Laminated drink menu with all American drafts. A few local brews on the bottles list, but seriously. I can drive to at least 5 breweries and 3 wineries and your beer list is ALL big name, crap beer? And it's in a spiral bound, laminated book? Jeez. If you're going to be a bar, at least TRY to be a bar. I know there's a demographic that really digs the dive bar vibe, but I am not part of that demographic. I ordered a beer and the pretzels. I got some microwaved sauce with a nice and disgusting film on top. Needless to say, I didn't try it. The pretzels were fine, but also probably cooked in a microwave. One saving grace is that the deck is very nice. A few pretty trees shield you from the road, so enjoyable to sit outside. Just ignore the creepy service and don't order anything to eat. Or drink.

I always wanted to go here when this place was Sasha's. Never made it. Now I am not a drinker, and the fact that I am not almost makes me feel bad fro writing a review here because most everyone is ranting about the beers, but I go for the food. I've been here several times, each time expecting to be wowed more than before, but the results have been staggering. The first time I ate here I shared a Meatball Slider appetizer. It was decent, and the meal to follow wasn't bad either, but I don't feel that the price was justified. Also, on this particular visit the place was hellishly hot. I mean unbearable. And the server didn't seem to acknowledge our remarks about it. The second time I came I got the Chicken Pie. It really didn't look that good, and it didn't taste all that great either. Looking at the interior, I think Sasha's would have been a better experience, but sadly they are gone and this is left in its place. Again, if I were going out to drink I might have a greater appreciation for the joint, but as it stands as a restaurant I could take it or leave it.

So, time for a 3rd review of the Blue Moose...we've been going on a more consistent basis, and I have to say that the service has definitely been improving each time. We usually have great servers, and try to sit away from the bar area when possible. Definitely suggest the wings, and my hubby loves the grownup mac and cheese. One of our regular places to go now. Glad we kept giving it a shot!

The draft beer is the coldest around!! The menu definitely needs something. Every time we go we are lost when it comes to ordering. They need to add nacho's....both supreme and just with cheese. A spinach dip, grilled chicken sandwich, and chicken fingers would be awesome. The sweet potato fries are a very small portion for almost $3. We go for the beer but always leave their hungry!! PLEASE make some additions to your menu!!!

The Blue Moose is located about a mile east of the Linglestown Square. It's a sports bar/restaurant that is bit more upscale than others in the area, such as Ted's or Arooga's. They offer a decent selection of craft beers, along with the more familiar ones on tap. The food is well prepared. I had the special of the day, the seafood lasagna, which was a cross between a regular lasagna and a pot pie. I received a generous portion with plenty of seafood in the dish. I enjoyed it, although I wished they had made it with bigger shrimp, instead of baby shrimp, and that there was a little less surimi (fake crab). My dinner partner ordered the coconut shrimp and liked it very much. The clam chowder was also very good, creamy, but not thickened with cornstarch, as it is in so many places. We did not experience the poor service that several other people complained about in their reviews. Our server was competent and reasonably attentive.

This place really is down home goodness. You get great sized meals worth the price. They have things on the menu from burgers to fish to Mac and cheese and chilli. There pot pie is also very good but "does" have mushrooms in it. I'm not one to sit at the bar, but if I was this bar is full and friendly every time I go in. There are TVs all over the place with sports on if you wanna catch the game or just relax. Lastly there is a side room for pool tables and hanging out. Also a pretty common and busy. Give this place a shot if you haven't yet!! It's a central PA must try. Not to mention in the summer there is a pretty massive deck.. although I haven't had the opportunity to eat out there yet, I'll just have to try it come spring/summer!

their wings are worth the wait - huge and flavorful. overall i've never had a bad experience with their food and i've been there on several occasions but have had mostly appetizers. i knocked it down to 4 stars because the service was flaky on my last visit.

Not a fan really. Been here several times and have had both good and bad experiences. In the summer the deck is nice but inside is dingy and drafty - really unpleasant in winter when it's cold. And it can get loud. Yeah its more a bar than a restaurant. If you're going for that you may like it. Food is mostly just "ok" but I do recommend the fish tacos. They were really good.

Unbelievable. We are from Jersey and were here in Harrisburg for the day. Found this jem on Yelp and had a fabulous experience. Drinks were cold. Food was just as I ordered. The corn fritters are to die for. Wings were crispy. Order them with the Moose Magic Sauce!!! Staff is inviting and friendly. In the future I will travel 2 1/2 hours just to eat here. Thank you Blue Moose!!!

4 nights in Harrisburg, 4 trips to the Blue Moose. Friendly locals and staff, every meal has been very good. If you're on the east side of the river it's about a 20 min drive, but well worth it.

Ordered the adult Mac and Cheese and the portion size was perfect, just enough to fill you up without that "blech" feeling. It was delicious, and definitely something you won't find anywhere else. My husband ordered the pork shank, and was extremely satisfied with his meal. The bar has a nice range of mixed drinks and beers to choose from, all reasonably priced. This is my fourth visit, and I'll definitely be back!

Driving through Harrisburg and found this place through Yelp. Food was delicious! I had the Vegan Strudel (I'm not a vegan or vegetarian) and glad I did. I wanted something light and this strudel has sautéed veggies and vegan cheese wrapped in phyllo dough. Very filling and it tasted very fattening! My husband had a huge burger called the Monster Moose. 2 third pound patties, fried onion petals, fried mac n cheese bites with BBQ sauce. He didn't even eat half and had to stop. He said it was fantastic but make sure you are very hungry! The reason I gave this place a 4 because of dessert. I had the vanilla bean creme brûlée and it was just ok. I am a snob about creme brûlée and theirs had problems. First of all it was curdled a little. Should have been smooth and creamy. Second, I had no vanilla bean in mine. Probably a mixing problem?? Tasted fine but needs work

If you are interested in beer go for it. The food is another matter. The ingredients are not fresh. The fish tacos are uninspiring with minimal vegetable and fish filling in a taco. The Italian cold cut should be renamed the "Lettuce Sub" with a couple of cold cut slices. I'd have ordered the Philly steak and cheese but the waitress didn't know if the steak was cut on the premises or steak'ems and did not offer to find out. The corn fritters came with maple syrup on them which detracted from the experience in my opinion. Why this place has good reviews is beyond me. The only positive was it was fairly quiet for a sports bar.

Seated and served promptly. Angus burger and crab cake both high quality at amazing prices. Beautiful outdoor covered deck with ceiling fans. The corn fritters definitely lived up to the hype!

Been here a few times. We keep coming back because of the food. The service could be improved on. We have had a few bad experiences. Specifically, went out with a few friends to see a live band on a Friday night sitting at a table inside. They were out of a beer on their list which was disappointing. Our waitress had some tables on the deck and a few inside. It seemed like she spent a lot of her time on the deck and would constantly walk by us, not asking if we needed anything. We had to wave her down to get some drinks. When she did stop by, it was when the band was playing, very loudly. She also gave my friend attitude when he informed her that she had forgotten to put a drink on his bill (trying to help her out). I would recommend this place solely on the food.

Tried this place out during the week. No real crowd, but you could tell the place could fit a high school football stadium sized crowd! Okay, an exaggeration, but it is a big place. Nice atmosphere with a cool deck. I was looking forward to my meal after seeing the place. I ordered a cosmopolitan with Stolis (a very smooth flavor.) I was served the standard house vodka. (I could smell it immediately.) I asked to verify I was served Stolis. Server told me it was the Stolis I asked for. I struggled to drink my nail polish remover cosmopolitan. I ordered salmon with rice pilaf. It was flavorless, and tasted like water. Not fresh, tasted like it had been frozen for a long time. Or maybe it was the nail polish remover that removed all my taste buds. I haven't gone back. Overpriced and dishonest. Has potential, as it has nice atmosphere.

Love the food here, I haven't had one thing i didn't like. Can get a little crowded in there and occasionally not waited on well. For instance one time i had ordered an app and the waitress forgot to put it in and another time it took forever to get my drinks refilled. Other than that i like going here. They have trivia during the week too, which is fun.

Everything we ordered was great. Fish tacos, chowder, chicken pot pie, corn fritters. All yum. Servers were friendly and helpful. Great local pub.

great place! the bar/restaurant is really spacious, and there's a gorgeous outdoor patio as well. the food was delicious, the service was great, and our server (Sarah) was really friendly. we loved it and will definitely go back!

Went back for dinner expecting the same service and food. We ordered the wings and they were really good, but got the moose sauce that the waitress said was hot. It was not hot in the least. I was disappointed. I am gluten free and got the crabcakes and the greenbeans. The food came out right after the wings. We ordered water and soda and were looking at the drink menu. She never brought us a refil, or asked us if we wanted from the bar as she said she would. I really needed one that evening. Service was bad. Food came out and my crabcakes were hard and not very hot. It was very loud in the restaurant are and there really aren't a lot of tables for the space. Not as good the second time around. After a $50 dinner it would have been nice to have something to wash it down with, at the very least.

What a nice little surprise this was. The food was great, service was outstanding (thanks to Cat...our server), and the beer choices were plenty and tasty. We had the crab/cheese dip with soft warm pretzels to start. Very delicious. I had the crab cake dinner with sweet potato fries and green beans. The food tasted like it was made in your mom's kitchen. Loved it! We sat on the outdoor patio...the atmosphere is lovely. Eat here!

Food was great!! I got the pork shanklets, they had a good kick to them. Overall portions are on the small side but the quality of the food is outstanding! Next time I would get the Chicken pot pie.

This five star rating is for the wings. We have been there twice.... Each time for wings and wine. These are the best wings we have ever had. The chicken was very fresh tasting. The wings were cooked to perfection, not super crunchy, yet delicious. Mild, bone in. Need I say more?

Came in tonight for dinner. Didn't even eat. We were sat and immediately heard a server talking to the hostess about how she was seating people too separated from each other. Saw two servers pass us multiple times without even acknowledging us. Two tables were sat after we came in and one was gotten drinks and the other greeted while we still were not even seen. I work in a restaurant and I understand the struggle, but we waited for twenty minutes without being observed at all. Actually one server did look at us multiple times as if we were rude for coming into the restaurant, and still didn't even try to interact. Before we left I saw they had one more server and as we left she said to have a great night without even noticing our table was still fully set. The hostess was oblivious to everything and I would not come in again with the lack of service provided.

We tried the Blue Moose for the first time this evening. I had never heard of it before seeing it included in PennLive's hidden gems article. The casual atmosphere appealed to me after looking at their web site, and I got to pick the restaurant so decided to try it. We got really lucky and immediately found a parking space in the crowded lot, and got even luckier when we got seated promptly without a reservation. There were many people waiting for tables but I think they must have been larger parties and we lucked out with a just vacated two-top. The quick whirlwind ground to a halt once we were seated and the rest of the experience happened in slo-mo. It took a long time for our server to greet us and take a drink order. By the time she arrived, we had already decided what to order but she sked our drink choices and ran away too quickly for us to order apps. When she came back with our beer and cider ( note they have great daily beer specials), we ordered boneless wings for our app, the hubby chose cornflake crusted tilapia for his entree and I chose the pork shanks. Salads arrived before the wings. The low fat zinfandel dressing was a little too sweet for me but the salad had a nice assortment of veggies and was fresh and crispy. Wings came next. We started on them, and they were darn good. Crispy and nicely hot and saucy. But by this time our drinks were empty and the waitress wasn't coming back. So we were dry during the wing experience. Finally my second drink came, but we had to wait several more minutesl for hubby's beer. We sat and waited a long time before the entrees came, and most of that time, hubby didn't even have a drink to sip on. Finally the entrees came, and THEN the beer. We both liked our main dishes. The tilapia was crispy and light, and the pork shanks were tender with plenty of smoky sweet barbecue sauce. The green beans I ordered as a side were just OK, a little undercooked and underseasoned. Hubby liked his coleslaw. After another big wait, we got our check and the server came back quickly to pick it up. The whole experience took about two hours, much longer than the quick Friday night casual bite I expected. But the food was good and I think we will try the Blue Moose again on a less busy night.

Went on a Friday night and received quick seating and friendly service. Found the menu to be a little overpriced, so opted to share the mac and cheese skillet. The pasta was overcooked and poorly drained, which made the cheese watery. In addition, the cheeses used were flavorless and greasy. We did not finish the dish and instead went home and made dinner. Two stars for the service, not the food.

Loved this place! The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy, the staff is friendly, and the food is amazing...and home-made! They menu has a nice variety, really good wings- huge and cooked perfectly, well worth the wait for fresh wings!!! The Chicken Cubano is super delicious! Grilled chicken topped with banana peppers, pickles, ham and melted swiss on a toasted spanish roll. I had a bite of the Meatloaf too which was moist and flavorful, not sliced from a larger piece, but an individual loaf...smart! They serve a nice-sized martini, at an even nicer price. There was a nice beer selection too, although I'm not a beer drinker. The bartender has a great personality, and very helpful, I think she has eaten everything on the menu- twice, for as much knowledge as she had. I will definietely be back, there are so many other items on the menu I can't wait to try. This isn't pre-packaged food, so it takes a little time, which I like, let the rest of life be in a hurry, when I eat, I want to slow-down and enjoy!

I seriously love this place. Went last night ... had been there a few times before but never had their bone-in wings til last night. I was weary that the menu said they were large bc I thought they would be fatty. However they were perfect...even crispy. I was impressed.

Super awesome - drove by this place all the time and now have been there twice in one week! Service can be lacking and food takes a bit, but it's delicious! Pork shanks, short rib sandwich, pork steak, chicken pie, it's all good. Don't forget homemade desserts!

Just LOVE IT .... Food is good and the service is awesome. Loved their outdoor sitting deck. They have wide range of Beer and Vodka selection. I would definetly go on a nice summer evening ... their deck is the star.

This is a fantastic bar and restaurant. The beer selection is great, food is consistently excellent, and the staff is absolutely outstanding and friendly. We stopped going to almost all other restaurants after we found this gem!

This place is awful. I've been to this place 3 different times and each visit was disappointing. Service is best described as poor and the food is average. On my last visit, my wife asked for additional tortilla chips with our dip and she was told that we would have to pay for them. WTF!? They put out a small portion and expect the guest to pay for their short sightedness. It's a shame because I could walk to this bar, but I'd rather get in my car and drive elsewhere.

Stopped in at The Moose tonight after getting ready for the holiday. I needed some comfort food and a stiff drink, and that's exactly what I got!!! I tried the clam chowder....omg, felt like I was back in New England! And then ordered the salmon topped with this yummy lemon dill sauce....I don't normally order salmon around this area, but I wanted to stick with the comfort seafood theme, and am so glad I did! The salmon was a nice-sized portion and the sauce was made in house and def not skimpy! I sadly didn't have room for dessert....but I will be back for that mocha creme brûlée! This place is such a good bang for your buck...fills my belly without emptying my wallet. It's been awhile since I've been in here, I see some new things on the menu that I can't wait to try.

My new favorite spot. Been there a dozen times now and have not had one bad experience. Wings are really great... love the fish tacos... corn fritters are excellent comfort food. I tried their fried pbj the one night and even that was really tasty!! They have a new chicken cuban that is really good too. Never had an actual dinner there but their bar food and drink specials are the best!
