Diabetics must resist their temptations when dining at Applebee's. Most of the items on Applebee's menu is either stuffed with sodium or sugar. You must be extra careful and pick low-sugar and low-sodium diet at Applebee's if you are diabetic.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for Diabetics:
If you are starting your meal with appetizers then make sure you skip the Classic Buffalo sauce, Honey BBQ sauce, and sweet Asian Chile sauce on your wings order. It is highly recommended to skip the appetizers if you are dining alone and instead build your appetizer keeping nutrition in check. Among the steaks, you must stay away from the Applebee's Riblets platter as well as Bourbon Street Steak at all costs. Shrimp 'N Parmesan Sirloin is also not recommended. Skip the sandwiches, wraps, and tacos as well. Desserts may be tempting but it is recommended to avoid them at Applebee's for their high sugar content. All the beverages except Iced Teas must be avoided as well to control your sugar intake.
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure
Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.
Food Suggestions for High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol
If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.
Food Suggestions to Maintain Cholesterol Level at Applebee's
sorry to see so many people had bad experiences here. We go quite often and honestly we never had a bad meal or service. For their prices, which are reasonanable, I always thought the food was good. We must get lucky and have good wait staff as well. One of my favorite places when we need a quick bite to eat and want more than just fast food but do not want to get all dressed and and spend a fortune. update 11/12. been going here on and off for awhile now and always satisfied. I feel their food is getting even better actually and lots of different items on the menu not found elsewhere. Recently had a problem with take out order but they made it right. No complaints here..for what you pay its worth it..

I've been to this location twice and each time I have had a less than enjoyably meal. Still I decided to give it one more chance. Strike three! I don't know why people still go to Applebee's. Me personally, I would only go for the riblets but never again. The food portions are too small for the price and the beverages from the bar are nothing but fruit juice with a fancy straw. This may sound silly but if your ordering chips and salsa wouldn't you expect to gat a salsa bowl large enough to dip a chip in without having to break it in half. From now on for this type of chain dinning it's red lobster or chilis.

Wife and I had 2 different meals last night, She had the Steak and Shrimp and it was delicious, I had the rib-eye, and while I asked for it to be medium it was well done in half of the steak. The mushrooms were bland, the Ceasar salad was mediocre and the Potatoes billed as garlic mashed were merely mashed. So why 3 stars? Because when I commented about the steak not being cooked correctly, even though I didn't send it back, they took half the price off of the tab. Management seems to try to do the right thing so we'll give it another change. ( Maybe I'll try the steak and shrimp)

they're service and and food are certainly worth the price....they're cheap.....the waitresses are snobby little high schoolers with no personalities. you can't get a steak medium well without having the outside of it completely charred.....TURN DOWN THE HEAT LOSERS!!! it's ok to cook it a little slower.....JUST COOK IT RIGHT!!!

So best advice, don't go here after a concert and a beer apparently...Better yet, it's freaking applebees...Don't go at all. Not only were they rude to my veteran sister, but also to me and my father. I've come here EVERY time I'm in PA for a drink and some food....I will not be returning due to Sally, Emily and Nichole. Three women who obviously didn't want our money, and also did not make sure the food my table ordered was fully cooked. Undercooked meat can seriously harm someone and they refused to take accountability. Contacted Bryan Rogers, DM at 717-790-9744...If that is the real number. Waiting to hear back about the atrocious behavior of Nichole and Emily. Sally the manager should be ashamed at how disrespectful she was of my family. Hanging up on customers who just asked to speak to a manager after getting bad service and asking for a DM number? Really? Insunuating that someone is "Drunk and should have some water and stop slurring" right before slamming the phone down. All the while she's speaking to me in broken english sentences like she has no comprehension of how to conjugate verbs? Well, guess we'll see how this turns out. Never again will I set foot in ANY Applebee's. Thank you Sally, Emily and Nichole for helping me see the light....the lights of better restaurants. If we get food poisoning and end up in the hospital, we know who to call now! If I could I would give this place no stars at all.

Decent food at a decent price. They are usually offering some type of promotion which is worth taking advantage of, but given the location and other restaurants in the immediate area it has never been my first choice. My friend typically drags me along instead.

I can't attest to anything past the front door because that's as far as we got. My friend and I stopped in here with high hopes of getting a good meal and a couple drinks only to find out that they weren't seating anyone because the "kitchen is backed up by 45 minutes." Um...? I would much rather sit and wait 45 minutes, order a couple drinks and chat with my friend than have to stand in the way of the door because they don't have anywhere else to sit. Needless to say, we ended up elsewhere.

Not very impressed. Came on a Thursday night and waited 45 minutes for our food. Server was non existant until the food arrived, when she did a "fly by". For $15, I was really disappointed with the steak. It was practicality void of flavor and accompanied by a "scoop" of reconstituted mashed potatoes, on the plus side the cole slaw was good.

My wife and I were running late getting to a show in Harrisburg and this Applebees happened to be on the way and didn't look crowded so we gave it a try. While the service from the beginning to the end was very good the food was nasty. They had changed several menu items on their 2 for $20 menu and were pushing some new pasta dishes. We each got one and both were vile. Soggy spinach, heavy over-salted sauces, pasta that was partially uncooked. Yick! While I never thought much of Applebees cuisine in general, this visit put the nail in the coffin of visiting any Applebees again.

So I got a free 25 dollar gift card, and I decided to go online and check the menu and use the Curb-side to Go option. I ended up ordering the asiago chicken (10.99) it was pretty good, a medium sized chicken breat, with cheese ontop and tortilla strips on the bottom. also i ordered the make-your-own sizzling fajitas. chicken & steak (11.99) that was fat better, it came with sour cream, guacamole, salsa, lettuce, meats and the fajitas. it was good warm. and a side of fries (1.99) turned out to be 25.43 all together. it took a little bit longer than they told me so i went inside and just sat at the bar for awhile. they have killians, michelob ultra light, rolling rock and budwieser on tap. oh and i like the whole authentic sports thing they have going on. senators shirts and autographed baseballs. even though they havent won a game since 2003. BC that is. anyway... good times.

Being on the Weight Watchers diet, it's nice to go to a restaurant and have entrees that I can order without whipping out my calculator to see how many points it is. Also, they have a new line of reduced calorie adult beverages, and the mojito from that line is very yummy. I also liked that whoever made my meal and the meals of my table-mates actually did what we requested. Whether it was making sure a steak was cooked right or as simple as getting salad dressing on the side, it was right. What I don't like are waiters that are so attentive that I can't eat my meal without an interruption every 5 minutes. That was a bit annoying. All in all, it was a good experience for me.

Hmmph, The waiter could have been a little more attentive, the presentation could have been better, and the side salad could have had fewer gnats! They did take the side salad off the bill, although the manager did come out to argue that there were no gnats ...(Despite the waiter noticing a gnat fly around the salad while we asked him to take it away.)

When the waitress came around the corner and saw our 3 boys she stopped smiling and actually rolled her eyes. The service was horrible and the food was not that great either. We will never go there again. I was a waitress when I was in my early twenties and I know that kids can be messy and loud but I never acted like this chick did. My kids are well behaved and we have been taking them out to eat with us since they were basically newborns. I have seen grown men make more noise and a bigger mess.

I've never really been a fan of the chain American restaurants - Applebees, Ruby Tuesdays, TGIF, but my last visit to Applebees has warmed me up a bit. Sunday before I went to work, my long lost love, Zorah and I decided to have lunch at Applebees, because, as you may have read - Indian restaurants are closed between 230 and 5. In all honesty, the service was really lacking. They took forever to seat us, when it was obviously NOT busy, and our server let me run out of water twice. I ordered this mix seafood grill thing - and it was DELICIOUS. Shrimp skewer (with actual flavor!) over almond rice, a crab cake, veggies, and parmesan covered tilapia. It looked like so much, but I ate damn near all of it because it was so good! Zorah also got a side of mashed potatos with her meal, and they were incredible. Skins still on and everything. Yum! So if anyone wants to buy me dinner - I wouldn't mind giving the mix seafood grill another go :)

About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. Although the trademark dish Riblets is a hot favorite among regular Applebee's dwellers, the restaurant also serves some amazing burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and salads.
