I ate here two weekends ago for brunch with a dining companion. The bar area of the restaurant was impressive and seemed to have copious space to do many different things while the dining area seemed more like any chain restaurant. I did really enjoy the monogrammed bread plates though and thought that they looked pretty classy. For brunch I decided to order the Farmhouse Fritata which can with my choice of a mimosa, bloody mary, craft brew or fresh fruit smoothie. I tried to order one of the seasonal beers only to be told that it was only good for their regular beers after which I settled upon the oatmeal stout. My fritata was nice with a good amount of cheese, ham and onions. The beer was a decent enough oatmeal stout too although nothing spectacular. However, the $9.25 that I ended up paying for both the frittata and beer was excellent in my opinion. My dining companion also enjoyed her meal and the mango smoothie that came with it. The bottom line for me is that I would definitely come back here in the future if I was in the area again.. The amount of food that you get for brunch combined with the beverage is easily a steal.

It's a brewpub, and in my experience that usually means food that is mostly good, but sometimes not thrilling, and beer that satisfies you if you're in the mood for thick, hearty brew, but disappoints you if you just want a damn Budweiser. The insistence of many brewpubs to only carry the beer they brew can be both a blessing and a problem in my eyes. My experiences here have involved some tasty wings, some lettuce wraps that could have used a lot more chicken and a lot less noodles, and some chili that was decent at best, but wouldn't come close to winning any contests. The beer... like I said, it is pretty good if that's what you're in the mood for. But I did have one friend who asked if they had an IPA and was told they didn't. Would it really kill them to carry a few bottles of a local IPA along with their brew? I'd go back, but I wouldn't insist that you drive there to try the place. I'd say give it a shot if you're in the neighborhood.

Nice place, It's almost like an Iron Hill but more local. Not that all the same feel. I didn't spend a lot of time there, but it's a good one to try.

The place is nothing spectacular but it's more than good enough to hang for happy hour after work. The microbrews are decent enough and the food is good. I liked their cheese fries which had real melted cheddar on them and not cheese whiz like most other places. They have varying drink specials too during the week.

I was determined to find the place again, to actually eat. I drive by McKenzie's every so often on my way to Delaware. I was out for my birthday, and knew I wanted to try this spot. The bar was open, spacious, had some really good live music, But I sat in the dining area. Bottom line, My server was a hella good dude. $20 Got me a 12 oz. Ribeye, Ceasar Salad, Baked Potato , and McKenzie's own 16 oz. Micro Brew, I had their equivalent to Blue Moon It was pretty good, a little warm and in a Room Temperature Glass while My dates WINE GLASS we could play tick tack toe with the frost that was on it. Desert was good, my waiter threw a candle in my tiramisu when I asked for fun. He came threw on the clutch, The desert was good. Lady finger's were dry in some spots, and there was a mystery flavor that was chewy and clumpy for the cake. like hard carmel, or fudge. "Im a tiramisu guy" if its on the menu i tend to give it a go. I'll deff try McKenzie's again, have a few drinks on the bar side and check out the vibe. Bars not to far for local. Thanks. Chalie

Loved the service and loved the food. The chicken and white bean nachos are amazing as are the fish tacos and chocolate peanut butter bomb. There is literally nothing I can critique. The table behind us was giving their waitress a hard time and she was perfectly polite and calm to them when they clearly didn't deserve it!

My husband and I went here tonight for a nice dinner after driving past it several times and had a horrible experience. We were seated at a booth, which we immediately noticed was dirty. There was yellow/green slime on the glass next to the booth, and the tacky decor around us (fake plants and yellow/brown table tops) almost made us lose our appetite. We heard our waitress apologizing to the table next to us for making them wait so long, and they did not seem happy. We actually then asked to be moved to the bar area, which seemed a little more lively and clean. We also asked to see a manager to let her know that the service was slow and our booth was dirty. She did not introduce herself, but instead said "What's wrong?" It was an awkward conversation, to say the least, and she left without even offering to pay the tab on our appetizer (the nachos.. fyi they were absolutely disgusting do not order them). My burger I ordered was pretty good, but the fries were inedible. However, my husband's chicken and stir-fry was insulting for $15. It was white rice, frozen vegetables, and little chunks of chicken. No sauce, but hey, served with chopsticks to get a legit Asian vibe! We asked for the manager again immediately, and the first words out of her mouth with a chuckle were "What now, guys?" We refused to pay for the meal, left our new (and excellent) server a generous tip, and literally sped out of there. Find a new restaurant around that area , such as Harvest, that serves delicious and well-prepared food and deserves your hard earned money! McKenzie's was a complete disappointment.

This is my first time going back to McKenzies in years and let me say that I probably won't be back again unless I have to. The waitress was amateur and didn't seem like she wanted to be there. We had to ask her to do several things for us that should be common sense for a waitress such as take our menus, take the trash off of the table, and bring us sugar for our iced tea. The one thing that she did right was recommend the appetizer firecracker wings to us and they were delicious. I would go back there just to eat the wings again. Our dinner however was a disaster. We ordered the steak dinner for $19.95 which we intentionally thought was a great deal. It wasn't worth it. The 12oz. ribeye was dry and not even edible due to the amount of salty steak sauce they coated it in. The baked potato was supposed to be a sour cream and chive potato and I had to ask the waitress to bring me chives and sour cream. The deal was that the dinner also came with a 16oz. beer or for $3 you could choose wine instead. My guest and I aren't beer drinkers so we asked if we could substitute the beer for another potato (which you would believe is cheaper anyway) but the waitress denied our request and was a little rude about us even asking. Definitely not thinking about the customer in my mind because this beer sat on our table wasted when we know we would have eaten the extra potato. Overall just a bad experience and I realize why I haven't been there in years.

So, after a 4am flight to Philadelphia filled with a decent amount of stress (understatement), my brother and his girlfriend took my mom and I here. I really think that overall this place is the 3-star rating it's received, but our waitress was *super* sweet, and they have amazing Crab and Brie Bisque... which is why I'M being super sweet right now. To start, we ordered a small sized Spicy Beef Nachos. Really, I thought I was back in Texas because this was FAR from small. It easily fed us four, plus room to spare. I don't even want to know what the bigger sizes looked like... The taste was decent, I'd give it about a 3-star. I'd probably try the chicken next time, as the beef was kinda sloppy-joe tasting. If you know me, you'd know I'm apt to order two things on menu's. Pretty much anything containing brie, and almost any kind of bisque. So, when I saw the crab and brie bisque, I was ALL over that. I had the Bisque, and a side Caesar salad. The Bisque was awesome, the flavor was really smooth, and not overly crabby. I wish it had more crab in it, but for 3.95 for a cup, so I'm not upset. It came with an adorable little puff pasty triangle on top, which gave a nice added texture to it. The Caesar was 100% dismissible, though. While the salad was fresh, the dressing was awful. The highlight of that salad was saving a bug after I was finished that had flown in some dressing and was drowning... I'm such a benevolent eater. I also had a Cantalope-tini. I was expecting an alcoholic version of the Melon Agua Frescas I love so, and while it tasted fairly similar, it was *really* strong. If that's your thing, order a Martini- the bartenders don't skimp. The IPA they microbrew was pretty good too. Normally I can't stand the hop-i-ness of IPA's, but I could actually tolerate this one. I'd probably be back if I lived here for happy hour or lunch, but more than likely not for dinner.

This place gets 3 stars for being nearly empty and acting as a central location for an after work happy hour. The beer was nothing special. It wasn't bad but it wasn't a microbrew I would travel for. I switched to Jack n Coke and I wasn't impressed. Given this is the main thing I drink wherever I go I like to think I know a good one. A great bartender can make a strong drink without causing your eyes to water. I got coke with a centimeter of jack on top to make me think I wasn't being ripped off. The stairs are roped off to give off a, "ooh a fancy VIP club is downstairs" when any breathing adult with a functioning brain stem thinks, "oooh a basement full of half-naked slutty girls dancing to bad music." I will more than likely have a full dine-in experience here soon as it seems to be the better option over shady Claymont for work functions. I'll be sure to take lots of mental notes and update.

Been here twice. Each time I was unimpressed. Food was bleh, along with the service. Too many food options in the area to waste my time here.

Frankly, the beer wasn't that good. I think that brew pubs need to knock it out of the park, or the trip just isn't worth it. The food was pretty good, with all of our 6 person party quite pleased with all of the apps, soups, and entrees. Great service and a nice place. Go for the food and order a glass of wine. You'll enjoy the experience. Try the Crab and Brie Bisque.

I like this place .. kinda surprised about all the bad reviews? I think what makes it stand out to me is you have a kind of pub style bar upstairs, live music lots of time, decent bar food and drinks, etc.. Then you have an entire more club style scene downstairs! So you head out, once you get there you decide what mood you are in and adjust accordingly! Not too shabby!

My boyfriend, his family and I ate here as we congregated for a wedding and McKenzie's came heavily recommended by the groom. I know that some people griped about the food in fellow reviews but I thought differently. My boyfriend and I shared the Crab and Brie Soup as an appetizer - It was rich but good. Splitting a cup was just the right amount for us both. I then had the Fish Tacos which were great; very tasty and flavorful. All of us were served entrees that were extremely well presented and very appeasing to the eye. The food quality was pretty good according to everyone to back up the assumption. Again, like a very other experiences on this trip, the service was terrible. To me, service is key. If management doesn't take the time to properly train employees, it reflects how the entire place is run. Our server rarely came around, didn't smile, was rather snippy and never served us more than one beer. We're all pretty hefty drinkers so that was a bummer. Granted, their craft brews weren't amazing but I wanted another. Unfortunately, she never came back until we were all done eating. If I came back to the area would I go back? Unfortunately not.

We went for dinner and too forever to get seated. We finally sat outside and our server was...not the best. We asked for a beer sampler and she ran away before we could add waters onto that. When we finally got our food it was actually really good. We got the cheese fondue and it was amazing. So tasty and the dippers were awesome. We also got the roast pork sandwich which was also very tasty and delicious. I got the margarita pizza which was alright but ill probably pass on that next time. I actually thought the beer was meh, I didn't really like any of them. But I'll definitely be back for that cheese fondue alone and hopefully we'll get a better server.

Came to visit my friend to watch Sunday football. Decided to head to the local bar to see all the games. This place has all the games, but the viewing is hampered by hanging lights. The sounds are of slow listening, like B101 on sedatives (yes, really). 3 brews are 2.50 pints for Sunday games, which is a good deal. The nacho plate was pretty good, albeit the cheese wasn't stringy and was in blocks basically when it came out. The chips seemed to be homemade and were good. The wings were not spicy, so if you are good with spice, get the spiciest one. The bartender wasn't much of help, we had to flag her down to order (maybe that's normal, but I think a server/bartender should be more attentive when you first get in - especially when it isn't busy). That wasn't much of a complaint though...it just wasn't much of a football atmosphere.

Went there last night. Waitress was not attentive. Never brought us bread. Had to ask twice for sugar for iced tea. Forgot friends drink. My meal was dry and bland. Annnnd my berry cobbler came out BURNT! Sat outside and it got dark and we couldn't see each others face. Told the waitress who did nothing about it. Told host who brought out a tiny tea light with 6 women at the tablehad to ask for two. Atmosphere is nice and singer was good. Don't go there to eat.

I don't know why all the hate for the place, but I'll give my input. The beer for the most part is decent microbrew, except for the saison, which is a really nice drinking beer. The food is really quite exceptional as far as breweries go. It is for the most part normal American-style eats (burgers, pizza, wings, etc.), but all are quite tasty. I would especially recommend the pizza, the cheese is very tasty and the crust tastes like it was scratch-made (whether it was or not I don't know). Overall, this is a really nice place to go with friends or for a decent meal at a reasonable price. I do recommend trying it for yourself before you write it off because of the other reviews.

I'll make this one quick as the restaurant isn't worth a wordy explanation of events: Beer: Meh. I've had better microbrews. The bierre de garde was good. Food: Ordered the BACON, CHEDDAR, ONION, sliders. What I received were over cooked burgers w/ no bacon and topped w/ Mozzarella. Sent them back as the cook was clearly not paying attention. Waitress came back to tell me that they were re-firing them but that he had put the right cheese on the burgers, it was white cheddar. Now I'm slow but I friggin know the difference between Mozz. and Cheddar so please don't insult me. Burgers (mind you, they're small burgers) take like 15-20 min. to come back out. Ridiculous. The second plate is brought out by the manager who apologizes but doesn't offer anything else. Then there's the check fiasco. We ask for the check and have to wait 15 min. The check comes, we pay, and it takes both the waitress and then then manager 20 min. to process the check. I asked for it twice and was told they had a problem ringing up our bill. It's not as though we paid in cowrie shells...Cash and a credit card, easy enough. The manager comes out AGAIN to apologize for the delay. A member of our group bitches that the service/wait/food/experience was unacceptable and he apologize and states "I wish you had gotten to me earlier." Are you f'ing kidding me? He knew there was a problem when they screwed up my order because he brought out the new plate. At any rate, I'm avoiding this place in the future. Too bad really as they're putting on a new patio. There are better places you can go on 202 than McKenzie's. Save yourself the agony.

Been here a few times while in town for Thanksgiving. Most recently stopped by here yesterday to have a pint. Tried the seasonal Red Ale which honestly was more of an IPA, however, it was tasty. Everyone else at the table tried a different beer - Brown, Wit, etc. However, there was some disappointment that there was no cheesesteak on the menu given proximity to Philly. I remember having lunch here a while back in addition to beer and while I couldnt find anything 'unique' on the menu, the establishment was accommodating to change my order slightly to make it different. If you are looking for homemade spent grain pizza, cheese and mustard dips made with ale, etc this is not the place. However, if you are looking for really good beer with 'run of the mill food', then this place is decent and much cheaper than Iron Hill (your other local brewpub).

Travelled about an hour or so with my buddies to meet up with a friend on his birthday and to celebrate his promotion. He relocated to Glen Mills for work and his co-workers were out celebrating as well. Decently busy with what seemed to be an all after work crowd. The beer selection was all house brews consisting of a porter, an IPA, a pilsner, and a lite ale. They had a seasonal menu as well with about 4 or 5 Belgian styles but I stuck with the IPA which I liked. The service at the bar when we walked in was what got me. Wanted to order some food but didn't because it was hard to get recognized at the bar. The food looked pretty standard for something like a Friday's or Applebee's and the menu selection was about the same. The only exception seemed to be the flatbread/pizzas that they offer. I guess if you live around here, this might be a decent place but I wouldn't go again considering it's not my neighborhood!

We've been here many times, even booked a party her once without incident. Tonight we arrived to have a drink about 8 and were informed there was no room at the inn...err bar due to a large birthday party that had essentially reserved every high top in the bar area. Fine, book a birthday party here...but do it in a private room or the dining area. Don't take over the entire bar so regular customers are turned away.

In town on business and have been to this restaurant 5 times in past month and it was ok until last night. Decided we were only hungry for burgers last night. The burgers are advertised as 1/2 pound burgers on soft bun. What we got was 1/4 pound (and that is being generous) burgers on stale buns. We were told by management that the person that preped the burger patties yesterday made them too small. Really? So, this is my problem as a customer. Need management capable of identifying issues and resolving them rather than passing issue onto customer. I wish I could post pictures of this sandwich. These burgers were slightly bigger in diameter than the side cup of ketchup. What a joke. Not going back, mostly because of aggrevation caused by poor customer service

Yelp got it right...this place is A-OK. And that's all I can really say about it. It's a standard bar/grill, with a little bit of everything on the menu. My boyfriend and I went here for a late lunch with my sister and husband on Saturday (06/14), and we were fine with the food. Not blown away, not disappointed, but satisfied. Again, A-OK. We split the nachos for the table and although I liked the chips, I felt that the cheese was a bit too much and tasted a little rubbery. I ordered the salmon BLT wrap and it was pretty good, but the tortillas were very filling and I couldn't finish my meal. My sister had the BBQ pork sliders (3) and she liked them, but couldn't finish the last one, so she asked for a box. My boyfriend was not entirely happy with his lemon-Parmesan chicken (he thought it tasted "too lemony"), but the chicken was cooked well, and he ate most of it. My brother-in-law had a burger with bacon and was ok with it. Overall, this seems like a good place to hang out and watch a game over beer and some bar-type snacks, not so much a sit-down dinner. I did think our server, Alicia, was very nice and personable, and she was efficient.

We have gone here quite a few times. We do enjoy their food. Mostly everything we have ordered here has been good. My favorite is the maryland crab and Brie bisque. I get this every time we go here. We have never had anything bad. But some items are a lot better then others. Some of the dinners I feel are expensive for what you get. It's a nice place if you want to go out for a date night with your spouse.

I came here yesterday for my annual fantasy football draft with 12 others. We had the small private room in the back of the dining area on the main floor of the restaurant. We had one server and she was excellent. We were able to order from the normal menu and all of the food we had was very good. We had the hot wings which were seasoned perfectly. We also had the nachos, chicken Cesar salad, various burgers, and a few guys got the bread pudding for dessert. All in all everyone was happy with what they had. The Cesar dressing had a good taste. It was very thick however, and I am glad I ordered it on the side, as it may have dominated the taste of the chicken. We all had a good time and plan to return next year.

Went for lunch on a Sunday. Was seated by the host who just put the menus down and walked away without saying anything. A couple minutes later the waitress stopped by, we ordered drinks and the clams as an appetizer. Drinks were delicious, the clam broth was very good as well...until flies landed in it. Ordered main course which took about average time to come out and tasted about average as well. I had the roast pork & broccoli rabe, my party had the crab cake sliders which tasted good, and the bass special which didn't look very good. Server was overly nice, and gave an far above average amount of time between check ins. Overall wasn't impressed, probably wouldn't come back for a meal, maybe a drink

The name here captivated my taste buds. I like to sample places that brew their own beers. I went with the Oktoberfest being that its my favorite beer season. I have to say I was a little disappointed in the flavor it was missing something. For lunch I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie. This was disappointing as well. When it's on the menu classified as a pie, I expect a pie shell or it to be in a crock with pastry shell on top. This was a piece of biscuit in a watery chicken broth that was more sweet to my liking. The veggies and chicken were very far and between. This dish is a supposed to be comfort food and very hearty. This was neither. I do not know if I would go back because nothing on the menu really jumped out at me and there are many other viable options nearby. McKenzie's you have some work to do! If i do go back it would be for some wings and another brew to give them a 2nd chance, but who knows.

Love this place! My friends at school introduced me here and now whenever I have someone visit we eat here. My parents loved the sunday brunch, my college friends love the apps, and my boyfriend is all about the burgers and meats! Stopped here with RJ to watch football. I ordered the Mangorita which I loved and have had here before. We had the Asian Lettuce Wraps and the Coastal Shrimp Crab Mac and Cheese. The lettuce wraps were good, but the chicken was cut too big for the small lettuce leaves. The Mac and Cheese was very cheesy with large shrimp, but there wasn't a lot of crab and the cheese sauce was too thin. We still enjoyed everything. The bartender was friendly and efficient, we had good service.

Mckenzie is located in such a prime location on 202 that I really really want to like this place ... We tried a few things off the menu a few times but rarely like anything we try; just very bland and flat - their beers are not anything to be excited about either as compared to other great local breweries in the area (victory, tired hands, etc). I am really hoping they turn things around a bit so i can enjoy their nice deck and prime location more.

I've been by this place approximately 123 times and never stopped in. Today the stars aligned and I popped in for a quick lunch. Many folks would compare them to an Iron Hill as they are a brew house that serves their own beer. Speaking of beer, they have six standard selections and two rotating seasonals. I tried the farmhouse ale and a red ale. Both were fine and eminently quaffable. Neither could compare to top-of-the-line craft bottles available everywhere today. I've found that typical of a local brew house. Both were about $5 which is fair. For lunch I tried the burger sliders ($9.95). They come with white cheddar and caramelized onions. They were better than most. They were a cooked to order which is nice with a slider. I could actually taste the beef, cheese, and onions and they melded together nicely. The buns were tasty but a little tough and therefore made my mini-sandwiches a little tough to eat. The accompanying fries were frozen from a bag and forgettable. Keeping in mind that this is a chain I'd call it a three star meal. I sat at the large oval bar and noted the plethora of TVs. This bar does something I've seen before that drives me a little crazy. They have many small lights that hang from the ceiling. They are the perfect height so that when you look up at a TV you can find yourself trying to look through one of them. That's just dumb and shows a lack of attention to detail. So would I come back? I'd say maybe. You can't throw a stick in this area without hitting a chain restaurant. The competition is brutal. I'd be just as likely to go somewhere else.

This is usually one of our favorite places to stop, sip some beers, watch some games or eat what is normally good food. This Saturday, Nov. 8th, was not so enjoyable. Turns out they had rented out the lower party room to a group with a DJ, and the music was so loud the floor and bar vibrated. We were in the bar side, with 18 TV/s and piped in music, but couldn't hear any of the music. The poor folks on the other side, having family dinners or dates, had it much worse than we did. When I mentioned to the bar person that perhaps just a slight reduction in volume would be nice, she went to the manager, and instead of going down and correcting the problem, they cranked the bar music up much louder. Again, the poor folks in the "fine dining" side had the worst of it. Moral of the story, if you are going there for dinner, call and check to see if their is a Party Going on Downstairs, and if there is,, think twice.

A decent place to have drinks but skip the food. They only serve their own craft brews. I noticed 6 regular selections and maybe 4 or 5 seasonal brews. The regular selections include: Light, Saison, English Brown Ale, American Pale Ale, Oatmeal Stout and a Belgian. They also offer growlers for 12.99 with a 10.99 refill. You can get a brew sampler which includes six little 5oz tasters. I am a bit of a beer snob and that being said, I didn't LOVE the beers here. My favorite beers tend to be belgian whites. I tried the belgian here and to be honest, it wasn't very good. My personal favorites were Saison and the farmer's ale. The food was a major disappointment. We had the jambalaya, mediterranean salad and tiramisu. All dishes were a fail. The jambalaya was cold, the salad dressing had no flavor, the hummus was terrible and the tiramisu tasted like they had made it weeks ago. They have an extensive menu so maybe we just got the "wrong" things. During the weeknights, they have fun events like bingo (tues) and musical trivia (wed) where they give out free pitchers/gift cards to the winners. The walls in the bar area are lined with flat screen TV's. For the sports fanatics, you can watch but the music is so loud, don't expect to actually hear anything. Oh and they offer free wifi.

We were there on friday the 6th of June, 2014 and our server was very professional. Very good service. Food was good too. I ordered the hummus plate, which was not the best I've had, but was still good. I also ordered tomato juice, which was genuine and not mixed with odd flavors.

I went here for lunch recently while in town accompanying my wife for a business trip/shore vacation. It was a Monday, so not very crowded, but was a positive experience. Good service at the bar-friendly employees-and a comfortable, clean restaurant. The food was good-had the wedge salad to start and it was a different presentation-bacon, cucumbers, tomato, bleu cheese crumbles where on the perimeter of the wedge. Ended up being a great idea as I was able to chop it just the way I like it. The hot roast beef sandwich was also good. Like the salad, they served the basic here with condiments to add on as you wish. A good beef sandwich with peppers (cherry and green) on the side, as well as a large cup of au jus and a cup of horseradish sauce. So good, could have had a second sandwich to use up all of those great "toppings". Didn't have any beer, but they have several standard microbrew varieties as well as seasonals and specials. Next time we're in town, I'd go for dinner and try a few.

This is one of my Favorite stops for Beers and Dinner. They always have a great seasonal selection. Make sure to go on a Monday night for Quizzo Team Trivia. It is so much fun. The staff is very friendly there. I highly recommend it. Fav App: Asian Lettuce Wraps.

Myself and two friends stopped in to have lunch Yesterday . The waitress, Amanda, made it clear that she didn't want to be there and was not very interested in us. This started when she threw the coasters in front of in a who cares kind of way. She didn't tell us what the specials were and after we ordered she said to my friend "hand me that menu!" in a very irritated way. The food runner brought out food, which was decent, and then Amanda came over and half heartedly asked us if all was ok. A little later when Amanda didn't return, my friend flagged her down and pointed to her glass, Amanda didn't come to the table to ask if anyone else needed a refill. Her attitude made our lunch a downer!!

We had the barrel-aged Manhattan and the winter sangria. Both were excellent! We also had the tempura asparagus. Also very tasty!!! The bartender was friendly and professional. We recommend this place. We were pre-gaming so we just had one drink and an appetizer and for that reason we're going to give it four stars. But if we had dinner we would probably give it five stars!

A group of us went to dinner here after visiting Chadds Ford winery. After being seated we ordered drinks and they came out in a timely manner. However, it was all down hill from there. Our waitress didn't come back to our table to take our order for 25 minutes. When she finally did come back we placed our order for appetizers & entrees hoping this would expedite our service. We then waited an hour for our appetizers to come out, at which point we located the manager to make him aware. The appetizers then came out, all ice cold. They clearly had been sitting for a long time because the candle for the fondue had burned out. Unfortunately we didn't get to taste the food and left after again speaking to the manager. The table behind us arrived shortly after us and had a small child with them, they also had not gotten any food by the time we left.

A little bit grill, a little bit sports bar, a little bit gastropub, a little bit live music venue -- overall, a nice place for a low-key night with your buddies. I usually come for the house beers -- while nothing in their rotation of ales usually stands out, their stouts are always near the head of the class. Be sure to get a plate of nachos or potato skins while you're at it -- both will be sure to satisfy your beer munchies.

Went here after work with some mates from work and it was actually decent. I went in thinking it was just going to be mediocre bar food. I was pleasantly surprised. I had a $5 pizza. I chose the buffalo chicken because I haven't had it in a long time. Man oh man!! It was great! Actually spicy enough for me to have to order 3 waters!:p The beer they make is pretty good as well ^_^ overall it was a good experience. Update: I went the other night with my better half and had the clams. Once again I was surprised how good they were. I will becoming back late at night with friends for sure.

First time here with family and friends. It was awesome. A party of ten with no two orders the same and no one had complaints. Two thumbs up!!!!!!!!

I'm a fan of all the McKenzie's. Great for happy hours or a date. (I hope the ladies don't see this review, to discover that I bring all my dates here.) Solid beer lineup. I dig the Amber, Farmhouse ale, and Brandywine Wit. They also have good seasonals. Sports trivia with Amanda brings me to this location most often--always a blast. Unfortunately my sports knowledge extends only to the 1993 and 2008 Phillies, but thankfully, my pals know their stuff.

I live very close and have been here a few times. I don't like the lighting or ambiance. It is too bright at the bar and the dining room feels more like a diner than a restaurant. The food feels and looks like it's been just slopped on a plate. Not visually appealing. I've had a number of their salads here and none of them were very good. My husband has gotten burgers here and while he says they are pretty good, I don't see him chomping at the bit to come back and get another. We will come back only as a last local resort

We occasionally visit McKenzie's when we're in the mood for a good microwbrew or a step up from regular bar food. McKenzie's is pretty consistent in quality and service and if you're lucky you might be able to see the Nerve perform live in their bar area. Overall one of the better bar/restaurants in the area.

Never, ever again. Went to McKenzies the other night for dinner. The waitress was pleasant, attentive and was the best part of the experience, but unfortunately could not make up for the kitchen and lack of cleanliness. The dining area and bar area was dark and dank and made you wonder what they were trying to hide. I ordered wings, fish tacos and a lemonade. The lemonade came out in a glass which had globs of ketchup on the inside and which because of the lack of lighting, I did not notice until I had already drank half. The waitress brought out another drink. The wings came out burnt, some were black, which I could not eat. The waitress offered to bring out a new order, so I said sure. Sixty seconds later, a food runner brought out the new order. But...... they were the same wings, only with a fresh coating of hot sauce! These went back as well. The fish tacos were supposed to be mahi mahi. They were edible, but were much too fishy and watery, so I suspect they were not mahi mahi as the menu had described. The sides were cold. Disappointed with the whole experience and ready to leave I visited the restroom to wash up. While I was in the restroom, one of the cooks came in and used the urinal, finished using the urinal, flushed the urinal, and left the restroom to return to the kitchen. Thats right folks, the man that cooks your food at Mckenzies does not wash his hands after urinating at the urinal. Disgusted, disappointed, and still hungry, we left the restaurant. I will never go back to this disgusting place. Btw. I was up half the night, because I was so sick from the food at Mckenzies. Never, never again!

This place is in a weird location between the North and South bound Rt. 202. Parking is tough. Wait staff when I was there was very slow and didn't seem to understand my questions about the menu (These were not professionals). All of the beer is pretty "Hoppy". Out of the several brewed, I only liked one. The wine is a poor value (I know, it's a MICROBREWERY). I got the nachos (somewhat more expensive than most places in the area) which came with cheese and sausa. Sour cream and Guacmole cost extra. I think that they should be included, especially for the price. After the food was delivered...it took a LOOONG time, we didn't see our waitress we waved at her to get us some more beer, then not until we were pretty much ready to get the check. We asked for the check and waited....waited...Waved...waited....then it came....I put my credit card in the folder and then....waited...waited...Waved....waited....then she finally took it....and then we waited....waited....You get the idea.... Bottom line, unless you want to waste your entire night waving and waiting for mediocre food and beer...go somewhere else....

Walking into the restaurant/bar it looked like it had something to offer. Once we sat down, we saw how quiet the place was, and it was just right at dinner time! It wasn't till we got the beer sampler did we find that it wasn't anything special. We also had the nachos, which when they brought it out it was GINORMOUS - it would feed probably 4 people, AS A DINNER OPTION! It was only two of us. At first we thought we had ordered the wrong thing, and when we confirmed with the waiter, it was he that put the wrong order in for us. I can't imagine any one person ordering that as an entree or dinner if that's the case. It was definitely a party platter.

Service was awful, management was rude, you can get a lot better beer elsewhere.

Had a room reserved at this place recently for a good friends 40th birthday. Got to the place only to find out that they had given the room away to a "bigger party." What kind of respectable place does that? Poorly managed place, with average beer at best. Heed the 3 star average rating...it says it all.

I have always had a great time here, and great service. I usually go on Monday's when they have quizzo. The quizzo host Kevin is really fun, and always has a good quiz set up for everyone. Beth the bartender is amazing, and always making sure me and my friends have our drinks. The food is really delicious, and always fresh. I recommend the lettuce wraps, and the nachos!!!
