Great diner with a big breakfast/brunch options and big portions. The staff was friendly and very hard working. Great place for kids. This place can accommodate big groups. We can also call ahead to find out if they have room for your group. Not that far from Hershey Park and Harrisburg Sheraton. - Noga Delshad

Classic American diner. I enjoyed my omelette with rye toast and coffee. The waitstaff is very friendly and accommodating. Plenty of locals here and good for visitors to Harrisburg as well.

Comfy cool and not too big this little diner is cute and a great place to eat for two! Everything is alright when your hungry go before they close at nine!
(4)Jared R.
My friend and I stopped in for breakfast while visiting the area. We were sat promptly and given menus. After that is where the service fell threw. After deciding we sat there for about 10 minutes and we finally got the attention of one waitress and asked her to send ours over. Ours at the stool counter in front of the kitchen came over and apologize for not seeing us. She was rather busy serving the standard customers who sat at the stools. Finally we ordered and the food was about average. It was served quick and hot. The coffee was extremely strong. Over all the food was fine. Nothing outstanding but solid food.

Classic diner food. Great pancakes. My teen boys got chicken tenders- even though it was during breakfast--and it wasn't a problem. They loved them. Key lime pie was weird tasting-- would not recommend. Besides that, everything was great. Service was awesome, too!
(4)Jennifer F.
This diner was fantastic all the way around. Waitress was super friendly and the food was delicious. Stooped here for breakfast the day after Hershey Park. My 11 year old son and I came in starving and left stuffed....only paying $20 total for the 2 of us. I would come back again when in the area!!! Thumbs up for this diner.
(5)Dave D.
Good food and friendly service. My son and his friend loved the chocolate chip pancakes and bacon. My wife loved the French toast. I had eggs, home fries, pancakes, bacon and toast. Everything was excellent and wasn't very expensive considering everything we had. We plan to return again tomorrow since we're only here two more days.
(4)Corinne O.
We were warmly greeted by the host/owner. His kind words truly enhanced our dining experience. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Coffee was good. Our waitress was middle of the road. All-around would recommend if you're in the area and need a quick bite.
(4)Annalise H.
Very good breakfast items at great prices. City diner accommodated our party of 12 comfortably and everything came out relatively quick. Everything we ordered was good especially the special waffles and eggs Benedict.
(5)Louis C.
Ate here a few times while working in the Harrisburg area. Ambiance is really nice. Good seats/tables. Quick host and wait staff. One day we tried their pancakes breakfast and it was excellent. Pancakes were big and fluffy, the way pancakes ought to be! On another visit I tried their meatloaf. They used brown gravy instead of ketchup, but it was very tasty. Meat was nice and moist. And the mashed potatoes on the side were very tasty! As diners go, City Line Diner is definitely a cut above the rest!
(4)Charlie L.
Okay, we just at here. I read several reviews saying how good the Eggs Benedict is, so I had to try it for myself. It was average. I went with 3 children and my wife. The potions were huge. Well worth the price. The food was typical diner fare and likewise for the taste. The staff was friendly however they did need to be reminded of several things things they forgot to being us. Overall a typical diner. So 2.5 stars.

Oh my goodness best breakfast I've had on the road. I'm extra peculiar and need over easy eggs, extra crispy bacon & toast Lightly toasted with butter. I got exactly what I ordered and this was supper time. So darn good. My hubby got mini burgers (called the hungry man special) he was happy. The service was excellent. You've got to check this place out. Go hungry!
(5)Carlos A.
Amazing experience. The Manager/Owner was great, very outgoing, and making sure everything was to our satisfaction. Staff was very friendly, and fast on the orders. The food was really good. I had steak and fries, and my wife had eggs benedict. Fresh ingredients. The price, wow. I wish i live closer to this place. Im definitely coming back in the future.

Same with Matt N. I work closeby and have passed a few times. we had the greek gyro panini for dinner $6.79... tasted decent, kitchen got all itemsout to our table quickly. They do delivery and are affiliated with Colonial Park Diner.
(4)Natalie R.
Literally the BEST eggs benedict and freshly made crispy French toast I've ever eaten. I'm from VA but whenever I'm in PA.. I always stop in here for some good food at excellent prices. Yum!

The only reason I took my wife and her parents to the City Line Diner was to see how accurate the review was from a Deb D. on 11/21. We came to the diner on Sunday morning 11/30 after services and were met by the greeter who asked us our seating preference and I told him that a booth would be fine but I had a request of a particular waitress, namely Adrienne, (the same person who waited on Deb D. and her friends on 11/21.) She immediately made us feel as if she knew us, she was extremely friendly and brought to the table, four glasses of ice water and extra dinnerware, since the booth was only set for two persons. My in-laws are both in their 90's and she was so understanding of their dietary needs and just took everyone's order with things like "hold the butter, crispy bacon on one order, soft bacon on another, coffee with milk, and one with cream." You get the picture.... everything was delivered to the table without mistake. "Would you like catsup or hot sauce with those eggs?" "More ice water, coffee or tea?" Before we left, I spoke to the waitress to thank her for her courtesy and respect to my in-laws and wife, I also spoke to the owner about the excellent product his kitchen produces and staff delivers. We did stay more than a bit and talked to the family and we were given more coffee and never once were we asked to move on. So, I give 5 stars to the greeter, waitress, cook, buss boy and to the clean atmosphere of the restaurant and the restrooms.

Stopped by after away soccer game. Restaurant was clean and we had great burger and sandwich. Their french fries were one of most crispy one.
(5)Kait A.
We stopped here for breakfast on our way home from the Hershey Spa. Great breakfast food spot, very affordable, and great service.
(5)JB B.
Friendly staff. Food was great and make to order. Best I've had in a long time. I canceled my Easter Brunch reservations to come back here for breakfast again.
(5)Leslie W.
Amazing service. Came over initially to get our drink order & confirmed that she may be delayed due to take out order. Returned promptly and order came out quickly. Hash browns with onions were yummy and different. Checked on us several times throughout meal. Prices were very reasonable. More food than I could eat. Our order included #1, #8, Italian omelette and cc pancakes with Canadian bacon and hash browns. Will definitely return the next time we visit Hershey.
(5)Kim B.
I haven't been impressed by much in Harrisburg and fully expected to dislike this place. I couldn't have been more wrong. The food was delicious and reasonable. I was even more impressed with the friendly service. Overall I would go back to enjoy this quaint place.
(4)Trish H.
Stopped by this diner on our way through town as Yelp review was good and a local advised it was good. The service was good. Waitress was very friendly and kept drinks filled. The food was another story...at best it was adequate. I had the City Melt and it was just Ok. I was told it was like a patty melt, but it was on Texas toast and had some sort of white processed cheese. My partner had the chicken salad club. It had so much vinegar he could barely eat half the sandwich & he is a healthy eater! When we asked why there was vinegar in chicken salad, the waitress said sometimes they use left over marinated chicken so you never know what you'll get! Not a good surprise when one is expecting traditional chicken salad. Would give 2 stars for the food but gave 3 as service was good.

Such a great restaurant the owner tifa is a great owner. The waitresses are to sweet. I love it there. I will keep.going back
(5)Mark B.
Starting day #2 of our southern migration in Harrisburg we had breakfast at the City Line Diner. The food was adequate diner food, though the home fries were closer to browned mashed potato cake than real diner home fries. We did not see any signature specialties on the menu and it is not the bargain that other reviews suggest. The owner and staff were friendly and helpful, so it was a pleasant experience. It's fine if you are in the nabe, but I wouldn't go out of my way (not even a couple of blocks) to go back.
(3)Pam T.
Visited today on the recommendation if Yelp. OMG! Amazing food! Had eggs Benedict and husband had sausage gravy! Aside from the food, the service was impeccable! Place was clean and price was downright cheap!
(5)Mercedes K.
I was here Sunday morning for breakfast and the service was just excellent I was surprised how fast the food came out nice and hot and was delicious my waitress was excellent and very attentive even though the restaurant was packed the service was outstanding I recommend this GEM to all the people I know
(5)Roger G.
Thanking Siri for finding this gem for us! My first thought when I was greeted by a seemingly overly-charming foreigner was trepidation in this old fashioned, red-state, all-American town. It was not what I expected, that's all. I have found a heavy dose of charm hides faults some times so I was extra on guard. Other first impressions? Full parking lot, mostly regular locals, a good mix of old, young, singles at the full counter, families and construction workers. Those clues serve me well and I was glad to stop. I observed the hosts were greeted very warmly by most customers like they were family. And the hosts and staff seemed to know every customer and greeted everyone like they were family too. I'm traveling and very rarely observe this sort of interaction between restauranteur and customers. Maybe in some fancy upscale places but I wasn't expecting that in Harrisburg. Atmosphere is important but food and price are my other standards to judge. 5 stars on price! There are as many specials on the board as on the menu. Baked oatmeal $4? I'll try it. That was great! I fed myself, grandma and 2 six year olds a full breakfast for $20. Not $21. $20!!!! This restauranteur is the real American model of success. He would succeed anywhere. The charm is natural and infectious. I will return every chance I get to see the pleasant people in this charming place. And for the good food and prices!
(5)Andrew B.
Food was great. Service was good. Only draw back is the parking lot. Overall good diner.
(4)Martin M.
We were staying in Harrisburg for a few days and ended up eating breakfast here three days in a row. The food was hot and delicious, the service was great. I didn't walk away hungry and found myself not really needing to eat lunch! Great prices and food.
(5)Peter Y D.
Best Breakfast Ever!! Eggs over easy, perfect: home fries with onions, crispy on the outside, moist and soft on the inside; corn beef hash, canned, as in most places, but cooked to perfection, crunchy on the outside. Spouse had Greek omelet, spinach with feta, perfect. Coffee as good as you can get. Cheap prices. And the BEST waitress I've ever had. Friendly, quick service, with a big smile. She took care of the little kids in the next booth like they were her grandchildren. I don't know why there's not a line out the door.
(5)Hildy G.
We have business in Harrisburg and have traveled here several times in the past few months. We feel lucky we found City Line Diner during our first visit because it has become our go-to when we're just hungry for good food. I'm a breakfast-any-time eater, and how could one argue with real fresh hollandaise with real crisp-yet-tender potatoes? My partner loves chicken and has had it served many different ways here, always fresh and well prepared. It's just what a diner should be - good reliable food at a great price with pleasant and attentive service.
(5)Pete D.
We went there because of Yelp reviews and we weren't disappointed. Diner food at it's best! My wife had breakfast for supper and loved it. I had the hungry man's special (mini burgers, onion rings, fried cheese and chicken strips). It was all very good and the server was polite and fast.
(4)Matt N.
I drive by this restaurant every day on the way to work and noticed the breakfast special sign on our way to dinner so I suggested stopping in to try it out. The parking lot was about 3/4 full, but we were seated quickly and our order was taken fast also. The menu is simple however they have plenty of specials as you walk in. They had a hash brown casserole and banana nut pancake listed in addition to the crab benedict on the dry erase board. The place was busy but we still got our food pretty fast. My son enjoyed Mickey Mouse chocolate chip pancakes with chocolate milk and sausage links. It is nice to see a kids menu that isn't your regular everyday things and I tried the Belgian Waffles with Cherry topping my wife ordered. I had the crab benedict which was good, but it tasted like a crab cake with breading under the nicely cooked eggs and tasty hollandaise sauce. I found the service to be adequate, however I was not a fan of the coffee like Jane B said it is your basic diner cup o' Joe. I will come back for a second taste based on the level of service and the prices are reasonable. I don't consider it the best I have had, but it met expectations and I like the added convenience of free wi-fi.
(4)Tony T.
Stopped by for breakfast on a Saturday - service was attentive and quick. Portions are very generous. I had a waffle and a side of home fries. HF's were perfectly crispy. Prices are great. 2 adults and a kid for less then $20.
(5)Tina M.
Holy Smokes! Best breakfast I have enjoyed maybe ever. The staff worked together like an efficient and well oiled machine and the chef and his crew whipped up an incredible meal, including a Spanish omelette panini, bacon... Crispy like I asked (finally someone gets it right) and a French toast treat with berries on top. This French toast breading was like a magical French pastry. The owner was so professional yet genuine and down to earth. What an impressive establishment. Will absolutely be back!!!
(5)Mark J.
Food was ok. Eggs, pancakes, french toast, hash browns, sausage and bacon all fine. Service was friendly.
(3)Patti Z.
stick to the basics and you will be OK. don't order the steak for breakfast very bland
(2)O M.
Went here with group of 8. Delicious bacon and cornbeef hash. Pancakes were springy and delicious. Two omelets we ordered were quite mushy and toast was barely toasted. Did try the scrapple, which was good. I recommend avoiding the omelets but the rest is good.
(3)Doug W.
This is your classic diner: a pages long menu from soup to nuts; hearty breakfast and heavy dinners. Great prices and your coffee cup never goes dry. Not on the beaten path, it is worth the effort to get off the Interstate and check this place out.
(4)Luke S.
Arrived this morning so excited to try this place out, considering the great reviews on yelp. There was no service at this place, after waiting 2 minutes to be seated (with no line and plenty of empty booths) we sat in a booth for 5 minutes with no drink no server nothing... We walked out without a word from anybody, even the manager saw us walk out.

Looking for a place to have breakfast while in Harrisburg on vacation. Typical diner food. It fit the bill perfectly. Ordered French Toast, Pancakes, Eggs w/ peppers, Onions & cheese, Oatmeal & sides of Home-fries & Bacon. Was it like homemade no. The Pancakes & French Toast we typical Diner ones. Nothing special but good. (At least the syrup DID NOT come from a plastic container) Eggs, Bacon & Home-Fries were very good. Oatmeal was plain just needed a little more flavor. Overall would go here again, just don't expect to be wowed. Service was very good.
(4)Michael C.
My family and I ate here while on vacation. The service was very fast and the waitress was extremely helpful and nice. My wife and I had eggs Benedict and it was one of the best that we had in quite a while. The home fries were delicious, crunchy on the outside, soft in the inside and seasoned perfectly. They also came with sautéed onions. Daughter had a cheese burger and said it was so good it didn't even need ketchup! Overall the experience was very good and we will definitely come back again when we are in the area.
(4)Alison S.
I've met friends for breakfast here many times, and usually it's decent. Not great, nothing special, but decent and very, very fast.
(2)Jane B.
Sunday morning..busy busy busy. We were seated quickly and given coffee ( sorry, the coffee tasted like hospital coffee-- instant). Finally had a waitress take our order ( she was very friendly) and ordered the steak and eggs as well as the #5 (scrapple/eggs/hash browns, and toast). Then we waited, and waited, finished our coffee and waited. The meals finally came, mine sans toast, no ketchup on the table..so again, we waited for the server to come back and check on us. She was MIA. The owner/manager finally came by and we did get the toast and ketchup. The food was tasty, albeit not hot when it first was delivered. I can not say the food was bad, in fact we rather enjoyed the meal. Service - will re-evaluate another time as it was packed and that may have impacted overall service. It was very friendly and will definitely try it again.
(4)Ryan J.
The food was good. Had the chocolate chip pancakes and home fries. The pancakes were good not great and the home fries were better than the pancakes. My only complaint is that the bathrooms could have been more clean.
(4)Susan F.
Not a bad little dinner. We decided to try here based on other good Yelp reviews. I had a chicken gyro which was delicious. The fries are crispy and wonderful. Service was great. They have a huge case with desserts on display. I tried the Mango Cake for dessert which was alright, but not as wonderful as I had hoped for. Good dinner options for the kids too! It was a very family friendly restaurant. I would return again if we were in the area!
(5)Nancy S.
The best meal we had during our visit to the Hershey Park area. Yes, it was only breakfast but it was so much better than the restaurants we visited during our stay. Sorry Yelpers...we followed your recommendations on the other restaurants and it didn't work out, except for the City Line Diner. The service was excellent, quick and the food came out piping hot. I had eggs, sunny side up, and they were done perfectly. The home fries were crispy, yet tender and delicious. My hubby had the french toast. Mind you, he's very, very, picky about his french toast and I laugh at him because he is so picky! He loved his meal! The syrup was brought out in a cute little container instead of commercially made packets. The best thing was, customers would come in and the servers would say..."Would you like your usual?" Obviously a hometown place but they made us feel as if we were one of the regulars! I wish we lived close enough to come to City Line Diner more often. Next time we visit, we're coming for dinner! :)

Great Prices: Appetizers + Soup + 2 Sandwiches + 2 desserts for $30 Very clean: Cleanest diner I've been in. Newly gutted and rebuilt in mid-2010 I think. Service: No problems with the waiter. Kept our glasses filled and asked us often if everything was alright. Dessert: Try the Mango Cake, Mousse Mice, or Cheesecake! They take the time to drizzle the chocolate on the plate to make it look 'fancy'. It's a nice extra touch I haven't experienced in other diners in the area. Overall: My new favorite diner! Unless I am mistaken, Free WiFi available too. I never used it. Also to note: This diner USED to be called "Paxtang Diner", which got horrible reviews. New owners gutted and revamped the diner into the "City Line Diner" in 2010. Please take this into consideration if you do see any other reviews.
(5)Dan S.
As a residnet of Paxtang, the City Line Diner has been a great addition. Huge number of menu options and the ownership and staff are thoughtful and really care about the presentation and quality of the food and the experience of their guests. Customers are guests at the City Line Diner - as simple as that. Have never had a bad meal at the City Line Diner and I love going there. The Mediterranean bread appetizer is excellent! Recommend you make the stop at the Diner and meet the owner, Tefa and his family and his extended family (his employees)!
(5)Richard W.
Being "empty nesters" we eat out more often than we should and have frequented numerous restaurants in the area. Someone suggested the City Line Diner and am I glad that I tried it. We go there about three times a week and have never been disappointed. Food is outstanding, the prices are very reasonable and the service is much better than I experience at other restaurants. The restaurant is so very clean and the menu has something for everyone. Good quality food!!
(5)Wayne S.
I stopped in for lunch yesterday with my wife and noticed the spacious and clean parking lot as well as the nice outer appearance of the restaurant. Inside, it is bright and cheerful and the folks who run it are very decent and nice people. I ordered the Mediterranean panini and my wife had a cup of chili and Greek salad. Prices seemed reasonable. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly and made sure our drinks were refreshed and that we enjoyed our meals. Although we didn't have dessert, I found out they are made on the premises (cakes, baklava, tirimasu, etc) and we decided we would try one next time we return. Nice diverse demographic range of diners, which is nice to see when you go out to eat. Definitely a good sign. We plan to return in the near future.
(4)Terri C.
I just heard about this place and decided to find directions for it on googlemaps.com . After reading the reviews we headed there for a meal. I think that we were both surprised at how clean the inside of the diner is. The wait staff was very friendly. I ordered coffee and was served a small carafe which is a real treat. The coffee was excellent !! I also visited the restrooms before our food arrived and was pleased with the cleanliness and that there were paper towels. We ordered an open-faced turkey sandwich, coleslaw, fries and a well-done burger. My companion states that her burger was excellent and we both agreed the fries were terrific. The bill was reasonable considering the amount of food and the quality. Overall, our experience was a very good one and I look forward to our next visit there. Thanks for a great meal !!
