I typically try to avoid national chains but we were driving around trying to find a place to eat. We ate in the sushi side rather than hibachi. The place was practically empty. Sushi was edible, but mostly sub-par. One specialty roll (which was semi-fried, topped with jalapenos) did stand out above the others. Waitress seemed oddly confused and didn't speak much English.

Went here for lunch a few weeks back to send off a boss who was retiring. I'd stopped in here several times over the years, and the place hasn't changed. That's both a good thing and a bad thing. The decor is consistent, and you expect what you get. The food is so-so, but not very plentiful. The service was decent, but I'd had much better chefs doing the cooking at the table (including a couple of them in Jamaica). The prices were rather high for what I ended up with. I suppose it's a good place to go for a different experience than usual, but after you've seen it once or twice, the novelty has worn thin.

I had a visit here with family for Mother's Day and I was very underwhelmed. The actual restaurant is quite nice, but the food was meh. The service, however, was pretty good, with prompt refilling waters and food coming in a timely fashion. I was excited to see the diverse menu and hibachi tofu option, rather than just the usual veggies with rice. I started with the iced green tea, which tasted water down. Next we were served onion soup which was decent. The salad that was served after was horrendous though. The dressing was lumpy and the flavor was poor. Many people at the table left theirs. For my main course I had tofu with fried rice. The tofu was fine, but undercooked in my opinion. The veggies were a sad combo of onion and mushrooms. I am used to seeing more variety. Considering the prices and the $3 extra charge for the fried rice, I was highly disappointed. My expectations were not met or food or the hibachi show. The chef was fun, but the show was less involved than I am used to. I will not be returning.

Dinner for seven on 3/30/13. My daughter chose this place to celebrate her 8th birthday. We had thankfully had a reservation, as the place was Packed! Food was still pretty tasty, but I'm convinced that it will never be excellent. Decent enough chow, but you're there really for the show. We had six entrees and 2 beers which set us back $202 - pricey evening. Kids like it, and now my son wants to celebrate his 6th birthday here - copy cat! At least we've broken the Friendly's spell :) Good service, crappy (pardon the pun) bathrooms - toilet was blocked. Facility is really starting to show its age.

We go to Benihana's fairly regularly. It is one of my families favorite places. However, I tired to take my mom out to lunch today at the Harrisburg, PA location at noon. They wouldn't serve us lunch, only dinner entrees. I get that it is Valentine's day, but my mother and I just wanted to enjoy a nice lunch together on a Friday afternoon. They refused to let us order off the lunch menu after asking again, so we left. More out of principle than anything else. This to me is a very greedy way of taking advantage of people on a holiday. Well, they lost two good customers and money because of this policy.

Chef had no character. He was sad. Waite an hour from arrival to food. service is poor. Facilities are dated. Food is bland. Management clearly is too old and does not care anymore.

As always, the food was delicious and our chef was exceptionally skilled. We went there near the end of the night, about an hour before close and the only thing preventing me from giving this place 5 stars was the waitress. She didn't seem very attentive to us or our drink refills, and violated the cardinal rule of getting a bigger tip, ask me if I wanted another cocktail!

Until about a year and a half ago I hated seafood and had never dared to try sushi. It was my husband's turn to pick the place to eat for our date night and he chose Benihana. He conned me into trying the hibachi shrimp and some sushi, after I had about 3 of their absolutely fantastic mudslides. To my surprise I actually loved the shrimp and sushi. Benihana is the only place I will eat shrimp and if you are craving some great sushi I highly recommend the Las Vegas Roll.. yum yum! It is spicy and savory. I have tried a few other hibachi places and sushi at other places and Benihana has been the best. The bar is equally as awesome as the food. The mudslides rock and they also have Sapporo which my husband likes to drink. We have another date night coming up and even though I just had lunch their the other day I think we might just have to go to Benihana.

Great food and an equally great show.However... If headed there on a Saturday night, defintely make reservations as our party of six waited an hour and a half to be seated. This is not to say the spectacle and food aren't worth the wait. The Seafood Diablo is exquisitely spicy and steak juicy cooked with a masters touch. Service was superb and we'll certainly be back soon!

great high-end sushi..... almost all the people who work, own or run the sushi places in the greater harrisburg area all fujian chinese. this is the only place i can think of where the sushi chef was spanish. they do the little hibachi song and dance when they make your food, which is pretty cool to entertain guests who are not used to it. they have killer ocotopus and squid here. The selection of 'house special rolls' is also quite large. This place is usually busy, even though I havent been here in about 2 or 3 years. Food: 5 stars Decor: 4 stars Price: 3 stars.

I have been to many Benihanas in the past and have always enjoyed the food and the show. However ,this one was nothing special. The waitress was good. She was efficient and came back to the table often. I ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, but they couldn't find the bottle. Rather than offer the more expensive Sauvignon Blanc at the same price, I was offered the house Chardonnay. That was disappointing. The food was good, but overpriced and the chef had no personality. The hibachi experience is all about the show and there was no show here at all. The Chef cooked the food and left. There was no interaction with the people at the table, no throwing food into people's mouths, no aiming saki, or water in people' mouths. It was a huge yawn fest. I have been to much better independently owned hibachi restaurants that were half the price and were much better quality. Benihana is just another chain restaurant and it shows. Will I return? Definitely not.

The sake flight was awesome! Each of the three types had a different level of filtration. I got the scallops tempura as an appetizer. They were delicious. I got the Las Vegas roll: salmon, cream cheese, and avocado battered, fried, and topped with a slice of jalapeño and a spicy sauce. This is now one of my favorite cooked rolls. The cream cheese helps balance the heat and all the flavors work to make a delicious mouthful! I also got a rainbow roll, which was so fresh and tasty. Nice ambiance and a great selection of beverages.

Went to Benihanna's tonight for dinner, was really excited to try the special of striped bass with yuzu sauce, which I had received an email about. However, the server said they had run out :( did order the Vegas sushi roll as an appetizer and it was very good!!

I am so disappointed in Benihanas, it has been years since I came and I remember why now. My dad picked me up from the airport after a 2 week business trip, I hadn't eaten since 9:30am and while I was exhausted, I was also hungry. So we stopped to enjoy a nice dinner together and decided to just eat at the bar since there were only 2 of us. My dad had been a long time customer, but had stopped going as well. I was surprised when he suggested it, but being Japanese, I know how picky he can be with his sushi, so I figured why not. He started talking to the bartender who he had known from going before, if it wasn't for that, I don't know that we would have gotten drinks in a timely fashion. He was pretending to watch the baseball game, I say pretending bc my dad asked if he was a Phillies fan, he said no that he isn't into sports, he wasn't really paying attention to it, which basically meant he was just rudely putting his back to us. My dad doesn't go out often like this and we don't have much time to go together, just the 2 of us. So he was enjoying himself and having some expensive drinks. We had to ask for menus, then when we were ready to order, we had to wait another 10 minutes for the bartender to get us a server bc he apparently can't take food orders. Once we finally got the server to come, he couldn't answer any questions, so he had to keep leaving to find out, adding an extra 15 minutes to ordering. My dad asked if he could get a plain tuna roll and was told no bc it wasn't on the menu...why would they not make that when they have the ingredients and they make the rolls per order?! Whatever, he placed his order and received such a tiny portion, I was shocked bc the cost wasn't tiny! I had a sushi roll and then ordered a seafood dish. After 45 minutes our waiter was apologetic saying the 5 chefs were all working on party tables, but that they were prepping our food. My dad ordered just the noodles, a side, not a meal. He didn't want a whole meal, just a side of noodles. Well the server placed the order for plain noodles and it took over 1 hour and 15 minutes to literally get plain noodles...no sauce, no meat, no veggies in it. We were dumbfounded. My meal, which was placed first, still hadn't come out. My dad had enough, asked for the bill, which they gave us w all of the food that was ordered and never received on it. He threw down cash and left, with employees standing around and the restaurant not being that full, the service at least should have been better and maybe we wouldn't have been so angry. We tried being understanding, but at every turn, something else stupid happened. They are lucky he threw the cash down bc I would've called a manager over. We will never go back, what an awful way to run a business!

It's a rather typical sushi place, where you know exactly what you'll get for your money. Positive: fish is fresh, chefs are friendly. Negative: the service is slooooow. Took me 25 minutes to get my spicy seafood soup. By the way, the soup was good. People here know how to cook shrimp, fish and squid together.

I always walk out of Benihana completely satisfied. Although, some wallets may not be. It's a pretty pricey place, but the food is delicious and the employees are great. Never a let down! For your birthday, you get ice cream, cake and also a picture for your keepsake... So give them your best smile! =)

Just leaving & after not visiting for a few years I can say it will be more than a few if I ever return. First the bathrooms are not the exact image of cleanliness. There's no toilet seat covers, the toilet seats had urine on them & the floor was littered with toilet paper & paper towels. After washing my hands & locating the trash can I understand why. You open the can with a hand push button HOWEVER the can is covered in filth. After being seated it took over 20min to submit our drink orders only to wait another 20+min to receive them. Hibachi style restaurants usually have awesome service. Besides our cook the service left ALOT to be desired. Our sushi didn't come until we had our rice & veggies from our meals on our plates & I heard people from 2 other tables complaining about how long their's was taking. I requested the chopstick adapters for the children in our party 3 different times before our cook had one of the helpers (not our server) get them. When our meal was complete our server came to ask if any of us would like to purchase dessert or ice cream to go along with our cake but acted surprised & annoyed when we requested the ice cream/sorbet that was stated to be included with our meals. It was my sisters birthday & although patrons in other sections were sang to we had trouble even getting a knife & plates for our cake. After receiving our checks it took 20-30 min for our server to come back for payment & we ended up walking to the register to obtain our cards after another 15min wait. I would have been a lot more forgiving with our wait times had the restaurant been very crowded. There were 3 other tables besides ours & 3 servers & at least 2 "helpers" that I saw. The cooks were very friendly & put on a great show while preparing our meals. I have no complaints of the food.

Sashimi was good. Not amazing, but not bad. My steak was extremely tough which isn't usually the case here. I got lobster as well because it was my birthday but it tasted like chlorine water. My piña colada tasted as if it was non-alcoholic..? I wasn't as impressed as I usually am. However, our waiter was very attentive and good at his job; usually the servers are mere accessories here but this young man stood out.

I didn't know that they were called "hand rolls" because the chef licks his hands before rolling them. Yes, we saw it with our own eyes. No, I don't want to talk about it. We tipped the waitress on our cancelled check, explaining in front of her manager that it's "not her fault" (because it isn't). Poor girl.

DO NOT GO HERE We went here while on a Saturday night while on a weekend trip to Hershey Park. There were 9 of us from 2 families and we ended up walking out before our food arrived to be cooked. We had a waitress who was of Russian or Czech decent I believe and she has some broken English and there was clearly a disconnect. We ordered drinks and they took forever to come and two were wrong. She also acted very confused like she didn't remember who had what, etc. You know when you are at a restaurant and you can see your drinks sitting there at the bar and cant find your waitress to bring them to you. That was us for about 10-15 minutes....we were bitter! Then our salads and soups arrived. Once again total confusion and it was all wrong. No we are talking amongst ourselves and a little worried about our main course order wondering if it will be right, etc. We are waiting. Now we have been here 1.25 hours and no food and haven't seen the waitress in at least 15 minutes so I grab the manager. Short bald guy who acted like a used car salesman. Didn't really listen to me as I was trying to explain the details above to clearly express our frustrations. I also pointed out that it was 80 degrees in there and they we rent even cooking for us yet. He said he would take care of it and left. About 10 minutes later our chef came out with the food and we just told him we were leaving. So I called over our waitress and asked for our checks. The manager came over perplexed that we were leaving and it got a little ugly from there as the whole group was pissed at this point. So we left and they actually charged us for our drinks, salads, etc. So this experience put a damper on our little vacation weekend. I love hibachi places but this place is a dump and the staff are terrible. As someone else mentioned there were multiple menus with different pricing for the same stuff so watch your check.

Didn't think the food had much taste. The chef was boring and didn't put on much of a show. He only did the volcano, and hardly talked to our large party. Also the prices were a little sketchy. They brought out our bill which was handwritten, and had unlegiable writing of prices with no description next to them. There were hidden charges all over the menu I'm assuming because what I expected to be around 45 dollars turned ot to be close to 70. Not from the area but wouldn't recommend anyone come unless there is no other place around.

I've been there three times in the past 3 months. I have not had a bad experience as others have noted. No surprises on the bill, no mix ups with menu, no horrendously long wait. Some of our chefs put a bit extra into their 'show' others did not. I did not matter to me, the food was fantastic. I'm going back next week. :)

Everything was great! From the soup all the way through the main course, everything was delicious. Had the filet - it was very well prepared. Also ordered a California roll to hold us over until the main course and it was very good.

it's fun to watch your food cooked in front of you. Benihana has classed up their act since they're not the only hibachi joint in town anymore. the karaoke bar downstairs is fun and attracts good singers.

Saturday night is well.... super busy that is no surprise there but the hibachi is lovely and what suprised me was that the sushi was quite up to scratch as well. The spicy rolls could cause tears but.. I really liked it. It is pricier than other hibachi places in the area but the lounge is lovely, specially drinks are very creative and over all the place has a very nice interior. So you are really paying for all those things, if your a hibachi nut then there are many other cheaper places in the area and keep this one for a night out with friends.

I had been to a number of Hibachi places and one Benihna before this visit and this one falls in the middle somewhere in terms of quality. I would say its a good place to go for a date or celebration, but if you re looking for some place on a whim, this isn't the best choice. The food was average and portions could have been a little bigger, but it is an entertaining place to eat at when the cooks are into it. Sitting with other people at your table is also fun if they are equally engaged. We had a nice time and met some people sitting near us. Not the best value place but a good atmosphere. Sushi was decent but not great. Hibachi the same.

As much as I enjoyed my shrimp hibachi here, I still thought the portions were smaller compared to some other hibachi places I've been, Tokyo Diner for example in our area. I guess rising food prices are being felt all over. It was packed, the chefs were playful but the moves get old after a while.

PROS: Good quality sushi, but nothing great. Serves quickly. CONS: Pricey
