Hands down my favorite place for brunch in Harrisburg. Chef Ben is absolutely fantastic when it comes to food, and the mimosas are pretty great too, especially when they come in a large pitcher to share! Highly recommended. Check out more of our review here: wanderlustandsweets.com/…

1 Star yes I chose 1 star and here is why. My husband and a very good friend of ours decided to try Cafe 1500 last evening (9/12/2015). I like the look of the restaurant but for a Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. there were very few patrons. I did not let that bother me as I had looked at their website and was impressed at the menu selections. On with the evening, I chose to start my meal with the warm Caprese salad and my husband chose the calamari. All seemed well, we were enjoying the flavors and then there it was....HAIR. In both appetizers. Now having grown up in and around the restaurant business, I know this can happen. But I also know that judging from how a restaurant handles this type of situation, it can and will say something about them. Cafe 1500 failed miserably. Yes we received new appetizers but not once did a manager come over. We did not see the chef (again the place was not busy). We did not see a hostess....NOTHING! We decided to wait it out and moved forward with our entrees as we had already placed our order. I'll be honest, the entrees were fine. But again, I am waiting....here it comes.....the bill. NOTHING HAD BEEN CREDITED! No complimentary appetizer, no complimentary drink, NOTHING. We will not go back.

Located in a bad part of town that is making a come back and will improve when the Federal courthouse is built. The building is interesting. Parking on the street was easy. The cafe has great light but terrible acoustics. Staff were friendly, our waitress was amazing with great timing. For a Friday night it should have been busier if this place is going to survive. The menu is small but interesting. Some standards burgers, meatloaf, salads and calamari, but also a belly pork appetizer and main course, roasted Brussel Sprouts. There is a good value happy hour 5 - 7 with house wine at $5. The pizza special was very good with a nice fluffy dough and prosciutto, red onion, arugala and anchovie topping. My friend really liked the calamari, for me it needed more spice with peppers or a pepper topping or sauce. The Pork belly cassoulet was small and could benefit from a starch like fresh cut fries. The underlying beans tasted more like they came from a can than slow cooked on the premises, I think they can be easily improved. The belly pork was slow cooked and tasty however there was no crunchy crispy skin (crackling) which I think make this dish. My friends enjoyed their scallop dish but again portions were a little small for the price. There was a good duo playing in the corner who were quite good, but because of the shocking acoustic I would suggest music in this venue hurts rather than helps ambiance. It would also save them money that they could invest in larger portions. There was a couple of table outside with a raw view of the changing Harrisburg. The menu is seasonal and changing soon for Summer. I hear Cafe 1500 has a good Sunday Brunch. I will be back to try their meatloaf, and maybe sit outside. This place deserves some more customers as it has alot of potential and I hope they improve. Suggest some home made bread rolls, and add some starch to the main course dishes to start.

Very nice modern restaurant with great service, but a bit pricy. Steak and eggs salad was very delicious. Steak was cooked was well. Mussels and fries were good. Fries a bit salty and soggy from the mason jar they put them in. Mussels were just okay and for $19, it should not have been an appetizer size of mussels. Creme brûlée was okay. I've definitely had better. Overall, just another american bistro.

This is truly a gem in Harrisburg. It's a little out of the way and not in the heart of the downtown action. The food is outstanding. The mussels are to die for. Cooked to perfection. The broth was so well balanced and provided in a large pool. So, I found it surprising that the restaurant charged extra for an additional piece of bread. The tasting menu is a must. Lots of fresh servings. Tuna was killer. Not a bad wine selection. Will be back.

Drinks are solid. Food not so much. Chicken was cooked in old grease and omelette was par for the course. I wouldn't come here again for brunch. Cool vibes and neat looking happy hour. I will try this place again just not for brunch.

Was searching for a Saturday brunch spot and stumbled upon Cafe 1500. Sad to see we were the only diners at the time because our meals were delicious. I had the pork belly bene and he had the meatloaf and hash. Great flavors and big portions! Topped off with bloody Mary's and a mimosa , it was a perfect brunch. Look forward to trying again soon!

I've been here twice. The first time was during restaurant week and I was very impressed with the food and left me wanting to go back. Recently, my husband and I returned with two other couples. We all, shared the calamari and a flatbread, both of which were delicious. I ordered mussels and frites, outstanding! So good I could order this every time and be very happy. The food came out timely and was hot. The wait staff was attentive and even accommodated when we had another couple join us during the meal, on a Friday night. Great spot. Great food.

More like a 3.5. Decided to try this place out during their first night of a full bar menu. We were really looking for a good cocktail, and we definitely found what we were looking for. The Basil Gin was one of my favorite cocktail experiences of all time. It was exactly what you'd expect: herbal, semi-sweet, and super refreshing. My fiance got the tequila cocktail that included jalapenos, which was also a standout. The food didn't quite match the quality of the cocktails, but it was still enjoyable. I had the fish tacos, which I thought were a little bit bland. The fish was well cooked and the portion was right, but unfortunately they just felt like they were missing something. Maybe some fresh lime? My fiance had the Cali Chicken Sandwich and really enjoyed it. The service was ok. Our server was very personable, but there were a few times when we really could've used a drink/water refill. Had it not been for how delicious the Basil Gin was, we probably would've been one-and-done because we didn't see our server again until our food was polished off. The live band, while mostly fun to listen to, was way too loud for the space. We were on the opposite side of the dining area and conversation was completely impossible. I think an acoustic performer would be much more fitting for the space. Overall, good experience. Really nice looking place and some really enjoyable drinks. Prices were reasonable for everything we had and the quality was great overall. Will probably be back!

Totally underated and doesn't get the business it deserves thanks to it's not-so-great location. My SO and I frequently come here for brunch or happy hour and have always been really happy with it. Their happy hour has good drink specials and pretty great food specials. I think I've had most of their small plates and pizzas and I've never been let down. Their calamari is my favorite, I order it almost every time, it comes with a raspberry sauce that is unexpected and delicious (and they always humor my request for extra sauce). Their brunch menu items are also spot-on. I brought my gramma here for brunch, I love her, but this woman will complain that the sky is too blue and the only thing she could find to complain about was that the bread on her breakfast sandwich was "too thick" - a miracle! The servers/bartenders are also super nice and accomodating. A friend of mine ordered a pizza and asked them to hold the arugula, and I asked if I could have their arugula (because I'm an annoying weirdo and who doesn't like arugula?) and they actually made me an adorable little arugula side-salad. They probabaly shouldn't have enabled my slightly obnoxious request, but I loved it. The location is the only downside, but it's definitely worth venturing off the beaten path!

Just another over priced average food place with decent atmosphere. I'm from Phoenix Az, looking for good food at the right price, has turned out to be difficult in central PA. Will continue my search.

$23 for a dry, gamey pork shank. $14 for a flat spinach salad with "smoked" salmon. $13 for 2 scallops. $18 for a seafood pizza, which was less of a seafood pizza and more of a flatbread with dried salmon. We did the math, and the extremely high prices did not equate with the quality and quanity of food. Take the money and run.

Still like the place but they hit me with one of my biggest peeves today... when u frequent a place and spend significant amounts of money... it's a bit cheesy and classless to charge .50 for a tiny cup... like a ketchup cup from burger king... of extra dressing for my too dry salad. Really? Considering our bill u nickel and dime us for salad dressing is kinda insulting. So... we still like the place but I'm not going back as often... stuff like that is so short sighted... it drives customers away... so u made .50 but have lost many hundreds from this customer alone. Need to take a business 101 course... customer loyalty is something u don't throw away trying to make .50...

Solid brunch spot. Nice atmosphere and decor. Friendly staff. Don't let the neighborhood deter you, this place is worth checking out.

My husband got us reservations here for Valentine's Day and we both were pleased! Parking is lacking, but the food and service made up for it! You definitely want to eat their earlier in the day or evening -- we has a reservation for 5 (we might have been one of three tables) and it was packed by 6. Food was great and served in a timely fashion! Higher price and smaller portions than we're used to, but ingredients were fresh and everything was seasoned well. Oh, if you have a chance, order dessert. The flourless chocolate cake was incredible! Definitely will be going back again!!

Not your normal part of town for dinning, however well worth the trip! Everything was delicious and well presented and service was very good. We will go back without question. Very cool new building as well.

Best brunch in town! The Fried Chicken and Pancakes are well worth the hours in the gym. Good drinks and a chill spot from 2nd street traffic and free parking. Taco Tuesday has to be on my list of favorite happy hours in the city. Love the staff, so creative and accommodating. Thank you!

Under-rated, I dont hear enough people talking about this spot. Our server was awesome when we came in for our anniversary. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Chef Ben Beaver is my hero, he came to our table and chatted us up and even gave us amazing suggestions. The steak taco appetizer might have been the single greatest thing I have ever put in my mouth (make jokes now), but all kidding aside, truthfully it was. Support this place!

Great Sunday Brunch. Unique menu and cool atmosphere. Tried a dish, upon the server's recommendation, that I would never have tried without a recommendation (fried chicken with a fried egg over pancakes). It was fantastic.

I can't imagine anyone would find this restaurant more than mediocre-at-best, unless they have nothing to compare to. Which is actually likely, given that this is Harrisburg... Decided to try this because I had a restaurant.com gift certificate. The atmosphere is nice and modern, it's a very large space that was less than half full on a Friday evening. Overall, the restaurant looks very nice, is decorated well, and conducive to having conversation. The menu is fairly small and items are moderate to expensive in price, given the quality of the food. My dining partner and I started with the cheese plate ($12) which consisted of maybe 3-4 small slices of 3 different cheeses, pieces of toast, a small bunch of grapes and honey for dipping. It was good, but very small for the price. I had the smoked salmon salad with Chevre ($11-12?). It lacked flavor and the salmon tasted like it could have come from a can. It was flaked, cold, and had no smokey flavor to it at all. There was very little Chevre on the salad at all, so it essentially consisted of the fish and the greenery. Would not order it again if I were to return. My date for the evening had a chicken prosciutto sandwich and said it was just okay, but on the dry side. For dessert, we had the chocolate creme brulee ($6). Every place I've ever had creme brulee, it's been served warm, has a custard texture and a flambeed top. This was served room temperature, if not cooler, and tasted like instant pudding mix with a crust on top. It was obvious that it had been made earlier in the evening and was not what we were expecting. Luckily it was fairly inexpensive; otherwise I think we would have returned it. Overall we were very underwhelmed. The service was good, but the food quality is sub par and we would not return as a result.

Best soft shell crab EVER!! Great location, great service, and everything was delicious!!

I had a delicious lunch today. The 1500 Cobb Salad with salmon is to die for! The fresh basil and goat cheese really add a nice flavor to this particular take on a Cobb Salad. The soup of the day was tomato bisque which had the best taste for a tomato soup that I've ever had! This restaurant has only been open for a month and I've never had a negative experience. The decor is beautiful and the service was top notch! I'm looking forward to dinner Thursday-Saturday 5-10 starting November 1st!

I was here recently for brunch -- finally! I've been wanting to try this place since it opened. I had the lox benedict & coffee. The portion was large and the dish was tasty, although I'm not sure why there was a pickle slice in it. The prices were appropriate (this isn't McDonald's, people!) By the time we left, the place was packed, so definitely make a reservation. The atmosphere was casual, trendy, and the space is large enough so that it isn't really super loud and you're able to have a conversation without raising your voice. I especially liked the bar area and the corner with sofas & overstuffed chairs -- nice area to relax before or after dinner. The space has an urban industrial feel to it, something different for Harrisburg. Overall, it had a nice vibe to accompany the good food. Parking on the street is easy and free as long as it's not a street-cleaning day. There are no meters in this part of town. It's a great place for dinner before heading down the street to the Midtown Cinema.

This was our second Saturday brunch. First time was outstanding. Today, two items on their very limited were brunch menu, they were out of. Coffee was so so. The food mediocre. We might try it again. But while the one server they had on staff today was a good guy, we had to walk up to bar for refills. Sad to see the decline in just a month between visits. Went back a 3rd time and it's gotten much worse. Won't go back
