to other things I can't properly pronounce. It's always delicious and I always end up taking some home for a midnight snack. Also, as others have said, the food is served extremely fast... we barely strike up a conversation after we order and they are already bringing out our food.

This place has never let me down. I'm one to stick to the kinds of foods I know, but at this place it's different and I like to trying different foods each time. The menu has a large variety at a great price. I always have great service when I come here. And not only is the food and service wonderful, the atmosphere and interior really makes you feel as though you just traveled to Mexico.

It's popular so reserve ahead or get there early if you don't want to wait a long time with kids. Otherwise, they have a bar you can get drinks while you wait. Small bar but all the same. Love the building, atmosphere, decor, and staff has always been friendly for me. Careful, they will charge for every coffee refill. I know.

Quite possibly the worst restaurant I've ever been to. They offer gum on the menu. No joke. Cold chips, bad salsa, dirty tables, horrible decor, overly sweet margaritas. All around a bad restaurant. Wanted to like it.

Ate here while staying at one of the nearby hotels. Pretty good food. Tacos and chile rellenos are very good. Burritos, chips/salsa mediocre. Good service, food came out fairly quickly. Could use a buff and polish - bits of food in seat cushions, silverware on floor, table beaten up.

Typical "Mexican" for this area with expected menu. Need to be closer to the border to get better Mexican, so that being said it's not bad for the area. I been there several times and have had various items, but the chicken enchiladas verdes is my favorite. If you're planning on getting something different, you may need to try for the sopapillas for dessert to get it. Go if your quashing the urge to get Mexican with a group, as they can accomodate you best. If you're looking for authentic, then pack your bags and travel south.

Food was not good, service was mediocre at best. Kids got a quesadilla and the cheese wasn't even melted inside, they were like cubes. I ordered a Chile Relleno and Tamale, and couldn't tell which was what because it was buried under so much (mole?) sauce that I couldn't see either one, and the menu didn't indicate that it would be. The refried beans were bad and so was the rice. Service was slow, when they finally get to you. Also make sure that you ask for silverware when you first sit down or you'll wait a few minutes after you get your food to even try and eat it. Luckily we don't live near this place and have better choices back home, we will definitely not be back when in the area. First time I haven't finished my dinner at a Mexican restaurant, hopefully for the restaurant it was an off night for the kitchen and wait staff.

Great food great price and great service. To top it off highly suggest the fried ice cream supreme!

Same owners, staff, and menu as El Rodeo. But! This place is bigger and the decor isn't as loud. Love the food and drinks here. Service can be a bit slow at peak times (i.e weekend dinners).

Consistently good food. It's your typical Americanized Mexican food. Queso Fundido, Taco Salad and Quesadillas stand out. Decor is pretty awesome, especially the detail work on the tables and chairs. Service is usually above average. Ask to sit in the lower level, or if you're REALLY lucky, upstairs!

When I first stepped in, I was quite surprised by the interior. It was something I've never seen before. There were several levels that could all be seen from the front door. It had a Mexican feel, I think. I couldn't decide if it was unique and cool or unique and tacky. The food was ok. They use ground beef instead of steak and up-charge you if you order chicken in your burrito, enchilada, etc.. I ordered a raspberry margarita and boy was it sweet! Not in a good way either. I didn't realize that I was paying $6 for a smoothie. Ick. The burrito did have a yummy sauce. The chips and salsa were yummy. The service was FAST! I was barely into my fourth chip when my meal hit my table. I didn't even have silverware yet! An overall ok experience, but I will want to check out other restaurants during my stay in Harrisburg.

Food = serviceable, menu is way too big (and confusing) Service = OK Margarita = not good

Fiesta Mexico provides a filling, inexpensive meal - The décor is certainly a step-up from El Rodeo, but the food is pretty much analogous. Inside, the restaurant consists of two levels with a sunken center section; its very nice - sort of reminds me of a themed restaurant you would find in Disneyworld or something. I'm pretty sure there's a bar near the front too, although I've always gotten a table here. Their menu is mammoth - although most of the food is just varied combinations of the requisite rice, beans, beef, and cheese. Menu items are pretty similar to El Rodeo. I think they might have a few more or different selections (but I'm pretty sure the vegetarian section is exactly the same). I usually order the vegetable quesadilla whichever restaurant I am at; it is my favorite. They have a full bar, including dos equis on draft. Last visit I got a pomegranate margarita (way too sweet). Their lime versions are more palatable - but nothing remarkable. The service is swift and adequate; never had a problem, but I don't expect 5 star service. If you are near Fiesta Mexico or out with friends, stop in... but if I'm craving rice and beans for a quick dinner I'll probably be heading to one of the closer El Rodeos.

Fun place. Great food. Affordable. Nice service.

To clarify with some of the other reviews, Fiesta Mexico and El Rodeo (another local restaurant) are owned by the same people, so the menus are definitely the same. Now, I spent some time in San Diego, so I definitely have my cravings for Mexican food. Sadly, this place doesn't really satisfy, but if you think of it as a Tex-Mex place (like Chevy's), then it's a-okay. This place is nice and clean, and they give you complimentary chips and salsa of good quality. The food is decent, I particularly enjoy the fajitas. However, one time I ordered fajitas and the quantity of meat was lacking. This was definitely a negative, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and consider it a one time mistake. They occasionally have live music, with musicians going from table to table to play for you. I personally just want to sit and eat my food, but it might be a nice place to take a date (third or fourth date, most first dates would probably frown on you taking them to a Mexican instead of something fancier). All in all a decent place to get your fix for Tex-Mex style food. Prices are average for the area and the decor and layout are both pleasant. Plenty of parking too. 4 stars = I don't mind and have no better opinion

A friend of our lives in the H-burg area and we went out to dinner with him and his girlfriend at Fiesta Mexico on our way through town. First thing I noticed was the gigantic menu, which after looking it over quickly remarked to my wife immediately that the menu was confusing. So we strategically attacked the menu while have warm chips with salsa and began narrowing down our options. We both ended up with chicken based items. My chicken burritos were different than any "burrito" I'd ever had before, though they were were tasty, so I guess that is what really matters. The chicken was juicy with good flavor. In my opinion the prices were set well for the quality of the food we had. Seems as though some have had poor service, but overall there seems to be a consensus the food is not too shabby.

I think this is one of the better Mexican (Tex Mex) places in Hershey. The salsa is fresh and the food has been good when I was there. I also like the chairs upstairs and the decoration of the restaurant. Definitely a nice place to go with family and friends if you are in the mood for Mexican food...

Nice place, the drink is very tasty. The food so so .

Okay...so, the decor is beautiful. It's large, comfy and spacious. ...however... First off, the menu looked exactly like El Rodeo's (except there's a dish called Jose's combo instead of Pepe's combo, and you can mix and match your own combo instead of just picking from a number on a list). The chips and salsa were fresh, which of course is a plus. My meal was okay...only okay. I ordered the chicken taco salad (one of my regular dishes at el rodeo). First off, the tortilla bowl was a bit overdone. It had hardly any chicken, too. Not to mention the tortilla was too thin...it couldn't hold any weight at all (for those bites where you pile everything on top of a good chunk of crispy tortilla goodness). After several failed attempts at reaching my mouth, and ending up on my pants, I was pissed. I also burned my hand on the plate...yes, it was THAT hot. Normally when cautioned about a hot plate, it cools within a few minutes. Not this plate...it stayed hot the WHOLE time I ate my meal--not a pleasant experience. I guess overall, the taste of the food was comparable to what I've eaten at several el rodeo's in the area, but the quality was lacking...as was the service. It took WAY too long to get the check. I don't think I'll be returning...

Certainly not authentic Mexican. It's basically glorified Taco Bell. I say that but it is still good food it is not low quality. So if you want a big burrito and rice and beans for cheap you can get it and it's good. Atmosphere I love. They did a great job making it into a cantina type place! I eat here now and then just wish they had some more authentic Mexican type dishes. Most of it is your typical tex-mex different ways to eat rice and beans sort of thing. I still recommend over El-Rodeo I'll never eat there again.

I was really excited when this place first opened because I thought it would provide an alternative for Mexican around Harrisburg other than El Rodeo. Then I found out it was owned by the El Rodeo chain so scratch that. The food here is the same as any El Rodeo - bland. The only difference is that this place is absolutely gorgeous inside and the prices are higher. They did have some tasty varieties of margeritas however. My recommendation - good to try at least once, but altogether very average food.

Always passed this place on I-83 so finally went there. Had a house margarita and deluxe nachos. The margarita wasn't bad at all! The deluxe nachos with beef were a large portion. The menu is overwhelming and I do look forward to returning to try some of the other items. The other thing that I liked about this place was how large it was inside. You aren't crammed together like a bunch of sardines. So it seems like there probably wouldn't be a horribly long wait on a weekend night!

Great place. Went here after a day at Hershey. Good portions, affordable. Pitchers of beer for $8-10. Extensive menu that is completely on the website.

Good, typical Mexican food. Service was good. Waiter recommended their Patron margarita and it was very good.

Bar none, this restaurant offered the best guacamole I've ever had -- and I eat guacamole whenever I can! The rest of the food was average, but good. Our waiter, Fernando, deserves a raise. Our glasses of tea and soda never came close to being empty. He spoke Spanish to our delighted children, and praised them on their Spanish responses. I would definitely recommend Fiesta Mexico. I took one star off because the dining room was too dark to read the menu and the music was too loud.

Food was ok. Nothing special for Mexican food. I would say on par with Chi-Chi's but below Don Pablo's if that makes sense. The fajitas needed more flavor in them. Drinks were big but tasteless. Service was average. Follow Up: I've been back here 2 more times and the food is not really good... pretty bland, the best thing seems to be the chips and salsa! The service has never been good, but seems to be getting worse and worse. Ordered a margarita and had to send it back because it was practically water., i wasn't even complaining about the amount of alcohol, but the sour mix was barely evident. There has to be a better place than this for mexican

The food was bland and could use a little more flavor and spice. I had the chicken burrito and sopapilla with ice cream. Chips were fresh though. But the place looks absolutely great!

They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Well, I'm no man, but a great plate of Mole Poblano definitely softens me up a bit. The decor is FABULOUS. Remember Legends of the Hidden Temple? It's like that without the creepy talking Temple guy and the annoying host. The salsa could use a bit more chunks, and my Mole didn't have as much flavor as I'd like - but the ambiance alone is worth a few stars. The food was good - just not the best I've had, but the prices are reasonable and the place is just gorgeous.

I am giving this place three starts, even though its more Tex Mex than Mexican, I did have an enjoyable evening. Highly recommend the Hawaiian Fajitas because they are fresh, tasty and served in a pineapple (I am quite a fan of food served in food), plus it was not covered in cheese which is plus for those that really are not a fan of tex mex. Overall, I enjoyed Fiesta because this is the type of place you can take family and satisfy a variety of appetites. The interior is very eye catching as well (clean and spacious), great for groups and live music is played on occasion in the square.
(3)YURIY I.
the service was average, the raspberry margarita had a horrible after taste as if it was made with distasteful water that sat around for weeks. the taco salad was not as fresh as expected.
(3)Todd R.
Yum! I would rather eat here over the El Rodeo on 22 (too many health code violations). The Menu is similar to El Rodeo but there are some variations. Service is usually good (not when it first opened though) and the food is fast and hot.
(4)Paul s.
Food okay. Drinks...less than okay! A good to great margarita is not that hard to make, but somehow this place does not get it! I hate to say this, but if Mexican is what you are craving, do Mo's or Taco Bell...ouch, that was hard to say!

Definitely one of the weirdest restaurant experiences ever; it left my friends and I feeling totally awkward and never wanting to go back. After we were seated, my friend moved her chair to the end of the table so our group could all hear each other better; in fact she was more out of the way there than she was when she was sitting where the chair was placed at the table when we sat down. We immediately got a disgusted look from a waitress who made a comment to the bartender ABOUT THE FACT THAT WE MOVED THE CHAIR. Then another server walked by and looked at our seating arrangement made the comment "Oh, that works." Once again...ABOUT THE FACT THAT WE MOVED A CHAIR. Every single table around us had chips and salsa and silverware...20 minutes after being there, we still didn't and continued to watch tables that came in after us around us get better service while we somehow remained unnoticed. Finally our Queso Fundido arrived and we still had no chips for another 10 minutes. My friend got up to find a manager because it truly seemed like we were being purposely ignored. The manager came over just as our food arrived and the man delivering our food was more apologetic than the manager was. He basically offered no solution and said "I can't offer you free drinks or food, but I can give you free dessert." We declined and ate our food, paid and left. Worst experience, will never go back.
