I love old fashioned diners! Good, comfort food and friendly service are hallmarks of the best diners and the Lincoln Diner has both. The building is older but updated to late 80s standards. The seating is comfortable and plentiful which great because the weekend breakfast and brunch crowd is usually big. We've been coming to the diner for years and the wait staff has always been friendly, accommodating and prompt. Refills on drinks and coffees are plentiful and quickly taken care. The breakfast menu has a variety of dishes and can accommodate picky eaters. The lunch and dinner menu has a wide selection of sandwiches and home style entrees. I am partial to their French toast, pancakes and club sandwiches, but everything else I've tasted has been very good too. The prices are extremely reasonable which makes dining here ideal for families and larger parties. There is literally options available for everyone. I highly recommend checking the diner out!!!

We ate at this old style diner on a Sunday afternoon. Needless to say the place was packed! The front section was the classical diner seating and the overflow went into a back room which was a little more crowded. The service was quick, food was decent, and you got a big meal for the price of the food. The omelets were nothing spectacular but they were filling. Home fries were decent but could have used some onion and pepper. Chocolate chip pancakes were filling. If you are looking for a quick big cheap meal this is the place to go for some breakfast style food. Would definitely go back here to fill up.

Good diner food (pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, etc.) and terrible service, which honestly could have been because I went in July 3 when everyone was trying to celebrate Independence Day. Open almost all the time to fulfill your breakfast and pie needs, so that's pretty awesome. I don't remember anything particularly exciting about this place, but it was overall pretty good. They had some amazing-looking pies so I'm a little bummed I didn't get to try any, but the breakfast portions are HUGE.

We went to this diner last Thursday morning (8/20/15), and I was pleasantly surprised by how fast the service was, despite the other reviews. We waited 5 minutes tops for our food, and we had a party of 4. The waitress was very attentive, but not overbearing. And the food was pretty good, definitely better than your usual chain breakfast restaurant. Would come again next time I'm in Gettysburg!
(5)Joseph L.
Had breakfast here this past Saturday (8/15). Would recommend for no other reason than the girl behind the cash register chased me up the street at a full run, on a 90 degree day, to give me back my cell phone, which I had left behind at my table. I hope she wins the lottery some day. As far as the food is concerned, it was standard diner fare. I've had better, but I've also had much worse. The staff was attentive and nice but service was on the slow side, the very slow side. The counter to the slow service was the very reasonable prices. I would eat here again without hesitation.

A place that is open 24 hours and serves breakfast and pie all the time, is awesome in my book already. My boyfriend and I were in town for a few days, and he wanted me to try the diner since he had been already once before. The place itself, is a true diner, and I loved this little place. The only odd thing about it was the bathrooms... You walk down a set of stairs into almost a dungeon like area, and it was a bit creepy. But food wise, they delivered, and my pancakes were yummy, and I'd love to go back on our next visit out to Gettysburg!

Who doesn't love a good diner? This was a great find while on the road. It's not terrible far from the highway in the heart of Gettysburg. I was told I had been there before but was too young to remember. It's a great little diner, homemade fresh food and reasonable prices for being in a "tourist" town. Old style counters, booths and large desert town in the corner. There is plenty of room for seating in the multiple sections. I had the Bacon Cheese Burger and was really satisfied with my choice. Cooked right and served with a healthy portion of French Fries. The patty was not the frozen kind, you could tell it was fresh and hand made. The fries were golden brown and crispy. After several hours in the car it was a welcome stop for some good food. ***WARNING*** If you are traveling with elderly or people who need assistance this may not be the spot for you unfortunately. The rest rooms are located in the basement which is a narrow 3 small flights down around corners. Had to give it only a 3 for that factor alone.
(3)Jessica B.
Had dinner here and the food was excellent. The staff was very attentive. Loved the feel of the place.
(5)Kara B.
Great place for affordable well portioned food, we have only had breakfast here but it's a must on our list when we visit the area. Friendly service.
(5)Penny G.
The Diner is our "go to" stop in Gettysburg. We have enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner on various occasions and have not been disappointed. Their desserts are outstanding. It is open late, so if you are traveling and get to Gettysburg late, you can still get a decent meal.
(4)Lyndsey J.
Very cute dinner. Able to seat our party of 6 immediately. Judy our waitress was awesome. Friendly and attentive. Good was perfect breakfast food at a good price. We would come back.
(5)Hannah Z.
My husband and I had breakfast here in early July 2015. It appeared to be clean, yet super old, but we like that feel. The food came out quickly and was exactly as we'd ordered it. The waitress was less than friendly, quite unpleasant and we overheard her have a bit of an argument with another waitress. We will be coming back the next time we make a trip to Gettysburg.
(4)Valerie S.
My husband and I stopped in here for a late lunch/early dinner while we were in town. We weren't looking for anything too crazy or fancy, and this little diner caught our eye. There was only one other table when we got there, but by the time we left, the diner had filled up quite nicely. My husband had the cheeseburger deluxe and I had the BLT. Everything was good, though my husband said the fries were on the greasy side - but they didn't seem too greasy to me. Anyway, this place hit the spot and that's exactly what we were looking for!
(4)Nancy O.
The Lincoln Diner did not disappoint, exactly what I was hoping for! Friendly, clean, cute, local, good food, great prices -- the perfect little diner!
(4)Jennie S.
This is one of the only places in Gettysburg open 24h. I'm a fan of their tuna sandwiches and their egg breakfasts. However, you can't order poached eggs after 11am (or some weird rule like that). I thought the server was joking the first time they told me this. Service varies from good to bad to downright bizarre, and there's usually some fight occurring if you're here between the hours of 1-6am. Cheap food and always open - these are LD's best qualities. Oh, and cheesecake.
(3)David R.
Perfect Diner for Gettysburg. No frills. Good fried egg. Decent hash browns. Not gonna blow you away but you'll probably get exactly what you expect.
(4)Samuel N.
Food was good. But I had to flick a cockroach off the counter :-/ I had the chicken melt sandwhich thing and it was good. The water was good too. And prices are nice and cheap.
(3)Gary C.
Good food and great service the burgers are amazing. It has the old dinner feel. A larger selection of meals make it nice. One downfall is the bathroom is in the basement. Portions are of good size.
(4)Deanna R.
Service was A+, Trudy was very pleasant, energetic and attentive. Our food was very good, it met our expectations for a local diner. The menu had all of your standard breakfast options with a few unique dishes. There omelet was good, but not over-the-top, French toast was fantastic!
(4)Mark M.
The food and service at this classic diner are a notch above what you will find elsewhere. Whether you are a resident or a tourist, don't miss it.
(5)Joani S.
Overview: Typical diner food. Nothing fancy, but decently portioned and priced. At certain times of the day, you can watch the train go by right outside. Food: As a Gettysburg native, I have eaten here several times and ordered much of what they have to offer. The stuff on the menu is all pretty regular food, nothing to write-home about. However, the specials are usually very good and more likely to actually be homemade. Recommend: Again, always try to order from the specials menu. The spinach pie is great, as are the stuffed peppers. For dessert, the meringue pies can't be beat and the House Cake is phenomenal. Atmosphere: A bit rough and dirty. When the Gettysburg College is in session, expect a lot of college kids. And there's a big after-church crowd on Sundays. Service: Truly dependent upon who your waitress is. If they're a regular waitress, you are likely to have a great experience. However, they often employ the college students, especially in the evening hours, and I have had worse service during those times.
(4)D S.
Good diner. Great breakfast. No frills but good. Would definitely return for breakfast.

My friend and I stopped here for a late dinner tonight. We're from out of town, and since it was 8:15pm, we decided to eat at Lincoln Diner. We were immediately greeted by a nice waitress who said she'd be with us in a few minutes. I noticed there was another waiter who continued to talk to his friends at the counter while the girl busted her butt. He didn't lift a finger until she asked him to bring us some menus while she took care of some people behind us. After that, he went back to talking with his friends. The phone even rang and he didn't even move. The other waitress was too busy to get it so it went unanswered. She took care of us after that. The food came out fast, but wasn't super great. The chicken sandwich was extremely plain. They didn't even ask if my friend wanted it breaded of grilled. They forgot the ranch on it (we had to ask for some). I also noticed they forgot a few ingredients on my gyro as well. Maybe the cook should look at the menus a little closer. I'd give the young, blond waitress 5 stars, but everything else wasn't good. The other waiter should get fired. The diner wasn't dirty, but also wasn't clean...if you know what I mean. Wouldn't go back.
(1)Robin R.
OMG!!!!! If all of life could be judged by the House Cake here I would be in a state of ecstasy. Okay so that was a bit dramatic but really the cake was damn G-O-O-D and the coffee. So....my slice was huge *three layers*. Bottom up....chocolate cake, banana cream, chocolate cake, strawberry cream, chocolate cake topped with a fudge icing. YUM! Also had Boston Cream at our table which was also huge but not the custard type of filling expected but....it was liked just the same ;)
(5)Alex S.
Breakfast at a reasonable price. Only drawback was the french toast which was tasteless. Otherwise friendly service and good food.
(4)YM C.
After a freezing day on the slopes we needed something fast and hot. The menu selection at the diner is limited but the waiter recommended the chili. We all had some. It was great! It totally hit the spot for me. I ordered a side of cheese fries to accompany my bowl of chili. It was the best chili I've had a while. I definitely recommend this place if you have a hankering for chili.
(4)Maria A.
JUST EAT THE CHEESECAKE! CHEESECAAAAAAKE! It's heavenly, delicious, smooth creamy awesomeness! Also the staff are very friendly!
(4)DJ N.
Basic diner setting with basic diner fare. Service was very friendly and attentive. We had French Toast, pancakes and eggs between the 4 of us. All of it was tasty and exactly what you'd expect at a local diner.
(3)Sarah G.
Holy cheesy omelet! Broccoli cheddar anything is fantastic, add some egg and you get the same result! I'm pretty sure there was more veggie and cheese than actual egg but I didn't mind at all! I wasn't impressed by the homefries unfortunately, they were pretty dry and were in dire needs of some seasoning but that's okay because my omelet was filling enough. I got the sense that this place is a well-loved Gettysburg staple. It has a sizeable breakfast menu with all the classics and a few specials thrown in. The decor of the place, while pretty outdated is kind of endearing; you can tell the place has history. Our waitress was soft-spoken but cheery even on this bustling Saturday morning. The orders came out pretty quickly and out drinks were refilled as soon as they needed to be. Overall, a cute diner and I'd go back when in town again!
(4)Peter S.
This is a Gettysburg classic! A real, old fashioned diner with good food open 24 hours and right next to train tracks. What more could you ask for? Love this place! Been there many many many times!
(5)Gina C.
I was seriously considering giving the Lincoln Diner 1 star, but despite all the negatives, the food was fine and the service was pleasant, and that's what really matters, right? First off, I HATE the 'seat yourself" plan at a place like this. The back dining room is rather large with way too many tables stuffed in, so you end up hovering next to people who are trying to eat so you can try to watch for the next table to open up, and when you do sit down the table is dirty and you have no idea if or when a worker will realize that it needs to be serviced. ugh. Second, the place is filthy. Just look up at the ceiling next time you're in there. Disgusting.
(2)Lars B.
Coming from an area where diners are practically a culinary way of life, I've got high standards from what I expect out of a diner. I thought this place did a good job. I came in around midnight during the weekend. The server was very hospitable and welcoming. He was engaging and made me feel at home. The place was clean. I ordered the bacon cheese burger deluxe. This burger was very good. My one qualm would be that I was asked what temp I'd want it cooked at and I gave a vague answer somewhere around medium/medium well...I don't really expect burgers to be cooked to temp at diners, so I just played along. The server informed me that the burger meat was very fresh and he recommended ordering it medium, which I agreed to. Although the burger was great, however, it did come out well done. The patty was so thin, I'd imagine it would be difficult to accurately temp a burger like that. Maybe that's something the kitchen could work out - like I said, though, the burger was great and I wouldn't have thought twice about it if they hadn't said something. I'd like to come back here for some eggs. I like the fact that this place is open 24 hrs.
(4)Steve B.
It's open, and it's cheap, but the rest was sad. Based on yelp reviews, we stopped here around 10 on a Saturday night after a show across the street at the Majestic. It wasn't hard to get a table, but otherwise, server attention was scant. We only wanted a snack. I had read reviews of the great "house cake", and asked about it right away. Our server didn't know what it was. We then perused the long list of cakes and pies, and she let us know they were out of most of them. I ended up with apple pie a la mode, and my wife got some ice cream and french fries. The food came out fairly quickly, and the fries were good. We never saw our server again. Maybe she was a spectre--- it is a historical town. But after sitting in the littered back dining room, with our empty plates, for a good while and failing to spot her anywhere, I (with some effort) flagged another server down. She DID NOT RECOGNIZE OUR SERVER'S NAME (spooky sound here). Someone else brought us our check, and we finally got to leave. And we will never haunt the place again.
(2)Lisa H.
The staff are very kind. The food falls short. I had the deluxe cheeseburger, the meat tasted strange. I thought the server said it was fresh but it seemed to be a frozen, preformed patty. I love dessert but my piece of house cake tasted funky. Maybe I would have had better luck with the pie or cheesecake.

Lincoln Diner brings up fond memories of late nights in college grabbing a leisurely bite to eat. Lincon Diner's open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so come in literally whenever. Overall, pretty standard diner fare and typical diner prices. I love being able to get breakfast at any hour of the day (greek omelette with gyro, woo!), who made that stupid rule about breakfast "ending" at a certain time? Good old fashioned homestyle cooking, even if it's not always MY cup of tea (thinking of the time my friend got liver and onions)... Gettysburg hosts a huge variety of top-notch restaurants with super high quality food. This might not be up on that level, but it is a place that always has the light on when you've got a hankering for some pancakes at 2:00 a.m.
(3)Siarra L.
I've never had anything here that I didn't love. The BEST omelets (especially with ham, tomato, and spinach!) and they put lots of whipped cream on your hot chocolate! Ow ow! The waitresses are usually great and the 3rd shift girls are always so fun! If you're hitting up the Flying Bull next door for a few drinks, you MUST eat drunk people food at the diner afterwards! It's tradition. ;) Don't try to park in the parking lot..
(5)Dianne G.
A dark and retro real diner. The prices were very low and if you order the type of foods that diners don't get from frozen food suppliers, you can do very well. My Swiss cheese omelette was ok and my friend's hamburger was good. There is a clock on the wall where the second hand actually sweeps, not jumps! Wow! Now THAT is retro!! (Bring back paper straws and I'd give them an extra star for being environmentally friendly!)
(3)Kelly C.
Stopped here late nite on a Tuesday recently. Cute little place. Nothing special. Food was just ok.. We only went because it was the only place open late. I wouldn't race back there for anything .. But if you need a bite, it's bearable.
(3)CJ N.
I used to come here often when I lived in Gettysburg 30 years ago. Came back during a recent visit. Nice, friendly, homey diner. Here is what I really liked. My wife and I often share a meal because we eat less than the size portions normally served (too many fries, etc.). We asked for the double burger, expecting to cut it in half. What the diner did, was to separate the two burgers into two separate buns on two plates! No extra charge. That's great customer service.
(4)Randy C.
love Lincoln diner,, try cheese cake
(4)Jon L.
More like 3.5 stars. Try the lunch special, you get a choice of three different soups, a sandwich & pudding. I had lentil soup, a turkey & bacon sandwich on toasted rye, it was excellent!
(3)Sarah B.
The "stinkin' linkin" is the closest thing the town had to a locals diner. Diner food, tourist prices, college crowd. No. Thank. You.
(2)Victor M.
Stopped here after doing a full day of Gettysburg on the Fourth of July. It was late and this was really the only place open with decent reviews. To say that we were pleasantly surprised would be a huge understatement. There were five of us and all of the food was awesome. I would go back anytime. People were nice and the food great.
(5)Beth H.
Stopped by for a quick breakfast before heading out of town last week. Parking is very problematic, even at 8 am on a Sunday morning! We were in a big pickup truck and the lot is very small. Wound up parking on the street, no need to feed the meter on Sunday. I had doubts that we would even find a seat but it's much bigger on the inside than it appears. We seated ourselves in a corner booth just outside the kitchen door. The kitchen seems very clean and organized! Our server was a very soft spoken lady who was friendly and efficient. DH ordered the French toast.......huge order! easily enough for two, if you are of a mind to share. He said it was delicious, and nicely cooked. I ordered bacon and home fries......with toast, and everything was just fine. Some may want to ask for the home fries to be well done if you need a little more "crunch" but these were clearly fresh potatoes made as real home fries should be. Bill was under 14.00, and included tomato juice, coffee, and a chocolate milk. May not be fancy but if we are wanting a good home style breakfast in the "burg", we will happily return to the Lincoln Diner!
(4)Philip A.
Went for the merengue pies someone posted. They didn't have any. That's all I really wanted, got boston creme instead, was ok. I didn't eat anything else. This place seems a bit dirty and worn. I just think a place with pies like the ones pictured would make sure to have them.. It seems like the draw to a place like this. Like I said though, didn't try the food. So ignore my judgement and give it a try
(2)Steve b.
I have one word of suggestion: DESSERT!
(4)Birgitte C.
It was my husbands turn to pick where we would have lunch. I was very hesitant when he said to go here for lunch, but am very glad we did! The service was wonderful and our food came out quickly. I was surprised at how fast it came out as there was a soccer championship in town that day and a lot of the players were in the diner for lunch. The food was wonderful! I had the meatloaf with cucumber salad and broccoli salad, which the waitress recommended. My husband had chicken parmigiana. His meal was enough to feed him, me and our son! Our son had the kids spaghetti which could have filled 2 people! We all sampled each other's meals and all were delicious! So glad we stopped here!!!
(5)Heather W.
Very good food, excellent service, and all for a great price. We had breakfast here and we're very impressed. The other reviews did it justice.
(4)Danielle H.
Stopped for brunch last Friday and was pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious, filling and reasonably priced. The coffee was also good. I would definitely go back the next time I'm in Gettysburg. I took a star off because I think the staff could be a little friendlier, they seemed a little put off by everyone who walked in the door.
(4)Jack K.
First, the best diner breakfast I've had in a while. Everything was served hot, and the coffee kept coming. The place was jammed but they took our order immediately and made a good meal for us. Just as important, our waitress was really attentive. She never interrupted, came by just enough to make sure we were happy, and was genuinely friendly.
(5)Tyler R.
It's your typical American diner in the heart of Gettysburg. They do a decent, no frills breakfast with friendly and quick service. If you're staying close by like we were, it's a great spot to start out a day touring the town or visiting the battlefield.
(3)Richard S.
We got breakfast here. Great food for the price. Service was fast and friendly. Overall nothing at all to complain about. Great for a cheap meal.
(5)Anna E.
Traditional diner fare with friendly service and great location. We had breakfast for 4 at about 9:30 on a Monday. No wait, coffee was fresh and hot, pancakes and French toast were tasty.
(5)N Y.
The most disgusting and vile food. The place was so dirty, even for a diner. We watched the waitress drop a container full of utensils and proceed to put all of the dirty utensils back into a container that was then given to patrons. Seriously, awful.
(1)Shannon J.
Pretty nice prices for the portion sizes. I had a mushroom and cheese omelet which was big and cheesy. The home fries are done well, so make sure you get some of those. Nice little hometown diner!
(4)Meredith J.
Just a normal run-of-the-mill diner. I had a scrambled egg with toast, sausage, and breakfast potatoes. Very good and well priced.
(3)ashley c.
Our waitress was not friendly at all and forgot our drinks. The breakfast was ok... typical tasteless diner food; although we have had better at other diners. Would we go again? Probably not.
(2)Chrissy B.
We had the ham and cheese omelette and French toast! Food, service and atmosphere is outstanding for this price point! We strongly recommend this place :)
(5)Venkata M.
A diner with Lincoln's name in Gettysburg, not bad marketing at all. Grilled chicken sandwich tasted okay, nothing worth mentioning. Don't expect much other than gulping down some mediocre food.
(3)Joe G.
Maybe it's because I hadn't had real diner food in years, but I freakin' loved this place. I was visiting my girlfriend, and had 4 or 5 meals here in a week. The ham and cheese omelet is excellent, the toast and coffee are great, the home fries need to be specified "well done," or they're not as good. Also had the Sunday biscuits and gravy - fantastic, and I loves me some biscuits and gravy. I'll be back next week, and will definitely be back at least once. Edit - also cheap as hell.
(5)Mishelle B.
Good food for a diner. Huge menu and something for everyone. Service was decent but took forever to be recognized to start off. The club sandwiches we ate wets good. I don't think I'd recommend the chicken salad club though.
(4)Matt K.
Typical diner. Everything to expect. The menu had a lot to choose from. Fast service. In and out with stuffed bellies in less then 30 minutes. Pretty affordable price.
(3)Scott B.
This rating is just for late night dessert. Fantastic selection, after an agonizing decision process we went for carrot cake and tapioca pudding. Both unique and wonderful! Christina our amazing server not only put up with what might have been ten minutes of our waffling and babbling about what constituted the perfect slice of cake, she served my girl blueberry green tea from her personal supplies after we were disappointed with Lincoln's choices of "regular or decaf", presumably of Lipton persuasion. Christina rocks! So does Lincoln for dessert, it's definitely now on our go-to list in Gettysburg, and I'd like to go back and try out their breakfast.
(4)Rebekah S.
I have gone to this restaurant for the best 17 years and I can fully say that this restaurant is definitely not as good as it used to be. Food hasn't changed but the prices have skyrocketed.
(2)Al K.
Great little diner! Food is served fast, very reasonable prices for a diner. Food is average for a diner. Atmosphere is nice. Coffee tastes less than average.
(3)Angela G.
Any G-burg alum knows the comforts of the Lincoln diner. The food is decent, but it's the late night atmosphere that brings me back. I've had so many great conversations here with friends in the early hours of the morning over toast and jam. Such fond memories of this place.
(4)Merri A.
I agree with some other Yelpers that this could be so much more. Still the service was good and the desserts are really good. I chose the tiramisu pie for dessert and it was a unique and tasty take on an old favorite. The pies....you must try coconut creme or lemon meringue.
(3)Gilson C.
My friends and I went for breakfast on Easter morning. The service was great and our waitress was really friendly. The meals were inexpensive and the quality was good.
(3)William T.
We searched Yelp to find a local place for breakfast. We found Lincoln Diner that had both good and not so good reviews. We decided to try the diner because it was local. The waitress greeted us and said that she be with us soon. She was very attentive to us and provided input about our food choices. The food was delivered in a timely manner and was delicious. I am glad that we went to Lincoln Diner. If we make it back to Gettysburg, we definitely will do this again. William March 15, 2013
(5)Catherine B.
Fairly standard, relatively cheap diner. The spinach pie was greasy but tasty, and the apple fritters were hot, crisp and sweet. Decent coffee. They do a good diner breakfast, too. Nothing to write home about per se, but good substantial food at a good price.
(4)Eric M.
We stopped by for breakfast before touring Gettysburg. Our order was taken and food came out exactly as requested. Food tasted pretty good. No refill on drinks. Took a pretty long time for the food to come out even though the diner was half full. It took just as long to get the check. Perhaps it was the waitress, saw other wait staff hustling around taking and filling orders in half to a third of the time as our waitress. I would come back for sure, I just need to allocate a lot more time if I have the same waitress. I would definitely be interested in trying dinner here. The prices were a very nice surprise.
(4)Panda M.
I'm a regular. My hometown diner.
(4)Eric W.
Do not come to this restaurant after dark! I have personally witnessed more than one drug deal, major brawl, and police action involving customers and staff! The kitchen is filthy. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.
(1)Jack K.
Visited for the first time this weekend and it did not impress. Wait staff was not very friendly and we waited almost 35 minutes to get our food - and we were only there for breakfast! When my pancakes arrived, they had given me blueberry pancakes instead of the plain ones I had ordered. I thought about sending them back but was afraid that I'd be waiting another 20 minutes, and that my colleagues would have finished their breakfasts by the time mine arrived. Overall, the food was average based on the opinions of my group. There are several other options for breakfast in Gettysburg and I plan to visit one of them next time.
(2)Rebekah D.
This was GROSS! The French toasted tasted like Potpourri. The pancakes were not good. I wasn't sure what to order an I thought how could you screw up pancakes. I was shocked that they were gross! I'm NEVER GOING BACK!
(1)Sarah S.
The Lincoln diner is one of the staples of a visit to Gettysburg - with late hours and great food, it's surely a great stop for all involved. Each year when I and friends gather in Gettysburg, PA for our annual ghost hunting event (Phenomenology) we always make sure after a late night that we head out to the Lincoln; open till 4am I believe. The rest of the town is sleeping and dark and you can stroll in the diner to find happy smiling faces and attentive staff. The atmosphere is a diner - not sparkling clean and chic, but instead pastel table tops with paper napkins and maple syrup sometimes sticking to the tops of the counter. There is a long bar top area to eat and watch the cooking and rotating pie containers filled with pies galore or additional seating in the back to watch passerby town folk. I always order their hot chocolate, the simple powdered kind with hot water and topped with creamy whipped cream and a breakfast; in my opinion their breakfast food is best. The bacon is crispy, the order is always taken to your liking and the helpings are a good serving with sometimes enough to take home. Their pie, if you can fill one in after the meal, are made in diner and are the size of your head - delicious! The parking is a bit tricky, not always shiny clean but overall - one of the top diners in the Gettysburg area and the late hours make it perfect!
(4)Rick L.
Great breakfast place, affordable. Service is courteous, would eat here again.
(3)Fan F.
Great place to have breakfast and start your day when you visit Gettysburg!! Portions are very large. We had three breakfast there and love everything we tried. The ham and the scrambled eggs are really good. Coffee is good too. Service is also really good too.
(5)Brian H.
About 3 1/2 Stars for the food and service. Took a long time for our Lunch to come out because it was very crowded today. Ordered a Chocolate Milk Shake, and in came in the Take Out Cup, and the Waitress walked away before I could ask for the rest of the Shake. The prices are reasonable, and they serve Breakfast all day long. Will have to give them another shot the next time the Family and I come up to Gettysburg.

French toast and omelette passable, but when the best you can say is "not bad", one wishes they had chosen another breakfast spot. Omelettes are supposed to be more than two patties of scrambled eggs with cheese in the middle.

Old fashioned diner. Stopped here for breakfast on way to battlefield. Nice place mostly locals. Portions were good and service was fast.

After leaving the battlefields I visited the Lincoln Diner per my sister's recommendation. The food was cheap, plentiful and quite good. The waitresses pleasent and attentive. But it was the milk shake that had me sold. Got it to go after dinner and it made the drive back to Harrisburg so much more pleasant. It's right across the street from the railroad station that President Lincoln came in to deliver his Gettysburg. Don't wait four score and 7 years to visit Gettysburg's or the Lincoln Dinner.

This is a fine place to go for typical diner fare in an original diner building. Nothing crazy good or bad although it is said that Honest Abe gave the Gettysburg Address very close to the diner and not one waitress we asked knew where nor cared about any Gettysburg history. Typical diner attitude neither good or bad was in play as well. We went in with a party of 8 men and had a blast. Fair breakfast portions of simply prepared breakfast food made for a winner. We did have to ask for coffee refills a few times and it assuredly a very tight fit in this place, but overall we were satisfied and would recommend the visit. We were easily amused by the He-Man breakfast and the Lumberjack. All went well with the men. One of our party felt they advertised a photo of a German style fatty sausage, but when served we were given typical links. For the price and proximity to town well worth the visit and $ spent.

Meh. I wanted this place to kick ass...but it was a below average diner. The waitress even shared a story how the table next to ours had 2 folks vomit the night before...I didn't want to...but I instinctively began to sniff as if I'd suddenly be hit with the grotesque smell...resulting in, guess what? VOMIT. LOL. Ordered the french toast and it was odd, sweet...but a sorta generic sweetner sweet...the syrup DIDN'T help. Eggs were cooked well. Reasonably priced...and other than the "TMI" from the waitress, service was pretty friendly.

Eaten here a few times. It's basically in the heart of the tourist downtown district-Gettysburg University. So their main crowd is going to be tourists and college kids. And with that, don't expect any sort of high-end food here. This is typical Denny's inspired diner food. On my last trip, I went all nostalgic with chicken strips which tasted the same as what I'd get at any type of silver rocket or whatnot. They weren't bad by a long shot, but nothing special either. The trip prior, I had a burger and fries, typical fare with nothing to write home about. Plenty of coffee refills and whatnot. I can't complain there and the waitress was friendly. What keeps this place from going three star is that parking seems to always be rough, traffic getting in and out is hard too. And for all the better the food is I find the price point to be a smidgen high.

For me, every trip to Gettysburg includes breakfast at the Lincoln diner. It is a great reminder of diners of the past. The omelets are great and the service is excellent.

Wilted and dried salad, American cheese in the omelet, food uninspired - though our two small children were OK w the pancakes and scrambled eggs. Service inattentive. Bathrooms a mess.

This is the kind of restaurant you go to when its really late at night and you have nothing else to do. The Lincoln Diner is a staple for most high school and college students, but I think that's due to the fact that they're always open and they're cheap, rather than that its a great restaurant. I'll admit, I've gone countless times out of boredom and nostalgia and have had a great time, but if I'm looking for a place that is guaranteed to have good service and food, this isn't on the top of the list. The food itself is not bad. They have a great breakfast that is big and reasonably priced. The diner is also really good for late night stops for onion rings and fries. It has pretty standard diner foods that you can't go wrong with. For a late night stop, definitely try the cheese fries! Where the Lincoln Diner goes wrong is service. I would say that 90 percent of the time, the service is so bad that you want to get up and leave. The wait is always ridiculous just to even get your drink and the wait for the food is not better. Once you get your food, usually it is either wrong or it doesn't have the entire order. That wouldn't be so bad, but trying to tell the server that you need something is impossible; they walk away and you never see them again until they happen to remember that you need a check. The restaurant is fairly clean (just a little wear and tear from being so old, but that's normal). The bathroom is really creepy though. My friends and I call it the "murder bathroom." It's down in the basement where no sound reaches it and the lights flicker on and off. Yeah, I've seen that horror movie... Overall, the Lincoln Diner isn't terrible. It's a good place to go for breakfast and especially a great place for a late night snack with friends. Don't expect much for service and a bathroom and you'll be fine.

As a tourist, it's always tough to find a nice local spot that you can feel welcomed. I was happily surprised when I found the Lincoln Diner while visiting Gettysburg, especially since the fancy hotel I stayed at didn't offer continental breakfast. Instead, I had a great (standard) breakfast for cheap that was filling and prepared me for my day. There's nothing in this world like diner breakfast and if I ever return, this would be weekly stop for me. Great food, great service, and parking available. Not much else one can ask for in terms of a diner!

We came for lunch due to the advertising in our hotel. Atmosphere was classic American diner. However, one can't eat atmosphere, and the food was awful. Furthermore, the waitress was inep, and not very pleasant. I had a roast beef sandwich: the beef was dry, inedible. My date's turkey club was likewise. The fries were very good. We were tempted to have dessert, but didn't want to risk further disappointment

Quick, friendly service and standard diner fare, Lincoln Diner is a decent choice for a biker breakfast.

We stopped here for dinner. I had a ham and cheese omelette my daughter had French toast. Both were very good. Service is friendly and prices are more than fair. It is a local diner so not fancy. But just perfect for what we were looking for.

We went here with our family for Breakfast... Great home cooked food, lots of seating, delicious desserts made fresh every day... We enjoyed our breakfast very much.

I didn't realize the diner was so big because from the front it looked like a scummy diner we have at home (29 Diner in Fairfax, VA). But! It was cute inside and had this sort of home-y, local feel. It looked like a giant trailer, really. We sat at the bar and was greeted\served by Deb. She was nice and attentive to our needs. I suppose it's hard to ignore patrons when they're sitting just 6 inches away from your face (not much room... not even to swing a cat). I only required a simple frozen coffee treat which I, indeed, got. I found myself in need of a toilet facility and was directed by a flashing neon sign to go down the dark stairs. The walk down into the bowels of the diner was slightly intimidating but, I believe I was overreacting because the toilets were nothing but welcoming (once inside). I deposited my delivery and returned to my coffee mate's side. We paid at the register and ventured back out into the streets of Gettysburg in search of attractive, hipster collegiates.

Food was okay...typical diner feel. Almost all of the waitresses were hanging out gossiping about tips and other patrons. Probably would not go back...also the bathrooms were nasty!

Skimming through the reviews Petes caught my eye and I must say I hope you and your friends encounter re-enactors who use real bullets on your next visit! With that being said this place was amazing ! The food was all up to standards and our waitress was amazing in all respects.

Stopped for lunch as we traveled through Gettysburg. Cheap...but delicious sandwiches. Fast service, the waitress was friendly...I was happy!

This place has not changed since I first went there in the late '70's, in the middle of the nite. It is a diner with all the typical dinner fare. Which means great deserts, so make sure you leave room for something. Service was quick even for a large group, 11. Will go back when in town again.
(3)William B.
It was a very good northern style restaurant. Some things were great but some were not all that. It is a good little old diner that I enjoy. It may not be mind blowing, but the service was excellent and the waitress tended to our every need. It was a nice little place, I would go back.
(4)Crystal J.
This was the perfect diner for breakfast. The prices are very reasonable and the food met our expectations in every way. The special, sausage gravy & biscuits, was very tasty. Overall, would definately visit this little diner again. Meow!

Dinner was fine -- we had specials, broiled chicken with cheese and broccoli and crab cakes. A giant sweet potato was served as a side as was a blue cheese dressed green salad. Service was friendly, fast, and when all we ordered to drink was water, we were served a pitcher. It's not gourmet eating and routine items may be more reliable than our chancing the specials but a nice, reasonably priced spot with true diner atmosphere.

What to do when you have a late-night munchies attack in Gettysburg? Why, the Lincoln Diner, of course! Hubs and I hit here laaate one night after a full day of Civil War battlefield tours. The Lincoln had a full menu - a really nice change of pace from so many "late night menu" cop-outs - and the food was good. I had eggs and pancakes. Eggs were good, pancakes were great. Hubs had a peanut butter hot fudge sundae that was so frickin' fantastic neither one of us can stop thinking about it. Seriously. We've actually talked about making the two-hour-long round-trip just for the freakin' sundae. We need help. Anyway, the staff was also a real pleasure - clearly college kids, but very attentive, fun and spunky. There were several other tables there, but the noise level was fine, no drunken idiots. Apparently, the owners make all of the desserts fresh every day, and they are very proud of them - with good reason. This is a wonderful change from basically every other restaurant, all of whom seem to have given up on dessert completely and offer only whatever their bulk food provider is currently carrying in stock (Choc'late Lovin' Spooncake, anyone??) ... and then serve it stale, to boot. We were impressed enough that we're planning another trip to check out some more traditional diner fare, as well as the goodies in the dessert case. If you're in Gettysburg late at night and looking for some good nosh, give Lincoln a whirl. A solid late-night diner!

Having gone to college in Gettysburg, it brings back many memories of late night talks and giggles over grilled cheese and cheesecake. Recently I ventured back to town and we ate there and my "must haves" were the grilled ham and cheese and the cheesecake with blueberry topping. All their desserts are made on site and their cheesecake is my favorite in the whole world. And blueberry topping too? Yes, please! The atmosphere is typical diner. Smokey at times, sometimes the patronage is dubious, and depending on what time of day and year (hey, it is a tourist town!) you go it can be fairly crowded. But if you like that classic diner feel and all that goes along with it, I recommend it.

The 'stinkin lincoln' is a fairly average diner that becomes a necessity for late night visits. Hadn't been here since my younger years, but some things haven't changed. If you're passing through as a tourist stop in for something affordable.

We went there once after visitiing gettysburg with my relatives in 2005, we had 5 people in our party. And there was a pretty long wait to get food. We ordered a hamburger, a gyro, a chef salad and like baked fish. the food came out eventually and it was alright, but i remember that there was no pickle and the chips tasted incredibly stale, i thought that with the portions we got and the price we paid that we were being ripped off. they were not that large. i guess when youre a tourist you dont know the difference though. They are cash only.

Went here when I was in Gettysburg a few summers ago. I remember it being a pretty cool looking diner (cool as in, not colonial). Food was alright, and if I remember right, the pie's they had for dessert were the main reason to go. Plus, its open later than most places around it which is nice.

Lincoln Diner is a small, classic diner with a simple, basic menu. No frills. The food was suspiciously cheap but good (I had the best grilled cheese there), and the location not too far from the town square and the college is great for strolling around town. The people there were friendly, too.
(4)Andrew P.
Pretty good food, good location, reasonable service.
(3)Pete J.
I was there once & it was years ago, but it's memorable for two reasons: 1. Gettysburg! Oh the history! 2. I was with a friend & her drunk friends & they kicked us out for being too obnoxious (I think someone was dropping f-bombs). The walk from the diner at dawn was the most memorable part of the experience, though.
(3)Marshall G.
Perfect breakfast diner food. Eggs over easy, sausage, potatoes and toast. A little over 5 bucks. Same meal at Denny's would be about $8 and the potatoes would be more greasy. Quick service and positive attitude waitress.
(4)Jeff S.
good diner food - snappy diner waitresses. this is a popular joint for drunken college kids after last call. food is consistently good and cheap. great desserts.
(3)B. S.
The food here is good, but the fact that they don't take credit cards and the service is abhorrently slow makes it a place we no longer visit.

Crazy old dinner right off the square. First thing that pops into my mind is the smoke. The first time I went in (prior to a nonsmoking section) I could hardly see across the room. There is a nonsmoking section now, but you have to walk through the smoke to get to it. Food is typical diner fare. Service is usually rude, but I've come to expect that. The bathroom is strange. It's downstairs and makes me think of Psycho the movie. I do believe they are cash only.

One of my favorite diners of all time, this tiny place doesn't accept credit or debit cards. Dinners are good, big and reasonable. Awesome selection of pies and desserts. Everything you'd expect from a diner. It has the original metal section, with an addition. A great road food stop on the Lincoln Highway.

Great old fashioned little diner just a little off the square in Gettysburg. Open late (not sure if all night or not). Great deserts and pies. I think that they don't take credit cards though (I might be wrong) and original art deco part of the diner is the smoking section. You have to walk through it to get to the non-smoking section and the smoke wafts in anyway. I guess that is my main beef. I'm used to living places where smoking inside isn't even remotely an option, so that can come as a shock.

this is from the eyes of the native...if you are in here you are either drunk or in high school...some come in here for the nostalgia. don't expect much. it's just cheap diner food with not alot of frills. good times, good times.
