What else can one say- this is a diner. Food reasonable cost and great value. Don't be afraid to eat here. It will not be a memorable experience yet it will not break the bank when you are paying for a large crowd. Specifics, baby BBQ rack very good. Chocolate cake super dry. Cheeses cake good but not a wow. Haddock just OK. Grilled cordon blue less than exceptional. Server helpful and engaged.

Never again! We went there for bunch waited to be seated. The only thing good was our waitress. My granddaughter ordered pancakes the syrup was watered down so bad it had no flavor. As we were waiting for our order a lady ordered a drink the waitress brought her a drink it was not what she ordered. The waitress oh wrong table and took the drink to a lady at another table. I almost puked the first lady took a sip that's when she knew it was not what she ordered. Thank goodness she was not waiting on us. I would not go back even if it was free.

Fantastic! Food was delicious, service was fast and friendly, fries were awesome. Made our adventure in local eating on our vacation easy and well worth it.

We have been here over four times and never a bad item. The meats I hear are farm fresh. Nothing has been added to the don't get list.

Eat where Ancient People eat. They are picky, and are on fixed incomes so you know where they eat will have decent food at decent prices. On dates I try to impress significant others by taking them here and making up stories about the old couples around us. Brief moments like this should clue me in as to why I'm single more often than not.

Waited 15 minutes to get a menu. Then we waited another 8 minutes before we decided to walk out. Other people were upset too.

This place is all right. Picture a diner like menu with mediocre food. The staff are very nice, almost like family, but temper your expectations for gourmet here. They do have a beer license and you can take up to 2 12 packs with you.

Food was not great - coffee was even worse. Service could use some improvement as it took us over an hour to get out (food was delivered 10 min after ordering...clearly not a kitchen issue). Won't be going back.

Nice family diner. It is obvious this is where the locals come for breakfast. The food is good and the price reasonable. On walking in, I was sure we would have to wait for a table as the whole room was full. The hostess however took us to another room immediately - the place is really large! For breakfast, the fare is pretty standard - eggs, omelettes, waffles, etc. one exception is scrapple - never heard of it, so had to try it. For anyone else who doesn't know, scrapple seems to be ground sausage deep fried to a crunchy exterior. It comes out looking like a deep fried hash brown. It is really quite tasty - though I'm sure it shot the cholesterol through the roof!

Service was bad. Food was mediocre at best. The front area was very crowded because people were checking out and trying to get seated. Would not recommend. Other restaurants in the area are much better.

Tasted better than it looked! Had steaks and crab cakes and fried fish / shrimp and pasta that were all good. All dinner plates came with choice of salads and veggies. Good selection, fast service, did good with kids. 5 stars for the type of diner / cheap but not fast food place that it is. Not at a all fine dining - it knows its place and did it well.

We stopped here for a quick dinner after movies in Gettysburg. Speaking of which--don't waste your time going to see the new Indiana Jones Crystal Skull flick--it was awful. Gettysburg Family Restaurant is in a non-descript strip mall along Rt. 30. It was pleasantly crowded, so I thought we had stumbled upon a little gem. Not so. Such confusion--even on seating us. We were finally ushered to an add-on room by a young girl who clearly should not be working with customers... She needs desperately to be trained in people skills. Our server was ok. The food was just ok. The atmosphere left a lot to be desired. It was a real disappointment.

Short Version: Large amounts of good food for a fair price! Full Story: In an era of fast-food "value meals" this is a refreshing alternative. I just had a breakfast of a western (ham, onions, green peppers, cheese, etc) omelette, home fried sliced potatoes, wheat toast and beverage for $5.95 ($6.31 with tax) plus tip! Elapsed time = 30 min. Will a gourmet food show ever feature this eatery? No! Will I eat there again? You betcha! The eggs were great while the potatoes were somewhat bland. Some of the reviewers here don't seem to have noticed that every table has salt, pepper and ketchup, plus the server will fetch other condiments if asked. In addition to the food value, this is one of the increasingly rare places where the entire staff is not simply employed --- they WORK together to put out large numbers of accurate orders as quickly as possible. On this outing, the very busy cashier/hostess used a free minute to clear a table. A bus-person took and delivered a beverage order. One server aided another without being asked to do so. TIP: If you are visiting from another region, try a side order of scrapple. This meatloaf-like favorite is sliced and then grilled. What's in it? Everything except the hog's squeal. Just don't consume this before having laboratory blood work done or your doctor may prescribe new meds. But, properly grilled to a crisp exterior while still mushy inside, it is worth sampling.

We stopped by for breakfast and it was super busy, but we were seated fast. Breakfast was great, service was good, price was best (cheap eats)! :) Yes, it does look like a much older crowd though, but we don't mind!! Mom and Pop Diner style place! We would eat here again!

I can echo the reviews from prior, it's a good place to get in and out of when you're in a the mood for something good and cheap. I didn't have any issues regarding the staff either. Great smaller place and solid to enjoy on the local scene.

The portion sizes here are HUGE, so if price/value is your biggest concern then you will be pretty happy. We have just had breakfast and the eggs and pancakes are serviceable. Why the low review -- the taste. It is possible to make pancakes which have flavor and sweetness beyond the syrup and that is lacking here.

I stopped here for lunch on my way to DC and had lunch. The food is cheap and what I had was good. The place was crowded and so I figure the food can't be all that bad. The other 3 people that I was with also had good food. No complaints and like I said, it was cheap.

We stopped here on our first night in Gettysburg because we were tired and hungry and it was the first acceptable place nearby that didn't have an hour wait (it was Saturday night). It seemed like a place old people would frequent - old and homey, comfort food, etc. That usually means it's either a hidden gem or it's totally bland. Well, it actually ended up being neither. It was maybe like eating at a Waffle House or something. The food was ok, filling and not bad. The atmosphere is nonexistent obviously. You go here to eat, not to admire the decor. We were seated at a bar area and it was kind of blah to be looking back at the area where the servers work because it was so disorganized and messy. As a former server, I've never seen a kitchen/service area so messy. But it was clean, decent food (I had a turkey dish and it was a massive helping of good turkey meat), and pretty quick, so I can't complain too much.
